Some recent news:
Patrick Head is quiting Williams, cuz of BMW will to get rid of him. I donot understand and even comprehend how will Williams look like without Head???
Nando proclaimed that in following GP of Europe he won't speak to Ralf at all. Hot tempered guy - seems to be like Schumi "The Invincable"
Jaguar lost expencive diamond in Monaco Gp. ''Steinmetz“ had borrowed it (unknown reasons for what:confused: may be for comercial aims) to Jaguar F1 Team, however during the crash in the beginning of the race between Sato and Klein IT was lost (140 thousand pounds).
I see Ralf in two sides; firstly as inconsistency man; secondly as 180 degress' different race style compared to Montoya. (effect engines;etc).
Beyond the mess at Monte Carlo, the qualifying which he dropped to 12th place you shouldn't count from here..IMO if it would have been pure qualifying where he put himself at 2nd behind Trulli was really outpacing Montoya who placed the big mouth at 10th.

YEEEEAHHHHHHHHH :D
Forget Monaco;Let's face European GP!
Next Round, European GP at Nurburgring on May 30, 2004.
Rest for week and European GP welcomes once again in 2004 calendar. Renault's Trulli' success for his first career win at Monte Carlo expects he could done well in order to close the gap of driver's table. But Nurburgring is permanent circuit; F2004 still to be considered as the best car plus Schumi certainly highly motivated to pay back his failure to finish in homeland.
Nurburgring had been modernized; its facilities and safety factor get credit plus in particular...
Nurburgring Grand Prix: Starting Grid
01 M. SCHUMACHER / FERRARI
02 T. SATO / BAR HONDA
03 J. TRULLI / RENAULT
04 K. RAIKKONEN / McLAREN MERCEDES
05 J. BUTTON / BAR HONDA
06 F. ALONSO / RENAULT
07 R. BARRICHELLO / FERRARI
08 J. P. MONTOYA / WILLIAMS BMW
09 R. SCHUMACHER / WILLIAMS BMW
10 O. PANIS / TOYOTA
11 C. DA MATTA / TOYOTA
12 C. KLIEN / JAGUAR
13 N. HEIDFELD / JORDAN FORD
14 M. WEBBER / JAGUAR
15 G. PANTANO / JORDAN FORD
16 F. MASSA / SAUBER PETRONAS
17 G. BRUNI / MINARDI COSWORTH
18 Z. BAUMGARTNER / MINARDI COSWORTH
19 D. COULTHARD / McLAREN MERCEDES
20 G. FISICHELLA / SAUBER PETRONAS
Wow, 1st asian driver ever on front row!!!
hope that he will not messed-up like he did in the last race.
great job BAR-Honda, Renault and Kimi.

yeah, well done sato, but who the hell is gonna beat schuey?
he was .6 seconds clear of anybody else and there are no tunnels in nurenberg!!
No need tunnel. This is normal circuit, a permanent as I said before. This circuit is friendly resulted Schumi's victories. ;)
no tunnel but Nurburgring also known as "Monaco without Walls". The racing track was too narrow to do some overtaking.
IMO the 1st corner will be very interesting. Schumi will got Sato beside him on frontrow and we all know what kind of driver Sato is, just look at his crashing record. :D
My wish: no more DNF(s) for McLaren pls............ :(
I wouldn't mind of different's driving style of Sato, but he was quick than Button. Will he take a lead on green light of start?Anyway you should count on Schumi that Scuderia faster as well...;)
McLaren...off the paddock!!:tong: :D
Sorry Argo ... both Mclarens failed to finish again.
Hooray for Button though ... his good season is continuing :)
Montoya proved once again that he is too good for himself!!! Freak can't drive for the life of him!!! Caused the crash and then has the audacity to show the hand!!! Brilliant!!! Gooon!!!
He needs to get his head re-checked!!! Somebody tell him that he is just another pansy in a long list of pansies to come and go from this sport!!! He ain't great .... and he never will be!!!!
:o
For Schumi .... flawless from start to finish! History is being made as we speak. 5 more poles to go now! That is the final frontier! The Last Castle and the Final Battle!

what on earth is going on at mclaren,i mean honest to god, i think my renault clio would get more points this season then both of their cars put toghther, simply because mine would get to the finish!!
fisiichella solid drive to 6th
webber gets 7th
both renaults finish again, but clear they lack striaght line speed
williams, they need to change their drivers,
minardi!!!! utterly useless, 5 seconds a lap slower then schuey

I'm bloody irritated. someone tell mclaren to get their arses up and start having the right car for this sport. f1 won't be the same if they continue not finishing :groan:
Damn!!! as Kimi's car engine blew up, i change the TV channel and watch Kitchee - Milan game, both were live. and Wow.... an Indonesian striker scored 2 goals against Milan. :D some kind like a revenge b/c in 94 Milan defeated Indonesia NT 8-0 in Jakarta.
i have no idea, Jim and CrisRoben. what has Norbert Haug and The Mercedes-Ilmor give to McLaren??? I think those engines are more suitable to drag race than Formula 1. :(
Sally, all we can do is waiting for a new car (or engine). :D
BTW, due to the poor performance of McLaren, a local TV station here gave a quiz that cracked me up. the question was: can Kimi Raikkonen finish the race??
I was a die-hard F1 fan until this season, but now it is just not intertesting anymore. Sure, Ferrari is impressive and deserve its recognishen, but watchen them win over mediocre opponents every week just isn't interesting anymore. :(
Give me a real title contender and I will be back. :)

The cars sucks. It effects both driver couldn't compete as looks their displays don't come up with as usual.
Montoya officially will be driving for McLaren. Contract couldn't be broke down unilateral. Alonso is now hot next target for replacing Schumi when the world champion retires. Could be true or not but this is only matter of time. Trulli is one of option for driving Williams but Frank seems not yet showing his eager of picking him.
Sato's cars is different' set-up from Button's. Each drivers have their 'own set-up' as it which becomes their prefers.

forget about McLaren or Williams? big NOOOO!!! :D
traditionally they are major teams in F1 history and have been survived for years and seasons. i believe they will be back on track again (hope soon).
btw, i've just heard that McLaren will launch their new car MP4-19B on Canadian GP.
and Jacques Villenueve will return to Williams, replacing JPM.

It is actually F1's fascination!B.A.R Honda and Renault are now (seeing their improving research&development) becoming top teams ahead of McLaren and Williams.
OK, now I am stuck in the F1-swamp again :D
Whatever happened to Toyotas ambitious plans?

Their engines is Mercedes. Good they finally decide to launch a new car, but I wouldn't take for granted they make of grabbing instan results in short time period.
The main boring problem for you is just you only see/jugde in one side of perspective in a way. Scuderia succeeds their evolution of their research&development for over the years. Other teams with revolution principle hasn't been showing yet remarkable progress..
For instance, look at what Honda and Renault does...they does well in their R&D..
I never hear when Rossi keeps dominate, people would say MotoGP will become tedious.

Ferrari did it better b/c they have more funds than others. Just look at their budget and compare it to the others. R&D takes more money to invent and devolope new materials and technologies.

Honda and Renault have a great history in F1, surely they know how to make a fast and powerful engine. Honda looked better but the only problem is their engine looks so thirsty. the fuel consumption is higher than other engines on track. :D

There are unexpect problem couldn't be avoided by Toyota. They once told the media that new chassis or engines will come up in next round (could be true or not) to improve their performs; follow B.A. Honda and Renault which shines at present.
I must tell you, particulaly the R&D's budget of McLaren is still ahead of Toyota's (2nd place) and Scuderia in third. The overall investment, Ferrari is still on top.
You could imagine Scuderia only put on third of R&D's bugdet but their cars...well I wouldn't say anymore. You could see their displays from the opening of season 'til today. Oh..I must say Brigdestone could 'payback' and can count on once again...:D
Comparing F1 to MotoGP you judged from 'team order' or else??What is IT?

I mean Rossi won the world title in style. A class of his own.
last few seasons, we saw the best person of both worlds who dominate the championship but MotoGP was just more exciting to watch, not in F1.
Rossi didn't need a team order to secure his place, and his bike was just the same Honda as Biaggi's or Gibernau's. His advantage is that he has a good mechanic, Jeremy Burgess and his crew.
in F1, everything in Ferrari was for Schumi and Rubbens was nothing but a doll. i.e. The Austrian GP at A1 Ring two seasons ago (if i'm not mistaken), that team order was completely unacceptable. Previously, Schumi never won in A1 Ring. :D
and this season Rossi was dare to take the challenge, he moved to a lower-grade team with slower bike. Imagine that Schumi moved to McLaren, Renault or Jordan. What he can do? :D
after all, the only point i want to say is that in last few season, including this season, MotoGP is much more interesting than Formula 1. It's so sad b/c i'm an F1 fan since the 1st time i knew what a motorsport is.
First, comparing F1 to MotoGP is somewhat "awkward" or stiff. F1 technology much more one level ahead of MotoGP.
Second, asking Schumi moves to McLaren, Renault or Jordan is completely doesn't make any sense!!What for turn to change to "problem teams" (I'm not counting Renault..)?I must say you should flashback your memory that Schumi succeeds from bottom, when driving for Benetton which they was a mediocre team. He did it than anyone expected that public'd have counted on to Senna, Alesi, or Mansell to compete for title. The story repeated, when moving to Ferrari. Obviously the management had a reason of recruiting him. Better not jealous of what they has already been achieving for over the years..;)
Third, both driver have class, it's certainly different..

