Santos coached Greece for 4 years but other than what's he done ? All due respect but Greece is at least one step behind Portugal. Greece are always solid but on paper Portugal SHOULD  threaten in most tournaments.

Euro 16, wasn't that the one when Portugal got through as a "lucky loser" type of scenario? I think they finished 3rd in the group but got lucky/hot and won. VERY lucky but fine he has points for that.

Sorry, I might be just be some bum at home whose opinion matters little  but I don't rate the other two competitions. I see them as contests for the sake of competitions. 
So Santos has a VERY lucky Euro title. I still think he is shit though

Exactly my friend. Just to remind..Portugal got silverware under Santos. Before him nothing. Of course there is a crisis in the Portugal NT, but Santos is not the only one to blame. Look at CR and the problems he causes…

I must partially thank Santos for sending Serbia to World Cup. It is truth that we played greatly but his cowardly "tactics" contributed to that. Portugal have more quality team than we, they were huge favorites, had game at home and yet they decide to play for "not to lose". In my opinion, serious coach simply can not do that.

On a perhaps unrelated topic, I am amazed at how many talents Portugal has, yet they (the NT) can't play to their full potential. What is not going right?

Simple... the coach.

I would fire Giunti. The money we've invested (Roback, Jungdal, Bjorklund,  Makengo  and Kerkez) in bringing international talent to go with Alesi and Capone and we've won 1 match. This has to be on Giunti. We lost our last match 5-1 to Verona.

100% the talent is there. doesn't mean we need to be winning everything but we can't be as bad as the results have been

IMO... I would put 80% of the Serbia win on Fernando Santos. no offence to Serbia. They've got a lot of fight and some great players but overall, Portugal is a class above in terms of talent.
For those blaming Ronaldo... who puts him on the pitch? Who designs the tactics to suit him? Who puts on Felix every game despite him doing nothing. Who takes of Renato Sanches despite him being one of the best on the pitch? who starts Guedes in RW? playing as average as we were in the first half. WHo's job is to put a fire up the players' asses to get them to come on and fight as hard as Serbia. 
So many mistakes made in the one game and even more mistakes made in the game against Ireland. Plays a CDM as CB? with Dias and Fonte on the bench? Brings on Leao who looks to be our only dangerous attacker. Takes him off shortly after once Pepe gets unfairly red carded. Meanwhile Ronaldo who looks tired and has done nothing all game stays on. 
We need a coach with the balls to make the tough calls and who's capable of getting all the talent we have working.
It's no coincidence that Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Jota, Bernardo Silva, all kill it in the EPL but fail to perform for Portugal. Is it all their fault? or is the coah not good enough to make them work? 
anyway. sorry. there's my rant. Probably not the place for it though.

@Paolo_Bargiggia‬⁩ : Romagnoli made up his mind, he is refusing every destination to stay at Milan, in order to do that he’s going to accept halving his salary to be around 3m.

Bennacer stretched off while on NT. Not sure how serious this injury is. They have said it's cramp, but we will see.

So far Bennacer,  Calabria and Ballo all injured while on NT.
