overall, the boys just never seem to play well in rain

In attack, we have Borreillo who is used almost every game this season when he is not injured, and Pato. That's it. No one else. Now Borriello is out, Pato is the only available option. A x-x-x-1 is a definite. Putting Inzaghi together with Pato may help, but not a lot. And forget about Shevchenko.

I'm positive, if Borriello is not injured,Ancelotti is more likely to go with a 4-3-1-2 or even 4-4-2 formation. With the attack sucks big time + injury, very difficult to see what Ancelotti can do.

If you tie a person on his hands and legs, how do you expect him to walk?
thank you jeff, you are always in contrast to anyone else with your mature, sane posts.

Didn't get to watch the game, but sounds like a fairly poor performance once again.

as for the coach...i don't want to pass judgment on ancelotti because i don't really know what type of chemistry he has with the players.

but one thing is for certain...a great coach INSPIRES AND MOTIVATES the team. without that, even with phenomenal players, a team won't get very far

milan has a lot of injuries now and i suspect morale is very poor. there is so much involved with a team playing well despite such setbacks...but a good coach should be able to motivate all players...superstars, first string, second string...to play their best

We are now only 4 points ahead of Roma who is 6th in the standings. This is a real deep crisis and everyone involved in the club have to realize that now and start working, sweating and bleeding for the club. The way things are going now, it's a disgrace. We simply cannot afford another season without the Champions League.

Jeff, even if I agree with all of this its not just that we're stale tactically. Watch almost any other match and you will feel the passion of the players. Our team plays with no passion or heart. I believe that players like Seedorf and Pirlo are still class and have a lot to give to the team, but they have no motivation to work their asses of anymore. They've won all there is to win, as has Carlo, and he just can't light a fire under the players anymore. That IMO is the main reason he has to go. I greatly appreciate and respect the guy for everything he's done for us, and God knows he's not been given a lot to work with this season, but its time for a fresh face.

I didn't watch the game either (good thing too) as I was working and then had band practice. Where's the 'motivation' Carlo spoke about?. And if Beckham continues to play so badly we shouldn't pursue him any longer (and I will get a new avatar) ...
I guess it isn't fair with so many injuries, but there are other problems with the team/club.
Forza Milan.

I'm sick and tired of reading about injuries. A club like Milan should have two rosters that can compete in any competition at any time. Take Inter for example. For them it does not matter who is injured or how many, they have players who can step in and get the job done. Not players like Emerson and Favalli but quality players. Talent like Obinna, Balotelli, Jimenez, Maxwell, Viera, Mancini all these player are their bench player, most of these player can step into many other teams and be the starters. I hope you guys get my point.

Carlo by now would be fired if he was at any other club. Chelsea was in the running for the Premiership, CL, CUps and still fired Scolari. If Zamparini was the president of Milan Carlo would be fired by now at least ten times.

Vadim:

1) I agree and this will also mean that players, except a few, have to go. What you depict is very grim, indeed. you raise a good key point: Sacking the coach is not going to make a difference. We need some passion, fire, and motivation. That FEELING of winning.

The only issue is: Is it because they don't have it anymore because they have won so many in the past, or is it because they are on a losing streak and makes them feel less self-efficacious and less passion?

2) FLame please edit your signature as mods request.

Bosniaco:

1) "Chelsea was in the running for the Premiership, CL, Cups, an still fired Scolari".

Exactly: They are still, and probably will be, just runnning for the Premiership, CL, Cups. Sacking Scolari is a totally immature act and shows once again why Chelsea is going to lose again.

If we decide to lose patient with coachES just because losing streak, then trust me no one is going to make it through a year.

***

For now, let's hope that Kaka` and R80 will be back soon (Let alone those who have been missing for ages like Gattuso & Borriello & Nesta). It seems that we are just not the same team without them.

It has become increasingly unbearable to me how people think that Ancelotti should be sacked.

This is not becuase of my personal 'favor' for Ancelotti.

This is because it is not solving the problem, but people think by sacking the coach we solve the problem.

In essence, the problem is far from over. Whether we bring in Leonardo or Rijkaard or whoever.

The problem lies with the management's inability to react swiftly to the deteriorating defense and to improve squad depth, a problem that has long been known for many years.

We have already found enough scapegoat: Dida, Gila, Brocchi, Emerson, and we have pointed fingers on players who have never really impressed at Milan but people demanded playing, players like Gourcuff and Shevchenko.

But after pointing fingers and putting fingers on these players, problem never get solved.

Now, we ask to add one more figure on the list, namely Carlo Ancelotti.

Say, how will that really solve the problem?

If it's one about motivation, then Carlo should have long gone, but he did not.

That's fine, of course, if you keep rejuvenating the squad and keep the people coming in and going out.

We haven't seen it, yet.

Instead, the management bring in players who have past their primes: Rivaldo, Ronaldo (who did a reasonable job at Milan), Shevchenko, Emerson, (who even dared to come back to Milan), just to name a few.

What did we really get from these folks? Nothing.

If someone is at fault, it is the transfer campaign, or, if you will, the lack of financial money that allows us to buy big (though I doubt this is indeed the case if we can actually acquire Pato with $20M.

You're right, the change has to be from the inside as well as the outside. However why people want Carlo to go because this current regime has become stale and needs to be replaced. Though the talk of players being replaced is very evident, the same thing about the management and staff isn't that obvious.

I don't think many on the forum hate Carlo, they merely want a fresh start but it's also important to realise this new start with a new coach is pointless if a larger change fails to occur at this club.

What hurts me the most about our current situation in the league is that Juventus, who came out of Calciopoli 50000000x worse than we did are actually making a stronger push for the title than we are. The same Juve who were in Serie B for one season, out of CL the next, lost Ibra, Vieira, Cannavaro, Thuram amongst others; lost Buffon for a good part of this season, Chiellini, Trezeguet and a host of other players. That right there is embarrassing.

Been trying to write since the past week, but always something or another..

Either way, what a horrendous set of results, and worse yet even the performance of our so-called players. Sometimes change has to be made for the sake of change. I think this Milan is nothing short of stale, predictable, lacking in passion. Even management has become predictable---we perform like losers on the field, and then Galliani comes out with the usual "injuries", "carlo is safe" "we are world champions" "we have won a lot" "referees suck" crap.

It's time to have a bit of courage now. If sacking Carlo now means we rejuvenate and become a stronger team in 2-3 years, then lets do it, even if it means another year in UEFA cup. The last thing I want is a strong finish to the season, management coming out and sayinge everything is fine, let's keep Carlo and sign another oldie, and then we get decimated in next year's UCL. I thought we learnt our lesson from Arsenal last year...
