My shopping list for the winter...
Rafina from Shalke 04
A young experienced goal Keeper...Boruc maybe...
Elano...he can escape his markers unlike some of our midfielders, match winner (That is he has ambition... what can we offer him? only a chance to win the champions league)
a left back that can defend for 90 minutes...
a player in the mold and attitude of Hamit Altintop...

Question because I can never remember: Are you allowed 2 non EU players per season or per calendar year? In other words, are we allowed to sign a non EU player this winter?
Unfortunately I just can't see us getting anyone in January, barring serious injuries or REALLY bad losses of form.
A shame 'cause we really could use a top leftback or (provided Zambrotta switches to the left) a rightback.
Also we really must hope Senderos turns into a great defender, or the center of defence will be a serious problem.
PS. I didn't see the Lugano game (thank God!), but I take it Senderos wasn't a rock in there...

i'd agree with you on january, unless we're in a title race and 1 signing can help us. Example... kaka or dinho go down for an extended period of time i can see 1 more AM or If pato or borriello goes down for extended period and pippo stays down we might see a striker...janku, antonini isnt cutting it, a LB.... but it all seems a stretch.
we lost 2-0 to LUGANO!?? i dont care which team we sent out.. our primavera should be able ot atleast draw lugano....
1 thing we could see in january is a couple youth signings for future.... and those r always welcome

I think we should get Naldo, definitly.
Atcually, in the Lugano game we conceded both goals after Senderos and Maldini were substituted for Favalli and Pasini...
for gods sake, stop making judgements about players without seeing them play

glad to see our world class attack is still dominating.... 0 goals, i dont need to see who played how man minutes to figure out we still cant finish.

this was our attack
----------Pato---------Inzaghi(injury)--
---------------Seedorf-----------------
---Cardacio----Emerson----Ambrosini----
you expected a goal galore?
I think part of the problem is that we keep playing with 3 defensive midfielders, even if you put Pirlo in the middle...
we were better when we had
----Pirlo----
Gattuso, Seedorf
----Kaka'/Rui----
SANT, I think it's time to change your signature :D
Hi Stitch... you're right... any suggestions???

That goes to show our limitations...if Kaka n dinho are not havin a good game....then set plays are our only chance of scoring...
we need a midfielder who can give us atleast 10 goals per season...

stop making excuses for our attack, 2 things happened.. either carlos tactics suck, or the players r overrated. i'm gonna say both. pippo is DONE...seedorf is DONE, pato is degressing thanx to carlo
Hi Stitch... you're right... any suggestions???
:) i was going to suggest the replacement of "Champions league" to "UEFA Cup" in your previous sig
Pato and Inzaghi can score Lugano, but not with Seedorf being the only ball suplier..
Seedorf is a good midfielder, but playing him as the only AM doesn't work, last season showed this enough times.
Not sure where to talk about this, but as it's kind of a transfer i'll chat about it here. Apologies if there's a thread already open about this ... but, well i'm too lazy to look.
After the Lugano disaster, Ancelotti is said to have had a massive go at the players (quite rightly to i think) and had a meeting with the bald one. Now it seems his position is under threat and he could be replaced if results this month are unfavourable, some also say if he loses against Genoa he could be gone.
They're talking about Donadoni or Rijkaard replacing him! Now i don't want that at all. Ancelotti is better than Donadoni and at least on a par with Rijkaard. Considering how Ronaldinho got on with the Dutchman, i don't see how getting Frank is the right decision. I hope this is all nonsense, as losing Ancelotti is one transfer i don't want to happen.
I couldn't agree with you more, Jim.
The thing is that we had no preseason for our new players and kaka and borriello were injured so this September is actually our preseason and time to gel players into a homogeneous mix.
Hopefully our problems from week 1 (lack of finishing) are over and the time is here to start winning.
Genova or no Genova, Carlo has lost the strings of this team last season, and this season we cant fighjt for the scudetto with Ancelotti's playing ideas. Which are non existant.
Milan will most likely not go for Rijkaard as now we have bought Ronaldinho, but for Donadoni. Who is also not good enough for Milan...
I dont know what to say, Im sure Carlo has lost confidence of the players and authority. But I dont see any caoches available. Maybe Billy or Baresi. Like Guardiola took over in Barcelona. Or just let Paolo Maldini sit on the bench and do the job :)

you wanted him to stop using the 4-3-2-1 formation, and he did, he used the 4-2-3-1 formation, lost, and got bashed for it... i just dont get what the fans want from Carlo..
1)he's not getting the players he wants
2)the 2 fit strikers are a 35 years old and a 19 years old(no disrespect to both of them)
other managers would have been long gone(quite, not sacked) if they were put into his position...
imo, i dont expect Carlo to be sacked after the 2nd match(if its a loss) nor in middle season(unless we're in the relegation zone), remember, we're not Chelsea nor some Serie B team trying to stay in Serie A..
if Carlo fails to deliver results this season, he would get sacked by the end of the season, and that is a thing i'm sure of.

he didnt stop, he started with 4-3-2-1 but chenged it in half time after we looked lost again. He lost becouse we are in tactical chaos, and if that is something you cant see that I really, really cant explain it more.
Other managers would have quit becouse they have...you know what. He doesnt. This year HE HAS GOOD ENOUGH TEAM for the scudetto fight.
Im sure we will trash Genova on sunday, our players can play as hell when they want to. But, when they want to.
Berlusconi left Carlo on the bench simply becouse he was the only coach that would shut op and let Silvio bring the players he wants, not the coach. Otherwise Carlo would be sacked after losing CL place last season.
donadoni and Rijkaard are no better then Ancelotti, Donadoni is even worse coach. Rijkaard is similar.

you just answered yourself why we dont win more...
the players just need that extra motivation, that blow the management recieved and sent them on a buying spree..
if it is true that Carlo had a go at the players, they do deserve it because they can only blame themselves for not scoring(considering they had multiple chances)

two little particulars about Carletto: he lighted a cigarette when he was on the bench, and absolutely it is forbidden.
Yesterday then , for the first time since 2001 his first year as Milan coach, Ancelotti didn't go to the press conference.
imo, he is not the responsible fot this situation, yes, sure he made mistakes but if you have not the players you need....
I disagree with Ace, I think he will be sacrified because he is the perfect reason to explain this season Milan failure.
Or Ace, do you really think that Galliani (read Berluskoni) admit to be the only responsible?

if there is someone to be blamed it is Berlusconi and the players...
how can you explain a team losing 5-0 to Chelsea on one day and then going on to thrash Juve 4-1 on another day... yes Juve were mostly youth players, but still..
or.... how can you explain a team playing so poor throughout the season and in the last couple of weeks almost destroying every team they played against... with the same tactics been played the whole season.
but, i dont deny the fact that Carlo has made some wrong moves here and there. but also you should deny the fact that its not only his fault we lost/will lose

sorry, Ace I agree with you except for this your speech.
I do think the board has already decided: firing Carletto could be a good answer to the tifosi in order to keep them calm again for a little.
Remember we are talking about a smart politician, anyway a negative person, an outlaw, imo, but he and his stuff are capable in useing the brain.
So, imo, where is a better way in order to escape from this Milan disaster that to fire 'mortadella man'? (Arrigo Sacchi said the same days ago....)
Genoa, a very delicate game.

Kaka and Dinho are actually strikers in our system... Pirlo and Seedorf need to take more shots at goal, then the strikers can get to tap in some rebounds... Pippo would love that.
We also need to improve our set plays... we need to score from atleast 30% of our set plays... we seem to be week in that area.

I think Ancelotti will be fired sooner or later this season. Maybe not after Sunday's game but when things gets rough (and I believe things will be very rough for this team this season again), the management will have no choice but to sacrifice him. Now whether or not that's a good thing remains to be seen because we don't know who the replacement will be. To me, firing Ancelotti may not be as bad a move as many here think it is for several reasons.
First, Ancelotti plays favorites with players. Guys like Seedorf never gets replaced no matter how bad they play. Seedorf seems to have a lot of power behind the scenes for no reason. This is not good for team chemistry because there are guys sitting on the bench who can contribute better but can't get the opportunity to do so.
Secondly, Ancelotti is lousy at developing young players. He has been here for 8 years now, and which young player did he develop over the years? Kaka is the only one jumps to my mind but Ancelotti didn't really develop him because Kaka was ready to play when he came over. With this team currently in the rebuilding mode, the ability to develop young players is one of the biggest key to our coach.
Third of all, Ancelotti has simply been here too long. Look, he is a great coach who has brought us many trophies, but at some point, enough is enough. The playres have simply tuned him out. Some of you guys have been talking about how our players aren't as motivated as they should in games, but isn't it the coach's job to motivate his players? Ancelotti no longer has any tricks up his sleeves to motivate his players and a fresh coach is needed if that is the case.
Lastly, firing Ancelotti will put all the pressure on the management to finally start doing their job right. You guys probably don't need to be reminded of how badly we performed on the market the last few seasons. Even this past summer, with our management supposedly went on a "spending spree", we actually only spent 5 million euros on the market. That is less than our transfer budget for the last few years and even less than some serie B team's budget. With this kind of investment, is it really wonder that our team can't challenge Inter for the Scudetto? Not to me. Sure, we brought in some nice players, but we still didn't deliver on the three positions we needed most, a finisher up front, a world class central defender and a goalkeeper. After all those years of underperforming, this team no longer had the luxury to wait for more investments. They need to make the right signings and they need to make them right now! But with Ancelotti in charge, the management can do whatever they want with the team because Carlo will never say anything. Without him, the new coach will most likely have more backbone and stand up to the management instead of getting pushed around all the time. And that, is better for the future of this team.
Of course, firing Ancelotti has its risk factors, especially if the replacement is Donadoni, who flat out stunk as a coach for the national team. But I just want to say that Ancelotti leaving could be a blessing in disguise and a move we desperately needed to get this team back in shape.

