We should stop talking about a new CB because it aint happening, why do people intend to talk about Santacroce and other fine CB's while they know we wont get anything in that departement,we need a CB sure, but after getting Onyewu the MGT wont get another CB.So stop talking about please, its really not going to happen, the earlier we really realise it,the earlier we will prevent dissappointment when the mercato closes.

A new FB will arrive for sure, and i wonder who it will be,the Oddo-Silvestri swap would be really great, but i doubt it will happen. But i am just glad at least a new FB will arrive.

I dont know about the midfielder issue, maybe Berlu will suprise us,maybe not,we are not linked with a midfielder because we are chasing a FB i think, but after Pirlo stayed,a midfielder will maybe not come.I am fine with that, with Janku moving to midfield we have enough options.

I also dont get the talk about wanting a new goalkeeper,Dida will not leave,is it so hard to wait another year,Abbiati will probably miss some matches, but he will be there for us this season, and since when we have dropped faith in him,he is a world class goalkeeper and he proved it last year,we all thought he was just a second-string goalie but he saved our asses more then once, and with Dida as second goalie we are fine, just wait till his contract expires next season then we should by a new young goalkeeper(Marchetti Please!!)But for now we are fine.

A LB and we are competitive on all fronts,im sure about it.
the reason Santacrose makes sense is that he can play RB, so if we sign him our defense could be Santacrose-Nesta-Sliva-Zambro. That would be really solid. And when Nesta retires in a year or two, Santacrose can slid over to CB.

You know, Hernanes really does have some skill.

But, if he plays like this, we'll probably just have another injured player on our hands.

Chelsea Launch Mega 'Buy & Loan' Move For Milan Star Pato - Report
The Brazilian could reunited with his old coach - albeit only briefly - if the Blues have their way...

According to the News of the World, Chelsea are ready to pay Milan a sum of €52.5 million for the services of Alexandre Pato.

The Blues have long been linked with the Brazilian teenager, especially since Carlo Ancelotti, the former Rossoneri boss, took over at Stamford Bridge earlier this summer.

The Italian giants have thus far resisted all approaches for their up-and-coming striker, but Chelsea believe they have come up with a deal that will please all parties.

It is claimed that the Londoners are willing to buy Pato outright for the aforementioned €52.5m and then loan him back to Milan immediately for the 2009-10 season.

The Serie A side are worried about cashing in on another star so soon after selling their talismanic playmaker, Kaka, to Real Madrid, but the Pensioners' new proposal would calm some of those fears.

A NOTW source said, "The boy would come to Chelsea right now but Milan have just sold Kaka and do not want to lose another top star.

"That's why this deal could make all the difference. Milan get their money up front and keep his services for one more season and have plenty of time to scout a replacement.

"Chelsea are hoping it is the perfect deal both for them and for Milan."

Both clubs are yet to comment on these latest reports.

€52.5 million?

Peanuts! Try €100 million.

another turd paper talking out of it's backside.

Anyway,
Imo Kaladze is getting too much stick for the last derby, when janku was clearly at fault for 2nd goal. At least Kaladze gets stuck and on form him and Nesta are a top duo. Not to forget we won the 1st derby with Kaladze playing great.

Even if we get a new lb, we'd still need another creative midfielder, as well as to offload a few players - notably oddo & kalac.
Janku & Favalli also have no place in def, but janku could play in mid once in a while, and favalli can play in a coppa italia.

It's a shame that Albertazzi, Strasser & Odu haven't been given more minutes, but I hope they can get a good few games next season.

Even if Vargas is not indispensible, it doesn't mean that we will come cheap to Milan. They will make us pay at 15 million euros for him and judging by our measly transfer campaign, do you suggest we will be willing to pay that price. I don't think so! Vargas is not as good as Santacroce and there are alternatives available so I wouldn't know why we would go after him at that price.

If someone could have, then they would have signed these guys considering their quality.

If you weigh Kaladze's 12 days of a ludicrously organized pre-season against his years of quality and experience to step-in whenever needed and without complaining then yes you are right. Last year was not so good for him, especially the derby, but he is still much more experienced that Onyewu and that is why he should start ahead of him. That was my argument. Also bear in mind that he was injured last season.

