Summer mercato 2020

But where does it belong? Where is Milan now??? The answer is nowhere! We are also nowhere! So if Rangnick can take us from nowhere, to CL, like he did Leipzig, than what is the problem with that??

We need to stop talking about the 7 CL. We need to look at the reality. If people that are being realistic are "on drugs".....then what the hell are people that keep talking about "where Milan belongs" and "7 CL" on??? Maybe you should tell us what drugs you are on, so that we can all take them and just continue living in the past, where everything is still nice and beautiful and where Milan still matters in the world of football. Because where we are...it doesn't and it hasn't for at least 7-8 years.

At  the moment we stop knowing who we are are, we will stop existing. Those 7 CL , Italian Championships won, players who have worn this shirt.. have to be the pathway for the future. I dont know who might be on drugs here, but comparing ACM to Leipzig is "very comprehensible" . The reality my friend is harsh for us, we havent won a thing for a decade, but that doesnt change a thing that AC Milan is one of the most glorious clubs in the world, and a comparison to Leipzig is an INSULT to a healthy human brain.  Expectations that a 'glorious' german coach or manager like Rangnick who has barely won 2.5 titles in his career , would lift the club to the heights for me, are  ..... bull crap.  You spit on Maldini already, yet , he is shall remind you since 2 years in charge. The first year we hardly missed out the boat taking us to where we belong, and instead of continuing where we left , the management you are supporting decided to go a different way,.....

I hope for you that Rangnick will make the CL in some hundred years from now. good luck with that
The past defines who we used to be.
The present defines who we are.

Do we have a glorious history? Yes, and nothing can change that.
Can we have a glorious future some time? Hopefully, yes...

I am not spitting on Maldini. If you read my previous post, you'll see my admiration and love for him. As I said, i'd love for him to stay.

I am not comparing Milan to Leipzig. I am not crazy. I have supported this club since 1992 and know exactly what the name and colors stand for and what they mean. That also doesn't mean that I should be delusional about the situation Milan is in right now.
So, I am comparing Milan's situation to Leipzig's situation several years ago (because Leipzig is in a hell of a lot better situation now....in no small part due to the man you're spitting on). Not sure how it's different. The fact that we are Milan is irrelevant when it comes to what I am talking about. Are you forgetting Dani freaking Olmo turned us down for Leipzig? Are you forgetting that Dani Ceballos was ok with going to Arsenal instead of Milan? Are you forgetting that Jean Clair Todibo chose Schalke instead of Milan? How about Kabak?
What you are forgetting my friend, is that we haven't been relevant for 7-8 years. 17-22 year olds aren't "dreaming" of playing for Milan like they used to. They wanna play for Real, Barca, Man city, Chelsea...and even shit clubs like Schalke it seems. These are all clubs (except for Real) that can shine our shoes when it comes to history...but does it matter??? The fact that "we are Milan" didn't help us the past 8 years, did it? We didn't magically just return to glory. We didn't magically sign players and turn them into stars, did we? Even though we spent a shit load of money and nearly bankrupted the damn club. We were massively mismanaged starting from B&G's late years to F&M's shitshow. Funds misappropriated. Signed "names" rather than players with a thought out plan. 10, 15+ years ago, Dani Olmo would take it up the ass to come to Milan. Ceballos would have told Real Madrid "it's Milan or nothing", and Kabak would have been happy to be 4th choice just so he can pull on the famous red and black shirt rather than giving bullshit excuses like "Schalke is better for development" as he did this past summer.

And just to be clear...I don't think Maldini is on a wrong path. Read my previous post and you'll see. But again...I just don't understand why Rangnick coming (other than Maldini leaving, which as I said I hope doesn't happen) is a bad thing and it immediately means we'll be fighting relegation. Why does it always have to be "names"? Why can't we see what someone has done and judge them for that? If Rangnick could be one of the main faces behind taking Leipzig from 2nd division to CL football and evwn title challengers....than why wouldn't he be able to do it at Milan? JUST because "this is Milan"? Makes no sense to me. In reality, it should be easier since he'll have more pull with Milan than with Leipzig. Will he do it?? Who the hell knows? But presently, there is no viable reason as to "why not"?

