Reggina-Milan 4th round 24/09/08

4th round against reggina

We have to win or else our gap may easily be 7 points on sunday with inter..
I really think the only match we didnt okay was against genoa..We ve played 3 nice matches(against bologna too imo)..

ps whats going on with nesta is he coming back?at least on sunday..we ll be a whole deferent team with him..

ps2 i hope carlo will use senderos, just because our defence really sucked in all 4 matches, and we need a change, not because i think hes reliable..

my 11 would be:

------------abbiati------------

zambro---senderos-maldini---marek(the only one that has been realiable on the left)..

----gattuso---ambro(flamini)--

---------------seedorf---------
-------kaka---------------------

--------borrielo---pato(ronie)---

garenteed draw or loss.....

we need borriello in against the minnow teams who pack it in. Lazio doesnt sit 10 behind ball, hence we scored so much, but against teams like reggina who r content playing for draw against us, we need strong physical CF to get first goal.....

I'd play

-zambro--bonera--kaladze--favalli--

---flamini--seedorf--ambro------

----------dinho------------------

-----pato-----borriello-------------

gattuso/cardaccio is mf subs... kaka if we're losing and need a boost. Sheva to relieve 1 of strikers once we r leading....

That way for derby we have a fresh kaka. (remember he had played 3 matches in 7 days off knee problems and quite frankly we shouldnt NEED him to beat reggina). Janku also has injury problems, lets not overwork him, antonini could work too.

Finally i wouldnt necessarily throw away 4-2-3-1 just yet, we jut needa tinker w/ it... when pato + borriello r in it works.... we'd need flamini as 1 of DM's w/ gattuso/ambro because he has more energy to control midfield... and then we wouldnt need both janku and ambro, at WBs...

We need a win in this game, we cant overlook it for the derby. 3 of our first 4 against teams that'll prolly finish bottom 10, and we havent got results vs. first 2. I'm worried we'll overlook this one. Perhaps carlo should run out antonini and cardaccio too (hungry players who dont play much)

Bad News: I don't think Carlo will use Rino for this game so as to rest him and maybe let his injury heal. It was aggravated during that Lazio game.
Good News: Nothing much to worry as we have Flamini and even Cardaccio. It feels really good that we have so many options in Midfield

I have this sneaky feeling that Carlo Maybe might rest Borriello for this game if not its Pato coz im sure he doesnt want to risk both players with the Weekend Derby coming up and also Sheva didn't feature at all in the Lazio game.

My prediction : 3-1 ( Pato, Borriello, Shevchenko )

This is tricky... but I think it can be overcome with a 2-0 victory... our defense did hold up pretty well to the Lazio attacks, so it should do fine here as Reggina is mostly going to defend. Reggina doesn't score a lot of goals, but they do a lot of defending...

I don't think Rino will be playing this match. But no need to worry... the amount of options we have in midfield are endless. I really hope that Cardacio has his chance to play...

I would not play Favalli in defense, rather Antonini. He's a solid defender.

Players need to rest here so they're fresh for the game against Inert. Kaka and Maldini especially. I'll wait till the squads are released before I give my preferred formation. I don't think Senderos will be available but if he is, this would be a good game to try him out. Cardacio as well. Sheva and R80 to start as well.

This is all good. And as far as I saw against Zurich (who is comparable to Reggina quality wise), Sheva did pretty well... maybe he'll score against Reggina. Maybe even Viudez could play... I hope we stick to the 4-3-1-2 formation...

i think borriello is a must, he's only physical CF we have. Thats only way to open up game against smaller italian side who sits back.....Against inter we coudl theoretically play pato, sheva because itll be a more open free flowing game.

^^Agreed with that point about Borriello. We should play Borriello and Sheva up top with R80 behind. Kaka and Pato to come in the second half. I think we'll be forced to play Favalli because Janku n Zambro will need rest.

favalli's intangible's such as a rapist mustache and unnecessary celebrations when he does nothing, more than make up for is average marking, or lack of ability to run or cross the ball.

bring in favallinho

As Milano84 said, I think we have to start Boriello in this one. Reggina will put numbers behind the ball and will mostly try to counter on us. I would go for the 4-2-3-1 on this one but with Sheva, Seedorf and Dinho as the 3. This way when we attack Sheva can get in the box more often and act as a ST together with Boriello, and when we backtrack Seedorf can drop slightly deeper to help out the 2 in front of defence. I think it is a balanced line up knowing also how much Boriello and Sheva work for the team and pressure the backline. So on paper you can write it down as a 4-2-3-1 but ultimately down on the field it will look more like a 4-3-1-2 with a lot of support from Seedorf and Sheva dropping a bit deeper to help create.

