After a great summer mercato 2010, we wait to see what's ahead. In all honesty, our squad is great the way it is and none of us has ever dreamed that we can ever be this complete and have this much depth in recent years. Galliani has only reported yesterday that the balance is still in tact.

Milan runs on cycles since Berlu came in. First he went on a spree creating a team in the 87-90 era which was one of the greatest teams to play the game, then took a break from 96-98, and started investing again to create our most recent dominating era from 2003-2007... he took a break for 2008-2010 and has finally decided to invest again. However there are new laws that will be applied by UEFA from 2012 onwards saying that clubs can't spend more than what they earn. We will see a big shift in the Europe's elite and you can expect Real Madrid and Chelsea to stop buying every single one-season wonder there is. It will be a new era of financial fair play thanks to Platini.

About the market, Milan still has their Non-EU spot open. I doubt that we are dumb enough to ignore it and not use it. Reports from Sportitalia an hour ago say that some guy has been saying Milan's real objective was Ganso and they will resume their bid for him in January and Ronaldinho will not renew his deal with us.

Forza Milan and let's hope we will start seeing some consistent investment by the management to build the next great Milan era.

It makes a lot of sense now for Ronaldinho to either leave in January or in the summer. He still has one season to win everything again, but if he finds that he can't keep up then he can leave quietly to the US and **** gold for the next 4 or 5 years. Robinho behind Pato and Ibra will last at least 2 or 3 good years.

Ganso, to me, would be a long term Pirlo replacement. Not as a deep-lying playmaker, but in front of two bulldogs (Flamini, KPB).

Pirlo is one of a kind and there's no point in forcing someone to be another Pirlo.

Kaladze's goodbye message:

I think it’s time to say goodbye to the Milan family, as now a new part of my career and of my life is about to begin. I arrived in this town, at this club nine years ago from Georgia. I was given a great reception, I felt your support and encouragement. I felt at home at Milan year after year. We went through all kind of things together: wonderful moments, difficulties and great victories. I’ll always remember what I gave to you and what you gave to me. Thanks for everything to you all! I wish good luck to the club, my former teammates, all Milan employees and of course to the fantastic Rossoneri fans!
Best regards,

Good luck, hope that the dark clouds above you head are disapeared.

Another news: Seedorf may leave in January. Well, after winning CL this season, man.

Good one !! :D
While I agree with the fact that players are human beings and need respect from the clubs, I always laugh when the guys complain that they are human beings and have human rights and want more respect, etc. Damn, for the same salary as these professional players, I'd play, but not only, I'd also do all the other works (from a management role to the security guard) ...

:kap:

Off topic: Watch this video ... http://video.eurosport.fr/football/l'effet-retro._vid148214/video.shtml Poor GK, he was so sure to have stopped that ball that he forgot to be fair play and got punished !! :D

Pirlo is one of a kind and there's no point in forcing someone to be another Pirlo.

I always thought Seedorf would leave, but to the EPL... I doubt he'll leave in January, I think it's more realistic he'll leave next Summer

As for Ronaldinho, I think Ganso will be his direct replacement, pushing Robinho to the outwide position and Ganso will be an attacking midfielder/box to box....
and Poli or Jucilei the replacement of Pirlo

I think Ronaldinho will leave next summer, and probably not in January, especially if he is in form the way he was against Lecce. If he has a season filled with performances like Lecce, I think Berlusconi may be reluctant to sell him altogether.

We definitely need guys to replace Ambrosini, Pirlo, Seedorf, soon...

The question I need to ask is,,,, can Kevin-Prince Boateng play a Defensive Mid position, will he even stay with us after this year, and can Flamini improve his performances to be a steady, and solid DM

Within a year or two we will also have to find a direct replacement for Nesta, perhaps an Italian defender.

Too bad Bonucci and Ranocchia are gone :hmmm:

Yeah, that's what I mean. Pirlo and Ronaldinho will be replaced in the 11 by Ganso and Robinho, but we no longer have the Pirlo role.

I would like to see us quickly establish either KPB or Flamini as the third midfielder. Ambrosini looks like he still has one good season left in him, and that's bad news for Flamini. I hope that Allegri is making it clear to all of them that nobody is guaranteed a spot, like it was with Ancelotti.

I'd be satisfied with Coates this winter, though. We won't buy Ganso unless we sell R80, and I don't want us to lose Ronaldinho so soon.

