Elmago, actually, my point was about the priorities: if you ask me to make a choice between an AM and a CM right now, I take the AM to give new solutions to Allegri. It's just for that, because if you ask me, I would want both players !! :D
About Grosso, anyway, I think we will all agree: no way he comes !! :str:
About Suarez, by seeing the level he plays, he would be a very good purchase, I think the guy is WC. The problem is his behaviour. I think since the World Cup, he has really become a "bad guy" on the pitch (I saw him some times before the WC, I don't remember he was such a cheater by falling all the time, asking for cards to the referee, etc). Yesterday, I insulted him many times by watching the game !! If he had to come and be this way on the pitch, I wouldn't be that happy to have him in the team ... So if the guy can just shut up, play football and never talk to referees, it would be a big yes for him to come !!

I watch ajax a lot and he was always like that. :)

Ok, so he has it all to become an Inter player (he's the typical kind of player who would make me upset all the time) ...
Too bad because the guy, if we only look at his football, is a pure genius. But this kind of behaviour is so boring ...

i agree with this, i think the guy is a bigger ass than Ibra, with his diving like hes been shot and then screaming in agony as soon as the yellow card was out he was back on his feet again grinning like a moron, kinda like Sergio Busquets for me.

I like the price to be sold for. Dont like the players that it says.
(I know it's probably bs)
Im for selling Pato, he is far to injured and can't help the team from home. And we could get 3 players to fill much needed spots.

Milan compete with Arsenal for defender
JAN VERTONGHEN could join England or Italy.
talkSport reports that AC Milan and Juventus have joined Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal in race for 23-year-old Ajax defender, Vertonghen.
The Belgian is a versatile player as he can play as a defender but also as defensive midfielder, and the three clubs are considering a January bid for him.
AC Milan want to get rid of Daniele Bonera, and add some young meet to their defense, as they are keep searching for a proper replacement for Alessandro Nesta, alongside Thiago Silva in Milan’s back-line.
Vertonghen played against Milan on Tuesday in the Champions League, and that was his 93rd official appearance with the Dutch club since 2006, when he broke into Ajax’s first team.

I don't want to sell Pato.. I think he has the potential to be great....
However if the Milan Technical staff determined he's another Lemon like Kaka, hurt all the time, then they'll have to do it. However, I do NOT want Gerrard as he doesn't fit, and he's older..
If this had to be done, I'd want to also sell Ronaldinho for €10M, then €65 for Pato which equals: €75Million
Then buy
Van der Wiel €20 M
Jucilei €10 M
Neymar €25M
Pastore €25M

Definitely, these websites have people coming back every single day to read new bull**** they produce. Do you honestly believe anyone from the Milan management group would publicly say, yes we want to push Pato on Man City and sign 2 players who in the real world will never wear our uniform.

Italy edges closer to losing their fourth spot.....in Europe this week
Germany: 2 wins 1 loss in CL, 1 win 1 draw 1 loss in Europa
Italy: 2 wins 1 draw in CL, 2 wins 2 draws in Europa
Italy needs to dominate and Germany needs to flop miserably if Italy wants to have any hope of keeping the fourth spot next year. This year so far Germany has 6 points (total 59.770), and Italy 5.285 (total 54.266). We really need all of the Germans to be eliminated ASAP to keep that fourth spot. Napoli fielding their reserve team and going 3-0 down in 12 minutes against Bucharest does not do Italy any favors. The Europa League teams have to wake up and perform for once.
Same goes for Milan and Roma in CL. The more wins we get in the groups the better. Fiorentina had 6 wins last year out of 8 games and had only 2 points less than Inter who eventually won the CL.
Here's the site if you want to bookmark it to follow during the year..
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method4/ccoef2011.html
Italy needs to have an average of 5 points higher than the Germans to be ok for next year. There's no way we're going to do that, but we also said that it was impossible for Inter to win the CL...

Kaka was not a Lemon WHEN he took us to a CL Win... but his injuries after that have been persistent, and I would bet he will never return to that level again... I'm hoping Pato is not a lemon from the start, and these injury issues have something to do with his growth development....
Even thinking about selling Pato should be crime punishable by death.
I can't wait for the Ibra-Pato show. Whoever partners them in the front three, Ronaldinho, Robinho, Seedorf, whoever, it's going to be incredible.
I'm not sure if we're really going to be making any purchases this Winter, although it would be a waste not to use the non EU spot.

We're heavily linked to Pedro Leon today. I'm not really sure why though as I really can't see what would be the best way to fit him into our side.
I have no doubt about that. At his age, Ronaldinho will not accept a bench role, and to sell him will be good for both, Milan and player.
Robinho, since his start at Santos at 18yo always showed he's more comfortable starting from the left. Not as a winger, but as a second striker. I don't understand the fixation of coaches in Europe to turn him into a wide player. It's already proved he can't do it. On the other hand, give him a free role, and the guy will bring so much movement to the team, will create so much space... I said it for year here, like Neymar, Robinho is at his best playing one touch football and a roaming the field. They aren't good holding onto the ball like Messi or Robben. Thats not their game.
Give Robinho a free role behind Pato and Ibra. Let Pato play more up front as a CF and Ibra moving out of the box to chase and hold the ball and our attack will be 2x better. I just hope Allegri has the courage to bench Ronaldinho and Berlusconi don't complain from the stands...
Now, we are talking. You took the words out of my mouth, Robinho is not a player like ronaldinho, he will do wonders playing with Ibra & Pato, ditch the whole wide forwards thingy, we played best when we had 3 attackers in the centre so why do something stupid like our current formation? Leave the wide position to the LB, RB and midfield. Leave the byline, corners area, we sucks at trying to get a cross in from there. Play wide from the back and then narrow down to centre forward. We don't need to care if the opponents like to park their bus in front of goal, with 3 players who can create and run at opponents, we will get the goals we need. Ronaldinho must go, Boateng must play, only one of Rino/ambro/Flamini can be on the field.

Pirlo scored a great goal today, this is a response that he can help us a lot from the time that we improved our squad with some good players this summer.

Why don't we get Afellay on free next June and we push for jucieli in January isn't something to have 3 young talented midfielders, flamini, boateng, afellay, jucieli, pirlo, ambro, seedorf, ambrosini are a very strong group which have everything to be the most dominant midfield on earth
This is not Championship Manager, no way we'll keep all of them happy.
Fullbacks should be the flavour of the mercato.

Games are won in midfield, you think Milan midfield can take one more year playing 50 games a season, champion ship manager would suggest for ambrosini, seedorf and gattuso to retire but here they are still playing 50 games a season .
Happiness comes last for a team building a project, and that's can't be built around seedorf, ambrosini, gattuso and pirlo.
Championship manager looks very naive for someone who doesn't know a thing about the team he's supporting or football alphabetics

First, this should and WILL BE the last year we see the likes of Pirlo, Seedorf, and Gattuso in Midfield. They've all played pretty well this season compared to most of our low expectations, but together they're slow and CANNOT play 2 games per week, and certainly not 50 games per season. The majority of this year, and certainly next year we will see:
Boateng-Pirlo-Flamini
Pirlo will rotate with Seedorf. Flamini will need to impress this season or he may be back in England. Boateng is the future of our midfield. I think it's very likely we make a move for Jucilei in the next two Mercato's. Also, Lazzari and/or Poli.
Perhaps Boateng, Flamini, Strasser, Lazzari, Poli, Jucilei, Merkel and an ACM we don't know about may be the future of Milan's midfield.
I see Pirlo/Seedorf/Ambro/Rino only playing major roles for this year and perhaps next at most.
Next, I have seen 2 interesting articles:
1. Nigel De Jong was not taken to Netherlands Qualifying matches this week due to his "unnecessary tackle" I'm so glad the coach did this. This guy has a reputation for breaking legs.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=829975&sec=euro2012&cc=5901
2. Fulham Interested in Bonera :grinser:

Elmago Madrid for Bale maybe but not Utd they literally have no money to spend and I mean none , maybe Madrid but not Utd Fulham can have Bonera but I doubt he'll agree to sign.If Boateng continues his good form then Genoa will want a decent fee for him how much IDK .And signing Lazarri Poli Jucilei ??? have i missed something Ibra and Robinho were two surprise good signings but im not sure if we are going to go out and sign those 3 and Boateng and an ACM mid.

Well I meant Poli and/OR Lazzari..
Keep in mind, Ambro/Rino/Pirlo/Seedorf/Ronaldinho/Zambrotta/Nesta/Jankulovski/Oddo will ALL need to be replaced within 2 years...3 years MAXIMUM...All these guys are like Mid 30's
So now understanding possibly up to 9 players will be sold or in more likeliness have their contracts expire, we will need to buy some sort of younger, new talent. That's unless Merkel, Verdi, Adiyiah, Strasser, Fossatti and guys of the like ALL become big stars. If not, you can't deny we have to buy.

for me playing abate and not playing bruno is not fair, Abate is a wide player, and bruno is a fullback, i would suggest we give bruno some time before judging how good or bad this kid is.this is his second month in italy and i think the guy is adapting to his new life but playing him in primavera matches and keeping abate on the bench is something not very good.
i hope allegri gives montelongo a chance so he can prove something on the pitch, and i hope the kid takes the training very serious and pays attention to everything which would give allegri the balls to put him in.

I think it is very simple what we need to do with the next few mercatos. We need to aquire one central defender, fullback, one midfielder, and one forward.
Fullback:Gareth Bale
Pablo Zabaleta
Midfielder:Andrea Poli
Andrea Lazzari
Jucilei
Ganso
Forward: Neymar
Pedro Leon

Next 2 Mercato's, it's hard to say, we'll have to see how season develops. I wouldn't say we need a CB right now. We have 4 (Nesta, Silva, Yepes, Papa). I don't rate Bonera as a reliable CB at al. I would say:
1 FB:
Kolarov, Bridge, Bale, J. Boateng, P. Zabaleta
3 MF:
Lazzari, Poli, Jucilei
1 ACM:
Ganso, Honda, Van der Vaart
1 Forward:
Giuseppe Rossi
* Man City cannot POSSIBLY keep 3 LB's, all who are good players.
I know I'm asking a lot, but I'm saying over next 2 Mercato's if we got Kolarov, Lazzari, Jucilei, G. Rossi, I'd be very happy.
I'd like this to be our Squad;
GK: Abbiati, Amelia, Roma
DF: Nesta, T. Silva, Kolarov, Antonini, Abate, Zambrotta, Papa, Yepes
MF: Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso, Boateng, Flamini, Lazzari, Jucilei, Ambrosini
ACM: Ganso
Forward: Ibrahimovic, Pato, Robinho, G. Rossi, Paloschi
25 Players...sooo many Dynamic players..

When I think about it replace Lazzari with Pastore! That kid is incredible!!
Who said Bale is a fullback?
All of his best games for Spurs are when he plays as a winger. He isn't a defender. He us injury prone and Totenham are a club thats spends big sesaon after season. Any price they are willing to accept for him is way too much.
What we need is a real fullback.
hello fellow rossoneros new member here...i know we have ronaldhino, robinho but i'm really impressed with lavezzi such an explosive player..talented
with a great amount of serie a experience ..sort of just like ibra..could be considered a replacement to seedorf or ronnie (i call it an upgrade). The FB situation is getting ridiculous..just wondering what type of fullback would 20-25 mil get us for next year?

