i also feel that dos santos is like cheap viagra ! takes a while to kick in
and can be useful most of the times ... i think getting him would just be like getting a another dinho for the right side. i dont think playing in the center is really his game ! plus he;s a lazy player i feel...

i'd rather see VDV in milan. after his madrid fiasco he must be itching to up his game !

He's Brazilian + Italian passport, 25, RB, and free.
More importantly, how good is he? Haven't seen him play much, but we have enough right backs that aren't good enough.

Man, since here at MM we only discuss AC Milan transfer strategy and rumors and we ain't the ones buying (or not buying) players, the perfect targets of your comment must be Fester and Berlusconi.
I also believe that Dos Santos has not made a great impact on club level but he is still young. Plus, i don't think we can categorize him as a complete failure in THAT Barcelona of the last five years, as he was 17 years old.

Still, i wouldn't spend a lot of money to buy him. He has skill and a hell of an attacking mind but yes, he marks with his eyebrows. He has technique but he seems a bit lazy and selfish to me. I am afraid he might turn out to be one of these players we usually admire when they do magic things wearing their national team's jersey or scoring a fantastic goal and tell each other "WHY THE BIG TEAMS ARE NOT BUYING HIM? " And the probable answer maybe is, because he is not that good, because you can not invest in a player like that and be sure that he will become a valuable asset or maybe because he costs too much for his game. Still, he is only 21 and in my opinion, far from garbage. As the for the big ego, that's what the coaches and the Nestas of this world are for. It's a good think to have an ego when you start playing football, just a little bit right there at the middle of the BIES (Balotelli Insane Ego Scale).
Does anybody know how much Dos Santos really costs?

Exactly. That's why i would rather buy him than Honda. He has to catch up with his fellow dutch superstars. We know he has what it takes and i think a new big team will boost his game like Inter did to Sneijder. On the other hand, like Sneijder again, he could boost the game of the team who will buy him. I hope i am not the only one here who thinks VdV would be great for this Milan side.

I like Van der Vaart, but could Mourinho let him go?

Kaka's physical problem get worse, and even if he is fit, his favourite position - play near the forwards would colide with Ronaldo. IMO, Real need a true playmaker at ACM position, who focus at passing & creating more than breaking through the defense.

According to transfermarkt he's worth 5.5 million euros, but since he had good WC they might ask for 7-10M.

We should take it even if the deal takes Giovani + 5mil. for Huntelaar

That just reminded me of the first time Mourinho faced AC Milan. We won 1-0 with Ronaldinho header and after the match Jose was so frustrated, he said Kaka played like "a spoiled prince" and that he always pretends to be injured by the "hard game" of his opponents or something like that.

The times they are a-changing indeed...

That means we would line-up with Dos Santos on the right, Ronaldinho on the left and Pato as a striker? That's an interesting attacking tridente, with technical skills to feed the whole planet but i think we should concentrate on our midfield problems. If we could buy Dos Santos as a cherry on top of an ass-kicking midfield, then that would be great. But go tell Galliani...

My friend i think you misunderstood me. I know our midfield sucks. Everybody who has eyes can see that. That's why i wrote that we should concentrate on our midfield problems and that a potential Dos Santos transfer could be "a cherry on the top" of our transfer market cake. That is, if we buy a couple of players for our midfield. If we get only Dos Santos and nobody else then we re left with a cherry we don't desperately need, no cake to put it on and Flamini running around like crazy.

vdv is a good player dont get me wrong he'd add a good touch to our team, but i think what were really missing is another player like kaka plain and simple. what does it tell you that we won ucl with kaka, when he left we win nothing. nothing else really changed in our team when he left it was just him leaving.. that's why i think dos santos would be a better idea then vdv.. if we could get VdV and robinho that would be amazing and its do able but i dont know why milan isnt making a move.. sell huntelaar 15m that most likely covers VdV and it is this transfer market and im sure it wouldnt be a very high price to land robinho.. especially since citys trying to land dzeko/balotelli

IMHO Dos santos type of transfers is exactly what the club needs to do in our current economical situation, low risk high reward type of transfers.

He's a very young and talented player that hasn't fulfill his potential, and yet he has plenty of time to do it, and if in a couple years he doesn't we can recoup what we paid for him since we won't break the bank to get him and he'll still be young enough to atract interest from other teams........let me ask you this, would you like Milan to get Anderson for let's say 6M despite the fact that he has failed at Man U? For that price I'll take him on a heartbeat, these types of talents are very appealing to say the least, specially when the price tag is that low.

I'm a huge fan of Kaka's, but lets put things into perspective. We won the 07 CL with Kaka at his best, but we also ended up 5th in the league that season. Kaka for cup competitions, I'm all for it. We need a midfield that will last us an entire season if we were to take the Scudetto back. Just think of how many games he missed out in the League starting from the 2006 season due to injuries and you'll know what I mean (Last season, Pato went through a similar phase, lets hope I'm not jinxing him).

VDV is a good player in my books, and a welcome addition as he can play all positions in the middle plus up front. Robinho, has all the qualities of a great winger, and watching him at the World Cup impressed me a lot more than watching him with Citeh. I would him take in a flash, considering that City have little choice but to offload him (they have too many players, he doesn't want to go back to them, etc., etc.). We will have to wait another 2 to 3 weeks though, before Robinho's value goes down to a reasonable level (once they get desperate to offload). Neither are THAT old, and could probably work to rejuvenate our squad to no end.

That said, I must say that I have been plenty impressed with the youngsters that Allegri has been putting out for us.
Merkel has good technical skill, and positioning, though he really needs to train up on the physical side (kept getting the ball taken off of him).
Verdi as a second striker reminds me of G. Rossi, albiet younger and in need of experience.
Beretta and Oduamadi have both shown what it would be to put some youth in the midfield, in the last two friendlies, It actually felt like we were competitive again, even though we are far behind in our preparations compared to our opponents. The only one I think failed to impress me so far was Strasser, who in my opinion did very little on the ball and off the ball to contribute to our games.

The youngsters won't last all season, and don't have the experience in the big games, but I would love to see them get a run out against teams like Brescia, Lecce and Cesena or in the second half of tight games where we need to change the pace. The only thing I wonder is.... where did De Vito go? He impressed last season in those cup matches, I really want to see him in action again.

I don't know if it's me or if others will agree, but the main weakness of all our young players seems to be physical ... I don't know, once they are pushed by an opponent, even a very little, they lose the ball. It's probably because they never played with adults before these friendly games.

About Beretta, he's a striker, more like Huntelaar (finisher) than like Borriello (can dribble, pass, help in midfield) or Pato (he can play any role in attack).

I agree about Kaka. Don't get me wrong, i still believe he is an extraordinary player, even now that he plays for Real but i find it extremely difficult for him to surpass his rossoneri seasons in the future. I think we agree that in modern football a world-class footballer is hard to be on top of his game for more than 6 or 7 seasons and there are many reasons for that.
Take Ronaldinho for example: few years ago he was king of the football castle. Now we are discussing whether we should replace him or not. Players like Maldini were the last of the mohicans. Kaka arguably helped Milan a lot, it really hurt to see him go but i am not sure i want him back now.

Now, VdV AND Robinho? Boy, that would be a dream. But i dont think it's gonna happen.

To be sincere i have no judgement to make about our youngsters, not having watched them play for more than one game maybe each.
Lets hope Allegri will find a way to turn them into players that can seriously help our squad during the next season-s and by that, i dont mean to see them playing the last 10 minutes in an early Coppa game.
