Wow this will be a pretty expensive summer if we are to buy

1. Buffon
2. Diarra
3. Ibrahimovic
4. Torres
5. Barzagli

According to Bonera's statements on the official website.. he'll be playing RB.

As for his favourite position: ’It’s difficult to say, I have played in all positions in defence. Playing at right-back is an important objective. I played there mostly in Italy’s World Cup qualifiers. Now I am working with Tassotti to become more attacking.’

I think Perea as a RB was an option until we signed bonera as the italian has very similar characteristics to Perea's - can play both as a solid RB and CD. Now, if we are gonna be getting a defender it would either, or both, an attacking RB alla Cafu and/or a CD, which isn't Perea's favourite/best role on the field.
Considering that Cafu is a ex-footballer, I'd like to see Perea playing for us.

You nickname Zlatan "Zlatan street fotball Ibrahimovich" yet want Ronaldinho in your team ? What irony.
You compare Zlatan and Ronaldinho?, when I called him "street football"l its because he cant see the bigger picture in football, no split vision he thinks the pitch is 5x5 meter wide always try to dribble standing still, never looking up and try to find his teammates, that guy plays for himself not for the team

i agree with you, he always try to do things himself and is extremely selfish. i extremely dislike him. when you call him street football Zlatan, i immediately get what you are saying. but i guess not everybody understand.

Buffon and Diarra would be most welcome! The thought of Zlatan and Torres makes me a bit worried, however. Both would cost (a lot) more than I think they're worth. Not that it's my job to decide... ;)

There is precedence going against us (Marseille) so seriously people, let's calm down and pray UEFA doesn't rule against us.

Milan star and Real Madrid target Kaka would like to play for the Spanish giants, international teammate Cicinho has declared.

The Real full-back has spoken to his Seleçao buddy about the rumours, Spanish newspaper AS claims on Wednesday.

“I spoke to Kaka,” said Cicinho. “He preferred to not answer my direct question about his imminent arrival in Madrid.

“But everyone wishes to play in a prestigious team such as ours and Kaka’s case is not any different.

“If his transfer were to be finalised it would be a major improvement for the side,” added the South American.

“There are very few players who are capable of keeping their cool in the penalty area as he does.”

Rumours linking Kaka with Real Madrid began prior to the World Cup and have resulted in a verbal war between Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani and Merengues chief Ramon Calderon.

The 24-year-old Kaka and his agent father have denied the constant reports coming out of Spain regarding his proposed Real future.

Milan insist that the young attacking midfielder is not transferable and recently extended his contract until 2001.

22h - Italian time I suppose.
these are deadlines I found on uefa.com:

The official dealine for registering players for the group stages and beyound is 24.00h CET (Italian time) on September 1st, 2006.
The official dealine for registering players for the 3rd qualifying round of CL is 24.00h CET on August 3rd, 2006 i.e. tomorrow evening.
However, the list of players eligible to play in the 3rd qualifying round can be changed by 24.00 CET on August 7th, 2006 (the day before the 1st leg of the 3rd qual. round) provided that the player(s) to be added are already registered with the FIGC.

So basically, we have 5 days to add any reinforcements to the team for the games vs ZV/Cork City, and almost a whole month for the games in the group stages of the CL, should we qualify.

Milan between dreams and Black 08 pragmatism 02 2006 Grace

While it works with patience and discretion on the large names (Ronaldinho, Ibrahimovic and Buffon), the Milan not exception to the plans of svecchiamento of the defense: Oddo is still in the view-finder, and returns of the Gallas present time. Ariedo Braida gives the way to the first surveys for the star of the Barça and attends marks them of availability from the Juve for dealing Gigi Buffon and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but while it continues in the monitoring of the domestic market and international for ringiovanire the rear unit.
The purchase of Bonera has been alone the first step, but the rossoneri programs preview other inserimenti. Beginning from Maximum Oddo, that the first objective of via Turati for the defense remains. Oddo ribadito to the Lazio the own will to move itself to Milanello, but the parts have up to now not found an agreement. Continuous Lotito to ask 12 million and would want that in the negotiation Paschal Foggia was inserted, Galliani for the moment draft the former fantasista million Ascoli and does not propose 5 more Borriello.
While it has been taken care, like for Ibrahimovic, of having the assent of the player, rinfrancato on the fact that the purchase of Bonera pregiudica the negotiation that regards it: Bonera is in fact useful like lateral "blocked" and like they centers, while Oddo would be the just man in order to assure pushed offensive.
And from London the name of William Gallas returns of the present time, French defender of the Chelsea that the Milan has already dealt before that the scandal burst legacy to Calciopoli. The possibility that the rossonera square could be degraded had frozen the negotiation, but hour seems to draw new linfa from the fact that Gallas, with the contract in expiration in 2008, has not been introduced to the withdrawal of the Blues to Los Angeles. Gallas, that it appeals to to the Milan for the low cost of the cartellino and the tactical ductility that allows it to play is from centers them that from lateral, has expressed in more occasions the will than to leave the Chelsea, and is at least curious that has decided to pull the rope with the London club just hour that the Milan seems exited with little dani from the pocesso sport.
Probable that in the next few days via Turati lathes to it loads with an official offer to Abramovich.

