Here's what I know so far:

I know that Milan and Boca Juniors will be placed in the semi-finals, and will play the winners of two matches of clubs from Asia, Africa and I dont know where else. I know the club from Asia is a Korean team.

I also know that this tournament will take place around December 13-22. But what I need to know is the exact dates, or at least the date of the final. Today I got my final exams schedule and I found out I will finish on the 10th of December, and I am planning to go to Tokyo for the ultimate Milan-Boca game :pp20:

If anyone has any info please post it here. Thanks.

Playing Boca Junior first? That's good; if we lose, we can go home earlier lol.

We are not going to play against Boca Juniors in the semifinal. The two teams have been allocated, so they can't play against each other before the final.

The first match for us is the 13th of December. The final will be played on the 16th of December, which is the day that Milan was founded back in 1899.

So hopefully we will celebrate our 108th birthday with another great victory!

FIFA have released the provisional 30-man squad that Milan will take to Japan for the Club World Cup in December.

The Rossoneri are representing Europe in the tournament that has replaced the Intercontinental Cup and will challenge Boca Juniors, Waitakere United, Pachuca, Sepahan, Etoile du Sahel and Urawa Red Diamonds.

Alexandre Pato cannot take part because his contract with Milan is only valid from January due to the fact he was still 17 and therefore underage when he penned the deal in August.

Carlo Ancelotti will bring along Ronaldo as he continues the road to recovery along with Ibrahim Ba and Kaka’s younger brother Digao.

The Club World Cup is played in Japan from December 7 to 16.

Milan squad: Dida, Kalac, Fiori, Offredi; Cafu, Maldini, Kaladze, Nesta, Simic, Jankulovski, Favalli, Bonera, Serginho, Digao, Darmian, Oddo; Emerson, Gattuso, Seedorf, Gourcuff, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Brocchi, Caraglia, Ba; Inzaghi, Gilardino, Kaka`, Aubameyang, Ronaldo.

If you haven't seen this already:

Friday 7 December 2007 - Tokyo - Preliminary Game: Waitakere United (Nzl) - Sepahan (Iran)

Sunday 9 December 2007 - Tokyo - Quarter Finals: Etoile du Sahel (Tun) - Pachuca (Mex)
Monday 10 December 2007 - Toyota City - Quarter Finals: Winner Preliminary Game - Urawa Reds Diamonds (Jpn)

Tuesday 12 December 2007 - Tokyo - Semi-final: Winner Quarter-final of Tokyo - Boca Juniors (Arg)
Wednesday 13 December 2007 - Yokohama - Semifinale: Winner Quarter-final of Toyota - Milan (Ita)

Sunday 16 December 2007 - Yokohama - Final 3'/4' Place
Sunday 16 December 2007 - Yokohama - Final 1'/2' Place

-----

I read that the Urawa team desperately wants to play Milan in the Semis. Rescheduled Coppa Italia game + CL games + the derby + Club World Cup = one exhausting December for the team.

I have every confidence that we will do well in this tournament...but worry about its impact on the remainder of the season.

While I have no problems with us participating, I only hope that on our return to UCL and Serie A matches, that we will be fit, and raring to go....with a settled Pato, and a fit Ronaldo to take the second half of the season by storm.

I believe FSC is showing the tournament for those in the US and those in the Caribbean that have access.

FORZA MIIIIIIIIIIILAN!! Lets get the World Club Cup!!

Our next game is December 13 vs Urawa (most likely) of Yokohama.

Does anyone know what time this game will be? I have a final from 9am to 12pm and then a flight back home to Kuwait at 6:00..is there anyway I can see this game? maybe I just should defer my exam? :P

As we all expected Urawa Red Diamonds beat Sepahan 3-1, so we are going to play against them in the semifinal on thursday.

Offensively they are a good team capable of passing and playing the ball fast. There is a lot of movement between the players and they are good at finding the open spaces between the opponents lines.
Defensively the aren't that good. Today they lined up in a 3-5-2 formation, and they made some serious errors at the back. Their positioning was awful and it looked liked that their mutual communication was non-existent.

