Philly it kind of does mean that Milan are in the driving seat when it comes to Crespo. Chelsea are trying to hold Milan to ransom but if Milan sign Gilla we can turn around and say hey we dont need him so we will only give you 6million!!!

Best case scenario Chelsea realise the situation and lower the price and Milan get Crespo at a knock down bargain a week after signing Gillardinho. JDT does go and ends up back at Newcastle as is being rumoured, so we then have a strike force of Sheva, Gilla, Crespo and Pipo... not bad in anyones books!!!

They dont need the money, so they can say "10M, take it or leave it". They are the ones (Chelsea) on the driver's seat when it comes to Crespo. And with Hernan performing at a very high level, there will be tons of offers and suitors for him.
And for Crespo, it would be actually a good move to get out of Milan if it means playing 90 minutes every sunday. With Gilardino on board, he knows that he isnt the first or second option any longer.
IMO, if Milan brings Gilardino, they will let Crespo go unless Chelsea accepts their proposal, with a huge discount.

Actually Milan are in the better position in the transfer negotiations of Crespo. Crespo is one of the highest paid Chelsea players. When Abram first bought the club they had to offer really high salaries to attract players as it was not such a big club. The newer players like Drogba and Robben have much lower salaries.

So if Chelsea take Crespo back not only would they have to pay him over E4 mil to sit on the bench, but will also have other players like Drogba and Robben demanding an equal salary to Cresspo (It makes sense for starting players to be paid at least as much as a bench player). Basically having Crespo, totally screws over Chelsea. And it doesn't matter if there are loads of offers for Crespo as they can't sell him to a team that he doesn't want to go to. Galliani knows this, being the shrewd wheeler dealer he is, and will definitely take Crespo for a minimal fee. And Crespo will take a salary cut to sign a contract with Milan as he is happy here and Ancelotti is his favourite coach since they were together in Parma.

I'm not sure we're in that strong a position but certainly we do have some leverage. Also even though this would be considered "tapping" and tapping players is illegal, we could certainly say to Crespo, "just hang on in there, we just need to make them sweat a bit first." it's kind of hard to stop us talking to a player about trying to sign him when he's in our dressing room every week.

The wages thing might mean chelsea want rid of him to stop paying him, I'm pretty sure it won't ruin morale that much though.

I think everyone here (the amatuer transfer experts that we are :D) agrees that an offer 1m either side of 5m would be a reasonably acceptable price.

anyway I really came in here to say that I saw Gilardino again this weekend. God I hope the rumours are true, he looks so perfect, best italian striker r since Vieri and with a better attitude from the sounds of things.

the thing with crespo is all current chelsea strikers have a lower goals to mins played ratio than crespo had when he was there and with his current form, i would think chelsea would try their best to get him to stay there and not get rid of him. IIRC, crespo have mentioned on more than 1 occasion that mourinho called him to ask him to stay in chelsea.

I doubt wether crespo belives mourinho, after all mourinho was allready in london when crespo left chelsea and didn't stop him at all. when crespo needed a supporting coach the most he couldn't find him in mouinho but he did find him in Carlo.
if could pick one striker of all the strikers of chelsea, I'dd pick crespo anyday, mourinho apparantly not...

maybe cresp just said that to urge milan or another club to move in quickly...

if what ur saying about chelsea wanting crespo so badly hwmook is so true then with chelseas money im sure they would rather get those 5M from us and buy a completely in form striker instead, crespo i think is still regaining his form and is not completely 100% i think.

AC Milan target Gilardino: I want to leave Parma in Serie A
tribalfootball.com - March 21, 2005

Parma striker Alberto Gilardino admits if he must leave at the end of this season then he wants to join "a great club".

Gilardino reportedly already has an agreement with AC Milan for next season and he said: "If I had to leave Parma I would want to leave the club in Serie A and with a beautiful memory of me.

"However, in order to move from Emilia I would demand I go to one of the great clubs.

"In any case, my next future goal I see is staying in Italy because I do not want to lose my national team place. Then later it would appeal to me an experience in Spain."

errr, crespo didn't even meet mourinho cause crespo didn't even appear for the first training session and he want to get out of chelsea.....

even if crespo doesn't make them stronger, chelsea would also want to make us weaker.

Im sure a meeting was arranged, but Crespo opted to not appear as talks were ongoing with Milan. Mourinhio rightly decdided not to keep a player against his wishes. Mourinhio will never force Crespo to come back if he doesnt want to. He understands its not good for the player, and not good for team morale either. If Crespo insists on staying he will.