I have to disagree ...
Lavezzi is maybe very talented, but after his first amazing season in Serie A, and I think more especially since his last injury, he's been far from the top level ...
Bale doesn't even play left back...as stated above he plays LM/LW for Spurs. He has a phenominal left foot but doesn't have great pace or defensive abilities. And also, he has plenty of space in that wacky EPL to get that left footed cross off, in serie A he'll be closed down. Pass on Bale....

Ilicic is a wonderful player and I've been watching a lot of Palermo this season and he has caught my attention. While all eyes are on Pastore, ilicic has been working hard in his shadow, scoring good goals, making good runs and assists. His agent said we could have had him at the last day of the mercato and he's spoken to Allegri about him. Palermo bought him for 1.8m euro and he's Slovenian so he has a european passport.

I agree, giving him to Juve plus Krasic is double dose of suicide. Pay Genoa or Viola to get his first option, take Ranocchia or Jovetic as hostage, take the option to switch back at any point. This is the new way to do business.

lol mihan ur actually right that is the new way to do business tbh. i wish we had the money to throw around like man city.. crazy as i see 65m for pato 110m for pique i mean are these people that stupid? if we had just 110m to spend on players we could buy a team that will start a golden era in 4-5 years just with juceli, neymar, ganso all for probly 50-60m combined... iduno man makes me kinda jelous that teams with this money dont know what to do with it.. anyhow that dzeko rumor is definitely bs why wouldnt they take him in january:S iunno w.e reasons for it idnt rly care. krasic is having a good spell so far hes a good player but does nothing extra ordinary tbh, hes a very hard worker and yes hes a good player, hes nothing like r10 (not r80) and messi, robben and the likes. there the type of players that with one touchh on the ball and never track back , win games - people think hes excellent but its cause of his hard work rate.. boateng example. anyhow i hope juve do buy dzeko and inter gets worst and we just go 10x better then both like olden days.

They bought Krasic this summer (non-EU player). They can't buy Dzeko during this 2010-2011 season as a consequence.
why r u guys happy with abbiati being injured?he has been gr8 till now..personally i dont care about his age or anything as long as he performs like this..

I dont want kaka back to be honest, but the worst thing would be if he joined inter. wich I doubt becouse I think Kaka does not want to, I think he has too much respect for milan. he should go to the premier league or something;
If we want a Attacking midfielder we should go for Pastore or Ganso!
Dont believe those Dzeko to Juve rumours...there has ben no news about this in Bosnia, except for quoting that article.
It's built news ...
There is absolutely nothing with Kaka' coming back in Italy, in Inter or Milan. It's really unlikely to happen, at least this season.
Kaka' has yet to be out for a long time, and I don't think any club will take the risk to welcome him and his high wages during the season. It's more likely he will play the second part of the season in Real Madrid as a sub to slowly come back to some decent level.
Then, Mourinho will decide if it's better to keep Kaka' or to sell him. But I don't understand why Mourinho would want to sell him this winter, why doing that and selling him to one of their competitors in CL (as Kaka' won't play one single game in CL) ?! It's better to wait 5 more months with him in the team, because if he turns to be the great Kaka' we know again, he will be a major reinforcement for Real Madrid. If he doesn't manage to play well again, they know there will be buyers this summer.
So IMO, there will be no Kaka' story in January.
i also doubt Real will be looking to sell but more importantly anyone will be willing to buy Kaka in January as he will be still coming back from injury & given the amount of injuries he has had lately, i don't think it will be a smart thing to go buy him before making sure he is healthy.
However, come June, and if he is fully fit & available for 20Mio, I would personally love to see him back
Kaka can kiss my ass. **** him. Serves him right.
We don't need any more attackers. We need a midfield Pirlo backup and a really great full back. Otherwise, our team is almost perfect.
Funny how some places came up with reports of Pato to Man City for 75 million Euros (!) days after Man City owners said they won't be big spenders anymore...

yea and also read they wana offer 110m for pique.. stupid rumors tbh i think milan should just keep all eyes on pastore in jan. id love to see him at milan.. tbh we should look into some more young italian talents.. like rossi or something it would also help the development of our NT... why santon is at inter i dont understand.. if i were benitez id cash in on maicon and play santon the hole season and spend that money from maicons sale elsewhere

i don't blame Kaka for leaving... he obviously did like the idea of going to Real, but if we kept him happy he wouldn't have gone....he single-handedly gave us the CL in 2007 and after that we sucked the life out of him by not investing in the team and expecting him to keep carrying us season after season....we put too much pressure on him mentally & physically & he broke down...he had to leave....we did not protect him
As for attackers, Dinho will be gone in the summer so we need a replacement and one who can play CAM

Kaka single handedly gave us the CL in 2007?? When did that happen. That was the mother of exaggerations.
On Kaka's issue, my opinion is of Pearl Jam's Nothingman: once divided nothing left to subtract, some words when spoken can't be taken back.
Besides, to my knowledge, NO ONE ever succeeded in their 2nd spell with us: Sacchi, Capello, Gullit, Simone, Donadoni, Sheva, you name it.

Well, of course it's an exaggeration. But still, he was our MVP at least. I would love to have Kaka back in the same shape as in 2007, but will he ever come back to that level? Not so sure about that, too many injuries. One thing is for sure though, I'd hate to see him celebrate a goal wearing an Inter jersey.

Yes, he should be our MVP at that time. But don't forget we lost Sheva. Our biggest star were Sheva and Kaka in that time. What poeple forget easily is how Carlo could make the team able to compete with any team in europe even a big lost existed in that time (Sheva). Player best motivation was also one of biggest factor of Milan success.
Kaka won CL 2007 single handedly? It is only in a dream.
Dzeko's manager Redzepagic denied the Juve rumours.
and where will kaka fit into? i'd rather have a young destructive, oops i meant defensive, midfield player/prospect than a washed up 28 year old. even if he is the (nearly?) great kaka.
I don't know which team you were all watching in 2007, but the fact is that Kaka reached his peak that year. In the CL, Milan scored 20 goals in 2007: Kaka scored 10 goals (and made 3 assists) while the rest scored 10: Inzaghi 4, Seedorf 2, Gilardino 2, Pirlo & Gourcuff 1. His performances that year won him the Ballon d'Or. I did not say that Seedorf did not play a couple of excellent games against Bayern & ManU or Inzaghi scored both goals in the final, or.... but this is a team sport and no player no matter how great can win a competition like the CL if he did not have a good team next to him. But take Kaka out of that team & no one in their right mind could say that we would still have won it, but the same cannot be said about anybody else that year. That is what i meant by single-handedly...i do not believe it is an exaggeration and if u have a better example about another player who has had the same effect on the team's perfromance in a single competition, then please do share.

In 2007, in CL, two of our players were amazing: Kaka' and Pirlo. Gilardino was also very useful as he was "sacrificed" by Ancelotti to open spaces to Kaka'. Overall, we were a good team, but we had these two players who were just outstanding that year in this competition. Without Pirlo or Kaka', we wouldn't have won the CL in 2007, I agree with you (actually, I agree but add Pirlo to the main reason why we won).
he scored 1 goal against celtic, team conceded 0. pirlo was the best player against bayern at home, and seedorf away. And what happened when Gattuso and Maldini picked up injuries against united at OT? at san siro the team put in a masterclass. In the finals, he was involved in both goals, mascherano marked him out. Kaka did well that year, but to say he single-handedly won us CL is like saying Messi single handedly gave barca 6 titles: an insult to the rest of the team.

Like Lebrn said, Kaka' was the "fuoriclasse" player who allowed us to win games. He didn't make us win all games, but without him, we wouldn't have won the competition for sure as we had no other "game winner" player. And it's why we struggled in championship for so many years.

Thiago Silva and David Luiz :pr115::pr115::pr115::pp20::pp20::pp20:
Not to undermine kaka's contribution or anything but people praise Kaka for '07 AND ALMOST NEVER give credit to the rest of a side that was probably best team in CL from 2003-2007. A team that with a bit of luck could have won 4 titles instead of 2. It's not fair. Besides, we can't know for sure whether without Kaka the team wouldnt have won that title.

If there ever was a one-man team in the world that won the CL, it was Kaka's AC Milan in 2007. Ofcourse there were 10 other players on the field, but it was all him that season. 80% of the win goes to him while the other 20% is shared with the rest of the teams performance.

In 2007, we had no bench ... Kaka' was the player launching the counters, passing, etc, he moved so much on the pitch. If you put him out of the team, who would have done his job back in 2007 ? We had no bench, and no replacement for him, it's as simple as that.
Now, if Kaka' can become again the player he was in 2007, I say a big yes to his come back. If he can at least play like during the WC (not a trequartista, just a classical AM), he would aready be an upgrade in our team.

So exaggerated. You have said that was a team game. With or without Kaka Milan could win the championship. You don't know what would happen if Kaka left. Milan could buy a player etc. Anything could happen.
You said that no one in right mind would think Milan could win it. Well, it was just like before the CL started. No one would believe Milan would win it especially without Sheva. I don't know if before the CL started you had right mind. :D
You forget easily how Carlo utilized Kaka so he could do performance like that, like who made him a striker vs ManU. People only look at who made the goals. People often forget the man behind the team or at least the role of defensive players.
Kaka in 2007? He only helped Milan to do that. With or without him Milan could and can win CL. He needs Milan to win CL. Not vise versa, it has been facts for years. But Kaka without Milan? Still a lot to be proved.

You know that is not possible Geo... But Kaka' is in my heart ( football wise! :) ) and I'd welcome him back in Milan. We'd transform to 4-3-1-2 with moving CAM in Kaka' and Pato would play left CF, which is perfect "tridente".
But the question is one of the fullbacks... D. Luiz as a LB is also perfect.

Ivanovic's contract expires in June. He's 26, he's EU, he's been linked with us in the past, he's very solid defensively and is even good at RB. Can be an excellent squad player to replace Oddo+Zambrotta+Janku+Onyewu all of which should be leaving in 1-2 years.
Excellent deal in my books, if true ofcourse.
BTW, Italy beat Latvia in the Euro U19 qualifiers 2-1 thanks to a Simone Verdi goal.

How is he EU? Serbia is a non EU country. For me he is first 11 player, top quality RB. One of the victims of Carletto :)

Ah, I see the reasons why you said all exaggeration about Kaka. :wallbang:
Yes, free quality players (but not old) Milan should chase.
So exaggerated. You have said that was a team game. With or without Kaka Milan could win the championship. You don't know what would happen if Kaka left. Milan could buy a player etc. Anything could happen.

