View Full Version : Transfers After CL Returning
But he was the best left-back in Serie A last season, alot of Serie A managers agreed on this.
I'm not going to say he's the best in the world or anything, but he is a better left-back and more consistent/reliable than either Jankulovski or Serginho. Don't you think ?
Anyway, if Inter's greed strikes again we can profit for a small amount of cash :D

janku in his current form, yes, but better than Sergio, not so sure, actually I am pretty sure who I would go for ;).
I dunno but I've always seen him as an average player with the best thing about him being his left-foot crosses. Apart from that he is kind of too thin for that height of his and looks a bit akward and not very quick going forward - what he usually does is go forward only when there is free space in front of him and then he sends a cross in the box but it's quite rare to see him jump/race behind the back of the oposition's defence or pass 1-2 players and create free space for himself when there isn't one already.
In defence, I really don't consider him a solid defender as his can easily be outmaneuvered by a quick player with good control on the ball - for instance, the C Ronaldo who was eaten alive by Milan defence, I believe would have Grosso for breakfast.
Who know, maybe he will prove me wrong with his display at Inter but I think it's not without a reason that grosso got his first move to a big team at the age of 30.

i agree with zlatanov on this one. Grosso doesn't impress me with his overall play. He is not really good in defence, he does cover the opponents well but at the same time he can't come out with a decent tackle to take the ball away thus subjecting the defence to too much pressure and some players do get decent crosses in ever when they don't have much spaces. At the same time, he doesn't push forward that often unless when really given a lot of space. I really don't think he is an amazing player that we should go after. I do prefer serginho over him. I rather give the chance to janku than to go for Grosso.
He seemed more than capable in all his world cup games. He was strong in defence and got forward in attack. He has good stamina and isn't a big disaster in front of goal, i don't know what more people want from him :googly:
I find it curious that so many people were saying Jankulovski can't play left-back last season and yet they don't want to replace him with one of the best performing left-backs in Serie A last season.

why replace Janku? The guy has hardly ever established himself at LB for Milan, a position which I don't believe is his best. If Grosso has to be compared to someone, that is sergio/maldini/kakha especially the first one.

I knew all along that Cole wouldn't go to Arsenal rivals Chelsea, but I don't think Inter will purchase the player either. They have acomplished their goals in the market this summer already and I do believe that Inter regard Grosso very highly. Also, Maxwell is another great young talent they have at that position. Inter may overload in stars, but I don't think they'll make their WC winner unhappy. Also, I don't think the LB position is that much of a priority at this moment for Milan. There are many other positions that we must put our focus on this summer.

Milan: ecco Sobis, settimana prossima Oddo
-----
Summary: Sobis will arrive in the next few days.
Oddo should arrive next week a deal involving Bonera or Foggia is being discussed.
Coppola will go to either Livorno or Parma while Vogel may end up in Man U or Blackburn.

:grinser: good but wahaay i hope its oddo for foggia ill end up strangling Silvio if its for Bonera
Coppola - lol he shouldnt have been signed anyways ...
Vogel - Im gonna miss the dude
Milan is starting to get in action.
Sobis looks to be coming and so does Oddo.
Now just Tevez and Mascherano. ;)
I thought is was £ 2.5 milion + Simic , Brocchi or Foggia.
I hope they leave Bonera in Milan.
If Coppola goes to Livorno , maybe we can get Amelia.
Vogel , he is not bad but I can understand his possible desire to leave.
Vogel to Man U in exchange for Rossi ? Probably very unlikely. :)

its okay at 30 cause at least he still has years left at least 3 :ilol:
I prefer Bonera to Oddo. Oddo is 30 already.
Except that they are two completely different players in terms of what they bring to the right-back role. If you prefer a solid defensive right-back that offers little of the width we need from our full-backs then that's fine, but the team would suffer from it.
Oddo is the better choice for right-back between the two.

It was a surprise for me to see Bonera in this deal. La Gazzetta is a reliable source... so this probably indicate that Gallas can come in the end. As well as Buffon or Amelia.
Mascherano to Milan??????
If we give Bonera to Lazio and get Oddo and Gallas we have made a super solution. But if give Bonera and fail to get Gallas, we didnt do anything for a CB position, which I doubt Milan will let happen.

Gallas is better in skill and publicity than BonerA, Bonera is good, but Gallas could be a better option, that does not mean that Bonera should leave though!
And Diarra is surely towards Madrid. Official news coming in a matter of hours.....
If we really want reinforcement in our midfield, my bet right now we are in deep talks with MSI and those Russian connections including Roman to get Masche.....

I think Diarra is a great player but i am not sure Milan need him at all. We have got Seedorf, Ambro, janku and a few other that can play well in the MF position and i don't think spending so much money on a player who bring a little improvement to our squad is wise. In fact, i am rather satisfied with the MF lineup currently and i would really like us to give more chance at MF to our young players instead.
The search for a second striker, defenders and keeper is the most important IMO especially the keeper position. We must bring a keeper this year cos Dida won't be here in a year time and our other keepers are plain bad. In defence, we have too many old players that need replacing in 1-2 years time and surely new players must be brought in before that.
The striker position is the last of my worry though cos i am quite confident of inzaghi and Gila abilities to score and if there is a need, we can play with 1 striker instead and use kaka and Gourcuff to supply. It would be good to bring in 1-2 good players and get rid of useless amoruso though.
Zlatanov is correct. I hate putting a value on players based on WC and Euro performances. They are indicative of absolutely nothing. Had it been so, Hassan Sas, El Hadj Diouf, and Zagorakis, to name but three, would be ballon d'or finalists every yr!!!!! Let's be real, Grosso and Zaccardo are not very good players, yet along with their palermo pal, Barone, they were on the Italian national team. Grosso had a good semi-final but let's not make him the second coming of Maldini. To be fair, Zambrotta and Serginho were the two best left backs last yr. Palermo finished 8th and the few times I watched them, Grosso nor Zaccardo stood out. Barzaglie is actually better. Let the idiots of inter sign him and flaunt him. Come November, he will be sitting behind cesar and the legion of rejects inter has accumulated. Add insult to injury, Favalli will have a better yr with us!!! As for Ashley Cole, like all premiership players, he is overpriced. Chelski is willing to pay 35 million dollars for him. Let's be realistic. With the additions of Bonera, Favalli, and Brocchi being able to play the flanks, we are covered for this yr. We have simic, bonera, cafu, favalli, brocchi, billy c, kaladze, sergio, and maldini, able to play on the wings. Let's do a double scoop and get sobis and tevez, then we are set.