Exactly... to me it's unbelivable to insist with a formation that's not working very well on the last two seasons... and the weak point is called Clarence Seedorf, he must be replaced by someone like Diarra, a measure that will definitely free Pirlo from all defensive concerns, allowing the great Andre to concentrate only creative affairs.

I think Tony is not Milan's main target for a striker.
What I'm worry is that Ibra would come instead of Torres which is much better than him as we all could watch during the WC2006

arcy
03-08-2006, 11:46
As much as I hope that Torres would come, how likely would it be for him to come to Milan after he did that press conference that he's staying with Atletico? He did say that he will stay for one more season there.

But we need another striker. In case he postpones his coming to Milan next year (as long as he transfers here I'm happy hehe), I can settle for Ibra.

Also quite a lot of people want Tevez but I haven't heard any prominent rumors about him though.

if the weak point is Seedorf, I prefer Sneijder. Better price, better skill, and younger. With Sneijder we can attack better, with Diarra we can defend better but I prefer attack:D. We still have Nesta, Kaladze, Bonera, and in the future may be Oddo, so Sneijder is better choice I think

Jim_UK
04-08-2006, 09:24
You can't sacrifice all our defensive abilities for creativity. We need more physical presence in midfield and Diarra fits that bill. Alot of teams have the ability now just to steam roller our midfield because Pirlo and Seedorf aren't very physical. We get past most of these by relying on our skill, but against some teams it just won't work. Sneijder will not improve our team, Diarra will.

Compare our midfield set of players against some of the others and see how they compare physically .... Lampard, Makelale, Essien .... Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko .... Silva, Fabregas, Flamini ... Cambiasso, Viera ... Emerson, Baptista, Gravesson ...

do you see the point now ? All of these sets of players are physically stronger collectively than our midfield 3. You can't keep having players like Goucuff, Sneijder, Joaquin etc etc in place of Seedorf and expect Gattuso to do all the work. You NEED a stable platform and in this respect Diarra is one of the best available, if not the best option.

True his offensive skills are limited, but by freeing Pirlo to weave his magic we gain more than we lose. For too long this team has slacked off of the tackling, we need to be more physical again to install some fear back into others.

This is also why we need a much more commanding CB than Kaladze.

Another point I want to add to Jim statement is Seedorf+Pirlo+Gatuso = 1m76 - 1m77 and we had to pull back Sheva, Kaka, Gila to defence dead balls. If we put Diarra (1m85 I guess) in place of one of this 3 it will be harder to beat us in the air.

To make it to playoff points last season (with -17 to start with) Juve needs to score 86 points (last series B champion is 83 points)

They will sell Baptista or maybe if they get Diarra will use him to try to deal with us for Kaka. Capello is being a bit*h right now and is trying to mess with Milan. He knew that Diarra has been our target for a while now and knew Kaka would be our most valuable asset, and its no surprise that he's after them both. He also did mention last week that he was looking for an all-round midfield player (a la Diarra) who can attack and defend.

I was really really hoping to get Diarra to replace Gattuso, but now I dont think he is needed that much to tell you the truth. Ofcourse he would be a great addition, but I dont want to see Gattuso out of the first 11.

I think Diarra will sign for Real soon, they need him. If he signs for us, it will be like a bonus and I will be thrilled. And trust me, Capello didnt sign for Madrid not knowing that he will have a say in the transfers and decisions at the club. He is a powerful manager, and I am certain he will get what he wants, especially at a club that is financially loaded like Real. It was only under the Florentino Perez era where the managers had no say.

Nope...something like Ibra will be a Rossoneri, worded about the same way as Viera was going to be an Interista except it's not the club saying it & more of a speculation, to which degree of truth I don't know. He also didn't play in Juve-Spezia friendly.

I don't prefer him but I don't really mind. I know he has the physical qualities of a striker, can play Italian style football and was able to make passes & score goals with Juve (who won the scudetto but then there's more story to that). But then again, I'm haven't followed Serie A faithfully. If Milan doesn't act fast in signing their top choice then someone like him can adjust to the team more quickly.

Or this news about him is can be just to "provide mystery to our surprise signing."

oo i will beg all Milan Staff dont get Ibra he is so selfish and is boring player ! Torres would fill everything forward and Diarra in midfield we don't need any body else ! Oddo Can do , in Defence !

crazy one-- Dida , Nesta , Bonera , Khaladze , Oddo , Pirlo , Gattuso , Diarra , Kaka , Gila , Torres ! this would be perfect for Champions League Competion .

according to calciomercato.it, Livorno's president, Aldo Spinelli, says that Milan has offered Livorno Coppola+money for the services of Amelia. He calls it a "very interesting offer" and goes on to say that, in his opinion, Milan will send Amelia to Juve in order to get their hands on Buffon.

