The management

i read something interesting on calciomercato about saying how Belusconi has lost his love for the team, how he useto eat dinner with the players 3 times a week, and useto go to most of the games. Even if it was a triangle tournament in lugano.

Fans are asking for a bigger comitment from him as he seems to be more interested in Politics these days. I think it would be a good idea for Piersilvio to take over, when he spoke recently in the press about Dida and Gilardino he seemed to have a good business sence.

In other news ive heard rumours that Braida is retiring? i dont know how reliable that news is.

I don't worry about all that ... I think that Silvio Berlusconi won't let the club down ... and he prepares something big for the next 5 years !! It's my hope lol.

I don't think he's lost his love and passion with Milan, but I agree that for the last few years it was politics and running for PM that occupied his mind. His son seemed to have some of his qualities, I like his comment about Dida and Gila some time ago.

If we fall victim to these news, then we are idiots. Media loves to pounce on ANY chance to create stories, small or huge.

Considering Milan's pedigree (i.e., enemy, jealousy), are you surprised that media (pro-Milan, neutral, or anti-Milan alike) keep creating stories about Milan is collapsing as if it's going to happen forever?

Don't be manipulated; don't be too trusting, especially when you are dealing with the media.

go to calciomercato and read comments by italian fans, and what do they think about how Galliani is doing his job... money or not from silvio, he made at least 7-9 signings that failed: Oddo, Marek, Gourcuff, emerson, ronaldo, Gilardino, Oliveira ( lost vogel who was ok ), Vieri, Amoroso, loaned boriello to become serie a top scorer...

"pseudo" manager job it is! You know when Moggi would missjudge 8 player in 2,3 years - NEVER. Boban wrote in his article that I was talking about that its all too relaxed in Milanello and that all the palyers think the ywill stay. Sacci, C.Maldini, P.Maldini should be in pace of Galliani, or in place of Braida. And news that Braida is up to retire are not that far from truth. If Maldini comes to mangment, heads fill fall, players heads.

Oddo was a good short term signing (and I believe that he has been undergoing a lot of physical problems lately), Marek was also a top signing in my books back then (and the only season he was healthy he proved to be worthy), same goes for Gila (and in the only season we played some fast football with good crosses from the fullbacks he did well, btw, I'm pretty sure he is a Braida buy, oh and we even got him cheaper than we should have, considering that Chelsea, Juventus and even Inter were offering MUCH more), Gourcuff seemed to be a step forward to become younger (and was doing ok till the misterious injury). Ronaldo was also good for the short term. While Amoroso was never really one to be serious about. And loaning Borriello for the 3rd time (or 4th) isn't really stupid considering the guy never really did anything in Milan nor the other teams he was part of when on loan, he didn't even acted like a professional with us. The rest were announced failures that only a blind man couldn't see and other bad movements (like believe on Ronaldo to be our main key this season, or not buying any fullbacks last year to replace the dead ones that are currently in our bench, not buying a forward, and specially forgetting about our creative midfield) could/should have been taken into consideration more than the ones mentioned above.

I'm not a Galliani fan by any means, but blaming the man for all those buys is ridiculous IMO, circumstances happen too (injuries, changing tactics, not being able to adapt to the team in particular). Let's also remember that Moggi was so perfect at his buys (which is a lie, btw, as he did several big mistakes in his era there, specially if we use the meassure stick we have with Galliani) cause he had the control on everything in italian football (and the GEA agency is the best testament on that).

changing tactics, not being able to adopt to a team and so on...?? Galliani needs to have that in mind, and in consideration with Carlo!! Carlo got a player he DOESNT WANT in gourcuff. Im sure Carlo didnt even look at Yoan back in Rennes. "here you go Carlo, this is Yoan...new Rui Costa! " And then - coach doesnt like the player and by,by money...

With some players like Oddo,Marek,Gila - if they are good, then Carlo is afwull to make horrible players ( except Marek who played fer very good games for us ) olt of them!

Well, Galliani can have all that taken into consideration, but what the future will bring can be a lot different, it would be awesome if he would have the crystall balll to avoid most of this mistakes.

Well there are other factors too, not just the tactics (just not suited for Milan, which doesn't immediatly mean the player sucks or he is a small team player; injuries, physical preparation, externalities-I'm not who to judge to say that they should keep their mind on footy if they are having personal problems-, mental preparation-I think we should take a look at this thing specially-).

That said, I think the job of a fullback in this particular Milan is terrible, you have to be constantly pulling back and fourth all the game (and in Oddo's case is 100 times worse cause till a few days ago, considering the ages of the guys playing in the left side, he had to do that way more often), and I believe that affects their crosses a lot, needless to say they usually find one or two players in the middle of the area, and all the rest of the players are outside the area or even behind the fullback. Oddo was one of the best crossers in the world...and with Lazio he was the best in the league (for me), so something is not particularly right with the tactics.

On Gila's case, he played good-very good in his first season with us, when we had a game that provided 4 good crosses a match, 4 good passes in his feet a match, and we played a faster game (and much more less predictable). But the most important thing, he wasn't ordered to receive the ball outside the area with his back to the goal, in order to pass it to Kaka/Seedorf, which is what I believe Carlo ask him to do since Sheva left. Till a few months ago, he seemed at least willingful, but I think he has now decided to let everything go cause it's not worth it, and he has decided to leave (pity cause if we put him in a more creative, fast Milan he would be useful, and that style would benefit Milan, and b) cause we won't be selling him at a price tag near the one we got him).