You need to really praise Galliani et al. because if they do it TOO early, Inter may react. If you do it too late, well, it's too late. So they do it just right: 8/31/2010. That way, Inter can reinforce later, but they will lose out half of the season already (due to the lack of reinforcement).

Good stuff.

Lots of excitement in the news today/yesterday. The Balotelli stories have been mentioned, though Raiola has dismissed it already.

With Dinho probably leaving next summer, Ganso has been linked with us by SportItalia as an option.

Poli rumours may grow as milannews said Seedorf could be off to the US or Dubai in January.

I'm hoping yesterday's youth result was a blip (it seems likely as a lot of new players have come in). It's great to buy all these new stars, but we cannot lose focus on the youth drive.

Agree. We can't let youth to run it. It's not going to work out in CL. Yes, they are ultra motivated, but you need MORE than just motivation imho.

I think the Genoa result was a blip and maybe some fixing going on as it was played to the back-drop of the friendship between 2 clubs after death of Vincenco Spanielli (spelling) back in 1995. Galliani was in Genoa to say sorry, and I think our youth winning would be a back step.

Haven't seen highlights but app we were the more technical team and the younger team whilst Genoa were more physical and counter alot to succeed.

IMO if we keep our youth on this path with proper chances in 1st team then in a year or so they'd beat a team who played like Genoa, because physcail difference is less important, and the tactical understanding will have improved, coupled as I said with superior technique gives them a better grasp of the game as a whole.

At first it seemed very funny too. It sort of pissed me off; these guys are the last ones who should be going on strike. But having looked at the proposed contract, the players aren't 100% wrong…

1. WAGES
Clubs want: Flexible contract, tied to results
AIC* wants: Only up to 50% variable

2. EXCLUSIVE
Lega Calcio: Players can be exclusively players.
AIC: players should be free to do what they want when they dont work

3. BEHAVIOR
Lega: Strict behavior code even off the field
AIC: total freedom off the field

4. MEDICAL TREATMENT
Clubs: Only from club specialists.
AIC: freedom to choose, making the clubs pay.

5. SANCTIONS
Clubs: Automatic incase of absence
AIC: To be decided on occasion by the the referee board

6. REFEREES
Lega: reform the board, with a president external to football
AIC: no change.

7. PREPARATION
Lega: The manager/coach can decide to separate players into different training groups
AIC: keep an only group

8. REJECTIONS
Lega: A player cannot reject a transfer to a club of the same quality and with guaranteed money. If he refuses, the contract will be resolved with 50%
of the salary being paid, and the player is free to sign with whom he pleases.
AIC: no change.

Like Reza said, demands 3,4 and 7 are ridiculous.

3.Behavior should be expected on and off the field as a human being not just as a player. I don't understand what kind of freedom they want here. The club pays them millions upon millions and they want the players to keep the club's name respectful. Do the players want to make millions and then just go and create trouble around the city...etc. This is the same in every profession = if you do something stupid outside of work, it might very well cost you at your job (depending on what that is).

4.The club pays for the players to be fit. The club has their own doctors and approved medics. They pay millions. So it's only right that they have their trusted medics to perform care on the players that they pay millions to in order to be able to play. I don't see the point in this demand. On top of that, the players want the clubs to pay for everything yet be able to choose their own doctors. Come on, the clubs have some of the best medics in the world working for them anyway. Just be reasonable.

7. This probable is tied to the Pandev case (and many others that we are not aware of) where he was excluded from the group for 6 months and trained on his own because he didn't want to sign an extension.
But again, the players are taking this way too far. The club pays the money and gives you the contract. They want success and they should be able to prepare for that success in any way that they think is good. Splitting the groups, not splitting the groups. Whatever it is (physical or psychological issues.....or bad influence on the group, etc.). Any company in the world is able to do this in their own way. Nowhere does it say that a player must play with the group or in the game. Is it right? Maybe not, but you can't possibly standardize everything.

So basically, if the players want to be able to reject clubs (demand 8) then why aren't the clubs able to split players who won't sign contracts. Basically what players are saying in #8 is that the club gives them a 4 yr contract (example) and the players don't have to leave anywhere until that runs out. In other words saying to the clubs, "I don't want to go anywhere. It's not my problem that you signed a 4 year contract with me." So that is absolutely right. But therefore I don't see how you can counter the group thing in #7 because it is the same and the clubs can say, "For the benefit of the group I will split you from it because of the dispute. You have a contract with me that you get millions from. What were you thinking when you signed this contract and now you want to leave to go play elsewhere before it's over."

