Seedorf, where will he fits in???
Just starting this thread b/c I wonder what you guys think Seedorf will do at the moment.
Ideally speaking, if he drops back to Ambro's role. Milan Midfield will be amazing with Flamini-Pirlo-Seedorf Kaka-R10. However, will he do it is another question. |

that is a really good lineup just one DM (who is better techincally than ambro and gattuso) and pirlo and seedorf with r10 and kaka this would take alot of pressure off kaka since he will have another fast player (hopefully) along side with him to run up and down the field cant wait for the friendlies to see how carlo tries different tactics

I hope he stays too, but his ego is really a problem.
Too bad Abate is leaving as I think he can be an ultimate sub in Milan |

Seedorf is there both for rotation behind the strikers and to be used in his old role. Well at least I hope he will be used in his old role. that would be a team to fear and brush aside the smaller teams.

Firstly he should not play his "old" role, that's just a big mistake for 2 reasons:
1- We'll end up with a bitter player on our hands and tension in the dressing room. 2- He hasn't got the legs to play there regularly anyway. We might be able to get away with it for say 20 mins of some matches against certain teams. But against any hard working midfield, that trio will just get over run time & time again. When he plays he should be used in an attacking position, this obviously depends on the formation and the situation we find ourselves in. It could be behind 2 players or alongside a striker or possibly even out on the wing. One thing is for sure, he's been a first choice for 5 years now and he has to accept that it's time for someone else to take his place. Obviously it doesn't mean he's to be an outcast, but he shouldn't be forced into the side just because of his ego/name, especially if it's to the detriment of the team. Additionally, what is the deal with Abate? I thought he'd been loaned out to Torino, but then i read we're offering him a 4 year deal and he'll stay with us If he hasn't been loaned, i think we should keep him as he could be ideal for us, especially if we play a 4-2-3-1 formation ( i know we won't but i can dream )

Abate is offered a 5 years contract I think, not four, and he will play one more season on loan, and then come back to the San Siro

We play our best football when he plays there. He played there just one game last season and that was our best game...

We may play slightly better attacking football when he plays there, but we're far less stable defensively because the bottom line is he just can't cut in a position that requires alot of energy and stamina.
He has no desire to play that role, so why force him to? Flamini is the man to take that position and i think he'll do a good job too.

Seedorf must play anywhere Carletto asks him to. With Dinho's arrival he can't expect to be played throughout the match when he's having a bad game

I just wish Seedorf would understand it's better to provide more quality... instead of just a lot of sub-par quantity... if he's in better shape, he'll contribute more when it is most necessary. I know he's probably not very happy right now... but he'll have to put his ego away.

Gattuso-Pirlo-Seedorf Not that he was a pure left midfielder by any means, but he tended to drift off to the left and provide support for the left fullback. Ronaldinho is the type of player that also drifts off to the left, so I believe having him, Clarence, and the left FB, probably Jankulovski, will be too much. What I'd like to see is Seedorf being moved off to the right and the DM playing on the left, like Ambro does in the X-mas tree. Basically something like this: Seedorf-Pirlo-DM (Flamini/Rino/Ambro/Whoever) Kaka Ronaldinho Pato Thoughts? |

Seedorf's latest comments have been harsh but direct. He showed how big his ego is with his comments and by then end of the summer, i wont be suprised if he asks to be sold.

To be honest, I think Seedorf will stay for this year, as he knows Dinho will be playing in Beijing and if he plays well during that time, he will in his mind bump Dinho off the starting 11. But by next season, he will be sold

It's better if Seedorf plays as right MC Regarding the defence as our right defence was always better at defending (Nesta+Oddo/Bonera comparing to Janku/Favalli+Khaladze). If Seedorf fails to cover the right-midfield area for some times, Nesta and the right fullback (I hope Bonera) can cover the empty room left by Seedorf. I suppose here that Zambrotta plays on the left side of the the defence.
Seedorf can bring the ball either with left or right foot but he kicks the ball or creates a cross better using his right foot. He failed pretty often to deliver delicate crosses from the left of Milan side. The other problem is if the DM we have can play in the left side well or not. Ambrossini has showned us that he can play on the left side (even his defence was not that great). I doubt Gattuso can be better to play on the left side as he is a pure right-footed. It would be very hard for Gattuso to help the wingback to create crosses to the striker. But again, we have R10. What the DM to do in that respective position is only to defence, not like Gattuso's job last seasons when he also needed to support the attack very often. With Flamini, I have no doubt. He will be able to play in all positions in the midfield. I do think, Seedorf could play on the right centre of the midfield. If necessary, Flamini can take Pirlo's role and let Pirlo take left MC' role to cover Seedorf position when Milan is attacking (the job which can only be done by Flamini IMO). But I don't it will be necessary because Pirlo today is a very different version to the 2002/03's one with respect to his defensive skill except Carlo wants to push very hard from the left side (Zambro+Pirlo+R10 ). |