Diarra to RM @ EURO 26 million, deal is confirmed, we are sucked, really sucked and really really really sucked.
Agree with you guys. Diarra is not really a priority given that we already have Gattuso, Ambrosini, Brocchi, and Vogel who can all play the defensive midfield holding role. If he's going to go to Real Madrid for some ridiculous fee, then let him go, I personally dont think he's worth the money.
As for Ashley Cole, he would be a great signing if we DIDNT have Janku, Sergio, or Kaladze (IMO, Maldini is no longer suited for the LB role). Given that we have the above three players, it's simply not worth spending so much money on a LB. If we're going to spend money, I reckon we should do it on a top class striker---either Tevez, Torres, or Sobis, or better yet get both Tevez and Sobis.

not really, I'm a little happy when I heard this new:D. I don't want Diarra in Milan by paying E26M. I'd rather have some young talent with that money, or Tevez. Diarra is not worth that money, E1M more expensive than when Shevchenko came to Milan.

Zambrotta aside, i've not been bothered one bit by any other clubs buying players. But here we've really missed out !
You can say all you want about "Diarra isn't needed" ... "He's not a priority". For my eyes he was needed, he's a class above all the other central midfielders we have that would play alongside Pirlo & Gattuso. How many more games do you need to see before you realise that we just aren't strong enough in midfield ? How many games do you need to see before you realise that Brocchi, Ambrosini, Seedorf, Vogel aren't the answers ? Good squad players, but Diarra would be a better solution than all of them.
We're a soft touch in midfield, we have no bite aside from Gattuso, we need someone to install some 'punch' in our midfield. Diarra would have been the best person for this.
Real have a great team now, they have a superb defensive core in Cannavaro, Emerson & Diarra. They have highly energetic full-backs in Ramos/Cicinho & Carlos and yet people still think they won't win anything.
It can't be a coincedence that nearly every team in the world plays with 2 players in the middle that are tough and agrressive. We have one yet people still think we don't need anyone. :p231:
Our only alternative now it seems is Mascherano.
With the additions of Bonera, Favalli, and Brocchi being able to play the flanks, we are covered for this yr. We have simic, bonera, cafu, favalli, brocchi, billy c, kaladze, sergio, and maldini, able to play on the wings.
It's this kind of belief that is the problem. Yes these are good players, no question. But they're not good enough to help us win all the titles we want. Brocchi, Bonera, Simic, Billy & Maldini good enough to play regularly on the wings ? You're joking right ? Of all the players we have for the flanks only Jankulovski, Serginho (left) & Cafu (right) are the ones that can do the job properly and there are questions over Cafu's longevity this season and Jankulovski's consistency.
We need someone like roy keane in the heart of our midfield.....
Pirlo is too weak hence a genius, Gattuso is powerful yet a bollock with minimal competencies in tactical awareness, plus his passing sucks.....
That's why we need someone like Diarra, Essien, or Javier Mascherano to give Andrea more freedom
All in all i'm with Jim all the way if we are talking about our obsolete and predictable midfield a la our own Carletto Ancelotti......

i have a feeling Carlo might want to use Ambrosini for that role. I would love to see Ambro in the role on a regular basis, as he is capable of doing a fantastic job there, and his career took rise lately when he captained Italy.
However, my fear, and I'm guessing most here is his injury problems, which has really been the real problem in his career, because otherwise I think we'd be talking about another world class defensive midfielder.

I not only fully agree with Ario and Jim, but also have to add something more: Seedorf is not anymore the player he used to be. He's performing way down below his past standards, looking a bit tired and aloof. We must recharge our midfield, and each passing goddamned day that turns to be more difficult!
Unfortunately, Seedorf is a players that needs to be replaced from first 11. As Grenoli saio, that is not the old Seedorf, he cant run like he used to do, he is slower that before and so on....

Hmm...Max should've a capability to dictate the rythm of the game which i still think he is lacking of it......
i don't know, maybe it's just a temporary solution....but to fight @ all fronts we need more than "maximizing" players that already at our disposal which a lot of them are useless imho...
tough to admit the truth though, about the state of our pack of midfielders. even Ancelotti and Galliani don't have guts to admit it....
As much as some of you think that Seedorf is useless and Diarra is NEEDED as his replacement in midfield, I beg to differ. Seedorf, given all his faults, is a crucial part of our midfield as he links up with both Pirlo and Kaka and provides us with much needed creativity. The only player I could think of who could replace him was Sneider, but there are doubts about his physical presence and capability to perform at the highest level.
If you think Diarra is needed, then we have to change the way we play. We may have to put two strong central midfielders and probably play with two wingers (with Kaka operating on the right). Otherwise, given our current formation, unless we sacrifice a striker, I cant see how Diarra would fit in unless he replaced Gattuso.
That's exactly what i mean rt9, as long as our chicken hearted coach don't have a bit guts to change system even that means to bench Rino Gattuso, Milan will go nowhere you can bet on it......
The arrival of Diarra,Mascherano type of player definitely put an end of Carlo's experiments on Pirlo as a regista, which mean he'll be pushed to Gattuso's position to give him freedom of dictating the play.

Hello, i don't think you are thinking the same way as most of us here are thinking. When people mentioned about buying Diarra, we are thinking of
Gattuso---Pirlo---Diarra.
Which is similar to how the Italian MF work in WC with the 2 strong midfielders defending and Pirlo given the freedom to move forward more. So NO, we are not dropping Gattuso, we are not changing Pirlo position on the field and Pirlo is not an experiment, he is already the BEST player in his current position.
PS: you must be insane to think of dropping Gattsso after the WC, i can safely say he is the BEST DMF in the world, he doesn't have amazing passes but he have the abilities to stop the best attackers in the game and also to push forward with Pirlo and do short and simple passes with pirlo and the right back.
Guess we have different opinion here hwmook about Rino. to say that he is simply the best DM around is pure nonsense by all means. He has nothing...i say nothing more than grit and maybe willingness to play by his heart. but that's not enough.
The role of Gattuso is pure defensive..his only capability, to cover Pirlo who is not fast and strong enough to be real regista a la Roy Keane (even so i also notice that his tacklings are mostly lead onto fouls).
Going forward?? he has nothing really, technically he is dull....gameplay?? no brainer.
Anyway, he played on the last WC as a starter, only because de Rossi red carded on the USA game, that's all. Did you think he is Lippi's first choice??
No, i have nothing against Gattuso, as i know that i will support him as a Milan player no matter how bad he is playing. But right now he is one of the weak spots that should be taken care of imo, besides that primadonna Clarence Seedorf offcourse.
And you say Pirlo is the best regista around?? you should open your eyes wider my friend....and hell, you don't have to. Just play the old record of Milan games and see how from time to time Pirlo's quality of playing as a regista is declining and Ancelotti seemed to know nothing what to do.
Pirlo has to change role....all the midfield play system has to change, Carlo NEEDS to be more creative on that term and give a chance for the team to rotate more. The prick simply doesn't have enough balls to rotate purely because he knew our team's depth are not good enough to do so, and he keep telling everybody and Galliani that the team is good already and we are ready to face the season for every year, and we all know that is all BS.......
Because of that we could know that the real problem for lack of achievements is our midfield is so much predictable. The depth of our squad is very much questionable as our real acquisitions until now is only the great Yohann Gourcuff, and he was suppose to be Rui's replacement?? please for god's sake

