Tovalieri: Jean-Philippe Mateta will not be joining Milan. In addition to issues related to agents’ commissions, there was indeed also a physical problem. The Frenchman will need knee surgery to fully recover and would be out for 3 to 4 months.

Vlahović’s deal collapsed because his agent demanded €10 million, so we moved on to Mateta.
Mateta also fell through, due to both the medical and his agent’s demands.
The only positive is that we secured Füllkrug before both situations blew up. If we had waited, even this “Plan C” would probably have failed.

Maignan has renewed, De Winter is now one of our three main centre-backs, Cissé has arrived (he benched our former boy Liberali), and Füllkrug strengthens the attack.
At the very least, all four departments of the squad have improved a bit.

Sucks he didn’t work out for us. He would have been useful in giving Alexis a rest or even playing on the left if Bart has to play CB. Oh well at least we got 10 million for him