8th Round, Canadian GP at Gilles Villeneuve on June 13, 2004.
This is circuit where Schumi had sweet memory for his F1 professional career. At Gilles Villeneuve, Schumacher who drove for Benetton took podium at 25 years old of age. He was the younger who succeeded to win Canadian GP.
Anyway not only had sweet memory he ever felt but also terrible one which had come up to his head. He was 1 of 3 world champions who had terrible accident and failed to finish the race in '99 (namely Damon Hill on 14th lap, Schumi on 29 and Jacques Villenueve on 34). Welcome to Quebec's wall completely caused the incident.
In 2000 Schumi paidback his last year's failure by grabbing 40th career win and 4 times records of winning Canadian GP. Since the incident, FIA wanted any important changes regarding design standard of circuit; safety factor in particular..
Canadian GP has been become favourite for spectators due to Montreal is suited for taking vacation. The circuit-notoriously tough on brakes-lots of kerbs, traps...plus I recall you this is second fastest circuit after Monza-and still put it in that way in this season.
Unfortunately Jacques will be sitting being spectator..
Billy..please give my best regards to Jacques..:D ;)
yup, a fast track though especially in "Isle of Notre-Dame", an F1 car could reaches 320 km/h. I was so pissed-off when Hockenheim track has changed. Likely we only have 3 fast tracks, Monza, Montreal and Catalunya.
btw last weekend in Mugello MotoGP, Max Biaggi has reached 340 km/h, the highest topspeed ever in MotoGP history but i'm quite sure it will be sharpened again this weekend in Catalunya which has almost 1 km straight track in start/finish line.
hmm.. busy weekend indeed. We'll have F1 and MotoGP races and Euro '04 is starting. damn.. another sleepless nights and now i have to prepare some coffee and cigarettes for it. :D

News just in:
Michael Schumacher will win again!!!!!!!!!!!
hey guys is it true that gerigio pantano will not drive for jordan tomorrow over a pay dispute??
Billy_Montreal
12-06-2004, 23:28
Yes he apparently is having "agent" issues and its not an issue with Jordan..the press is not being very clear on the issue. Very odd.
Jacques is missed in Montreal but to be honest given his demise with BAR he was less and less watched. Montreal is a RED TOWN (red as in Ferrari) above all. Yes Jacques is a crowd favorite because of his upbringing BUT the buzz around went down when his racing did. Unfortunate but I think he made a bad choice with Pollock (his agent) in getting with BAR.
The qualifications were very cool (I have attended the races on and off since I was a kid and it never ceases to amaze me..the noise is just....arousing!!!)
Anyhow Schumi was having problems but apparently the inside word I got from "sources" (!) was that Ferrari had problems with braking system well into Thursday night as it arrived late..or something.

quoted from itv.com/f1
'Timo Glock will make his F1 debut this weekend in place of Giorgio Pantano.
Glock steps into the breach because Pantano was unable to settle a dispute between his father and management team.
That meant a payment due to Jordan was not made and so the Italian was not able to take his seat with the team.
A spokeswoman for Jordan said: "Timo is driving for the rest of the weekend.”
Glock is the team’s test driver and has taken part in all Friday practice sessions so far this season.
Nevertheless, a race drive represents a big step up for the 22-year-old German, who has raced in Formula 3 for the past two years.'
and i reckon jenson button will win his first ever gp today,
anyway forza ferrari!
It canot be - Ralf was robbed.
Only when he got more points than jpm he was mugged. It is unfair.:(
yeah, both Williams and Toyota were disqualified due to the illegal brake cooling ducts. Williams seemed could take it but Toyota want to appeal against it.
So, another 1-2 for Ferrari, great pit-stop strategy though.
poor Ralf, he's done good job this weekend. and also Kimi, he did 5 stops (changing steering wheel twice??? :wallbang: ) and still could reach 5th place (actually 7th:D).
Final Result of "Grand Prix du Canada 2004" (revised):
1. M. Schumacher / Ferrari
2. R. Barrichello / Ferrari
3. J. Button / BAR-Honda
4. G. Fisichella / Sauber-Petronas
5. K. Raikkonen / McLaren-Mercedes
6. D. Coulthard / McLaren-Mercedes
7. T. Glock / Jordan-Ford (Congrats... You scored in your debut! Welcome to F1 stage)
8. N. Heidfeld / Jordan-Ford

That's pretty enough to describe his driving style. Jenson drives smooth while Sato's completely the opposite. It certainly can effect the overall engines performance on track.
I was hoping Ralf outpacing Montoya this season...

the canadian gp could have been tremendously exciting, if the two best cars on the grid hadn't had problems. i.e. the renaults.
trulli is in the best driving form in his life, and alonso would have made things very difficult for schumi if the drive shaft hadn't failed, it would have been a great battle at the end, but i'm not complaigning, 7 wins in 8 forza schumi.
any usa gp next, lets hope for a more exciting race there.

It is pretty simple to answer. Sato is Honda man. He get's the newest engines from the factory to test. They are more powerful but less reliable. So...
Well, it is not bad to see Sato burning :rotfl:
next: Indianapolis GP
anyway i don't really like this circuit. too fast in a sector but also too slow in the other one.
9th Round, USA GP at Indianapolis on June 20, 2004.
Well..Indy. The Brickyard. The oval one. Mystical, and imposing spectators. Here is the place where all racing-type fans located.
The circuit itself not really notoriously on brakes along 4,168 km in length with this banked oval and infield combination. The degradation won't cost you much, the speed actually becomes factor will come up here nonetheless. Traction becomes important thing as well, particularly by the time you get into to oval part of circuit and engines certainly roars along 22 second through the pit. Reliability; you must need it. This oval part where you could have a chance to make overtaking manoeuvre.
Williams seems highly motivated after brake ducts scandal, but B.A.R Honda represented by Button would like to be a driver who presumably drowning sweet weekend race of world champion.
Schumi did it last year..

ralf in a 180mph crash, but thankfully he is not seriously hurt, just concussed and brusied, nothing broken.
4 cars out in corner 1
alonso crashes out
minardi score their first point
ferrari finish with another 1-2
mclarens get both drivers in the points, shock horror
sato a brilliant drive to finish 3rd
trulli starts 19th 11th by lap 1, 2nd at one point, finished 4th
montoya disqualified again for not rejoining the race within 15 seconds after getting into his spare car,(he was 2 seconds out)
so schumacher wins :) barrichello second. he won it by overtaking barrichello after the safety car came into the pits. it was only just legal
also must mention the vicious chop on barrichello to protect his lead.

nice to hear that Ralf is safe and alive...though I felt very uncomfortabile watching his longlasting evacuation :stress:
I've just received the latest Automobile Magazine, June 2004 edition. There i found out something interesting that is related to F1, It's about the Official F1 safety car, Mercedes-Benz SLK350.
here's a design analysis written by Robert Cumberford:
"The original SLK was a slightly dumpy "cute little car" with minimally acceptable performance, whether in terms of power or roadholding.
The new version comes with a much better chassis and lots of power, but the styling is messy and convoluted as it tries to pretend to be an F1 car, especially for the SLK55 AMG version.
Maybe if McLaren-Mercedes F1 cars were winners, we'd like all this lipstick better. Maybe, but we doubt it; it's totally out of character.
No question, size, stance, and proportions are better than before, but the styling is not. It already needs a face-lift."
So, what do you think, guys?
personally i thought that car is awful. It ain't F1 enough but still pretending to be. :D
It's engine should be a 6.0 liters V-12 or bigger. ;)
P.S.
Mercedes-Benz SLK350
Front-engined, rear-wheel-drive roadster, 2-door, 2-passenger, steel body.
Engine: 3.5 liters DOHC V-6
Power: 568 hp @ 6000 rpm
Torque: 258 lb-ft @ 3500 rpm
Transmission: 6-speed manual
Performance:
Acceleration: 0-60 mph in 5.5 sec (what?? even Porsche Carrera 911 GT3 could done it in 4.4 sec! )
Top speed: 155 mph (electronically limited :( )
Whta a ****!!!!:wth: :eekani: heis a sucker nothing else :yuck:
...
easy rae, at least he makes the race much more interesting, doesn't he??
i also heard that Ralf had somekind like an amnesia, he couldn't remember about his own accident. IMO he lost a lil bit of his memory.
poor Ralf, i hope he will get well soon... :)

anyway my review of the race
jarno trulli jumped to 3rd from 5th from the start and gene lost a couple of places and button passed coulthard, were the main changing positions from the start.
schumacher followed alonso for half the race untill 2nd pit stop where he went past, then schumacher went for brave 4 stop strategy and won easily, alonos never got close.
as for the rest barrichello moved up the field, should have finished 4th , but on last corners trulli fell asleep and let him through.
the new mclaren, well its a huge improvement on the last one, let us see how they get on at silverstone.
EDIT:Sato blew his engine again, i think its his driving style, button has no such probs, and its happened to many times to be 'unlucly'. anyway i don't rate him as a driver, fun to watch, but don't like him at all, too amaturish and reckless.
i thought bmw would have made more of a challenge at this race, but only got one point out of this weekend.
that is their total points from last 3 races.
that's right, Lorenzo. Sato blew his engine again after pit-stop. even Martin Brundel was wondering and said "Why is it always his car?" :D
yet again another brilliant (or risky) pit-stop strategy by Ferrari, particularly Jean Todt and Ross Brown. They saw that Magny Cours has a short pit-lane and the chicane before start/finish line will forces drivers to slow down.
thus they gave Schumi softer tyre to get max grip and less fuel to earn faster lap time. and it works, Schumi ran faster than everyone else. one more pit-stop just ain't enough for Alonso to catch-up.
the other Renault, Trulli must be kicking himself for letting Barrichello went trough his inside lane in the last corner. :D
McLaren, better and better. the new MP4-19B looked promising, but can they did a quicker pit-stop? :D at least Ron Dennis was right, he said that "B" letter on MP4-19B means "better". ;)
Displays at Magny-Cours obviously describes how brilliantly of tactician they made to ensure the first spot during the race. Unable catch-up from Alonso to chase Schumi, and brilliantly overtaking manouevre from Rubinho over Trulli were pretty enough to say at least they could something 'unsual than anyone thinks'+Scuderia drivers are indeed the brilliant. No need to argue, but another 4 superb tactical race by team which could win the race certainly become headlines!:)
Brilliant finish by Rubinho...nothing else to say...

11th Round, British GP at Silverstone on July 11, 2004.
One of favoured circuit. 'Friendly' for quality race moments. But I recall you to embarrassing moment last season while a crackpot show up in kilt who ran against traffic at Hanger Straight. Once again, if this kind of madness happens again, Silverstone might be kicked out of calendar.
Wide track combines few racing line and curves here-there provides chance for cars are one a par of running without hitting each other. You need befitted tyre-compound (The tyre degradation is relatively high..). Hard-tyres becomes first opt for most teams but some drivers might try the softer option. Other aspect such as high-speed stability, aerodynamics efficiency, good traction and grip are critical here..
Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello won here last year, can he outshine again all the others?Or will repetitive last year's moment where none of English drivers who couldn't get into top 10?
Here's the grid position for the race tomorrow in Silverstone Circuit:
1 Kimi Raikkonen (FIN) McLaren 1:18.233 (OMG!!! :eekani: )
2 Rubens Barrichello (BRA) Ferrari 1:18.305
3 Jenson Button (GBR) BAR 1:18.580
4 Michael Schumacher (GER) Ferrari 1:18.710
5 Jarno Trulli (ITA) Renault 1:18.715
6 David Coulthard (GBR) McLaren 1:19.148
7 Juan Pablo Montoya (COL) Williams 1:19.378
8 Takuma Sato (JPN) BAR 1:19.688
9 Mark Webber (AUS) Jaguar 1:20.004

18 Gianmaria Bruni (ITA) Minardi 1:23.437
19 Zsolt Baumgartner (HUN) Minardi 1:24.117
20 Giancarlo Fisichella (ITA) Sauber 0:00.00
just like Rex said, Silverstone has been my favourite race track among 4 "Grand Slam" circuits (Spa-Franchorchamp, Monaco, Monza and Silverstone).
Seemed like rain wasn't falling on the race track during qualifying section today, and hopefully tomorrow neither. :D
Kimi was fastest in 3 of 4 practice sections, and setted his pole. Hope that he won't blow his engine like his first pole ever in Hungaroring (previously Mika also did that. McLaren-Mercedes-Hungaroring-Finnish-First Pole :D ).
Alonso actually setted to be 6th on the grid but he got penalised due to the engine replacement, so he dropped 10 positions to 16th.
One fact i noticed, most drivers got their fastest time in intermediate 1 and 2, but Kimi's fastest was in intermediate 3. Sounds interesting.
Good Luck Kimi and McLaren..
Latest News!!!
Panis was penalised for baulking Felipe Massa on his qualifying lap.
He will start the race tomorrow last on the grid.
All positions below 11th will move up 1 step.