Personally, Im pleased with the goals Crespo has gotten for us, but I really want a strike partner for Sheva who imposes him self on the game. Some ome in the Weah mould perhaps.

i too want to keep crespo because i like how he developed into a great player again with us. he was really fantastic for us this season and i don't want to know where we would stand now in the cl and serie a without him!!!

but what will happen when he finds himself on the bench next year when we have gila? we all could see how important it is for a striker to have match experience last sunday in rome. tomasson was awful, no self confidence nor ball control. he was totally useless and that is very sad because many of us can surely remember another tomasson (DANISH DYNAMITE!!)

when crespo will play less he won't be all smiling next year and what then?

i think if we keep crespo we shouldn't buy gila. galliani and carlo have to take a decision. sad but true

I choose Gila over Crespo anytime. Plus the team needs young players, and realy soon. Plus Gila is world class. If any of you seen more than 5 of Parma's games this season in which Gila played you'd agree with me. And against Inter :u56: ...what more can I say?

Koeke
24-03-2005, 15:23
yup shev is our main striker and he will probably remain our n°1 striker but I'm affraid we can't have inzaghi and crespo and buy gila together with tomasson who is our 4th striker (= a lot of time on the bench, coz I don't see inz, cresp or gila benched all the time the way tomasson is)
I think though choices have to be made...

ENIS
24-03-2005, 16:33
i think we should buy gila we need younger strikers, tomasson is in poorest form i ever seen , and he is player for sale , inzaghi is 32 and his career is almost finsihed for some 2-3 years . we must buy gilla for every price he is excent player. sheva crespo and gilla superior atackers .

I like Gilardino, but If we have next year as expected Sheva, Crespo, Inzaghi and Gilardino, then we have 4 out and out strikers, when maybe we should be looking for a forward or second striker?

I have always liked Miccoli (Fiorentina) but he isnt popular at the moment!!

I would guard agianst spending £25m on a player who may not play all that many games, as Crespo and Sheva may be the starting forwards!!

Had Tevez not gone to Cointhians, then may have been the idel choice!!!

And that young fella Zola looks ok for Caligari!!

Sorry Dave, but I don't think that would work, nor that it is likely to happen.

Allthough I am a fan of the 3-4-3 / 3-4-1-2 formation personally (and think it could work with the Milan players), Ancellotti has been playing a "4 defender + a deep playmaker" formations since he came to Milan. It has been successfull and there is hence not likely that it will change.

Im never very happy with a 4-3-3 system, I know its working for Chelsea,
but in general I prefer 4-4-2 with split strikers.

The second striker position has always been very successful in Italy, If you think of Maradonna, Platini, Roberto Baggio, Mancini, Zola, Del Piero.

I do think we need some good strikers to cover injuries, chase games and for different opponents. But 4 front line strikers is just too much of the same thing.

I am also not in favour of blasting £25m on Cassano, who still has much to prove.

As I have said before Miccoli at around £5m could do the job, or we could look further afield.

Adriano is the talk of world football at the minute, he was in the same team as Gilardino last season and Gilardino scored more goals than him, and was only 1 behind Shevchenko, if he can do that with Parma imagine what he could do with this Milan mlidfield behind him, its only now Adriano is at a bigger club he's getting his recognition, Gila is ready now and given the right club will be one of the worlds best and Milan is that club

Thats true, but its worth noting last year Adriano was injured quite a bit and then went Inter halfway through the season.

However, Gila would make a useful addition to our squad.

I would be very surprised if you could get Miccoli for £5 million. If we get Gilardino, he would start up front with Shevchenko, that's the way i've always seen it. Crespo and Inzaghi would fight for the place on the bench .... and because of injuries and form, Crespo has won that race so far.

If you are looking for a forward to play off of Shevchenko, then aside from Miccoli, you could try Aimar (although i don't think he's as good at scoring when compared to Miccoli) or D'Allesandro. But i would have thought Kaka would have been one of the best choices.

Anyhow a 4-3-1-2 formation with attacking full-backs and Kaka playing behind Shevchenko and Gilardino sounds pretty damn good to me :D

another name that came to my mind is esposito .. just today the cagliari president admitted if they get a decent offer they would sell... also, soler (valencia prez) said that theyre looking at baros and 5 other similar players because there are players that are gonna be replaced... therefore it seems that di vaio might leave, i think he could do well here... he experienced the bench at juve and valencia and has done well when he came on i think

Jim_UK

If it was di vaio of Parma, then that would be a great signing. But it wouldn't be. Just like it's not the Crespo of Parma we have right now, it's a new and different Crespo.

I do think though Esposito would be ideal to replace Serghino in a year or 2 years time. I would like to see him in Milan at some point soonish.

We really need to sign Gila for the next season, the guy can score goals and he is better than crespo and pippo at the moment ( younger too ). Really, that would have been a great move by milan to sign him. BUT... i heard that he is a really big juve fan ( ****!! ) and that he doesnt want to sign for milan. Juve have their eyes on him also so that is very dangerous! What about this ??? I hope he already signed for us so there is no worry, but it doesnt look like it. Gila is brilliant and powerfull striker and could represent a great future for ac milan. Dont let him go!!!!

