I share your sentiment! I want some Latinos to win the F-1 Series. It's been a while.
I am also following latinos though not JPM :yuck:
I take it you like team Ferrari. I'm not sure. Are you? or Do you prefer another team?
I just think Ferrari is the "Juve" of Formula-1. Sorry!

No WONDER I like Ferrari :D
Everyone hates Ferrari for its dominance but really, hating something just because they're good is ludicrous. We should all appreciate their brilliance and try to compete with it - which is exactly what Renault is doing, kudos!
I just think Ferrari is the "Juve" of Formula-1. Sorry!First of all I am Ferrari fan.
Secondly Ferrari do not cheat ;)
Thirdly tell this Giovanni and Lorenzo [aka Lombardia].
Fourthly Ferrari is red and Milan is red too.
Finally Gio lives in Torino though supports Milan ;)

Im going for the QF tomorrow. I wonder if it'd be fun. I've only been to the races, but not the qualifying rounds.. hmm...
No WONDER I like Ferrari :D

Ok. ok.ok. I notice that Ferrari has this impeccable aura that you folks have pointed out here. Yet when it comes to Juve, we now start hearing all the conspiracy theory around and about. Do you believe in a Juve conspiracy??? And if there is, why does it not exist in another Fiat subsidiary like Team Ferrari?
Sorry for asking but I been meaning to catch people in this little trap of mine. Not neccessarily you folks. Sehnsucht and Rae. But you need to explain it to me. Cause if it exists in one Fiat subsidiary as Juve why not in Agnelli's other one Ferrari???
First of all I am Ferrari fan.

Well I dont think Juve cheats.
Nor does Team Ferrari.
Yet for two entities so closely connected to each other, why does one allegedly "cheats" and not the other???
What I want is for some one who might be a Ferrari fan explain this to me, if they at the same time say Juve cheat. That's all.
sehnsucht79

Because Ferrari does not have Moggi and Giraudo :mute:
It doesnt go higher than that??? Cause if we talk conspiracy, it takes more money and influence than those two. Like I said a lot of realtionship but no connection? They are one happy big family. Or is it simply we dont like Juve, so they must be cheaters kind of mentality in the works here.
sehnsucht79

I agree with the last sentence.
Anyway should Juventus be involved in any conspiracy - which I think actually runs in Italian football itself, not just Juventus - yes I do believe it revolves Juventus only and has nothing to do with the Agnelli family.
That is, IF we're involved which I obviously think we dont, but lets not argue bout that here.
Ok. So Juve so calls "cheats". That would mean they're very clever by throwing last season away so that we win the title on their good graces and not on our will and talent or any credit what so ever for our team. Boy they really are nice to us. They do that once a season or so for the fact that they dont want to be too inconspicuous.
Better yet. Maybe we just outbidded and outbribed those that we need to in order to achieve a victory and it is "our little secret" between us and Juve.
You see this is why I cannot for the love of god stand for one bit any notion of a conspiracy that is supposedly going on in the works. You catching my point here. So what I want is people to kinda step back and look at the folly of their thinking here because it makes absolutely no sense. And it is demeaning to OUR team to think this is how the game works!
FORZA MILAN!
ooops. I didnt read your last sentence. Yes I do not want to argue about that here. Kinda too late though. Ahhh F_ck! :v46:

Whassup dudes :devs: I'm back from Sepang and I must say whenever I was there (2002, 2003 and 2005), the Evil Empire has NEVER won the Grand Prix  Looks like I must make the Sepang trip an annual event in my calender :devf:
Not the best of races to be honest, and Kimi would have gotten a podium finish if not for the blown tyre :irritate: With the new engine & tyre rules this year, I have this feeling that races will get pretty boring, with the pole setter the likely race winner leading from start to finish :sleepy: Let's hope I'm wrong :hopefull:
Congrats to Toyota on their first ever podium finish :star: And Redbull once again looked the surprise package with their great early season form :eekani:

the 'evil empire' now seems to be fighting the good forces of red bull for hallowed position of 6th :( i can't wait for our new car, although rubens 2nd pos in australia was promising, this race has cleary shown how far behind we are. the tyres are also a major factor, michelin are destroying bridgestone and this is not helping ferrari at all, especially in qualifying. we are at least 1.5 seconds slower than renault if not more!!
mcclaren probably are renaults main challengers at the moment, but their cars seem to be much harder on the tyres than renault. i believe the tyre rule changes should be changed back and we can see the real pace of the cars. anyway lets roll onto barain, and hopefull we can beat those red bull cars for once :D go evil empire :D:D:D
Yes... if not Ferrari's new car no one could challenge Renault. We desperately need our new car, ASAP. Now it seems that we are riding on bikes. :stress: Only 2 points, what a disaster. What a shame. Dont they felt that after Australian GP. It was obuvous that without new car we can do nothing.
Nandito made good run though and deserved his second victory. He is great pilot. And superior over Fisico. We need him ASAP. Cuz if we not then someone else and we will be left with Massa who does a mistake in a race every time. Nandito to Ferrari!!!
:star: !Fuerza Nandito! :star:

Toyota should be doing well, they have by an absolute mile the biggest budget in the sport. Ironically up to now their problem has always been the complete opposite of what the Toyota name is famed for: Reliability.
Only a team with Toyota's budget can afford paying sky high wages on two of the most overrated drivers on the grid :devf:

toyota are doing well thou it has to be said, and in particular jarno trulli, although it can be claimed that he is inconsistent, he has been the second best drive so far in the championship. the knew ferrari looked better, even if renault still has a small advantdge, but at least we are back up there challenging so far. however wecan only really judge that in race conditions. williams looked ok, but mclaren are down in 7th and 9th, and nearly a second of the pace, but i expect them to come strong, v strong during the race.
Kimi screwed up his qualifying lap... :wallbang: He was on the verge of provinsional pole till he ran wide & hit the curbs at the final turn towards the start/finish line :moan: Though I don't think he's quick enough to beat Alonso or Trulli's time but I reckon it would move him up to either P3 or P4.
At least there's still another session tomorrow :hopefull: Damn... I'm sounding like an Interista :D

great race, and pedro de la rosa was just fantastic to watch, definatley man of the race for me in terms of sheer entertainment :D
alonso won easily again, trulli till about the 1st pit stop was following him easily but then dropped off and he cruised home, schumacher was doing extremely well, but our reliability let us down (i can't quite believe i've said that!) at least the new car is very fast, alonso might be too far ahaead in the standings aleady thou, but at least we've got a car to challenge.
mclaren have got a fast car, but for some reason they keep qualifying badly and they lose too much time going through the field, if they could start near the front they would be able to challenge for race wins.raikkonen 3rd de la rosa 5th
williams, well they were up there, but clearly have the 4th fastest car if not 5th.webber 6th heidfeld DNF
toyota, great race for them, ralf and trulli putting in solid races, and trulli is emerging as alonso's main challenger!! trulli 2nd ralf 4th
renault, fisichella had day to forget his race ending early with his car breaking down, alonso winning. alsono 1st fisichell DNF
ferrari, well the new car certainley is quick enough, but its no where near reliable, we have 3 weeks to sort it out, and if we can sort out the gear box and the transimssion and the hydraulics, we should be back up there, a pretty big if thou for imola, i think in 3 races time ferrari will be at full strength. barricehllo was doing well, but then his gearbox and tyres starting dying and he limped home, barrichello 98th, schumacher DNF
red bull, the early season promise has not been continued, they struggled at the back. coulthard 8th klein DNF
sauber, villenueve is a lame duck, he will be gone before you know it, massa drove well again and picked up 2 pts massa 7th, villeneuve DNF
bar, what happened to last year's break through team? no points this year and 1 finish out of 6 i think, both drivers were running in the low points, mainly due to other teams mis fortune, they are at best the 6th best team now button:dnf, sato :dnf
jordan, brave struggle at least they are not as bad as minardi, kathariyan(?):DNF monteiro:10th
minardi: i love this team, but they are so bad its painful to watch they finished 4laps down in 11th and 12th (albers and freisher-ish)
minardi and jordan, one word,
Best race of 2005! :star:
McLaren showed they've got the pace in races, but not in qualifying  If they had qualified much higher on the grid, they'd be challenging Renault for the top spot on the podium. :wallbang:
Alonso lead from start to finish for the 2nd straight race, while Fisi got his 2nd straight DNF :bri: Man of the race was definitely Pedro de la Rosa :proud: who overtook Button, Barrichello & Webber with Montoyaesque techniques :eekani: which even Juancho would have been proud of
Last but not least, Forza Ferrari :D
Being BMW supporter i have to say that i am pleased with their performance, and i think we can expect much more in the future from both Heidfeld and Webber.
FORZA BMW!;)
Disappointing race for me as Schumi fan, though I am happy that Nandito contunue his reign :star:.
REally interesting and eyecatching race that was. May stupid mistakes and many breakdowns too. That's what make the race so fantastic to watch.
Pedro de la Rosa was the man - joke. He was so fast though he could not ajust track and overtake many of his rivals... he was a joker. I am a bit surprised of McL speed. It is something that make everyone curous about...
New car of Ferrari is a fast one though lacks of reliability. I bet if Schumi was finished that would have been the first place ;) Do not know what happened to Rubinho, though it seems to be problems with a new car too.
Great race by Nandito. He made no mistakes. Although almost all of his rivals done one or more silly diriving failures. I wont be disappointed if Nando win this year [though it is unlikely :D]

and Ferrari still struggling with their Bridgestone tyres and gerbox shift. Schummi lost his engine brake and Rubens lost his grip. :D

Expect a great race weekend for McLaren :hopefull:

Michael Backmarker,
i like that even if it not what i want:d, but it is true:D well it looks like we won't win anything this year, and the only challenger to alonso will be raikonnen, but i doubt it, mclaren always have reliability issues, and that will probably end up costy raikonnen, who i reckon, has probably the fastest package in f1 this season. anyway still a long way to go yet, i hope at least schumi can get into the points this race. also congrats to BAR, a big return to form for them

TALK ABOUT ADRENALINE!! WHAT a great race !! I have mixed feelings bout this ... One of those moments where you could just die of nervousness, was really hoping Schumi to win it ... Nevertheless kudos to Michael , he has shown why hes a great champ regardless of what all you anti-Ferrari people say !! :D Alonso defended really well, and it reminded me of Hakkinen ... Mika was one of the few who could defend his position well . Till the last lap our hearts beat faster ... a great race thats all I have to say. Absolutely grand!!

I wanted to say "Kimi Raikkonen" and "Mika Hakkinen" in class today and I ended up saying "Miki Haikkonen", bloody hell.
McLaren's cars are in a sorry state. BMW's already nonexistent. Dont talk about Sauber, I'm pissed at them.
McLaren loox quite cometative this year, though it scarce of reliability in the race. Although I should admit that Ferrari's new car is obivously superior

Qualy Two: Raikkonen Takes Pole Ahead Of Webber
Sunday May 08 2005
Kimi Raikkonen claimed his second successive pole position on Sunday and will start the Spanish GP alongside Mark Webber.
Fernando Alonso, try as he might, could not grab the coveted grid slot on home soil and will begin the race P3 on the grid. Ralf Schumacher is fourth for Toyota having outqualified Jarno Trulli for the first time in 2005.
Qualifying 2 Report: The track temperature was 25C and the ambient at 19C when the cars took to the circuit – considerably lower than yesterday’s Qualifying 1 conditions.
Patrick Friesacher went out in the Mimardi PS05 and had a wild time of understeer and oversteer on his way to an aggregate of 2:42.759.
Team-mate Cristijan Albers was more controlled, 0.6 quicker over the lap, and managed to amass an aggregate of 2:41.141.
Next up, the Jordan of Tiago Monteiro had a big engine failure as he crossed the line. Though a ten-slot grid deduction for an engine change wouldn’t really affect him that much, it will be a concern to the six Toyota engineers installed in the Jordan garage.
The session was then red-flagged with Narain Karthikeyan out on track so that marshals could check the levels of oil put down on the main straight. The marshals then put down a large patch of cement dust over the spot – the fact that there is a large cement works just down the road from the track obviously helped them be generous in their application.
Karthikeyan chose to run through the cement dust and have it stuck to his tyres over the lap. A more cautious lap than usual for Narain, who had no places to gain by thrashing it. For the record he was again faster than Monteiro who had lost power during his hot lap.
Jacques Villeneuve’s Sauber was a massive amount quicker than the previous cars – a single lap of 1:19.686 and an aggregate of 2:36.480.
In the gap between batches of five, the marshals decided to put even more cement dust down.
Tonio Liuzzi started with a 0.5 advantage over Villeneuve and the Red Bull driver increased it to over a second – 2:35.302.
McLaren’s Juan Montoya had no problem with Campsa, as he had done in Friday practice, and was a country mile ahead of the Red Bull time. He had a single lap time of 1:17.570 giving him an aggregate of 2:33.472.
Sauber’s Felipe Massa was again over a second quicker than team-mate Jacques Villeneuve but was considerably slower than Montoya – 2:34.224 for the little Brazilian.
The second Red Bull of David Coulthard was again quick in the first sector but lost time to Montoya in the second half of the lap – single lap of 1:18.373 and an aggregate 2:34.168.
Rubens Barrichello was due out next in the Ferrari but after having an engine change yesterday, the Scuderia decided not to run a second qualifying lap. With the 10-lap grid slot penalty he would be starting at the back anyway.
The decision might or might not have been made at the last minute because Barrichello was all suited up ready to go out, unlike in previous races where Sauber told Felipe Massa early in the morning that he wouldn’t be running till the race. However Race Control knew a long time before because a note came on screen explaining the gap during David Coulthard’s run.
Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella was a lot quicker than he was yesterday with a single lap of 1:17.229 and an aggregate of 2:32.830 - into provisional P1 for Giancarlo.
There was a lot of speculation that after his Imola success the World Champion would again run heavy with fuel. Michael Schumacher had a 0.2 advantage over Fisi going into the session, but by Sector 2 he was already 0.4 down on Fisi’s time – a 1:18.153 for Schumi and an aggregate of 2:33.551.
Mark Webber had a 0.5 edge over Fisi and he managed a much quicker lap than the Italian with his new BMW engine installed in his Williams – an impressive 1:16.626 for the Australian and a 2:31.668 aggregate.
“It was very clean, but Mark’s always been exceptional at single lap qualifying. He was ahead of our projections,” said a pleased Williams director Patrick Head.
The final five were separated by just 0.2 of a second, but because Nick Heidfeld had two engine changes, he opted to do what Rubens Barrichelo had done, and not go out. He was due a 20-lap grid deduction and would start from the very back.
So next out was Ralf Schumacher who had a small slide going downhill into Turn 5. Ralf’s time was slower than Webber and he dropped behind the Aussie on the provisional grid. 2:31.917 and provisional P4.
McLaren’s Kimi Raikkonen had the chance to make amends for his mistake in Qualifying 1. He was only up by 0.2 on Webber’s time by Sector 2 indicating that the Aussie might have run light on fuel. Kimi crossed the line with the fastest time so far, a 1:16.602 and a 2:31.421 aggregate.
Renault home boy Fernando Alonso was aiming for another pole from a disappointing P2 yesterday. He was a tenth down on Raikkonen by Sector 1, a few hundredths down by Sector 2, but worse, 0.2 down as he crossed the line, dropping behind even Mark Webber. The huge Spanish crowd were very disappointed.
Finally it was the turn of Jarno Trulli who had a big chance to put his Toyota on pole. But Jarno was 0.1 down on Raikkonen’s time in Sector 1, 0.3 down in Sector 2 and a surprising 0.6 down on the lap. It even dropped him behind team-mate Ralf Schumacher for the first time in 2005.
It gave the pole to Raikkonen. “We knew we lost half a second on a corner yesterday and it was just a question of Kimi putting in the perfect lap, and he did,” said a delighted McLaren boss Ron Dennis afterwards.

Obviously McLaren's MP4-20 is the fastest car on track for this time being, but it ain't that reliable and it's frightening me..

I have to admit that. We are so strong during the race, but there are some reasons why we do not realise it. First is that we do not preform in quallification. Second is that most of F1 tracks are not race tracks at all. You simlpy can not overtake yer rival even though you are much faster.
Otherwise I do not think that it will last for long time. Our team is trying to erase these problems in trainings and I hope they will do it ASAP. That's why Ferrari is great!
Nando and Renault is under pressure for sure. They do not preform in race like they used to earlier, and McL is seems to be a fast one and in the qual and in the race at the same time. However I still believe in Scuderia and Schumi :proud: :star:
Forza Schumi

I think all the new rules have ruined F1. Especially the tyre rule. Thats bloody ludicrousyeah, it's so ironic. Teams are working hard to develop faster cars, but FIA keep cutting down the speed by creating many ridiculous regulations, especially tyre rule.
By the way, FIA have changed the regulation for Qualifying Session. It will be One Qualifying at Saturday. with only 1 flying lap I think all teams must gamble to determine their car setting and pit-stop strategy.
This regulation starts from European GP at Nurburgring, this weekend.
about the Monaco GP, Kimi won it quite easily. seems like no other contender could challenge him. He maintained his lead from start (pole) to finish, even after his pit-stop. another "clean sheet" for him after Barcelona.
I do salute his decision not to take pit-stop during safety car situation (even his team has told him to do so) and prefer to seize the gap. and he succeded!
anyway, it was nice to hear Button's commentry.. :D
by the way, with that result, Schumi failed to win (remains 5 wins), then "The Prince of Monaco" is still Ayrton Senna da Silva (6 wins).
and Kimi is the 3rd Finn ever won The Monaco GP after Keke Rosberg and Mika Hakkinen.
fvckin rules ruined SF in qualification... I hope we will start to do better from next change of qualification....

HIGHLIGHTS OF MONACO GP: Other than the 'traffic jam', Red Bull's car was filled with Star Wars add and their mechanics looked damn good :D
It was a fvck up sporting week for me
First, Milan lost the CL final after dominating the game. Then, McLaren sufferred what is their worst race weekend of the F1 season
Kimi lost the race after leading in the FINAL lap due to a failed right front suspension, which led to a blown tyre, handing the win on a silver platter to his nearest championship contender Fernando Alonso. Just what does Kimi have to do to finish a race, let alone win at Nurburgring :depress: Remember he was leading by a big margin at Nurburgring in 2003 too, before being forced to retire due to mechanical failure.
Montoya had a great start and was third going to the first corner before some stupidities by Mark Webber forced him off the track and to the back of the pack :fero: It'll be interesting to see Montoya having a blast at Webber at the press conference after the race. Fvck you Webber!!! :5dito: :fero: :5dito:
If it was written in the stars that Liverpool will win the CL, then it's destined that Alonso will be WDC & Renault will win the Constructor's championship :stress:

Im a Ferrari supporter but really... one MUST feel sorry for Kimi Raikkonen. He did everything right up till that point but the right tyre just gave out, the vibration was visible. And he was SO, SO close to getting first. Now he ends up with NO point (I think) at all which is totally unfair after leading the whole race.
Alonso's lucky. Reminds me of the race sometime back when Mika was leading only to lose it in the final moments as his car stopped or something and Schumi got no. 1. The jinx of McLaren
Sauber needs to repair their fvckin brakes.
Fvckin McL was so close to another victory, but then The God woke up and corrected what was wrong. HAHAHA Kimi was out due his stupid mistakes during the race when he blocked his tyre in right hand turns. He was driving like a child. He got what he was worth to get.
I recall that super Catalunya GP in 2001 when mika spoiled his motor and it breoke down in the middle of last lap. What a memory :D :D :D.
JPM and Ralf made a stupid situation in the first turn so that Webber was hit out and Schumi lost many positions. And they remained unpunished :wth:
Ferrari starts to perform in race like they used to do earlier. Even though Schumi had problems in first corner. Anyway, nice win by Nadito! Again [now four fingers] :D

I recall that super Catalunya GP in 2001 when mika spoiled his motor and it breoke down in the middle of last lap. What a memory :D :D :D.
Yes I remember that too  ohhhhh the satisfaction when schumi went past his car .....
Weird race. I do not know how to rate them. Just really quaint one. Schumi started second but soon he found himslef in sixth position :depress: However soon he started to show his speed. Three pit stop tactic was quite risky but it paid dividends.
I am exteremley happy for Rubinho. He was so unlucky to start his race from pit lane, however in the end he finished on podium :eekani:  That is a real achievement!
I wanted rain eventually interrupt the race however it did not happen. But the race was quite interesting even without it. Many crashes [especially Button's - Champions Wall] and brakedowns made it more interesting. Stupid maitake by jpm made him retire from the race being one of the leaders :hihihi:
I bet that next race will be even better for my team. I hope it will be the first victory :D

What a fvcked up season for Juancho :fero:
First the oil rig failure in Catalunya caused him a potential podium finish. Then a 10 grid demotion in Monte Carlo for an "accident" caused in practice. In Nurburgring, it was Webber taking him out in the first corner when he was in third position. Now it's a dubious black flag fiasco cooked up by the race stewards for exiting the pit lanes when the red lights were on :googly: :dumpf:
The Safety Car ruined McLaren & Juancho's race this weekend. Both Juancho & Kimi were having a big lead over 3rd place Button before he crashed and the Safety Car ate up their lead they had bulit over the race :fero: It could have easily been Juancho's first victory for the Silver Knights and a McLaren 1-2 :wallbang:
The Evil Empire stole an undeserved 14 points in Juve fashion :dumpf:
The only positive result for the Knights this weekend is the retirement of both Renaults.
The Evil Empire stole an undeserved 14 points in Juve fashion :dumpf::wth: WTF... hey, you shut up :fero: :nunu:
I bet Ron Dennis was guilty for jpm's disqualification... he ordered to take finn in front of jpm to the pit lane, so that colombian was forced to make a stupid mistake... I guess the leader should be invited first to load the fuel not the second driver :dconf:
I am sorry for what had happened... really sorry... even as Ferrari fan I have to say that we were not a team without fault however I am very sorry for those who say that the main reason of this is Ferrari... it is so stupid... how can you say that when there not only Ferrari paricipating in that race... and Jordan and Miandri were the teams which did not boycott the race... if one of then have said strong NO to the race... I bet FIA will be canceled it. However everyone shut their eyes infront of this and say what they want to say. It is ludicous and foolish. Only stupid can say that most guilty are Ferrari... they are not the only team who rules everything...
I would say that the main part of fault should carry Michelin. They did not commit the pionts in their contracts to produce safe and competatvive tyres for every race.
The second most guilty is FIA. They did not nothing to stop this boycott and spectators were the victims of that. They MUST have done something to make a compromise to stop this fake race. They did nothing.
End.
God hates Montoya (& McLaren)
More bad luck hit Juan Pablo Montoya at Magny-Cours as the Colombian driver suffered yet another mechanical failure in his McLaren career. JPM was running strong in 3rd place before a transmission (??) failure forced him to park his car at the tyre wall and prematurely ended what could have been a great weekend for McLaren. Kimi Raikkonen drove a strong race to finish in 2nd place after starting from 13 :eekani: on the grid, but would have challenged Alonso for the race win had he not been given a -10 grid penalty due to an engine failure :groan:
McLaren's bad luck in 2005:
Imola - Pole position for Raikkonen and the Finn opened a sizable lead over 2nd placed Alonso by lap 9 before a driveshaft failure ruined what would have been a great weekend for him
Catalunya - A refuelling rig failure caused JPM to make an extra pit stop and McLaren lost a potential podium finish
Monaco - JPM was hit with a -10 grid penalty for an accident in practice cooked up by the race stewards, though Juancho drove superb race to finish 5th from the back of the grid :proud: JPM was robbed of a possible podium finish
Nurburging - Raikkonen's last lap suspension failure when he was on course for a race victory :fero: Nuff said  And JPM's race was screwed by Mark Webber when the Aussie took out Juancho (who was in 3rd place) at the first corner in Lap 1 :fero: JPM had to fight his way back to finish in 7th place from the back
Montreal - JPM & Kimi were on course for a 1-2 finish and had a 30+ second lead over 3rd place Jenson Button, before the Brit crashed and the Safety Car ate up the lead of the McLaren drivers :eyepatch: Montoya was then given a dubious Black Flag for exiting the pit lane when the red lights were on, another incident cooked up by the race stewards :fero:
Nonetheless, I'm confident the Silver Knights will bounce back in their home race at Silverstone next week  It's a track where Kimi, JPM and McLaren have always excelled on
A Spanish speaking driver finished top of the podium and it's not Alonso :D Just as I expected, the Silver Knights dominated their home race at Silverstone and if not for another grid penalty for Raikkonen could easily have taken a 1-2 finish :irritate:
Superb start by Montoya taking the outside line under-breaking into Copse before pushing on the throttle early and taking lead from Alonso going into Becketts :proud: Obi-Juan simply controlled the race from then on and even with Alonso cutting his lead to just a little over 1 second at one stage, never looked in danger of losing his 1st position.
Kimi again got stuck behind traffic today :irritate: but drove another marvellous race, coupled with a slice of good luck with Fisichella stalling in the pits on his 2nd pit stop  and scored a much needed podium finish both for him and McLaren.
Great gesture from the podium finishers for not celebrating with the customary champagne spraying after what happened in London few days before the race :star:
McLaren won at their home race, and the next race at Hockenheim is Mercedes' home race. Obi-Juan absolutely loves that circuit (He won by almost a lap over 2nd place DC in 2003 :eekani: ) and with the monkey now off his back, I expect another stellar performance from him in a fortnight :hopefull:

Qualifying Report: Kimi triumphs while others falter
After an error-strewn qualifying session, McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen will start from pole position in the Turkish Grand Prix.
Renault duo Giancarlo Fisichella and Fernando Alonso are next on the grid after Jenson Button, Ralf Schumacher and Michael Schumacher all ruined promising laps with off-track excursions.
Biggest winner was Juan Montoya, who despite qualifying early, claimed an impressive P4. The loser was Takuma Sato who ruined both his own lap and slowed Mark Webber's.
Qualifying report: Most of the runners had gone for harder, more durable tyre compounds to cope with the new track and the demands of the high speed and hugely challenging Turn 8, which would put a lot of pressure on the right front tyre in the race.
And so the challenge was to go fast on the outlap to get heat into the tyres. The ambient was 29C and the track was only 42C, much lower than expected by the teams and the tyre companies.
David Coulthard in the Red Bull was cautious through Turn 8 and ended up posting a slow 1:29.764 – his car hampered by the very dusty track conditions.
“It wasn’t wonderful,” said DC afterwards. “I got wide in 8 and 9 and I lost a lot of time there. The really tricky thing is the amount of bumps, when it unloads over those it can get interesting.”
Red Bull team-mate Christian Klien was out next and managed a much better 1:28.963, a massive eight tenths quicker than Coulthard. When qualifying finished, though, there was only one car in the gap between himself and DC.
Robert Dornbos had got the better of Minardi team-mate Cristijan Albers so far but had a couple of lock-ups on his hot lap. There was clearly something off with the braking of the Minardi as he was over six seconds down on Klien’s time before the end of the lap. He dived down the pitlane and his rear brakes promptly caught on fire.
Next up McLaren’s Juan-Pablo Montoya put in a 1:27.352 – (1.6 quicker than Klien) Though he’s been quicker than Raikkonen during the weekend, there have been small errors creeping in.
“The early slot will probably cost me 5 or 6 places on the grid,” said Juan halfway through the session. “It’s tough, but I’m happy I’ve got a good race car.”
As it turned out, it was a lot better than he thought it was going to be.
Jacques Villeneuve lost control of his Sauber on the way through the tricky Turn 8. The car twitched wide onto the bright green run-off, and rather than run all the way along the run-off JV decided to try and get it back on the track straight away. He looked to have successfully regained the track, but then the car twitched again and slewed sideways across the track to a halt. The steering wheel was levered off and Jacques was out of the car – the anti-stall seemingly not working. Ironically earlier in the weekend Jacques had said, “I believe Turn 8 is the best corner in F1”
After Villeneuve’s car was recovered Minardi’s Cristijan Albers was allowed out again and there was no brake problem to be seen. 1:32.186 for the Dutchman.
Felipe Massa in the second Sauber had no problem in Turn 8, but finished a whole second down on Montoya’s time – 1:28.419 for the Brazilian, which would end up as a highly promising P8.
Tiago Monteiro (P15) showed that Jordan have got a distinct edge on Minardi in the back-of-the-grid battle, a 1:30.710 for the Portuguse. Team-mate Narain Karthikeyan had received a new engine and so toured round on a parade lap without setting a time and promptly stopped in the middle of the pitlane.
Renault’s Fernando Alonso was starting qualifying much earlier than he would have liked but despite running slightly wide in Turn 12 got ahead of Montoya’s time to give him provisional pole of 1:27.050. But there were still a lot of drivers to come.
Rubens Barrichello (P11), watched by Jean Todt in his Ferrari jumper (for those taking an interest) was not quick. Bridgestone weren’t able to bring the softer tyres that they used in Hockenheim and Budapest and so Ferrari times have suffered as a result. Rubens’ 1:29.369 was back between the two Red Bulls.
Giancarlo Fisichella was behind Renault team-mate Alonso’s time coming into the final sector, but managed the final segment of the race track two-tenths quicker. His 1:27.039 took provisional pole.
Under-pressure Takuma Sato needed a good lap in Turkey, but he didn’t manage to keep his car on the island through Turn 8 and swept onto the run-off. Unlike Villeneuve he went further out wide and regained the track without problem, but his lap was done for. He crossed the line with a 1:30.175. To make matters worse he didn’t get back to the pits quick enough.
BMW-Williams’ Mark Webber (P7) looked like he was having a good lap until he came across Takuma Sato in the place on the circuit he wanted to be. It looked like it made Mark take a tighter than he would have wanted and lost him a couple of tenths.
“What was Sato doing, for xxxx’s sake? Mark asked on the radio.
“I didn’t have update on the radio; (of Webber’s position) by the time I realised it was too late,” explained Taku afterwards. Though blaming the team for not telling him is probably not the best tactic for him right now.
Nick Heidfeld in the second BMW-Williams was only a fraction ahead of Webber by the end of his lap 1:27.929 for the German and P6.
Jenson Button (P13) was ahead of everyone in Sector 1 but like his team-mate couldn’t get Turn 8 right. He got through the first part of the corner with a flicked correction, but clipped the inside kerb in the second part, unsettled the car which then ran wide and got his tyres dirty on the verge. He also made a mess of Turn 9. A dreadful 1:30.063 for the Brit.
Jarno Trulli was only fractions behind Fisichella’s fastest time until the last two corners, which he didn’t hook up particularly well. It dropped him to P4 as he crossed the line with a 1:27.501 and P5 when the session finished.
Ralf Schumacher (P9) in the second Toyota made it through the perilous Turn 8 but he missed the apex and ran wide in Turn 9 and onto the run-off. The small detour cost him and he finished with a 1:28.594 - a whole second behind Trulli.
Brother Michael had a task on his hands to qualify well with his underperforming Bridgestone tyres. He’d gone off in Turn 8 in the morning and managed it this time with no problems. However, like his brother he got caught out in Turn 9 when the car suddenly swapped ends much to the amusement of the Turkish crowd. Michael came back into the pits without setting a lap time.
Finally it was time for Kimi Raikkonen to put his McLaren on pole. It seemed to be his for the taking with the fastest car of the weekend and the circuit at its most rubbered-in. The Finn took his car very near to the edges of Turn 8 but held it all together, and took a wary line through Turn 9.
He crossed the line with a 1:26.797, not a country mile ahead of Fisichella in P2, but importantly on the clean line at the start.
It had been a dramatic first qualifying session for the first Turkish Grand Prix. Hermann Tilke had set out to challenge F1 drivers with his new track and he had certainly achieved his aims, with Villeneuve, Sato, Button and both Schumachers all falling victim.
There will surely be more upsets to come in the race on Sunday.

Saturday wrap-up: McLaren & Renault
McLaren & Renault review Saturday's qualifying for the Turkish GP...
McLaren
Kimi Raikkonen 1st: I'm pleased to claim the first pole position for Formula 1 in Turkey. The lap was good but not perfect, and I lost a little bit of time in the last sector, but I knew I had some time in hand. We had made some changes to the car overnight and everything worked really well during practice this morning, so we knew we would have a strong chance for pole if everything went well. The circuit is great – it's so different from many of the others – especially with the ups and downs. It will be a tough race tomorrow, but I am really looking forward to it. We have a lot to fight for and hopefully we will be able to get the results we need and also put on a good show for the many Turkish spectators who will experience Formula 1 live for the first time
Juan Pablo Montoya 4th: My qualifying lap was OK, but I know my time would have been so much better if I had done it later in the session. The car is working well and I have been strong in all sessions so far this weekend. The track is great and good fun to drive particularly when you have a competitive package and everything just comes together. There is no reason why I can't be strong in the race
Renault
Giancarlo Fisichella 2nd: It is great to be on the front row for tomorrow’s race. We have worked hard this weekend to get a good set-up on the car, and the team has done a great job, which you can see from the grid positions. The only problem with my lap was when I came up on Barrichello at the end – we were very close through turns 12 and 13, and it disrupted my concentration, costing me a couple of tenths. Everything else went well though, so I am very positive for tomorrow.
Fernando Alonso 3rd: The conditions were much windier this afternoon than we had in practice, and we saw that it was a difficult qualifying session for all the drivers as lots of people went off. In that situation, you have to take the gamble of either taking some risks, or being conservative: I pushed hard and came through OK, so it is great to be third, on the clean side of the grid. The wind actually surprised me a little bit down the back straight – it was a strong tailwind, and I braked at my normal point but missed the apex, which cost me some time. We have both cars in the top three and I will go into the race with the aim of trying to beat Kimi.
Wrap-up for the top 4 cars on the grid  :proud: So why bother reading other wrap-ups for the other teams now :D
Monty qualified 4th despite being out in the qualifying session early :eekani: McLaren are looking strong all weekend and it could well be a McLaren 1-2 tomorrow :hopefull:

kimi should walke away with this race, motoya will be second, as long as their mclarens don't disentegrate, alonso will probably beat ou fisichella for fourth.
ferrari did not have such a great day, barrichello, nearly 3 seconds off the lead, and schumi span off whilst looking good for a top 6 quali spot, hopefully they'll provide some enternaitment through the race.
as for the new race track, turn 8 is amazing, its up there with eau rouge, bracketts and all the other great corners on the other f1 circuits. i'm looking forward to a great race tomorrow.

i think istanbul was great :D
Finally Nandito Alonso Diaz won it.
Schumi should retire, if he do not want a bigger put-down :( And Nando should take his place.
Massa is coming next year, substitution for Rubinho. I have heard some rumours that Rossi is ready to take F1 challenge in Scuderia Ferrari.

I feel like I am going to be bashed for being a Ferrari fan. I want Raikkonen to race for Ferrari in the future,so I hope the rumors turn out to be right

And now McLaren lost the WCC at the last race
To be honest, both McLarens looked off pace today :dazed: and were further delayed at the start when Fisi played a good team game by holding up the silver cars behind him by cruising in 2nd place :notlist: :irritate:
When Monty had to retire after damaging his car by hitting a loose drain cover on the kerb, it very much sums up McLaren's rotten luck all season :depress:
Not a great race in terms of overall excitement, though it can be said that the Chinese racing gods don't like Schumi :howler: Just when you thought it was bad for him last year, it got worse when Schumi got involved in an accident with Albers before the race :lala: and later spun out of the race into retirement while following the safety car :D
Congratulations to Renault for a job well done :star: Championships are won not just with the fastest cars, but cars which can finish races. Alonso showed the pace and ability of a World Champion today by leading from start to finish
Well, there's always next year :D

Dont worry , Kimi and Juan Pablo are the best drivers of this moment only that the McLaren wasn't very good at the first races of the season, but be shure that with Alonso's car Kimi would have win the double of races he wonand he would have win the championship two races earlyer than Alonso.

Bahrain will kick-off the 19-race 2006 season
Formula One bosses have confirmed a 19-race calendar for next season, starting in Bahrain.
The sport's commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone concluded weeks of frantic negotiations by submitting a draft calendar to world governing body the FIA, who have now released it as a provisional schedule.
Despite objections from some team bosses, the calendar will continue to feature 19 races.
The first grand prix comes in Bahrain on March 12, with Australia losing its coveted season-opening slot due to a clash with the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Malaysia follows just a week later before the trip to Melbourne on April 2.
Britain's grand prix at Silverstone is moved from its traditional July slot to a June 11 date, which clashes with the first Sunday of the World Cup finals.
The World Cup finals, as well as the Commonwealth Games, have made life tricky for Ecclestone in deciding next season's schedule.
The traditional order of races has been shaken up to put back the North American races in Montreal and Indianapolis, meaning they occur as the World Cup is reaching a climax.
However, that spares European races from a potentially-damaging clash with one of only two sporting events bigger than Formula One.
As a consequence, the French Grand Prix will take place later than usual on July 16, followed two weeks later by the German race.
The calendar announcement confirmed the widely-known failure of Mexican officials to secure a grand prix in Cancun. Ecclestone had signed a deal with Mexico and booked a third North American date but the track has not been built and no race will take place in 2006.
Despite worries over the future of Formula One in the United States after the Indianapolis tyre fiasco this year, that race remains and is given the prestigious Independence Day weekend date.
After Shanghai hosted the final race of this season, the calendar reverts to Interlagos in Brazil as its final stop, on October 22. However, the Sao Paulo date is listed "subject to contract approval".
As well as confirming the 2006 calendar, the FIA's world motorsport council also ratified plans to change the qualifying system for next year.
Agreement was already reached on Monday between the sport's key players but the changes needed official approval, which has now been granted.
Under the new system, two 15-minute sessions will see the five slowest cars eliminated after each session before a 20-minute shoot-out to determine the top 10.
Among the other rule changes agreed by the Formula One commission in London and now confirmed were the return of tyre changes after a one-year absence and the introduction of a new rear wing in 2007, designed to increase overtaking.

Sh!te. I was so happy to get up early in the morning [4 am] to watch opening GP of F1 season in Australia. And now what?! Bahrein.... hrrr... that is fvckin irritating.
F1 is back! Ferrari too!!! :5ok: Both Schumi and Massa occupied the first starting grid :bri: And Raikkonen is the last due to crash in qualification :grinser:
Forza Schumi
Forza Ferrari
It was a very interesting race in Bahrain i hope this season will be more interesting then the previous.
It was a very tight race till the end but Alonso won it, and it's a pity that Massa didn't get any points but this weekend Formula 1 goes to Malaysia so there's a chance for Ferrari to get the first win of the season
FORZA FERRARI

Accept it or not kimi is the best driver in the circuit, he could have been the youngest world champion 2 years ago. he probably has the worst luck after ayrton senna. he has amazing mp4-21a but sometimes it just doesn't work. if mclaren resolve their engine problems the car will be unbeatable. if the mp4 21 is in its best condition the can win any race starting from 20 pos.
Kimi can easily kick that alonso who contrastingly is one of the luckiest drivers. last year kimi had three blown engines while leading the races because of which he lost the championship. kimi and pedro dela rosa can kick any team's a$$ be it the renault or ferrari!
Kimi is the boss. On his day he is unbeatable! i hope he has some luck this year and win the championships!

Though I am not a big fan of his, I believe that Fernando Alonso is currently the best driver on the grid, and he has 2 WDC's at the moment
F1 is probably the worst sport in the worl today :bri: u call it a sport???? A man risking his life in a machine and whats the point of calling som one as th best driver???? :stupid: The better engine u have, the faster u move, its as simple as that :bri:

I agree with zeekay on this point.
It would be interesting to see all the cars having the same specs meaning only the driver's skill would determine positions.

Plus what the point of two drivers of the same team going against for each other for the best driver spot :stupid: its just like Kaka not passing to Giladinho bcoz he would win if scored.
Off topic
Jamie, I must say ur current avator is 1000 times more good looking than the previous one :5ok:

So how come Michael has won in that crappy Ferrari F2003-GA against the faster and more reliable Williams FW25 in 2003? Or how is it that Raikkonen lost the 2005 WDC to Alonso with his much faster MP4/20?? It's not only the speed...Driver involvement and relability also have a lot to do with it!!!
actually raikkonen lost to alonso in 2005 because of those silly regulations and something called "luck"
this season we have a better champ'ship with 3 drivers to win the wdc.
I rarely follow F1 sice Schummy had left. Just want to say 2 things:
1. Congratulations Kimi
2. Next year better Lewis

not a big fan of formula 1, but can anyone tell me who races for italy?
not a big fan of formula 1, but can anyone tell me who races for italy?
most of the Ferrari crews I think, plus one McLaren's... :respect:
There are 3 Italian drivers in F1:
Giancarlo Fisichella - Renault
Jarno Trulli - Toyota
Vitantonio Liuzzi - Toro Rosso
Wonder who Alonso will end up driving for next season.
I heard it might be Ferrari, though i guess he could surprise everyone and stay where he is.

You beleive that? After all the drama him and Lewis went through?
Even that guy from Mclaren said that Alonso will probably have to move on, I would like to see him at Renault again.

no i don't think he'll stay, but it's a possibility however remote.
