Beggars can't be choosers

A report claims that the former Benfica starlet and the Rossoneri ‘have a long-term future together in mind’. Joao Felix has been told that Milan directors ‘fully intend on making his move permanent in the summer’.

What's that mean? "Milan directors" had chance to make deal permanent for 40M (loan with obligation) and declined. So, what's the plan? Hope he fails, price got lower, we sign him and then he blooms?

Or Chelsea will see that they can do just fine without him and the player and his agent pushes for Milan move specifically so Chelsea decide to cut losses. The reason it was just a dry loan in the end was because there was not enough time to finish negotiating an option or obligation. At least that's what others reported. We needed more time to haggle.

Others are reporting BS. It's not because of "not enough time" but because we are cheap. Chelsea already cut their losses. They payed him 55M, was ready to let him for 40. We needed more time to convince them to lower it to 38 or 37? F that.
Obliging now to 40M was risk, but in my opinion, risk worth taking. There's no way in hell we are going to get him for that price in the summer, let alone for less, if he turns out good. If he plays well, for what we are all hope, that price is going up. Very likely other clubs to show interest. With more money and better salary.

Sorry, I didn't know you knew all the details from behind the scenes on what's BS and what's not. All I know is that we negotiated for +/- 10 players in or out on deadline day so I would understand if time was a factor when it came down to the last day. I also know that we're kinda cheap that's nothing new, but just because Chelsea overpaid for him, doesn't mean we should (or could). I could also easily say it would be worth the risk, but then again the €40m (or whatever the amount was) is not my money so I really wouldn't care. Feyenoord originally wanted at least €40m for Gimenez. Then he scored 2 vs Bayern and "everybody" thought the price would increase. We ended up getting him for €28.5m + bonuses for a total of €35m. Call it cheap, but it was also smart as long as we got him.

Speak about what I know, speculate about what I do not know. It was not last day negotiation, negotiations was dragged for days before, in dispute between obligation/option at 40M, and than during last day it was "removed from table" because player begged for the deal to happen. There was time. More than enough. As for Gimenez, depends on the source. Some say 32,5M up to 38M with bonuses. There is always some part of fans who thinks one game will increase value, but we both know that's not the case.

We need to buy Joao Felix, someone like him could be the missing piece in our attack, excellent vision and passing.
Sign him and Samuele Ricci and I wont complain. Tonali remains a dream for me but I’m afraid thats very unlikely. They should talk to him to let him run down his contract and take him back for free then. That’s probably the only way we can get him back (02-06-2025, 02:57 PM)Beppe Wrote: We need to buy Joao Felix, someone like him could be the missing piece in our attack, excellent vision and passing.Unlikely because he’s expensive and Italian. The only reason we signed Sottil is because we needed to fill another homegrown player spot in the squad and because he’s not expected to play every game or every other game. This is an international team now. Italians will be back ups/reserves from now on. Gerry doesn’t like his own kind. He probably pronounces his last name Cardinaleee. |
