Fair, but the point I try to make is not about Wenger.

The point I try to make is about Carlo Ancelotti. His era is up, he can no longer manage the team (sounds like what is happening to Liverpool's Benetiz to me as well), that's fine. But discrediting Ancelotti like he has never been a good (or more than good) coach is extremely short-sighted and misleading, without taking into account the complexity behind the story (see post 68).

I'm not sure if Ancelotti is already given a set of brilliant players at his disposal when he came (I remember those seasons very well when Milan kept changing coaches from Senior Maldini to Zacchironi to Faith Terim), but that's beyond the scope of the discussion. I'll leave it to the readers to decide whether Carlo is really given a set of brilliant players when he came (and btw, given a set of brilliant players is by no means they will gel together, e.g., Real Madrid).

Cheers,
J

You know, i rarely bash Ancelotti they way some others on this forum like Mrki do. I don't think he's a terrible coach though for me he's not in the same league as Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho and the others. Like you rightly point out, his time is over and even though things have come to a stop, they don't adequately represent his time here.

Having said that, he's been bad for a while now and let's say goodbye to each other before he becomes a hate figure at Milan.

Conspiracy that Inter let Roma win so that Roma can kick Milan out of CL?

Btw, 4th place = no CL?

4th place = extremely hard to get into CL. Not necessarily no CL.

I will not argue that Carlo is a good coach anymore. His records speaks for himself.
IMO, the oppositions in the Serie'A has all known what to expect more or less from Carlo. I only blame the Man for not Evolving with the times. When people are going for 4-5-1, 4-3-3 or smth like that to keep the opponents guessing, Carlo is a forgone conclusion 4-3-2-1 manager against smaller opposition.

The man has to not because he is not a Good coach, He has to go coz he has become predictable. Wish him the best in his future in Chelsea ( i hope ). In the end, the wisest of them all is Billy when he said it was for the best to change coaches every 4-5years.

Billy for the new Coach ! or Leonardo !

Quote:
• Champions Path: The first qualifying round comprises three two-legged ties involving the champions of the countries ranked 48 to 53 in UEFA competition. The winners of those ties progress to the second qualifying round where they are joined by the champions of the 31 countries ranked 16 to 47 (except Liechtenstein). The victorious sides from those 17 ties join the champions from the associations ranked 13 to 15 in the third qualifying round, with the winners of those ten pairings reaching the play-off round. These five play-off ties will take place on a home-and-away basis with the winners qualifying for the UEFA Champions League group stage.

• Best-placed path: The third-placed side from the sixth-ranked member association, plus the runners-up from the associations ranked 7 to 15, start the competition in the third qualifying round. The winners of these five ties progress to the play-off round, where they are joined by the fourth-placed sides from the associations ranked 1 to 3 and the third-placed teams from the associations ranked 4 and 5. The victorious teams from the five play-off ties qualify for the UEFA Champions League group stage.
So we play a random playoff game...against the strongest teams around Europe. The teams in the pool are the teams that progressed from the earlier qualifying rounds + the 4th placed team in Italy Spain and England and a few other strong teams.

Yes..yes exactly.. very mature display. I'm sure everyone's very proud of you. I think you should just ask the mods to ban me instead of wasting time writing rude things on the forum.
Cheers.

Nope, they offer us a new chance ... seriously, we are very lucky: none of our direct opponents for the third place won !! They all drawed, so they took one point, but, better that than 3 points for them ...

But the situation is clear: if we can't improve quickly (injured players coming back), I bet we'll be out of the Top 4 in 2 weeks ... because our opponents are not going to lose points each time we aren't able to win or draw !!

What do you know about Ancelotti that no one else does that gives you the right to brand others glory hunters?

I don't think anyone here thinks that Ancelotti is our only problem and that a quick coaching fix will solve everything. But discrediting the opinion of those who believe that he is not doing an adequate job by resorting to name calling without actually making an argument is ridiculous.

I guess I would just like 2 add my 2 cents to the conversation.

I believe the problem lies mostly with upper management (Galliani & Co) and to a lesser extent the players, and to a less extent Ancelotti.

Milan's upper management should be fired and replaced. They did a horrible job with transfers, selecting the right players to transfer at the right time, Milan Lab failures, etc... I know their hands are, to some extent, tied by finances - they could and should have done a lot better with what they had available. Milan badly need good defenders and we're chasing Beckham?

Ancelotti is overall a very good coach, one of the best, but his time at Milan has passed. Opponents know his style and formation. He's the most predictable coach ever with formation, style, substitutions, etc. He just sticks to his existing formation and players even when they aren't in form). I think the passion is gone and he needs to go outside of Italy to find success.

The players seem to lack so much passion. I miss Gattuso. So he's not the most talented, but the guy gives 120% every game and fires people up.
The entire defense is a joke. Kaladze is horrible and the biggest disappointment. Maldini is one of the best all time, but is too old. Janku is not a solid enough defender to play LB. Zambrotta has done ok, but not enough. Bonera is not stepping up to the level needed. Nesta is always injured and may remain so. Senderos is inconsistent.
I could go on about the rest of the team, but there are only a few bright spots for Milan - Pato, Kaka, and possibly Flamini.

I'm doubtful Milan will be able to find a top 4 spot this year. I just want mgmt to recognize publically they have a big problem and are working on it - instead of the usual crap like "Heart of a lion, but Milan lose" or "it's the ref's fault" or "we had injuries" (that's why you sign quality young backups), "no problem, we'll overcome this obstacle", etc...

Anyway, sorry for my rant. Please ignore me. I'm just disappointed with Milan, again.

on Ancelotti becomes predictable: When you have that many of players in DM-position, and with only a few in attack (please, don't ask me to consider Inzaghi / Sheva as attackers these days; they have way passed their prime esp. Shevchenko).

In attack, we have Borreillo who is used almost every game this season when he is not injured, and Pato. That's it. No one else. Now Borriello is out, Pato is the only available option. A x-x-x-1 is a definite. Putting Inzaghi together with Pato may help, but not a lot. And forget about Shevchenko.

I'm positive, if Borriello is not injured,Ancelotti is more likely to go with a 4-3-1-2 or even 4-4-2 formation. With the attack sucks big time + injury, very difficult to see what Ancelotti can do.

If you tie a person on his hands and legs, how do you expect him to walk?