Ario, I meant what HWMook said with the midfield still having Pirlo as the regista and Rino on the right.
---Rino-Pirlo-Ambro---
It'd be a system where Pirlo is is given more freedom to move, which was a problem last year, as he couldn't move as pleased and therefore had many problems trying to do his job. Carlo already said that this season he intends to sometimes use Ambro to protect Pirlo more (much like the Italy system).
The problem before was Rino wasn't necessarily there to protect Pirlo, as he would also have to protect the right flank whenever Cafu would go forward. Playing both Rino and Ambro means that one can protect their flank if a full back pushes forward and the other can protect Pirlo, allowing him the freedom to move around more and play on the ball. I don't think Pirlo has diminished in any way recent years, but opposing teams have often figured out ways around our system (putting pressure on Pirlo and trying to force Gattuso in to help him would leave wide areas exposed and if Rino stays wide, the centre is exposed).
This doesn't mean Seedorf is necessarily out of the picture altogether, as against some teams, having him may be beneficial, when we have to take the match to the opposing team, who often defend more.
Finally, I will admit to having one worry of Ambro and Rino playing together, that is in the past we have had some trouble holding and playing with the ball with them on the field together. I think this matter depends more on who else is playing, as in the past it would often be Pirlo, Kaka, Sheva and Gila/Pippo. Sheva stays forward quite a lot and his movement usually operates around the box or in wide areas, meaning only Pirlo and Kaka were usually regularly available to pass to, making it harder to move the ball around. Therefore, it will be key to have whoever plays in Sheva's role to be willing to drop a little deeper. This could be another midfielder (Gourcuff or Seedorf) or a supporting forward who is willing to get deeper (one reason I've wanted Tevez so much). With the extra man, the midfield will have much more support and won't need to rely on Ambro or Rino to try and play as more creative players.
ps - I personally think Rino is the best ballwinning midfielder in the world.
Mascherano -- Pirlo -- Gattuso
I'd prefer it if we went to a flat 3 in midfield rather than a 1-2-1 diamond. This way they can move up as a unit and the two aggressive players can offer true protection allowing Pirlo to move much further forward and be alot more influential around the opponents penalty box. I'd rather have Pirlo 25/30 yards out from the opponents goal where he's a much bigger threat than 30/40 yards out.
You could always replace Mascherano with Maxi. It would be a nice dream to be able to get both.
all in all....as a regista Pirlo SHOULD BE PROTECTED all the time right?
that's ridiculous imo.....that's the outcome of Carletto's experiment that'd been figured out by our opponents.
My point is...we got to have more quality midfielders so that will help Carlo adjusting the system if needed, rotations by all means.
Cheers
Anyway Jim, where's Seedorf ;)

Seedorf will not be on the bench, but he cant play more than 25 full games anymore. He simply doesnt cover enough ground anymore, as he used to do.
But one must understand his role on the pitch; anyway not the time to discuss about Seedorf here. Let's wait till the CL game...

Ha? Why? Ya I was cleaning up the transfer forum since many posts have been left behind without discussion so all I did was 'closed' 'closed' 'closed'.
:510: lol yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!! keep up the good work .. and just doing your job huh ??? :haha:
Anyway, he played on the last WC as a starter, only because de Rossi red carded on the USA game, that's all. Did you think he is Lippi's first choice??
So? both gatusso and pirlo are widely recognised as one of the best MF, shortlisted as one of the best players in the WC. My friends who were mostly EPL(liverpool and manu) fans are all either a fan of Pirlo or Gattuso after the WC.
Like it or not, most people out there rated Pirlo and Gattuso among the best MF in the world and if we are to sell them, you can be assured they would also fetch very very good prices.
Milan play with an unique system and Lippi happily copied it and win the WC with it so don't underestimate our system of play. We just need to improve some parts of the system and we can get ready to rock the world.
The problem with our MF now is basically Seedorf. He doesn't do the defensive duties enough and leave Pirlo exposed having to move back to cover the left side too and cost him to use too much energy. But on another day, Seedorf can be absolutely hyper moving up and down the field. Seedorf really need to do his job in every game then i am sure we have the best MF in the world. I am fine with ambro coming in to replace Seedorf in some games but he isn't a permanent solution since he basically is injuried at least half of the time.
Actually i don't see any problems with Gattuso--pirlo--ambro. i don't think i have seen this combi before. the problem you mentioned about ambro and gattuso is when they are played next to each other, ancelotti like to sub in ambro in place of pirlo instead of seedorf. That would cause us some problems cos ambro and gattuso aren't the best in creating, passing.
i love the idea of playing 4-3-2-1, the extra attacking MF give us way more options in attacks, that is why i really like the idea of Tevez coming here. He and Gourcuff would give us more ideas upfront.

Precisely my point over the past few years. Seedorf on his day is truly amazing, but how regularly he puts in these performances is another matter. When he is playing, its also up to Pirlo to do more defensive work, which is the lack of freedom.
Ambro I honestly believe can be world class if he played regularly, but as you said (I mentioned it before too), his injury problems are a huge fear.

that's one thing I'm talking about though, if we play Rino--Pirlo--Ambro, one will often have to push forward to help the attack and the other two will close together to cover. Most naturally, you'd expect Pirlo to push forward. When Ambro and Rino had the ball before, they usually only had Pirlo and Kaka as options to pass to (a full back maybe too), which isn't always enough options and easier to defend against. Have an extra man like I mentioned, and suddenly most opposition midfielders will struggle to cope with the numbers, hence stretching out their team.

