roma vs MILAN

Ok we just beat atalanta. I hope Pato's injury isnt serous but like others have said most probably wont be with us for ManU.

Roma losing to Panathinakos and drawing to Napoli hopefully has gotten their self belief down a lot. I feel like we can go to their house and come home with a 1-0 2-1 win.

Now with your permission i would like my parthner in crime Geo to do his magic cuz i did mine and we will see if the dynamic duo can continue to get us wins.

Get in here Geo....

PS my front 3 for this game is Mancini-----H11---------R80
and no bonera on defense. Flamini and Ambro middle. And the rest our normals..

LoL im so sorry but i really did not enjoy this win. And R80 should give a few PK to some others like people have said. I love the PK kickers that hit hard and fast. When you stutter step too much on the way to goal it feels like the % of making the goal drops big time.

Ill call Leo on his cell soon as im done with this post.

I'm glad Thiago isn't suspended for this. He was on a yellow today.

The midfield will most likely be Flamini-Pirlo-Ambro, which is probably our best three right now.

Mancini, based on what Leo said, will probably replace Pato for Roma. Or maybe Abate? I'm sure Borri will start, with Huntelaar coming on in the second. The big question is LB, RB. Should we stick with Bonera/Jankulovski? Where's Zambrotta?

After 26 games played, here is the integral table:

1st - Inter (58 pts)
2nd - Milan (54 pts)
3rd - Roma (51 pts)
4th - Palermo (43 pts)
5th - Juventus (41 pts)
6th - Napoli (41 pts)
7th - Sampdoria (40 pts)
8th - Cagliari (38 pts)
9th - Genoa (38 pts)
10th - Fiorentina (35 pts)
11th - Chievo (35 pts)
12th - Parma (33 pts)
13th - Bari (32 pts)
14th - Bologna (31 pts)
15th - Catania (27 pts)
16th - Udinese (27 pts)
17th - Lazio (26 pts)
18th - Livorno (23 pts)
19th - Atalanta (21 pts)
20th - Siena (20 pts)

06/03/10 - 18:00
Fiorentina - Juventus

06/03/10 - 20:45
Roma - Milan

07/03/10 - 15:00
Sampdoria - Lazio
Palermo - Livorno
Bologna - Napoli
Cagliari - Catania

07/03/10 - 20:45
Inter - Genoa

- Predicting a result in the Roma-Milan game is like playing lottery this time, as we don't know who will play, we don't know how they will feel some days before our win in Manchester, etc ... I unfortunately think that could end by a draw, probably pleasing both teams.

- I think Inter will draw against Genoa too ... Genoa is a B team of Inter now (with their trades of players) and if they want to still have a chance to end 4th, they must win or draw in the worst case. I don't see Inter losing, so it's written a draw all over !!

- Fiorentina - Juventus should allow Fiorentina to have a last chance of ending 4th and will give them some confidence before their game against Bayern. Yes, I expect Fiorentina to put Juventus in crisis again because Bianconeri are a boring team with a boring coach (0-2, the guy sends on the pitch his best two attacking weapons: Zebina and Grosso).

- Sampdoria, Napoli and Cagliari will have to win too ... while Palermo will have to play to keep their 4th position, it will be interesting to see how they play by being the hunted team.

And to finish, I think it is interesting to put the schedule of the Top 3 teams. Roma, Inter and Milan will have a tough battle in the next few games. Here are their next 5 games ...

Inter (3 hard games, I could include Catania as it will be just some days before their game against Chelsea):
- Genoa (H)
- Catania (A)
- Palermo (A)
- Livorno (H)
- Roma (A)

Milan (2 hard games, especially the one against Roma that will be very important for the near future in Serie A and also because of the fact that this game comes just some days before the one against Manchester):
- Roma (A)
- Chievo (H)
- Napoli (H)
- Parma (A)
- Lazio (H)

Roma (probably the most interesting schedule between the 3 top teams as they will receive both Milan and Inter and play, between these two games, against teams in trouble ... and they're out of the Europa League):
- Milan (H)
- Livorno (A)
- Udinese (H)
- Bologna (A)
- Inter (H)

Nothing else to say !!