Hey guys not been here in a while.
I must say that i've been a huge Michael Schumacher fan for years, as long as i can remember but that guy just continues to blow me away. What a great race he had last week, and a great stragety employed by the Ferrari team. When Schumacher finally gives the others a chance and retires, he might give us different race winners but it'll certainly miss il mastero.
anyone in London (or near) could give a report about the regent street formula one parade? i heard it's a prospect for London GP.
wow it would be great. Race on the city street. another Monaco.

I couldn't go but my friend went there. It was totally packed by people all around and was a huge event so much so that this talk of a LONDON GP is very much a possibilty!!! I have a small video clip of the Ferrari going through Regent street.
The cars revved their engines which was deafening and beautiful. My friend was lucky as he could see the whole thing from his office roof :D Lucky bugger!! :)
Since Silverstone is under serious threat of being removed from the GP calendar London is a possible solution as GB would not like to lose its place from the GP calendar and Silverstone almost missed out for this season.
I wouldn't mind a London GP at all. :)

mclarens seem to be back tho, will be a very interesting race in hockenheim,
Formula One came home! Good race, despite that terrible accident by Trulli. Great to see him doing fine after that crash.
Finally i saw Raikkonen could give a serious threat for Michael, but yet again, Brown made another brilliant pit-stop strategy.
IMO Kimi could attack Michael late in the race, but seemed like he decided to play safe. Maybe he was afraid his new car will blow-up if he pushed it too much, anyway 2nd place was quite good. :D
Can't wait to see Hockenheim GP. Mercedes (and Schumacher) comes home... :)
PS:
It's quite ridiculous IMO if we lost British GP on the calendar. Silverstone is the most complete race track, despite it's poor facilities. and British GP in Silverstone was the 1st F1 GP ever (May 13th 1950).
anyway, London GP would be interesting.
My personal favourite track is MONZA  I feel the need ... the need for speed! .... and the ITALIAN GP at Monza is all about it! :) :rock3:

Paolo, Scuderia' situation in future won't likely be the same like at present after the Legend concludes his record history in F1. He has strong influence by 'controlling' the Scuderia management (other drivers certainly wouldn't give a permit to do so by management), and let it be that way due to his total effort, enthusiasm for winning over and over again...
We might see there will be no Ross Brawn, Paolo Martinelli, Rory Byrne or even Jean Todt.. :(
Schumi considers all Scuderia men as his big unitedly family, the 'power' within makes consistency of winning titles over the years.
My personal favourite track is MONZA  I feel the need ... the need for speed! .... and the ITALIAN GP at Monza is all about it! :) :rock3:
MONZA is a good track for speeding. Previously i prefer Hockenheim for that purpose, but after being revised then it became like a karting circuit. :D
We missed that long track in the woods and also there are many speed traps.
Argo i think Schumacher always had Raikkonen and could go that bit quicker if he needed. I think alot is down to the tyres. The bridgestones seem to come in later but work better.
yup, the weather at Silverstone that day was perfect for Bridgestone tyres. And it would be much better for 'em if it was raining. ;)
Raikkonen with Michelins was quicker when he got good grip to tarmac but slower in the end. Unfortunately, when he went back to the track after 1st pit-stop there were so many back markers and also Sato who held him for more than 2 laps. Schumi also held up by Button in the earlier laps but he could got many laps to increase his lead before he pitted.
Let's enjoy the series remaining. :)
12th Round, German GP at Hockenheim on July 25, 2004.
Hockenheim, this is the circuit which brings you to watch the most drastic and tragic moment creates. One of modern track with configuration changes at safe circuit, but spectacular. The track character notoriously tough on tyres - tyres use selectively, high-speed stability, aerodynamics efficiency and grip are crucial here. The temperature of track could bring you a nightmare, certainly you need pay attention to precise cooling system could works.
Also one of exciting race track, one chance of stiff overtaking manoeuvre inspite of having many chances to do so. In 2003, Juan Pablo Montoya outshone all others from pole until finish line, Can the world champion fix his perform at home race this time where unexpected result he dropped to 7th last year due to tyres problem?
Three pitstops will be more popular this time, with lighter burden and short pitlane.
Hockenheim, this circuit lacks character after it was modified in 2001. The famous long straights through the forest are now gone :( and new parts are taking their place.
Too many hairpins and chicanes will be very-very hard on engines, brakes and (of course) tyres.
This used to be a hi-speed circuit, Jos Verstappen marked his record with 361 km/h :eekani: and now average top speed will be ± 330 km/h.
anyway, let's enjoy the race. :)

raikkonen set the fastest lap, just from schuey, and was challenging him hard for the lead, shame his rear wing fell off, otherwise we could really have had a stunning race between them.mclaren are back, make no mistake.
button had race of his life from 13 to second, passing cars at ease, and had several great fights with alonso, if he started 3rd and not 13th he could have won.
barrichello lost his front wing driving into back of coulthard at start, finshed his race.
willams, poor pizzonia was beaten by webber, much to the delight of everyone at jaguar after pizzonia's comments about them.
trulli, had problems with his car, but seemed totally disinterested and finshed way down, the renaults starts are unbelievable, they clearly have the fastest accelration in formula 1.
fisichella and sauber not so good compared to silvverstone but still finshed top 10.
Good race IMO.
First lap was quite surprising, many drivers in front did bad start. Montoya got unlucky, lost his place at start, then slow down his car to avoid Barrichello's front nose. :D
Raikkonen was the most unlucky driver, :wallbang: made no mistake but his team did. Obviously he was the only driver to challenge Schumi, but in 13th lap his car got rear wing failure. At least he was fine after crashed his car onto the wall. David also did great, he maintained his 4th position to the finish.
The best performance must be Button's. :) He started from 13th on grid and finished 2nd, amazingly he overtook Alonso with only "one hand" :D. His helmet lost its grip, so he must hold it, especially in speeding.
Hockenheim... things will never be the same again...
I was enjoying to watch the race. ;)
Few things I pointed out :
1. Schumi raced calmly, any possibility of car failure in displays it wouldn't be happening. It's tough for him, but the battle between Button and Alonso made him in safe situation in terms of distance. Makes 81th career win. ;)
2. Something's wrong with The Finn's rear wing, technical failure or what?
3. Button as his consistency displays had been this year serious threat for Scuderia. Unbelievably move from 13th to second!:)
4. Webber outpacing Pizzonia to whom the man he will be strong candidate to fill in the abandoned Williams' spot after Ralf officially will be driving for Toyota and JPM for McLaren.
5. Toyota should've made improving season this year or significantly promising to say at least. C'mon do it something good!

The one that couldn't pass the crash-test is MP4-18 and MP4-19, the new version, MP4-19B is the revised one. It's obviously faster and stronger, or at least better. ;)
anyway, that "rear wing failure" was really² ridiculous.. Kimi was about to challenge Schumi but his car JUST won't let him.. :wallbang:
Stupid mistake IMO.
Latest news:
Next season, Giancarlo Fisichella will join Fernando Alonso in Renault. Trulli likely will join with Ralf Schumacher in Toyota.

I also heard that Ralf ain't ready to do come-back at Hungaroring. He would take more time to recover.
button has rejoined williams, as of next year, it will be a great battle between him and webber, lets hope that they have a championship challenging car under them, and not the walrus they have now.
It becomes controversy between Williams and B.A.R. David Richards has responded with a statement that English racer is still under contract for 2005 and finger crossed Williams yesterday's announcemet has not only been premature but also invalid.
On the other hand, Williams has publicly insisted that Jenson belongs to team even B.A.R's claims that Jenson is still contracted to them.
is that true that Mika Hakkinen is coming back to Formula-1, and to join BAR next season?
It's more likely a humour about returning Mika in F1. You need time to regain yourself to come out on top again.
B.A.R has Anthony Davidson, mind you..he shone at few free practice this season. He could be appointed to fill in one of an abandoned place at team.
Hungaroring, obviously is the slowest track after Monaco, more to a karting circuit instead of an F1 circuit. Tracks are 8 - 12 meters wide, ain't sufficient to do overtakings, particularly in hi speeds.
It's been one of the most boring tracks in F1 history, but I still hope for a good race here. ;)