well, I think a lot of people would like that formation tbh ;)
It's sad to see Milan fans making comments like these. A constant starter for the last 4-5 years. Good Milan player who never mentioned considering playing elsewhere. It's a real tragedy indeed. Saying "if he's lucky" to be on the bench! wow.
Firstly, incase the big smiley grinning face wasn't enough of a clue, i shall tell you that i was playing around with that comment.
Secondly even if i was being serious about not making the bench, why would it be such a crime ? Some people in here act like you can't criticise any player at all on this team, it's beyond a joke sometimes.
My own view is clear, i don't think Seedorf should start.
You said yourself that he's been a constant starter for the last 4-5 years, so let me ask you that do you think he's still at his best ? Does he offer us anything new ? Can his performances help us win the big prizes ? My reply would be no to most of these, he's a good player and i am grateful for how he's evolved the team but now the team needs to evolve again as 4-5 years with practically the same midfield has stagnated our performances.
I'll tell you what the real tragedy is, people who think that our midfield 3 are always the best and can't be touched by other team's midfields, that our midfield can't or even shouldn't be improved upon and anyone who dares to suggest otherwise should be deemed as ungrateful or some sort of blasphemer.
let me just add some cents on this issue then:
the problem with Ambro-Gattuso-Pirlo is obvious. Ambro, first of all, gets injured easily and thus don't play regularly. Second, he is a ball winner just like Gattuso. While this will give extra space to protect Pirlo, there is one problem: No one holds up the field when Pirlo is tightly marked. We are taking for grante that Pirlo is always there, but it's not true. Sometimes he has an off day, sometimes the other team made the day bad for Pirlo. What can you do?
That's where Seedorf has come into the picture. He's sort of a mini-link between Pirlo and Kaka, if Pirlo fails. Ntice that Seedorf definitely has better dribbling and holding up ball skills. THis means that if we can't break the deadlock, we need Seedorf to move arond the midfield in order to coordinate with Pirlo. Believe it or not, it's an incredibly difficult job, and that's probably wehy sometimes he is AMAzING while sometimes he was plain BAD.
Having said, I still believe that Seedorf is useful to the squad in a unique way. He's like the Human Resource of a company; If HR does well, you won't notice it. But if it fails badly (like screwing up compensation scheme), then everyone will scold the HR.
Having said, Ancelotti will still need to have more creativity for our midfield.
Wait, this is about transfers after CL returning...

Hmmmm... but the big problem is that for each amazing performance Sedoorf gives us, we have 10 awful, bad or at least 'so so' displays from him...
I guess must be put under pressure, that is to say, we must get a player able to threatning Seedorf's status as a starter. BTW, I think that matter is a particularly serious problem with our squad, and since a long time ago: some players feel too secure of their positions as starters, and that's no good, not at all.
Relax Jeff, after you tell us who these creative midfielders are that you think we need, the thread will do a complete circle and come back onto the right topic :D
I'd like to take the points you make about Seedorf, namely his dribbling and holding up the ball skills and his link play between Pirlo & Kaka. This is a fair description of what he does but right now i see him as not having the pace anymore to actually dribble past players, so breaking away from the opposition is difficult for him. I also don't see him being physical enough to hold onto the ball or win the ball back on a regular basis. Finally i think that any player who is comfortable on the ball (meaning they won't panic under pressure as their skill will get them out of a tight mess) will be able to do the link up play.
No doubt at one stage he had all these abilities and he's helped get us where we are today. But he's not rising anymore, he's plateaued and only seems to spark into life for a handful of games at a time.
Getting a player to be all the things you've mentioned is obviously tricky as you're almost looking for the perfect midfielder. But there are better options out there and it's not about being disrespectful to Clarence, but about moving the team on which is what we need to do if we want to be winning major competitions over the next 5 years.
Lastly don't you think that being a starter for 4-5 years would make someone a little complacent ? This is probably my biggest annoyance about him. At times he just swans about and doesn't put in the effort, especially recently. It's just a train of thought but don't you think a good spell of working for his place will benefit us as a team in the long run ?
For me, Mascherano is strong in 2 of the 3 qualities ... Strength to hold the ball, comfortable on the ball to link up with Pirlo & Kaka. While Maxi is also strong in 2 of the 3 qualities ... Dribbling and link up play
No one we get will be exactly the same as Seedorf and we may well lose attributes from our game because of him not being in the team, but we will also gain new attributes from the new players.

That's it, on the bull's eye: one must no feel totally secure of his current status, that's very unhealthy.
mascherano would be perfect he can be a ball-winner like rino and protect pirlo but he is also very good at passing which rino isn't, mascherano-pirlo-gattuso would be brilliant it provides us with extra-protection and more creativity sign him now and tevez.

Then he can only become more big-headed as he just receives the no. 10... now could this be the new motivation, or yet another way for him to 'slack'? only time will tell. One thing is for sure though; he will be here to stay and probably in the starting XI next year. Finger crossed.
I'm not sure players will get complasant that easily really because we can never tell how much effort he has put in outfield. Maybe he is training extremely hard in the gym or on stamina; you just never know. but perhaps you are right, we need some competition in the midfield.
IMO, Ballack will be a good competitor with Seedorf... oh well ~~~
our midfield is extremly complexed becouse it has 4 totaly differnt players:
Pirlo that can pass brilliantly nad spread the play, but he needs good movement around him, and extra protection in defence.
Seedorf was a perfect player 3 seasons ago, but now he cant move and protect Pirlo like he used to do. Or when he does, he cant go forward like he used to. Its quite simple, just look at the time Clarence has been playing pro-football. He cant go on forewer, and it can be seen easely now.
Gattuso- can do it all but pass. simple as that. he needs to be sorounded by players so he can pass an easy ball and return to his position. If teams block Pirlo and Seedorf, and kaka stays far forward ( like in Barca game ), its all on Rinho, and then we fall apart.
Kaka' - classic AM, world class. but cant defend also.
Now, becouse of that, our CM always worked better with 4-5-1 becouse we had more options for Seedorf, kaka, pirlo and Rui. We had people in to defend, and combinatoric play to go forward. But since we are the only club in which coach doesnt decide, we are screwed.... :(
my solution is simple...........
..............pirlo...........
....gattuso.......seedorf..
......kaka'......gourcuff....
...........gila............
and that is with no extra players bought in.

mrki, I agree with you, but in my opinion it would be better if Milan would bring a powerful midfielder alongside Gattuso, in order to free Pirlo to offensive tasks.
It should be like this:
-----Gattuso-----New Signing-------
-------------Pirlo-------------------
--------Kaka-----Seedorf-----------
------------Gilardino----------------
As for the Seedorf issue, I agree with what Jeff is saying. He is crucial to our midfield. I have seen games before when Carlo fielded Ambro---Pirlo----Gattuso, and believe me, we were just plain awful. Either Pirlo was booting the ball straight up to the forwards or AMbro/Gattuso were just squaring the ball to the fullbacks, who would then lose it immediately.
Seedorf is the link in our midfield, and if we were to replace him, it would have to be a player with similar creative skills. Another defensive-minded midfielder simply wont do. As I said before, I thought Wesley Sneijder could be the man, but from his WC performances, I'm not too sure. Another player who could do the job is Ballack. I see him as the perfect guy to replace Seedorf in our midfield--he's got grit, great work rate, good passing skills, and a great shot. But you know where he went. Another one would be Steven Gerrard---now he would definitely add some bite to our midfield. But looks like he's going nowhere. As for Mascherano, I've not seen enough of him to make any comments, but if you guys say he is good, then I'm hoping management is looking into it....