To some extend Roma has two 6 pts game in hand. If I am a Roma fan, I will be very excited about these coming fixtures . First they play against Milan with Totti and Toni both making a comeback that game. Then against Inter.

Honestly, I am happy that Gattuso, Bonera, Pirlo and Borri got called into the NT, but if Lippi tried to tire them out before the Roma game, I will hunt him down, hahahaa.

I do think the Roma game will be very very tough for Milan. But hopefully, Borri will once again show Lippi that he is the better man by outdueling Toni in that game and not vice versa.

Damn the threads are coming in thick n fast like our wins. Well ntm to say bout Roma-Milan, will be a tough one for both teams. The key will be the defence, which ever side cracks first. Pato was just the right man to hurt Roma s deefnce. I m hoping Leo will use Huntlaar this time. Borrielo can play at the right in place of Pato and Huntlaar should play in the middle.Boriello s good at holding the ball. coz i m not very keen on seeing either Mancini or becks play when there are better players who actually deserve more playing time.

I think it's better to use the same kind of formation we used when Pato was previously out ... the formation we used during our last run of wins.

That means something like:

----- GK and defence -----
-- Flamini - Pirlo - Ambro --
Beckham -----------------
---------------- Ronaldinho
----------- ST ------------

This way, we'll have a stronger midfield against an attacking Roma (as Beckham actually plays the most on the same line as the midfield trio). Galliani talked about a possible change of formation if the injury of Pato is long (which nobody hopes it is) ...

Ronaldinho is on form, if Leonardo wants to surprise everybody, he could do the following:

----- GK and defence -----
-- Flamini - Pirlo - Ambro --
------- Ronaldinho --------
------ ST ------ ST -------

But with that kind of formation, Ronaldinho would have a free role (can go on the left if he wants). I don't know who the strikers would have to be, Huntelaar-Inzaghi, Huntelaar-Borriello (I really want to see them together), Borriello-Inzaghi ? And during the game, if we're leading it, you can replace a striker by Beckham, Ronaldinho by Mancini and ... if Seedorf is back, Pirlo or Ambro by Seedorf.

Anyway, it's unlikely to happen for such an important game against a close rival and few days before the clash in Old Trafford (which I repeat, will see Milan eliminating Manchester).

Damn, I haven't seen the goals (the video from youtube is still buffering) and now there's already a new thread

Anyway I agree with the 1st part of your post Geo. I'd rather to see Mancini, but he's just recovered so I think putting Becks in Pato's place would be a good idea. I disagree with the latter part though. Dinho no longer has the agility to play as a 3/4. I think he'd better stick to do what he's doing the best nowadays: provide some killer passes

What lets me thing that Ronaldinho can play in this position with a free role nowadays is:
- he is better physically than during the first games of the season
- he is technically back to a great level, especially comparing to the start of the season (when he missed 9 dribbles on 10 attempts)
- he is confident
- the other players are confident and in good form too

These 4 reasons make me think that any formation can work, and actually, each coach will tell you that the formation isn't the most important thing as long as your players give their maximum and are confident of their power (of course, it has some limits: if you put a central defender in a winger position ...).

Anyway, like I said, it's unlikely to happen and I would worry a bit if Leo tries it now (would have been better earlier in the season with tests during the winter break for example).

Why do we have to win in Roma?
I mean, we have a big fight on Old, so, wouldn't be better if we try something new? A new tactic with 2 strikers.
My choise would be: Oddo and Zambro on DR/L to recover them for Old, Pirlo-Flamini-Beckham to rest Ambrosini, and in the attack Mancini-Dinho behind Klaas. And in the second half, Klaas for Pippo, Dinho for Abate. Complete rest Boriello and Ambrosini, and we have Adija for right winger, so why don't try him on the position of Pato?
We have to decide what is more important: try to beat Roma, but then to lose against Manchester. Or to try something new against Roma, lose, but then go with all our power to Old TRafford.
I would do the second one, because, we can cache Roma the whole season (12 more games), but we have just one chance to beat Manchester, and to do this we must have all players full fit
