Thanks for posting this article. It's rare to see a well written piece on goal.com and the writer makes a lot of valid arguements. The hype around Xavi and Barca since El Classico has been going overboard.

To get a backup of Pippo, it's Paloschi, I know he's injured.
To get a striker who can cover the loss of both Pato and Pippo, go for Dzeko, I know he's expensive and non EU.

An addition of a class in between won't make sense. If Pato is still injury prone and something happens to Ibra, our run for any trophy this season is over.

Xavi is great player no doubt yet you seem to forget something. he plays in world's best team, with the likes of Dani Alves, Messi, iniesta, Villa. in Spanish NT he plays with Ramos, Torres, Silva more...From my time, i didnt see Rijkaard play, so its not justice to rate him.
Davids was better player than Xavi for example or Patrick Vieria was better player than Xavi. Xavi is perfect player for Barcelona and Spanish NT yet he is not the best. okay he can be in top 10 of all times and deserves to be there...

It would be a waste by us to bring Paloschi back as 4th choice striker, as it's a role where he won't get a huge amount of playing time (which he needs), and more importantly cannot benefit his development. A bigger problem is he's not been playing much at Parma in the past year or so either, which I fear will affect his growth.

When we get Paloschi back, I want to bring back a player who is ready to take on a lot more responsibility at Milan.

When Galliani says we won't buy a non-EU striker, that doesn't mean we don't have the non-EU spot anymore, that just means he wants an "European" (or non European but playing in Europe since enough time to have an European nationality, or any non European player playing in Italy) striker ...

Why ? 2 possible reasons ...

1) if the guy has an European nationality for example, that means he has played in Europe for some years, so no need for him to adapt to the way teams play in Europe nor to adapt to a new lifestyle as it's more or less the same in Spain, Italy, France, ... By saying such a thing, Galliani says that he wants a player ready to help right now and not in 6 months.
One word to sup up this reason: experience.

2) Galliani maybe has another deal involving a non-EU player in sight, so we simply can't buy another non-EU player.

How about bringing in Diego Milito as a replacement for Inzaghi? He isn't happy at Inter & 30 years old, so not many clubs would be keeping an eye on him. The most important thing, what a clinical finisher when happy

It's impossible, that can't happen, and personnally, I don't want him.

I don't know why, but my feeling about that is that we will go for Trezeguet on loan for a last call in a big club (a bit like Larson did despite returning in his first club in Sweden just before), or a young player nobody here thinks about ...

I think we need to consider realistically who we can get and will be able to do what we want. Fundamentally, the criteria I see as key for the new forward are:

1) Must be a goalscorer as right now we have only Pato who is known for his scoring qualities, and he's out till January as well.

2) The player must be able to accept the bench. With Ibra, Pato and possibly even Robinho ahead of him, the new forward may struggle to find much space.

3) The player must be an impact player. This means it doesn't matter if the player isn't great, but he must be good if coming off the bench. This is what made Pippo so special, whether he started or came off the bench, you knew he'd get a chance when on the pitch.

With these criteria I find the third a particularly important one. Guys like Matri might seem ideal in many respects, but I'm interested to know if he can come off the bench to change the course of a game. If he can't, then ultimately he would be deemed a failure.

I don't have a name in mind at this point, but if I was in Galliani's shoes, then these are the criteria I'd be thinking of.

It will probably be a veteran or my fav, Macarrone, as he is big and strong, will give his best playing for Milan and most importantly he fits the bill as a rental player.

We need a 4th striker to replace Pippo, so this man should be like him: sub, can score, class, experience

The contract should be a loan with an option to buy, so we could have him for 1, 2 years more or let him go in June to... renew Pippo

I've thought of some name: Fabiano, Adriano, Sheva ^^, Raul, Nistelrooy, Morientes, Trezegue,... to none

Galliani did not say that. He said because of new Italian rules which he does not like, Milan does " NOT HAVE" the ability to sign a NON-EU player.

Elmago he did... he said "if we buy, it will be a striker and he ill hold an EU passport because of the new regulations".

He did say that we are unable to buy a Non-EU striker, but he didnt say it was because we already used the Non-EU spot or not.
