They will must win against Inter to stay. Genoa play against Fiorentina ,so it's 3 points for them.

Ok, so relegation battle is absolutely INSANE!!!

Empoli beating Torino means that at the moment, Genoa is about to be relegated. Who would have thought.
Parma also just beat Montella's Fiorentina 1-0. Montella!!!

So in the final round, we have:
- Fiorentina - Genoa.
This is almost a head-to-head for relegation. The first game ended 0-0, so if Genoa beats Fiorentina, then they would have the better head-to-head and therefore end ahead of Fiorentina. Of course, Fiorentina is above Udinese and Empoli in the table, so in order for them to get relegated they would need to lose to Genoa and Empli to win/Udinese to draw. So 3 results have to go a certain way for Fiorentina to get relegated. Not highly likely of course, but still a possibility.

- Cagliari - Udinese
Udinese is in a better situation as they have a better head to head with Genoa, so if Genoa wins, and Udinese loses, Genoa still would get relegated. Now it gets tricky and interesting as theoretically, 4 teams can end the season on 40 points (Genoa, Udinese, Fiorentina, Bologna).

- Inter - Empoli
Simple for Empoli. Win, and you are safe. Lose, and you need Genoa to lose, because Genoa they ties and ends on same amount of points, Genoa has a better head to head and they would be safe. So really, this works for us beautifully. Empoli can not lose if Genoa doesn't lose. A tie will be enough if Genoa doesn't win, but that's too risky so Empoli will definitely play this game to win it. I am hoping that Genoa is at least holding a tie vs Fiorentina in the other game so that the Empoli players don't relax or stop playing like they would if for example Genoa was down by a couple of goals.

- Bologna - Napoli
A very tough game for Bologna. All they need is a tie, but that's not simple against Napoli. If they lose and Genoa wins, we will have AT LEAST a 3 team tie at 40 points. In that case, Genoa holds a better head-to-head with both Bologna and Fiorentina. haha


Too many scenarios in play. I don't remember a relegation battle like this in a looong time, if ever. My hope is for the following:
1) Empoli beats Inter (Inter as a result doesn't make it into the CL)
2) Bologna tie/win vs Napoli and be safe
3) Udinese tie/win vs Cagliari and be safe
4) Genoa beats Fiorentina and therefore Fiorentina is relegated Just imaginr the price for Chiesa at that point!! haha And just imagine Montella's press conference.......eeerrrmmm, we had 15 shots on goal and 70% possession. We created more scoring opportunities than any of the other Serie A teams.

Wait, you are telling me there is a chance for Fiorentina to get relegated? Weren't they once in the race for EL or even CL? LOL! I would love to see that happen!

Bologna also have game against Lazio which have nothing to play for. They can't in CL and they have EL group stage booked by Coppa ,so it possible that Bologna get 1 point there.

Haha yes! It's crazy. It's also not that far fetched either. I don't doubt that Genoa can beat them. It remains to be seen whether Empoli can beat Inter though.

We now need the last two successful Milan coaches to help us out.

That would be really crazy! 40 points are usually considered safe from relegation.

Juve being Juve

Thanks Napoli. The pressure could really get to Inter next week. I am staying hopeful. The coverage on Premier could have been better. And as for the co-commentator, How annoying. Every line ended up with a question being asked. I thought Keown was the expert in that.

Of course Juve and refs are the way they are, and not only about today .... but we are not even deservedly fifth.