Luckily for us they aren't a defensive team, who just sits back and wait for the opponents to play and attack. They like going forward and attacking, so hopefully it's gonna be an exciting game on thursday.

FORZA MILAN! RICONQUISTIAMOLA!

Urawa should be an ideal team for Milan to play against, they will leave space in the final third which is what Kaká thrives on. We should see a comfortable Milan win.

My thoughts exactly. They leave alot of space at the back, so we have to take advantage of that.

I hope that they are stupid enough to try to man mark Kakŕ... I mean we all saw what happened two months ago, when Shakhtar Donetsk tried to do the same at San Siro.

Hi guys hope you still remember me :) I still follow the boards when i have the chance to, and these events gather all the old members, even just for a quick hello and a forza milan!!!

In these days i've had a non expected bless: checking on the sky channels (which include milan channel as well, at least in italy) i've got a surprise: normally i don't get milan channel (which has to be paid separetely)...the cost for the monthly broadcasting is low- 7- 8 euros- but knowing how addictive it can be, i chose not to get that, in order not to compromise my studies :finger:
Well, last night i checked the channel and i saw they gave me a free access to milan channel as promotion.

I've told you this not because i want to rub it in, but because in the last days i've got to see the guys' trainings, and they are damn focused!!! The players are calm but concentrated and they've got a lot of time to do technical trainings, which was something they didn't do for such a long period since a while ( you know, playing every 3 days and with NT matches in the middle ...). Therefore, we have all the credentials and the premises to do well.

And remember, we are Milan. We are born for such stages, in front of the world. As my signature says:

Giovanni
12-12-2007, 15:04
Boca seemed a bit lacklustre today. I expected a bit more from them, esp technicallywise. In fact they don't have great ball possession, compared to Southern American standard. Etoile could have easily equalised, if they weren't a very naive team.

ACMILAN1983
12-12-2007, 16:25
I can't say at this point I care about Boca, we have business to take care of tomorrow against the Japanese side Urawa Reds, who aren't pushovers. Technically we face a good side, quick and a lot of movement, which could disrupt us if we're unprepared. Washington is the main dangerman in the side, but a few players coming from midfield must be watched too.

No doubt I expect a win, I want that final against Boca! We had some business to deal with back in May with Liverpool, now we have some business to deal with Boca after what happened in 2003!

Jeff
13-12-2007, 06:20
I don't even know why you guys are blaming Gilardino. The crosses today are just ridiculous, besides the one that Oddo finally found Gila at the near post who actually did well to manage to hit it to the goal.

Other than that, the first half is pretty much punished by Milan's awful ability to cross. Oddo's twice cross is absolutely horrendous; Jankulovski today seemed to be very alert but not enough; Seedorf could have passed the ball to the wide-open Gilardino but decided to shoot with a carefree manner.

Milan is not taking this game serious enough. There lacks a sense of urgency in their play.

Mystik

HT 0-0. Not a bad first half by any means, Pirlo has been distributing the ball well and had a good free kick saved. Seedorf needs to get into the game more but had that one chance as well. Kaka's been decent but probably needs to try something a little adventurous, maybe a shot from outside the box or one of his magical runs. Gilardino has been subpar but the service to him hasn't been the best either.

Nesta and Kaladze have been doing a good job in central defense (the FSC commentator said ODDO and Kaladze:rolleyes: ) while Janku and Oddo have done well in trying to get forward to support the attack but the quality of crossing has been poor.

_Ace
13-12-2007, 06:21
Milan will perform better in the second half... I believe

Jeff
13-12-2007, 06:22
Oddo needed intensive training in crossing. Enough said. He had two players to be served in the box when he was Lazio; now there was only one.

Oh wait, he actually needed to land the ball in the penalty box in order for anyone to catch it.

I don't even know why you guys are blaming Gilardino. The crosses today are just ridiculous, besides the one that Oddo finally found Gila at the near post who actually did well to manage to hit it to the goal.
I cannot watch a game... im not blaming gila, im just saying i thought Inzaghi is natural choice for everyone. Even if gila scores 3 in this match. Inzaghi brings us silverware hehe.