1) I agree, but at the same time you have to ask why a defender is not purchased this summer (forgive me about the quality of Senderos. I'm just not sure).
2) I think you are making the assumption that players on the bench can, and I doubt that too. Brocchi, Emerson ... The only one that I think he misses is Gourcuff, but even then Gourcuff's performance at MIlan is not great. You can say whatever you want about Gourcuff now; but remember he is playing in the French's league.
Nor is Milan a team that develops youth player. Milan is not Arsenal; developing youth player has almost never been the top priority of the Milan organization, until just probably recently.
I also disagree with you on this point about not develpoing youth player: Paloschi does get chance sto play last year, and also remember that he would have stayed had Shevchenko not come (don't tell me Ancelotti is the one asking to buy Sheva).
Being too long in Milan is a bad reason. Think about Ferguson.... and they won 2 cups last year.
And if carlo supposingly say nothing, why will other coach (and who are they) do?
But we'll see what happens.... :)

Why didn't we sign a great defender this summer? See my last point and you will understand why. The situation here is simple, Ancelotti gets no respect from the management. They simply do not care what he needs to build a good team, otherwise, Shevchenko wouldn't be back here and we would instead be cheering for Berbatov.
As far as developing young players is concerned, I agree with you on the point that Milan is not a team good at developing young talent. That has never been the Milan style to develop our own superstars, no matter how much Galliani believes so. But in the meantime, we also have to look at the fact that none of the young talent Ancelotti has had actually improved into stars under Ancelotti. Gourcuff was benched at all times; Pato is only a couple more bad performances away from giving his spot to Shevchenko permanently; Paloschi has already left; and who knows what is going to happen with the two young Uruaguay players. The management was stupid to make developing young players our primary market objective especially with Ancelotti's track record with young players.
When I wrote my post, I knew somebody would compare Ancelotti to Ferguson. And here is why Ancelotti cannot do what Ferguson did with Man U. In Manchester, Ferguson gets practically a brand new team every five to seven years. From the days of Ince to Beckham to C Ronaldo. That's three generations of players in less than 20 years. Here in Milan, we use one squad of players for over 10 years. ManU always has new and young players who are willing to listen to Ferguson's mentoring. Here in Milan, we have a whole roster of players who are sick and tired of listening Ancelotti's words. That is why we have to have new coaches every once in a while. You simply cannot have the same coach and players for that long and still hope they have enough passion for one another to fight hard every game.
Now onto the new coach. Based on my observations, not many coaches in today's soccer world allow their bosses to push them around as much as Ancelotti. Ancelotti just seems like he doesn't really care about what happens in the market. Now a new coach will have to protect his own repurations, which means they will have to get good results with this team. And to do that, he will need good players that fit into his style of play. That means, the coach will have to fight the management to get what he needs just for his personal reputation before anything else. Besides, most young coaches nowadays are more violatile to begin with (see Mourinho, Schuster, etc), so that's why I believe a new coach will be able to demand more players and support from the management.

1. I really do'nt know why you attribute it to the coach for not bringing the player and not attribute it Berlusconi. I would like to see an example of a coach who will be daring enough to say, "No Shevchenko" and actually made it.
2. In response to youth player, I think the players you mentioned is largely unjustified.
First, how many coaches actually make their own stars from scratch? Messi? Then how about Kaka`? Wenger? But like you said Milan and Arsenal is different in that regard...
Second, Gourcuff is a mystery. I don't know why he didn't perform for MIlan at all, but I agree that perhaps Ancelotti could do a better job.
Third, Paloschi has nothing to do with Ancelotti. We all know why he left us (for now).
Fourth: I honestly don't know what is going on with him. If you look at the way he plays, and I maintain, he is like playing so casually at all. While I know that he is very comfortable dribbling with the ball, taking it seriously and treating each football game as serious matter is important. I think Pato still has a lot to learn, especially from a developmental perspective.
Also, Pato actually scored 9 goals last year. Exactly what happened to him during the summer? I don't know, but I'll be reluctant to attribute it to Ancelotti. He is definitely a star, but I suspect that he may not have the character (yet) to get it.
We all know success is more than just talent.
I hope that the two young Uruguary players will get more playing time.
The only reason Ancelotti should leave is that the players have no trust in him anymore. If the players continue to have trust in him, there is no reason to sack him at this moment. It will only make matter worse.
I like your point about Man U switching players etc. and people want to listen to the coach. I share with you such concern; but at the same time I also want to maintain that Man U has a very different philosophy from Man U: Milan treats the players like a family member, and this is well-known. Even if Ancelotti thinks that Brocchi sucks, Id on't think Ancelotti is the only person who has the power to let him go. Galliani and Berlusconi have the biggest say, I would dare to say.
The situation is different from Man U, but let's not go into that route then. My conclusion is that Ancelotti cannot do what Ferguson did not because Ancelotti is not capable but because the way the system is built. Ferguson might have had left Milan a few years ago then if he were to coach Milan and realized the way Milan worked...
I agree with you about managers being more volatile, but I also want to point out that not many owners can actually stand them. Morinho is already one prime example. Is it better or worse for Chelsea last year? We all know how it all went.
Sacking Ancelotti hoping that something will happen is a bad idea. It's without a long-term vision. If both Ancelotti and Gallini (and Berlusconi) has a long-term reason for sacking Ancelotti and brining Donadoni or whoever in and make the team more successful than now, I'm all ears.
The key, honestly, is about our defense. Now, what makes our defense so vulnerable --- I think that's the key question.
Sacking Ancelotti is like slapping right in front of Gallini and Bersluconi, because it means that they have done something wrong in the transfer market.
We have already discussed why it is important to bring in a defender. Did we? No. How did you know Ancelotti didn't raise voice to the management? Not in the news doesn't mean that it didn't happen.
If it's glaringly obvious that we lack a WC defender, I don't see how it's not glaringly obvious to Berlu and Galliani.
If you look at our record for the last two games, we let in 4 goals in total (with Abbiati btw; why Milan didn't buy a new GK?) and scored only once, NOT A STRIKER.
Then consider the number of CHANCES Milan has created against the opponents, and how many times the strikers actually score.
If I'm angry, I'm angry because Shevachenko, Pato, Inzaghi didn't score. Pato could have done a really much better job, but so far he is not. He himself is like not listening to instruction and just wondering around. We don't know how Sheva will turn out, but just think about if Inzaghi has scored the couple of good goals. Just think what would have happened.
I think the strikers now owe a lot to Milan.
(a word on Ancelotti: I do agree that he screws up Gilardino. I really think that he mismanaged him OR GIlardino simply didn't suit with Ancelotti's game plan).

will you fellas chill, its been one game already and people are already talking about new coaches and how the strikers have failed miserably. cut them some slack, give them at least 2 more games, AT LEAST, before you guys become so judgmental..
take it easy, we will score big next game :)

This probably doesn't belong on this thread, but I'm watching the Parma Anconna game and Paloschi just scored a nice little header. It was point blank and off a nice cross, but still very nice. Aside from that, he's had a couple of other opportunities early in the game.
I can't help but feel that this kid is something special. He's fearless! At only 18, he demonstrates confidence and maturity. And it got me thinking again about that co-ownership deal. Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea after all. With a co-ownership deal, Parma will put a lot of effort into improving this kid so they can maximize Milan's buyout. If it were just a loan, Parma would potentially give him less playing time. There's hopefully some sort of max bid that Parma can make so Milan would only have to submit that max plus 1 Euro to buy him back. Anyway, I really hope Palo becomes the next great striker, not only for Milan's benefit, but for the Azzurri as well.
Me too...we've seen carlo's ability to develop young players, and i think that at the end of the day it is best for milan to ship them out to other teams and hopefully bring them back at the right time. I like palo's enthusiasm and with some time and better tactical training, he should be a very strong addition.

What bothers me about Paloschi is that the majority of his shots are towards the centre of the goal. He isn't going to get much for a top league striker if he doesn't learn to pick his spot
P.S. Quraresme is PURE CRAP.... Glad he didn't come here :nunu: (http://www.goal.com/en/articolo.aspx?Contenutoid=862890)

I don't know if one year would be enough for him to go back to Milan. He needs tons of matches to gain experience and make him mature so he will be able to play consistently. It's just so sad to remember how Milan boards did to him by not loaning him first before he came to Milan. He had only 1 year of experience as starting line-up and it's in Ligue 1 (not Serie A) and suddenly Galliani thought (or still think) that he was wonder kid or world class talent player like Messi or Pato. Poor Gourcuff!
About Ancelotti not giving enough oppurtunities to younger players:
Its not only Ancelotti but many Italian Managers who have the same approach when it comes to overprotecting and delaying the proggession of youth players.
A couple examples who come to mind are Lippi and Ranieri, who are both prefering older players to youth.
Lippi for instance hasn't added any youth into the Italian set-up despite having a large crop of young talented players like Balotelli,G.Rossi,Giovinco. Instead he has opted for Gilardinho??? While Capello on the other hand is being hailed as a savior for Introducing Walcot to the International arena.
The only Italian Manager that comes to mind which can be adequetely compared to Ancelotti in terms of squad and the curse of replacing old idols with youth is Roberto Mancini, Who did not hesitate to introduce young players to replace the old gaurd.
Despite all the critisism he has revcieved one thing that he did for Inter is replace the old Gaurd with youth. Vieri,Toldo, Favali, Materazzi, were all eithier offloaded or benched to accomodate for the youthful players. Not many managers in Italy would have had the balls to throw out Vieri(an Inter Legend) to make room for Adriano, bench Toldo for Cesar, And even rearange J.Zanetti's position at RB to introduce Maicon. He even DEPENDED on Balottleli over strikers like Crespo and Suazo.
Ancelotti on the other hand, hasn't intoduced anyone. I dont understand how a player like Gourcoff was able to dictate Frances attack (and recieve man of the match ovation) against Serbia but was barely used under Ancelotti???

Correction: He didn't assist the goal after all...watching the game at the moment.

That doesn't matter because in his first season he was playing on par with the rest of the midfield (even better than some when he just started) yet didn't get the playing time he deserved. It's just a matter of the coach not treating all players equally. Good to see him doing well elsewhere.

Maybe you forget that after the injury that hit him (this happened after he played (most) all games as starting line-up in old-Seedorf position which means Ancelotti give him huge chances that time), he couldn't reach his good performance (performance before injury) again. He couldn't play with consistent performance in 2006/07 and this was his huge problem which made him unable to get chances like he got before. He admitted this in the summer 2007 and made like a target or goal that he wanted to play well and consistently.
In 2007/08 his problem was that he didn't do what Carlo thought like he dribbled the ball too much (he couldn't play effective football). His confidence was getting low and lower with little chances he got. In this season, Carlo had contribution for Gourcuff's 'failure' but his decision not to play Gourcuff was logic. Carlo needed a ready player who could translate his words into good performances in the field.
I still remember Gourcuff's probably-worst performance with Milan (ending the last season). Since that time, I just thought that he should go to other club to gain something that he missed in his young age, GAMES!
Gourcuff was not wonderkid nor world class talent. It was Galliani's co fault to bring him to Milan withouth sufficient qualification. AC Milan are not Arsenal, Milan are world class team with world class players especially in the midfield. Gourcuff should be vice Kaka (next Rui Costa's role in Milan) but we know Kaka is unreplaceable. It's not Gourcuff's fault to enter the situation, it's Milan board's failure to bring him in such situation that only world class talent can PROBABLY handle (compete with world class midfielders):

where does he fit in though?
Gorky in Bordo plays exactly what Seedorf plays with us, with even more freedom, every single attack has to go through him at least twice. You`d be surprised how involved he gets in the game, and whats more important he does it really good.
Or perhaps Milan could have loaned out Gourcuff earlier to second-tier or bottom top-tier team for expereinces, then bring him back at around 25/26 and get used to the Milan system, and become really strong by the team he is 27/28 (and can last until 33).