I want to see gila in MIlan next season..
Not because I like or admire his abilities, but just want to prove if this guy will match with milan and play as well he did before (like desire of many members in this forum on gila)...

IMO, if a man with ability only like he showed before join I Meravigliosi, he will be a mediocre player in Milan..
Not more than Crespo did with us...
So, I dont want to pay much attention on him..

Inter join Gilardino race...
The Nerazzurri are ready to challenge local rivals Milan for the signature of Italian international Alberto Gilardino.
Regardless of whether or not Parma manage to avoid relegation, their star striker is expected to leave the club at the end of this season and he is not short of options.
Real Madrid, Chelsea, Juventus and Valencia have all been linked, though many newspapers suggest that a deal with Milan has already been struck.
Nonetheless, Inter are prepared to intervene with a large cash sum – plus the offer of players such as Giorgos Karagounis, Emre Belozoglu and Carlos Gamarra – to tempt him into the other side of the San Siro.
Patron Massimo Moratti agreed a budget of £21.6m in order to reinforce the squad during this week’s shareholders’ meeting and the first objective is to buy out all of Juan Sebastian Veron’s contract from Chelsea.
With the likely departure of Christian Vieri and Alvaro Recoba, new forwards are needed and Gilardino has already replaced the centre-forward in the Italy line-up.
Should they fail to capture the Parma star, then Inter’s next preference would be Marco Di Vaio, who has struggled to settle in at Valencia and was already close to joining Roberto Mancini during his Lazio years.
Reinforcements are also required in defence, with Roma’s Cristian Chivu – also a target for Milan and Juve – and Bianconeri star Gianluca Zambrotta earmarked.

F****K YOU , MORATTI !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, some Real Madrid fan (or Inter fan) could apply the same logic: "Why would Milan want Gila when they have Sheva, JDT, Crespo and Inzaghi?".

Truth is we need to get Gilardino and let Crespo return to Chelsea.

Then go from there.

Also Gila said after the match that he will decide about his future in june, and that although he was a Juve fan growing up he wouldnt have any problem signing with any team.

Another reason to get him is that his favorite striker is (was!) Batistuta :rock3:

Inzaghi has been so loyal but I'm inclined to agree he's the week link these days. He's not gonna make it back from this injury, not to his old self anyway.

I was actually a little annoyed at his "I would like to score in Istanbul" speech if we do make it I think it would be pretty unfair to play Inzaghi over any of Crespo, Sheva and JDT seeing as they would have all in some way helped as get there.

Milan keep on buying a centre forward to partner Sheva ie Inzaghi, Crespo, JDT and now possibly Gilardino. So far no real partnership has been struck up though. Personally I wouldnt mind Milan buying a striker more similar to Sheva, some one like Etto. Crespo has got quite a few important goals this season, but Sheva is our only striker who really imposes him self on the other team.

I havent had the oppertunity to see much of Gilardino, but he seems similar to Inzaghi in that his movement is good, similar to Crespo in that his shot conversion is pretty good. His ball control and strength seem to be better than both Crespo and Inzaghi too. To add to that he scores goals at whatever level he plays at. If we have to get a centre forward then Gilardino is probably the best bet. but I wouldnt mind taking a page out of inters book by having two dynamic strikers like Adriano and Martins. Milan seem to be the only team capable of stopping them :rr30: :D Its the only thing Inter do right, signing strikers, funny thing is they dont realise that :nana: Sheva and etto or Sheva and Adriano is just a dream though, we have only been interested in one striker of this kind :rollani: Chevanton, the others have been Gilardino, Torres, Maxi Lopez etc

we should be really confident gila will decide to join milan next year. for many reasons:

1. with milan he has a big chance of playing in the first 11. with real he doesn't.

2. if he is an ambitious player, he would want to join milan, not inter. i am not being sarcastic or cruel to our 'beloved' cousins, it's just the plain fact. same thing happened last year with stam. the dutchman had two offers from the milano sides, with the inter one probably offering him more money. he chose milan above all. same thing also happened with rui costa a few seasons ago. he recejted fiorentina's proposal to join parma and insisted on joining the rossoneri.

3. he is the no.1 choice of lippi at the moment. and the world cup is next year. so he will definitely not move abroad but decide to remain in italy (in order to have a bigger chance of making the 22-man squad). three clubs can afford him: juve, milan and inter. now juve will not buy him (they have ibra + trez + nonda next year, plus are renowned to be mighty thrifty), so on the logic of point no.2, he will join milan.

Eto'o cant head. Doesnt have Sheva's left foot and he doesnt score from out of the area often (he did it last night but not too often).

