Goodbye Cafu' and Serginho... and thank you

Cafu' and Serginho have officially announced they're leaving Milan after Sunday's game...

Cafu' arrived in 2003-2004 season (same as Kaka') from Roma... Serginho had arrived since 1999-2000 (same as Sheva).

After this season, both will return to Brazil... Serginho will be in charge of Milan's scouting team in Brazil... and Cafu' will play for one more season with Sao Paulo before retiring... his son will remain in Milano, under Milan's protection, playing for the youth teams as he grows...

According to several sources (including acmilan.com) Galliani has requested that they find a new Cafu' and a new Serginho for Milan... and of course he thanked them for giving their 100% to Milan while they played for us.

Both great players and great human beings... unfortunadtely, age and injuries take their toll and they realize it's time to go home, with their heads high.

Grazie Marcos. Grazie Sergio. Arrivederci. Boa sorte... muito obrigado.

All milan fans across the world will miss sergio and markus... They did every possible thing for the team especially sergio, we will never forget him and they are a piece of milan history it is a wise thing to call it a day and we all wish them best of luck in their lives. Hopfully this means our management will do what it takes to reconstruct the team and build a team worth wearing milan jersey

If Kaka singlehandedly conquered MU last season, then some years ago Serginho literally singlehandedly tore Inter defense apart in that famous tennis match. Thank you for those 9 years of good memories Il Concorde...

Same big thanks goes out for Cafu, il pendolino too. He came to Milan when the critics said that he's finished and he silenced them with his performances. A true professional.

I hope we can find good replacements for them

I can say that Cafu was THE BEST RB I have seen in my life. Roma and early Milan days - brilliant.

Sergio was also brilliant for Milan as a winger, left midfielder or at his days at the offensive LB.

Thatn you goth, it was a pleasure to see those players in Milan shirt!

FORZA SERGIO & CAFU!

We'll miss their personality. Sergio was always the man ready with jokes, while Cafu had always a smile in his face.

Apart from the unforgettable games they played, i will remember a couple of episodes that are still vivid in my mind:

1) Serginho: in Japan the last December, during our training sessions, there was a large crowd of Japanese fans watching the trainings. Sergio at the end of one training session started to joke with them, and told them to catch the ball he was about to throw on the rows. Every time he tried to kick the ball on the rows, the ball just bounced on the top of protections and got back into the field. Sergio did that on purpose, just to make them more excited and to have fun. He did that a few times, every time hitting the protections and getting the ball back. It is the perfect image of Sergio in our dressing room..

2) Cafu : after our Scudetto in 2004, Marcos was filmed in the dressing room dancing on a table and singing "One capitano, there's only one capitano". I was impressed by Cafu, because he must be a very humble person. He was the Brazil captain in charge, and nonetheless was taking Maldini in triumph as "the only capitano".

This guys teach us one lesson: you can do whatever you want on the market, and replace Serginho and Cafu as players. You can even replace them with better footballers. But what makes a winning team are also the human resources, which are unreplaceable by definition, cause every human being is different. What you can't do is replacing their personality. That's why they will be sorely missed.

I'm both happy and sad to hear these announcements. Obviously the happiness is the fact that both end their time at the club on a high note, but also it will be our chance to progress.

The sadness is to see two players who will have their names well remembered at the club finally call an end to their time here.

Sergio's main highlight is definitely the 6-0 win over Inter. That match alone puts him in Milan's history. However, he has always played a big part at the club, usually from the bench, but there is of course that historic season where he was probably one of the best LB's in the world.

Cafu for me was a massive and pleasant surprise. When younger, he was by far my favourite Roma player, but when he finally left I thought he was too old for us. I was disappointed to see us signing a 33 year old for RB, but what a surprise he was, playing like he did in his prime for us, and undoubtedly the best RB in the world. A true legend.

Really happy to see both maintaining links with the club, let's hope Sergio has a similar impact to Leonardo in Brazil

Good luck to cafu and little sergio in their future endeavors. We will all miss cafu’s smiles and sergihno too. They were part of Milan’s success in the past and for that they will be remembered. cafu's son plays with the milan’s youth ,so who knows we might have cafu jr soon.
