1.) A great central defender is a must. Although we all knew that, it is now crystal clear that our best defender is Maldini and he's leaving. A partner for Thiago must be bought and Agger could be the one. Santacroce is good, and has lots of potential but it seems unlikely Berlu and Zamparini will sit down together and trade. But if it happens, would be great.

2.) Gourcuff MUST be brought back and given first team spot on Seedorf's expense.

3.) Flamini should be made a permanent RB if we don't get a better one, which is again very unlikely since there are few that fit the description and don't cost too much. Of course, Daniel Alves is the best out there but is too expensive.

4.) I am not so sure anymore we need a striker. Our attack is the best in Italy even without Borriello. Pato, Borriello, Inzaghi, Viudez, Paloschi seems good enough with Kaka helping when necessary.

So all in all, a cheap mercato is possible.

NIce conclusion....We do really need a central forward...Don't be fooled by our current results...Difficult days lie ahead....Trust me this is just the beginning...we must get a CF and prepare for the future in case things get difficult which will...To win championships, u have to fight...we need that and a CF would compliment us on that...A tall one

That's why we have Borriello. If he keeps getting injured, than we buy someone in January.

I know Santacroce is a rock, but 18M is a lot I think. I don't know where you found this price or if it's the price you think we'd need to pay, but we need to negotiate this price anyway (no more than 15M).

Santacroce is definitely worth 15mil...He's very very good...prob the best young defender out there...I've been dreaming of having Santacroce for a long time...I hope it becomes a reality...

True..but its good for us not to risk it...We've risked so many things...We've done that with our defense...Nesta injured and then procastinating to buy a new defender...it has happened before to us and we paid the price, we shouldn't do that for the striking department...We should just get a WC CF and move on...prevention is better than cure

I agree but we will not spend big. We are not chelski. Of course it is best to buy a WC player for every department but it will not happen.
Defense is the priority, if we have 20 mils, we should spend it on defense.

True but Galliani said it will be young players that we'll get..a young WC CF and young WC CB.....Defense isn't a prob because its already certain that we'll get a WC CB..however, we still need a WC CF...

Yeah, no more than 15M means paying 15M, but if possible, not more ...
I don't see us paying more for a so young defender who has all to prove yet. I may be wrong. Anyway, we all agree that Santacroce would be a great addition to our team !!

A CB pair of Santacroce and Thiago silva...That's Hard core...I wish that we get him...I really do..

Honostly I wasn't really sold on Santacroce before the winter break, but he's really proved me wrong. He seems like a big game players, had great games against us, Inter and Juventus, and still we can't forget the potential 6+5 rule which could potentially inflate prices on Italian, English and Spanish players, so a young Italian could prove to be vital.

Neither was I, I will be his fan if he come here. The 13 number he is wearing means something, isn't it ^^

Well even after the win against Inter Napoli are still 12th, and FAR away from UEFA Cup football. Perhaps this could be the thing that could make this transfer possible. It seems like they'll probably be more keen on selling Santacroce than Hamsik or Lavezzi.

Although we still haven't been linked in any way with him, as far as I know, which is just to bad.

Santacroce seems like a black Nesta to me, not only defensive skills, but also the professional attitude.

He used to play deep lying CB, which will cover well for T. Silva, who likes to attack (and Agger).

He is Italian/Brazilian, that is the advantage.

I know right...i wasn't the only one who noticed the #13 on Santacroce's back....Pato himself confessed that the defender that has always stopped him is Santacroce...And he believes he's the best defender....

Regarding the media, maybe you read Marca etc. more than I do (and as I rarely read them, that's very possible ) but I don't recall any particular "protectiveness" that makes the Spanish media stand out. I think generally the media in all countries look more favourably upon their own players than they do on foreign players.

Anyway many players will struggle when out of their "comfort zone". Because of the different environment and the difference in terms of playing style.
