I don't think it's about age for arsenal. It's lack of defense.

A team led by fabregas with Van Persie, Arshavin, Nasri, etc.... song and Diaby came on in midfield is more than good enough.

But that backline is terrible (and DONT GET ME STARTED ON GK) I'm pretty sure that midfield and attack + Chelsea backline would have a) won EPL by now and b) been a serious UCL challenger

seriously, do you think clichy, Vermaelen, Gallas and Sagna are THAT bad?
IMO its not the worst.


I think they lack a good GK and a Defensive monster in midfield, + they lack experience and they cant do it without fab and van persie.

the way they play is. Vermaelen is really bad TBH. Probably easiest defender to expose in space. Gallas is a shell of his chelsea form.


They allow 3 or 4 to every decent team... chelsea, city, united etc.

So does anyone know anything about this Gustavo Pereira-El Gato guy? I guess we have bought him.

Vermaelen was one of the best defenders in the Premier league last season, He's even in the team of the season. + was named arsenal player of the month 3/4 times. strange to hear someone say he is really bad, youre the first one.
I've watched 90% of Arsenals games last season and IMO he did more than OK.

Giovinco will probably leave Juventus this summer. I wouldnt mind getting him. + I dont think he would be that expensive... He's a really talented player!!

and scored a bucket load of goals as well, not all headers i might add if i remember he scored one 25 yard blaster along the ground into the bottom corner.

i watch alot fo arsenal too, his defending is not good...

vermanelen started hot cause he scored some goals. I was high on him too, but repeatedly seeing hmim allow goals is his offense worth it?

Think it's as much about Arsene Wenger as a tactician. He's very naive, which could be seen mostly against Barcelona, where he decided to go with a plan and a lineup expecting to dominate possession, when it clearly wasn't realistic. Sometimes he simply needs to be more cynical, and take an realistic approach instead of playing every game with the same plan. Pep Guardiola has learned this, and when he needs to he does take a more cynical approach (Away @ Real Madrid is an example) and he has much better attacking players than Wenger.

Don't necessarely think that Vermaelen is the problem though, it's hard to argue with the ZM article, it's obvious to anyone, but he's not the only one in Arsenal's defense that keeps making rookie mistakes. Just think about how good Gallas looked @ Chelsea and how mediocre he looks now. I just think they need a good organiser to straighten them out, cause it almost doesn't matter how much talent you have in defense if they aren't organised. Real Madrid's the perfect example of this making Cannavaro and Samuel look ordinary.

Sad for me to admit, the best news for Milan these past two years is actually JM leaving Inter and RB taking over Inter.

It would be nice if we could buy Otamendi. I would be eagerly watching him during the WC. But its hard to say what are Milans mercato plans. Who exactly are we looking?? A striker, a defender or a midfielder??? Guess it all surface once Allegri is officially announced as coach. And besides the WC will give all the clubs a chance to decide on who they really want.

Some interesting news today. Moggi is convinced Milan will do something big in the market. Despite his obvious flaws, the man knows football, so if he expects Milan to do something, then I won't be surprised if we get some interesting transfers.

Cellino (Cagliari president) has admitted he's forcing Allegri to see out his contract. The reason is pride and he's apparently angry at Allegri for losing focus on Cagliari during his time there.
