Even goal.crap is posting a transfer campaign for us on a budget. Normally I stay pretty level-headed and I wasn't expecting much last year (because Real inflated prices) or this (World Cup/ManCity inflated prices), but when it becomes common knowledge that we are too poor to buy, oh brother.

I kind of thought it was just in our heads and we were expecting too much (sort of what B&G were saying). The reality is that after this previous era (Cups and Scudettos) we have been ushered into a new era of fiscal responsibility. We are playing by rules teams such as Man City, ManU, Barca or Real don't play by. Whether there massive amounts of debt are sustainable or not is a story for another day. Goal.com is crap but sometimes they hit it right. It's a fact we must make a deals by selling our best players and buying 2-3 great players for the price. Moggi did that even 10 years ago when he sold Zidane and bought three world-class players, Moratti did the same last year... A risk must be taken. By selling Pato to Chelsea we could buy 2-3 great players. Also, Pato became too injury prone and I'm afraid that he's on the same path Ronaldo was before. Even two years ago, in one of good goal.com's articles, they said Milan should sell Pirlo to get a striker. Imagine if we sold Pirlo (who became a crap btw.) and got Drogba two years ago, from this perspective.
Talking about Pirlo, Milan is too Pirlo-dependent for years now, and the only way Pirlo can operate here is to put him higher up. Simply, Pirlo as DL PM, every average coach learned - man-mark Pirlo and there's no Milan.

Be careful, you may just get what you wish for....Milan with no Pato and no replacements.

I agree with K77SH C. The Kaka and Sheva sales were ideal times to revamp the squad after making a large amount of money on players whose performances were dropping, yet we did nothing.

We cannot sell Pato yet though. Pato hasn't even reached his peak yet and I don't think we can say that he is going down the same road as Ronaldo yet when it comes to injuries. Also, there is no evidence to suggest that we would use the money obtained from Pato's sale to intelligently reinforce the team. I rather build the team around him and sell Ronaldinho or someone else who can make us some money, if we're that desperate for money.

Poli, Perin, Marilungo etc............Why cant we sign 3 to 4 of these guys....and may be 2 or 3 prove players like Krasic, Dzeko etc and we are ready. After all Milan is an Italian team and should not be like the Merda where there are no Italians !!!! What a shame !!

We've been heavily linked to Marchetti today, as well as Lopez Roderiguez (on milannews). Buffon has also been linked with Borri going to Juve in a swap deal, but it's unlikely (According to Tuttosport).

Also Pazzini has been linked to Milan (milannews again).

Also, it's been mentioned I think but Benfica apparently are interested in Huntelaar.

My biggest worry of the news is Kaladze staying. Seriously, after his outburst earlier this season as well as the standard of his performances, he surely has no place in Milan. Replace him with Onyewu (who never played a part last season) or Albertazzi, neither of which can surely be worse right now and let him leave Milan with some good memories.

Did you write that list yourself or did you get it from somewhere? Just there's a lot of potentially good young Italians that could be added to the list.

I would like Milan to try and encourage young Italians to break through, but many clubs would rather spend half the amount getting a young Brazilian, which isn't something I'm at all against, though I don't want Milan to lose a foundation that makes it the club it is today (which is a club that's always had a strong Italian identity).

I think Milan will keep it's Italian identity. I say this because I expect us to seriously push our youngsters through. That means we should see guys like Albertazzi, Verdi, Schenetti, De Vito, Zigoni, Berretta and Gaeta all coming through (hopefully). I think there's a lot of hesitation surrounding our youngsters because of our track record when it came to having our players coming through. However, the latest Primavera (and youth setup in general) was by far the best we've had since Berlu took over Milan, so I think we will see some of the players coming through.

That on top of youngsters loaned/co-owned out, namely Paloschi and maybe Di Gennaro, means we shouldn't be like Inter in the forseeable future.

Having said all that, more than Milan keeping an Italian identity, I would love to see a Milan squad formed on the base of Milan youth. That means I would like Milan to be a squad that has been built around our youth players, irrespective of nationality.

As for Inter, while there's no denying they weren't effectively an "Italian" team this season (with almost no Italians and a non-Italian coach). However, the football they played can be argued to be very Italian, as it was built around cornerstones of the Italian game, such as a strong very well organised team that was built from it's defence forward.

We simply MUST win scudetto next year! Its is so much "must" it cannot be mustier...

GK - only choice I would approve is D.Alves, future world class GK. Absolutely fantastic player, Im sure of it. Gigi is Gigi, the best there is, but he is cronically injured and I would like him to stay in Juve as some things are sacred in football.
Marchetti is not much better then Abbiatti on his good form.

According to FIGC Sacchi and Maldini will work for the Azzuri with Prandelli... that is what WE needed! Such people! Not Allegri and Galliani... my god.

Lets wait and see what will Berlusconi do with the club, maybe Putin will give us some money! Man, we'll be the mockery of whole Europe...