Pretty much both 7 and 8 sound wrong, but they are in a way connected to each other. And as current things work....depending on the situation both these things can hurt the player or the club (again, depending on what the situation is).

Sorry for the long post. I'm just irritated with some of these "demands". I feel like these players forgot the days when they were dreaming to be footballers. Now they are there, and making more money in a year then most people make in a lifetime (most working extremely hard jobs for 10/12 + hours) and yet the demand these ridiculous things. I understand that human rights are an issue here......but come oonn....you gotta give some rights to the companies that pay you millions and millions and millions for playing football.

hwmook
11-09-2010, 10:31
Other than point 8, the players have no rights to complain. Even for point 8, i can see the reasoning behind it so.......really the strike is stupid IMO.

not worthy of its own thread but something about Leo

Former Milan Coach Leonardo has confirmed he’s taking a year out in order to work for English television.

He had been linked with the job of Brazil manager, while there were also offers from Flamengo and Serie A side Bologna.

“Football has given me so much. This year I want to have a different experience,” he told journalists as he received the Il Torrazzo award.

“I will go to England in order to work in television and I’ll study.

“However, next season I could make an important choice.”

Leonardo walked away from Milan after one year at the helm, having taken the team to third place in Serie A.

The Brazilian, who speaks five languages fluently, has already worked as a pundit for the BBC.

hmm...the demands of AIC are very mixed imo. I've put my thoughts against each point in the quote.

At first it seemed very funny too. It sort of pissed me off; these guys are the last ones who should be going on strike. But having looked at the proposed contract, the players aren't 100% wrong…

1. WAGES
Clubs want: Flexible contract, tied to results
AIC* wants: Only up to 50% variable

Thought: Whilst both parties have their points, this is something that must be agreed at the time a contract is drawn imo, not something that can be generalized in a rule.

2. EXCLUSIVE
Lega Calcio: Players can be exclusively players.
AIC: players should be free to do what they want when they dont work

Thought: Not sure what Lega Calcio wants here. Players should be free in their own time, but are responsible for their own behaviour as with any other profession. If this means players shouldn't contact other clubs when in contract, then this should be in the contract.

3. BEHAVIOR
Lega: Strict behavior code even off the field
AIC: total freedom off the field

Thought: Same as in point 2.

4. MEDICAL TREATMENT
Clubs: Only from club specialists.
AIC: freedom to choose, making the clubs pay.

Thought: agree with clubs. If players want to go see their own private specialists, it should be out of their own pocket.

5. SANCTIONS
Clubs: Automatic incase of absence
AIC: To be decided on occasion by the the referee board

Thought: It's up to the clubs to sort out internal discipline, not the referee board.

6. REFEREES
Lega: reform the board, with a president external to football
AIC: no change.

Thought: Agree with Lega. Referees are a mess in football and having an external structure outside of football makes it more difficult for foul play.

7. PREPARATION
Lega: The manager/coach can decide to separate players into different training groups
AIC: keep an only group

Thought: Agree with Lega, managers and coaches decide on how they train the team.

8. REJECTIONS
Lega: A player cannot reject a transfer to a club of the same quality and with guaranteed money. If he refuses, the contract will be resolved with 50%
of the salary being paid, and the player is free to sign with whom he pleases.
AIC: no change.

Thought: Agree with AIC. No player (or person for that matter) should be forced into decisions of their career. If they have a contract that the club has agreed to, then it's the club's fault for agreeing if they no longer desire to uphold it.

Lets be a little pessimistic here, According to my opinion what Milan needs;

1-World Class CB, considering Nesta's injury problems and other alternatives, we should have signed a world class CB instead of signing both Yepes and Papa for instance, 1 player instead 2 would be better for us.

2-World Class Right wing back, we dont have world class wing back for there, Bonera, he is even not solid defensively, Abate just a good runner, he adds dynamism nothing more, Papa, he is not ideal RB for there, Oddo? Zambrotta? we have many players who can play there yet we dont have solid wing back.