I believe we have already signed a player to give Seedorf competition and we may as well see him pushing Seedorf to the bench. And I also believe we signed him during the WC, especially with the look Leonardo gave when he was asked "Will Milan sign him?".. im talking about the brazil's best player in the WC - Ze Roberto.. He has all that is required for Milan to buy him:
1- He's brazilian
2- He's versatile
3- He's free
4- He's 30+
Every day passes by and I lose hope that we will sign the right amount of players that we need, but come to think of it, you know what the surprise might be? It just simply might be signing every one in one day.. imagine presenting buffon, oddo, tevez, sobis,ze roberto all in the same day? That would be like WOW.
LOL!! I especially like the "30 plus" part. You're right, what has happened to Ze Roberto? Havent heard anything since the rumours during the WC. As for me, I've grown weary waiting for the management's so-called "surprise". At the rate we are going, the only surprise for me would be if we sign anymore players this summer!! :)

It is now offical that M.Diarra has joined Real Madrid subject to a medical. Which means we have lost one very good Defensive midfield option to settle the dust. The link below says it all.

The latest from gazzetta:
After qualification we will try hard for Ronaldo.
Gianluigi Buffon and Suazo are still in the picture even if we don't make it into the CL. Sobis will probably end up in Spain.
As it seems that there ain't any additions in the middle of the perk, i hope Gattuso and especially Clarence Seedorf will prove me wrong and show the best of what they're capable of.....

FORZA MILAN, Our midfield is pervvvvect!
few questions:
1. Where is Ze Roberto?? He is free, good player, and has no club. Months ago, it was said he'll siogn for Milan if we play in CL....
2. Where the hell is the money from BWIN and Sheva, Rui, Stam....??
3. Is someone in Milan working against Milan or what??

2. Where the hell is the money from BWIN and Sheva, Rui, Stam....??
3. Is someone in Milan working against Milan or what??
and some answers:
1. From what I know, he had a knee-correction surgery, or something like that right after the WC and Milan's interest in him was out on hold to see how that surgery went and whethre he'll be able to play/recover soon as a result of that - no need for another Redondo, you know.
2. For Rui we got nothing, for Stam, we probbaly got very little money - 3 mil or so and maybe an option on some of their players, so hardly a reason to speak of these two as major cash-resources. As for the rest of the money, there are 10 more days for transfers, and our season-deciding game is tomorrow i.e. we are in a situation where patience is worth gold ;)
3. Right now the only ones working vs Milan are the fans who, after reading one speculative article after another, voce their so-called opinions as if they know everything tehre is to know about what the Milan Management has been doing over the past month or so, just because site A or paper B said so and so.
Patience is needed of course, and in 10 days we'll know it all. Then the real discussion will be on.

too bad:)
but...who knows just wait ....
I guess, IF we quality, we will sign 2 players within the next week.
well, I think a lot of people would like that formation tbh ;)
Everybody except silvio..... :d55:
We should sue them all for torturing us all with all this transfer and court stuff :)
the latest news, relatively reliable of course:
1. Sourse close to Berlusconi has said that he has given Galliani 100mil to work with on mercato!!!!! huh....
2. Foggia, Simic, Vogle, Amoroso, Borriello will leave us....
3. we are going for Oddo, Buffon, Ronaldo(who is awailable )
4. Calderon: " we dont want money, we want something else..." That could mean Kaka' for next season, or whatever :(
5. We are also going for Eto'o who is Carlo's wish. He had a chat with Braida nad Galliani, but Barca is hard to negotiate.
6. Tevez is also an option.
7. Gallas is lost , Arsenal wil get him for A.Cole
Buffon said again that he wants to stay with Juve but if the team wants to sell him he will accept this decision
mrki....if they want Kaka next year or maybe if his contract expires....i don't think Silvio will have a go on a deal like that imo....that's insulting.
It's a different story if the deal was involving R10.....it's for the limited service of R9 for god's sake. I hope Berlu doesn't get too superstitious about it. He must think rational :)
anyway, about Eto'o and Buffon, i also read it on tuttomercatoweb
I don't really like Eto'o.. I mean he is fast but imo that's about it. He misses waaay too many chances for my liking.

I sort of agree with you on Eto'o missing lots of chances but he also scores a lot as well - he's a 20, 20+ goals/season striker, who may be playing in Spain but has proven his worth in the CL, so I at least feel pretty confident in his suceeding at Milan in Italy.
Also, regarding his missing chances, we shouldn't forget that the guy is just 24 - same age as Gila ;).
His behaviour after the Espanyol game when he left the team just for being subbed is something I definitely dislike but at the same time, he doesn't have a history with these things and believe it was more of a one-time offense, soto speak. Soon, Iam sure he would change his opinion on the whoel situation .. the question is whether he would do it late enough for Barca to agree to sell him to us :rone:
All in all, Eto'o is one striker I wouldn't mind seeing Milan spend 30+ mil but I doubt Barca would let him go just like that.
Not that we were ever linked with him, but at least it'll stop Inter getting their grubby little mits on him.
Joaquin has more or less sealed a £16 million (24 million Euros) move to Valencia.

I'm wondering if our beloved board has forgotten that we don't need only to replace Shevchenko... we need at least an attacking RB, a CB and, if the board still remembers the existence of unimportant matters (as they seem to give much more importance to signing a decadent primmadona only for marketing's sake) like squad depth and tathical / technical options, a new multifunctional midfielder.
yes, somethings is wrong in there. And by that I mean this - Carlo Ancelotti doesnt pick his own players, and that can only lead to NOTHING! tactics win in football, along with quality. and we are not doing it right now.

Saviola is a good forward, a very good one, indeed... but the board wants a 'high-profile-mediatic' man...
If you could guarantee that Saviola we would get would be the energetic creative player of his early Barca days then great ! But if it's the Saviola who was quite ordinary for both Monaco & Sevilla at times, then no thanks.