That will be a master stroke IF we are loaning Amelia to Juve. If we're buying him and then offer him plus cash to Juve, i don't see the point.

Also if we did loan him to Juve then it will be difficult for us to get him back again. I mean if he succeeds in helping Juve get promoted he'll feel part of the team, the fans would love him and he'd be more reluctant to leave that behind and become a Milan player. Does that make sense ?

it does make a lot of sense. I was thinking along those same lines. Also Buffon is like barely 28 meaning he has a good 4 years - at least - of top football left in him and that's just too long of a period to loan Amelia, I mean the player himself probably wouldn't agree to not having a permanent club for the next 4 years or so.
Anyway, Dida for one more year and then Amelia taking over is a great solution IMO.

Amelia or Buffon , both are good.

I think we are not going for Buffon anymore but rather have Amelia.

Let him play some CL matches and let him gain some experience from Dida,...
He's good and next year , he'll be world class.:)

It seems we can forget about Diarra.
Real has offered 25 milion Euros.
I think they might even include Gravesen in this deal since they don't need him anymore.

Let's hope we give them a similar offer and that Diarra is smart enough to not ruin his career by going to Real.

http://home.skysports.com/transferarticle.aspx?hlid=407945

Who are we going to sign?!? I hope the management knows what they're doing... We don't have the time to wait for a couple of weeks to see if we can qualify for the CL, then other clubs will sign the best players before us.

Buffon, Gallas, Oddo, Diarra, Torres... Come on! :diablo:

I'm sure we can and will match Real's bid for Diarra, we must get him.

The thing about Dida is that if he's not going to sign a new contract we have to sell him otherwise he can leave for nothing. We can easily make £5-8 million on him, or use him for that value in exchange for another player. It's all nice to say 'yeah we can have Amelia & Dida' this season, but at the end of it we'll be losing money.

I'd rather sell him now and but Amelia in goal for the first team than let Dida leave for zero next summer.

We all saw what happened to Abbiati after loaning him around for so many years, he lost his will to play for our club and the board obviously didn't want to keep him. Having Amelia play second fiddle to Buffon for at least 4 years will probably mean exactly the same and therefore make Amelia a worthless purchase.

This will be an outrage if it happens. Diarra is exactly what we need and after all these reports of us 'definately' going for him it looks like we'll lose out again.

Instead of dreaming about Ronaldinho, why aren't they out there getting people to put pen to paper ?

I expect by the start of next week Diarra will be wearing the white of Madrid and we'll hear reports of 'we were never after him in the first place'. All this inactivity is beginning to make me sick.

i agree with jeff.. this inactivity will cause us problems.. first we had to wait till calciopoli finishes and that took 2 months of the transfer window.. with 1 month left now, they sayin we have to wait till we qualify to CL which will give us only 2 weeks left in the transfer window..

really i dont think i am happy with our management this summer AT ALL.. selling sheva for a rumoured 30m pounds (shud have been more), not getting gallas or including him already, selling stam/rui costa, giving abbiati to Torino and making the buffon deal 1000000000 times more confusing, missing out on the best full back in recent years zambrotta, missing out on a legend Cannavaro..

instead of getting players like Alex, Gallas, Barzagli, Lugano we get Bonera who hasnt been as good as he is in recent years. I really cant believe how people think that was a good transfer, I really really hope that our board dont think that the job is done in defence by getting Bonera. We need to start moving for players like Alves, Diarra, Tevez. Big names!

We need to sign at LEAST 4 more players, can we really do all this in less than 4 weeks? (or 2 weeks if we decide to wait until we are in CL?)

Gallas is not likely to come but Oddo has made his preference to join Milan cause he admire Milan very much. He also "protested" to Lotito why should the club asked for a more expensive price than Cannavaro (Oddo = 8 mio BP while Canna si only 5 mio BP)....maybe this due the age difference between Canna and Oddo? I don't enjoy this much either, but I guess we're just being pessimistic. It wasn't much in the newspapers about Bonera's transfer, and Nesta's some years ago, so hopefully we'll be fine in the end...

But we should have had at least Gallas for the premliminaries against Red Star, but that's not going to happen now that the list of players have been submitted to UEFA.

Hernan Crespo's agent has hinted the Chelsea star will be leaving the club in the near future with AC Milan his likely destination.
The 31-year-old spent the 2004-2005 season on-loan at the San Siro, before returning to Stamford Bridge for the following campaign, despite protesting that he wanted to remain with the Italian giants.

Having won the Premiership title with Chelsea last season it was thought that the Argentina international star might pledge his future to the Blues but he remains keen on a return to Serie A.
AC Milan are known admirers of the talented hit-man and his agent Fernando Hidalgo revealed that Chelsea may well let him return to his former stamping ground.
"Crespo will not remain at Chelsea, he has Jose Mourinho's word," he told Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Yeah, but see other teams transfer policy as well: they are sitting on their arms, waiting for Milan to make their moves and they wont pursue any player until Milan decides if they want Diarra or no, if they want Ibra or not, and so on.
:d33:

And we dont have the greatest squad out there, we might as well have signed someone to add some strength to our offence.