Theoretically yes, but Gourcuff's contract expires when he's 24, and having been loaned out for five years why would he extend it?
When exactly does Gourcuff's contract end? Seedorf, Ambrosini, Gatusso and Emerson will all be either ending or coming to the end of their careers in the next 2 years. Pirlo wont be a spring chicken either with Ronnie hitting 30/31?
Ideally Gourcuff, would be sent on loan for 1 or 2 years. If he develops into the player he promises to be then he will walk into the Milan side within 2 years (Maybe even 1). The question is when his contract ends. This is his 3rd season as a Milan player so if he hast extended in that time then we could lose him in the same way we got Flamini.
EDIT** After some research we have him until 2012:
http://www.soccerfairy.com/french-midfielder-gourcuff-extends-ac-milan-contract.html
Unless Galliani has given Bordeux an option to buy he is ours.
For Gourcuff, let's follow his progression and we'll see what our management will decide, we unfortunately can't know what is going to happen with him: he could turn into a WC midfielder with confidence gained thanks to the games played (+ starter spots in French NT), and anyway, our management wouldn't take him back for example.
And to the contrary, he could play well for 7 months, have an injury, come back to Milan and play like he did before with us after his injury and we would say it wasn't a good thing to bring him back.
Everything can happen in 1 season !!

You're not getting my point. I acknowledge that he wasn't playing as well after his injury. But my point was that his competition wasn't playing all that great either. I.E. They were all at the same level. When Seedorf has 3 bad games in a row he still starts the 4th. Same with Pirlo, same with Gattuso etc. Gourcuff has 1 bad game and he's benched for 5. Not that it matters now but that's what happened.
sooooooo, do you still think we had a great/nest ever blah blah mercato?

he;s slow. talented no doubt, but doesnt work w/ kaka. we NEED SPEED WITH KAKA. Look at him w/ sheva in hayday... and look at him post. i like gorky, but he doesnt fit a need. WE need speed around kaka. if we wanna play 4-2-3-1. atleast 1 player next to kaka needs to be speedy winger CR7, RQ77 type. Van Der Vaart wouda been nice. Di Maria will be star in future.... think of this...
---------borriello---------------
--dinho--kaka--speedy winger--
u could sub pato in for dinho too and have 3 speedsters running a counter. Or u could switch kaka and dinho, its irrelevant, but another fast guy who can run at defenders and provide crosses will improve our whole team. Slow possession passing waistes kaka's skills. and you all know it, he is so fast and graceful on the counter.
Him + sheva in 2004/5 was brilliant. How about todays run where he took all genoas defense. Had ANYONE have been near him we would have scored. perhaps move back to 4-3-1-2.... w/ pato and borriello. it would mean dropping dinho and seedorf, but as a team we'd play better. Unless dinho improves his game and runs more, hes really only detrimental to kaka.
my point is there is room for perhaps 1 slower guy... but weneed to put more speed around kaka to utilize his amazing playmaking abilities on the run
I would like to buy 1989's Sacchi over anyone this winter. When will we stop to treat people too gently? Treating people gently is nothing wrong, but the treated people have to know think for the club more. Seedorf should know that he is not playing world class football now, Maldini (with all my respect) should know when to stop. In my opinion, our too gentle action makes players more relaxed than fired up to devote for the club. Sacking Ancelotti immediately and signing a good attacking-style coach now may be a good boost and send a good warning to the player. I appreciate Ancelotti's work, but it's high time his reign in Milan ended.

I don't have a compilation of his goals Dru so I can't comment about the majority of his shots are toward the center of the goal, but at least I remember clearly his first serie A goal when with his very first touch, he smashed the ball to the bottom corner of the net.
After all, a goal is a goal, and it's always welcomed even if the ball hits the woodwork twice, then the GK's butt before going in. I mean, we can't expect to see a goal with an accuracy like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCy_rVBPKio every week, can we?

Yeah, it was a hope I had in the summer, when Lippi (not really attacking, but class) was available. And Scolari was also a good choice.
Now, I want Rijkaard. Not really because I like him but I have lost my confidence for Ancelotti. A new coach now is really a big risk, but keeping Ancelotti maybe a bigger risk, considering our form (from the year we last won champion league).

i think aside from scolari... no other coach could get more out of our current squad. Ronaldinho, seedorf think the r above the game. I dont know if they r geniunely out of shape to not run, but there game makes me think they r lazy. Carlo is regarded as 1 of TOP coaches in world. I mean seriousl 3 champions league finals n 5 years. 2 wins. There was a reason chelsea, and barca wanted him. We see the grass as greener on the otherside but there is something to be said.
Now im not saying carlo is blameless by anymeans. But i have a hardtime imagining any coach other than possibly scolari getting our players back to the top. Face it... sheva will at best be a backup striker, dinho and seedorf r lazy and shells of what they could be. Kaka needs to run but has no speed around him, thus rendering him useless. Pato is developing an attitude problem (apparently), Pirlo is overworked and limited by fact he doesnt have a squad that works for him, and lets him make plays for them. and aside from nesta (and zambro), our defense is ****.
All the kool-aid drinkers who praised our mercato, where are you now?! Its always hard to give up on your idols, but thats what milan needs to do. Ronaldinho was my footballing god, but if im really going to be rational, i knew milan should have never signed him. Sheva, man.....the first milan jersey i purchased with my own money when i was 16 years old (I saved from reffereeing youth league games weekends lol). Paolo.... doesnt even need to be said. It hurts, you never want to see the players you loved so much falling this bad. But its reality. If not i'd still want to be watchin maradonna, romario and baggio.
Back to carlo, if you look at it objectively, wht else can he do? WHAT is rijkaard going to do better? Donadoni? These r our only options until offseason. A more attacking coach? Attacking isnt our problem....well it is but its the players, not carlo attempting to attack. Its the fact when we attack our defensive is so slow and errorprone we get murdered on ever counter.
Why are we so hard on R80 all of a sudden?
He did extremely well on the first game, then came back tired from international duty (having play 3 games in 7 days) and produced a terrible performance.
And all of a sudden he has past his best again!? Does it ever make sense to pass such a judgment so quickly!?
***
not sure about Sheva, not hopeful... *sigh*...
I am one of doubters of R80 coming to Milan but seeing how happy he is when he came to Milan, when he trained and how he played vs Bologna, I still have faith in him that he will contribute pretty significantly to Milan in this season.
I didn't watch first half of Genoa's game but from Bologna's game it's clear that he is not finished and he has big desire to start a new life in his football career with Milan.

one of the keys to use and judge if your team is any good is the amount of players in your squad that are in high demand by other top clubs... other than Kaka, who else is wanted?... isnt it a shame?
i also watched the transfer market and decided to make a comparison of big name signings and small name signings...
**Ibagaza to Villareal from Malorca was a very good aquisition... that dude can pass the ball very well and he is just as good as Pirlo or Juninho of Lyon... and the next thing is that he is not under pressure to deliver the goods as a big name player....
** Butt (GK) from benfica to Bayern... excellent GK... formerly of Leverkusen... he could have solved our GK problems... I think we have the worst keepers for a "BIG CLUB"
** Zaccardo and Barzagli from palermo to Wolfsburg... my my... world cup winners... italians... i guess these players didnt want to play for Milan... but they are good aquisitions for wolfsburg... wat a deal.
**Meira from stutgart to galatasaray... excelent defender but i guess he is "Not Milan Quality" but Senderos is????
**Squillaci from Lyon to Sevilla... in the same mold as Mexes of Roma... we didnt even sniff that way.
**Farfan from PSV to Shalke... that kid got loads of Pace...and can finish and assist... of we were going to sign Suazo last year then we could try signing Farfan... he got the job done alot for PSV... ask Maldini...
** Aimar...(argentine...BUT) not that he is needed by milan our milan quality but he is a good aquisition for Benfica and he can get the job done on any stage just as most big name players... i give this Transfer a 4 star.
** Coloccini... we didnt know that with time and pressure the piece of carbon we once had would become a diamond... but Milan are not dogs... we dont eat our vomit... oops sorry we took back Sheva and wanted Panuuci at one stage...
all in all i think these transfers were to satisfy the needs of these clubs... did ours satisfy our needs? GK? Strikers? Defence? too early to judge...
when we finished 5th Gali and Co said that we were going to clean house and rebuild...
we kept the same carpenter and got rid of some old wood but we replaced them with some second hands we got from the transfer scrap yard... (Flamini is good)
i once heard that Goals win matches and good defence wins championships...
All the kool-aid drinkers who praised our mercato, where are you now?!
Out of this forum, anyway not participating, just because it's always the same messages that are put here actually ... tired of all these discussions that are like "Ancelotti-lovers vs Ancelotti-haters", "Ronaldinho-lovers vs Ronaldinho-haters", etc ...
Personnally, I said that:
- Zambrotta and Abbiati are very good short-term recruies
- Ronaldinho will certainly come back to a good level, maybe not the one he had in 2005 I think, but something more interesting than he had in Barcelona for the last two years.
- I have doubts about Borriello, I even criticized the fact that we took him to replace Gilardino (as I am one of the only ones to defend him lol) ... but after his 45 minutes against Genoa, I have to say I could be surprised and have to make a mea-culpa ...
- I'm against Sheva being a starter, like 95% of people on this forum ...
- I think Flamini is our best recruie.
- I was ok for Antonini but it seems like he won't play a lot as Favalli started against Genoa, why not Antonini (maybe injured ??) ??
- Nothing to say about Cardaccio and Viudez.
- Wait and see for Senderos.
It's not 2 games, even if they are lost, that will make me change my mind ... I think our recruitment was clearly good. Anyway on paper, we'll see at the end of the season if it was really a good one on the pitch.
Anyway, like I said, we lost 2 games, and of course, the messages that we can read here are the following ones:
- Ancelotti has to be fired
- Ronaldinho and Seedorf are really poor players
- Recruitment is bad
- Management has to be changed
- We have no attack, no defense, and sometimes no midfield
- No good tactics
Those 6 lines are a summary of most of the messages here !!
PS: I remember some people who said at the end of the season, I did too, that Bonera could become one of our starters for defense, but after one game, some of these people who said that already say that he is bad, has to be put on the bench, etc, that has no sense.
All the kool-aid drinkers who praised our mercato, where are you now?!
I watched the game yesterday (and recommend everyone to watch before posting), and everything is not as bad as I thought. I will still say that we had a great mercato, ALL the bought players played above the team's average yesterday, although it still wasn't enough. The problem is partially in Ancelottis tactics and partially in the player's attitude. The 1st half was particularly horrible speaking of the latter. However, if you lose all patience after 2 games of the season you are either a world class football specialist, or you didn't watch the games. (the latter looks more probable).
Regarding the game, our primary problem was defense, it was clear from the first minute, and has nothing to do with individual performances. Yes, I think that Favalli was semi-decent. Anyway, the players lacked attitude, they didn't run, they walked. When attacking, the players didn't run into empty spaces, seemed like they waited for Genoa to score an own goal or something. Terrible movement in attack. The defense was exposed throughout the entire first 45 minutes, because DM were not covering and AM didn't even bother to come back to help out.
Now in regardz with the players:
Abbiati - world class performances, good we got him back
Favalli - a little shaky, but overall solid, terrible tackle that resulted in yellow card
Maldini - very good performance, was the best defender on the pitch before the penalty
Bonera - solid
Zambrotta - solid, good in attack, made some flaws in defence
Ambrosini - DIDNT COVER THE DEFENSE - WATCH THE DAMN GAME
Flamini - DIDNT COVER THE DEFENSE - WATCH THE DAMN GAME
Ronaldinho - good performance, WASNT INVOLVED IN ATTACK MUCH BECAUSE ANCELOTTI PLAYED HIM LOW IN THE FIELD - WATCH THE DAMN GAME
KAKA - seemed unmotivated, kept falling down, didn't try to be creative, lost the ball way to often, one of the worst performers on the field
Pirlo - great player, couldn't show anything BECAUSE HIS TEAMMATES DIDN"T RUN INTO SPACES - WATCH THE DAMN GAME
Sheva - good game, had touches of briliance, in general had little to show because the team was disintegrated and the midfiled didn't know what the fffk was going on
Pato - very good, nice technique - couldn't capitalize on it because the rest of the team WAS DISINTEGRATED
Borrielo - not bad, again suffered because of the midfielders
So, as you can see, the problem lies somewhat in defence, mostly in midfield.
Watch the damn game, then run into conclusions, if you saw something different then I urge you to point my flaws out. Watching football IS NOT watching how the ball hits the net IT IS watching WHY the ball hits the net.