-----------------Abbiati---------------
Zambrotta - Bonera - Kaladze - Antonini
--------Flamini---------Ambrosini-------
Seedorf------------------------Dinho---
---------------Sheva------------------
---------Boriello-----------------------

- Maldini can't play 2 games in 3 days so that's why I think he won't start.
- Galliani said that Gattuso's arm has swolen again so I think he will be rested for the game against the as*holes.
- Jankulovski has been one of our best players in this opening part of the season so I think he has a place in the derby next week, therefore a rest midweek will do him good
- Kaka has played a lot of minutes since his injury, and after the scare with the inflamation of his knee, I don't think it's smart to keep using him every 3 days for 90 minutes so that's why I think he should sit this one out.

I am not underestimating Reggina with all these changes, but it is wonderful to have a good bench after this long. The new introductions are Bonera, Antonini, Flamini, Dinho and Sheva all of whom are more then capable of beating Reggina. After all, in my oppinion we were the best in '03 through '05 not only because we had a great starting 11 but because we had the best bench and depth. Like someone said in the Lazio thread, it's great to be able to sit Rinno out and substitute him with someone like Flamini instead of Brocchi.

This is the same thing i have in mind. Its great to have so many options available. It seem that our transfers are actually working well for us.

Didn't know where to put this so I decided to put it here:

Quote:
At the autodrome of Monza, here's what Adriano Galliani said to the microphones and cameras.

"After having lost two matches and with only three points in the table, we have to stay calm. Three points aren't a lot, we have to run and recover the lost ground. Unfortunately the home defeat to Bologna, a match we did not deserve to lose, which complicated our lives. In any case, the tests show we are improving physically and you can see the team runs more. Yesterday I tried to tell the players: let's think about Reggina, not the derby. The three points at Reggio are as important as the ones in the derby."

"We have won a lot, because we stay calm also when we lose. For the rest if we got past Istanbul, everything else is relative. The credit goes to president Berlusconi who is the first to encourage us when things don't go well. Our coach was never in discussion anyway. My relationship with Ancelotti is unbreakable. He is the coach and he decides how the team should play. If I had to say my opinion, I'd always play with a first striker (Borriello or Inzaghi), a second striker (Pato, Shevchenko, or Ronaldinho), and a playmaker, like Kaká, Ronaldinho, or Seedorf. But it's up to Carletto. Now we have won a match but there are 35 left. In a straight match no team is stronger than ours, but in the league you have to try and win them all, not just against the big teams, but against the small and small-to-medium teams. Our performances in Italy, as opposed to the international stage where we have done great things, has been insufficient in the last two years and two matches. We have to improve on that in the next 35 games. Sheva and Dinho? We knew we had bought two big players who had not played much for two years, they are working very disciplined. When their condition will improve, they will certainly play. Mourinho? To tell the truth, I like him, he says intelligent things, he's a good arrival for all of Italian football."
When will the bald one make up his mind ? I agree with his player characterization this time but IIRC a couple months back, Seedorf and Kaka were strikers as well..what's happened since? I do agree with the statement that Kaka (AM) >>>>>>>>>>>>> Kaka (SS)

I agree with some people above who played this formation:

-----------------Abbiati---------------
Zambrotta - Bonera - Kaladze - Antonini
--------Flamini---------Ambrosini-------
Seedorf------------------------Dinho---
---------------Sheva------------------
---------Boriello-----------------------

It's simple, rest Kaka, Pato, Maldini, Jankulovski. Let others play, especially Antonini, sheva, dinho and cardaccio...
If we have a positive result bring cardaccio in for seedorf and thats it: team well rested for the derby!

Hopefully reggina will try to attack as they are playing at home so we should have an easier job taking them down.