But now that we cant make rosters moves for this UCL stage, I agree that it wouldnt make sense to spend our transfer budget. But still, we are not the only players in the Diarra sweepstakes, Tevez sweepstakes and so on.

I want Milan to set its targets (say A, B and C) and get them. Not wait until Manchester signs A so we have to settle for A1.

The Bonera signing was totally unexpected but it was still a minor move, not huge name. I doubt from one day to the other we will sign a player that qualifies as a top notch talent without being linked with him before. Usually big names capture headlines before a move takes place.

It looks like all of our transfers will hinge on us getting past Red Star, which i think is a mistake. They should be bought now, waiting until after the tie will be too long and will mean missing out on some targets and will leave ourselves a small amount of time to conduct any negotiations.

Diarra has commented on the Madrid rumours and he said something along the lines of 'I'm pleased Madrid & Capello want me' ... 'They are a great club'. The article is on skysports and probably on l'Equipe somewhere.

I would see what Madrid's offer is and offer a bit more plus Vogel. Something like £17 + Vogel. I'd even go so far as to offer £25 million + Vogel for Reveillere & Diarra. Lyon have Clerc anyway, so they wouldn't be short of a right-back and it's 7 or 8 million on top of what Diarra is worth.

What about Javier Saviola? People have mentioned this guy before, he will be a lot cheaper than any of the other candidates for the striker-role. And then we can have enough money to buy Diarra, Buffon, Gallas and Oddo.

Actually I think Saviola could be a good partner for Gilardino, and replacement for Inzaghi. I think they have complementary skills, and he has great speed and an eye for goal.

I'm not sure. But they have a lot of good attacking players who did well last season, and new signing Gudjohnsen from Chelsea. Maybe he doesn't fit in their system anymore? Anyway, I think it's strange. Saviola was quite good in the WC as well I think. And he's still young also and has got an enourmous amount of talent.

I think Saviola would do well in such a "family" as Milan is and getting some sort of trust from his team manager, like he didn't have in Barcelona.

There are many reasons for Barcelona not keeping Saviola, among them:
- He is regarded as a player from the last management, before Laporta and co. arrived there.
- He has a huge contract, which Barcelona wants to reduce. Obviously Saviola is against this and he doesnt need to do it. This huge contract is regarded as a huge mistake (overpay) by the actual management.
- Saviola is going to be a free agent in june 2007 and obviously Barcelona wont help him get a new fat deal. Since they cant come to terms regarding a new and lower contract, Barcelona wont play him there. And if certain club wants to take him, they have to pay for his salary. But also Barcelona wants to sell him now and get something (some cash) before being left with nothing, empty "handed".

Well, thats the situation there more or less. He had success in Barcelona before, and he is obviously better than what they have sitting on the bench. He even played a very good season under their current coach (FR).

What I cant seem to understand is why is our participation in the CL such a big deal for potential signings? We are AC MIlan, not Palermo. Even if by some miracle, we dont qualify for the CL, we should have enough drawing power to still attract the best players on the planet. We are a winning club with a rich history. No matter what happens, playing for AC Milan would be something any player would want on his CV. And given our history and status, we will be challenging for honours in every tournament we play in anyways.

So I think we certainly should start wrapping up our transfers soon. The faster we get some key players, the better idea we will have about what the team will look like, and the better we can prepare for next season.....cant wait to CRUSH the "fake" scudetto holders, Inter in the derby...

if we don't make to CL, chances are we'll get Oddo, maybe Ze Roberto too and either Suazo or Crespo and keep either Boriello or more probably Amoroso.
If we get into Cl then we could definitely aim at big-money moves like Buffon, Diarra, Zlatan, Torres, Tevez (although we've never been even remotely assocated with him), Dinho, etc, etc.
I am not saying we won't add anyone at all but I am pretty sure you can scratch off the big names from the shopping list as we will have far less money to spend freely, we won't need super midfielders or super strikers as Serie A and a CL spot would be our only targets, which means not exactly a stellar season to look forward to. The big shopping spree will be left for next year when we'll almost certainly need it to cope at two fronts - serie A and CL, especially the latter.
And last but not least, our missing on a CL spot would affect our potential purchases as players like Diarra will almost certainly choose a CL playing real M over a Milan out of CL. The same goes for most of the big names we've been associated with. Maybe only exception would be Buffon but that's yet to be seen.

if we don't make to CL, chances are we'll get Oddo, maybe Ze Roberto too and either Suazo or Crespo and keep either Boriello or more probably Amoroso.

I dont think that money should be that big of an issue for a club of our stature, and also considering the fact that we have not dished out too much in the last two or three years. Furthermore, we just got 35M in cash for the sale of Shevchenko, so notwithstanding this year's transfer budget, we certainly have enough money for a big-name replacement with or without CL.

