There is some controversy with that deal ...
Looks like that contract is illegal, well, it was this way when I checked this afternoon. It may have changed since.
PS : Saha is far, really far to be as good as Klose.
Was Saha bought in January? If so, why did we just know it now? If not, isn't it after the winter window already?
His contract with Sunderland was terminated so he was a free agent that can be signed any time, in theory any way.

But it looks like his contract was stopped after the mercato too and it seems there is a rule saying players becoming free out of the mercato weeks can't sign before the following window.
If he had stopped his contract in January, he would have been free to sign in any club in Italy until March 31st.
Thanks for the information. Let's hope that Saha won't be useful for Lazio at all. :d
IIRC Rivaldo also came when the mercato is closed, didn't he? He was free contract also when we got him. CMIIW
Transfer windows are only for contracted players. If a player does not have a contract, he is free to join any team at any time.

Wrong, in Italy, there is a window to sign free players ... And it ends the 31st of March.
Anyway, it seems there is something wrong in the rule, and Lazio, to officially get Saha and stop the controversy about Italian rules and FIFA rules, played with the translation of English words in Italian.
And yesterday, FIGC refused that contract, but Lazio complained to FIFA and FIFA seems to have accepted it. Of course, FIFA rules are priority over national rules ...
So Saha is a Lazio player now and won't be that useful for them anyway as he's not that good and once Klose will be back in one month, Saha will directly go sitting on the bench. So stupid move by Lazio, they let Rocchi go, and they take Saha, what's the point ? A useless player going, a useless player replacing him.
Saha's not likely to give Lazio anything much, it's pointless worrying about it imo.
Milito injured long term, big loss for Inter.
