Uefa Cup: A.C. Milan - Zurich: 18/09/08

So now that the Genoa story is behind us, let's clear our minds and start off a clean slate. Zurich comes to visit Milan at the San Siro in our first Uefa Cup game of the season.

Since this game is on Thursday and our players are too unfit to play games back to back, I don't think we'll throw out our best lineup today. Players who are trying to return to fitness will probably start this one. These include: Senderos(?), Kaka, Pato, Borriello. I would definitely start Cardacio here as he deserves it based on preseason form. Darmian should maybe get some minutes in the second half. I'll post my preferred lineup later. Gotta run.

FORZA MILAN!

I think the break will be good for Pirlo. He can take a month off and come back fresh, maybe it will make him more consistent. Now we can effectively use the 4-2-3-1 with Ambro/Flamini/Emerson occupying the 2. If we want the 4-3-1-2, I say use Cardacio in Pirlo's spot.

I am with u there hitmannq8! Cardacio definately to start,if we play with 4-3-2-1, but have Ambro and Flamini start the 4-2-3-1 formation.

Ditto re Pirlo as well..he needs a rest, and this injury is just badly timed only insofar as the derby is concerned...maybe Cardacio will get a run, and force Pirlo to fight back for his spot...it could happen...as it did before with Kaka and Rui Costa/Rivaldo.

Question is though...will the pressure on us be too great for Carlo not to make some necessary changes in terms of personnel? Should Kaka start? Should Pato come off the bench?

We will enter this match knowing that the Lazio game on the weekend is of greater importance...so it will be interesting to see who Carlos starts...

I'll ask again if we could marge the two Uefa Cup threads? It has just come to light in the other thread that Cardacio isn't even on the squad list. Just in case you wanted to know...Emerson made it. L-o-l

Every teams now has a chance (big one) to beat us. After Bologna, Lugano, and Genoa now Zurich has the chance also to beat us. Sorry for being pesimistic but what can I say now? Even now Hasli or Alphonse could force Abbiati to put the ball from inside the net but no matter what I still cheers FORZA MILAN

Pity that Pirlo is injured (like I said in hte other thread), but at least it will give him some rest. I hope the players step up to replace him, it'll probably be Emerson who steps in. Gattuso has begun training but maybe its too early for him. Of course we should beat Zurich, but currently who knows what'll happen.