Another note on the management, I believe that the problem that bugs more is the relative quiet market and the self promoting that they have been doing lately (specially this season) to try to hide the bad market and the bad season. It bugs me too. But I also don't really know the reasons as to why they have been so cheap lately, is it that Berlusconi can't let himself "waste" more money on Milan? Were we in a deep economical crisis, which could have gotten worse if we wouldn't have been cheap? Are we just cheap cause we want to? Is it pure incompetence of our management?

I think the tactics are fine. The players are used to the system and have shown that they can play well in it. We can't change to a formation that gives protection or another player in front of the full-backs, because we don't have enough natural (and quality) wingers to pull the system off. Therefore, we have to go with a narrow system and play to our strengths - which is our strength in central midfield. However, this season too many of our central midfielders haven't been playing well enough.

Milan fans say no to Sheva Sunday 6 April, 2008 --channel 4

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan’s supporters staged a protest last night criticising the club’s transfer policy and the possible return of Andriy Shevchenko.

The Ultra group Old Clan handed out leaflets to the crowd in and around the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Cagliari.

It contained a list of seven complaints to the club after general manager Adriano Galliani pointed out the fans should not criticise Milan considering the last 20 years of silverware.

“The President is absent and no longer has the motivation or the desire to invest that he did before,” was among the leaflet’s statements.

“The only smart signing of the past three years has been Alexandre Pato. Enough of players on the downward slope of their careers and continual fitness problems.

“Ariedo Braida spent two weeks in South America scouting for talent and returned with the disappointing Leandro Grimi.

“The many season ticket holders have been taken for a ride by broken promises, a squad that is not up to the standard of Milan with great stars who instead joined the opposition.”

The most forceful point was made against the possible return from Chelsea of former crowd favourite Shevchenko.

“We absolutely rule out Shevchenko, who is 32 and would fill the only non-EU slot, preventing Milan from signing a younger and better player.”

In Italy clubs can only sign one non-EU player from a foreign League per season.

I have already read through what U had written. I don't understand your holding a grudge against Adriano Galliani. In last Mercato, he gave Silvio Berlusconi contracts with Gigi Buffon, Franck Ribery and Luca Toni. Our boss didn't sign them. What Adriano could do? He had to lie that Toni and Ribery had not fit to conception of the team. mrki, U count "bad Galliani's transfers". I want to comment it. Massimo Oddo at first. When he came to AC Milan, he was the best right defender in Italy. He had got fantastic round in season 2006/07, and he helped to win UEFA Champions League. This season is worse, but who could predict it? Jankulovski is very reliable. Czech national team player can also play as a midfielder. Gourcuff was described as a new Zidane. Who could predict that he will be dissapointing? It's not Galliani's fault that French isn't self-confident. Emerson was signed as one of the best defensive midfielder in Europe with one worse season in Spain. Maybe Galliani was too self-confident after Ronaldo signing. In my opinion Ronaldo was good transfer. If he played, he didn't dissapoint. Is it Galliani's fault that Ronnie is so susceptible to injuries? When Gilardino signed contract with AC, he was the best scorer in Italy. Who could predict that he would play as bad as we can see? Nobody. In addition that he had a very good first season in Milan. Oliveira's transfer was analogous to Alberto's, but Brazilian player was one of the best scorer in Spain, not in Italy. Bobo Vieri? Ok, I agree in a half. But pay attention on fact, that we needed fourth forward and a player "with a surname" was without club. Amoroso was instead Vieri. Borriello? Answer honestly. Do U wanted Marco to stay? We all know his statistic in AC, and we know how he played for "Rossoneri".

So, we have got two/three transfers that are Galliani's fault.

Number one - Emerson.
Number two - Christian Vieri
Number three - Marcio Amoroso (but didn't be given a real chance)

the managements failure this season was knowing Ronaldo is a liability. I would have prefered to keep Borriello than play Ambrosini as a striker like we did. They made a huge mistake counting on Pato in the winter break, and that error has cost us. Maybe even 4th place.

I think my and the ultras biggest issue with the management is that we have lost some ace players like tomasson, crespo, Rui Costa and havent really replaced them. Unlike every other seria A team we have failed in bringing in new players to relieve the elder players. Do they really want Maldini, Cafu, Serginho, Favalli playing until there 50?

Instead we have compromised and have had the same core players for 5+ years as the management have failed to bring in anyone that could push for a starting place. Im not sure if this is Carlo, Galliani or Belusconi. But the blame has to fall on someones shoulders if we dont reach 4th place, either way we are going to need some serious repairs if we are going to try and compete in seria A next term.

as far as im aware we never had anything solid with Gigi Buffon, it was just rumours arround calciopoli. There was a rumour that Belusconi pulled the plug as he had faith in Dida. This could be rubbish though.

Ancelotti wanted Franck Ribery and Belusconi wouldnt pay, if the rumours are true Galiani was tooo embarrased to sign Luca Toni from Palermo.. Maybe that was why Belusconi pulled the plug on him from Fiorentina.

The ultras are critising the fact we buy players who are made out of glass, well more the fact we dont sign players and suffer endless injuries each season.

To be honest, I dont blieve Buffon ever wanted to leave Juve. And about not signing Toni and Ribery - its just being cheep while having resluts to back you up.
