It's getting so crazy out there. Alaba agreed a contract with Madrid for 150m over the next 4-5 years of contract. What is going on..... In what world is Alaba worth that salary?

The key to a sustainable project isn't keeping around the same player, it is to build a pipeline that continues to product good players for us. Look at Atalanta, every year they sell somebody from their core. And yet, as soon as they do that, they come right back and three new players that came from nowhere ended up becoming superstars. That is the model we have to follow. Serie A is not going to be competitive with EPL or Barca/Madrid clubs in the world and we can't expect to keep our players around forever.

I know right..? Alaba for 150m /4-5 years contract.. if Maldini , Nesta or Baresi were available today.. u probably need to prepare 300-400m for a 5 year contract.. lol.. Anyway.. i think its probably because Alaba was a free transfer.. if going by normal transfer fee.. he could probably go for like 60-90million.. only still 28 yrs old.. at the peak age and prime of career.. signing on bonus too maybe..?

I might be in the minority here, but I actually think Giroud would be a really good signing. Our attack relies on a CF who can link up plays very well. Every time we play without Ibra this year, Leao and Rebic had trouble getting anything going as the CF because they don't have the ability to link up and make plays with their feet or physicality. Giroud is the perfect player for that job description. Him and Ibra would basically be a platoon at the CF. Icardi is certainly more talented, but he is more of a poacher and can't link up play as well which makes me think he wouldn't be a strong fit for our system.

Yep Giroud would be closer to like for like so, in theory, we can play the same formation and style regardless of who is on the pitch up top. It's very much where we struggled this year. I've said it time and time ag

We need good back up CF, Giroud is not the best choice but far from the worst too. Especially if any money is saved for CF spot then there should be more for ACM and RW. If both Hakan and Diaz leave they can not be replaced randomly, at least one must be high quality, for CL matches even higher quality than De Paul.

I think we could definitely make do with Zlatan and Giroud if we bring in a top CAM and RW. We could then work on getting a longer term replacement for Ibra at the end of next season.

We'll see what road we take. Having said that...I'm all for being financially responsible. Pay those that perform but be disciplined.

This. We won't be able to compete with their model until the Serie A gets more money from TV rights and sponsorship deals. Until then we need to become a BVB.
A team that's able to compete with the big guys but also develops most of their players and sells for top $$$

Ah. Free transfer, I missed that part. In that case, they are spending what they would've spent to buy him nd put him on a normal wage. Seems like a good strategy for players to make a lifetime in one contract lol

This is an interesting one. Mate of mine is a huge Chelsea fan and was talking about this kid the other week. Everyone thinking he's got the goods to become the next big thing but not sure where he fits best. RB or RW.

I'm not so sure about Milan being a selling club for too long. If we go back to being competitive and Juventus & Merda hold some ground, I'm pretty sure Serie A will have its say in European football.

Very few things can rival a packed San Siro stadium in a champions league match. We have all our ducks in a line to go back to the top. Italy needs to be creative, the clubs are not starved for budget and do have some pretty high earners in the league. What we need is to bring the allure back, and I think it's going very strongly in the right direction .

Precisely.. its sort of similar to the stunt that Dollaruma tried to pull.. but where Dollaruma failed and Alaba succeeded.. its quite simple actually why it worked for Alaba.. all Top teams need atleast 3 High Calibre defenders.. for the X11 u need 2.. sometimes 3 depending on formation.. although there are more high calibre defenders, there are also many slots in many teams.. for a GK though, u need 1 WC and 1 highly competent replacement.. max 2 per team.. and 1 young upcoming one in the books.. You cant pull off a stunt like Dollaruma and expect to succeed unlike u are an established, consistent and solid all round GK like Ederson, Neuer or Allison.. as high as his Potential Ceiling is, his actual performance at the moment is not that much better than Szczesny.. the only thing he has on other GKs is his age.. and potential to outshine them all.. even that is not a guarantee.. its a big IF n maybe.. 

Major Europeans clubs should just have a meeting of sorts to have an informal agreement abt having a salary cap.. to control the spiral of wages and expenditure.. seeing how Super League went down the drain.. i dun see other ways to keep finances stable.. having a cap or informal agreements would massively take away power from cunts like Raiola from being able to hold clubs hostage for money..
