The Legends of Milan

You mean Shevchenko? I think legend takes more than just scoring goals.

Jeff whilst I disagree with Kwasniefski's opinion on the thread, I think Sheva is a legend in Milan despite him leaving us. What he achieved at Milan in the best part of a decade cannot be ignored as for years he pretty much carried the team when we lacked any quality players. Being the second highest goalscorer in the history of Milan is another feat that simply cannot be dismissed.

He may not be a legend of the calibre of Maldini and Baresi, who dedicated their careers to Milan, but certainly he deserves his position in Milan's history.

Sorry, Sheva is no legend. Just a great player that COULD have acheived this status if he stayed on. Not blaming him for leaving, as well as I am no longer blaming Kaka, but he will just be remembered as a good player, nothing more.

I think as long as the players performed well during his spell at MIlan(longer than 5 yrs or so), regardless of whether he retired as a Milan player or not, you can consider him a legend.
Guilit, Frank R, Desailly, Albertini and Rui Costa did not finish their careers at Milan, but I believe they can be call legends of Milan. While on the other hand, I would not call someone Legend just b/c they finish their career at Milan-(SEEDORF!!!!)

Definetly! Pep was a legend at Barca, depsite getting moved on towards the end of his career. However, he always showed his loyalty, and gave everything for the team during his time. That what makes a legend. Kaka? He has done alot for the team, you cannot take that away from him! Whether he is a legend? I'll leave that for you to decide.

There won't be many legends for ACM in the future if you hold on to that stipulation. Too much money and temptation around in different markets for players to resist these days. Kaka sound familiar? Is Kaka a legend? If you plan on having Pato around long enough to become a legend that's not going to happen. He will want a different challenge and more $ before too long. I predict Maldini will be our last legend indefinitely....or will you be ready to hail Seedorf as a legend if he retires at AC?

Shevchenko is a legend, without a shadow of a doubt.
So is Seedorf, a Milan legend and a legend of world football. 4 CL, with 3 different clubs! Enough for me. Even without mentioning his extraordinary skills.
But Baresi is my favourite among legends.

How could I choose between a striker and a defender, or a goalkeeper and a midfielder ?
How to choose 5 out of 20, 30, 40 topclass players ? They all have become legends in their own ways....
Franco Baresi was a really great one. The first and only player I adored.
But the man I mostly respect for his skills, his loyalty, his fairness and his character is Paolo Maldini.

i didn't say he was a **** player or that he did nothing for our club. sheva was one of my favourite players ever at milan and he was our saviour for many seasons and delighted us with goal after goal.
but to be a club legend you definitley have to stand by your CLUB.
The way he wanted to leave was terrible, and dis-respectful.
if that warrants "legend" status, your list would be easy to get into.

I agree. It doesn't make you legend, if you score many goals. Shevchenko should certainly not be considered a Milan-legend and neither should Kakà for that matter.
They haven't done ANYTHING to earn that status.