Look at this rumour!!!
it shocked me a bit.
Ferrari:via Rubinho, ecco Coulthard

yes it does but he always said if he was enjoying racing and if he was still winning races he would continue.
I think Schumi wouldn't stay too long, maybe just to finish his contract.
He will quit F1 as the champion, while he's on top. ;)
I've heard that he's a good footballer, isn't he? maybe he'll try to coach a football team after retire from the single-seater competition. :D
You can't read Schumi's mind either what will 'real' decision be to end his career. His contract says so, but I recall you Nigel Mansell ended his career at 39, Schumi could keep continuing his enjoyable moments at his age and move on as I said before.."he looks fine wine"..
It could be, but I don't think Schumi would want to drive another car but Ferrari.
IMO He will stay in F1 only with Ferrari.
about Mansell, he was quite late when he started his F1 career, that's why he ended his career also lately. :D
The most important thing in F1 is the competition itself. Formula 1 is dying now and FIA keep changing the regulations to survive the show, but slightly it just ain't enough.
IMO the rule about engine capacity, from 3.0 litres to 2.4 litres is very ridiculous.
and tires usage, "one tire for one race" is dangerous (considering that tire is the only device that has contacts to the track). We all know that many accidents in F1 caused by "grips", and tire is the main device to earn it (instead of aerodynamics).
It's not about dying issue. It's about safety factor had become first mind to modify the regulations. Even FIA keep changing the regulations they want, F!-technology always been step ahead than anyone expected. And human always have the ways to make it happen.
14th Round, Belgian GP at Spa-Francorchamps on August 29, 2004
Absent last year, Spa is now back on calendar this season. Predicated as the best circuit chosen by either engineers or drivers, the longest lap of the year and being favoured by top drivers. Even it had been a change particularly to the circuit at the last 'Bus Stop' corner will slow the cars down slightly, yet none of circuit gets high plus assessment but Spa. Eau Rouge and Blanchimont certainly will give enjoyable move and exciting about to watch to. And Spa is supreme challenge more than anything.
Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen and Michael Schumacher performed well in there; Senna won 5 times, Schumacher this year could likely creating 7th win wonder. His first career win created at Spa when driving Jordan in 1991 and continued again at following year took first podium when defending Benetton.
This track technically needs aerodynamics efficiency, high-speed stability, traction, decent balance and good turn-in are factors that you can't leave behind. You can show your capability of making overtaking manoeuvre here, as I wish to tell you, accident rate at Spa is terribly high. Plus you also have to take into account the notoriously fickle wheather conditions, which can completely upselt all of your careful calculations.
It would be a singularly appropriate location if, he would be creating 13th season win and being the highest of world champion's record holder if he clinches his 7th world wonder this weekend.
The closest rival is his team-mate Rubens only could aftering his standing table but not pretty enough to fail everything insight of ahead.
Who can stop Schumi this time?
Spa Franchorchamps is one of four "Grand-Slam" circuits in F1 history. Most drivers put this track into their favourites. and as Rex had said, this track has been a historycal place for Schumi.
The qualifying session was interupted by rains. That's why we got an unusual starting grid. :D

and quite surprising, We didn't hear Italian's national anthem for the 1st time this season. :D
I think we're back to 1997 when Hakkinen won The Japanese GP while Jacques Villeneuve secured his World Champion Title. It means Raikkonen will win world champion title for the next two successive years. :D
....welllllll.....what should I add from myself...nothing special cuz it is nothing to say about this season except Forza Schumi... :rock3: 7th WCh title is not enough. Go on, make us happy once more :proud:

i'm afraid it didn't really ruin our party, argo, i honestly couldn't have cared less where he finished as long as it was 2 pts clear of rubino
anyway, excuse me while i go all childish for a second: :rock3: :rock3: we won we won we won we won!!whoo-hoo   :proud: :proud: :drunk: :drunk:
anyway, i look forward to next year where hopefully there will be a proper challenge from mclaren, and hopefully renault and bmw. i also would like to see the progress of bar, will they do a jordan? rember they were 3rd best team in 99 and look where they are now! forza schumacher forza ferrari
5 driver titles in a row
6 constructors title in a row
both records :proud: :proud: :proud: :proud: :proud:
Congrats to Michael and Ferrari
But what are we going to do for the rest of the season?
Congrats to Michael and Ferrari
But what are we going to do for the rest of the season?
don't be too confused, Henrik.. Serie A is about to begin. soon U'll forget F1 championships, at least for the rest of this season. :D
P.S.
Lorenzo, may I get some drinks, pls.... Italian team, German+Brazilian drivers and French wine. :)
Congrats for Kimi, but should've become homework for McLaren for fixing their unreability and inconsistency though at following rounds. Schumi extends the records and way still move on as he looks after to hoping to win at Monza. Victory laps at Monza will be special way as it comes essentially to 'attest' his 7th world wonder in front of Scuderia fans.
Congrats Scuderia, Congrats Schumi, Congrats Rubens!! :proud:
Toast for everything! :)
This weekend we're gonna witness another interesting race from another "Grand Slam" circuit, MONZA.
Length: 5.793 km
Laps: 53 (306.720 kms)
2003 Results
Pole: M. Schumacher - 1'20''963
Best lap: M. Schumacher - 1'21''832
Podium:
1 M. Schumacher
2 Montoya
3 Barrichello
Monza is a fast track with some chicanes and parabolic corner, but most sections are quite narrow..
anyway, here's the starting grid:
1. Rubens Barrichello / Brazil / Ferrari / 1min 20.089secs
2. Juan Pablo Montoya / Colombia / Williams-BMW / +0.531secs
3. Michael Schumacher / Germany / Ferrari / +0.548secs
4. Fernando Alonso / Spain / Renault / +0.556secs
5. Takuma Sato / Japan / BAR-Honda / +0.626secs
6. Jenson Button / Great Britain / BAR-Honda / +0.697secs
7. Kimi Raikkonen / Finland / McLaren-Mercedes / +0.788secs
8. Antonio Pizzonia / Brazil / Williams-BMW / +0.799secs
9. Jarno Trulli / Italy / Renault / +0.938secs
10. David Coulthard / Great Britain / McLaren-Mercedes / +0.960secs
11. Ricardo Zonta / Brazil / Toyota / +1.431secs
12. Mark Webber / Australia / Jaguar-Cosworth / +1.513secs
13. Olivier Panis / France / Toyota / +1.752secs
14. Christian Klien / Austria / Jaguar-Cosworth / +1.900secs
15. Giancarlo Fisichella / Italy / Sauber-Petronas / +2.150secs
16. Felipe Massa / Brazil / Sauber-Petronas / +2.198secs
17. Giorgio Pantano / Italy / Jordan-Ford / +3.150secs
18. Gianmaria Bruni / Italy / Minardi-Cosworth / +4.851secs
19. Zsolt Baumgartner / Hungary / Minardi-Cosworth
20. Nick Heidfeld / Germany / Jordan-Ford
The track also notoriously tough on brakes and tyres. High stability, aerodynamics efficiency, decent balance and good turn in are crucial here. Plus you must notice on kerbs that unconsciously caused the problem. Generally it will take two stops.
If Scuderia wins, the party goes on. ;)
You're right, rex... fast track such as Monza demands a supreme performance from brakes and tires. Last race in Spa showed us how terrible Michelin was.. fortunately Kimi survived.. u know, usually he is the first to be unlucky. :D
The 1st chicane (after start/finish line) would be very crucial, especially in the early laps when the cars are still close one to another. Drivers could do overtaking there but the curbs may give some trouble to the tires.
Generally I'm expecting some "hi-speed" overtakings, parabolic corners before the start/finish line and long section in intermediate 2 would be the place. ;)
According to the weather forecast, It's gonna be raining today in Monza. :depress:
I hope not. :D
What a start there??!!!
Schumi was spinning in the chicane and let ALL drivers went through..
Seems like Monza track is quite slippery.
end of lap 2
Barrichello
Alonso
Montoya
Button
Raikkonen
Massa
DAMN!!! :wallbang: :depress:
Raikkonen yet again has retired due to engine failure.. :frustrat:
Why he always be the 1st to be unlucky????
meanwhile Button leads the race, behind him is Alonso, then Montoya, Barrichello, Sato, and Coulthard.
halfway to go!
Seems like the party is NOT gonna happen here. Sorry to all Scuderia fans... ;)
27 laps to go (of 53)
DC did his 1st pitstop. maybe It will be his only stop. He started from pitlane.
Interesting battle in front there...
Button
Alonso
Montoya
Barrichello
1. Rubens Barrichello / Brazil / Ferrari - 53 laps 1hr 15min 18.448secs
2. Michael Schumacher / Germany / Ferrari +01.300secs
3. Jenson Button / Great Britain / BAR-Honda +10.100secs
4. Takuma Sato / Japan / BAR-Honda +15.300secs
5. Juan Pablo Montoya / Colombia / Williams-BMW +32.300secs
6. David Coulthard / Great Britain / McLaren-Mercedes +33.400secs
7. Antonio Pizzonia / Brazil / Williams-BMW +33.700secs
8. Giancarlo Fisichella / Italy / Sauber-Petronas +35.400secs
9. Mark Webber / Australia / Jaguar-Cosworth +56.700secs
10. Jarno Trulli / Italy / Renault +66.300secs

Rtd Gianmaria Bruni / Italy / Minardi-Cosworth 29 laps completed
Rtd Kimi Raikkonen / Finland / McLaren-Mercedes 13 laps completed
Rtd Olivier Panis / France / Toyota 0 laps completed
Well.. the best team win. Congrats to all Scuderia fans.
Have a nice party...
Absolutely stunning preformance by Ferrari. Pity that Nando had to finish his race like that...:(
I sometimes wonder if it would be better to let Ferrari start the race when others are 1 min. already driving....:D

Why don't they make their own championship? ;)
Yesterday in Monza many teams were struggling for grip. Everytime they had a pit-stop, the mechanic always adjust the front wing to gain more and more grip.
It's obvious that Ferrari is the best team there... They did more tests than the other teams.
about Alonso, sometimes I thought that's the difference between him and Raikkonen. Both are young, quick and excellent. but Alonso has stronger car and Raikkonen has a "cooler" temper. :D
sorry.. double post.
damn.. I hate this ISP. :pchate:
Nando is younger;) And he is able to be a new member of Ferrari, while Kimi is already McL driver...
actually Jean Todt has revealed recently that he wanted Raikkonen to be the next Schumacher in Ferrari..
but he also realised that it would be very difficult because Ron Dennis will be absolutely disagree on that. ;)
Flavio has not told such thing yet...so ....:D
And one more thing - Schumi entered Ferrari from Bennetton-Renault...so can do Nando:D
!Fuerza Nando!
personally I want to see Alonso to join Ferrari because I want Raikkonen to stay at McLaren. ;)
maybe next season McLaren with Raikkonen and Montoya could repeat what they have done in 1988 season. with Senna and Prost they won 15 of 16 series. :eekani:

i've missed the last few races cos of my new job :(((((
but i get to see the highlights and can only say, we rock!!!!
after a strange race in belgium where we seemed off the pace we dstroyed the rest of the field!(look at the lap times in the 3rd quarter of the race!).
in my mind it seems that ferrari's biggest advantagde is in the super fast tracks usa, germany and monza, but on the slow tracks like hungary and belgium mclaren and bar are able to keep in touch.
i'll be able to watch the china gp cos of the time dirreence and i can't wait to see the circuit, should be a great atmoshpere and lets hope for a3rd succesive great race
frorza ferrari!
Few things I pointed out about the race at Monza :
1. Button, JPM, Alonso were struggling to maintain the spot, even Rubens were taking the leads, the situation wasn't safe for releasing from traffic behind. Rubens did the early first stop to change intermediate compound.
2. Schumi stayed calm when got spin and dropped to 15th place. Soon and slowly but sure, the engine 053 of Ferrari says it all. Powerful and Quick. A characteristic of Real Wolrd Champion from his stunning display. Button could do nothing when Schumi's overtaking over him.
3. McLaren back to old unsolved 'disease'. Nothing can make any changes further but preparing the team for 2005. Will the problem get solved?
4. Alonso made hard breaking, uncontrol himself to safe the spot. Made mistake of himself. Lost his place and retired from race.
5. Rubens deserves to win. He did the great job and made 3 stops reminds others to whose 4 stops of 'similar' situation over Schumi by the time he did it at Magny Cours. I would say superb brilliant tactical from Ross Brawn's calculation of the race. :rock3:
6. Home sweet home to win at Monza.
maybe next season McLaren with Raikkonen and Montoya could repeat what they have done in 1988 season. with Senna and Prost they won 15 of 16 series. :eekani:
man, do u really think this way???? :d55:  :dontkn:

i think that season is unique, ferrari imo won't be ever be able to do it, even tho we got incredibly close this year.
keep dreaming!!
i think that season is unique, ferrari imo won't be ever be able to do it, even tho we got incredibly close this year.
I think Ferrari could have done so, only if they let Schumacher and Barrichello competing in a healthy and fairly way. ;)
What if Ferrari sign Montoya or Raikkonen, then give him the same priority as they gave to Schumi? They would win the whole series. :eekani:
don't worry, rae.. I know what I'm doing.. and I hope I know what's gonna happen. :D
If Ferrari signs Montoya or Raikkonen, either both of them will be appointed as second driver. Schumi's first priority at team is indispensable.
I think the arrival of Montoya would haven't yet given significantly changes to McLaren's right track in and out. It takes time. Still many fixing should've done further if we sees the circumstances to what they've been trough this season. And it's not easy way to do it. Factors of Montoya's assessment or whatever to car's development would help much at following developing stages. Plus you must remember, latest car's development (this season) becomes criteria to develop the new one. Just imagine on it. The key is the evolution or revolution. That's all.
I know that, Rex.. McLaren's problem recently is "the car", not the driver, no matter how good is the driver it would be useless without a reliable car.
tomorrow I don't know yet, what part of MP4-19B will be broken. So far we already got engine failure, hydrolics, etc..etc.. and even "wing failure". :haha: personally I never thought it would happen in a hi-stage like F1. sometimes I wonder what is McLaren's car made from...
whatsoever I'm still their supporter. ;)
Forza Kimi!! Hope they'll give you a better car.
Absolutely stunning preformance by Ferrari. Pity that Nando had to finish his race like that...:(
I sometimes wonder if it would be better to let Ferrari start the race when others are 1 min. already driving....:D
Alonso needs to realise that in order for the stewards to push start his car after he had spun off at Monza, he had to be driving in a red car. :delol:
maybe next season McLaren with Raikkonen and Montoya could repeat what they have done in 1988 season. with Senna and Prost they won 15 of 16 series. :eekani:
Honestly, I wanna see that too!!! :devf:
Realistically, I don't think that will happen. What McLaren had achieved in 1988 will never be repeated in the history of F1 again, not even by the now dominant Ferrari. McLaren were simply dominant that year!!! Winning 15 out of 16 (with 10 1-2 finishes). It could have been a perfect 16 out of 16 cause Senna was leading the race at Monza (Prost had retired due to mechanical failure), then tripped while lapping a back-marker (Jean-Louis Schlesser's Williams) at the 1st chicane with only TWO laps remaining... DAMN!!! I'm still pi$$ed after all these years.... but it proved that Senna was human afterall. :grinser:
What separates that McLaren team to the current Ferrari team was that the drivers (Senna & Prost) were allowed to race against each other. Of the 15 wins, Senna took 8 and Prost 7. McLaren finished the season with 199 points, which will translate to 238 based on today's 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 point scoring.
Raikkonen & Montoya could potentially revive the McLaren Prost-Senna rivalry back in the late 80s, provided they are given the licence to race against each other. And I hope McLaren can produce a competitive car for 2005.
Despite a dominant 2004 for Ferrari, everyone knows who's the master and who's the slave between Schumi and Rubinho. And need I mention Austria 2002? :yuck: :d55:
mind him. ilgenio.. he's just too young and hasn't yet experience many things in Formula 1. :D
btw, next season Jaques Villeneuve will return to F1 with Sauber-Petronas... He already signed a 2-year contract starting 2005.
WooHoo... glad to see that French-Canadian is coming back. We'll have 2 world champions on track again (or 3 if Hakkinen also returns).
and what a pitty, Renault has sacked Trulli for the rest of this season. It means he will not race for the remaining 3 series (China, Japan and Brasil). I heard that Villenueve will replace him for those 3 series. He will do some test at Silvestone tomorrow.
Honestly, I wanna see that too!!! :devf:

and I missed you too, Haroon..
I thought you already forget Formula One and this thread. ;)
Glad to see you back here..
to Rex, Rubens' performance was, is and will be like that because he has 2nd grade car. :D
if Schumi was still chasing for more points, then I'm quite sure the last race in Monza will be just like A1-Ring 2002.

nah ... how could I forget this thread? I just pulled back a bit so that other Non-Schumi fans like my buddy ilgenio would start posting a bit! :D It is tough times for that lot but I could care less! :de3:  :p283:
P.S I love the new smilies. Mc Laren is -> :1old: :D
Haha.. :rotfl:
I don't think that Ron Dennis is that Old, neither Norbert Haug is..
It's Moinsuer Ojjeh I guess.. or Sir Frank Williams ;)
to Rex, Rubens' performance was, is and will be like that because he has 2nd grade car. :D

None of 2nd grade car, car of both Ferrari is same, the difference is set-up on how it supposed to whom would want to be.
Titles already on hand, points safely be collected, Schumi may could overtake Rubens but he keeped push the throttle and won the GP.
It's shame on you as McLaren fan who always keep up the story of Austria '02, is that all you can do???!!Well I recall you that DC once bestowed his 'victory' to whose Mika's interest at Jerez '97 and Melbourne '98. And that's one of bitter moments as long as his career at McLaren, and F1 sport as well.
I could keep it up all times, but it makes me ridiculous to do so, over and over again.
that was quite different, rex.
Jerez 1997 both McLaren's drivers were out of the world title competiton. It was about Villeneuve vs Schumi. The race was marred by Schumacher's cynical attempt to barge Villeneuve out of the race when he saw the French-Canadian try to pass him.
However his ploy backfired succeeding in damaging only his own car and leaving Villeneuve to take a steady 3rd place along with the Championship.
Schumacher was subsequently disqualified from his 2nd place in the Championship.
Melbourne 1998 Coulthard slowed to let Hakkinen past as a result of a pre-race agreement (the one who reach the first corner first must be given priority to win). I'm quite sure that it was nothing to do with such thing as team-order because it was the first race of the season. They both just wanted to have some fun. ;)
anyway you made a good point on that, it would make us seemed ridiculous.
Let's wait for the next race, Villeneuve will likely drive the Renault to replace Trulli. Quite interesting to see him re-unite with Renault.
.....They both just wanted to have some fun. ;)
Had some fun at race track masqueraded the 'real situation' was likely undebatable. First points at first round is important matter, well enlighten me..I'm sure Ron thought very deeply the policy (the possible consequences) he made by the time race took place.
May Villenueve fulfill the Reanult's hopes. Aiming 2nd constructors becomes an ambitious target. Forget not, B.A.R certainly keep maintaining the spot.
Haroon, how are you? ;)

schumacher faced the chinese journalsts today and they came up with a couple of classic questions, i wish schumi hadn't been in his ambassadorial role, i would have loved to seen his proper reactions....
chinese journalist(q):why are u always dressed in red during gp's? is it your lucky colour?
ms(a):its my team's colour, and tehy have been red forever
(q):can u win the championship here in china?
(a)unforuntaley not i won it a couple of races ago in belgium :howler: :haha:

what do ye guys think will happen now that Jaguar have pulled out. One less team and Jordan are engineless!!!!!!

(q):can u win the championship here in china?
(a)unforuntaley not i won it a couple of races ago in belgium :howler: :haha:
probably he is a kung-fu journalist, not a sport journalist. :D
or could be that question was already prepared long time ago and the journalist didn't know that the Championship itself has so many things in progress. :haha:
Schumi should tell the journalist: "Where have you been?? The Championship has gone too soon..." :D
btw, Chinese GP at Shanghai will be very interesting because the track is a brand new one, thus all contenders have not sufficient data about the circuit.
Designed by a German architect, Hermann Tilke, Shanghai (5.451 km long - 56 laps) has a good combination contains corners (even a hairpin! :eekani: ) and straight lines (the longest one is more than 1 km). It would demand an aerodynamic setting for high and low speed at once.
that's a bad bad news, Paolobalde, next season Formula One would be quite different because Jaguar will be out of the championship. Ford, the main principal has announced that they are running out of fund to compete in Formula One Championships.
and likely it will also impact to the other member of Ford Corp., Cosworth who currently supply engines for Minardi and Jordan.
is there any "Roman Abramovich" in F1?? ;)
If F1 ever lose those 3 teams then each team remaining (especially major teams) shall run 3 cars because due to the regulation, in each race the starting grid must be filled with 20 runners at least.
Latest news: Jordan has sacked Giorgio Pantano and repalce him with their 3rd driver Timo Glock for the rest of this season.
Shanghai venue's design has been beaten the old fashioned European race tracks over decades. :D I'm impressed!!I simply couldn't take my eyes off it. Gotta enjoy the sunday race. ;)
Timo Glock, you'd once been performed well..it's time for showing capability at nearly end of season. I praise on you. :)
Schumi, well the most well adapted driver on new venue must go on within underlined the records. Should shut the mouth's crackpot journalist up by paying your perform on race track. :D ;)

I wasn't surprised of Barrichello's lap time. Obviously he is very good in twisty tracks such as Shanghai, Silverstone and A1-Ring.
but I'm impressed by Sauber's drivers, both are in 4th and 7th position. :eekani:
This is gonna be an interesting race.

what a great great great race, i think schumacher completed a different hat trick today, started last, had every conveivable problem, and still set the fastest lap of the race!
barrichello and sato drove excellent races, as did raikkonen and button in all fairness.
as for villeneuve imo he needs more time behind the wheel but it was good to see him fight schumi again, *memories*
ralf was back too and was doing well until coulthard wiped him out, it was mildy amusing to see ralf park his bmw in the mclaren garage as his team clearly weren't ready for him.
anyway
i needed that i've missed my f1, roll on japan in 2 weeks time another gp i can watch whoo-hoo!
David Coulthard has proved once more that he is a complete fool, but not a driver...
He hates Schumacher bros and wants to hurt them every time it is possible. He has to be punished eventually.
Great race by Rubinho :D

Good race!!! as always, Barrichello performed great in a twisty track. ;) congrats anyway.
Button had a good race. His car was obviously fast, and a good pit-stop strategy to take the 2nd place in front of Raikkonen. His teammate Sato also performed good. He did a quick start and finally reach the 6th place.
also congrats to both Sauber drivers. They all got points. ;)
I was disappointed seeing DC and Schumi were having a bad bad race. DC in the earlier lap almost crash his car onto Sauber's, and finally Ralf was his next victim. :D
Schumi, as the commentator said (Martin Brundell I guess...), drives like he is NOT a 7-times world champion. :D
btw, wonderful track, isn't it?
Apparently in the season 2005 Silverstone will NOT hold an F1 Grand Prix..
in the schedule plan, Silverstone is temporary removed because there's no agreement yet between Bernie Ecclestone (F1's Boss) and Sir Jackie Stewart (President of BRDC). :(
The schedule will be officialised by FIA by Oct 13th.
I guess it is the same story as it was last year with San Paulo...
Although it would be terrible loss for all f1 fans not to watch race in Silverstone circuit...
For more than 50 years it was hold and now...quit....schluess...