If Paolo has been our best defender before the penalty, forward, I would ask you about Sculli first goal? Have you seen the way Paolino has forgot the Genoa boy? Clearly if you watch the goal action, you easily can see Paolo remember a little bit too late that he should have block on Sculli.
I disagree with u with much regret, because simply Maldini should not play now .
playing with R80 Kaka and Sheva up front, 3 players that never came back to defend, may you tell me please what is the meaning of your DIDN'T COVER the DEFENCE....
because, in despair, the "solution" may be a tactical disposition like 4 2 4, seen that the 3 men defence is prohibited at Milanello: the 2 backs will not attack, Gattuso will stay just ahed this blocked line, Flamini (or Ambro) will try to connect with the 4 attackers R80 Kakŕ Seedorf Pato or $heva (but only if he has learned english language well :diablo:).
I know you are in love with $heva, but if you maintain that he played well... ok, friends as before .
But I just want to say that Ancelotti leaving could be a blessing in disguise and a move we desperately needed to get this team back in shape.
i would give you rep points but I dont know how. If someone knows how please give this man rep points Im my name, thanx.
You are right, if Berlusconi bought 3 players Carlo asked ( Adebayor, Boruc and Mexes/Zapata ), we would have looked different.
But we got dinho, Senderos and Abbiatti ( who looks ok so far, even really good I would say).
As much as we miss some tipes of palyers in this squad, to play like THIs is not possible! This is football for serie B! :(
Milan needs a new coach right now to shake things up, and new and young/fast players, mostly one central midfielder as we have NONE! We are a team withoiut normal CM player.
Abbiati - world class performances, good we got him back
Favalli - a little shaky, but overall solid, terrible tackle that resulted in yellow card
Maldini - very good performance, was the best defender on the pitch before the penaltyBonera - solid
Pirlo - great player, couldn't show anything BECAUSE HIS TEAMMATES DIDN"T RUN INTO SPACES - WATCH THE DAMN GAMESheva - good game, had touches of briliance, in general had little to show because the team was disintegrated and the midfiled didn't know what the fffk was going on
Pato - very good, nice technique - couldn't capitalize on it because the rest of the team WAS DISINTEGRATED
Favalli - got yellow card becouse is slow and in 50% of tackles a bit late. Played very poor on his flank defensively and hadnt crossed a single ball in. Has nothing to do in AC Milan.
Maldini - both goals are his fault. Too slow and should not make a fool out of his self as our legend like that. Some brilliant tackles made on experience do not make up for the fact that Maldini cant play serious football any more.
Pirlo - he is not God and is not made only for passing. Pirlo is completely out of shape.
Kka' - being injured and also completely out of shape, he is motivated, but legs are not here yet.
If Paolo has been our best defender before the penalty, forward, I would ask you about Sculli first goal? Have you seen the way Paolino has forgot the Genoa boy?
That play involved 2 players, one gave a pass another made a run and scored. Another defender (zambrotta me thinks) had to do a better job at not letting him receive the ball AND make that pass.
Maldini is past his prime, he can still be a solid sub, nothing more, nothing less.
playing with R80 Kaka and Sheva up front, 3 players that never came back to defend, may you tell me please what is the meaning of your DIDN'T COVER the DEFENCE....
I mean that they WEREN"T F*KING THERE IN FRONT OF THE DEFENSE LINE!! Most of the Genoa's dangerous attacks went at our 4 defenders directly, I don't know where our DM were. maybe somewhere higher up the field
In regardz to everything else, as soon as we get our defense together, we can start playing again with the many creative attackers we have.
Sheva will be useful for us.
Favalli - got yellow card becouse is slow and in 50% of tackles a bit late. Played very poor on his flank defensively and hadnt crossed a single ball in. Has nothing to do in AC Milan.
Favalli CAN play against a team like Genoa, although in other AC Milan matches we shouldn't field him. He was poor but NOT any worse than the rest of the team.
Maldini - both goals are his fault. Too slow and should not make a fool out of his self as our legend like that. Some brilliant tackles made on experience do not make up for the fact that Maldini cant play serious football any more.
First goal is partially his fault. Second goal, he was unlucky and had no choice.
Pirlo - he is not God and is not made only for passing. Pirlo is completely out of shape.
His direct responsibility in Milan is distributing the ball, and it's only possible when teammates are moving.
Kka' - being injured and also completely out of shape, he is motivated, but legs are not here yet.
if you saw his face during the game, there was no motivation in there, seemed like he waited for the whole thing to end
The main problem of our team is the way the players play. Our players try things that are very difficult to do ... look at the way Bologna or Genoa played ... simply, easily: running, passing and a shot.
For moment, our team plays like that: walking, passing, dribbling, passing, passing, passing, dribbling, and losing ball (instead of a shot).
And actually, the problem is not the players, it's their physical condition, when the start of our actions will be done by running, then all will be easier ...
i'd like us to buy zhirkov & rafinha in January, but obviously we can't because of non-eu places
I watched the game yesterday (and recommend everyone to watch before posting), and everything is not as bad as I thought. I will still say that we had a great mercato, . Stopped reading there .....please click here (http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/Products/ProductInfoSearchResults.aspx?CatalogType=2&SearchText=kool%20aid&PageNo=1) you'll be all set for the winter mercato :o
I'd give the Mercato a 7.5 too but it could have soooo easily been an "8" or 9
I thought that 7.5 was a rating for a good (or almost great) mercato ??
So funny to see how you kid on forward now that we lost 2 games ...
Oh I missed something !!
About a change of coach (I hope that Ancelotti will stay), why everybody says that it can only be Donadoni or Rijkaard ??
Do you remember last year, Juande Ramos left Sevilla for Tottenham if I remember whereas the season was started and his contract not over ... so if Milan fires Ancelotti, if the club wants Spalleti or any other coach who is already on a bench, they can have him, of course if he wants to come and if the club is ready to pay !!

So funny to see how you kid on forward now that we lost 2 games ... You are right about my ratings....they were high because they were high profile signings. BUT I think I mentioned on NUMEROUS occasions that we didn't get WHAT WE NEEDED. In all fairness how could I rate the signings of Zambrotta, Flamini and Ronaldinho lowly?? :dontkn:
I said "in the event that the Brazilian magic clicked we would be ok but we could flop terribly". Don't just pick some of my words that support your agenda

I think you just answered your own question here. Keep in mind that we only had a 5 million euros transfer budget in a summer that we desperately needed to rebuild our team. Do you really think this club would be willing to pay for a coach? I think not.

Thanks for the love, man! Glad to hear that someone can still think straight.
Personally, I have looked beyond the who and how many players the club is bringing in or not bringing in in the mercato. The most important thing, is doing the right thing the right way. That means, the club has to bring in the RIGHT players instead of just somebody. If you want to cook steak, don't buy lobsters. Ronaldinho, Zambrotta and Shevchenko are nice players, but they are not right for this team. They are not what we need. It's like me handing you a glass of water when you are starving to death.
Even after 10 new players, we still have the exact same problems we had last season. Our "all star" midfield can create some opportunities, but our strikers can't finish worth a crap; when our attacking line finally scores a goal, we can't hang onto our victory because our defenders can't defend. Abbiatti is a good player but he is no God and we need a Godlike goalkeeper just to erase the mistakes our defenders make on a regular basis. To me, our mercato definitely added more starpower to our team but did not solve any of the problems we had. We didn't do things the right way and we didn't bring in the right players. But I guess that should be expected when you only go shopping for bargains.

Well, I would have rate the summer at 8 even with Sheva and Sanderous at the end.
However, I read somewhere on a Chinese Website that Milan only spent about 5M all together this summer after putting the transfer fee out into account. It got me thinking, if spending 5M in the transfer season is already too much for a team like us, thats really really sad.
Yes, i know those are not my money, and we are not in CL..... but would it really hurt that much to spend 10M more, as that would be enough to get Zapata instead of Sanderous????
TO be honest, I was happy about the summer until I found that out.
I do not have time at the moment, but I am sure a lot of teams that are not in the CL spent more than 5M over the past summer to reinforce the squad.

I don;t think R80 is a flop, but I do think Sheva is a huge flop.
And Sanderous, is really no better than guys like Bonera or Kaladze, but he does give us more power in the air.
I really don't know the reason behind playing Favalli at Genoa, as there were at least three options better.
1. Flamini
2. Janku, okay maybe he was hurt
3. Antonini
What goes on Carlo's mind is beyond me, but the question I am asking is, did Berlu instructed Carlo to play Favalli like he did with THE THREE GOLDERN BALLERS?
Gazzette dello Sport were reporting we'll battle Inter for Thiago Silva, but then later on they realised we already have 2 non-eu players in our squad so there's not much chance of us getting the defender. Not sure if we could loan one of the Uruguayans and bring the Brazilian in.