In that CB argument, I was saying that we don't need to buy a CB now that we have 2 new players. Of course, Leo will use these CBs as needed during the game. If there is a striker in the opponents team who is menacing with his headers, Onyewu would pitch in, if Nesta and Silva fail. If there is a need for a regular CB, if Nesta and Silva fail then Bonera, Kaladze or Favalli will step in.
I'm really not sure what Napoli's starting lineup will be in the new season, but most press reports I've read suggest Campagnaro has been brought as a starter which will leave Santacroce in a tough situation. Given that Santacroce has already been prepared to move and his agent even declared something like he'd run to Juve, I think the guy is probably prepared to leave.

There is no way Vargas is worth 15m. He went to Fiorentina for about 7.5m and has had a season below the standards he set the previous season. at the very most he's worth 10m.

Also many clubs have been after these guys, Vargas' future has been in constant speculation since before the season ended and Santacroce has been sought after by Juve, with Ferrara declaring his admiration for the player and Santacroce's agent making clear indications he would be prepared to leave (as I said above).

The last time (and only year) Kaladze had a solid year in CB was back in 2005/2006. 2006 onwards he's had some impressive performances which have been marred by many bad ones. His constant injuries and continued drop in form (something which has been diving for a couple of years) make him unsuitable even as a backup at Milan. Bonera is better than both him and Onyewu and is for me by far our best backup in defence for the new season.

Santacroce would be a fine addition to our squad, but I'm thinking, if he plays as FB he probably wont give all too much offensively (but would be very solid at the back) - as Leonardo wants "un terzino di spinta", ie a sideback who can push forward. That could maybe mean that we can field a more offensive midfield, since he would give good cover at the back, almost like a third CB... or is he good at pushing forward too?

Anyway, no rumors of him coming to us, so we can only dream about that.
---

Lazio should be flying back from China soon, so I'd expect that in this coming week we will discuss with them about the FB-swap.

Pato is till 19 for God's sake.... We should hold onto him for a while to come, bcs if we sell him, it will be Chelsea who wins, as they will get someone who will continually improve for the next seven years....

B.T.W, I was just looking at Juve's new stadium. it's beautiful! Did the council help pay?

News of the World is England's equivalent of AS or Marca in Spain, so I wouldn't put much stock in anything they print.

That said, the overreaction of panic-minded fans notwithstanding, couldn't this Pato thing actually be a smart move for Milan if Chelsea were really willing to offer so much money for a player who hasn't yet proven himself in the same way that a Kaka or a Cristiano Ronaldo are proven? Pato is not worth nearly that much based on what he's actually accomplished. He's been brilliant sometimes, but he hasn't yet been brilliant consistently. His perceived value is based largely on potential.

Let's say that Chelsea does buy Pato for 45 million pounds and loan him back to Milan for the season. That would give Milan the money -- right now -- to buy Giuseppe Rossi, a midfielder such as Hernanes or D'Agostino, and a good fullback. Those guys would be added to a squad that would still have Pato this season and would make Milan a serious contender for the Scudetto and the Champions League this season. Pato would move to Chelsea next summer, Rossi would already be here to replace him and Milan could exercise Dzeko's 20 million euro option to further boost the attack for the following season.

Honestly, I'm not convinced that Milan isn't going to lose Pato to Chelsea sooner or later anyway. He's obviously very fond of Carlo and Carlo wants him at Chelsea very badly. Milan is not going to be in the same financial position as Chelsea anytime soon. And I can see Pato being just like Kaka, wrangling a pay raise out of Milan at every opportunity. So if this were really a serious offer, wouldn't Milan at least have to consider the possibilities?

Provided the money is spent like you said (or similarly) then I wouldn't necessarily be against it. Although after Kaká's sale selling Pato (being the best U-20 player in the world) would make us look even more like a selling club, there's no denying that if we add three great players in each department with the money earned we would be stronger.

The problem is, though, I'm far from certain that Berlusconi would spend that cash on new players.

No way... Pato is already so much better than Rossi, and his talent is obvious to everyone. Dzeko is a good talent, but don't compare him to Pato, Pato is Unique, there are tons of players with as much or more potential as Dzeko.

It looks more likely than not that he'll be fighting for the Balon d'Or in not that long time. Yes there's a chance that he won't fullfill his potential, but then again, no matter what players we would buy, there will always be a chance that they'll fail.