3-2 way midfielders, Seedorf is missed for instance, cuz he is effective in further area and he covers many ground, he adds something different to us other than the rest of midfielders. Pirlo is good with long balls, yet without this kind of players and quality wing back, he is too predictable. Ambro covers many ground, he is good yet he is soft on tackling, he is not a Gattuso, though he is better passer and moves a lot. its not enough. Gattuso in this system he cant do much, though he is trying hard. Flamini and Boateng always considered in second place. Flamini and Boateng can add more than Ambro and Gattuso, Flamini defensively better than Ambro, he is good passer, moves well, his shooting is good though he tries so much. Play 1vs 3-4 with Ambrosini, i doubt he can tackle the ball with this soft game, slow and he stays far away from the player, he should have closed his angle, yet Ambro always let them cross or pass. Flamini is harder so i think he should play.

We need one 2 way midfielder there as well, considering Seedorf is not getting younger, a player who can win games offensively and effective in furhter area and someone who can track back as well.

Then, We should have kept one of Borriello or Huntelaar. We need our Julio Cruz. inzaghi is not enough.

By the way....Giovinco, again the source for Parma. Scored from a free kick from about 25m out. Also hit the post from a free kick. Last week he was probably the man of the match for them and had an assist and numerous other dangerous opportunities created by him.

Juventus are really idiots for letting him go like that and treating him the way they did. I know that he is co-owned (or loaned with the option of a co-ownership/purchase ???....not sure) with Parma, but I'm not so sure that he'll want to go back to Juve after saying that they treated him like crap and never believed in him. If he keeps this up the whole season, I'm sure there will be many clubs knocking on the door for him. And I hope Milan will be one of them.

A rumour we're probably going to have to follow for months ...

It was revealed that Cassano has a 20M clause on his contract. That means he can leave where he wants as long as clubs offer 20M to Sampdoria. It seems this kind of option isn't active during the season but only at the end.

Juventus is reported to be the club being the most interested, but on TMW, you can now read that Milan will try to get Cassano if there is no new agreement between the club and Ronaldinho before January (so we would keep Ronaldinho until June, we would let him leave for free, and with the money we would save from his wages, we would be able to easily pay the 20M for Cassano).

I have a mixed feeling about that: the Cassano of nowadays is worth being in Milan, he has the required level, but there's something in this player that makes me hope he won't be a Milan player. I'm unable to say what.

I'm with you on that Geo. I don't want Cassano in Milan....and just like you I don't really have a reason or i simply can't describe it. Don't know what it is about him (maybe his past) that makes me not want him here.

Regardless of all that though he is a great player. One that can turn the game. He was great against Juve over the weekend. Trouble whenever he touched the ball. It bothers me though that talents like him can be real lazy at times and want everything on a platter for them.

Anyhow, I think that we should keep Dinho here beyond his contract. Of course, as long as his demands fit within Milan's offers and capabilities. We should definitely try to keep "the 4" together.....unless it all somehow goes terribly wrong with the egos. Galli worked in the market this summer, and now if we can keep "the 4" here, we should be set in that department for a few years to come. Which should allow us to calmly work on improving other departments. I don't view Cassano as a necessity after the arivals of Ibra and Robinho. I just don't see the point of splashing out 20mil on something that we already have in the team. I would rather see that money spent on a CM/ACM to take over for Seedorf and/or a fullback.

And if Ronaldinho does actually leave, I would still be against the idea of Cassano replacing him. I would much rather go for Ganso, who obviously would not be a like-for-like replacement since he plays at a different position then Dinho....but that's completely fine. or better yet....just get Ganso anyway. :D

Aldough, Id rather take the money and use it on a FULLBACK.

Yep I'd prefer a quality RB or LB and move Antonini to the right and maybe a Poli type player 8-10 million and 10 million on said left or right back , thats presuming that we would spunk 20 million on Cassano.

I'm still feeling very nervous that Ronaldinho and Ibra are totally incompatible. Maybe i'm wrong, but I think Robinho is a much better match for Ibra's qualities than R80. He's faster and runs into space more often.

I hope i'm wrong, otherwise it will be a few weeks before we see the Dinho on the bench and sulking and losing motivation...