Turkey looks like will be on calendar next season, or is it new venue to replace Silverstone? No idea about it. Just ask FOM President, Bernie Ecclestone. The reason of all behind this could be unagreement price should've being paid by BRDC to FOM.
I guess it would be 17 series instead of the planned 18.
Silverstone still could be submitted into 2005 calendar before Oct 13th and all teams were agreed for that 1 serie addition.
BRDC couldn't afford the price because Silverstone is managed by private club, not a profit-oriented club. and British government has ruled out further cash help for Silverstone to keep the British GP on the calendar next year. They said that they have done lotsa things for Silverstone already.
Well.. it will be a GREAT loss.. :depress: but I hope BRDC will improve its facilities and get more funds to hold the British GP in the future...
btw, next race in Suzuka will be interesting. Trulli will race! earlier than his proper contract with Toyota. and rivality between B.A.R. and renault for2nd place in constructors standing is heating now..

yeah, the government dont want to give Bernie Ecclestone any more money, he is already a multi-billionaire
I think this will be sorted out, the press really want him to reinstate Silverstone and are pressuring him quite a lot. Bernie has been quoted as saying he wanted Silverstone included too.
I've heard that Bernie just made a new bid for BRDC. :)

Latest news:
taken from http://f1.racing-live.com/
A consortium, including former world champion Nigel Mansell, claimed Saturday that they have saved the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. Kim Cockburn, a motor-racing entrepreneur who is leading Brand Synergy Ltd, which boasts Mansell on its board of directors, said she has reached a deal with Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone to keep the race at Silverstone.
She told BBC Radio 5 Live: "We've saved the British Grand Prix and we're keeping it at Silverstone."
The news comes despite the fact that she has yet to reach an agreement with the owners of the Northamptonshire circuit, the British Racing Drivers Club.
The BRDC played down similar claims from Cockburn earlier in the week as they had not seen evidence of Brand Synergy's funding.
However, Cockburn said: "We've been in discussions with the BRDC for a couple of months and we've also been in discussions with Bernie Ecclestone. Bernie was happy with us to sign a seven-year deal. However the BRDC, have decided they need more time to consider our proposal. We feel the way forward is for Bernie Ecclestone to keep the promotional rights and to promote the race at Silverstone until the BRDC can reach an agreement."
Ecclestone said the British GP had been omitted from the provisional 2005 schedule after the BRDC failed to offer a large enough fee to host the race. But Formula One team bosses have said they are confident there will be a British GP at Silverstone next year.
This is a bit unusual to have a qualifying session in a same day with the main race. :D but the thypoon had forced us to do so...
in the few hours the race will be started. I hope the weather will be just nice. ;)

a fairly normal race tho it was a bit boring. :D
Michael Schumacher led the race from start-to-finish and grab his 13th victory this season. No driver seemed to touch him because most of 'em have been hold up by the others.
In the early laps Button (who uses 2 pit-stop strategy and carrying more fuel) did a massive start but later held up Sato for several laps. While Villeneuve held up his teammate Alonso, Raikkonen and Montoya. Those drivers loss time quite significantly as Schummi comfortably led his brother Ralf.
Both Schumachers did a great race and finished 1-2. and both B.A.R. drivers also did a great job as Button and Sato finished 3-4 respectively. Apparently they will beat Renault in the conctructors final standing after Alonso could finished 'only' in 5th place.
Raikkonen, not quite spectacular but helped by a good pit-stop strategy to grab 6th place. Unfortunately his teammate, DC, collided with Barrichello. Then both drivers must retired with a similar problem, front wheel damage.
Here's the race result:
1. Michael Schumacher / Germany / Ferrari
2. Ralf Schumacher / Germany / Williams-BMW
3. Jenson Button / Great Britain / BAR-Honda
4. Takuma Sato / Japan / BAR-Honda

:w209: no it wasnt, but the effing japanes director kept showing sato instead of the many battles that were going on. we could have had a grandstand finish if barrichello hadn't crashed into coulthard as he could have challenged the bar's. (of course the japanese director missed that incident also)
schumi; bravo!

Just save your money. Suzuka was just fine. ;)
Even if the track was wet, I still counted on Bridgestone has been top form level.. :)
Another display of duo Schumachers takes the podium I've wanted to see. The 'untouchable' of B.A.R keeps maintaining the ambitious of 2nd could likely hard to be caught from other close competitiors..
Those race are usually called - beating the children :dcool: :sob: Schumi gave no chance to hesitate if he is not the best diriver and Ferrari is not the best team in the world at the moment...:proud:
And for following centuries... :hopefull:
I was fascinated seeing bros on podium again... the last meeting there was lead by scandal and Ralf was diqualificated...:depress:
These races also showed that Ralf is a better driver than JPM... the both belong to the same team they both have identical cars they both leave the team next year but Ralf was second and JPM was... [I forgot :sob: ]
Button and Sato showed that Renault [Nando] has no chance to overtake BAR in constructor cup this year...:(
Nando has shown that he belongs to the elite of f1 pilots... [comparing him to Villeneuve, though a year break also make some impact] and has to be taken by Ferrari as soon as possible.
DC ahve made another huge mistake and has convicted himself as a f1 driver. :nunu:
!Forza Schumi!
!Forza Ferrari!

yeah the display on TV was filled by Sato's. but IMO it's quite natural, Lorenzo.. as a local hero he was spotted more than other drivers. probably in the next race at Interlagos we'll see Barrichello more often. :D
The race itself was fairly normal. there was no controversial momment such as fatal accidents, safety car deployments, extreme weather changings etc. except that crash between DC and Rubens. dammit they didn't show the replay.
lately both DC and Rubens said that it was a normal collision and not really matters.
normal collision!? and after that both pilots are out?!....hahahaha

CRB rule in favour of BAR
Wednesday October 20 2004
Jenson Button's proposed move to Williams has been turned down by F1's independent Contract Recognition Board, who on Wednesday ruled that he must either race for BAR in 2005 or not race at all.
The Board was called upon to decide Button's fate after BAR and Williams failed to reach an agreement regarding the Brit. Both teams were claiming they had legally binding contracts with him for 2005, however, given the choice Button made it clear that his preference was Williams.
Following his September hearing with the Board, the 24-year-old faced an anxious wait over his future. That wait was further extended when the Board postponed announcing their verdict from Saturday to Wednesday. But the wait has finally came to an end.
At a hearing in Milan, the Board ruled that only BAR held a valid contract for Button's services next season and that Button had no right to sign for Williams.
The CRB's ruling is final, with super licences necessary to compete in Formula One given out only to drivers whose contracts are adjudged to be acceptable.
Williams now have to find another driver to partner Mark Webber in 2005. Williams current test driver Antonio Pizzonia, BAR tester Anthony Davidson and Jordan driver Nick Heidfeld are reportedly at the top of Sir Frank's list of possible replacements for Button.

So, who will be Mark Webber's teammate next year?
My money is on Jungle Boy, unless Frank Williams goes completely nuts and signs David "Even though I'm taking a sabbatical, next year could still be my year" Coulthard. :eekani:
DC will make a great Inter fan, and I'm sure many Inter fans like DC too. :devf:
Pizzonia should've become first choice, I think. The capability, the impressive display he had been showed must given him credit to fill in the seat.
Schumi gets grid penalty
Saturday October 23 2004
Michael Schumacher will lose ten grid places due to an engine change after he crashed his Ferrari in Saturday's second practice round.
The seven times World Champion lost control of his car on the bumpy track, turning into the fast Ferradura corner, just three minutes before the end of the final practice session.
He slammed backwards into the tyre barriers, the F2004 sustaining severe rear-end damage and bursting into flames around the engine bay. Schumi escaped unhurt.
However, his chances of winning the season finale at Brazil were hurt by his grid penalty.

Is Button with BAR still next year???
yes. and now Sir Frank Williams must be very confused to find another driver for next season to company Mark Webber.
Likely it's gonna be Pizzonia.
Is Button with BAR still next year???
Yes. His contract with BAR is deemed valid by CRB, which means he'll be staying with BAR in 2005. He'll most likely be joining Williams in 2006.
IMO, BAR has a very good package this year, and may improve on their performances next year.

WTF! Hermann Tilke again??
That means you can expect lotsa 1 km long straights, followed by some slow 1st/2nd gear corners or hairpins. :v46:
Sepang, Bahrain and Shanghai circuits were all designed by him and can you see the similarities? :delol: Based on the letter "M" alone, I can expect at least 4 long straights. :devf:
It's unlikely we will get to see fast corners like Eau Rouge or the 130R in new F1 tracks again.

Second driver decision in few weeks - Williams
Frank Williams says that a decision on who will partner Mark Webber in the 2005 BMW WilliamsF1 team line up will be taken in the coming weeks. A decision really must be taken before Christmas if the new driver is to settle into the team and help drive development of the new car when it comes out early next year.
"Although the 2004 season has now come to a conclusion, preparations for next year are well underway," Williams said. "Development of the new car is progressing and will continue relentlessly throughout the winter months."
"The victory at the last race of the season will give us great impetus for that development and as we head into a new Championship," he added. "In the meantime, we will be welcoming Mark Webber to the team at the first of our winter tests at Barcelona on 23rd November. We still have a seat to fill following the Contract Recognitions Board's decision regarding Jenson Button: an announcement confirming who that will be will come in the ensuing weeks."