But it can be said for ALL the great players in the history of football ...
Zidane wouldn't have won anything he he wasn't in good teams of course, Platini, Maradona, Pele, Messi, Ronaldinho, etc ... All these guys would probably have won nothing in bad teams, the fact is the best players are generally in good teams and are generally what makes these teams become great.
There are good teams, and there are great teams. In 2007, we were a great team in CL (not in Serie A). Why ? Because Kaka' stepped up in this competition, of course, thanks to Ancelotti, A, B, C, X, Y and Z. Without Kaka', we would have had no player to make the real difference that year in this competition.
Then, you say we can't know if we would have bought someone else, etc ... but that's not the point about the discussion: the point was to debate about the possibility for Milan 2007 to win CL with Kaka' and without Kaka'. To make it simple: Milan 2007 with Kaka' vs Milan 2007 without Kaka'. I still think that if you put Kaka' out of the 2007 team, we wouldn't have won CL.
And Mrki, a bit like you, even if Kaka' doesn't turn to be great like in the past, I would probably like to see him again in a red and black shirt. His bad form is mainly due to the injuries, it's not like Sheva who totally lost himself in England, so I think he could still be a very important player in Milan if he had a second chance like Sheva had.
See, no one greater than a club (the team itself). Saying someone won a championship single handedly is more than a mistake.
There are good teams, and there are great teams. In 2007, we were a great team in CL (not in Serie A). Why ? Because Kaka' stepped up in this competition, of course, thanks to Ancelotti, A, B, C, X, Y and Z. Why you only compare with or without Kaka. How about with or without Ancelotti? Would Milan win the game? Would Kaka get performance like that?
People forget easily how CL final for Milan Ancelotti from 2003 untill 2007 was like a habbit. Only Milan's arrogance like they showed against Depor were the obstacle plus a referee decision in Nou Camp (Sheva). 2003, 2005, 2007 were Milan in the final. Coincidence? No.
And after Milan won 2007 people said Kaka won single handedly? I agree with other user, that sentence is the mother of exaggeration!
Then, you say we can't know if we would have bought someone else, etc ... but that's not the point about the discussion: the point was to debate about the possibility for Milan 2007 to win CL with Kaka' and without Kaka'. I ask you, if you were in 2007 before CL started, would you say Milan would win CL? It is so much easy to predict something that happen since you have already fact to defend your statement. But not with something haven't been yet happened.
And Mrki, a bit like you, even if Kaka' doesn't turn to be great like in the past, I would probably like to see him again in a red and black shirt. My point is not about Kaka come or not because I am not a fan of Kaka. He was Milan player, I like it. He is not Milan player, I don't care.
In a straight fight btw kaka and cristiano in '07 overall, smart money would be on cr7. But when MILAN faced UTD, MILAN RIPPED THEM APART. why? because while cr7 had a great year, the rest of his team couldn't match Milan. same thing bayern, same thing celtic, same thing liverpool. And Geo, all the guys u mentioned are above kaka...... and they won league titles in their prime. The only player that has almost single-handedly won a club CL in at least 10 years is gerrard. Almost.
Why you only compare with or without Kaka. How about with or without Ancelotti? Would Milan win the game? Would Kaka get performance like that?

2003, 2004 and 2005: we should have won everything, thanks to Ancelotti, Kaka', Pirlo, Seedorf, Sheva, Nesta, etc. We probably had the best team in Europe.
2006: it's weird, I'm going to have to refresh my mind because I don't remember this year right now, probably because I mainly remember Italy winning the WC ... :D
EDIT before posting: yeah, in CL, we should have won it too that year ...
2007: our team was far from the level we had few years before. It's mainly since 2007 that Galliani says CL is in our DNA ... this win was a surprise.
I ask you, if you were in 2007 before CL started, would you say Milan would win CL? It is so much easy to predict something that happen since you have already fact to defend your statement. But not with something haven't been yet happened.
I always think Milan can win CL at the start of a season ... :D
But anyway, I don't understand this paragraph, well, I understand it, but I don't know why you say that. I don't try to predict anything, I just try to think about our team without Kaka' in 2007, and when I think about it, I don't see us managing to win CL without him. It's all I said, knowing if before the start of the season, I or anyone else predicted we would win it or not isn't needed at all in this discussion I think.
My point is not about Kaka come or not because I am not a fan of Kaka. He was Milan player, I like it. He is not Milan player, I don't care.
Sorry, the last part was for Mrki actually, it's because I didn't want to open another page to quote his post ... :D

Hahaha great answer. True Milan fan!
But anyway, I don't understand this paragraph, well, I understand it, but I don't know why you say that. I just only to show that people gave praises about Kaka after Milan won CL (it is logic) but people would not predict Kaka would perform like that. What is the difference between Kaka 2007 and before that time? Why people praised him so much? IMO first of all because we had no more scorer (read: top striker) who managed to score the goal. All attention then went to Kaka who made goals. So, he didn't have to share the praises like before (or someone had to share the praises with Kaka).
But how could he actually made many goals? I mean, how could be so decisive in Milan team? What was the difference in Kaka before 2007 and in 2007? IMO first of all the transformation of his position. It could be seen against Celtic, MU Old trafford and San Siro and against Liverpool. Who could ever think to do such change of position for Kaka (like to be striker or shadow striker)? The one who make CL final like habbit for Milan!
I repeat it again, would people predict Kaka would do such great form in the CL before the CL 200 started? That is the starting point, not after Kaka has done this and that great form in CL. So, for me, it is not the material (to be produced into a great product) is the most important but how to make the material to be a great product is more important (not Kaka was the most important but how to make Kaka like in 2007 was more important).
In my view Milan won the CL 2007 because of:
1. The genius of Ancelotti who utilized Kaka with the tranformation of position for Kaka he made.
2. Kaka's performance as result of the first point.
3. The determination and fighting spirit of Milan players especially against MU in San Siro and against Bayern München.

Someone like Pastore or Ganso oe Neymar.

I also searched news about it but couldn't find one. I only found that Silva and Luis played for Brasil against Iran (in the game who Pato scored).
Any link about Milan linked with David Luis?

As for Kaka, I don't know how this discussion started, but Nalx said it best; Kaka will not, should not, return to AC Milan. I do not think his physical situation will get better, I think he may be finished. He will NOT return to 2007 quality, and speaking on that year, KAKA was the most important piece of the puzzle for Milan, and they would not have won without him; PERIOD. Against Man U we were unconscious in that game at home in the rain, and guys like Pirlo and Seedorf played unreal. Kaka, however, was the Superstar we needed....our MVP
I wish Kaka the best, he'll always be in the hearts of the Milanisti, but he moved on, as did we. I want to beat Real Madrid twice, and win the Champions League as many times as possible with this squad. I want for Ibra to finally win CL with us, and I want him to kiss our emblem, and mean it...
It's important for us to sell Ronaldinho, and release guys like Janku/Bonera/Oddo. Selling Bonera for €5 Million is Fantastic... I'd take a bunch of balls and some Gatorade Mix for him...
For Ivanovic, a big YES, we need a RB or LB, and probably one that's more solid, and one that can attack a bit more. Also, a Trequartista (ACM) is also needed once Ronaldinho leaves. Then Robinho/Zlatan/Pato occupy the 2 Forward Slots. There are plenty of games for the 3.
Another transfer I'd love to see is Jucilei, as I've seen very (nice, dynamic, box to box) things from him.
All in All, While I really like the team as it is now, let's be honest, we still have to be active in the transfer market or develop some young talent... We will need to fill 4-5 positions in the next 2-3 years....especially with Nesta, Seedorf, Inzaghi, Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambro getting old....

I also searched news about it but couldn't find one. I only found that Silva and Luis played for Brasil against Iran (in the game who Pato scored).
Any link about Milan linked with David Luis?

Thanks for the help.
love that Brazil coach who really appreciates Pato & plays him as a striker...nice goal against Iran too...
I hope Allegri gets convinced soon that playing 4-3-1-2 with Ibra & Pato upfront with the possibility of the CAM not playing so well, is better than playing the 4-3-3 where 2 of the 3 upfront might not play well...
At least Alliegri has tried 4-3-1-2 in the last game. Pity Pato came in the last minutes when the player were already tired and the focus of team was merely to defend the 1-0 result. He was also just coming from injury.
Next games Alliegri could play Pato+Ibra with Ronaldinho behind the two plus Robinho as substitute for one of them. The next problem is how Alliegri has to made substitute(s) in the right time for the midfielders since they were tired easily (all 3 players are over 30 old players). And then the fullbacks (well this is the most difficult one since we don't have many options here or to be honest we don't have option at all! :D).
yeah the parma game was a good 1st step....i just hope it's not a 1-time thing
about the midfield, I'm hoping it won't be the parma midfield as the starting line-up ...Boateng proved that he deserved a chance & i still think Flamini deserves one too....Allegri just has to get them involved the right way.
as for the fullbacks, well we know all about the quality of the old guard that we have so the only thing we can do is try the one we don't know....Montelongo...and given that the benchmark is pretty low, i don't see how anyone can fail to cut it
we are on the right track, i have to say i am happy so far, but if we want to really be competing come May, then we still have a lot to do
play pato up front or sell him..he is not helping milan playing wide
non-eu thing is a problem, as players who are ideal for us are: D. Luiz, Ivanovic, Jucilei, Ganso... Lets say we exchange Ganso for Hernanes, he plays in serie a :)
Mr. Zac wins his first game with Japan vs Argentina, 1-0!
Good job, Japan!
Recently I've heard a lot about Kaka coming back. Not a bad idea, we can play true 4312 with him.

Recently I've heard a lot about Kaka coming back. Not a bad idea, we can play true 4312 with him.
hows about this then!
"Kaka's father Bosco Leite was spotted at Milan's Via Turati headquarters on Thursday amid reports he was set to return to the club, but they have explained that his visit was only for "bureaucratic reasons."
The Real Madrid man was linked with a return to San Siro by Italian media, and their reports coincided with the visit of his father at the club's offices.
That fuelled speculation Milan were plotting a move for Kaka's return, and those voices gained further momentum when Inter president Massimo Moratti said his club had not started any talks with Madrid.
However, Il Corriere dello Sport claims Milan director Ariedo Braida, who met with Leite, did not make enquiries about a potential return.
Instead, the Rossoneri explained that his father's visit was only related to "bureaucratic reasons."
Kaka has also been linked with a return to Sao Paulo, according to Brazilian reports.
Can't say much now, it is still early, there are 2 months until new mercato. However, everything is possible.
I'll welcome him if that's true.

