Taking a swipe at Thiago here, because Ibra is technically a mercenary and really couldn't care less.

Thats a bad sign in my opinion, means Paolo knows something we don't know.

Something imminent is about to happen to Silva, I can feel it.

1. Galliani never had a blank cheque, and is considered one of the best negotiator and manager in Italy by most of the Italian experts of football.

2.If Berlusconi lost his passion or not, I don't know. Most probably only him can answer this question.

3. The 5 year extension contract to the 30+ players. Milan from the begining of Berlusconi's era introduced the "moderate wages plus big bonuses when the club targets are reached" system. In that particular year the bonus promised if winning the Champions league was the extension of contract.
You can agree or not with that promise, but the target was reached.

4. Galliani was the first manager in Italy that warned everyone about the spending of the Italian clubs and the loosing of power against other nations.

5. Milan are not Financially sick. They are the No 1 club in Italy which manufacture the most income, and their income is still increasing year after year. The problem is the economy of Italy, and Fininvest and all the companies and business under here umbrella are operating in Italy with all the difficulties in these very difficult times.

6.What makes you so sure that Foreign investors want to invest in Italian clubs???
The Italian clubs are not so attractive for foreign investors. They don't posses property (stadiums) like for example the english clubs.
And who wants to invest in a club who's running on 70 mils on the minus?

1. When I said "blank cheque" I was thinking of Berlusconi's passionate and almost irrational/crazy purchase in the earlier age. Gullit came with the record fee; then in early 90s, we set one new record after another. Berlusconi bought Lentini just to respond to Jubentus' Vialli purchase; we bought Papin simply because he did well against us; that list could go on and one, Savicevic, Simone, even Sacchi.

2. Of course nobody can really tell, but it does seem so.

3. I would not agree on the "moderate wage". When players like Digao and Valerio Fiori earned in seven figure after tax, and makes absolutely no contribution, that's not moderate wage.
Also, I agree that maybe some contract extension was given to reward the CL trophy, but it is not all the case. For example, Dida's contract extension came before it; when everyone thought he was a goner, there came Galliani with a 4M/yr offer.

4. I don't know, maybe he was already looking for excuse already.

5. You sound like Galliani again. Well, I am not denying it. Points 4 and 5 are valid, but that makes his failure even more unexcusable, don't you think?

6. I don't know about that either, but bottom line, if Berlusconi simply has no wish to sell, I don't think the club can be sold. Berlusconi seems determined to take it to the grave with him. It is very frustrating.

I just think selling Silva is excessive. If we can't afford a salary of 7 million euros, then we will find it much more difficult to attract top players in the future. As it now stands, things are bleak.

Hasan, I just heard some rumors that PSG were mainly interested in Silva, and Milan wants to get rid of IBRA and his huge contract, but there was no market for him due to his salary, age and caracter, so Galliani offered Ibra & Silva as a package.
Looks like that is the only way to get rid of Ibra.

Our debt has been 65-70 mln per year consistently, which Berlusconi has been continuously covering from his own checkbook I think. For calculations sake I'll assume our revenue is more or less the same. Okay, so from losing all of our senators we are saving about 15 mln (I'm also accounting for the raise of Silva, and the wages for the new players which I calculated in a previous post). Selling Ibra and Silva will save us 36 mln in wages next year. So only on savings we have 50 mln less costs this coming year. Debt will be of only 15-20 mln therefore. Keep in mind this saving holds for each year (I calculated it this way instead of just saying we've earned/saved 170 mln or whatever it is)

Subtract those 15-20 mln from the transfer fees and we have about 45-50 mln profit this year. Now the options are either to splash them on this market (keep in mind wages must be accounted for) or not spend any cash and use it to cover our deficit for the next 3-4 years. Realistically B&G will spend some of it and save some of it.
