Character building, I think, comes from two sources:

1) Resilience: is he, as an individual, resilient enough to come out of difficult moment, like a man going through a 'crucible'? Gila is going through one now, and I wonder if he will succeed.

2) Social environment: Is Milan supportive? Playing him in actual game will help, but it's not the only way. How is the enviornment during training? is it forgiving, or is it very critical that people can never make mistakes all the time?

It's sad, cause, really, I think our defense has been solid through out all their games but...there's this moment, when we get a lapse of concentration and our opponents get it right, they score in that particular moment. Overall good, but what is it worth if for a minute you lose concentration (and even worse you all lose it together)?

We are in this particular moment when confidence is low. That's why the moment player a gets owned by an opponent, the rest are also incapable of reacting. Same goes in the attacking part of our game.

I believe the game vs Palermo didn't help at all, a game you basically have in your hands, and because of many reasons that shouldn't have been, you lose it in the last minute...it hits you hard. I hope the best for Sunday, but don't be surprised if we don't make it either (though Lazio seems to enjoy missing chances too).

Well then the question is how you are going to get out from trouble, because otherwise it sounds like it's going to be a vicious cycle.

But Milan CAN get out of trouble. It has shown us many times (last year, the year when Shevchenko was out for a long time and leaving us with only Inzaghi etc., the year we lost the CL to Liverpool...

It's not a matter of capability. It's a matter of desire.

I don't know how bad he attacked Dida but crossing the field and making this moovement is unexpectable, even hear that we have fights in CL games no one gets into field........

Don't worry, I still believe in our team comming back and giving a worthy Milan fight (as dissapointed as I am, in this particular moment, the team needs us behind them to gain their confidence back, we are the main source of that confidence!!!).

I usually read on this forum on matchdays, but never bothered to register until now. I just had to comment the panic alot of people in here have when things dont go our way, and it seems it picked up a nod today.

Firing the most successful coach in Europe over the last 5 years cause of a bad start to the season? It just lacks long term thinking, as Ancelotti has alot of great qualities we will most likely never find in a new coach. Remember how he risked his own health (busted his knees for the club) playing for the club? Remember how much joy he has given us the years he's been in charge? If 2 losses and 3 draws is all it takes for you to forget it, then I would just call it ungreatful. Sure he's not perfect, no coach is, but he's world class in every way, and a big part of the Milan family that we all(?) love to see.

Why are you all bashing on Gourcuff for every little mistake he makes? He didn't play bad today, he actually was maybe the best attacking force we had, even if he didn't make a shot he should've and did hold up the ball a bit too much at some points. Yes, he made a costly defensive error, but we are talking about a huge talent here who is good enough to play regularly for us, but only get's some minutes in a match like this where he hasnt gotten any trust before and we are having problems. A player that lacks match practice will make lack-of-confidence errors like not making a shot. You want him to get better he has to play regularly! Ancelotti should stop trying to use the stupid Pippo - Gilardino mix up top (like vs Catania) and instead put Gourcuff in with Kaka and Seedorf on the mid. All those comments about this is why he doesn't get any minutes just pisses me off, and just shows lack of understanding how football players work (especially young talents). If you expect perfection from players on the pitch, go bash on the experienced indispensible players that are suppose to be the backbone of the team, cause they are surely making at least as many mistakes as the young Gourcuff.

Also I don't think you all understand the financial situation in Milan currently. I assume alot of you still think that Berlusconi is free to spend his millions on Milan and is just too cheap to do so. The facts though, is that Berlusconi can't invest his money in the team due to political reasons. I can't really explain why, but for those that are very interested should try to get someone who lives in Italy explain it, and you might want to set aside alot of time, cause politics in Italy is a mess in alot of ways. So basically Milan is forced to keep going on their own money, which isn't that much. We had a few million euros (3-4 I believe) of profit last season, which was due to the sale of Sheva. So the conclusion is we cant go on spending sprees like Real Madrid, but have to make smart moves for the right players. We shall see if Pato and Emerson was smart purchases in the future. But dont judge too soon...

Milan has been through rough times before, and we will have rough times again. Remember the gloomy late 90s where we were close to relegation? It feels like a lifetime ago, but it really isnt. So maybe we don't win anything else this season (remember the Super Cup, its not a completely useless trophy!), thats football for you. But this is not the time to lose faith. We are still reasonable positioned both in the Scudetto race and in the CL, and as always Ancelotti has aimed our pre-season to spike in the top shape in the later stages of the season, NOT now. This is one of the reasons we are Campioni d'Europa! Have faith, support the team and start talking about selling/buying players or firing Ancelotti in January (or preferably next summer).

It's good to be critical, but don't take it too far.

i honestly felt we played better today than we had in some of those 1-1 draws in serie a. i'ma take positives from this despite the end result.

i support this team regardless of where we are in the standings, i don't whine like a baby. it's out of my hands. management clearly knows there's a problem and they'll do what they have to do to fix it like they always do. be positive, it's not the end of the world. we got a lil unlucky today, so what? if you only support milan when they win, then you might as well go support inter.

i think it's kinda hilarious and sad at the same time cuz i remember readin y'all crackin jokes on inter's reaction to the 5-0 friendly against barca, but y'all do the same exact thing when push comes to shove..[/end rant]

FORZA MILAN!

I think this and the Catania game would be a wake up call for the players and coaching staff and after the international break, with Ronaldo and Paolo most likely back in the group, the mood will change and it will show on the field.
This is not the first time Milan is asked to go thru difficult moments and I am sure they will cope with this one too.
I think this is going to be key to our successes this year. Ronaldo oozes confidence up front and he adds a dimension to the game which works miracles in our attack. Maldini on the other hand is the one player who drives and urges the others on (more than anyone in our squad imo), and his defensive leadership is desperately needed right now.

How do you know Dida faked it? I admit it didn't look like much of an attack, but the fact he had to be substituted off (note our players immediately turned to the bench and signalled for a sub when they saw him) means there's a good chance there was more to it than what we saw.

This result shows and the start of the season show that the calciopoly just hid the fact that we arent competetive enough in the league and to an extent the champions league, our club seem to be obsessed with the world club championship which really does not mean anthing to supporters, the league and champions league is what counts and galliani said after game "Nonetheless, the Vice-President is confident Milan can turn the situation around, especially with the Intercontinental competition coming up in December.

“We remain calm and I think we have the potential to do really well, especially if Ronaldo returns from injury and can give Inzaghi a breather. We also have Alexandre Pato ready to come in after Christmas."

The thing is by december at this rate will be out of contention for serie a and champions requires fortune not just skill so we could end up trpohy less. very frustrating indeed , we need fresh players simple as that

Dev and Jeff, thanks for those posts guys. I needed it.

Lot's of emotions flying tonight. Hello, everyone and welcome to football.

It's been a miserable day, but I saw something in Gila today that brings me hope. Let me be the second (after Dev) to say, play him this weekend Carlo.

I saw an interview before the game with Kaka where he said: "When things don't depend on me, at those moments I pray to God and say this is in your hands...but when things depend on me, I do all that's in my power to make things happen."

Well, things aren't to the point where it's soley up to Shiva or Jesus or Allah yet, this thing is still in the players hands. We will rise up, and we will make things happen for us.

Exactly why I don't totally believe it was him faking it. Maybe exagerated, but we don't exactly get a good camera shot on what happened there, he could have been cut, or maybe got a terrible buzz in his ear, or maybe the Celtic fan knows how to do big damage with just his hand (if he put his finger in Dida's throat...I understand Dida completly, it's a horrendous feeling).

Though just like Gila's dive last february, had he fallen down seconds before no one would have been talking.