An unfit Kaka' is better than most of our ACM who can fill the "1" position if we want to play 4-3-1-2 (that's if there's anyone who currently can play in that position).
Last mercato there are some people who wanted VdV, why say no to Kaka' now, who is twice the player VdV is?
Haven't we learned anything from Shevchenko? Let's go for Ganso instead.
Kaka passed it and however i dont want him coming back to Milan anymore. We did great deal by selling him to Real madrid last year. Lets look at the future not to the back. Kaka did great things at Milan and was in our hearts and still a legend for me too. On the other hand, his injury problems and his form is a big worry, considering the big spending, his wages and fee to Real Madrid, in this case, i dont want Kaka coming back to Milan. instead we should try for Ganso or Pastore or even Honda...
i'd want ivanovic if he comes free, he is a solid RB, yet in 4-3-1-2 its very risky to play with defensive wing backs. we need more offensive wing backs than ivanovic. David Luiz is great defender, i'd take him anytime with open arms, we should consider him seriously. Nesta aged and we dont have any solid partner for Silva.
Jucilei, we need one more box to box and jucilei fits the bill well.
if we play with 4-3-1-2, selling Ronaldinho and offloading some of veterans, like Oddo, Janku, sell useless players.
One offensive wing back.
David Luiz
Jucilei
Ganso/Pastore
in january Jucilei
in summer David Luiz and Pastore.
What do you think about ilicic of Palermo? he really impressed me.

the bad thing in the 4-3-1-2 formation is not that we don't have a player to play as a center play maker because dinho/robinho/seedorf can do good jobs there .. the real problem in my opinion concerning this formation would be pirlo .. he doesn't have the stamina nor the aggression any more to chase offensive midfielders of the other teams .. our midfield will be exposed from inside like in the man u matches last champions league .. i would love to play pato up front and have an organised 4-1-2-1-2 formation but only if we get a solid deffensive midfielder capable of handling such situation such as essien -diarra - lass- and so on

In the 4-3-1-2 formation, because of his position, the "1" causes problems to the opponents when they counter. It's one more player to defend, so Pirlo can do his job more than in a 4-3-3 actually. It's the contrary from what you said.
With a 4-3-3, the "3" in midfield are a lot more exposed ...
One of the things about the 4-3-1-2 is that you HAVE TO get width through the full-backs for this to be effective. I'm not so sure how well our full-backs can provide us with width right now. So that can be a problem for us. But anyhow, it definitely looked good against Parma. I was impressed actually. We fell apart at times and struggled towards the end......but I liked how we stayed compact and kept the ball due to our "possession players" (seedorf, pirlo, dinho, ibra, robinho) were close to each other and were able to exchange passes and roles constantly. Again however, the one thing that didn't work out well was the width.....which was there from the fullbacks, but provided very little quality on the flanks.
About Kaka...I hope he doesn't come back. He was good. He was great. He gave us wonderful moments and created history. But it's over. He isn't the player he was. Actually, he is far far far away from the player he was. There is no point of going back in the past. We have good memories of him and he of us. Let's leave it like that, as if he comes back that might change. I just don't think he can do what he used to anymore. He won't be a good buy for us. We need to look into the future and keep building. There is players out there that are the future. And we need to turn to them. Focus on our youth and buy a couple of GOOD/GREAT players a year. Let's look at Ganso, Jucilei, Poli, Giovinco......focus on Verdi, Paloschi, Hottor, Fossati, Merkel, Albertazzi, Beretta, Strasser, Carmona....etc and others that can be found like in the past couple of years. That's what we need to do. There is no point at going back to Kaka now. That's a finished chapter in my eyes. And the fact is...I just don't think he is good enough anymore. It's not 2007 anymore. It'll be 2011 in a couple of months. Things have changed and Kaka hasn't been THAT Kaka for a couple of years now. I just don't want another Shevchenko case. That's my take on the whole thing.

I think the Kaka issue is rather settled. I can't believe anyone would want him back. Especially after Sheva's experience. Milan sold him for a reason, and I'm sure they've learned their lesson with Sheva. It's time for a young, hungry, motivated ACM like Ganso, Pastore, Honda, etc....
As I've said before, Milan need to sell Ronaldinho, and then release Oddo/Jankulovski at the end of this year. Then, look to make a few purchases:
Center Back:
Possbilities: Ivanovic, David Luiz
Right Back or Left Back:
Possibilities: Di Silvestri, Coentrao, Van der Wiel, Ivanovic (free transfer)
Center Mid:
Possibilities: Jucilei, Poli, Lazzari
Attacking Center Mid:
Possibilities: Ganso, Pastore, Honda, Van der Vaart
Forwards:
Possibilities: Giuseppe Rossi, Neymar
* I wish we could buy a real talented Italian CB but Rannocchia is an Interista, and there really isn't any other talent out there right now unfortunately....
* We need to get ready to promote Verdi, Paloschi, Hottor, Fossati, Merkel, Albertazzi, Beretta, Strasser, Carmona to replace Inzaghi, Ambro, Pirlo, Seedorf, & Gattuso.....
* Lastly, I must say this although many people will not be interested. Living in New York, with some connections in finance, there are rumblings that there could be a 2nd crisis, to that of 2008, a financial crisis, perhaps a currency crisis of the US Dollar, which has been steadily sinking for months. Apparently, even a Devaluation by the end of the year. Something of this magnitude to the Largest Economy in the World, and the World's reserve currency would certainly have affects on the world, particular Europe, and particularly Calcio. I wanted to throw this possibility out there as I do not hear such negative things often, and if the World Economies would sink back into Recession, I think you can count on it that NONE of these transfers would then occur. Anyhow, I hope not, and I hope we can continually improve our squad which is already a lot better than last year....

As big as I am a KAka fan, I really don't want him to come back, as Ibra will be the key to our attack from now on and all balls will go through him. Thus KAka coming back even back to 100% healthy, will either play like crap due to Ibra being the focus or vice versa. To me I think the perfect ACM for Milan is actually someone who got a great shot outside the box, moves well off the ball, defends and can dribble pass defenders when need. Robinho actually fits that well, except for long shot and defending. To me someone like Ozil would be ideal.

We need to promote only those players who are really ready. If Milan signes Jucilei, Luiz and Ivanovic, which means that we need one non-ru player with a help form one club, we have created a brilliant team.

Seeing as how you count 'The Obama Deception' as one of your favorites tells me you're a paranoid and fearful person that loves conspiracies and doesn't really understand the value of rational thought. Other than that, I agree with your thoughts on Milan. ;)

Ohhhh man. Thanks that you agree with me about transfer policy, but regarding the econoy, which probably shouldn't be discussed here and its my fault for doing so, I think your highly mistaken. I did see obama deception, but based off of numerous research over the years, its quite apparent for all to see that there lies men behind the curtain of all governments, highly manipulating markets, finance, economy, and the media. Anyone who denies that is quite clearly scared of being awoken by the truth. As for me, I'm neither a conspiracy theorist nor paranoid or scared, I deal only in truth. In fact, obama just put out a warning that all americans should not travel to europe, and I'm going to italy anyways. I could care less what he says. They do that to keep the public in fear at all times to control them, and I can promise you I'm not in fear.
I apologize in advance for diverting from milan transfer policy, but considering the worldwide depression we're in, I thought it was important to consider we may not be spending as much as we'd like in these times, even Man City will pull back.

i think Man City pulling back is not to do with the economies of the world its because they get royally screwed when they show interest in any player.

i think there might be some truth to that yes....i was thinking Thiago or Pato...but i really hope i am wrong and it's just that barca were in a real mess financially &/or Guardiola asked to get rid of Ibra at any cost...
We can go for matri next year when inzaghi might quit career.he is from our youth system, his game style is a bit like borrieli's,he would be a perfect back-up for ibra.
3 rumours on TMW:
- we would offer 20M for David Luiz
- the club could offer a renewal to only Pirlo among the players with a contract ending at the end of the year
- Lazio would want Nesta to come back to end his career there
With these 3 rumours, it looks easy to say the following thing: David Luiz could be the replacement of Nesta next season.
Of course, this statement can only be seen as a rumour ... :)
PS: We're linked with interesting players nowadays, David Luiz, Ivanovic, Pastore, Kaka'. We're in the race for the Scudetto in Serie A. Enjoy the blue sky days !! :D
This was always going to be the case. We couldn't have started the real revolution last summer because we can't get rid of the players on contract. Since they're running out next summer, that's when the new team will emerge. We had a unique opportunity with Zlatan and Robinho, and we took it. But this year was supposed to be another year in waiting, like last time. There's going to be some big, big changes next year.
I put 6 expriring contracts in an order of importance: Pirlo, Nesta, Seedorf, Dinho, Pippo, and Janku. :D

If there ever was a one-man team in the world that won the CL, it was Kaka's AC Milan in 2007. Ofcourse there were 10 other players on the field, but it was all him that season. 80% of the win goes to him while the other 20% is shared with the rest of the teams performance.
I went back to read some older pages in this topic, so perhaps a little too late, but I agree with you.
I would put it exactly that way. Yes the team played great, it was amazing team who'd won 4 titles instead of 2 in 5 years if there were any luck, but in 2007 Kaka was really a standout player. He was the star of 1/8 finals and semi finals and he was involved in both goals in the final.
But, if you'd ask me do I want him to come back, my answer is: No. Kaka's body evidently isn't OK. He isn't a half of fast player he was before. Of course he's still a great player, for me the most beautiful player to watch, but his main weapon always was speed and it was painful to watch that he can't take on a player like Ooijer anymore. Painful.
With him we would gain an always-injured player with high wages. It doesn't make sense to me.

I agree that a team need a super star to win the CL (Porto & Inter's star was Mourinho), but for the rest I don't think Kaka is that useless now.
Kaka's speed, or more exactly, his breakthrough skill was world best, and IMO, his longshot & one-on-one are world best, too. He has an instinct for goal, despite of not being a forward, in addition, his intelligence & football are also at the top. He can do what Seedorf can, even better.
I don't request Kaka but I don't play him down that low.

Imagine if the long term plan is:
-------------Ibra---Pato------------
----------------Ganso----------------
--------Flamini--Pirlo--Boateng--------
Antonini--T. Silva-D. Luiz--Ivanovic
---------------Amelia-----------------
Gone: Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Inzaghi, Onyewu, Jankulovski, Oddo
Subs: Robinho, Paloschi, Adiyiah, Jucilei, Merkel, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Nesta, Zambrotta, Abate, Sokratis
With these Fullbacks, we cannot push up too much, and I think Nesta should start until he simply can't anymore... Ronaldinho and Seedorf probably leaving this year with Inzaghi, I fully expect that...
* Interesting also that without Janku, we don't have 1 lefty in the team..
I somehow doubt Seedorf will leave, if management were willing to extend Pippo before they are also willing to do the same for Seedorf

I didn't say you need a superstar, but Kaka was a superstar that year. We've won in 2003 without superstars.
Last year, Inter won because of team spirit not because of Mourinho. For anyone who sees football, Barcelona was VERY vulnerable, and Inter had the players who could use it, and also Mourinho studied there game well. Barcelona's strength is that they rarely loose any balls in midfield, but if that happens they are very vulnerable, but that's not the topic. Remember Moutinho needed three years to build a winning team and he has got the best team in Italy in his disposal. Porto was a BIG coincidence, Monaco was in that finals, it was ridiculous CL year. Mourinho is good coach, I like him to, but let's not overrate him.
Regarding Kaka, I have no doubts he still is a world-class player, but the fact he lost so much speed brings a question about his body, a body which is not OK evidently, as I already said. I think we don't need a player who'll spend most of the time on the sidelines and take big wages. Last year, he couldn't play 4 games in a row without injury.

I disagree on some things:
- in 2003, we didn't have one superstar, we had a team full of stars (Cafu, Nesta, Sheva, Inzaghi, Rui, ...)
- Inter last year wouldn't have done anything, despite Mourinho and the solid squad, without Sneijder ...