At least I seem lots of room on Saviola to improve.
He looks to be staying at Barca anyway. They got rid of two forwards, Larsson & Lopez and brought two in Saviola & Gudjohnson ...
I don't think they'll sell him ... likewise the only way they'd sell Etoo is if they REALLY wanted Trezeguet and i can't see that happening.

these are some nice players imo too ... and I think we could expect Milan to go for a mid by the end of the transfer period. Gago, I doubt we'll go for him as he is a bit inexperienced and Milan would probably prefer to see him establish himself and pay more for him then, rather than pay 10+ mil now for a very promising talent.
But Mascherano is already an established player so, at least for me, he is a realistic option, especially given that Chelski are full of midfeilders now and at least for now won't be on his trail.
Well we have Gourcuff and he's nowhere near established, Foggia also. So i wouldn't see any difference if we had someone like Gago to throw on in games.
If not to bring him over to Milan now, we could at least buy him and let him stay where he is or do one of those co-ownership deal things ... just to secure him

Indeed.
I think it's a no , at least I hope it is.
If it's yes , they would probably say clearly that Milan have signed Ronaldo.
But we'll have to wait a bit more , cause you never know with Milan and Galliani. :)

Well we have Gourcuff and he's nowhere near established, Foggia also. So i wouldn't see any difference if we had someone like Gago to throw on in games.
If not to bring him over to Milan now, we could at least buy him and let him stay where he is or do one of those co-ownership deal things ... just to secure him
you are right about Gourcuff and Foggia not being established but they didn't cost us much - the Frenchman was 2.5-3 mil and Foggia returning from loan, I think. For Gago, if I remember correctly, Boca were asking something like 10-15 mil last year and refused offers by Real and another spanish team, I believe.
Plus he may very well be a non-EU player and if that's the case, then we have another factor to worry about here.

Il Milan rinuncia a Ronaldo
Con un comunicato sul proprio sito internet la società rossonera annuncia di aver abbandonato la trattativa. Solo in Brasile continuano a crederci
Ronaldo, 30 anni il 22 settembre. ReutersMILANO, 25 agosto 2006 - "L'A.C.

Don't be confused, those are the official news.
Inter made an offer to Real to exchange Adriano with Ronaldo, and Calderon replied that he wants 10 million euro + Adriano for Ronaldo.
(my advice: don't try to understand these spaniards.) :haha:
They could at least give us a definitive answer ...
I don't think anyone knows what's going on ...
I don't think giving Boca 5-7 million Euros as a downpayment on Gago now would stretch out budget a great deal. Then we can give them another 5-7 million euros next summer and complete the deal. We get the player and don't spend too much, Boca get some money now and keep the player and Gago gets to join a great team and pair up with his mate Mascherano ! Everyone's a winner.

Jim for me this is an official and definitive answer.
jim since when has a definitive answer meant anything? ;) Too many instances of "he's definitely not coming" morphing into "we'd like to present....." Thank God we've only 6 days left of this insanity.
But then we have the January transfer window to look forward too midori :D
I read today that Tottenham were trying to get Baptista for £10 million but Real want £12 million. After i laughed, i thought well what if he were being sold ?
I've liked Baptista since his SP days in Brazil, so i've always wanted Milan to make a move for him as i see him as an ideal like-for-like alternative to Seedorf. I know he had a less than successful first season at Madrid, but if he recaptured some of his Sevilla form (even though he was a bit further up the field for them) ... then wow, we'd have an amazing midfield quartet !
What do our Brazilian chums think ?

This is exactly why I have believed all along that there was little chance for Ronaldo to move to Milan. The relationship between the clubs is poor after Calderon's continued mouthing off about Kaka all summer. I knew that Madrid would try to involve Kaka in the deal -- which they surely were smart enough to realize was going to kill it -- and then they would demand too much money.

Can anybody bought in January be played in the CL knockout rounds..?
yes, I believe they can ... but I am not sure what are the rules of the FIGC and Serie A about buying non-EU players in January transfer window. I am not sure about this but I think we can buy non-EU for Serie A only in the summer or if we have bought a non-EU player in the summer, we wouldn't be able to do so in the winter window ... something like that but don't quote me on this one
Can anybody bought in January be played in the CL knockout rounds..?
He can, as long as he has not played a European competition with his club in the same season...
It's, btw, quite the same for now. If we buy Gerrard (this is just an example, don't take it litterally... It's only meant to make my explanation clear) now, he will not be eligible for CL, as he has played the preliminary rounds with Liverpool against Haifa.

quick question guys, Maresca is he a winger? hes played quite well for Sevilla!
he isnt better than Cafu, or Zambrotta. ( Cafu > Zambrotta ). But this guy can cross perfectly( every game I've seen him ), his technique and strenght are impressive, and he can run all day long. He cant defend like Thuram, of course, but he defends ok. For sure, better player than Cicinho. His price is now 20mil for sure, and that means Millan will not go for him :(

Two things:
1) I would love to add Dani Alves. Im relieved he didnt join Liverpool, and its great to know he is brasilian. Obviously a plus when you are talking Milan...and when you are talking defensive backs.
2) Theres no way that Cafu > Zambrotta. At least not TODAY.
The original premise, however, was that sheva-gila believes that Alves is the best right back he's ever seen -- now, in the present and already. When you're talking about the concept of ever you have to consider the other players in their primes. Cafu, in his prime, was the best of all these, although you are correct that he's not today.
Alves, of course, might someday be the best of all, but I don't think he's matched Cafu's best so far.

Ah, well, the conversation got confusing. But definitely you'd have to go back a long way to surpass Cafu in his prime! :respect:
Some guys in here has been "crying" why we did not get Zambrotta. Here is his, quite interesting, comments about his transfer to Barca (from channel4.com)
Zambro: Juve betrayed me!!
Gianluca Zambrotta left demoted Juventus, but insists he feels betrayed by the club and would’ve preferred Milan to Barcelona.
“I am not a mercenary,” he told newspaper ‘Tuttosport’. “I gave my heart to Juve for seven years and never thought I’d see two of the Scudetti wiped from my record. I feel betrayed by the former directors.”
The World Cup winner has joined Barca along with Lilian Thuram, while ex-Bianconeri teammates Fabio Cannavaro, Emerson, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Patrick Vieira have also moved on following the Calciopoli scandal.
Juventus saw the 2004-05 and 2005-06 titles revoked, the team demoted and ordered to start the new season in Serie B with a 17-point handicap for match-fixing allegations aimed at former directors Luciano Moggi and Antonio Giraudo.
This week new President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli told newspapers he was “let down” by Zambrotta and Cannavaro for deciding to jump ship.
“I was very upset by that statement,” responded the full-back. “It wasn’t fair on me. When I explained to the new directors, just the once, that I wasn’t too sure I wanted to play in Serie B, they immediately set up this move to Barcelona. The reason is they already had an agreement with the Spanish side, whereas my agent had spoken to me about Milan. I had to adapt.”
*************************
So we tried, but seems like Juve did want to sell him to us... we have been unlucky (or poor) in this transfer campaign to be honest...

