When is that over-rated Chiellini gonna get dropped from Italian NT.. my lord that guy is way past his prime.. Clearly for now it should have been Romagnoli-Bonuci or Romagnoli-Rugani or Romagnoli-Caldara.. that guy is a living fossil.. clearly living on reputation alone.. couldnt have have followed Buffon out the door and retire from NT to let the new generation takeover.. that old sack of shit..

Romagnoli should start partnering with Bonucci. Chiellini is 34 yo and would not fit to play a major tournament in the next 2 or 4 years. Mancini spoke about young player but he still used veteran. It is not that Romagnoli is inferior to Chiellini.

Well, we already know Mancini who can only talk, just like his time with Inter who were very international.

Ironically, even with Chiellini in the starting XI, the Corriere dello Sport did some math and turns out that the squad vs Poland was the youngest in 42 years.

But I agree, Chiellini should be benched, and it was pretty evident that, even though Bonnuci didn't have the best of times at Milan, his partnership with Romagnoli was better than his with Chiellini.

It's the "Italian" way....to rely on experience. They all talk about the changes they wanna make, and how the system is messed up, etc, etc, etc. Then they get in and do the same things wrong things.

They refused to freshen up the team by gradually introducing young players after 2006. Years later, after failures wuth the current crop of veterans, it's the same thing.

As it was said, Chiellini will most likely not play a part in the next Euros and most definitely not the next WC. So then what the hell was the point of playing him in this "friendly". These are the types of games that you can use to introduce players like Romagnoli, Rugani, etc.

Precisely..the dude is 34.. his time in the NT is clearly over.. and yet they are playing him to add to his international caps.. for what benefit is that..? Friendlies are to shape the team to play together as much as possible while adapting to the coaches philisophy.. but Mancini is complaining abt clubs not grooming players while he himself is playing someone who is past his due date

There some questions about Mancini's decision on selecting players. Balotelli was starter not Immobile. How can he prefered player from French League than Serie A? Immobile is Serie A top scorer! 28 goals in a thight-defense League compare to 18 from average League? You just cant pick player because you like him. There should be understandable criteria on the selection of the players. Mancini seems not to bother at all about the form Cutrone showed last season. He called up Pellegri instead who is much younger and did nothing special compared to Milan striker. Cutrone plays in Serie A! Mancini should prefer Serie A players and we are comparing to French League.

I don't understand that decision at all. Immobile looks like a clear choice to me atm. Which is not the greatest of situations, but it is what it is.

Pellegri started to show something this season in Monaco. So taking him isn't an issue. Not taking Cutrone can be seen as an issue. About Balotelli, I think Mancini's been right to call him back, but not sending him on the pitch in these games as he's totally out of form (he thought he would be sold and wasn't serious during the summer).