Secondly, even with an eight point deficit, we should be aiming to win the Serie a. For a club like ours, aiming for second or fourth spot even before the season starts is not acceptbale. We were unable to win the serie a in the last couple of years even with a formidable squad. Now with our star striker gone, and an aging squad, AND an eight point deficit, I feel that we really need to reinforce the squad with quality in order to win the league---CL or no CL.

As for players who would snub us if we dont qualify, then it's ultimately their loss. There is no guarantee that we will make the CL every year in the future. We need players who will give their all for the club through thick and thin and not only through "good times". So if Diarra REQUIRES CL football in order to sign with us, then I would happily tell him to piss off, because AC Milan is bigger than any player.

That's how it should be, but not how it is. The best players want to play in, and win, the Champions League.

Young players should join us anyway, they know that if you play for Milan for 10 seasons you will play in the Champions Leage at least 9 of them. So missing out 1 season shouldn't be a big deal for them.

Favalli

Lyon now want 35 million euros for Diarra and Real are only offering 20. If he goes for that price i will be mad as hell !

I think if we offered 30-35 million euros + Vogel for both Diarra & Reveillere, we'd have a good chance of getting both. Both of which could go straight into the first team and hopefully join Gallas aswell :D

Getting those 3 would soften the pain of getting Ibrahimovich

inter signed crespo, i hope we'll get some good striker, but i dont think so... lets see

skysports:

Internazionale have signed Chelsea striker Hernan Crespo on a two-year contract.

The Argentine international has insisted in recent months that his future lay away from Stamford Bridge and now he has been granted his wish of a move.

Former club Milan had been leading the chase, but recently crowned Italian champions Inter joined the chase earlier this month and have now secured his signature.

Inter have confirmed that Crespo has arrived on a free transfer, but Chelsea have the option to buy him back after one season.

The move sees Crespo move back to the Nerazzurri - the club he spent a year with before his move to West London in 2003.

Jose Mourinho did not want to lose Crespo and he was offered a fresh deal at Chelsea, but a move back to Italy was always his preference and now he has sealed the deal by putting pen to paper with Roberto Mancini's men.

The move now leaves Chelsea a striker short, with just Didier Drogba and Andrei Shevchenko - the likes of Arjen Robben and Salomon Kalou can fill in but Mourinho is more than likely to move for another forward before the transfer deadline at the end of August.

i am quite sure crespo would prefer a move to milan instead of inter. the only reason he isn't at milan is probably because we aren't even interested in the first place. This also signify the ambition of milan, we aren't going to get cheap strikers but instead going for the real deal.

I too think it's good news. Milan mgmt knows they need another striker. Instead of going for "what's left", they're going to target a good player for Milan.

Is that Tevez?
Big offer for Torres?
Possibly Ibra? (Risky, since Juve don't want to sell)
Trez (Not a good choice)

------------------------------

if we can't get Buffon (I have no idea what's the status), we should go for Amelia. Young, talented, and 7m. Sell Dida.

For striker, I believe we should push hard for Tevez (If the offer to ManU is to be believed, 15mil is not a bad price). If not, then big offer for Torres and if that gets rebuffed, then Ibra.

Still plenty of time left with the whole month remaining, and it's too late to sign to play against Red Star - so no hurry for that.

Yes. Inter, as usual, are strenghtening the wrong departament. What is really good news for us.
Attack was never a problem there, but if Moratti & Mancini insist, give them more forwards...

We are almost signing Amelia and will probably send him to Turim, in Buffon's deal - according to Livorno's president.
But the forward situation is interesting. Now that Crespo joined Inter I'm wondering if Amoroso will stay 'cos I was waiting two signs for our attack.
Hmmm...

This sucks man! I love this guy....I always have been the hugest Crespo fan. My dream was Sheva-Crespo and while it is joyful to see Chelsea have to give him up for free as well as see him return to his second homeland, I am BITTERLY disappointed to see him on the wrong side of Milan.

I understand that he is 30+ and Milan may not want to sign an older striker, but he signed for Inter on a free transfer and he is an AWESOME AWESOME striker.

I can't believe we lost out on him (or rather didn't even try to sign him). Inter 1-0 Milan in my opinion :(

That's how it should be, but not how it is. The best players want to play in, and win, the Champions League.

Young players should join us anyway, they know that if you play for Milan for 10 seasons you will play in the Champions Leage at least 9 of them. So missing out 1 season shouldn't be a big deal for them.