Well, my biggest concern about Ronaldinho is the effect of the 2 reinforcements on his motivation. The message sent is strong, it made him understand that AC Milan won't be R80 Milan, that if he plays bad, he will stop playing as there is Robinho who is there and waits for opportunities to start.
I wouldn't have this concern if Ronaldinho had played well against Cesena, but his behaviour in this game was very weird (no motivation, aggressive and "no smile"). I'll wait to see what happens against Auxerre and in the next few games. I hope I'm wrong, for Milan, but also for Ronaldinho himself, as he now has a chance to be called again in NT, so it's the wrong time to become complacent on the pitch and lose his place.

And about our mercato, I'm quite sure our targets will be at least a FB (unless Montelongo becomes good enough to play, but do we have any news about how he plays in training ?), a CM, and if Berlusconi is really back, a star player, probably an attacking star player, especially if Ronaldinho leaves. Unless the star player is the FB (the only real stars for this position are the Brazilians, Dani Alves and Maicon, for Maicon, no way, and for Alves, it's maybe going to be time for him to leave Barcelona, I don't know why but his performances seem less and less impressive there) or the CM (there are several players).

I even think we will get two FB and two CM actually.

Look at the list of our players: Oddo and Jankulovski are sure to leave. Zambrotta will be one year older so even more useless than what he has been since last year. Bonera ? We won't rely on him for the whole season, unless the guy suddenly gets more talent and as a consequence, I don't think Allegri or any other coach would be able to say "Bonera is going to be the starting RB for next season, I want another RB as second choice". Sokratis ? He's our future CD. Litterally, next year, we'll have Antonini on the left, and that's all. So we'll need at least 2 FB if not 3.

The same can be said for our midfield, Gattuso and Ambrosini aren't eternal, as well as Seedorf. They are 3 potential players to replace in the team.

My biggest fear with all that ?
We'll have a totally new Milan or almost, built in 2 years instead of several years (better this way than never), CL will be no more in our DNA as most of our new players will have never won it ... If our coach will again be Allegri (what I hope as that will mean he will have done well this year), he'll have a lot of work and will need to be very solid as a coach.

I agree. And would also add that its clear how Ibra plays best in 2 CF's formation. A deal that was mentioned: Dinho----> Ganso, is a perfect solution for Milan.

New targets are apparently MExes and Palombo. Im more on for Palombo then Mexes actually. Palombo is an underrated player.

Agree, I'd even add:
- Mexes is a very overrated player ... :D
- it is reported we would want Palombo to have an alternative to Pirlo, but Palombo, nowadays, would get a starting spot in our team alongside Pirlo and Flamini any day.

(+ he could be used in CL if I'm not wrong, because he only played the preliminary round ... of course, it is available only if the player doesn't play one single game in Europa League, which is unlikely to happen given how important he is for Samp)

Palombo is the same as 2 players we already have, Flamini and Ambrosini, only much more creative, but technically equally bad. With him we could play Pirlo higher up and that's it. Which is not bad, because we're adding on new dimension to our team. But the problem is, Palombo is VERY slow player and we need some speed in midfield.

As CL goes, he's out, he played for Samdoria, preliminaries are counting too.

As for Mexes, I don't think he's overrated. Mexes has a temper and he lacks discipline, but on a good day he's absolutely world-class center back. With guiding of good and authoritative coach, he could be great. If Mourinho disciplined Lucio I don't see why Allegri couldn't do the same with Mexes.

I was hoping Sokaris could be the hair of Nesta, against Juventus he was impressive, but it seems he's like new Bonera, sometimes great, sometimes awful.

I can see what you are saying, but let's give him a chance (at least a few months/games) before we label him anything. Be it the Nesta replacement, or the Bonera replacement.
I do agree however that in the few times that he's been on the field, he's look very good.....and then very bad. But he only had one official game for us(Cesena), in which I think he was eager to prove a point and to do well. He just didn't look calm at all, leaving the defensive line way too often and trying to win balls that he simply didn't have the chance/positioning to win. He just needs to be calm and the performances will come......if indeed he is good enough.

Agree on Palombo though. He is a good, but a limited player. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. IMO he is best as a DM/CM. Can hold his ground while defending and can pick out some decent passes. Pretty much similar to Ambrosini but perhaps with bit bigger passing range. In other words, like you said, he is nothing that we already don't have in the squad. And if he was a bit younger, then I would take the bait, but at this point I just don't see the point of acquiring this player.