We are a club that's barely pulling in 200mil in revenue per year. Partners are leaving us and lowering their sponsorship amounts. Players are rejecting us. This is simply NOT sustainable. We can not move forward in this way. We are not capable of signing big players. Even talented young established ones are rejecting us for different options. There is no other way. No other way than to literary start from the basics. Establish a base of scouts. Establish a culture. Establish a plan to go forward and get everyone on board. Otherwise, we'll be spinning our wheels and talking about the same shit 10 years from now again.

And ro be clear....what are you suggesting? I'm not really sure to be honest. Are you wanting us to continue the way things are? I am not being an asshole. I'm truly asking what you think the solution is and what the future should be.
Good, although i agree with most of your post up there , that the situation isnt splendid, and so on ... i am firm on my opinion ( not disrespecting yours in no manner) , that former players have to be leading the revolution and reincarnation if you want so. Because of his age Baresi wouldnt be the man, but, Maldini is the symbol of the club. He knows everything about the club at best, kicking him out and letting , someone who has never had a touching point with the club, do what ever he wants is a complete NO GO for me. i am quite confident that Gazidis alongside Rangnick will never make ACM be the old again. time of course will show, but Milan must be run by people who know what the brand AC MILAN means, if you want success. (on a side note, who the fuck are Todibo, Olmo , and diverse monkeys and who cares if they refused to join us, when i know that this club has hosted football legends with triple golden balls)

back to my idea, Leonardo's departure last year, was a clear sign that this management's intentions are not to spend and get some quality players. i remember as soon as Elliot appointed Gazidis, things started to go downwards for us. Leonardo had quite some names on his list, yet the cunt named Gazidis blocked their transfers. Sequence to that , we missed out on the Champions league. Same with Boban this year. He and Maldini kept asking for players who would make us stronger and help us reach the CL qualification. Both of them got sacked. This lets us understand that Elliot's intention isnt ACM in the CL, yet, their own profit. And if you say, Elliot is a hedge fund and are after their money, than , they are in a wrong place because ACM isnt the proper turf for their bizz. If things go wrong until december, they will face strong protests and disagreement by the fans. After that, here you are again another Annum Zero. And this will never end, until someone pays enough and buys the club.
Elliot must understand that if you want to make the club make more revenue, and raise clubs worth they have to invest in players that can guarantee you success and sequential participation in the UEFA CL. Year by year participating in the major competition, the problems will get solved by itself. I am afraid with that project of U-23 , we will for long time not manage to be part of the CL. Hope and pray i am wrong.
We can honestly regret that last year we missed out on the CL ,... otherwise wouldnt have been talking this crap now. ...erm, i am not saying that CL would have solved immediately all of the issues we have, but, would have given a strong boost in the proper direction and would have quietened Gazidis and his moron fellowship.
My final word is Milan to Milanistas 4ever.
Understanding the glory of the team doesn't mean much if UEFA expels the team from CL, we won't be closer or better with fines and exclusions. Also, a former player doesn't get to change FFP, the spending you mention can not come before getting close to FFP break even rules. Leonardo expected Milan to be PSG, I rather not be 'creative' with FFP because I don't want Milan's name to be in the same sentence as PSG and Man City. You probably agree with this last point and don't want Milan to compared with a team like PSG.
If a multibillionaire comes *AND* FFP is dead then may be it can be different.
I still don't see how Elliott will benefit making Milan a relegation or even mid table team. They might fail but they need the team to be successful.
Reza, i dont think that Leonardo intended to make Psg out of us and splash loads of $$. I wont make his advocacy here, but, with the signings he planed, we would make it to the CL.
Elliott is intending to extract as much as possible by selling players who were bought for cheap. They dont care if Milan wins or not. They are after money. As simple as that
I understand the reason behind the opinion to stick with the Milanistas. However, it’s not the original, the real one.
The team was not big just because of its players, but foremost because of the back office staff. The conditioning coach, the medical staff, the scouting team... Those people brought, developed, and maintained the quality of Maldinis, Baresis, Van Bastens, Shevchenkos.
Unfortunately, the financial situation made those people gone first. That’s why we turned to older, used stars and hoped some will give couple more seasons Of great football. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.
Then, we were sold. Money came, but the back office was gone. Scouting sucked, luck disappeared, Milan Lab was behind the curve. Without success, we changed ownership again. The famous past players failed as managers because the culture was not there, the support was gone.
Money came again, we brought more Milanistas, we bet on a manager that was supposed to be the future of Italy. We failed more miserably than ever. Knee jerk reaction didn’t solve the situation. Our team was barely able to run for a game, injuries piled up, scouting sucked again.