Exactly. Signing for us is a sure shot guarantee of participating and probably winning major tournaments in the long run. This is why it surprises me why some players think in such a "short-term" manner. If you were signing for Roma or Palermo, of course you would require CL because with those clubs, you are not guaranteed CL on a yearly basis and out of ten years you never know how many times your team will qualify---this is probably why Toni wants out of Fiorentina. But by signing for a big club like Milan, even if we dont make it to CL this year, given our history, we are likely to make it the next year....which makes me remember, if I'm not mistaken, Ronaldinho snubbed Man Utd who were in the CL to sign for Barcelona, who at that time were quite miserable and were not in the CL. But he definitely knew what he was doing---Barcelona is a big club and with him on board, they won the Spanish title, qualified for CL, and won it last year....so thinking "long-term" does have its benefits. :)

I wonder if you will still say this when Crespo will score against us in the derby, you clearly didn't remember his performance when Sheva had his long term injury, he took us to CL final and scored twice in the final too.

Inter is now buying everything they can, including attempts at taking Ibrahimovic and Toni to add to their strikers collection just so they can't play against them, and our management is letting it happen. Clearly Inter is still scared of us and they think a negative 8 penalty isn't enough to stay clear of us in the "scudetto of honesty" race. They make me vomit.

yeah I totaly agree.... I can't believe he didn't end up with us mainly because he showed many times his desire to wear our jersey again.
Even if we are going to sign a young promising striker (Ibra, Torres, Tevez) we could use him better than Inter can. We could sell Amoroso and 4 good strikers would be just what we need....considering the fact that Pippo might be out due to injuries a lot and Gila can't play all the games in top form.
Inter now has Adriano, Recoba, Cruz, Pizzaro, Martins and Crespo up front!
Thats good strikers + their still trying to not leave the race for Toni and Ibra.
SO what the heck are we doing? Crespo would fit much better to our squad as 3rd or 4th striker then haveing the same or maybe even worse position in Inter. Thats definately fault of our managment cause i'm sure Hernan would prefer us if he had an offer. Aiming for younger striker is not an excuse at all cause we would definately use both...and we still wouldnt have six or seven strikers like Inter has.....

Mr.Bungle

I can remamber when Galliani promissed Crespo that he will buy him out of his Chelsea contract for any prize...to make him stay with us, if we win the Champions League. Crespo scored two goals in the finaly and probably did his best performance for us so far...he tried really hard...and it seemed he really wants to earn his full transfer... Our poor defence let Liverpool get back from 0:3...we lost and Hernan had to go.
I though Galliani will keep him despite losing the match...cause he did his best and couldnt do better...but he rather moved to unsettled free agent Vieri before other team snatch him than having more patience negotiating with Chelsea which was ready to let Crespo go for 15M...maybe even less.
Well our transfer policy is so weird...no wonder that Vieris case ended up as Rivaldos...high expectation...number one or two in "wanted players" in most of the surveys...and big dissapointment in the end...

Oh boy, I would be really worried if our market was really closed. We just lost our star striker and top scorer (because he wants to learn english, for goodness sake!! :)). We have lost a top class center-back/right back (Jaap Stam), we've lost an experienced quality attacking midfielder (rui costa).

All we've done was to call a midfielder back from loan (brocchi), sign a good prospect at right or center back (bonera), and signed a young talent in midfield (gourcuff). We havent even addressed the huge void left buy sheva yet? Is that really good enough? I sure hope Galliani is kidding...

No I don't think our market is closed...there was a post somewhere here that talked about this. I think they already have picked the transfers they have in mind & that's final. But nothing in pen & paper & this could happen after the prelims.

----------------------------------------------------------------
The climate to Milanello therefore is not serene and the face of Ancelotti testifies it. The rossonero technician had supported the purchase of Crespo, but it has not been pleased: “Here to the Milan - it has said yesterday to the thematic channel - we are all legacies to Hernan. We knew that it wanted to return, but the society has others objects to you in this moment”. Braida confirmation: “The Argentine has not never made part of our plans”. Ibrahimovic to this point becomes a fundamental pawn, even if Ancelotti prefers not to cant itself: “The society is much careful one and knows to estimate our deficiencies of organic. Against the Red Star Ibra not will be of sure and I now want to only think next to this game”. Then but he adds: “Zlatan is a great champion and it will not have insertion problems”. Braida confirmation: “Muoveremo in order to take it to Us, but not there is haste, we have time until the fine August. The relationships with the Juventus are many bonds”.

I am not sure it would have been an ideal situation - let's not forget that we have the tendency to waste games when we come with a big lead, like the Pool game or the Depor game, for instance. With only 1-0 up, we would definitely be alert and concentrated, plus we'll be in much better shape for the Beograd game.

I am not so sure since it wasn't Depor that beat us but Milan beat itself in that game, both from a physical and mental point of view.
The environment in Belgrade would give a very different look to CZ and they will be far better than the pathetic team we plyed today. So, i wouldn't be too reliant on them being a worse team, at least on paper, than Depor.
Bottomline is, it doesn't matter how well CZ perform, as long as Milan goes out there with the mindset of the mighty AC Milan and shows what they are made of.

What difference does it make what the margin of victory is? The tie is not over and will not be over whether we are 1 nil up or five nil. Have we not learnt our lessons from the past?