I've read that Atletico Madrid is offering 16 M euros for him, meanwhile Arsenal is demanding 18 M for the guy, so I guess that we can perfectly try to sign him! He's a very skilful, fast and young player, that can play with great quality both as second striker and as attacking mifielder with left-winger sensibilities.
He would be a fantastic reinforcement to us, giving very interesting tatical and technical options to the side, what do you think?

The problem with Milan is that, they do not want to over spend to get players. They always want to get value players. Now I am not suggesting they should pay three or four times the amount for Zambrotta, but at least don't undervalue him or any other stars. I mean, Real payed 25M for Diarra, Chelsea payed 35Mto 50 M for Sheva.... Why is Milan not willing to pay abit above market price for players that have what it takes to succeed. Guys like Zambrotta, whom I think if Milan offered just abit more, Juve will sell. Or Ibra or Diarra or Veira or Cannavaro or Tevez or Oddo or Buffon.... Instead of trying to get a good deal. I mean, I don't think u can get someone like Tevez with 10M, but I am sure 18M for Tevez would do or at least tempting. BUt no Milan just don't want to spend 18M on someone, they would rather sign someone for free to sit on their bench and pay them 2M salary per year.
Go figures, wait a minute, I think Milan can sign me for free and I don't mind sitting on the bench. Heck I don't need 2M/yr, b/c I deserve 3M/yr. And maybe thats why Favalli is playing for Milan while I am not

Exactly, EXACTLY! As I've been saying since a long time ago: the board is not reacting with the correct frame of mind to the ruthless and manic reality of today's football market. So if you wanna break big, you have to open your wallet, there's no other way to do it. :irritate:
Unfortunatelly we'll never see again a side like Steaua Bucuresti or Crvena Zvezda raising a CL trophy, 'cause football is more and more dominated by the big business power.
Gre-no-li, i think Reyes wants to move back to Spain. I don't think a move to Italy would be tempting for him.
We should go for Maresca & Alves from Seville. Done very well vs Barca in Super Cup. Alves is perfect replacement for Cafu. Leave Oddo, keep Foggia, get Alves. Maresca would give us a multi-purpose midfielder that we need. We can let Vogel go then, as should be a 1st choice for someone.

we seem to be living in the past regarding transfer fees. big players, due to the marketing potential, are more expensive these days, it's a fact we can't grasp.
Why spend so much on Diarra (25m), Ronaldo, Zambrotta, Ibrahimovic while we managed the Kaka deal with only USD 6 m.
Why spend so much on Diarra (25m), Ronaldo, Zambrotta, Ibrahimovic while we managed the Kaka deal with only USD 6 m.
That's one player, and we got lucky with the outcome. If we need proven players with experience and quality then we have to spend big, and considering our name, other clubs will put up the price, and other clubs with no scouting systems ie Inert will try to rob the players.
yeah, kaka was a rare oppertunity. Plus add to the fact, we did not need him at the time, we were able to afford to push a low deal because we were not desperate.
we are desperarte now, for everything. We've backed ourselves into this situation and it will only get worse. Every team in europe knows we will need defenders next year, billy, cafu and maldini will probably retire, they can shaft us on the prices.

BTW, if someone watched Barcelona x Sevilla yersterday, can see how underrated is Alves defence. The guy it annulled Ronaldinho to the point Barça coach changed Samuel E. to the left(also annulled)...
Ronaldinho was so pissed that elbowed Alves in the face
It would be even more difficult to get Alves now, they are now European Champions. :D But I am all for it; or Miguel, either one of them beats Oddo.
As for Zambrotta, I don't think he is coming. Those who dreams of him confronting Barcelona for a trade right back to Milan could stop dreaming. :) Truth is, if he was so adamant, he wouldn't have to go to Barcelona in the first place. We all know that.
Maybe next year? He still won't be free, but he will be 30. Right fits our criteria. :D Jokes aside, I think the most important thing is we ought to win to attract players. They all know that we are a power house, but if you don't win, it could be a problem. If you don't win for say, 17 years, you become Inter. ;)

Maresca is still Juventus player i think. I know he was on loan but i don't remember if they sold him to Sevilla. I think they didn't sell him.
If that is the case, then i doubt Juve will sell him to us.
I think Maresca was sold. He was loaned to Fiorentina and played fantastically, but he was still sold abroad, so I don't think Juventus still owns him. I might still be wrong, but I can try to dig up some archives.

Danni Alves? his perfect, but i doubt wed have made a move for him - too expensive, worth morth than 8mill. But if cicinho is on the market milan must get him. But why madrid would be crazy enough put him on the market I wouldnt know. maybe they r going for alves!
You're right Alves would be more expensive. The agreed price in the Liverpool deal was £12-13 million .... so that's roughly 2.5 times more than the 'alleged' 8 million Euros Cicinho is apparently available for.
Cicinho made his choice when he signed for Madrid, why would we want him now ? I'd rather see us spend money on Alves than see us sign someone who saw us as a second choice. Also, if you're right in thinking that Madrid will go for Alves, they would see him as an improvement over Cicinho, so why would we want their cast offs ?
If Real Madrid really are selling Cicinho, I'm fairly sure they'll buy a good centreback and pair him with Cannavaro, and then move Sergio Ramos to the right back slot.

Cicinho will be the best replacement for Cafu. Milan can buy him and stick him close with cafu.Rotation player maybe
I think they're going to do that with Ramos anyway Chris as i'm sure i read something that said they will use Cicinho in a more advanced role this season.
capello said, that he will use cicinho only as a winger, because he can't do the defensive role. it means he isn't a good RB, but he has good attacking skills.
so we can't use him as a substitute of cafu and we don't need a right winger, because we don't use wingers.
cicinho is not a logical target for milan.

