L'A.C. Milan comunica di aver risolto consensualmente il rapporto di lavoro con il calciatore Zeljko Kalac.
Nel ringraziarlo per quanto ha dimostrato nel corso dell’esperienza in rossonero, il Milan formula a Kalac i migliori auguri per il futuro.
L'A.C. Milan inoltre comunica di aver acquisito a titolo definitivo dall'A.S. Monaco le prestazioni sportive di Flavio Roma, che ha sottoscritto un contratto fino al 30 giugno 2010.

We have signed Flavio Roma from Monaco on a 1-year contract and Kalac has been released.

Don't know much about him but I'll wish him all the best as always. We don't usually see too much of backup keepers anyway.

I actually don't think he is a backup, for a month. I thought he is supposed to sub for Abbiati.

dont know what will happen with him. kalac leaves thats for sure. but what about dida and storari?

Apparently he didn't play that much last year because Monaco has a very good keeper. But before last season, he did an excellent job for them. So say my French sources...

I think he is a backup for a month or two ... to say the contrary of Jeff !!

He lost his place last year in Monaco because of some mistakes + injuries since 2 years + a younger and better GK to compete for the starting place.

So while he is a good GK, I don't think we'll count on him to be our starting GK ... and if we keep Dida (and Storari but he seemed to have become #2 in the hierarchy of the GKs), that means that our management wants 4 potential GKs for the first team ...

He's a capable backup*, I've always liked him, and I don't ever have to see Kalac again, it's a win-win-win situation.

*Although, I recall having an argument with somebody over whether he was Italian or not back in 2004, which is kind of embarassing...

Taht might work. I read from another forum taht there is actually some real possibility that Dida is leaving. I dno't know how reliable that rumor is though.

well, we all know that's not for the future. it is more of a short-term solution due to our dire financial situation. Dida has not been at his prime in the past years, but I actually (and always) believe he was a world-class goalkeeper. a 70%-in-form Dida easily beats a 100%-in-form Abbiati, unfortunately, in the recent years, Dida has become 50% some days, and 40% some other days, and very rarely 80%. Still, unlike some members here, I still think that he is potentially and realistically better than Kalac and Storari (I can't compare him with Roma, as I am not so familiar with this newcomer), it is just that his salary determines that he has to go, which should be the best solution for the club for the time being.

I agree with Jeff. I feel that the management hasn't been impressed with Storari, and since the Derby comes too soon, Roma will probably play as our #1.

The derby is over a month away, so there's plenty of time to continue weeding out our starting GK.

I like Storari but let's face it, he didn't earn the top spot for the time being on his own merit. Abbiati isn't just going to walk into the starting lineup upon his return, and it'd be nice if Dida got his *** back on the pitch again.

the short term transfer is positive in a way, meaning that maybe those Marchetti reports for next season may have had some truth in them?