We either qualify for Europe or we dont. So if we are waiting for certain qualification before signing players, then we have to wait until after the second leg, no matter what. If Europe was such an important factor, then we will not conduct our market operations based on probability. Imagine if we were 1 nil down in the first leg. Then what? We dont buy players because we might be out of Europe? Chances are we will probably win the second leg and qualify anyways.

So if Europe is indeed a big deal, then we wait until things are certain. If not, then let's start signing players.

From the game yesterday, it sounds like our defenders did well, especially since none of 'em is tall enough for Zigic. What people are screaming now is for strikers. Gila this, Gila that, etc... Funny how things change just from one game.

If it's a striker, we need a secunda punta. Sheva did well with that role before, surprisingly, yesterday, it was Pippo who was, for quite some time, in that role. I'm not sure if Kaka can do well in that role or not. We'll see. If we get Ibra, then, he has to know that he'll be the second forward.

Defence: Yep. I was surprise to see Billy lasted for 90 minutes. Bonera might be available for Belgrade. So we will see how the signing how well is the new signing might work. Pirlo is great yesterday, he even got to win a ball, and Gourcuff had a couple of nice touches here and then. A fair debut I would say.

The things about signing after CL is secure is all about their... loyalty. I think the players have to be with the club thru thick and thin. If they wait untill after CL, I might doubt their commitment to the club. But that's just me.

The thing is that, it might not be the player, it is also their agents, or possibly even Milan. Maybe Milan just does not want to splash out if they cannot get into Europe.

True true. It is a double-edge sword after all. Players might want to wait, agents might want to negotiate, and Milan might wants to secure CL passage. I can appreciate people like Bonera: Milan wants me? I'm in. Doesn't matter if I have Europe or not. It shows he's a fan, first and foremost, and it looks like he's gonna work hard for Milan, not for only his own glory.

btw, I think Milan has the agreement ready. Ibra probably gonna to sign them when on the day Milan manage to go through. Braid seems to take the wait-and-see stand for this summer transfer season.

Riquelme is expensive and 28 years old. And we have Pirlo already.

Aimar is not needed now, I guess, as we managed to secure Kaká with us and brought Gourcuff... so it's not necessary to get someone like him. On the other hand, we desperately need a an all around forward, an attacking RB, a CB and an a multifunctional midfielder.

To be honest, do u think Milan can still attract players even if they are in CL for sure.

The more I look at it, the more I think it is very very hard.

Unless Berlu overpaid for all of them, meaning paying the club more than any other teams, (EX: like 50M for Ibra) Or else I doubt they can get anyone anymore.
And to add insult to injuries all strong competitions gained this off season

Real despite having tons of problems in the def. side, got Capello as their coach
and, Cannavaro and Emerson, they are after attackers now.

Chelsea, signed Sheva, Ballack, Kalou, to be honest, I am beginning to like Chelsea more since they really did not went after any of the scandal 4 clubs players after the verdict. OR maybe they just could not get them or whatever, but the fact is, none of the scandal 4 clubs players went to the Blues after the Verdict. Sheva left b4 the verdict.

Arsenal, retained Henry and signed Rocisky. Pires left though

Barcelona, Zambrotta and Thuram, wow, what a team.

Inter: Veira, Crespo, Ibra, Grosso. They are going to be tough, but wait, Milan did managed to steal Favalli from them, so I guess thats even.

As for Milan, while the addition of Bonera and Gourcuff are great, and Favalli is just a dream come to true. There are still some holes to fill.

Even though the game is not won on paper, but with a long season and tougher competitions, Milan do need some more depth on the squad if we do wish to win it all. I am sure that playing head to head, Milan can hold their own but to be consistent and win week in and week out. It really needs more depth than now.

Just hope Berlu understands that and players will still want to come to Milan.

I remembered Berlu stating this last yr, where he never expected Maldini, Cafu and others would get injured for such a long period of time....and thats really hurts them. Well, no offence, but injuries is part of the game, and I guess Berlu must realise that.

I read today that Monaco have signed Yaya Toure for £3 million !!!!!!!!

I know the majority of us would prefer Diarra, but Y.Toure is a really great player and at the price Monaco paid, you just can't go wrong.

It remains to be seen if Milan would have been charged the same amount, but still, that's a comlete bargain. He and Zokora were excellent for the Ivory Coast. He's still young though so we can always keep an eye on him, i just think that at a time when we don't seem to want to spend a great deal, he would have been an excellent addition to the squad.

zlatanov

you do have I point, I will give you that :D
I read that article on skysports but if I remember correctly, he never said that he wants to go to Real and Real only. At least from what I read in the article, I guess he just wants to go to a bigger club and in there it mentioned something like "you get an offer from a club like Real once in a life time".
But does that mean that he doesn't consider Milan to be an equally important club? I don't think so, IMO the guy just wants to go to a club more important than lyon and would be eqaully happy with a move to either Milan or Real. And for Milan to be in the finacial position to really step it up for a player that expensive, especially given that we do have a very good midfield already and Diarra is not a case of do or die, we need to make sure that we'll be laying CL next season ... and maybe Lyon are holding out for that moment when two big clubs will enter into a bidding war for their player.
if that article is anywhere close to the truth, Lyon wants 35 mil euros for Diarra, if they don't want to even negotiate with Real, let alone reach an agreement, that tells me that Real's proposal is way off the asking price and Lyon are most probably buying time so that Milan can enetr the race and that will force Real to up their bid significantly.

