I think you got confused and you're talking about CL 2003 final when he saved 2 penalties.
At the WC final he didn't save a single penalty, just like Barthez on the other side. Italians won the penalty shoot-out because Trezeguet hit the post, not because of Gigi's saves.

That is correct, Tony. I am truly sorry, I have memory lapses every now and then.

I did not mix it up with CL 2003 though.

Buffon for me however is one of the top 3 PK takers in the world and he has been ever since his Parma days.

Buffon was the best player in the world in 2006.

Cannavaro got it because he was number two and it was his destiny and not Gigi's.

Buffon is not a good penalty saver just like Cech...d good ones these days r usually GK's who r inconsistent like Dida, Reina, Dudek, Lehmann etc.

As a Dane I am content with the possibility of Kasper moving to Barca. It is a great shoulderclap for him to be considered for the second biggest team in Spain.

As a Milanista I am torn. Why is Berlusconi not buying Kasper now when he has the chance? He is everything we need! He is 20 years old, makes the saves all Milanisti are claiming Dida does not make. And with a little careful Italian goalkeeping training from our red and black experts he will with his ebullience shine like a bright star and form a deadly last end for a brutal Milan side that can write yet another chapter in history.

I often wonder why Cudicini is happy sitting on the bench at chelsea, i think he would be a soultion for 2-3 years but i s'pose the london life suits him

I was just thinking about Cudicini today when I watched Fulham-Chelsea (first game of the year YAY), and it struck me how bad a keeper he really is.

Better than Dida though.

Buffon has perfect technique for a goalie. I'm going as far as saying if he moved to Milan (and can let the world see what serie a fans witness week in week out) he can become the best in history.
I rated him highly but, guys, this guy consistently wins games alone! He defended a WC almost singlehandedly (despite the other defenders great performances)!!!!!

Ancelotti Issues Ultimatum To Dida Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti seems to have almost lost his patience with goalkeeper Nelson Dida as he warned him that another mistake could cost him the number one spot in the team.

The Brazilian shot-stopper has had a disastrous season so far, making a huge catalogue of errors.

The most recent came in the 2-1 derby defeat to Inter before Christmas, when Dida somehow allowed a scuffed shot from Esteban Cambiasso to go through him.

"Dida has my confidence. Others have committed errors this season,” said Ancelotti.

"However I also know that I have Zeljko Kalac, who is ready and willing."

The Italian press firmly believe that Milan are ready to ditch Dida but due to the lack of viable alternatives available in the January transfer window they will stick with him until the end of the season.

Second-choice goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac has hardly crowned himself in glory either in the past and he was at fault for Fabrizio Miccoli’s last-minute winner when Milan played Palermo earlier in the season.

The favourites to replace Dida in the summer include Celtic’s Artur Boruc and Fiorentina’s Sebastien Frey.

Milan’s first match of 2008 is at home to Napoli next weekend.