If we were to get Thiago Silva I think it would make sense to loan out Viudez, assuming Nesta is still injured in January.
Should Nesta be fit, I can imagine Silva would be allowed to stay in Brazil for the rest of the season and come in to replace Maldini in the squad next summer.
For3ward- both goals are not "partially" MAldini's fault, they are 100% MAldini's fault. In first goal the players run over him, in the 2nd he was made looking like a junior player. He shouldnt do that to himself.
Kaka' in injured, you cant have grint on your face when you cant run. Try yourself and you'll see. Pirlo is the one that is not motivated, and favalli showed he cANT play against Genova! he is useless, a clown. But probably a very good friend of Carlo Ancelotti.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
People, we are a club that used non EU space on $HEVCHENKO, and that says it all. No serious managment with clear plan on how to make a squad better do that. It was pure subjective pleasure/business from Berlusconi. And we ook like clowns. That is it, no more to that.
Thiago Silva is free in junuary, and we cant buy him as we have super-$heva. Real club would pay for normal forward and got Silva for free. Not us, we are a "family".
To me, our mercato definitely added more starpower to our team but did not solve any of the problems we had. We didn't do things the right way and we didn't bring in the right players. But I guess that should be expected when you only go shopping for bargains.
Milan did a good thing buying Ronaldinho, he is a great player but he needs a great coach to work with him.
milan missed on Corluka simplay becouse they didnt listen to Naletilic ( Milan's consulant for Balkan players ) two year ago, and becouse Galliani didnt work properly this summer to lure him away to Milan and not to tottenham instead. He is a player that can play as RB and CB, and hes absolute class ( aldough had poor first game for Tottenhma, that doesnt matter, he has showed even against England 1:4, that he cant be passed ).
We missed on Thiago Silva as free palyer in january, we missed on Boruc for 10 mln!
We spend onr two non-eu places on Viudez and Sheva!1:eekani: that is S T U P I D !
Corluka ( 9 ), Thiago Silva ( january), Boruc ( 10 ), Zambro ( 10 )Dinho ( 20 ), Flamini (0), Cigarini... If Milan cant pay for that ( with selling Oliveira and Gila...for around 25 mln ), then things are simply out of control.
coach got what he didnt want, he was a coward and didnt stood up to Silvio...and we are where we are. Things go that way - you work right or you fail. We failed.

Marko you should definitely stop calling carlo a coward, his doing job, his a coach,
You dont go around saying no to an EGO as Silvios, the moment you say No, you are fired, simple as that. And I dont blame carlo for trying to keep himself employed.
Morinho stood up to Roman, got fired.and we all know Mou`s record with Chelsea. Capello tried, got fired(after winning the title)....Camacho benched Raul in Real, got fired the literally the next day.
I could think of only two examples who you could say in a way have their say in management, Wenger and Ferguson. The first doesnt have a director of Silvios ego, he has a board and we all know how much better boad functions than one person(president).Ferguson works with two Americans who are there simply for profit, they even dont know who plays for them.
Wenger made Arsenal....Milan was by Silvio(not the only one,but the most important president)
Its different with berlu, his attached to the club emotionally(or at least used to). His a prime minister of a huge country, and he still finds time to come a watch every important game. His involved in the club, and he wants it his way.
Sachi didnt get the dutch trio, Silvio got them. Capello didnt go after Massaro, savicevic,Boban etc. Silvio got them.
We were lucky to have such coaches that won titles regardless of who they had in their team.
I may be wrong but Thiago Silva is not free in January ... it's just that Brazilian clubs prefer to sell their players in January instead of July/August because their championship ends in December if I remember !!
So it seems like his club is ok to sell him in January, but not for free.
Like I said, I may be wrong, but it's the way I feel this operation ... and please, explain me:
Viudez
Cardaccio
Sheva
3 Non-EU players ??
EDIT: Kastriot, you can't compare English clubs and other countries because in England, coaches are also managers, if you go in France or Italy, coaches are coaches, nothing more, except in several clubs, but it has to be written in the contract ...

That was my point, When u are coach-manager u get to have say in transfer policy,ex Wenger decides how much will players get from a new contract. I doubt Carlo would dare to get involved in contract extension.
When u are a coach, you only coach. Thats it.Carlo in several occasion publicly asked for some players, and also said he doesnt want some other players. He ended up exactly with the ones he didnt like.
So according to Marko he should stand up and fight the system. But the only thing he could do is quit. He cant say i`m streaking cuz you didnt get the players i want. You dont have that option.
Either you coach with the players you have, or u quit. And i dont blame him for not quitting.

first, misspelling my nickname is just plain mean... Second, you can dislike Maldini all you want but the goal was a mistake of a Central Back + Left Back... I am not even saying that Central Defenders MUST back each other up..
Kaka after the friendly already said he felt no more pain. And that was before Genoa game. I respect him a lot, but against Genoa he was one of the worst players, worse than Ronaldinho if you ask me.
Pirlo on the other hand was trying to make the best out of situation on the field, - no unnecessary ball loses, no diving..
And regarding Sheva - I pray the day he starts scoring comes faster, so we can come back to this conversation again.

If we loan out Viudez to free up a non-eu spot (i take it it can work like this?) for Silva, in the summer when Viudez comes back from his loan, what happens then? Would Silva take up one of our newly allocated non-eu spots or would we have to loan Viudez out again? It's all a bit confusing

2 summers ago.. carlo asked for luca toni and ribery... he got emerson
this summer he asked for a proven goal scorer CF, named eto'o, drogba, adebayor, amauri and berbatov.... he got ronaldinho, sheva, and borriello
he also asked to reinforce defense asking for zapata. He also requested boruc. And by request i mean he came out and said he likes these players would like them in milan in a polite way.... he didnt mourinho it andsay buy me this or else.
Point is, im sure behind closed doors he requested it a little more fervently.... but galliani didnt come thru. I believe berlusconi had some to do w/ it, but it clearly wasnt a monetary issue. Galliani decided to gamble on a CF (borriello) and buy a playmaker.... the opposite should have been case... te should have gotten adebayor or berbatov (who would have been cheaper to us considering we're not english) or eto. And then signed a young playaker/(perhaps winger type) w/ upside.

I dont dislike Maldini - Maldini is my football GOD! Disliking somone and saying truth about his performance has nothing to do with each other. At first Gonoa goal, the player that scored was Maldini's player. The ball pas played and Maldini lost his man who went on to score. 2nd goal is also his fault. Maldini is my football hero, but its his fauld for BOTH goals. I dont like that fact either, but its true. Please, pleeeease be real and odnt ever say again that I dislike Maldini!!!

$heva can start scoreing 3 goals a game, he is still a traitor and not a Milan legend any more. As far as Im concerned. if he comes back to playing great football again I will admit that I was wrong and that you were right about him.
Again, apologiest for the nickname thing. Dont take it personally.

Carlo ask for some F1 cars and got some mini, lada, lotus and other crap... cant really blame him... but i wish i could giv B&G a real Jamaican Page... we would get wat we want on the pitch...
Am I the only one who regrets selling Gila?
it looks like it wasn't HIM after all. Even CR7, Messi and Benzema would stink in today's Milan.
Too early to tell if selling Gila is a mistake, but I can see another Borriello coming...
Either you coach with the players you have, or u quit. And i dont blame him for not quitting.
It's the way it is in Italy or France and some other countries with some exceptions (in France, I know that Claude Puel has a manager role in Lyon, it was a condition to come there for example) ... anyway, mrki is the only one to blame Carlo not to quit ... lol
Can we stop this finger-pointing at SOMEONE who is responsible for the poor beginning of the season? Can we once step back, take a bird view, and see actually what happened to the team as a whole?
ok, on my part i wish for it to end..
I will come back to my usual habit of watching the games, reading and not posting
Very simply buy Akinfeev & Arshavin & get a life ACM & if this point of non-EU comes in the way, the send $hevcnenko & the other 2 newly signed kids to Greenland or some where else so that they cannot come back

why would we need yet another striker/second striker tho

IF u remember, gila was effective w/ a good support striker. when he had sheva he was fine, not perfect but he could have improved to level he needed to get to. From when sheva left he went downhill. If we showed faith and played him + pato it might haveworked.... however there was too much negativity he had to go.
In all honesty, borriello is more talented. Whether that shows up is another question, he has been a career underachiever. I hope carlo shows faith and gives him 8-10 starts before he decided to make him a bit player..I think borriello + pato w/ kaka, dinho behind could be very effective
We should have gotten a more proven goalscorer, but since we didnt borriello is best bet.
why would we need yet another striker/second striker tho
Its not about another striker/second striker, its about a match winning player & Arshavin has a GREAT match winning ability & he can be fit in any team, he is a gem & we need a player him. Personally I will enjoy watch Arshavin playing with Kaka than Seedorf, 76, Borrie & Inzaghi (with all due respect to Pippo)
Chelsea had Lampard, Ballack & Joe Cole, yet they signed Deco & you can see the results. Man Utd had Roooney & they signed Tevez & it worked :)

Is Pirlo out for 2 month?
Rumours on the peninsula (???) suggest that we might swap Pato for Inler of Udinese. Now obviously we need a midfielder with Pirlo out and Inler is a good choice and i must stress 2 things about this news:
1-It's very much just a loan deal, though we'd probably have the option to buy the Swiss player in the summer.
2-Udinese are the ones requesting Pato.
Now i don't think this will happen, Udinese wouldn't give up an integral member of their side and even if we entertained the idea of loaning out Pato, he'd still have a few players in front of him at Udinese. Shame because i was kind of hoping the rumour would say we were swapping Kaladze & Emerson for Zapata & Inler :delol:
What I'm about to say doesn't concern the winter mercato (sorry ) but the next summer mercato. On Wikipedia (I know, great source) it says that the Brazilian midfielder Arouca's contract runs out April 30th 2009.
Now I admit I don't get to watch a lot of the Brazilian league, but as far as I remember Brasileiro spoke fondly of this guy. Arouca turned 22 a month ago and has already played nearly 200 games for Fluminense (again according to Wiki), plus games for the Brazilian youth NT setups. He's a defensive midfielder, and I truly wish we'd get him on the 1st of May next year to replace Emerson (who could ideally replace Arouca at Flu :lala:).
Someone in Italy please tell Galliani!

That wont' happen. Inler is a good player, but we can't give up Pato. And plus... look at who plays in Udinese. Quagliarella and Di Natale would allow Pato very little playing time...
I wouldn't mind swapping Kaladze for Zapata... or something like that.

Rumour from France: people working on the recruitment of Milan (Edit: it was Ariedo Braida) were in Lyon to watch Lyon-Fiorentina and especially Benzema ... Today, some French websites report that Milan would be in pole position to buy him on the next summer.
So rumours are starting again ... even if it is not for Winter Mercato !!
...well if Sheva and Pippo both leave...that'd be a great buy! Otherwise we just have bigger selection problems on our hands.

Pato and Benzema would be a very nice and dangerous partnership if it does happen..Maybe Benzema could replace inzaghi..
Did anyone else read Moratti has brought Maradonna in to be his South American scout? This was such a clever piece of business, one i'm surprised we didn't think of. I know we have Leonardo, but we could have used Maradonna's links to players, or even just used his prestige as a lure for the top players.
It wasn't even Moratti's idea, he was talking to a journalist and then approached Maradonna. Now Inter have a great connection to Aguero and South American players. I just think we missed out here.
Please don't say we don't buy Argentine players, that's a poor excuse.