For me Itsn´t a suprise... Capello don´t like brazilians(only Emerson , that brazilians don´t like :) )...remebre, first was Ronaldo, but Real asked to much. Batista is dead, and Real are trying to sell, now Cicinho...The next one will be Robinho...
BTW, Cicinho is a great player(in ofense), but as a RB, Alves is much better...
If only Baptista was available for 8 million euros :D
Cicinho is not the right player for us at RB.

a fullback does not neccesarily have to be strong defensively- cafu is not the best in that regard either. a fullback should cover the whole field, and be that extra attacking option, in milans case that wing that we dont have. The CB's shoould be good tacklers and stay back. gattuso is a good tackler and he can stay back and help them. cicinho is transfer listed coz capello has a thing against brazilians. we should also try and grab robinho. Pele himself praized the player. madrid have an extra striker (5) even excluding baptista
You're right, Cafu isn't the best defensively but he can use his experience to know and judge what to do and when. You need a fullback that can defend and attack, so for that part Cicinho isn't the best choice. Reveillere, Alves, Oddo are better choices.
Maybe you're right about Capello not liking Brazilians Brasileiro, Madrid's apparent front 6 will be
Beckham--Emerson--Diarra

look at this...sorry for bad translation.........
The brother-proxy cants itself: “Yes, the Milan can take Ronaldinho” “Servants time, but the transaction is possible”. “Servants time, it must go slowly” says Roberto, and the shape of the young and famous brother takes to shape within one rossonera mesh. By now ago to mean also the manager: the Milan and Ronaldinho are attempted, the operation are started. A message expected, the message has arrived. Roberto de Assis Moreira yesterday has admitted: “While we close for Oliveira, the other is a delicate transaction, and must go slowly”. But Roberto is clear, and while she explains the issue, she never does not stop sorridere. More about the words, yesterday, the eyes spoke: “The Milan is one of the greatest clubs to the world, in Brasi them is one of the squares more continuations”. Sottinteso: a pleasure to work to us. Therefore the transaction makes, while the Transaction will be made. Because if you convince Roberto, then it is easy to convince also Ronaldinho. Of nine years young, than nine more famous light years. For same admission of Ronaldinho, “for me Roberto is a idolo, a hero, than me she has always helped in my life”. Legacies from always and in order always, because Roberto, for Ronaldinho, is more than a brother, are the putativo father. Source: Courier of the Sport

Edu Dracena (reported Milan interest) and Kezman have moved to Fenerbahce. Kezman's move also lower's the possibility of Torres' departure from Atletico.
I don't think that leaves them with many strikers at all, just Torres & Mista and a bunch of attackers like Aguero, Petrov, Maxi, etc
Seems a bit of a risk to me if they do indeed only have 2 strikers.

Some time ago I was called silly by this assumption(in another board), but you can see this in Madrid right now. To be fair, Capello loves Emerson, and asked Calderon(yesrterday) to purchase Alex(PSV), but if you´re a brazilian OMD, RB, or FW...w/ Capello you´re dead.
Man, a team with Ramos/ Canavarro pair, and the protection of Emerson and Diarra don´t play Cicinho???
BTW, as the americans says, Robinho is oficialy in doghouse(only played 14 minutes)

OK, suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion, but having watched him for Arsenal hes not the player you say. Not in my opinion anyway. But guess time will tell.

Well, but certainly the board will never think about him, indeed.
And they shouldn't. Reyes is more of a winger, so unless Milan changes the way it plays, he's not a very good fit. Not a good enough goalscorer to play in the Shevchenko role.
Also, why would we go for a player who says he wants to return to Spain ?
He'd more than likely be just as unhappy at Milan as he is at Arsenal.

We strongly advise you to click the following link to read our updated rules and systems (it won't take even more than a minute to finish reading them).

What pity!!!
Every days since 2 weeks we read that Milan want another striker.... ANd finally no one. Brocchi, Favali, KAlac, Coppola, Gourcuff, that's great mercato!!!
So I decide to stop to read the papers beetwen 2 days and to descover to acmilan.com the team for the next season...I hope Buffon , Torres or Ronaldo or Tevez or even Oliveira or Trezeguet, GAllas and/or Chivu.

A striker would be nice, but if one does not arrive now, it will not ruin the season. If Milan play a 4-5-1 formation, rotating Gilardino and Inzaghi should be enough. In January they can bring in a striker if it is required.
I think bringing in Oddo or Gallas before the transfer window on Aug 31st is where Milan should be concentrating.

BTW guys I just checked UEFA, and it says the deadline to sign players is 1st of September at 00:00, not at 23:59. That means we will have today (29th), tomorrow (30th), and day after (31st) to sign players. We will not be able to sign players on 1st of September.
I also read something today that quoted Gallas saying he will stay at Chelsea for the next season and doesnt mind rotting on the bench. Did Milan ever sign 2 players from different clubs at the same day? Do you guys think we will be getting more than a player (if any at all) in the next 2 days?
Roma have bought Vucinic for 3 million Euros ! Now obviously at Roma he's probably going to get a bit more first team football now that they don't Mido. But he could have been an ideal solution until January if we couldn't bring in anyone now.

there is a PDF doc with all UEFA regulations, updated each season, and in there, under "Player Eligibility", there's a section called "Deadlines", where it says:
"sept 1st, 2006 (24.00 hous CET)" i.e. sept 1st is included in thetransfer period.

What I believe puts a more restrictive deadline is the one set by the FIGC for Serie A transfers - 31st of August - and this one seems to have remained as set originally, despite the start of the Serie A having been delayed until Sept 10th.

I believe this is not his price but only what it would cost Roma to get him on loan for a season. this is not a definitive sale but just a temporary loan with the right for Roma to buy out - some sources say HALF, others ALL of - Vucinic's rights at the end of the loan.

COME ON SIGN SOMEONE
Ancelotti's comments on the AC Milan website (Italian) include very nice words about Kaka, also mentioning again that he will never leave Milan.
Kaka's name mentioned with Maldini, Gattuso, and Pirlo as a symbol of Milan carries so much weight as he's non-Italian. These are pleasant words from Ancelotti on Kaka's loyalty to Milan and it does feel nice to hear it once again.
:p017: And this gives us also the assurance that we'll always stick to family, even if it's Ronaldinho we're talking about! ;)

Wether it's a loan, a 50-50 deal or a complete deal, they have secured him for a cheap price.
Could have been an interesting option.

that's true, but he is also a relatively uproven player and would also take up a non-EU spot. I believe that in the long run, it would be better for Milan to see how he develops in Roma and if he does strike it big, then go for him. True, he would be much more expensive but we would need proven players to keep the team competitive all the time ... growing talent is a good thing but it takes time to fully develop a player ... and you always risk to invest time and money in a youngster, who in the end would turn out to be a one-day wonder. From this aspect, I think we would be better off paying more for an already established Vucinic, rather get him now and end his career on the Milan bench.
Anyway, Roma seem to have bought him from Lecce as Vucinic ahs signed a 5-year deal with them .. not sure for how much though but they sold Cufre to Monaco to finance the transfer.

My point is that there could very well be something more to this, let's not get carried away right now as by the end of the day there could be more news.
I read this Foggia to Lazio thing on another forum. A member heard it on Sky Italia before it even appeared on Gazzetta but didn't post it here cause I wasn't sure how true it might have been. Yeah we have slightly over 24 hours left
Technically, each transfer is not finalized unless the player passes the medical
In the last-minute transfers, however, usually the medicals are finalized later on (after the deadline), and the transfer gets registered just in time....it's theoritically a risky move for the purchasing team, but that's what you get when you leave everything to the very last minute
