When Galliani had a blank checkbook to wave around, things were always easy and rosy. The bad economy may be the main culprit, but lack of ambition of course plays a big role. Galliani keeps talking about no Italian club can spend, while the defending Serie A champion that scum of a team already spent tons of cash on quality players. In my opinion, Berlusconi has lost the passion, and it is not helped as Galliani's incompetence. He is only good at lying and toying with the media, and giving out long and fat contracts to old champions. The craziest act was giving 5-year extension to 30+ aged players like Inzaghi, Gattuso, and Dida. In old Chinese proverb, we have a saying that one should start planning for the bad time even when currently living in a great one. Galliani should know that his way of running the club would not sustain and sooner or later, the owner would get annoyed and lose interest. He has undying passion but lacks such strategic planning, and he is tasting his own medicine now.
A funny way to see it, the problem seems to be not knowing how and when to let go. Galliani should let go of the old champions, and maybe Berlusconi should let go of the club, if he just doesn't want to spend anymore.

Milan and Mexes did agree on 4mil salary but it is 4m net/after tax for Mexes. In order for Mexes to have a net salary of 4mil, Milan needs to pay him 8mil, 4 mil to MExes and 4mil for tax.

This is getting beyond embarrassing. It is mortifying. If I was a new fan, I can tell you that I would not pick Milan as my team to support.

for example: my salary is 1000€. since taxes in bosnia are about 70%, i'm costing my company about 1700€ a month. As opposed to 3000€ a month which would be the case based on your formula.
Bro, for starter, the player does not pay the taxes but their clubs do.
Put it this way, the contract between Mexes and Milan is for 8mil. While Mexes is POCKETING 4mil and the other 4mil is for tax. Thats why we say Mexes is getting paid 4mil while cost Milan 8mil.
idk i just have a feeling this whole saga is fake.. literally it only started because galliani said that anything could happen, but allegri said both ibra and silva are going no where the day after while all this media crap was going, this rumour started a few pages ago with someone saying apparently ibra agreed on a transfer to man city, now its PSG, i wouldn't be so suprised if ibra left but i dont think silva would leave.. it's just too stupid to be real

Taxes aren't calculated from the net. They are calculated from the gross sum which the employer pays. The gross sum is 8 mln, so in the contract it says Mexes gets 4. Milan pays the tax.
In Bosnia taxes are clearly calculated in a different way than Italy and most of Europe (or at least Sweden) and that is why there is some confusion in our calculations. Calculated according to this method you are actually paying 41% tax. The company is cashing out € 1700 but you never get to see the 700 which goes to tax.
I remember this was long discussed when Galliani first started talking about the unfair fiscal rules between Spain and Italy (25% vs 50% for the first 5 years for foreign players)

I dont pay taxes also, my company does. As i said, I am pocketing 1000, while I cost my company 1700 (with 70% taxes).
All I'm trying to say is - taxes are calculated from the nett sum.
If Mexes is pocketing 4m, then either he costs Milan 6m, or the taxes in Italy are 100% (which would mean he costs us 8m).

getting a little confused  what is the "gross sum" then?? nett + what?  how do you calculate it?
Just take it that Mexes cost Milan 8mil b/c thats how much Milan is paying.