Jim, what makes you think that Maradona will be a good scout?
He was one of the greatest players, but as a man he's only a jerk.
May be a bit better than Gascoine.:ilol:

Even if having Maradona as a scout would give us an advantage in signing Agüero (I doubt it would be a significant one), would we ever spend € 55 million on one player? I doubt that as well.

And he will get to do that wearing an Inter shirt instead of ours. But it's all good because otherwise we wouldn't be able to hear Galliani's comments about how we could have signed him if we wanted to but Shevchenko really wanted to come back. We didn't sign him not because of money but because we wanted to be a family.

Well I have a feeling that Inzaghi may be on his way to retirement, so don't rule it out. There could be space for another striker... and Shevchenko would be more in a secondary role...
Aguero is a possibility. I don't think he'll go for Inter though...

Aguero is a possibility. I don't think he'll go for Inter though... Well there's not a whole lot in our favour of getting Aguero over Inter's having him. Aguero is Argentine (making him an instant Inter target :D), is potentially Maradonna's son-in-law - who in turn will duly recommend him to inter and Milan not only has a large, proliferating Brazilian contingent, but we have only signed two Argentine players in the last six years (Coloccini, Grimi and Redondo)
As much as I like Aguero and I think he's the best in the world atm, it won't be the end of the world if we don't get him. If we get Benzema, who may be a better complement to Pato, we could be all set.

I think this may indeed change... I have confidence. But it may turn out that Atletico may not want to let him go either way... and after Atletico let Torres go... I don't think they'll want to let yet another one of their strikers go. They did a smart signing by the way with regards to Sinama-Pongolle... who scored a double today. Three goals to him so far this season...
Benzema is a punk. And anyone who can look at that one game he played against Fiorentina... I really can't stand the guy. What did Benzema do to Zauri? Why was he allowed to even stay on the field?
Errr Benzema didn't touch Zauri. It was #14 who ran into him. The Piquionne guy was a real (insert appropriate word here) because he SAW Zauri on the ground, actually pointed at him..then when he saw nobody noticed and he was in a goal scoring position he ran ahead and scored. When I watched the replays it didn't even look like Benzema noticed Zauri on the ground.
we need Zapata or Felipe of udinese for defence for now we don't need midfielders or strikers just defenders.

This is rather poor logic. If Atletico make it big, and go far in the CL, they will become big, and right now they are flying. Atletico is not a small club by any means. They made numerous high level transfers the previous transfer season (actually the past few transfer seasons). Pongolle was one of them. They are a team on the up... and they are in the top 4 in Spain easily. They tied up their rather shaky defense from last season with Ujfalusi (we should have got him!) and Heitinga (!!! Capped 42 times by his national team)... this is a team on the rise. Outside of Italy, they are my favorite team. If the EPL is so big, why did Spanish teams get so many players from England this transfer season?
If anything English teams on a whole had a rather poor transfer season...
Benzema? I can think of several players better than him. I'll pass.
And no, we're not going to rebuy Gilardino... he simply didn't cut it. He's a midtable striker... Borriello may turn out to be very different (because of his stronger physique).

I don't like Benzema either.I think he's way overrated. (I think I've somehow inherited Carlo's disdain for French players somehow :dontcare: ) BUT his pairing with Pato is more balanced than Aguero-Pato (unless of course they turn out to be like Bebeto-Romario :pr115: )

Athletico are NOT a small club but realistically speaking they are just a good club and unless they somehow get a huge injection of ca$h a la Abramovic/rich arab guys it's unlikely that they'll be running neck and neck with the likes of Real, Barca, Milan, Inter, Juve and England's top four. They are what Roma is to the SerieA. A great club that might win the odd title or two but not a genuine heavyweight.
To me Benzema is perhaps the second best striking talent in the world. It's not a good idea to say things like "I can think of several players better than him" . You have no basis for that. You did it with Quaresma despite him being rated as one of the best wingers in the world, now he's growing from strength to strength with Jose- who FOUGHT his new boss to get, mind you.
Finally rebuying Gilardino will be one of the most monumentally stupid moves ever in the history of the transfer market.....but we've already done worse in re-buying $heva and Borriello himself so that's why some fear it :p146:

Ancelotti seems to like Flamini... say is Flamini Italian descended? LOL. I don't think he has a complete disdain, but he like me... are not very fond of most French players. It may be more because of a rivalry Italy and France has. Though I'm willing to overlook this and say that Flamini was perhaps our best transfer of the season.
Atletico is not a feeder club or a small club. They'll have a rich owner. And they have an excellent Mexican coach too, Aguirre... they are a great team with superb world class players in every level... whether it be in the defense, midfield and certainly in the attack. They are not going to be letting go of players easily. I think we have another Porto like team on the rise (potential of winning the CL).

I'd agree w/ you aguero isnt going anywhere for a couple years, but i think eventually, he'll outgrow atletico. He isnt spanish or from madrid, he has no real loyalty to be an atletico player till he dies. I think its fair to assume at some point he'll move to an inter/ac milan/chelsea/barca...a bigger club that can give him huge salary, and say larger ambitions than atletico... I liked dru's roma analogy... and thats nothing to be ashamed of. They build the correct way.

The problem with the MLS is the way it is structured... in a sort of conference system. I guess because of the size of this country... but I dunno. Yes. In fact... the official website went as far as saying...
"MILAN - On some newspapers today they tried to make Milan look like they are in competition with another club for the purchase of Brazilian player Thiago Silva. In reality, there wasn't and there will not be competition, because Milan, having already registered two foreigners for this season, is not amongst the clubs who can register Thiago Silva."
(ACMilan.com) That's as official as it gets.
Milan is going to be looking elsewhere in EUROPE for defenders... or perhaps a defender from South America with EU status.
I think we have another Porto like team on the rise (potential of winning the CL) lol Porto has a history in the CL (even before the Mourinho era) and what makes your analogy even worse is the fact that they usually sell off their big stars to the bigger European teams

Borriello is not another Gilardino. How many players have we bought from midtable clubs that do beautifully? Many. Where did Alessandro Nesta come from? Or is this more of your ignorance? Where did Gennaro Gattuso come from? In this you have to take a gamble... sometimes these players will turn into stars... sometimes they won't. If no gamble is made, you will never know. Or worse, another team (rival) could get that player.
The fact is this: Borriello is far more physical, strong and has a better shot than Gilardino ever did. Therefore I'm more willing to put my bets behind him!
Many top star players come from smaller and midtable teams, unless they are home grown.
we need Zapata or Felipe of udinese for defence for now we don't need midfielders or strikers just defenders.
Only Zapta please. Felipe is no good at all.
Benzema is vastly overrated. It's wrong to say he's the best. I have plenty of basis for that. There are many strikers better than him out there. Quaresma as I said is overrated and I have a huge basis for saying that. You rate him so highly, I think you're putting out many exaggerations.
You're out of line to say that Borriello won't be good. He's a great striker and he's already showing good signs of having a solid season. It was a smart thing to buy him back... he's far different than Gilardino. And we never re-bought Shevchenko according to Lega-Calcio.it. Shevchenko came back on LOAN! I have a feeling he'll be back on loan until his contract expires at Chelsea (like with Crespo!).
As usual, I agree with just about NOTHING you say.
Flamini does have Italian blood actually. His family hails from Rome.
Agree about Athletico. and they do have a history in CL. Came very close to winning in 76. Their chances of winning require a BIG Mental step though.
Benezma though is more complete than any other striker of the same age.
Unfortunately I think 76 was bought fully, at least according to the Chelski website.
I wasn't talking about that... I was talking about the time when they did reach big. Do me a favor and read my damn words before you post your commentary on them. Thanks.
Again, you're talking opinion. You never asked for other examples. So what failure is that? Your failure to read my post as usual? Strikers 20-23... Aguero? Tevez? Pogrebnyak? Come on...Pogrebnyak &Tevez are 24. I already mentioned that Aguero was the best young striker in the world, but I guess I forgot to take into account that you can't concentrate past one post....my bad :nervous:

First of all I wasn't the one that said Gila is a mid table striker.....it was you.
Second of all Lazio was considered one of the powerhouses in Italy. Nesta was their star defender.
Thirdly Gattuso came from Rangers which rules Scotland along with Celtic PERPETUALLY. (not that Scotish teams are themselves powerhouses by any means mind you)

You can't artifically set ages because you think the "bracket" fits your argument. I talked about Aguero before but you're too ignorant to remember that. You can't concentrate on making points. It's too bad you're still the same. Insulting and arrogant.

Salernitana. Get your facts right. He may have played for the Rangers before, but that's not relevant... it's not helpful when all your history is just flat out wrong.

when we got nesta, lazio was a power on decline (poor finances, needed to sell) but i dont see what that has to do w/ ****. My knock on borriello wasnt that he was from a midtable team. only that hes 26 and had been largely dissapointing until last season at genoa, and theres a huge risk in taking some1 like that. However i'd love him to prove me wrong. He seems bent on it, i look forward to seeing him get 65+ minutes

Many players rise later in their careers (Luca Toni being one of them, despite his recent poor form.. and OMG... what happened to Bayern today!). He may have been a big risk, but I think he has something to prove now and he's looking in very good form. Very powerful shot... he's better now. Sometimes players take longer to get to their peak (or better) form. I like Borriello and I like his attitude...
I'm prepared that we take the risk.

Don't knock me for your amateur grasp of the obvious :D You said "getting players from midtable teams". And by the way, Lazio was once considered an Italian powerhouse... as was Genoa. Your point being? My point is that when we bought Nesta Lazio was a powerhouse in Italy. That's different from when we bought either of Gila at Parma OR Borriello at Genoa. In fact Parma at the time was a more reputable club than Genoa of late. All this of course was in response to your comment that Gila is a mid-table striker.....but I have a feeling that my point will be lost on you :v46:

Maradona is not needed in Milan. We can sign Pele!! :) :)
Seriousely, MAradona is not a auperhero, he is a normal person who, when playing football, was a God. ( ok, normal persons are not described like that but...) That has nothing to do with scouting but with managing to convince players to join Inter. Aguero is a brilliant player and I would hate to see him play for Inter. But Im 100% convinced that Pato has all he needs to have to be a better player then Aguero ( Pato only lacks a manager who can handle him properly, and that will hapen soon as things are right now).
We cant chase all the players around, we need to play smart on mercato and Aguero is not what we need in nearer future. there are other priorities.
Sorry nut I will include myself in an interestiong conversation that Dru and Giancarlo are leading, dont get into fights so easely ( says Mrki...hahaha...).
Anyway, it doesnt matter from which club a player comes, it only matters that you scout hjim well and that you know EXACTLY how to use him and what do do with him. And I mean EXACTLY, not so-so. In Milan right now there is no place for players to develop. As we have a coach who dosnt know how to develop players, as he is only a pure tactician, and that is not enough.
Luciano Moggi was a mafioso, but he was a brilliant manager! The best in Europe I suppose together with Wenger/Primorac - his assistant who actually scouts players for him.