A Sheva kind of player is like Ronaldo, Henry (both can't head) or Adriano but Adriano obviously a better built but has no right foot.

EDIT : this post is really crappy cause Im sick :(

Does that mean you agree etoo might be a similaar type of player to Sheva. Seriously though, theres teo types of strikers. A centre forward or a supporting striker and my initial point was that they both fall into the latter. They both make things happen.

Anyway get well soon :bright:

we should be really confident gila will decide to join milan next year. for many reasons:

1. with milan he has a big chance of playing in the first 11. with real he doesn't.

2. if he is an ambitious player, he would want to join milan, not inter. i am not being sarcastic or cruel to our 'beloved' cousins, it's just the plain fact. same thing happened last year with stam. the dutchman had two offers from the milano sides, with the inter one probably offering him more money. he chose milan above all. same thing also happened with rui costa a few seasons ago. he recejted fiorentina's proposal to join parma and insisted on joining the rossoneri.

3. he is the no.1 choice of lippi at the moment. and the world cup is next year. so he will definitely not move abroad but decide to remain in italy (in order to have a bigger chance of making the 22-man squad). three clubs can afford him: juve, milan and inter. now juve will not buy him (they have ibra + trez + nonda next year, plus are renowned to be mighty thrifty), so on the logic of point no.2, he will join milan.

that sums it up pretty well. i'm quite confident we get him.

if he's as good with his mind as he is at scoring he would of joined milan 2yrs ago-
in milan he'll surely play: although not in real & chelsea- and he will maybe play every other match in inter, eitherway-
he's coming to milan, im pretty sure-
and money wise, berlusconi could always give us a little gift- so we can get him

discussing eto'o is a bit fantasy football (i think there is a thread specifically for fantasy/impossible transfers). it is 1000000% impossible that barca deprive themselves of their leading marksman, especially when:

1 - they won the league. ppl say: do not change a winning team
2 - they exited the Champions League very early this year, so they'll be looking to do better next year. of course, by keeping their precious stars
3 - they are not very happy with maxi lopez's performances. in fact, they might return him back, esp. since he is a non-EU player. without lopez, they'll be looking fr another attacker, considering that their squad has only 2 pure attackers, i.e. eto'o and larrson. ronaldinho and giuly are not pure attackers, hope we agree on that one.

in the meantime, Gilardino has been heard saying to Radioradio: "Certo, una società come il Milan mi interessa molto, ma solo dopo il 29 maggio si valuterà la mia posizione e stabiliremo cosa fare, per ora il Parma già sa quali sono le mie preferenze".

In sum, he is saying that he is very interested in a club like Milan, but presently he is more concerned about Parma's relegation struggle.

I bet Maxi can do better. He is only 20 years old and came to Europe only this year, I mean in the middle of the season. Although he made great debut against 'ski in UCL, but Rijkaard thought it was an accident, so he do not let him to play for so long or even start the match. Now he got injured and wont be playing till the end of the season so I guess it happenend the worst what could happen. I mean El Tanque's relations with Braca only :tong:. So if we do not succeed in Gila's affair [dont let that occur, God, please] he can be an option too, regarding he would be much cheaper than he was a few months ago ;)

I am really a huge fan of Gilardino, but a bigger fan of Milan.

His recent comments absolutely make me sick, he is begging for Juve to come get him. After what he said today, I really dont want him anymore, ofcourse he is useful and all, but we dont need a striker who doesnt play with his heart.

He said today "Milan are a great club and its anyones dream to play there", he also said "But Parma know the clubs that I want to join, and i will only focus on that after 29 May".. He also mentioned that he could go to Real. He shouldn't go there, because they will always start with Ronaldo and Raul, and Gilardino is in a stage of a season that he should start every game so he can evolve into a great player.

He really wants Juve to come get him, and I am certain he will go there as soon an offer comes :(.. Milan is like his last choice, im quite sure he wouldnt chose Milan over any other club other than Inter.. thats what disappoints me.. and thats what made me change my mind on him.. lets go back to our old targets, tevez and torres..

Well now that you said what you said, I can now open up on something that I was a bit reluctant to say because of all the Gila puffers we have here. I think he's nothing more than a young Dario Hubner who best be suited staying in the smaller clubs. I wouldnt be surprised at all if he turns out to be a big flop. Better for Real and Juve to waste money on that than us at Milan.

we're talking about the same comments here, yet we seem to be at loggerheads. the leading newspapers around the world have interpreted them as a very clear sign he wants to join Milan, while you are seeing them from a completely different angle. maybe it's the english translation from italian which has lost you somewhere, but i am not seeing any way one can see it as he is implying he wants to go to Juve. i am reproducing them below.