Sad to hear team plays like you say. But its somehow expected for me. Lets hope for the better 2nd half.

Our midfield is comtroling the game completely, but the problems as the same old: our fullbacks are not good enough for AC Milan, or is Gila. Maybe cafu can do something later on, or Sergio.

Of course, I expect Superpippo....

Yeah, it's a shame that the best cross in the match came from a DM, although to be fear to Ambro he's more of the complete DM, and not technically challenged like Gattuso. Janku didn't get too many chances to cross while Oddo's crossing is just...

What happened with Gattuso and Dida?
After Dida knocked the ball out of bounds near his post in the second half for a Urawa corner, Gattuso felt compelled to yell at him, which was unnecessary. Save that schtick for the locker room instead of airing it in public.

Oddo needed intensive training in crossing. Enough said. He had two players to be served in the box when he was Lazio; now there was only one.

Oh wait, he actually needed to land the ball in the penalty box in order for anyone to catch it.

There were times when he sends good cross xD

Giovanni
14-12-2007, 16:27
Oddo's bad crosses are due to the importance of delivering fast balls, kicking them prime time (without stopping them). The risk to choke the ball is higher but when the cross delivers inside them box at the right place you just need to touch it, and BANG. It's in.

I think on some episodes it was also Gilardino's fault: he must attack the far post sometimes, while he always cut to the closer post instead. Oddo delivered a few good crosses as well, but with just one man inside the box it ain't easy. Anyway i agree he can do better, considering his standards.

It's getting seriously ridiculous how many people on the forum assume that we (fans) know everything and they (management) don't know s***.

All the info we have and rely on is media, then sit here and cry that the situation is desperate. Milan staff are proven professionals, they watch the market and make the best decisions as to their judgment.

They see what needs to be done and will do it, give them time.

Tell that to Emerson and Ricardo Oliveira, and now Ronaldo. Our transfer market has been subpar for the past three years. Vieri, Amoroso, Vogel, Kalac...the list goes on. Only Oddo and Janku have worked out to some degree.

Bottom line, management suffers from short-arm-deep-pocket syndrome. Every summer, they get the fans' hopes up with talk of big names, then settle for free transfers and bargain bin signings.

Meanwhile, we're resting our hopes on a kid who can't even play until next month. There's no guarantee Pato will work out and the amount of pressure being put on his shoulders by fans and media is practically enough to crush a car.

Milan and Boca meet again

The guessing game is over. As expected, AC Milan and Boca Juniors will run out at the International Stadium in Yokohama on Sunday to contest the final of the FIFA Club World Cup Japan 2007.

In a repeat of their 2003 showdown, the big two, the only outfits to have won the Intercontinental (Toyota) Cup three times, will square off to decide the world's champion club. And with the Argentinians having prevailed four years ago, the Rossoneri will not need much motivation.

The game
AC Milan vs. Boca Juniors, Yokohama, Sunday 16 December, 19.30 (local time).

The stakes
Sunday's final represents a perfect opportunity for both sides to atone for inconsistent domestic campaigns. What is more, the Italians are still smarting from their penalty shoot-out defeat to the Xeneizes four years ago, while Boca, who will take to the field with only two survivors from that triumph, are hungry to return to the pinnacle of world club football.

The players
Neither side has any injury worries although Miguel Russo will be without the suspended Fabian Vargas, who was sent off against Etoile du Sahel.

The past
No other clubs in world football can match the three Intercontinental titles won by both Boca Juniors and AC Milan. The question is, which of the two will move into a league of their own in Yokohama?

The birthday
Milan's reserve keeper, Zeljko Kalac, turns 35 on Sunday and victory for the European champions will make his birthday cake taste all the sweeter.

The words
"We are proud to be playing another final in this jersey and to have the chance to bring even more glory to the club. We're up against Boca, and that brings back painful memories of the 2003 final. To lose that game was bitterly disappointing, but now we got a chance to go back and put things right. And when you remember we've got quite a few Brazilians in the side, it should make it an even more special occasion. I'm confident we can do it." Kaka, AC Milan midfielder.

"A lot of people say the Europeans don't really care that much about these competitions, but I can tell you none of the Milan players enjoyed seeing us celebrate in 2003 and going away empty-handed. We have the utmost respect for them because they're a great side, but we've got our strengths and we know what we have to do. I hope we can take the title home again." Sebastian Battaglia, Boca Juniors midfielder.

well, you open that link in your browser and wait quite a while until it starts to buffer, about 2-3 mins, it then works...
With Inzaghi goal Kaka did all the work, crossed to the far post, Inzaghi finished,
anyway it's 1:1 now..

If your saying that neither Maldini & Bonera are as good going forward as the other 2 then it doesn't really matter that boca is forcing them back then. Maldini only needs one good chance whereas Bonera, you might need triple figures.

FORZA MILAN.

Long range shot by Seedorf, straight at keeper who holds it, denying Pippo a tap in. Poor cross by Bonera. Why don't we have Oddo playing?

noT THE best half by Milan; Boca is very strong in keeping the ball and definitely have the chance to beat Milan.

Having said, Milan is not doing bad either; their defense is strong besides the goal; we also have a huge penalty not good; question is: Is Oddo and Janku going to come in in the second half?

AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, can Oddo (or Bonera) cross?

Jeff

because he is young ;). THat's what everyone is crying for.

Boca is playing good with superb technical players in the middle. Our man Benega is good also :)

Carlo is a slawe of Maldini who needs to play the final. Carlo knows Kaladze-Nesta are tuned up in the centre so he plays Maldini on the left. Since Paolko leaves some space as he actually cant play fullback anymore he put Bonera on the right to cover up so Maldini can go more forward...

We dont have two normal fullbacks who can play up and down...

Lets just win this however! Forza Milan!! Come on Pippo!!

P.S.

i remember some time ago when I was watching Milan or SKY and Capello was co-comentator... Bonera also played right back and after some lousy cross from him Capello said in sadness: Ah, Bonera e un difensore centrale... hahaha!

Darragh
16-12-2007, 06:21
Our game is definately suffering because little/no fullback involvement.
Bonera is and never was Milan-standard. Bring on Oddo for Bonera and I would get Gorky ready, because Milan need to win this in normal time. We are not young enough to go 120 minutes and we can't take penalities at all.

Shame we conceded.

Forza Milan.

Maldini looking good out there.

What changes would you guys make?

Blacktop

Maldini's looked good, but playing him the entire 90 would be an act of idiocy, with our insane schedule not slowing down anytime soon.

Ah, Bonera e un difensore centrale... hahaha!

siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

What changes?

No change is needed. MIlan need to keep the ball better instead of losing it;

Milan also needs to be patient because Boca is a technically very strong team;

Oddo in for Bonera at 65 minutes; Janku in at 70 minutes; and then Gilardino in if we are losing.

Maldini will not be subbed off guys, this is like his final wish from Milan. He wants to win this cup, and after all the years he gave us I am certain they will grant him his wish.

I think Pippo should stay on his movement is good. Bonera really shouldnt be used as a RB, especially not an attacking one. Their goal was because of his lack of his concentration and his crosses were poor today. Nesta underlined again how great he is and Gattuso underlined again how he can't pass the ball for more than 5 yards.

From the first half what I see is that we need two attacking full backs, one on the right and one on the left. A striker would also be nice for January and maybe an attacking midfielder. We'll see what January holds for us.

I think Dida has really been very solid and played world class since the Celtic incident. However he has had a few blunders in this tournament. Lets hope he will shape up again, cause when he has his good periods there isn't many better GKs out there.

Jeff we are loosing posession in the middle becouse Ambro-Pirlo-Rino cant spread the game wide as Bonera isnt moving upfront. In our formation fullbacks are crutial and Bonera cant play on the right. But I do agree we shouldnt change anything in the HT. Paolo will stay on and possible transfer to CB with Marek on the laft eventually...