I wouldn't call Ancelotti a pure tactician. To me, he is more like a one hit wonder. He knows how to play one style and that is about all he can do. A great coach can modify his formations to fit the personnel he has in hand. Ancelotti, on the other hand, requires every single player to adjust to his formation. Gilardino was clearly misused by him but he didn't seem remotedly interested in changing his ways to get the best out of Gilardino. Our formation has been the exact same for years now partially because we have virtually the same personnel (thank you, Galliani) and partially because Ancelotti doesn't really know how to play any other formations.

MILAN, Braida in France for Benzema
21.09.2008
During last wednesday's match against Fiorentina, O.L. striker Karim Benzema has once again shown all his skills; most of the main european clubs are already tracking the player, and in the last days, AC Milan, whose Sports Director Ariedo Braida, according to Le Parisien, has been many times in France to observe him, seem to have joined the auction.
Gentlemen, before this escalates to another nonsense, I ask you to stop pointing fingers at each other and stick to the topic.
Dru, Giancarlo, and etc... we mods are moderating and we (as you know) do allow certain rooms for leninecy, but if you are taking it for granted, then I'm sorry but will have to step in.
Thanks :)! - J

Everybody or anybody can say stuff here(express opinion), as long as its not insulting or disrespecting anyone. So why do you bother with replying to an opinion expressed by smb else.
We had a terrible pre-season, an even worst start of the season, and if smb feels he has to express his disappointment or concern he has all the right to do so.
If me and you think its not the end of the world that we lost to Bologna and Genoa, smb may think different. Smb wants immediate results, smb goes for the long run. In both cases we want the best for milan.

Everything I post are opinions. I was not pleased with the Bologna and Genoa games, but I see a Milan finding coherency and a squad starting to "gel". Who gives a damn about our pre-season? I certainly do not care. We didn't even field a full squad in most of those games...
We may have started slow, but we are going to do better. I care about the long term Milan. I'd rather have our squad to gel than anything else.
But frankly, I'm sick of this. I'm tired of people bashing on me for a variety of things. I defended Borriello coming back and I was attacked viciously for it.
I hope this Milan put the naysayers to rest.

Okay.
So who has what player in mind? I think one more defender and we'll be in top shape... every other department is pretty well covered (with great levels of depth).
Since we would get a EU-status defender... I'm pretty sure our winter transfer market will only be one player... we don't really need anything more... as far as a goalkeeper, you'll probably have to wait till summer for that. Like it or not, we have three goalkeepers (only one I consider solid, Abbiati). There was some talk about that keeper Felipe from Santos in Brazil... but I dunno if anything happened there (maybe Santos and Milan agreed on a transfer in the next summer transfer season when more non-EU spots open up).
Any ideas?

The winter signing would be a utility signing... a back-up till we can get another someone else in summer. I heard we were linked to Domizzi at one point too...
Dainelli I heard signed an extension with Fiorentina in 2007... a 4 year contract extension.
We would have to get a free agent or a cheap transfer (7 million or less)...

Once Nesta comes back... everything will be fine... but I see some need to invest in a new defender. We certainly invested for the future with regards to our midfield and attack. To a major extent.
The amount of depth in Milan's midfield and attack is extraordinary...
As far as Zambrotta I think he has at least 5 season left in him (he plays like someone 5 years younger than his age!), and same goes to Janku...
But... I see your point... maybe a young winger would be nice for the future...
Edit: BTW if you're all wondering... Pato has crossed the double digits with goals scored for Milan (including all tournaments, according to wikipedia), he has scored 11 goals [this includes his goal scored against Zurich]. :) I know wikipedia is right in this regard tho... that's 11 goals in 22 games... ;)

i can remember them all, i look forward to the day when that isnt the case.
Once him and kaka get in sync (they never truly got a chance last year) everyone will fear them. I think there game compliments each other. It'll be better than a young kaka and sheva 4-5 years ago

Pato was hit by a bit of a morale problem earlier from what happened in the Olympics... and articles (mostly from goal.crap) were talking all sorts of rubbish about the guy... he recovered nicely. The goal against Zurich was the start. He was so happy when he scored that header today... that's what counts for me.

i think 5 years is a little optomistic but 3 is realistic (hard to imagine wingback not declining after 34) But anyway if u consider 38 game serie A season, plus europe which is another 10+ (unless u get bounced early... which we wont) and then international fixtures (dont see zambrotta being dropped from azzuri anytime soon) thats ALOT of matches for a player.... hence y clubs these days have more and more depth.
I dont really see it as a winter mercato 'need' but good young defenders will be priority of next summer i think.... a good young wingback of 22-24 who can rotate w/ zambrotta and relieve him, so we dont overwork him perhaps.
ps has anyone seen darmian play? ANY analysis on his playing style potential?

Oh I agree with you... in fact I was in favor of increasing the amount of depth in every part of the field. I called for an increase in depth for the midfield and attack before the summer transfer season. Even younger players (like Kaka) can tire and be worn down... the management did a fantastic job reinforcing those parts of the field, so I don't have reason to doubt them.
For example, Flamini as a reinforcement for Gattuso... f'ing genius... perhaps the best thing that management has done in years! The reinforcement of Ronaldinho for Kaka was also good... and if Seedorf is not playing up to par, Ronaldinho could take his place.
ps has anyone seen darmian play? ANY analysis on his playing style potential?
He played in the U-19 world cup tournament I believe... he was pretty solid... he's a potential to look at in the future. I've seen him play a few times and he's always impressed me... but I'm sure others here have seen more of him.

Its just that he's only been here for 2 days and already has created problems. no one's doubted his passion, i just think he's rude and a child and needs to learn some manners.. I've spoken to him before several times but he just doesn't get it. It isn't really fun to keep reading argument after argument over here.

You're not a moderator nor do you order me around. So if you have a problem with me talk to a moderator. I don't think you have any credibility in this matter though. Manners? Hypocrisy is not a good thing.
Giancarlo and everybody, this is a mercato thread please stick to the topic from now on. Its irrelevant who is passionate, who started it and who said what...back to topic please.

I guess the reason is that they are sharing first position in the table with Inter. i guess he thinks he has the perfect combo. Ranieri is Carlo type, he`d chose experience over youth any day. Nedved is irreplaceable in Juventus system due to his tactical awareness both offensively and defensively.
But Nedved is retiring next season, so No i dont think he`ll move cuz he will be his successor.
But Tony can give his personal/insiders/professional view on the issue.:guw:
^^ The other youngsters like De Ceglie get plenty minutes though while Giovinco struggles to even get a spot on the bench. This past weekend was the perfect time to play him as AdP etc were all being rested. Really don't know what's going on there but it's still early in the season.

I think Giovinco is having some problems negotiating an extension with Juventus so they are giving him some hard time to settle him down. That's why he doesn't get to play while other youngsters do.

"Just The Juan For Milan And Inter
Roma defender Juan is being headhunted by Inter and Milan according to Il Giorno.
The Brazilian doesn't seem a part of Luciano Spalletti's plans this season and he has hardly played thus far.
The Milanese clubs have been unlucky in defence as a number of injuries have hampered the likes of Alessandro Nesta and Cristian Chivu.
Il Giorno claims Juan will move in January and a derby between Inter and Milan is expected over his signature. The stopper would be an ideal solution for both teams.
The defender has asked for a €2.5m per season deal, which would bring him on the same level as Phillipe Mexes. However, the club doesn't want to know and thus it seems as if his two year stay in the capital city is about to come to an abbrupt and sour end.
Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti are keeping their ears to the ground waiting for any further news so that they can make their moves in the new year.
It is unlikely that the Brazilian will stay at the Olimpico given Roma's refusal to accomodate his salary demands."

I'd like him to come here - he's not exactly young, but not old either. No EU-passport, though (as far as I know). Anyway, as he's Brazilian surely we'd beat Inter to get him?
you can sign a none EU Player if he plays in Italy.

its not only because of nedved..he has never used him,at least later on the games..and he has used all the others(marchioni too..)
i think its because he doesnt want to renew hes contract..or at least he wants a lot more than they're giving to him..and thats a really common way of pressure..

I'd definately take Juan, he was excellent for Roma last season. With Maldini set to retire and questions over Nesta's fitness now-a-days, someone solid like Juan would be perfect ... I'd still prefer Ivanovic & Zapata (no offence to Senderos but he can go back to Arsenal), but i doubt we'll get either.
It doesn't matter about his passport as he's coming from another Italian club. The Non-EU rule only applies to players who come in from outside Italy.

Juan is CLASS. He really is absolutely one of the best out there, and IMO he is the one that makes Mexes look better. He wanted to join Milan before he went to Roma, but we couldn't take him because we wanted to use our non-eu on Pato. I really admire the way he plays, it was kinda like the young Nesta.

He's the right age for Ancelotti to play often... because Milan and Roma are on pretty good terms, I think that Juan has a bigger chance of coming to Milan.
There is a problem though. The guy has suffered numerous injuries... nothing very major, but enough to put him out of several games and hinder his full capabilities.

"Milan Copy Wenger And Sign A Nine-Year-Old
Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is following in the footsteps of Arsene Wenger as he shows his penchant for youngsters and signs a nine year old, according to reports.
A report by Lesdessousdusport.fr claims that the Italian club have already snapped up nine-year-old Edgardo Obregon.
The Mexican has already played for Chivas de Guardalajara and Barcelona. The youngster had trials at Milanello and Il Diavolo are looking to invest in him as one for the future.
Reports suggest that the Rossoneri have heaped high praise on Obregon and that he will be offered a place at the Milan academy to grow and develop his football, recieving the best coaching and support in the process.
Obregon is outstanding for his age group and he plays as a trequartista or attacking midfielder. He has impressed the scouts with his skills, dribbling and vision, he also has an eye for goal too.
However, Milan will need to be careful as putting too much pressure on the elementary school boy may back fire badly. Many will remember the story of Sonny Pike who signed for Ajax as a seven year old in the mid nineties, only for his dream to end up in smoke."

"Milan Deny Signing Nine-Year-Old
Milan have released a statement in which they categorically deny signing nine-year-old wonderkid Edgardo Obregon.
It was widely reported yesterday that the Italian club had already snapped up the nine-year-old Obregon.
The Mexican has already played for Chivas de Guardalajara and Barcelona, and impressed the Rossoneri recently during trials at Milanello and Il Diavolo.
Obregon has already been compared to the likes of Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero, but Milan have come out and rubbished the reports that they have signed the minor.
“We would like to deny categorically that we have ever agreed the signature of Obregon,” a statement on the club's official website reads.
The outstanding talent of this young attacking midfielder can be shown in a video on Youtube posted below."

