Summer mercato 2024

1. The star of Milan is still Leao. Having Morata means he will have the best support to shine, and the board still trust him.
2. Morata can adapt and contribute quickly, with his experience & personalities.
3. Other choices: Lukaku has higher ceiling but his ground may be deeper than the earth. Aside from him, Zirkzee and the likes are still young, we are not sure if they can reach a successful career like Morata, who was hyped more at their age.
4. In the last season, we don't lack goals, we were just too generous to our opponent. Standing 2nd in Serie A is ok, scored less than only Inter is acceptable, but conceded more than 9 teams is unacceptable.

EDIT: Using Morata for 2 years, wating Carmada to mature is not bad, IMO.

If we can't be sure that Zirkzee would be successful, a Dutch international with a very good season in Serie A behind him, we can't be sure Camarda will either... Also, even in two years time Camarda will still only be 18 and probably not ready to lead our attack unless something unexpected happens and he turns out to be a generational talent.

Last time we were linked with Morata it was a big no from many people in here, wasn't it? Now at almost 32 he's ok? Seems like we're happy with strikers scoring +/- 14 goals. I remember Gilardino was for mocked scoring these amount of goals even when he had to share the goalscoring with Shevchenko, but when Giroud did the same as our main striker he had broken the "curse of number 9". Our standards have dropped.
Earlier this year we were linked with Portuguese talent Renato Veiga from Basel. Now he's signing an 8 year contract with Chelsea. I guess we can pick him up in 2-3 years time when he still hasn't played a single match for them yet. Sagrin

still a big no for me, lots of better option out there, why morata, if you want striker like morata but have more room for growth we can go after sesko, boniface, gyokeres, why morata though, is it because he is cheaper?

Of course it's because he's cheaper. Anyway, the ones you mentioned would be way too expensive anyway. A lot more than Zirkzee.

Sesko was €65m before he signed his new 5 year contract where he will earn up towards €10m per season. We can't/won't pay these sums.
Sporting wanted at least €90m for Gyökeres, at least according to what was reported. Way too expensive.
Boniface had his breakout season for the Bundesliga winners scoring 21 goals in 34 matches and still has 4 years left on his contract. Would not come cheap.

Regarding Zirkzee, we tried to wait until the commissions went away like some kind of magic. They didn't and we lost him to a richer club. You can't be indecisive and slow in this game.
Pietro Mazzara sums it up quite right:

"Milan is fighting alone a systemic battle which is that of the commissions, but until there are regulations from above, it will be an ideological battle that will bring more defeats than victories."
Fonseca press conference today:

Fonseca said Milan don't need to spend because already have a good amount of talent to begin with. Just a couple of positions need work.

He will be sleeping at the club's training ground.

Ibrahimovic has confirmed that Ballo-Toure and Origi have been called up for Milan Futuro.

Saelemaekers is back.

New striker = Mr X

Q: You arrive amid fan skepticism, what do you feel like telling them?

Fonseca: “I have a great desire to get going and to be able to convince the fans. I want to make the fans believe that we will be an ambitious team that will play to win. I know the responsibility I have and I am the one who must convince the fans.

We lose almost nothing if Camarda can't be our Torres (I mean A. Madrid case).

Morata last year is no for me because we had Giroud. Now we lack serious experience in the attack.

And yes, you are right. Our standard dropped, compare to the time we had Sheva and signed Gila and signed Pato and sign Ronaldo Big Grin

Chelsea is handing out contracts like an Major League Baseball team lol. These damned players getting 8, 10 year deals lol
Morata is only OK if he comes with another striker. But zirkzee seems gone, too bad, kid is talented for sure. Maybe J.David!?

Fonseca, morata, emerson royal, we are going for the average here, I smell little ambition.
Morata coming with another striker simply means that other striker is going to be a low cost gamble too. If they sign someone really good, like, say a Sesko type, they wouldn't need to waste money on Morata. This most likely becomes a Morata/Lukaku + Broja situation, which is absolute garbage, and I'd rather spend 55M on Zirkzee