Well well well... Just who will be Webby's teammate for 2005??
Before Frank Williams announces his 2nd driver for 2005, I've decided to have some fun on my own with some dice rolling to see if "fate" agrees with my "brain". :grinser:
As you know, a dice has 6 sides and so I've picked 6 drivers whom I think will have a chance of ending up behind the wheels of the FW27 in 2005.
1. David Coulthard - F1's eternal under-achiever, and the proud owner of the famous "Next year will be my year" quote (My gut feeling tells me DC is a BIG fan of FC Perdenti, and the support is mutual for FC Perdenti fans towards DC!). The stats said it all. How the phuck can someone who has been driving for 2 of the TOP F1 teams in his 10 over years of F1 career won just 13 races!! Despite his vast experience and so called "race-craft", a Williams drive for 2005 seems like a one in a million shot. There were reports that DC has offered to drive for free for Williams - and only get paid if he secure Championship points for the team. (My wallet tells me FC Perdenti has a 10% higher possibility of winning SERIOUS silverware in 2005 than DC driving for Williams. In numerical figures, that's of course one in 100,000.)
2. Mika Hakkinen - 2 times WDC and the only man capable of kicking Schumi's arse on a regular basis. The Great One has admitted that he'll consider making his F1 comeback if a competitive drive is available, a comeback which will no doubt be anticipated by all his fans worldwide (Yours truly included). Despite Mika's own claims that he has been keeping himself fit, does he still have the pace after being away from the cockpit of an F1 machine for 3 years? Sheva lookalike when he was the WDC, or how Sheva will look like in his mid 30s.
3. Antonio Pizzonia - Williams test driver and has done well deputising for Ralf Schumacher when Schumi Jr was out injured in 2004. But memories of his pathetic season as a race driver for Jaguar in 2003 still remains and it's questionable if he can perform consistently for Williams in a race situation. Pizzonia's relationship with Webber is reportedly like Ralf's with JPM, but I'm sure the Williams management and pit crew are used to such soap operas.
4. Nick Heinfeld - A German driver at Williams would please the big bosses at BMW, the engine suppliers for the Grove-based team. Was shortlisted to join Williams earlier in the year when Ralf was injured but the move was apparently blocked by Eddie Jordan. Dark horse.
5. Anthony Davidson - Ant impressed with superfast timings set at practices and tests for BAR. With Button now staying put at BAR for another year, Ant may well grab the opportunity of a full time race seat if he's being offered one than to remain as a test driver at BAR.
6. Jenson Button - YES! The man behind all the controversy himself! It seems that Frank Williams is so desperate to have Button in the cockpit of the FW27 that he has reportedly offered BAR a "take it or leave it" offer to buy out Button's contract for 2005. Will we see Button behind the wheels of a Williams next year? Your guess is as good as mine.
Finally...... The outcome of the dice throw is..... Ta-dah..........
Number 3 :eekani:
Fate has picked Jungle Boy to be Williams 2nd driver, which is also the image in my head!! :grinser:
Will Frank pick the same driver as fate? Will JB (Guess which one :smileani: ) drive for Williams? Watch this space.
Sauber F1 will use Michelin next season.
There is slight possiblity that after 2006 season Japan will have two GPs -- Suzuka [Honda] and Mount Fuji [Toyota].
:mex:
It's shocking truth the way Sauber do.
Well that possibility contradicts with the plan of reducing the high cost budget on every each rounds. Ford as you take into account as well, this season. I'm afraid this might faux pass from Bernie which he thinks the more money he gets, the more he controls everything. More than 19 rounds per year will be exhausted season, uneffective on R&D matters and cost sheets swollen turns into problem, which it's no big deal for top teams (even they do certainly vocalize the curtailment) but it's becomes big ones for small teams.
Well Where's DC going?Plan to retire?... :guw:
...
Will Frank pick the same driver as fate? Will JB (Guess which one :smileani: ) drive for Williams? Watch this space.
I think Sir Frank will consider DC then wait til Button's contract expires.. :D
thus he can get back Adrian Newey from McLaren. :D
there's also another JB around.. Jacques Billeneuve. :rotfl:
Silverstone and Magny-Cours will still have on calender next season. :)
Ford has sold Cosworth to Cart Champ [Kevin Kalkhoven and Gerald Forsythe]. It also confirmed that Jaguar was sold to Red Bull. Loox quite interesting. :mex:
Finally. It's really good balance, stability for managing F1 itself. It means the existence of F1 would NOT have had 'blown up' toward lower point caused by such a matter. And you obviously don't want to see 2005 as year of disarray/disorganization, do you?
I see the sunshine. :bright:

in other rumours, coulthard is apparently in the running for ferraris(!) test driver, it would be great for us to have such an experinced guy to help our testing but it does seem unlikley knowing how much coulthard 'loves' ferrari!
and david richards the man behind bar's rise may soon be out of a job if rumours that honda are planning to buy out bar are true.
I'd rather choose younger one but Coulthard..I hope it's just a rumour..;)
I've labeled him as McLaren's Product.. :rotfl: :ilol:
I see the sunshine. :bright:
Me too, RED sunshine :tong:
DC.... what???!!! :wth: .... he sux.... f u c k him....
never never NEVER N E V E R
I'd rather choose younger one but Coulthard..I hope it's just a rumour..;)
I've labeled him as McLaren's Product.. :rotfl: :ilol:
DC is very much younger than Luca Badoer, Rex.. :D
Well it's likely DC will being favourite for Niki Lauda to fill in one of the new Red Bull F1 seat..
So your career hasn't finished yet, DC...
yeah.. Old CRACKS...
Rex, what engine that Red Bull will use?
Ford Motor Company and Cosworth were jointly announcing on November 15, 2004, that Cosworth has been purchased by Kevin Kalkhoven and Gerald Forsythe, co-owners of the Champ Car World Series and heads of the PKV and Forsythe Championship Racing Champ Car teams, respectively.
Separately, Ford announced the sale of Jaguar Racing to Red Bull. As part of the deal the new Red Bull F1 team will continue to use Cosworth engines next year.
And Minardi will be also using Cosworth engines next season, helps underpin Cosworth’s long and ongoing role as an F1 engine supplier. :)
Any progress news guys?;)
Jannie Dahlman left her husband Kimi Raikonen so he decided to fell in alcoholism :haha:
Jordan F1 is almost sold to Arden team from F3000. It's owner Christian Horner now possesses almost 50,1% of shares and it cost is 57 mio US dollars.
You what?Really are you sure, rae?Jannie makes sub-headlines to leave his husband Kimi and couldn't control himself fell into alcoholism?Ohh goshh...
To the point is, what are he up to these days to break her woman's heart?
I believe Jordan will be a new Arden F1 team.
David Richards is now out of job due to Honda officially has bought up 45% of B.A.R shares. His place to be filled in by Nick Fry.

Date: 11 April 1993
Venue: Donington Park
Main Cast: Ayrton Senna da Silva :star: :proud: :star:
Supporting Casts: Alain Prost, Damon Hill, Karl Wendlinger & Michael Schumacher
Fixture: European Grand Prix (Race #3 of the 1993 Formula 1 Fixture)
Script: (http://www.farzadsf1gallery.com/features/donin93/don931.mpg) It was a wet, rainy afternoon on raceday, and Lord Senna, in an under-powered McLaren, qualified 4th on the grid, behind the frontrunners of the far superior Williams team (polesetter Alain Prost & Damon Hill), and a certain up & coming young German driver by the name of Michael Schumacher of the Benetton team qualified 3rd.
When the green lights (no 5 red lights in those days) illuminated, the mighty Williams duo rocketed off to lead the pack and Lord Senna found himself in 5th position approaching the first corner due an explosive start from Sauber's Karl Wendlinger from 5th place to 3rd. As Lord Senna tried to pass Schumacher for 4th place, the German closed him down with the infamous patented "Schumi Chop". Lord Senna lost a place but quickly regained it by going the opposite direction of Schumi and passing him for good.
As the Craner curve approached, all the drivers kept in a single file on the inside, not daring to go off the racing line in the wet conditions. But Lord Senna moved right to take the outside line and overtook Wendlinger for third position.
2 corners later, Lord Senna sliced past Damon Hill on the inside for 2nd place and with polesetter Alain Prost now in his sight, the Brasilian passed his former teammate after the S-bend with an off-the-limit piece of late breaking before the end of Lap 1.
The race was far from over as the weather conditions changed continuously that afternoon. The rain stopped, started, stopped & started and it was a game of pit stop poker as teams gambled on their type choice. Lord Senna eventually won the race comfortably, and at one stage, with the rain falling hard, was even FASTER on SLICK tyres than the wet-tyred Williams cars.
Without doubt, the best ever opening lap in F1 history and Lord Senna the greatest racer of all time!
Merry X'mas everyone & accept this as my X'mas present :bri:

this a bit more gossip from paul stoddart, this is taken from the itv website:
Paul Stoddart has revealed that Ferrari are subsidised by the other nine teams on the grid.
The Minardi boss made the dramatic disclosure in an interview that appears in the latest edition of F1 Racing magazine.
Asked if he thought the FIA were under the thumb of Ferrari, Stoddart replied: “No, I just think... Ferrari are special.
“Why do all the other teams pay money, real chequebook-out money, to Ferrari every year, under the Concorde Agreement?
“Why on earth, with our tight finances, do Minardi, for example, have to pay money to Ferrari every year? There’s no good reason for it.
"The answer we’re given is that it’s ‘in recognition of their historical contribution to the sport’.”
Stoddart is also unhappy with the influence that the world champions have over the sport’s regulations.
He said: “There’s talk, and I can’t say if it’s true or not, that the 2005 regulations were written by, among others, 18 people from Ferrari.
"It’s only paddock talk, of course – but then again, Max has openly conceded that the FIA consulted Ferrari, hasn’t he?
“I’ve got a lot of respect for Ferrari, particularly for Michael (Schumacher), but if a team are totally dominating the championship, and have done for years and will do so for the next few years, then it adds insult to injury to let these people write the rules because it’s fairly obvious they’ll write them in a way that suits them.
“Believe me, Ferrari are going to win the 2005 and 2006 titles, and there’s nothing any of us can do about it.”
For the full explosive interview with Stoddart, check out the February edition of F1 Racing magazine - on sale tomorrow.
Well I come back to see this some kinda accusation made up by Minardi bos, Paul Stoddart...:D
Lets see...as usual, seems far fetched nothing more for public to see this reveal. My capacity couldn't give you detailed nor depth answer to this Stoddart's phrase on to what exactly happen during the paddock. The inner circle amongst Ferrari management and the twin F1 policy holder, Mr.E and Mosley might already have known this alleged special connection long time ago which made up by media to live it up the headlines to sold-out purpose. I would say, we can pick it up an instance why the regulations made up into drastical last year which allegedly *detained* their authority in recent years. But the fact tells the scene from at Albert Park to following 14 wins of 18 round, Scuderia display were incredibly shocking, made other teams as if 10 feet left behind technically and F2004 had been claimed as one of the best/greatest car in F1 history.
Stoddart may claim of what he seen. But Ferrari's distribution of what regulations supposed to be is no big deal (remains corridor as part of participant) to learn further for FIA itself, and not all in way of their input that suits FIA anyhow. I think to consult anything at F1 teams for FIA own sake as well how to improve in keep managing well of F1 thus far. ;)
So that's it. It arrived. 2005 season. Again battles in circuts and out. :de3:

:firedev:
The sun shone down on Giancarlo Fisichella in Qualifying One for the Australian GP as the Renault driver got the best of the mixed conditions and claimed provisional P1.
On a rapidly drying track Fisichella had lowered the fastest time to a 1:33.171. However, just as he crossed the finish line the rain pelted down in Melbourne ruining Michael Schumacher's lap and sending Takuma Sato into the wall.
As a result, the drivers who posted times just before Fisi occupied the provisional front rows of the grid with Jarno Trulli second, home favourite Mark Webber third and Jacques Villeneuve an incredible fourth in his debut race for Sauber.
Big losers were the men running last, Fernando Alonso, the two Ferraris and the two McLarens. In a session rich with irony Michael Schumacher ended up solidly beaten by the two hastily modified Minardis.
With a drying track the biggest determining factor was always going to be the order of drivers taking to the circuit. As Ferrari technical chief Ross Brawn said before the action started. “We’ll be at the mercy of the weather – and the kind of window you get. What we really want is a very wet track or a very dry track.” In the end he got a very wet track.
First out were the rookie drivers who didn’t compete in 2004. Cristijan Albers was the poor unfortunate who had to take to the circuit first in his hastily adapted Minardi. Albers hit the track in full wet weather gear having had precious little running after Minardi missed Friday free practice.
He took too much speed into the first turn but held the car on the road and dodged the standing water on his way round to a 1.49.230. Team-mate Patrick Friesacher, a graduate from last year’s F3000 championship had a big spin in Saturday morning practice and was more wary as a result. His 1:50.864 was run with bright sunlight lighting up the spray and puddles.
Narain Karthikeyan was next out. The Indian had the whole of his rear end changed on the Jordan this morning after an engine fire. Karthikeyan had a much more controlled lap than the previous two drivers, his 1:44.357 was over four and a half seconds quicker.
Tiago Monteiro in the second Jordan seemed less committed than his team-mate and sp it proved as the car crossed the line with a 1:46.846.
Jenson Button was the first of the class of 2004 out on the track being the first person to retire from the last race of the 2004 season. Qualifying 1 being run in the reverse order of that race. Button strapped on intermediates tyres as the circuit started to dry out.
Jenson stuck in a 1:41.512 and it looked set for every successive driver to lower that time. The Brit was surely going to start the race near the back. “We didn’t have a good balance,” JB reported afterwards, already talking about the next race in Malaysia before he’d qualified for the first one. However this was before the rain came down.
Nick Heidfeld in the BMW-Williams also went for the intermediate tyre and had big nose-twitching moments in Turns 2 and 3. The German was a second and a half up on Button’s first sector time. However Nick understeered wide and lost some of his advantage.on the grass, a 1:39.717 for Nick.
Still on intermediates team-mate Mark Webber was next, and in turn was a second up on Heidfeld’s first sector time. His 1:36.717 gave him a three second gap that Heidfeld was unlikely to pull back.
Christian Klien whose race impact with Webber had ended his 2004 Brazilian GP was next out in the Red Bull and was 0.3 seconds slower after the first sector. In some parts of the circuit a dry line was developing. 1:37.486 was only good enough for P2 though.
Qualifying specialist Jarno Trulli was four tenths up on Webber’s provisional fastest time on his first run in the Toyota. His 1.35.270 lap was another second and a half bite out of the P1 time.
David Coulthard in the Red Bull on intermediates was cautious in the braking zones and lagged behind Trulli’s first sector time. A conservative lap from DC of 1:38.050 which was actually slower than team-mate: “a lot of crabbing and understeer, very poor balance” DC reported on the radio on his inlap.
As DC came back in the sunshine disappeared and heavy clouds started to loom in the background of Albert Park.
Jacques Villeneuve was the first driver out to use dry tyres and promptly lost control of the car on his outlap. Luckily JV didn’t hit anything and kept the Sauber in one piece. Jacques recorded a 1.36.984.
Giancarlo Fisichella in the Renault also had dry tyres and was so quick he overtook the slowing Villeneuve by the middle of his hot lap (though JV had gone off again, during his slow return). Fisi brought his new Renault home with a lightning1.33.171 the fastest by two seconds.
And seconds after finishing his lap, the dark clouds that had been gathering in the previous ten minutes suddenly began to drop their contents on Albert Park.
As Massa took to the track the rain came down in stair rods and Felipe had to slow his lap to a crawl, his Sauber being equipped with dry tyres. Felipe was twenty-seven seconds down in the first sector! He spent the lap crawling in and was actually overtaken by Michael Schumacher on his outlap. Utterly bizarre.
Michael Schumacher already had intermediate tyres strapped on when ideally he would have wanted wets. The World Champion was almost nine seconds down after the first sector. Schumi crawled round to record a dismal 1.57.931 and was 13th out of 14 runners.
He soon became 13th out of 15 as Takuma Sato wiped his BAR-Honda into the wall on the exit of Turn 8 on his outlap. The Japanese driver had the unfortunate distinction of being the first qualifying casualty of 2005. And not even on a hot lap. Replays showed that Michael Schumacher also lost it in the same place as Taku, but held on to a sliding Ferrari rear end.
The session was red-flagged while Taku’s BAR was collected and Ralf Schumacher had to return to the pits in his Toyota.
Though there was a delay, it was still raining when Ralf returned to the track for his first run in anger for his new team. But at least he was equipped with the full extreme wet weather tyre sending out a huge rooster tail of spray.
Ralf was very cautious in the conditions. His lap was six seconds better than his brother but still only one place above him and behind Freisacher’s Minardi.
Next out Fernando Alonso didn’t have a hope in hell of getting near his team-mate but he was significantly quicker than Ralf, running the same tyre. 1.47.708 took him just ahead of the two Minardis.
Ruibens Barrichello was able to show what a Ferrari could do with a full Bridgestone wet tyre. Rubinho managed to jump Alonso and Monteiro with a 1.45.481.
Kimi Raikkonen wasn’t holding back in the difficult conditions and anybody watching on the onboard camera would have had a nervous time of it. Raikkonen managed to muscle his way past Barrichello’s time and claim provisional 10th. McLaren team-mate Montoya was similarly twitchy but slower than Raikkonen after the first sector. Juan Pablo finished with a 1.45.325 and provisional 11th.
So at the end of Qualy 1 we had a topsy turvy grid with the top 10 cars separated by 11 seconds. Because of the huge differences in conditions when the cars went out the gaps are too large for the difference to be made up in dry running.
The only thing that will rob Fisichella of pole will be more rain at the wrong time. The World Champion was twenty-four seconds behind provisional pole. Not even he can sort this one out. Luckiest boy of all was Jacques Villeneuve. After a miserable winter he spun on his first outlap, left the track on his inlap and still grabbed 4th.
This is why we watch F1.

Yes! The F1 season will begin tomorrow in Melbourne and it seems Fisi will grab pole barring a disaster lap in Q2 (The times set in Q1 & Q2 will be averaged, with the one driver with the best aggregate time over the 2 sessions being the pole winner :wallbang: ). Surprisingly Schumi got outpaced by the Minardis :eekani: in Q1 :devf:
It's gonna be a helluva interesting race :bri:
PS: rae, are you joining the XT F1 Prediction League? If yes, please read the rules and post your predictions by today.
this will be Rubens and Juan Pablo's year

I'm glad that Fisichella represents Renault this season. He is a great F1-driver and I hope that he'll finally be able to show his skills.
There were some problems with Minardi and it was said that they may not be allowed to compete because of some restrictions, however I think that they will be able to start this season because I want Friesacher to represent Austria in a better way than Klien did. Lauda and Berger should not stay the only Austrian drivers who were successful. :D However, I suppose that Friesacher will not really manage more than Klien did...I hope what I suppose is wrong :D
I'm also looking forward to seeing Karthikeyan because of his nationality which isn't very common in the F1. He's from India, isn't he`? We mostly have drivers from Finland, Germany, Italy and the South American countries have also become common, but India? I can't remember any Indian F1-pilot, do you?
Final Classification
1. Giancarlo Fisichella (Renault)
2. Rubens Barrichello (Ferrari)
3. Fernando Alonso (Renault)
4. David Coulthard :eekani: (Red Bull)
5. Mark Webber (Williams)
6. Juan Pablo Montoya (McLaren)
7. Christian Klien :eekani: (Red Bull)
8. Kimi Raikkonen (McLaren)
Great start to the F1 season by Renault. Fisi won the race comfortably having led from start to finish after grabbing pole position due to some good fortune in the weather conditions during his qualifying session. Impressive display from debutants Red Bull (formerly Jaguar) as both drivers finished in point scoring positions :eekani: Could this year finally be DC's year? :D
McLaren finished in 6th & 8th place after starting the race from the middle of the grid due to bad luck in qualifying where both Montoya and Raikkonen had to do their flying lap in the downpour on a wet track. Michael Schumacher once again executed his infamous Schumi chop as Nick Heidfeld attempted an overtaking move, but this time he closed the door too early and as a result the two cars collided  ending the races of both the German drivers prematurely. Schumi's teammate, Barrichello, drove a strong race to finish in 2nd position after starting the race from 11th place on the grid.
Interersting, both BAR drivers Jenson Button and Takuma Sato pitted on their last lap the race and did not cross the finishing line, taking advantage of the loophole in the new rules, and they will race with new engines in Sepang.

difficult to tell what to make of today's race, firstly the renaults look very strong and perhaps have the fastest car, and the ferrari's don't seem to be too far off renault's pace, red bull were very impressive, coulthard held off webber fairly easily. williams, mclaren, toyota and bar failed to make any impression.
as a ferrari fan, i was dissapointed in schumacher, i think he should be given a 1 match ban, the chop of heidfeld was definatley villieneuve-esuq if not as bad.
this will be Rubens and Juan Pablo's year :cool:I see you consolidate with south americanos :D

As a Ferrari fan I could say otherwise. heidfeld did a great mistake if he wanted to overtake Schumi in such situation... that was impossible.... he did the same as Sato usually does - do not look to future and do what he wants :stress: :fero:
Race was not so disappointing as it could be... cuz Nandito showed his class :p283: ... and Rubinho also prooved that Ferrari still remains the main challenger for champion title :p283: :mex:
