They say noone can be sure about Ancelotti leaving because , like we've seen in previous years, he survived on Milan bench even when the team didn't win anything. Still, chances for him to leave are big and there are 2 men who could replace him. Lippi , who was also connected to Juve, but since yesterday Deschamps was confirmed as Juventus' coach for next year also, there's no chance for Lippi to join Juve. If Lippi comes to Milan then most probably he'll take Fabbio Cannavaro with him whom he coached in Napoli 15 years ago. If Ancelotti goes to Spain then he'll probably replace one of Rijkaard or Capello. It's not likely for Capello to take over Milan but Rijkaard is an option. He has a house in Milano and he'll take Zambrotta with him to AC Milan. The guy who wrote this article has one theory and it goes like this : Mourinho will leave Chelsea and will be replaced by Mancini. Ancelotti will go to Spain and take over one of the 2 big Spanish clubs while Mourinho may take over the other spanish club. Two of Lippi, Rijkaard and Capello will go to Milano. One of them in Inter one in Milan.

I started translating it word by word but i stopped at : "exactly : Ancelotti's silence". It would have taken half an hour at least and i have other things to do, like following NBA and being nervous about SA losing from Milwaukee ![]()

Btw, Zlat ,
what's your opinion on this : "Roberto Bettega was in London yesterday where he had lunch with Steve Kutner, Frank Lampard's agent" ( Gazzetta dello Sport) And he flew to London 1 day after Juve's Board of Directors voted extra £71.6m increase in capital to help reinforce the club !

.But he is indeed an option - a quality player who'd be available at a bargain price if Chelski fail to renew his contract ... whether he would make it in Italy, that's another story. I personally think he has the techique and football intelligence to make it but I also have my reservations regarding how successful he would be able to deal with the tighter midfield and defenses in Italy. Also, that ~105 mil euros (71-72 mil BP) of increase in capital that Juve is planning, that inludes 60 mil euros from the major shareholder at Juve - IFIL -, which money will be used to ballance the books/accounts and subscribe Juve to Serie A. The restof the money - 40-45 mil euros, coming from the minority of the shareholders, is what will be used for transfers. 40-45 mil is a considerable amount of money but given the big investments Juve will have to make, the managers should be spend it very, very wisely otherwise they might find out that it's very easy to see the end of it, if one looses sight of what's a necessity and what's luxury.

But there are 2 important things that shouldn't be forgotten : 1. The money Juve had palnned for transfers before the increase ( 35m Eur according to most of the sources, and 57m Eur according to Tuttosport )aren't included in these 105m Eur , so Juve has 35+42 (14x3 years) millions for transfers = 77m Euro for transfers.2. These 77m Eur are to be spent in 3 years, but we all know that you can buy a player for 20m eur and pay him on a 3-4-5 year rate. So Juve can buy players for 77m Eur this summer and pay them on a 3 year rate. It's gonna be the most interesting mercato we've seen, i'm sure about it. Both Milan and Juve need new players and it seems both teams have the money and plan to spend them all on new players. I can't wait for June to come !

Tony, I believe the 35 or so mil that Juve EXPECTED to have at their disposal for transfers came namely from these plans of the board to raise the club capital.
that money - the 35 mil - were simply the expected result of these financial operation, Juve did not have that 35 mil in the form of pure cash in some bank account ... and now that the plans seem to have been put in motion, the previous estimate of 35 mil was raised to 40-45 mil, although today I read somewhere (calciomercato maybe) that it might be not 60 but 70-75 mil that would go for account balancing and Serie A fees ... so, in that case, Juve would be left with exactly what they thought they would have a week or so ago - 35 mil.

Actually, big % ( i think about 90%) of those 35m are the second rate Inter, Barcelona and Real were to pay for Zambro, Zlatan, Canna, Thuram, Vieira and Emerson. There were even speculations that Juve is in poll position for some of these players ( Canna, Zambro, Emo) just because of that. Instead of selling them much more cheaply than they got them, Real and Barcelona would prefer to give them "for free" to Juve and not be obligated to pay the other 2 rates. I have no idea how will things work but all Blanc, Secco, Deschamps and Del Piero said how Juve can now finally be strong at transfer market so i thought they really have much more than 35m

I for one, hope Lippi never coaches Milan, and I dont see Berlu going for his "type" of game...defend at all costs, and attack only when necessary.
Dont get me wrong...I think he is a good coach, and he did win the world cup..so there is no denying he knows what he is about...its just that I rarely enjoy seeing the "brand" of football his teams play. Then again, he could be, under the "influence" of Berlu, "forced" to play more attacking...who knos?

i dont think Ancelloti played that entertaining football before he came to milan, i think Lippi would be under alot of pressure to play attacking games.
But to be honest, i rather win alot of silverware than play entertaining football. Its just nice if they combine the two! The alternatives to Lippi dont seem that great, well rijkaard is good, but barca seemed alot better when Henk ten Cate was there.. so im not convinced

He's the best tactician in the world and it's normal in modern footbal to put big attention to defense, but unlike Capello or Mourinho, Lippi cares about attack as much as he cares about defending. It takes just a minute to check the results of his teams and you'll see that all the teams he was coaching were the best, or among top 3 best scoring teams in serie A, Champions League or World Cup. The way he has beaten one legend like Sacchi 6:1 at San Siro, the way he destroyed PSG 9:2 on agg in European super cup in 1996 , the way his team set a CL record by beating Olympiacos 7:0 in 2003, and the times his teams scored 4 or 5 goals in one match is a proof enough. Quote:
.His results since 1994/95 when he took over Juventus : 1994/95 - won serie A , won Coppa Italia, runner-up in Coppa UEFA 1995/96 - 2nd place in Serie A , WON CL , won Italian super cup, won european super cup 1996/97 - won serie A , runner-up in CL, won Toyota Cup 1997/98 - won serie A , runner-up in CL , won Italian super cup 1998/99 - left Juve at half season at 6th place, and took Juve to CL 1/4 before he left. 1999/00 - 4th place in serie A with Inter , Coppa Italia runner-up 2000/01 - wasn't coaching a team 2001/02 - won serie A with Juve , Coppa Italia runner-up, CL last 16 2002/03 - won serie A with Juve, runner-up in CL, won Italian super Cup. 2003/04 - 3rd place in serie A , last 16 in CL, won Italian super cup, Coppa Italia runner-up. 2004/05 - took over Italian National Team and won the qualifying group without problems 2005/06 - Won FIFA World Cup There's no coach atm who's even close to Marcello Lippi when we talk about the number of titles won and finals played . Quote:
If Berlu thinks he can tell someone like Lippi how to play and what tactics to use then Berlu can take over his place and he won't have to give millions of dollars to managers. Also, Marcello Lippi has a huge renome , he's almost 60 years old and he would never accept Berlusconi to tell him how to do his job.

Thanks for the clarification Tony! I appreciate when someone takes the time to prove my thinking as being incorrect.
I stand corrected. Bring on Signori Lippi!!! ![]() Though, in truth, the data above begs the question: How many of his scudetti were Moggi influenced? When he went to Inter, he didnt do that well now did he? (Can anyone recall the "Moggi told us we would win" banner Italian fans held up during one Azzuri training session?) ![]() Suffice it to say, if he plays attacking football, (and Tony, I will take the results, and data you have posted at face value, above my recollections of a boring Juve under his watch), then I have no issues with him at Milan. Its just that changing coaches isnt something I take lightly, (unless its replacing Zaccerphony) and as such, there is some trepidation for me, in facing this change.

I personally like Lippi very much. I would hate to see Ancelotti go, but I wouldn't mind him leaving as long as it is Lippi who is the replacement.
Similarly, I would hate to see Dida leave, unless Buffon is the new purchase. That does not apply to Kaka'-Ronaldinho case. I wouldn't mind Ronaldinho coming, but in no way will I let Kaka' go.

Would Berlusconi employ someone like Lippi who he knows won't bow as easily to his demands?