"Certo, una società come il Milan mi interessa molto, ma solo dopo il 29 maggio si valuterà la mia posizione e stabiliremo cosa fare, per ora il Parma già sa quali sono le mie preferenze".

gila..if u are reading this..let me tell u the truth abt juve..

do u wanna play for a team that only plays with 1/2 of their passion? do u wanna play for a team whereby no one can create chances for u to score? do u wanna play for a team that has no creative talents..(look at how liverpool snuffed out the entire bianconeri midfield)

with juve u will never win the CL..simply because they lack the heart and the passion to win it..these days, the CL is like the english FA cup..minnow teams can progress to the quarters and semis..why? Cos they play their hearts out as if their lives depended on the game..

look at juve vs liverpool..how did those boo-boys in zebra stripes play? that should give u a good indication whether u would win something continental with the bianconeri..

[/quote] Real Madrid smashes AC Milan offer for Gilardino
tribalfootball.com - May 6, 2005

Real Madrid have made a mega offer to Parma for striker Alberto Gilardino.

The Spanish giants' bid blows AC Milan's rival offer out of the water - including the contract that is on the table for the 22 year-old Italy international.

Real Madrid, under the instructions of their Italian general manager Arrigo Sacchi, have offered Parma £22 million plus striker Javier Portillo this week for Gilardino.

Personal terms have also been discussed, with Real's five-year, £2.4 million-a-year contract, smashing Milan's proposed £1.4 million-a-year deal.

Parma chiefs are seriously considering Real's bid as it would mean the club wouldn't have to sell anyother player over the summer market to clear spiraling debts.

But the final word will be left with Gilardino, who has admitted he is reluctant to quit Italy with the World Cup only 12 months away. [/quote]

Parma have told admirers of Alberto Gilardino that he will cost a massive £35m on the transfer market.

The Italian international is expected to leave the Gialloblu in the summer but his suitors will have to dig deep into their pockets.

"We sold Adriano to Inter for 50m Euros and Gilardino, who has more impressive numbers than the Brazilian, can’t be worth any less," said director Luca Baraldi.

"No other Italian player has scored with the same consistency as Gilardino has over the past two seasons."

The former Piacenza youngster netted 23 League goals last term and has 22 to his name so far this season.

Milan, Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea have been associated with the new star of Italian football.

what a load of nonsense. Parma cannot afford to keep him, they are in bad debt and must sell. Gila knows this and has the pick of the clubs he wants, if milan come in with 18 million, Juve 20m, Real 25m and Chelsea 35m and he wants to go to milan, he just says so and parma have to end up acceprting our offer.

i've heard gila's interviews in italian, by his real voice, and he stated he prefer to stay in italy, that he would be reluctant to quit italy the year of the world cup, that he dreams of 70/80000 crowds in his future club's stadium

+

i hear his family is against a possible transfer abroad, esp his mother, who dislikes real madrid's Galacticos policy

I'm almost sure he has already signed, that's why we don't worry about it.

HE HAS THE CHANCE TO BE REGULAR IN A CLUB LIKE MILAN.
His family lives in Biella, near Torino, one h far from Milan, so i'm almost sure he will end up in our team. That's it.

Who wants to believe crappy websites against this logic and against many elements we've had in the last months?

Damn i knew it.. Milan would back off after they saw that price.. I think Parma lifted that price just to push Milan away, Gilardino wants to join Juve so bad ..

There's a report today that said Gilardino is 'too pricey' for Milan..Also, i read a report that said Milan are close to the Crespo deal..

Gilardino also stated that he would rather speak Spanish than English if he was to move aboard..I think thats the answer, he's following Sacchi.. and in other words and IMO, he'll ruin his career by going to Real to sit on the bench.. He wont come to Real in one condition - only if Juve come in.

I hope we can look at Robinho now. Or even Tevez or Chevanton.

Don't worry guys, Parma are just enjoying a short moment of importance - you know the 15 seconds of fame every insignificant person dreams of. A price of 50 mil euros will not be met by any club - not even free-spending Chelski - for Abramovich may be rich but he is not dumb.
Parma are just trying to raise Gila's realistic price which was believed to be in the 20 mil region not so long ago. Now they could sell him for 25 and say "See, we gave you a big discount" when in truth they would be robbing that other team of its money.
Now, I would enjoy seeing them get religated, then it would be very interesting for how much they would sell Gila once the those 15 secs are over.

