If I were from Zenith, I would refuse that lol ...
Anyway, I'm not from there but I have doubts about:
- Zenith accepting this kind of transfers lol
- Our club giving 2 players + cash for one player

I guess we indeed need a first class attacking midfielder, cause Seedorf has already past it's prime.

you guys often think these players are like objects, what makes you think Emerson ans Simic would want to go there?

Arshavin is great, absolutely world-class, but as Giovanni said - he is not really what we are looking for. He also is Non-EU. Right now the only player at the Euro's that is worth that Non-EU spot is his team mate - Zhurkov. He has the characterstics that we need for a fullback, he is the equivalent of Dani Alves but on the left flank. It would be nice to get Zhurkov, Dinho (who I would pick ahead of Arshavin) and another strong striker.

Comon Berlusconi, it's time to flex your muscles.

I'm a crappy negotiator and hence this is why I'm not in charge lol. But hey perhaps Seedorf and some cash...

You know it's totally not the same but with the Borriello deal, we gave 10 million plus Davide Di Gennaro to Genoa... so a player+cash is something Milan has done in the past. Maybe not with two players... but Arshavin is a hot player right now.

and for those who say he is not the player we need, I challenge you. Why? We had problems in the attacking portion of our midfield... and Arshavin could easily play as a second striker...

A lot depends on Zenit and if they want to sell their players. If they do then Milan, in case they are really interested, will certainly be strong candidates to get Arshavin or someone else from Zenit.

But i don't really know Zenit's plans.
For the first time in their history they will be playing CL this year. They don't need to play qualifications, they go directly to group stages. As we've seen in UEFA (and how they destroyed Bayern even without Arshavin) they have a really strong group of players. Arshavin, Zyryanov, Shirokov, Malafeev and Anyukov are part of the Russian team at the EURO. Then there is Pogrebnyak, UEFA Cup's topscorer and best attacker in Russia who is now injured (luckily for Pavlyuchenko) and missed the euro. The ukrainian star Tymoschuk, Argentinian Domínguez and few more international players make a really strong unit.
My guess is that Zenit will try to do what Porto did in 2003 after they won UEFA Cup. They'll try to keep their best players and try to win the CL.
I know it seems impossible but it's a strong team with a great Dutch coach (Dik Advocaat) sponsored by Gazprom who are ready to invest huge money this summer.
I really think that Zenit wouldn't like to sell Arshavin.

So i guess it's up to Arshavin. If he wants to go then they will sell him but if the player wants to stay (remember that he was born and lived all his life in Sankt Peterburg, Zenit's home town) then there is no chance they sell him.

I hear Advocaat say that it's up to Arshavin and that he may want to leave. Yes, it's totally up to him.

DA: Well, Arshavin is interested in moving to a foreign country. For us it is not so good that this tournament came after the (Russian) championship started because he can show himself and he will definitely do that tomorrow. I hope he will stay.

if milan make a realistic play for arshavin. they will get him. prestige wise there r a handful of teams that compete w/ milan. I read all these things that everton and mancity want him and it makes me laugh.....Arsenal want him too, but they wont pay him. plus any opportunity to screw over wenger i enjoy. Apparently liverpool is not spending big so they r out. And he already rejected barca...So only competition i see is chelsea, real madrid and inter.....and pleasepleaseplease DONT GO TO INTER. Berlu's relationship w/ russia is a plus. Milans reputation of treating players great is a plus. Eastern europeans success at milan and the way some of them (like sheva) have been loved is a huge plus.

In my opinion i'd rather make a big transfer for a player like arshavin and sign an older striker. if we r really short on spending the opportunity to get arshavin i think is worth it more than eto'o or adebayor now. We can make a play for a young striker next year when there is more cash. But if we got arshavin i'd be more than happy to get say... RVN (as real madrid seem to be selling him) and then deal w/ younger one next year

ps whats abramovich's relationship w/ gapzrom? I imagine he'd want to take best russian player

Looks like fans are ready to start voicing their displeasure a little more forcefully. Management is sure to take note of this.

I'm just surprised it hasn't happend sooner.

(It's in Italian but if you use the translator you'll get what's going on here.)

He actually was the owner of Sibneft which is a part of Gazprom now (Zenit's sponsor). However, Oligarchs are not that popular in Russia. I do not see any reason why he wouldn't want a Russian in his side.

Everything aside, I don't think that politics will decide any transfers. It is the contacts of the clubs and willingness of the player which seal the deal. Arshavin will go where he wants to go and Zenit will sell him where they want to sell him. Plain and simple.

I agree about Zhirkov, i was amazed when i first so him play. he is always involved, decent crosses, nice shot. although, he also often screws up, esp when taking free kicks. BUT, how old is he? how much will he cost? does he want to come to milan? can he translate his euro cup form to serie a? Id give it two weeks before he falls off the map, and becomes just another player in the russian league. there are so many things pointin to this being a bad transfer that i cant imagine milan taking the initiative to buy him. i mean hell, it took us like a year to sign GIla and parma is in italy, nvmd going to the russian league and going through the whole ordeal (price, preferences ect) for a player that might just be having a good euro.