OK, I got your points.
"Superstar" in my humble definition ^^ is something exceptionally better than all other teams. I didn't overrate Mourinho. 2004 was a strange year when all the top teams' forms were bad, and last year there was no team with cohesion like Inter, so their coach could take the credit.
About Kaka, if Milan loan him, the doctors must check him first, and I believe in them because they could find even a teeth problem :D

Braida in Portugal for Joao Pereira and Fabio Coentrao?
Never seen us linked with Pereira or Coentrao before, and I wonder why they are not linking us to David Luiz because he's the one that we've been linked with recently...
We are being linked with Sakho too who's versatility at CB and LB at 20 years old and maturity to be a captain has been noted. Other rumors talk about a return for Paloschi and alot of rumors about Kaka. I love Kaka, one my fav all time players, not we must not re-buy him. If we want a new player like him we need to invest. Pastore would be ideal but he's too expensive and rightfully so. I say we take the chance and bid for Neymar first - if bids rejected we tell them we actually got mixed up with the names, we meant it for Ganso. :D
After an orgasmic summer, now linking us with a great fullback like Coentrao, seems like I need to get some good lube for another orgasmic transfer window. Forza Milan we really are rebuilding.
edit: it may be worth noting, but some Milanistas online "with good sources" they say, are claiming R80 will be sold to LA and Kaka to Milan in January... afterall Braida has met with Kaka's agent this week, and Galliani flew to LA on Friday... Maybe the fee LA are offeing + wages saved off R80 for Kaka swap is what's making Milan go for more players this January.
I agree, why not David Luiz? Luiz can play left fullback while Nesta is partnering with Silva and Luiz can step in when Nesta is getting rest.

We're linked with so many players ...
In France: Sakho (no way, January) and Cissokho (no way especially after what happened :D)
In Spain: Kaka' (January) and Pedro Leon (January)
In Portugal: David Luiz (next summer), Coentrao (January) and Pereira (January)
In Italy: Paloschi (next summer) and Canini (?)

Easy, step by step. :D
I don't know, even like miracle happened in the summer, still I have doubt about Milan ability to get known players. :D
Fernando Torres knocked down by David Luiz (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7QKIZ5vEnk) :respect:
After saying it could be a good revenge to join the Bianconeri, the agent of Cissokho revealed that Milan is still the main goal of his player. He said his player loves our "shirt" (means he loves Milan) and would still be glad to join us if the club was to be interested again.
Even if the agent added that it's only October and that it's too early to speak about these things, all that sounds like he is trying to offer his player to Milan.
=> No way it could happen in January as Lyon is also in CL and will have to work hard to be in the top of Ligue 1 again. Not sure the player is really an upgrade over Antonini, but it could reinforce the team if Antonini is then pushed on the right (the problem is that by doing that, we need again another LB as we have no proper replacement, except Antonini himself).

How's Cissokho doing in Ligue 1? What's his style? I heard he attacks a lot, and is a left footer that we don't have...
Coentrao in my opinion is a better buy, depending on the price, but I likes him work ethic in the WC...
By the way GeoTav, what team do you support in France? You're french not italian right?
If there is any possibility of buying Coentrao in Jan. we have to do it...We are short of fullbacks and Coentrao is an excellent one,he was amazing in WC....
I believe Rui Costa has set the price something like 30 mil euros, if sell Ronaldinho to the States for at least 20, Coentrao can become our member...
After that we change our tactics to 4-3-1-2 with Pato and Ibra as strikers with Robinho as trequartista and we will destroy our opponents...

We will be lucky to get 8 for Ronaldinho
We will be lucky to get 8 for Ronaldinho
don't worry Galaxy will pay more than 8 mil....
I saw Brazil vs Iran and Luiz was very unimpressive. Positives: He is physically strong Negatives: not as agile as T. Silva and he takes way too many touches to do anything. He looks like a pure CB and can't see him being a good full back, imo. I think he is overpricved, I would prefer Sakho who I think will also be cheaper.

Personally I prefer Santacroce 'cause I've already seen him play awesome in Serie A several times, he's not starting at Napoli, he is Italian, he has tremendous potential. He has been injured for 1 year and this year he still hasn't started. David Luiz does look like a project but I feel he is weak personality-wise and not quite intelligent. Iran he had a bad game, but we shouldn't take that game to judge him he usually is much better than that.
And I agree with most people's comments, I actually think we can get up to 5mil for Ronaldinho if lucky 8mil.. however his wages are 8 mil (16mil before taxes)..so if we let him go in January we save up to 8mil wages (net) + 5 transfer free = 13m.
I wouldn't go for Cissokho, he is not the LB we need. We need a new Maicon. Coentrao could be that. Brasiliero, how consistent has Mario Fernandes been? What do you think of him, Diogo, Coentrao and Cissokho?

I think we have to rate Coentrao, Diogo, Cissokho in that order...
Coentrao has clearly proven himself in Benfica and in World Cup... However, take a look at this sick video of him:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ly1vEjuUTs&feature=related
All of the highlights excite me, and makes me think Antonini is half offensive threat as Fabio, however, there are no "defensive" highlights. Coentrao currently plays as a LM for Benfica. He is playing in a similar position to Gareth Bale, but his crossing ability, dribbling ability, and shooting ability is far superior to any Fullbacks we currently have.
I've seen very little of Diogo and Cissokho so I cannot say.
Milan will NOT take a chance on Santacroce as he does not even play on Napoli. Unfortunately, this is just a bad generation of Italian defenders. Even Bonucci has been exposed numerous times for Juventus, and he and Chiellini are considered the next Nesta/Cannavaro duo. I can guarantee you they won't be...

This would be my preferred Lineup starting January ... we will win Scudetto with this lineup... Forza Milan!!!!!!!!!!!
Brasil vs Ukraine now. Pato just hit the post! Good shot actually. 35 minutes. I am watching using 365.

Mate, 30 M for a full back is madness, and it will never happen in Milan.
Anyway, I think many of you should be carried away, there will be no major reinforcements in January. We've already spent 16 M on Robinho, and if we're going to buy Ibra (and we will) we have to spend 24 M in June. I think we need one good side back, but anything above 10 M will not happen. If Cissokho rumors are true, he was a pale shadow of his former self in Lyon, so his price could actually be under 10 M now. That is a possibility I would say.
In my opinion, we have a pretty good team now, we can expect that Allegri will try Boateng and Flamini more and more, because Seedorf and (probably) Gattuso will be useful only every second game after January. There is a possibility that Ronaldinho leaves us, but I don't think that will happen before June, and I think Robinho will be turned into an AM until then.

2-0 Brazil... Pato just scored a very nice Goal.. showed his strength in the box...
Robinho had the assist for first goal of Dani Alves on a brilliant cross. T. silva also doing very well.. D. Luiz too.. not much to do for Brazil's defense...
Hope Robinho plays like this for Milan...
As for January, I agree it's probable we DON'T buy...Especially since we have guys like R80, Janku, Oddo, on our books until June...
I would for sure sell Ronaldinho in January since you'll get nothing for him in June.
Sell R80: I think MLS will pay $7 Million to LA/ €5M + €4M Wages for 6 months
Sell Bonera: €6 M to Tottenham or Fulham in January
Janku, Oddo Wages will come off in June most likely
Then maybe we can think of getting Coentrao..
Berlu said Ronnie will retire here so you guys can relax :D

Just 8M, Milan will pay 24M in 3 years, so next year we'll give Barca 8M but receive 10M from Roma for Borriello, a plus 2M. However, if we still need to pay for Boateng & Amelia if we want them.

Last year, I thought Cissokho wasn't that good, anyway, I wasn't impressed, but I have to admit he has improved. I'm actually unable to decide myself if he could be worth a purchase or not for us (I'd tend to say no as Aulas, the president of Lyon, will overprice him) ...
This season, I don't know how he has played so far.
And I don't support any team in France, I just support Milan, Milan and only Milan. I don't watch a lot of football if there isn't Milan in the game. I sometimes do an effort when I want to watch a player we're linked with. The only exceptions are World Cup and Euro, I watch most of the games (but it's also because there are a lot of players to discover).
When Milan doesn't play, I don't think this sport with a ball can be called football: Milan is football, football is Milan. :)

Probably for a different thread, but how did you become a Milan fan? Being French, I'm quite surprised for you to support an Italian team...
I wonder how most of the posters have become a fan of Milan? I am a fan because of their great history, but also because of the great Italian players at the club's core: Donadoni, Ancelotti, Tassotti, Nesta, Maldini, Baresi, Inzaghi, Gattuso, Pirlo, Zambrotta, etc.... Anyways ...
I hope Milan can manage a good rebuilding period which is surely not completed. It is true we still have to pay for Ibra, Robinho, and Boateng, while we received money for Hunter, and next year we will receive 10 million for Borriello. Then, we have Kaladze's salary that came off, and soon Janku and Oddo's. If we want to buy Ganso or Jucilei, or G. Rossi, or Coentrao, then it becomes very expensive. Yes we need to rebuild, but with Robinho, and Zlatan, as well as Boateng already, we're talking a lot of money...
It will take money to rebuild, but it's the price we have to pay for sitting on our As$es and doing nothing for the past few years. We are finally this year starting to see some changes in our team, with different key players coming in. Before this, our team looked heavily the same as it did for years. But we have to keep going. The club has to invest in a couple of players every summer (don't have to be an Ibra type of signing, but good players ready to step in the first 11) and then focus on our youth and keep building that up. Surprisingly, after a long summer that looked like it was going to be more of the same old disappointing stuff, I think that we may be on the right road to recovery and change.....but the road is long.
Anyhow, here is the plan....:guw:
Ivanovic -(there is no way he won't listen to our offer before signing an extension. However it's up to our club to show real interest and make contact. For some reason, i don't think Ivanovic ever really enjoyed his stay in England too much.....struggling to find a lot of space in the first team for a while. And it's not the first time we see rumors of him leaving) If Ivanovic is a NO-GO, then we definitely need to get a fullback. I'm seeing rumors for Coentrao and that's great.
Ganso - This kid is full of footballing brain and ability. Unbelievable talent. I know he is injured until February with a serious injury.....but there is no way this player is not going to go back to his best. There is just way too much ability, talent and football-intelligence for that to even be considered.
*I know you are probably wondering how we can get both Ivanovic and Ganso on the team when we only have 1 non-eu spot per season....but that's just it. We haven't registered a non-eu for this season yet, and we can do it in January. The question is which one to register in January and which one to leave for next season. The obvious would be Ivanovic now and Ganso in the summer since he is injured. But then again...why pay cash for Ivanovic now who is also cup-tied, when you can have him for free in June.
I would go for Ganso now (even though injured) and let him ease up into fitness and get accustomed to the team and Italy. He won't be able to play much, but the important thing would be to get him over here and use this opportunity. In the mean time we'll still have Ronaldinho/Seedorf to carry us for the remainder of the season as AMs (creative force).
Lazzari - a good and solid MF who has been doing great in Serie A for a few years now. We've been linked to him for a while now and will be a great addition to the squad in terms of depth and rejuvenation. Will be a great asset and can play pretty much anywhere in midfield. Should be pretty low priced as well.
So that brings us Ganso, Lazzari, Ivanovic. And we can get rid of Seedorf, (one of)Ambro/Gattuso, and a couple of our useless defenders (take a pick for a couple out of Oddo,Onyewu,Janku-definite yes,Bonera). Ronaldinho is an unknown for me. But there is certainly no space for him and Ganso in the same team (knowing that we'll also have Ibra,Pato,Robinho here too).
Add to that a few of our youngsters (we have to start giving them chances) like Strasser, Verdi, Merkel...and you have a very very rejuvenated and fresh squad.