Do look put too much into the statement from Parma and Galliani. These are typical things before the transfer market starts. If we really want to get Gilardino, we will get him...
However, I have a feeling that we will go with Sheva, Inzaghi, Crespo and Jon Dahl next season - and no Gilardino :(

F...k!! If we dont get gila and sign crespo then we really f..ed up , again!! Its clear that we need another world-class striker and JDT,crespo are not! Pippo is just coming back...
I also read that we are in negotiations with chelsky for crespo and kaladze!!!! Stupid!!! If anyone from the club reads this I wanna say that im very angry and you idiots destroyed my perfect day , untill now...
I dont believe Real is that much richer than us, we can surely get gial for some 30mil or so, and trust me if juve get gila, they will get him for 20 and than they will laught at us! And galliany would be confused...how?? Moggi, thats how, gila wants go to juve, but milan are too weak at the moment! Just spent some money already for some big names!!!

Just to add some fuel to the fire:

From:http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=276012&CPID=21&CLID=&lid=2&title=Blues+making+Gilardino+move&channel=Football_Home

Gilardino revealed that he was dreaming of moving to a big side and refused to rule out an overseas transfer, opening the door to the possibility of linking up with Mourinho next season.

"I've told Baraldi I'm not so sure teams will be able to spend such a high sum on me," Gilardino told La Stampa.

"Parma defined a price, then its possible to negotiate, in the sense at the end of the market they will probably sell me for an inferior sum.

"They need that money and I'm happy my sale could help Parma's financial situation, and then I'm happy that I can make the big jump.

"Fear of a big jump? When dreams become true they don't make you fearful.

"I'll have the possibility to play in a big team, and I'll do it with humility, as usual.

"I'm ready to put myself under discussion, would I like to play with [Alessandro] Del Piero? Yes, but I'd like to play with [Andrei] Shevchenko too.

"Abroad excluded? Absolutely not."

So there we have it..he wants to play with Sheva...and Del Piero, and go to Chelsea or Madrid....but somehow, I think he will come to Milan...I just hope we dont chose Crespo over him....but if my thinking is correct, we will be losing JDT, and probably Pippo...so why not bring in two strikers....experience has taught us that we do need 4....

Yesterday, Galliani said that Milan will talk about Gilardino in June i.e. at the end of the season. He also said that if Parma will want 35 million sterlings, then the deal will never be done. Parma are saying that they sold Adriano for that sum and Gilardino has scored just like Adriano so the Italian isn't worth less.

I'm a bit afraid now, we surely can't let Gilardino go away like that.... (Hope its just some tactics, like the Nesta story)

Perhaps all the cards we think we know will be reshuffled come summer, it has happened before.

It has been "knowned" all season long that Alberto Gilardino will join Milan during the coming summer, lately however with Sacchi in RM their interest have increased substancially. It is well knowned that a couple of Galacticos will be forced out of Bernabeu and a minor revolution will take place there. Milan and Real Madrid aswell as Milan and Sacchi have excellent relationships between themselves, so a wild guess could be that Milan have agreed to allow Real Madrid to sign Gilardino if they really are as keen on his services as they appear to be. In return, well my thought is immediately Ronaldo. It is no secret that the Milan community has been admirers of his for a long time and they would of course jump at the chance to add another dagger in the back of Moratti, hehehe. Ronnie is a brazilian aswell and Milan already has quite a few brazilians, with players like Dida, Serginho, Cafu, Kaká and Leonardo in management Ronaldo would probably be open to the idea.

This was just a wild thought that crossed my mind, but it isn´t as impossible as it first might seem. Then it would be... Shevchenko-Ronaldo backed up by Kaká.

Heck, either way I´m happy. I would be thrilled if we signed either one of them. I know that many disregard Ronaldo quickly given that he doesn´t look as fit as he used to do anymore, but he still scores more then most. I guess all I can do is to keep on what I´ve been doing for some time now, wait :u125: for the summer mercato and curse :fero: the team for taking one up the ass by Juve.

FORZA MILAN!!!

Mange,

Burger King joining us right now would not be feasible although he is a prolific goal scorer even with all that fat he carries. A striker is awesome when bought young. Gilardino is Italy's future and his partnership with Shevchenko would be lethal.

I don't know if Real is offering a package deal of Figo + Ronaldo but I would still prefer Gila. The kid's got skillz. Ronaldo is the cursed one. He will never win the European Cup. I'm hungry for European Cups. Obsessed would be the correct word. :dcool:

hehehe, I´ve already said that I´m convinced that the majority of posters here think that this would be a "to be put it mildly" a bad deal. However, disregard of your feelings towards Ronaldo, then do you think that a deal like this could actually happen? Galliani & co might not share your oppinions. Gilardino for a monster price tag or Ronaldo who they do and have liked for long for much less? All I´m saying is that it might be something that they indeed are evaluating.

since bierhoff/weah left the strikers that came as deputies never had and chemistry between them and sheva... in terms of style and ability gila seems to be the closest one to bierhoff, his heading, his size, his ability to score so much... he rarely misses a given chance hes also able to place himself in deadly positions and he can hold up the ball well unlike inzaghi

oddo is no cafu thats for sure but i cannot see how some of you think hes overrated... that unless people make him out to be cafu himself... hes a really good RB but nothing near cafu i agree .. but then again who is?

as for vucinic well he impressed me alot this season but gila has done that and more and he has done it for a longer time plus overall he scores more goals

Vučinić is still young, we can sign him and loan him out, aldough he might be to expencive for loan out. But vucinic for gila....NO WAY!!! If we sign him over gila Im comming to millanelo and im gonna kill someone... :swars:

As for inter signing gila.... :5inter: hehe!