It would be great if Milan could capture somebody from this list - Frey ( good goal keeper is really needed ), Elano ( but it would be hard, because City wants to build strong team and they have money - selling Elano would be a step back for them ), Rakitic ( he could be new Boban, great and young player ) and Barzagli ( I dont know why they didnt buy him, he would be great addition, our defenders are old, he is 27 and Italian.

From your list only Frey would make sense, though I'm not sure he would leave Fiorentina - If they finish in the top four again I doubt it. Elano is a really good player and Rakitic is a great prospect, but where would they fit in? - we already have Kaká and Ronaldinho (who are better and can hardly be benched when fit), Seedorf and Gourcuff (who's having a great season so far, and should be recalled).
Barzagli is completely overrated, when he doesn't have a great defender such as Cannavaro next to him, he's awful. He's no upgrade over Kaladze or Bonera, or Senderos. And we've now learned that Nesta can't be our only top CB, as he's too injury-prone, so better look elsewhere.
zapata, felipe, ustari would be the best the team can do for winter.

Well, it`s not bad to have quality players on bench + Seedorf is getting old. Ronaldinho could be great again, but who knows? Maybe he starts to enjoy again - no trainings, night clubs and stuff like that. Adriano is in the same city... Too bad Ronaldo isnt in Milano anymore, that would be great combination for them to go out and drink whole night in some of Milano`s night clubs. :D Kidding... I just wanna say that you need to have quality on bench ( season is long ) and someone ready to replace Seedorf. It would be smart to buy Rakitic while he`s not too expensive. He`s already great and he could learn a lot from players like Ronaldinho, Kaka and Seedorf.
we don't need midfilders like rakitic cause he isn't good enough to play for milan,if we would need the best choice for midfeilder now in europe is Lorik Cana.

And you think that because he comes from the same city like you or? :)
Rakitic is smart player, creator and he is young, very young. Cana is more like a destructor. Two good but different players. You cant compare them.
It wouldn't make sense to buy new middlefilders or strikers. With Pato, Sheva, Boriello and Inzaghi, there are enough good strikers. And don't forget Paloschi. The same thing in the middlefield: Kaka, Ronaldinho, Seedorf, Pirlo, Flamini, Ambro and Gattuso should be enough.
But I think to, that it would be a good idea to buy a defender. If not in this winter, then for next season. So it must happen with a keeper.
Keeper
Adler (Leverkusen)
Frey (Fiorentina)
Hugo Lloris (Lyon - expensive...)
Neuer (Schalke)
Hildebrandt (Valencia - could be cheap and availabel in the winter)
Defender
Timoschyuk (Zenit St.Petersburg)
Vidic (ManU)
Zapata (Udinese)
Veloso (Sporting Lisboa)!!
Albiol (Valencia)
Gonzalo (Villareal)
Bale (Tottenham)
Taiwo (Marseille)
Mertesacker (Bremen)

Now for some constructive (?) criticism:
For the new 'keeper (and I absolutely think we need a new one; I can't stand the sight of Abbiati after his remarks about fascism - although Berlusconi might think differently ): Frey would be the best option but also the most difficult one. Adler and Neuer would be interesting ones (though they might be too inexperienced). Lloris I can't imagine us signing after he snubbed us this summer. Hildebrandt is as unreliable as Abbiati, if not more.
Defenders: Tymoschuk and Veloso are central midfielders, though I'd like to see the latter here as a replacement for Ambro or Gattuso at some point. Vidic is a great defender, but we'd have to seriously overpay for United to let him go. Mertesacker isn't good enough - too slow and clumsy. Bale and Taiwo are good going forward, but defensively suspicious. Albiol, though he has never really impressed me, is good and experienced for his age, and might become a great defender, but still: a Spanish defender in Serie A :p1510:. Gonzalo has been great for Villarreal, as has Diego Godín, and he might be an interesting option, though with our track record with Argentine defenders... it's more of an Inter-thing. Zapata would be my preferred option, young, strong, fast, experience in Serie A - he has it all...
EDIT: I agree with you, though, It'd be very hard to squeeze in a another midfielder or striker, unless someone leaves (Emerson) or retires (Inzaghi). I guess Gourcuff will come back to fight for an attacking midfield spot, but other than that?

For Winter i wish for a good DC, a good DL and of course we must sign a new GK.
My wish:
DC: Albiol,Mexes,Mertesaker
DL:Sagna(from Arsenal, he is the ideal DL),Taiwo
GK:Frey,Loris,Akinfeev
My opinion:I can't see us to sign anyone else eccept a GK. Because Galiani will start again making ugly comments like we are OK, we don't need anyone and that we rule the market.
I hope Nesta and Senderos come back quickly, with then i think we will not have any problems in DC position. The only must for us is to have a good and safe GK who would help us when we will need him to help.

yeeees zapata or santacroce i forgot him i saw him playing and i liked him a lot (Y)
These two remind me of the days Lazio had Nesta and Parma had Cannavaro and Thuram. I wanted them all so badly. Now I want these two at Milan no matter what!!
We definitely need a decent left back and at least 2 central defenders. Maldini, god bless him, has been extremely slow and can't mark a player and the game against Genoa just further highlighted that. Kaladze has also been atrocious but is still a lot better than Maldini and Bonera. Also, Jankulovski has been very disappointing in his marking skills but has been relatively good in going forward and I would take him over Favalli anyday! It's just disappointing that a team of Milan's calibre would have to settle for Favalli as a second option and Jankulovski, a player who can't defend at all, as our starter. To add to our defensive woes, Nesta has been injured since the summer and hasn't played international football in over a year but still seems to struggle with injury and fitness. At 32, he's not old for a defender but he definitely seems to have reached his peek and probably has played his last season as a footballer. Alongside Maldini, he used to be half of the most formidable central defensive partnership in all of football but injuries and age have unfortunately taken a toll on our Maldini and Nesta. This winter, we don't need to buy central defenders like Senderos and Co. We need to buy the next Maldini and Nesta. Just like in 2002 we bought Nesta, we need to buy the next big star defender. Having a Milan without a star CB is just not right. Also wouldn't mind Milan getting a new goalkeeper considering Abbiati's love for Fascism.

what do people think of marcel jansen at LB? or Domenico Criscito? Criscito could be a a reallly good player, just a bit inexerienced...but he impressed me...well against us
@Ceceves
I agree, that Lloris will be very difficult, and I think too, a lot more expensive than he were this summer. Hildebrandt isn't worse than Abbiati, and for me it is clear that Abbiati has to go, after his facism statements. And he is probably one of the only keepers who could be availabel in the winter. He was a very good keeper at Stuttgart.
Veloso and Timoschyuk can both play in the central defense as in the middlefield. Timoschyuk regullary plays as a defender at Zenit. And Veloso also used to play in the central defense. Specially Veloso could become a very strong player. He has the strength and also the intelligence a really good defender needs. They both wouldn't be cheap. But if they came, you could deport Kaladze or retire Maldini.
Zapata, I would love to see him play at San Siro. He is kind of those young and hungry players, whom we are missing at the moment. But I think only Zapata won't be enough. Our defense is too old, too deep, to slow. We need fresh blood. At least one new central defender, also one younger and faster for both sides.

Im not sure if we can get him but in my mind he is the best option. Another option we should look at is Grosso. Or we cud bring in rafinha and move zambrotta to left back. These are all better options than what we currently have going.
Ps. As far as Cana is concerned, he would be the perfect player for milan, and i don't just say this cuz he is from my country. He is a milan fan, he plays with his heart, and he is the ultimate warrior. Him and flamini are the ideal replacements to gattuso and ambrosini. Plus, Cana is also a leader and can score.
Pps. I am surprise nobody has mentioned Afellay, he would be a wonderful addition to our squad.
After watching Germany in the Euros, I hope Milan never buy a German defender. Lahm is just the best of a really really bad bunch!!

I been a die hard german fan since i was 6 and I completely agree with that. Germany has a horrible defense. but lahm is amazing, and its not simply because the other german defenders are bad. Lahm is good at going up with the ball and plays good defense. If we can somehow get him, I would jump at the chance. He is a true warrior, but he will cost us many cards. Gattuso plays wiser.
For the winter mercato I really don't see us getting anyone. There were rumours Juan was sure to leave Roma come January, but unless that actually happens we'll probably wait until July.
The areas we need to look at IMO:
Central defender: A world class CB to replace Maldini. Unless Senderos succeeds a good backup would be welcome aswell. My pick: If not Juan comes, then Zapata would be ideal, or Santacroce.
Fullback: A left back OR a right back, since Zambrotta can play at the opposite flank.
My pick: Rafinha (hopefully he's sick of the way Schalke treated him regarding the Olympics?).
Those two spots are necessities. Other areas that should be looked at:
Goalkeeper: A goalkeeper without fascist leanings, please! Or at least someone who doesn't blabber about it. Frey would be great, Boruc I'm less fond of now (he's too crazy).
Central midfield: With Emerson, Ambro and Gattuso all on the wrong side of 30, someone like Miguel Veloso (who it seemed wanted to come here over the summer) would be great. Then ship out Emerson.
Attacking midfield: Seedorf probably has another season in him, but I think Gourcuff should come back to challenge for a spot.
Striker: If Inzaghi retires, and Paloschi still needs to be loaned out in order to play, a target man striker should be bought. Unlikely a world class one, but someone who can be trusted to play and score goals in some games, and be benched in others.
Cana is awesome, but with Flamini, Rino and Ambro we are covered in that position.
Boriello (Fingers crossed) seems to have solved our striker problems. Adding a Benzema or Huntelaar now would just unsettle everything. Unless Inzaghi retires, Shevchenko returns to Chesea and Boriello fails.
All we need now are defensive reinforcements. A goalkeeper, a partner for Nesta and a left back. Considering we have Ronaldhinio he would need to either be very experienced or more ofa defensive fullback.
Two players who wuld meet these criteria are Zapatta who is the force our defence is crying out for. The other is Santacroce from Napoli. He is really amazing, and can play at rightback (Zambro on left). the best thing about him is he is the ideal replacement for Nesta.
These two are the new Thuram and Nesta, our central defensive problems would be solved for years to come. Those two alone are not too much to ask for from Galliani.

Striker: If Inzaghi retires, and Paloschi still needs to be loaned out in order to play, a target man striker should be bought. Unlikely a world class one, but someone who can be trusted to play and score goals in some games, and be benched in others.
I agree with you, we need to start searching for players on that positions. Players are old - Emerson, Inzaghi, Sheva, Maldini... It would be great if Milan could buy Vagner Love, he plays in Russia and is very good striker. That would be one hell of attack - Kaka, Ronnie, Pato, Love.
Napoli, that is a mercato problem regarding Santacroce...
But since this is winter mercato I dont think Milan will bring anyone. Maybe Abate would do good in coming back to San Siro. does anyone know how is he doing?