Iran he had a bad game, but we shouldn't take that game to judge him he usually is much better than that.Don't take it personal, my friend... But it still sound strange to see people praising Fabiano because he's Italian. The guy born just a few Km's of where I live here in Brazil. If he had chosen to play for Brazil, I doubt people would give him the amount of love he get. It appears the guy has no flaws... Plus, until now, he's a one season wonder and his best games were as a "false" FB. Fabiano is a much more project than David, and a Italian passport can't deny that...
Regarding David, imo you're being too harsh:
1- You say he's a bit of project, but the guys is proving himself in Portugal(and Europe) since day one. He came at 19yo and take no time to earn a place at the first-11.
2-How a guy is weak personality-wise become one of the 3 Benfica captains at 22yo?? He's only behing Nuno Gomes and Luizão, two veterans. Sorry, but I can't agree with this afirmation.
3-Regarding inteligence, you say ON or OFF the field?? If you had a chance to hear David talking, you would see he's quite mature and appears to be much more inteligent than the majority of the players of his age. The guy doesn't appear to be only 23yo. On the field he had a problems with nasty plays(harsh takles, elbows), but he already cut it a lot... Besides that, can't see how you claim David isn't quite intelligent...
He played a bad game against Iran, no doubt, but it was just his 3 game for Brazil NT. In his debut against USA, he was very good, and praised a lot. People need to realize very few players display the same level they play at their Clubs at the begining of their careers at Brazil NT. The weight of that yellow shirt isn's easy to handle. Remember, our own Thiago was very bad at his start in Brazil NT and was benched at the Olympics...
That said, David will cust a lot!!! Young, desired, seasoned in Europe...Can't see us in the mix with Chelsea's or Madrid's. Plus, our mid imo is in a worse situation than our defense and I doubt Berlusca will spend a lot on both at the same time...
I wouldn't go for Cissokho, he is not the LB we need. We need a new Maicon. Coentrao could be that. Brasiliero, how consistent has Mario Fernandes been? What do you think of him, Diogo, Coentrao and Cissokho?
Mario Fernandes is out(Shoulder injure) since a game vs Santos before the World Cup. It was serious and the guy needed a surgery. I don't know if he's near to come back, but that is a amazing young player. One of the two players that I saw stopping Neymar, Robinho and Ganso at his sector without rely on fouls. Plus, can play as CB and FB at HIGH level. It only matter of time until he come back from injure, and Mano calls him for Brazil NT. After that, the price will go higer...
Diogo is a PROJECT, my friend. He showed a amazing level at under-20 WC but, until now, nothing in the pros. High risk, high regard purchase. I really like Coentrão, but it would be funny o see what Galliani will say of him. He and Marcelo are very similar, but several months ago Galliani said Marcelo wasn't the type of FB Milan were looking for. I always said here that with the right coaching, Marcelo would improve(defensive-wise) as FB, and look at what Mourinho is saying right now...
Of those name you wrote, I would chose Coentrão, no doubt. But not for that amount of money I'm seeing at the press. With 30 Millions, I would go for a Neymar, Ganso or Giuliano type of player...
Am I the only one to still doubt about Coentrao ?
Why do I doubt about this player as a LB ? For the exact same reasons as I doubt Bale can do it ... Coentrao, if I'm not wrong, doesn't play as a LB on a regular basis, he always plays like a LM/LW in his club.
Being good in defence with the Portuguese NT wasn't difficult as during the WC, this team was very defensive minded and took almost no risk.
Brasiliero, stop rating highly the young players because there must be a curse, they get injuries ... :p146:

Ibrahimovic and Robinho (especially Ibra) are the legitimation for medias to create anynews that show Milan can buy any player in this planet. LOL
Ups, after Robinho I can't say anything about Milan. Anything can happen. :D
Coentrao is best option to buy for SB position...30 mil? It's asking price, that doesn't mean that he will be bought for that amount of money...He will be bought probably for 15 mil and that's acceptable....
GEOTAV Portugal being defensive minded during the WC are you sure??? You have doubts on Coentrao because in his club he plays LW and LMF and on NT he plays LB....that only tells you how VERSATILE he is....that means that he can run very fast and very good and he proved it on the WC.....

Bold part: Yes, I think Portugal had a very defensive approach during the WC. They simply did nothing except sending balls to C.Ronaldo who missed everything. The game against North Korea isn't a good example because North Korea was simply nowhere in this game and everything worked for Portugal. But if you look at their games against good teams, they were just defensive and didn't try to play.
Bold and underlined part: Well, I only saw him play as a LB during the WC. Portugal played 4 games. Can he play as a LB at the same level as during the WC for a whole season ? If yes, so he should be taken without any doubt, but if he can't ...
Is Coentrao really good for fullback position like mentioned by some users here? Or is he just overhyped just like other young Portuguese players?
How many games (league and international) actually has he played as fullback? Anyone watches him regularly?

Ok you have every right to doubt about that, but personally I think he can play it the whole season...why? Amantino Mancini is similar type of player...in his best days he could play every position on the right side (RB,RMF,RW) do you remember his form during 2003/04 season (his best season IMO) when he played for Roma?he played as a RB....

My Squad is great, but yes you're right, Ivanovic, Jucilei, and Ganso would have to be bought over 3 seasons, because of NON-EU passports...
Also, the Wage Bill on that team would probably be too high... maybe not, who knows...
As far as Coentrao, his skills are shown here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ly1vEjuUTs
but you have to admit that 4 games at LB is not enough to show his worth there, but look what Mourinho did with Marcelo, supposedly he's defending well.
With the right coaching, for 12-15 Million, Coentrao is a great pickup, but obviously not for 30.
However, Ivanovic is free, and then they'd keep Antonini at LB (which I'm not so happy with)
We'll see what happens, but bottom line is we need a Full Back..
I'd prefer Coentrao, but let's be honest, if it was your money, you may get Ivanovic for free instead..
Thanks for the youtube link but I saw only offensive skill, none of defensive skill shown in the video.

I got a lot of Portuguese league games last season Geo, mostly Benfica and Porto. You're right, Coentrão was a LW winger until the middle of last season. Plus, I saw him at Portugal under-20 NT, and he was a option on the bench as a LW, too.
That said, when I saw his first game as LB in the middle of last season, I've become impressed. He's raw at position, but imo he has all the tools to be become a very good offensive fullback. Defense needs work, but the desire and is there and the effort, too. One more time, he's raw, but imo has a lot more tools to become a successat FB than Bale.
Being good in defence with the Portuguese NT wasn't difficult as during the WC, this team was very defensive minded and took almost no risk.Couldn't agree more. Portugal played the old and famous Catenaccio(sp?) at World Cup.
Brasiliero, stop rating highly the young players because there must be a curse, they get injuries ... :p146:
Never thought about that. Damn!! I will try to stop:( :)

My Fantasy Lineup for 2011-2012 Season
GK: Amelia, Abbiati, Roma
Difensori: Nesta, T. Silva, Ivanovic, Coentrao, Antonini, Papastathopoulos, Zambrotta, Yepes, Abate
Centrocampisti: Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso, Flamini, Ambrosini, Boateng, Merkel, Lazzari, Jucilei, Ganso
Attaccanti: Ibrahimovic, Pato, Robinho, G. Rossi
26 Players
In: Ivanovic, Coentrao, Lazzari, Jucilei, Ganso, G. Rossi
Out: Bonera, Onyewu, Jankulovski, Oddo, Inzaghi, Ronaldinho
Mate that's pure fantasy. We will not buy a half of these players. Ivanovic has turned into a WC defensive side back and Ancelotti will not let him that easily. Lazzari, we have Boateng, same thing.
Jucilei, Ganso, I don't want to be rude or pushy or whatever, but how many of you saw more than, say, one game of these two players?! They are highly rated in Brazil, there are some youtube clips, and whole MM forum goes mad about them. And G. Rossi is totally out of question, bcs we have too many strikers already (don't forget Huntelaar and Borriello are loaned).
Anyway, one thing you can be sure of is Robinho will not accept to be bench player next year too. You can't buy a 26 (or wahtever) years old near-WC player to be a bench player. You can, if he's above 30. We have to make place for all three strikers (Robinho as AM perhaps, but I'm not sure about it), so we need extremely strong midfield. Another attacking midfielder simply doesn't fit here. I would say, one side back and one good midfielder (box-to-box) for next year, and that's it.
In defense of those who have seen little of Jucilei, Ganso (I am one of them)...we have our very own Brazilian scout here.
By the way not seeing before buying is not much worse than some managers, Sir Alex Ferguson comes to mind :tong:

First of all, if you look at the top of my post, it says " Fantasy"... Yes It's my fantasy team. A team that I think has full depth, and quality in all aspects. A team that can compete (and defeat) Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Inter.
Ok let's go step by step:
First, Ivanovic could leave if he wants at the end of the year, as his contract's up, no matter what Ancelotti says. However, as I write this an article comes out saying Ivanovic may sign a new deal shortly:
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=831404&sec=transfers&cc=5901
I don't think we'll get G. Rossi, but it's not unreasonable to have 4 strikers. IF Ronaldinho gets sold which is highly possible IMO, and Inzaghi retires next year, and Oduamadi and Adiyiah are not considered Milan material or are not ready, then we'll only have Pato, Robinho, and Ibra. A 4th striker is not "out of the question."
Chelsea have Drogba, Kalou, Anelka, & Sturridge (4).
Man City has Tevez, Santa Cruz, Jo, Balotelli & Adebayor (5).
Tottenham:Crouch, Defoe, Keane, Pavlyuchenko, & Giovanni Dos Santos (5).
Man U: Berbatov, Hernandez, Rooney, Owens, Macheda (5).
Juve: Iaquinta, Amauri, Del Piero, Quagliarella (4)
Next, Huntelaar and Borriello are GONE. They're not coming back. Huntelaar was sold not loaned, and Borriello was loaned with option to buy for €10 Million next year, which I'm told is similar to the Ibra deal in which Roma MUST purchase Borri.
For Lazzari or Poli, you must forget we have Ambrosini, Seedorf, Gattuso & Pirlo. I hate to break it to you, but these guys are old. They're mid 30's. It's time they invest in some midfielders, you cannot expect for our youth system to produce players that will equal the 4 i mentioned above. We may have a situation in a two to three years in which all of them retire at once. And then what do you do???
Next, Robinho, Ibra, and Pato can occupy 2 Forward positions as there are a lot of games in the season. They may not like it but look how often players get injured nowadays. Robinho may be put in a trequartista spot this year and tried out there, but that's not really his preferred position. We're yet to find out if that will work.
Lastly, Jucilei & Ganso are 2 Brazilian players who are showing great promise. Brazil produces so much talent and these two are among the upcoming stars. Many of us have only seen a few games, but we also trust the words of Brasileiro who has a proven track record. Plus, if you don't want Ganso as an ACM, who do you recommend instead? There are not many players available at that position besides Honda for close to €16 million.
Jucilei maybe that box to box you're talking about, and who knows, a replacement for Pirlo??
It's hard to say what of the utmost priority, a Full Back or an ACM, but I'd prob say a proper LB, this way Zambrotta and Antonini can play RB, and I'd love for us to go out and get Coentrao as a proper Left footed, talented LB. I'm sure he'd love to come....
Mate that's pure fantasy. We will not buy a half of these players. Ivanovic has turned into a WC defensive side back and Ancelotti will not let him that easily. Lazzari, we have Boateng, same thing.