Vucinic had a good season no doubt but to me hes sort of average; surely Milan wont consider him for this summer's transfer for they need strikers to be in the first 11

i transleted the news i read

Milan has prefered an alternative if they couldn't sign Gilardino. Il Diavolo Rosso has been watching Lecce's attacker, Mirco Vucinic.

So i think Milan Vucinic as alternative, because Parma want 51 euro for Gilardino. But it's very interesting if we can sign Gilardino and Vucinic ... Gila for starting eleven and Vucinic for backup also for investement ...

If Oddo is a no-go, then i suggest either Seiteridis of Porto (although i'm only basing that on his Euro 2004 form, i've not heard much about how he's playing this season, but he's a very good player) ... or Reveillere of Lyon (as mentioned by me in another thread). The more i see of Reveillere the more i like the idea of him at Milan, the way he plays is almost identical to Cafu ... same characteristics too (pace, skill, attack minded, crossing ability, etc) ... a good possibility.

At this precise moment in time, i don't think Gilardino will come to Milan. Lots of things might change and i hope they do. But i can't see us paying all this money for him, we'll go for a cheaper option for sure if we can't buy him.

vucinic seems a good player and has really replaced Boijinov. Im sure I read that hes really young too. Chevanton, Bojinov, Ladesma, Vucinic. How do Lecce do it? Maybe we should nab their scout. For i second I considered that maybe Lecce's strikers all seem amazing because they play for such a forward thinking side. Thats absolute rubbish though :5ok: Having watched them all, they are all really good players.

I don't think Oddo is as bad as some people are depicting him over here but if I have to be honest I wouldn't be too thrilled to see him as the heir of Cafu - maybe as a sub only.
I have also been quite impressed by Anthony Reveillere but still my favourites, and I think we do need two such players after Cafu is gone, are Hatem Trabelsi from Ajax and Miguel from Benfica.
The Tunisian has dropped out of sight a bit but this is mainly due to his long-term injury that kept him out for about 4 months, I think, and then he had an argument with Ajax over his contract with the team. He argued that he was a free agent at the end of last season but it turned out to be otherwise so he stayed at Ajax rather reluctently.
The Portuguese back has impressed greatly at the Euro 2004 and has kept it up for most of the current season thus creating pretty strong rumours of a possible Juventus switch at the end of this season.

Miguel is ok player, he could do well in milan. He can start as a backup and get some experience, but this is gialrdino thread, so lets talk about our new no.11!! Hope so.
Juve are really in for him, and as their director says " they have a plan to get gilardino and can learn on buffon and thuram". So galliani, be carefull

Ok, fair enough.
According to www.calciomercato.com, which is quoting Gazzetta di Parma, Gila's contract with Milan is very very close and it would be for 25 mil euros plus two players among Dalla Bona, Kutuzov, and Boriello going to Parma. This sounds better than the 50 mil Parma were asking but I still think that was a hoax intended only to increase Gila's price.

Who's Anthony Reveillere?

I quite like Daniel Alves at Sevilla and Mancini just to make sure his name stays in the mix :devs:

zlatanov
17-05-2005, 17:46
Reveillere is the right back of Lyon - very godd defensively and excellent in going forward - something like an Oddo who actually knows what he is doing :). He came to Lyon from Lens and back then Lyon had to "fight" with ManU and Milan rumours circling around. He is a relatively young player - around 25-26 I think - and has a good portion of CL experience, apart from already being part of a title-winning squad. Very good option for a Cafu heir.
I also like Alves but tend to mistrust players who are successful in La Liga, plus he hasn't proven himslef on the big scene but is definitely an interesting option, to say the least. As for Mancini, unless we change our system to a 3-5-2 or a 4-4-2, I just don't see him in Milan. He is a great going forward but defensive work just isn't what he was made for.

Well its good to know that we are actually linked with someone like Reveillere.
It would be great to sign him and loan him to Udinese ;) for a season. He would get CL and Seria A experience.

Sorry I've been going off topic lately but I must say I'm glad to see people actually mentioning Daniel Alves' name around here these days. He imo is a talent with potential and the ability to help us find a replacement for Cafu. Being quite young I can seriously see us grooming him into a champion.