We have to change the team, but throwing money on players will not change the situation. We have to fix the core first. We have to follow the modern setup of a team. We have to bring the technology back into the back office. We have to build the culture. We have to improve the scouting team...
Unfortunately, Maldini and Boban were not able to do it. They put the money on Giampaolo, and when they lost the bet, they were not able to change direction. They are not the future, they are nostalgic view at the past that is not here for kore than a decade.

That’s why I support the Rangnick idea. Because it’s different approach to change. Because it tries to fix the problem at the root, at the club level, not just first team changes.
We need someone to rebuild the club, stop the loss of money on unproven players, invest in the prospective talent, and prepare as modern clubs are preparing.
Hopefully, it will stick this time and we’ll see success, maybe not in a year, but as soon as possible.

I know some of these links, like always, are crap. But we've actualy had some agents (like Szoboszlai's) confirm our interest in them. So again, the question would be...who from milan is leading this transfer campaign?

Good question. For all we know, despite the rumors, Maldini could already be working toward a team Under Rangnick.

(05-17-2020, 04:14 PM)nefremo Wrote: No team that Rangnick has been involved with the past 5 years has been a relegation battler. On the contrary, they've been in the CL. There is nothing to suggest that we will be fighting relegation or even in midtable  if he comes aboard.

Are you correct? Maybe. Who knows? But you are not basing any of your words on what we've seen Rangnick do.

I love Maldini. He is my hero, my legend. I will never say a bad word about him and I wish he would stay. I've defended him as well and I agree that the only true mistake he made was Giampaolo. Unfortunately, it doesn't look likely that he and Rangnick can coexist. And as much as I love Maldini, if he were to leave and Rangnick was going to take over, I don't see it as such doom and gloom. There is absolutely nothing out there to suggest that Ralf can't repeat his success with Milan. Not worried about signing unknowns from lower leagues. I'd actually rather that, provided the fact that these are well scouted individuals with a defined plan on how they'll be used.....than signing random names like we have been in the last 7-8 years.

On Hernandez.....Maldini takes credit for sure because he saw something in the player and obviousy played a vital role in convincing him.

Same thing with Rangnick's signings. People (you seem to be like this now) will not be happy with signing a player from the Belgium league that they've never heard about. That would mean we'd be fighting relegation. In reality, if there is good scouting, plan and a thought process, more than likely people will change their minds quickly just like with Theo.

100% on everything here. I will add though. Why not a kid we've never heard of from the Belgium League vs some kid we've never heard of from the Brazilian league? Particularly when Brazilians have a high failure rate in Europe?

Yep. This is why I keep saying no to him. We need to stop spending big on high risk youngsters.
Less Paqueta's and more Bennacer's.

All these things.
I will add that we need to stop thinking of us as the same club as 15 years ago.
We've been nobodies and a mid table team for some time now. However, it's our history that has allowed us to continue punching above our weight. We've tried old players. time and time again and it's gotten us nowhere. time for a new approach and, if all Rangnick achieves is getting us to CL then that's better than everyone else for years.

Screw Leonardo! He screwed us once before and the minute things were looking difficult this time he jumped ship. At he end of the day Leonardo is only effective when given the money to be able to do as he wishes.

100% 7 UCL's doesn't mean shit with FFP. and the reason no buyers have come up is because we're in the too hard basket. Elliot are here to change things around. Once we become profitable there will be plenty of buyers who can then push us further forward.

100% THIS!
We've tried the same shit tactic time and time again hoping something would change. We keep overspending on risky players and hoping that one will become the next big thing. Meanwhile we're leaking money from every which way and, because we've been irrelevant for so long, the money coming in keeps dropping.
We need to drastically change things and Rangnick represents a proper new approach.
Will he win us UCL? Probably not. But IF he does what he has so far with others, brought them back to UCL, that would already be a huge improvement. The UCL money, plus the added sponsorship money from us being an UCl club, is desperately needed.