I also like the X-tree and believe it could and should be an option in a number of games even with the players we currently have with Gourcuff and Serginho being options for playing alongside kaka and either Ambro or Seedorf at LM.
The formation above is a pretty nice one IMO with Diarra and maxi giving lots of physical presence in midfield but those aren't easy targets to get. Also, I still think we would need to go for another reliable striker as I am not sure having only Gila and Pippo would be enough as the X-tree could be an option for some of the games but hardly most/all of them.

You're right Zlatanov, Diarra isn't a necessity outright. But if we want the team to evolve, then i think he and Maxi are needed. We have too many midfielders who are similar ... I agree with you. My point was that if we fail to qualify for CL, a move for any player, even a striker, who would cost us 20-30 mil or above, would almost surely be put in the archives for next year.
In an ideal case, there are a couple of players I would like to see join our midfield - Diarra/Mascherano and Ze Roberto. Should Foggia be loaned out, one of Mancini/Malouda/Maxi would also be welcomed, I guess :) ... and maybe let Janku and Vogel/Brocchi go.

as for Maxi, he is a very versatile player and, unlike CR who can play on the wing, Maxi could also play in either Gattuso's or Seedorf's position in the current Diamond formation. With Valencia buying Tavano, will they also buy Martins ? I'm not so sure. It's also a bold move by Tavano, it's not like the other Italian players who have gone to Valencia (Fiore, Di Vaio, Corradi) have done exceptionally well.

The thing i like about Maxi is that he's not a typical winger, as already pointed out he has a physical presence that most wingers don't have. True versatility is always a good thing.

He'd be a great signing.

Sometimes I wonder whether we should have secured the services of another top class striker BEFORE letting Sheva join Chelsea. Or at the very least, we could have got Chelsea to give us "a hand" in signing a replacement. With only two weeks to go til the end of the transfer season, the last thing we want is managment scrambling to sign a striker....

I think a few people are confusing Euros with £'s. We sold Shevchenko for £31 million and i think Real have offered Lyon around £13/14 million for Diarra.

Although it does seem he's set his sights on a move to Madrid, lets not forget that he called Madrid one of the top three teams in football. It could be quite possible that he sees Milan as another of those top three and that he'd also be positive about a move to our club if we put in an offer.

I still think that if we put in an offer of around £20-25 million + Vogel for Diarra & Reveillere, we would get both. I think Reveillere would jump at the chance to join us and with Lazio holding out for a large sum for Oddo, i think we should turn our attentions to the Lyon man.

Jim_UK

Something else i forgot to mention was the story concerning Ashley Cole.

Arsenal are determined not to sell him to Chelsea and it is reported in the England that Inter are after him.

Now firstly i doubt this to be true after already signing Maxwell & Grosso, they are covered in the LB area.

So, does that mean that we could be after Cole ? Could they have the right city but wrong club ?? It's a possibility, although we all know we need alot of other players before a LB, however it does tie in with this 'surprise' signing people keep referring to.

Although that's one possibility, lets assume it is Inter. They've been shopping like it's going out of fashion and it's certainly their style to keep wanting to buy the best players so the link to Inter could well be correct. If they do buy Cole, this could benefit us. Even though they bought Grosso, paying whatever Arsenal are asking for Cole would surely mean Cole would be first choice LB and unless they play Grosso on the wing (which i can't really see), Grosso's first team chances would be limited.

This is where we step in. As this is all hypothetical it's unlikely to happen, but if it did and we said to Grosso look, you can fight for a first team position and get limited chances for your favoured LB spot all season ... and put your starting place in the National Team under threat ... or you can come to us and be first choice LB in our team.

I think we'd stand a good chance of getting him if this happened and it wouldn't be for much more than Inter paid for him in the first place, which was £4 million i believe.

It would mean selling Jankulovski and i'm a big fan of his so i don't say that with any happiness. But having a possible back 4 of

Grosso --- Gallas --- Nesta --- Cafu/Reveillere

Now all of a sudden that would look ALOT better :D

Me too Chris, but say we did get Grosso and my whacky theory was right, i just can't see Jankulovski getting any opportunities. He hardly gets any now in midfield, only at left-back.

It's a shame as Nedved said Jankulovski would be the man to replace him in the Czech national team and he practically begged Juve to buy him.

oddo-gallas-nesta-kaladze, with not that much money we can have this, with serginho as another LB, marek as a Lm ( what he really is), and Paolo and Bonera CB's. if we can get Oddo and Gallas, why not?? sell simic and brocchi and we are covered even for the next year! what a plan by mr. Burns :) :)