His name being mentioned actually reminds me of the irony of one of the first threads I created at MM, in which my suggestion of looking at him for the future was laughed off a little and the odd comment about me playing CM too much. ;)

sehnsucht79
18-05-2005, 01:34
Yes Reveillere is a good option although his name is irritating, very hard to spell.

If Milan buys Gilardino Im pretty sure he'll be part of the first team, that should be the purpose of Milan buying him in the first place, but should Milan fail to sign a deal with him you want to replace him with Vucinic ?? Vucinic is having a good season yeah but he wont be able to live up to the expectations that Milan had from Gila

Hatem Trabelsi has been fairly quiet this season, wasnt he supposed to be offloaded somewhere else last season but Ajax had some contract problems with him. What a pity

I saw the briefest highlights of Lyon against Marseille and both Reveillere & Juninho had great little cameos. Juninho's goal was fantastic, if we could get him for a swap with Tomasson that would be fantastic.

Anyway, about Gilardino. If Parma are relegated, his price would surely go down a little ?? If Sienna beat Atalanta (who are already down) and Lecce beat Parma, Parma would be relegated. A cheaper Gilardino would always be welcome :D

Say we didn't get Crespo and let go Tomasson, we would surely need another striker as backup ?? Having just Shevchenko, Gilardino and Inzaghi would be foolish. Would it be so unlikely to get someone like Vucinic or Bojinov (if Fiorentina go down) aswell ?

It's not what's required i know, but if some of these clubs go down or we can get a young talented striker for a similar amount they want for Crespo, it would be silly to turn it down in my opinion.

On the contrary Jim I dont think Parma would lower the price for Gilardino at all should they be relegated. They know that Gilardino's the hot stuff at the moment and they'd only reward him to the highest bidder. And the bid only gets higher. Hmm that sounds funny somehow.

But conclusion, personally I dont think Gila's price will go lower. Unless both Milan or Juve has some trick up their sleeve that can persuade Gila to join them for a relatively cheap price (I still cannot comprehend how Inter agreed to let go of Cannavaro for Carini!)

Parma have suggested that they are ready to lower their £35m asking price for star striker Alberto Gilardino.

Tardini chief Luca Baraldi installed the massive price tag last month but may now be ready to reconsider it after Milan bulked at that figure.

"The best players can make the difference and it is right that clubs should gain an economical advantage for them," he told Sky Italia.

"(Milan chief Adriano) Galliani said he would pull out at that price? I didn’t set a price, I just gave my opinion by comparing him to Adriano."

The Brazilian joined Inter from Parma for a similar fee in January 2004 and Gilardino is set to be the next big name player to quit the Emilia outfit.

"We’ll consider figures at the end of the season," added Baraldi. "Only once serious negotiations start will we get a clear picture of the situation.

"Galliani is a great football official and it is only right that he is saying what he is right now."

The Italian international striker, 22 goals so far this term, is a target for a number of clubs across Italy and Europe.

Milan, Inter and Juventus have been associated in the peninsula, while Chelsea and Real Madrid have also been linked.

Problem is we cant trust Pippo, Crespo is a question mark at this point and Im certain that Tomasson will leave Milan.

Gilardino and a Martins type should be the way to go. When you play against teams that go 5-4-1 its better to have someone like Gilardino than Martins. Obviously Im not saying one or the other, just talking stereotypes (Spelling?).

Now, if you can work the game having the lead, or playing away, then having someone like Martins should work fantastic.

Gila and Sheva could outscore any other combo. I think our problem isnt there. With Kaka + Sheva + X we are going to find ways to score. Same with Cafu in the right wing. And with Pirlo taking free kicks.

I still believe that we need 5b strikers if we are to go for 2-3 titles next season - throughout a season at least one of them will always be unavailable/injured, and another one will be out of shape and should stay at Milanello, which leaves us with AT BEST 3 inform strikers - the absolute bare minimum for a team like Milan.
For next season I would like to see Sheva, Crespo, Pippo, Gila, and one of Budan/Makinwa. The last two should be available for cheap, especially with Atalanta going down, and will add qualities that we currently lack upfront.
Of course we need some reinforcements in defence and midfield too.

I think Inzaghi missed last game because of other reasons that had nothing to do with being injured. I guess JDT was prferred to him because Carlo thought that the Dane has done enough for us to deserve to play in a CL final, especially given the fact that he missed the one in Manchester.
One problem I find in the above striker roaster is the lack of experience - Boriello, Makinwa, and even Gila simply don't have the big-game experience we need. Let's not forget that Gila has scored most of his goals against the smaller teams in Serie A and still has a lot to prove in games vs Juve, ManU, Real, Barca, Chelsea, etc. He is a diamond in the making, but still needs a good bit of polishing until he is ready to become a jewel in our crown.
