Summer transfer window 2018
Bakayoko would be a great addition on a loan with option. I'm confident he wouldn't be the only midfield addition and he would be pushing Kessie in competition and possibly Biglia. As Geo mentioned, he'd also allow us to shift to a 2 man midfield if needed.

I saw R&B after this rumour yesterday and they were having a meltdown for some reason. I don't understand the logic, Bakayoko was excellent for Monaco and has had 1 bad season in a Chelsea side that was far from stable. A loan is low risk and potentially high reward.

Yeah, it could allow us to put this team on the pitch :
Donna
Calabria/Conti - Caldara - Roma - Rodriguez
Kessie - Bakayoko
Suso - Calhanoglu - Bona
Higuain

This way, you keep the good right side from last year and adds Calhanoglu as a new target in this trio.
On the left, that would allow Bonaventura to be a bit more free, as Bakayoko would add solidity in the midfield, and Rodriguez could also try to go forward a bit more often.
That also opens solutions like Bona and Calhanoglu changing their positions during the game, making it hard for the opponents to defend.

On the paper, I think this team is quite better and even more balanced than our current 4-3-3 with the slow Biglia in the middle and one of Calha or Bona being in the midfield and, as a consequence, being less effective/creative than when they are higher on the pitch (because Calha can try risky passes, and from the midfield, the risk is higher when you miss that pass than when you're on the left as a winger, and Bonaventura likes to dribble, which is more effective when he's on the wing against one RB than in the midfield in the middle of many opponents).

In this 4-2-3-1, our roster is the following :
GK - Ok
LB : Rodriguez and Strinic + Antonelli
CD : Roma, Caldara, Musacchio, Zapata
RB : Calabria and Conti + Abate
DM/CM : Kessie, Bakayoko, Biglia, Locatelli + Bertolacci, Montolivo
LW : Bonaventura (Calhanoglu)
AM : Calhanoglu (Bonaventura)
RW : Suso, Halilovic
Attack - Ok

The DM/CM position can be different depending on the opponent (against the top 6 : Kessie-Bakayoko / against small teams : Locatelli or Biglia can take one of these spots and be a bit higher on the pitch).
We still lack two players anyway (AM-LW).
We could easily switch to a 2 striker formation with no AM too.

I'm convincing myself by writing all that ... Big Grin
The arrival of Bakayoko could actually open a lot of solutions for us !
One should not speak ill of the dead.
So stop laughing at Juventus !
No more hope for Reina in Chelsea ...

Chelsea paid the release clause of Kepa from Athletic Bilbao (80M !).
Courtois is set for Madrid.

Funny RM has been so desperate for a new GK, the position they have the least problem imo.

You don't know Kepa Arrizabalaga ?! Do you really follow football ?!

Hum ... Just kidding, I don't know him neither actually ! Sagrin
I couldn't care less about Spanish football, so I don't know who is this young GK and what is his level.
All I know is that now, he's the most expensive GK ever (the second one is Alison a few weeks ago).

Kovacic should also arrive in London for medical tests today for Chelsea (source : Sun).

It looks like Manchester made a 100M offer for SMS (which means Pogba is more and more out).
It will be funny to see if Lotito accepts that, after he said yesterday or today that he refused 110M last year and that SMS' value is higher than the one of Pogba ... Who feels we have our "idiot of the year" there ?

Must be a fantastic goalkepa.  Devilol

Was heavily linked with Real Madrid last season. Has plenty of U18-21 caps for Spain and even one senior cap.

Spanish football might be of interest to Donnaruma.