I agree that the priorities as a side back and a midfield but Inzaghi will not be in the team next year. 4 players to take until the start of the new season is not so illogical... So Rossi can be a replacement, a solution. A team like Milan which should be competitive in two championships (Scudetto, CL) not to say the cup needs good replacements. Robinho for example can not play in a game in Cl and play against Roma in Italia in next game, like Ronnie with Ajax and Parma... games..
I don't know, if he is that good offensively, he could be then our next Serginho? :D[/QUOTE]

Don't worry, Reza... You just need to watch the first-half to know Jucilei and Ganso are special.
The guy is just mad because Dzeko isn't being linked to us these days. Plus, he doesn't have Leonardo to bash(hate) anymore. Somehow, the life become empty and boring...
By the way not seeing before buying is not much worse than some managers, Sir Alex Ferguson comes to mind :tong:
Just to add... an actual manager of an EPL team(cough Spurs cough) admitted he never saw Brazil NT under-20 captain(Sandro) playing, but trusted his team Scout and gave the green light for the purchase. The famous coach even compare the young enforcer(a true holder) to Socrates.:v46: :D
Talk about to buy a player that you don't know nothing:v46:

It's not the complete quote (and maybe twisted too). He said Man City being interested flatters him, but he's not interested. He added IF he was to leave Milan, then Barca would be the club of his choice. However, then he went on to say how he's happy in Milan and loves the club. Personally, I don't think it's anything to worry about.

What I mean by that is style of Pato... Very Fast... good finisher,,,, still very skinny,,, needs to get stronger,, he's only 18 of course.. but similar style of play.. what's wrong with saying that?:grinser:
I think Santos needs to keep Neymar for 2 more years ...
He's so young, and he's not very strong physically, I think he will develop more properly in Brazil, and then will be ready to join an European club (ACM ? :D) !! By joining Europe too early, they could try to make him work too hardly (and too early) physically, and it could be a new Kaka', Pato, Ronaldo, etc ...
I'm sad nowadays because Brazil doesn't have one superstar, you know, a potential golden ball winner ... they always have had some of the greatest players, but nowadays, with Kaka' and Ganso injured, with Pato being regularly out for injuries, with Ronaldinho not being what he once was, I don't manage to find one outstanding Brazilian player being regular and injury free. Neymar has almost all the tools to be this kind of player in a near future. If he comes to Europe too early, I'm afraid he won't be this player. Of course, Pato can still be this kind of player too, if he can let the injuries away from him ...

At the end of the Business Press Conference held today, Adriano Galliani talked also about football as he shared his view on Pato’s future, the rumours about Kakà and President Berlusconi’s commitment to keep Milan at the top.
MILAN – Here is what Adriano Galliani had to say regarding football today at the NHow Hotel Milan, the venue of Milan’s Business Conference.
’The passion and affection president Berlusconi has for Milan determined the outcome of our activity on the transfer market. In my opinion, the arrivals of Ibrahimovic and Robinho are potentially profitable investments, money well spent. We signed Robinho and Ibra and at the same time sold Borriello and Huntelaar. A big part of the relevant costs could be covered by higher sponsorship and ticket revenues – like it happened in the case of the season tickets. We had 6500 season tickets sold by August 29 and in the end we finished with 60.000. Our sponsorship and media-related revenues have risen as well. That’s why I claim that these transfers are in accordance with the concept of the Financial Fair Play, which says you cannot spend more than you earn, but doesn’t forbid you to increase your turnover. The majority of our costs will be, and partly are already, covered by the club’s higher worldwide appeal. I think we worked well this summer, both from financial and technical points of view. Also having because better players mean better results and consequently higher income.’
’As for the rumours surrounding Kakà, I think his return to Milan is improbable. It’s been only a year that he moved to Madrid and then it’s not a nice gesture to talk about his return to us only a few days before visiting his current team in the Champions League. Then, there is the fact that Kakà has a very high salary thanks to the fiscal regulations in force in Spain. It’s true that these regulations have been aligned since January 2010, but this doesn’t concern deals closed before 2010. Anyway, I don’t want to talk about about Kakà, also because I don’t want president Perez to call off the dinner he has invited me to… (smiling, editor's note). We should get back to this topic in five days.’
’Pato’s future? He hasn’t received any offers from Manchester City. He is not for sale at any price. The only team inquiring about him was Barcelona in the summer. When I was in Barcelona to convince president Rosell to sell us Ibrahimovic, he insisted on an Ibra-Pato swap deal for two or three day. His offer was rejected. Pato is 21 years old, he’s our symbol. If we want to further enhance the value of the Milan brand, we must not sell a player like him. So I can confirm he’s not for sale.’
’Messi in Milan because of one of our sponsors, Dolce&Gabbana? It was a business meeting between the player and a sponsor, it has nothing to do with neither Milan nor Inter. Anyway, as far as I know, Messi has a rescission clause of €150 million or €250 million in his contract….’
’The contracts of Nesta, Pirlo and Ronaldinho are set to expire in 2011? Milan will boast great players also next season. This campaign has just began, now we’re concentrating on the current season. I don’t know who will play for us next year, but one thing is for sure, president Berlusconi, to whom I’m very grateful as a Milan fan, wants to keep Milan at the top.’
Finally, he talked about the immediate future of the San Siro: ’Milan and Inter are working with the City of Milan to make the San Siro an elite stadium. This is how UEFA calls this the best stadiums nowadays. At the moment the San Siro doesn’t belong amongst them, therefore it is not eligible to host the Champions League final. The hygiene services are to be improved as well as some other things… The Olympic Stadium in Rome is the only five-star stadium in Italy, as it has been renewed for the Barcelona-Manchester United Champions League final in 2009. Unfortunately, Milan is among the poorest cities in terms of sports infrastructure. There’s no elite stadium, high quality swimming pools or athletics stadium in town. In this sense, Milan is in a dramatic situation. We’re collaborating with the City of Milan to turn the San Siro – which was constructed by Piero Pirelli’s Milan in 1926 – into an elite stadium, good enough to host the Champions League final in 2015 or even before.’
sounds interesting but he is a big bald liar,
1 kaka will be here because jesus said so!
2 regarding the backbone of the 2011/2012 team it means we are going to buy 3 players which i find impossible to replace Ronaldinho, Pirlo and nesta (italian identity issues - Italian wise nesta and pirlo are impossible to be replace unless u buy chiellini (lack defensive leadership) and even the national team cant find pirlos replacement) and ronaldinho shouldnot have a replacement in the team because it was a mistake having a winger in serie A and champions league games especially with this milan team or at least the mentality of the team so buying a pastore, ganso kind of players would be best solution
3 regarding pato i hate to say this but we already sold pato to barca the day we played gamper cup but the thing is when
3 regarding pato i hate to say this but we already sold pato to barca the day we played gamper cup but the thing is when
It doesn't matter because we sold kaka to RM for big money when he is already past his peak. We will do the same thing to Pato & Barca.
Lebanese, even if we gave a first option to Barcelona for Pato (which is just what you think, there's nothing official about that), and then ?
I mean, they have a first option, which means if we accept to sell the player to a club, Barcelona can make the same bid and we'll have to accept. But as long as we decide to keep Pato, first option or not, they can make bids, Pato will be a Milan player.
And seriously, I don't see Pato in this Barcelona team right now: he won't take the place of Villa for moment, and there is a lot of competition on the wings (and like Pato isn't a real winger ...).
Barcelona doesn't need Pato for moment (and as I think Messi and Villa will be there for some years, they won't need Pato for some years), Pato doesn't need Barcelona.
About the next mercato:
- it is reported we'll have between 10 and 20M to spend thanks to our new sponsorship deals
- Cissokho is again and again linked with us (as well as Canini and Sakho)
- one of the officials of Sao Paulo said Miranda could leave at the end of the season (so during the winter mercato)

First of all Barca have been playing this formation
Villa--------Messi------Pedro
So Pato doesn't fit...simple. But I'm sure he'll go to Barca..hopefully not for 7 years or more ;)
Don't worry about Pato. Milan management know that Pato is our big asset and Gallaini already confirmed that Pato is indispensable for Milan.
What we should worry is his injury's record.
I dont think how barca will be able to sign Pato considering their huge debts reportedly arnd 450mln..And i dont think pato will leave any sooner..Incase bojan made it big for them then i dont see them coming for pato..Pato is safe with us for the next 5-7 years considering that we invest regularly and have a team that can win a CL..Maybe if we fail to win something for like 5 years then i can see him demanding a move..For the moment we'll get to see the best of Pato..relax

because Ferguson for all thats bad with him did everything he could to help Rooney, when all the scandel broke about Rooney and prostitutes ferguson stepped in and let Rooney sleep at his house so he could escape the media, he made up the story about him having an injured ankle to the press as a buffer or a barrier to protect rooney in this dip of form and bad state hes in, and what has Rooney done to say thanks, made his manager look like a liar and then say he wants to out after all that Ferguson has stuck by him through he does this. all of the players before than Ferguson has sold for varying reasons were well made decisions not because he couldnt handel the superstars, i really cant stand Man United but in this case i feel Rooney is having a laugh.

I would not be surprised to see a Rooney-Benzema swap + maybe €15 Million to Manchester United.
------------Rooney--------------
Ronaldo-------Ozil-----------Di Maria
I don't know what other foreign club would want to buy him.. Barca is broke. Milan has enough forwards.. Juventus maybe (but i don't see him fitting with an all italian team) .. Inter Maybe??? since Diego Milito form not that great...
I don't see him in Germany... and within England I only see Man City or Arsenal buying him, even then, like someone said, he wants to leave the country probably...
Only Madrid needs another Forward..and there have been links before..

I think Santos needs to keep Neymar for 2 more years ...
He's so young, and he's not very strong physically, I think he will develop more properly in Brazil, and then will be ready to join an European club (ACM ? :D) !! By joining Europe too early, they could try to make him work too hardly (and too early) physically, and it could be a new Kaka', Pato, Ronaldo, etc ...Very good point, Geo...
But if Neymar keep his actual level(form), it will be good for him to go to Europe next season... But only for the right coach. The difference between success an fail for Neymar(even at young age) will be his future coach in Europe. I hope the boy think about it when the time come, and for the love of God, don't go to Real Madrid!!!!
Glad you touched this point, because it leads to a conversation I had with a friend some weeks ago.
For some reason, Brazilians players are being underrated nowadays. In the late 90's and early 2000, it wasn't the same. Any good Brazilians players were over hyped a lot. For some reason, now this trend is with the Argies and Spanish players.
Look at Hernanes case. He need to go to Lazio to get a chance in Europe, and all of that with 25yo!!! Sandro, to the Spurs, Wesley to Werder, Nilmar to Villarreal, Douglas Costa to Ukraine. Jucilei only got offers from middle/small Clubs, too. Giuliano receive none(as Arouca), and the list goes on...
I sure hope the young talents here keep a cool head, and(like Hernanes) waits for the right teams in the right Leagues. Jucliei already did it this season, saying no to some Clubs and stating will only leave Brazil for a better Club...
I hope more players do it...

Lol!!!
I was at a very important meeting at the time of the game and couldn't watch live. Just now I finished to watch it(alreading knowing the outcome), and I need to say we scaped a historical beating.
A 6 x 0 would be the result if Iguain well know "choking at big games" trend didn't happened. Embarassing...
The only good thing for me was to see Marcelo's performance. I always said Marcelo just needed the right coaching to become a real full back. That if he was in Italy, he would have already learn it. But people disagree...
I want to see the face of Galliani right now, because Real offered him in Kaká's deal and he said no, because Marcelo wasn't and couldn't be a fullback:) :moan:
The same player we didn't buy for 3.5 M because we had a better option in South America... Grimmi. :pchate:

What ever happened to Grimmi? and why am I finding that our Club is possibly not very good at scouting??? Perhaps we need to hire Brasileiro.
It is truly amazing how quickly Marcelo turned into a WC LB under Mourinho. He times his runs and doesn't enter the final third recklessly.
I think a Coentrao really needs to be a priority right now. We need a proper LB. Antonini can then play RB.

While we are on the subject of LBs, I read a rumor couple days ago about us trying to sign Emanuelson from Ajax for free next summer. What's everyone's take on him? He is similar to Marcelo in a lot of ways as he is fast, strong and great going forward. Anyone think he would make a decent addition to our defense?

I remember how frustrated I became when we bought Grimmi and Real at the same time Marcelo. It wasn't like Marcelo's price was out of this world(just 3.5M), but we chose Grimmi, Viudez and Cardaccio.
At first I did not agree with some members here, but now it's clear they were right... Leonardo was the only one that knows Brazilian market. The one with good eyes. Our adventures in South America(without Leo) shows it...

In the past I said it here with two Brazilians attacking fullbacks we were linked:
- Cicinho would never do it. I was against the purchase from day one. Too soft to be a succefull fullback in Europe. Even as wing back he would fail. All my Brazilians friends(and press) disagree. Still got good laughs asking them about the amazing Cicinho:tongue1:
- Marcelo on the other hand(I watch him since his 16yo) always showed the tools to become one. He just needed coaching(and time to develope), period. People forgot how young he was coming to Europe. Roberto Carlos just come to Europe at 22...
Like you said, amazing how quickly he turned his style, but thats what a proper coaching do. Sad, because I think Tassoti could have helped Marcelo lot at the defensive side...

lmao whats he saying about the milk i dont get it.. coentrao will defnitely cost us ALOT of money, the thing they need to understand is at this moment in time we need to spend this big money. coentrao ganso and jucelei and neymar in 4 years would be treble after treble after treble if we get other international good classed players to play around them - of course robinho and pato wil stil be young, thiago silva wil be our experience in defense so on so fourth. we could build a new era with purchases like this but they need to happen now. the only way u can guarentee sucess even though you know these players will be wc is also if they play good together, 2-3 years in and out playing together will get us back to #1.. after real madrid today my optimism dropped quite a bit , we still need to rebuild we lack speed in mid and defense

More than that, it seems Leo was the only guy our management trusted about the South American market ...
Braida admitted he saw and wanted some of the Argentinian and Brazilian players who start to be known in more or less big clubs, but also admitted that "things don't always work".
I won't ask to buy 10 new players, fire the coach and kill a player like it could be read here and there on the forum ... :D
We lost in Real by playing a very bad game against a good team, it happens, no need to change everything now because of one game !!
Like I defended Ancelotti and Leo, I'll keep defending Allegri who has done a good job I think (and if he manages to turn Ronaldinho as an AM, it could be a solution to some of our problems in a near future, I just think it was too early to use Ronaldinho this way against a team like Real). His main problem isn't the subs, I think his main problem is rotation, and I don't know why, as he was the one saying at the start of the season he would use rotation to involve all players and keep fresh legs on the pitch.
So far, it's the only thing that hasn't worked.
Anyway, he should use Sokratis a bit more (by starting this W-E as Thiago will surely not be 100% fit), and use only one of Zambro and Antonini, not both of them, because I think they are at the same level nowadays, and not secured enough in defence against the best players to play together at the same time ...

Yes Perhaps I'm one of them who had knee-jerk reactions after the game after a disappointing display, however I'd never even joke about a player being killed, esp after it's happened before.
However, you say no need to change everything because of one game? I'm sorry, but I've been very consistent in my analysis. I joined the website in June, and I've been saying we need many new players, including a new MF. Boateng was a great pick up, but I've said back then that Seedorf should go. I've seen him have awful (not bad, but AWFUL) performances. Sure, against Lecce he looked good but if this 3 man midfield was getting destroyed last year vs MANU, then they certainly won't be any better this year (1 year old, and 1 year slower).
Now, the fact that Massimiliano Allegri still played this 3 man MF, not to mention he played the exact same team just 3 days ago, shows he's learned NOTHING from previous coaches. Football-Italia was very correct in saying he's "Inexperienced." I hate to again use Mourinho as an example, but he would NOT put his name on that Milan team. He just wouldn't. He would never be seen as the coach of that team. If they can't change (and at their ages, they can't), then they should LEAVE. Ronaldinho, Seedorf especially. Bonera can be kept as a back up back up backup, but I'd prefer him to leave to Tottenham for €5 M, which is a great Sell for us.
We need a new MF and at least 1 FB. Perhaps a new coach, too. One who gets it, and would be embarrassed to field that team yesterday. End of story.

I agree with the fact we need a new FB (or two new FB) and a good all round midfielder, and in the best case, an AM too, but it's something we know since the last summer, and we also knew we wouldn't buy all we need in one single summer.
But I disagree with the people who wake up because of this game (I don't include you), damn, we're going to win the next game against Real and everything will be fine again. I think we can do this year with the squad we have, we will probably not win CL, but only Serie A (well, I'm ok with that :)). Maybe the midfielder coming this winter could help us a lot. But the main changes will have to come next year.
I also disagree with the people who have bashed Allegri since the start (but each new coach seems to have his haters).
You can bash some decisions of a coach, like you can bash a bad game from a player, but does that mean the guy has to be fired ? No way, if the coaches didn't do any mistake, we would know the results before the games being even played.

Yes, It's true that 1 game is not a reason to flip out, but IMO it's been years of decline for guys like Seedorf, Pirlo, Gattuso in particular. I also agree you cannot buy a whole team in 1 mercato, but some recognition that the squad is far from complete (although I think they may be good enough to win Serie A)... However, I think Ibrahimovic came here to win CL, I don't think he'll happy to play 2 seasons and do bad in CL. He will leave I promise.
Now, for Allegri, I have the feeling he may be told who to play, and we may have issues that we've had with previous coaches (this old slow mf). Only problem is that now he has options to choose other players, and he doesnt. Leo didn't have those extra choices ( which is why I feel so bad for him). I'm willing to give Allegri til January to prove himself, but I have to be honest and say I do not like what I see so far. As I said before, I would not put my reputation on the line with that MF we fielded yesterday, and neither would Mourinho. There's no room for Sentimental picks. Winning is all that's important.
I would like to see Allegri use Robinho instead of Ronaldinho, and Boateng as a starter. I'd also like to see a rotation system between Seedorf with Pirlo, Gattuso with Ambro (or Flamini), and Zambrotta with Abate. I just don't trust Bonera, I think he's very poor. Antonini as a LB is not a long term plan IMO.
We need a CB to replace the aging Nesta (more noticeable this year, although I still love him), and 1 or 2 FB (Coentrao, De Silvestri, Bale, VdW) and for sure 3 MF (1 ACM to replace Ronaldinho who is unfortunately PAST his prime)......

Actually Leonardo two years ago spotted this guy and recommended him as a great prospect , we missed the opportunity to sign the guy due to "book balancing"
After being out due to a nasty injury Bale only began to play routinely on the latter part of 2009-2010 season and took off to another level this season so it's quite understandable that we didn't really pay attention to Leo's suggestion.
What puzzles me is another player that we've been following for years and also recommended by Leo: Hernanes. You know, I have a little suspicion that we didn't try harder to buy him because of the relationship between Leo and Berlu especially since a midfielder like him is one of our priorities and his price significantly drop compared to the next to last season. Shame that we missed on him. Lazio, a mid table team, don't change their roster much this year and look at how much his inclusion improves their performance.
That being said, I don't mean to be ungrateful. I still thank B&G for bringing in Ibra and Binho. Hopefully this new found love in Berlu's part isn't going to fade away soon.

Italy vs Germany battle for fourth CL spot for this week:
Italy:
Inter win,
Sampdoria, Milan, Roma lose
Napoli draw
Salzburg x Juve and Palermo x CSKA Moskow remaining.
Germany:
Bayern, Schalke, Stuttgart win
Dortmund and Bremen draw
Aris Saloniki x Leverkusen remaining.
Total points for 2010/2011 season:
Italy
Inter - 9 points
Milan 7 points
Roma 6 points
Juve 6
Napoli 5
Samp 4
Palermo 3
Average: 5.571 (a bit over that, plus if Juve and Palermo win that's 4 more points divided by 7, so that increases the average to a total of 6)
Germany
Bayern 10
Stuttgart 9
Schalke 8 (more than Milan...)
Bremen 7
Leverkusen 5
Dortmund 5
Their average is about 7.5.
Excluding todays game:
Italy total for past 5 years: 54.552
Germany total for past 5 years: 60.603
Italy needs 6 more points more than Germany to keep the fourth spot. So we'll need Milan inter and roma in CL semis..and juve-palermo-napoli-samp reaching the EL semis.........
Italy's screwed
Italy vs Germany battle for fourth CL spot
That battle is lost. Changes at the federation level and (somehow) Serie A level are the hopes for the future. This is also a good read on the subject http://football-speak.blogspot.com/2010/10/uefa-coefficients-explained-why.html

good article.... yes it is lost already for next year
at least, we should do as much as we can to win it back for the year after... and this must start from now, we need to get as much points as possible and just hope for the best.... after looking at the numbers for the past 5 years, it seems that only the top 3 Italian teams in Serie A 2011/2012 will go to CL in the 2012/2013... Germany will keep the four spots for at least 2 years...
if Italy do outstanding this year maybe they can win it back after 1 year only....
Diego Buonanotte considers a move from River Plate to Europe this winter. :nail:
I mean better him with his speed and skills than another lousy lame year with the same old midfield. Can also play in the attack.
Barbara Berlusconi (the daughter of AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi) could become the club's chairman in January to work alongside chief executive Adriano Galliani.

Europe in general is a basket case, not that America's not..
But Italy in particular with their STUPID tax policies, bad stadiums, bad economy, is not a place that players wish to play as much as they did 10 years ago...Serie A is a great League.. I love the league, Milan, and being Italian, but they should lower their taxes, get out of that Fascist European Union, improve their stadiums, attract more sponors, and do away with a lot of their bad rules & policies in FIGC...
Then, they'll take over Germany.. as of now, they're getting what they deserve, plain and simple.