We need to start working on replacing the aging midfield players one by one. Seedorf, Gattuso and then also Ambrosini. Pirlo as well in while, but i feel like he's still got a few more to go. Of course we can't do it all at once and replace them all in a month. But also, I don't feel like replacing them with players like Palombo (29yo good/but not great player) is the way to go either.

As for Mexes, I don't think he is overrated ANYMORE.:ilol: He used to be, but not any longer because people don't think of him as a top class CB anymore. And in my opinion, I agree with people that think he is not top class. He is a good/solid defender (and then at times atrocious defender), but far away from the top tier of CBs. He has lost his place at Roma as well because of that too. And no, I'm not basing my opinion on the very fact that he doesn't start at Roma, but because way too many times when I've watched him play....I've been left disappointed. However, with the right CB next to him to compliment him, Mexes might be able to be a useful player.

For that part, as long as he doesn't play in EL, he can be included in our CL list ... Why ?
There is a (new ?) rule allowing teams to use one new player who already was used in the preliminaries of CL, not two, not three, just one.

If I'm not wrong, it's what happened when Real Madrid had to choose between Lassana Diarra and Huntelaar in January of 2 years ago ...

Revolver

Well, I'm sure Mexes would be great beside T. Silva, ONLY if a coach would limit him to go forward vary often. His other problem is he always wants to be acrobatic in his box, which is dangerous, he needs to be more "no-nonsense" player, but that's more psychological and it's more about coach.

About midfield, I think a crucial thing for our season will be how Boateng will fit it. As soon as half of season goes through, Ambrosini and Seedorf will be useful only in every second game, and even then they'll be limited.

If we get good squad player in Boateng, then with Flamini and Pirlo we'd have good midfield. We're working on a deal for Poli and he should replace Pirlo when time comes for it. Anyway, we're already set for two positions, no matter who plays Pirlo/Seedorf and Flamini/Ambro are good for any team, but Boateng is just what we need, strong, quick, energetic and technical box to box midfielder. If he could be a heir of Seedorf great.

I don't know about new rule, but for Real Madrid, they had 24 players included in the list, so they could add only one. So, if we include 25 players in the list now, we can't add any players in January.

Anyway, I doubt we will reinforce our squad anymore this year. If anyone comes, that would be for next season(s). Probably Poli or some other younger player(s).

Geo, you are wrong about you're rule.. you are only allowed to add one player from the Europa League, both Lass and Hunter were bought for Europa League teams thats why they had to pick one. If he plays in Champs League thats it, he's already played in that competition so he's cup-tied.

Some very good points here...

Mexes: Good, better than Sokratis, Bonera, Yepes, and Onyewu.. but not a choice for Milan. I would prefer a young Italian CB that can be the new Nesta (impossible, but someone that can be very good for years)

Boateng: He was subbed for Pato and played as a Forward almost. I'm not sure that he will be a DM as all of you are assuming. I would prefer Lassana, or maybe some other DM i'm not thinking of yet, but Palombo probably not Milan Quality...

Priority is a CM (replace Pirlo) even if it's not in the same deep position

Ganso, or Jucilei would be good for that. Other option is to get Jucilei/Palombo/Lassana and partner them with Flamini in 2 holding positions then play 4 up top:

----------Ibrahimovic----------
R80/R70------------Pato-------
----------Ganso/Honda----------
-------Flamini---Palombo/Jucilei/Lass

RB is next BIG priority, and I'd say JANUARY. Other option is to go for a Michel Bastos, then move Antonini to the Right...Otherwise a RB is a priority..for that, I can't think of many names. Adriano was one, but he went to Barca. Van der Wiel too expensive...

Lastly, R80 is out next summer in my opinion. I wish he could stay and play great, but I don't see it. I think Robinho is here to replace him, and they decided to have 1 year of all 4. If Ronaldinho is on fire this year and we win Scudetto and do very well (semis or better) in CL, then all 4 will stay, otherwise he's gone...

Ronaldinho always played best with Barca (Eto'o, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta) all running into space for his creative passes and opening up space for him...

Ibra doesn't do that... but Pato does. We'll see how it all comes together next few months...

i think their is a good posibility that we could get ganso.. when we were linked with him i found an article saying he likes milan over all other clubs but he could move to the likes of real madrid or so on so fourth, this article was during the summer mercato i dont quite remember everything. but regardless i think milan will purchase one player in january. and probably have anohterr great summer mercato.. really we have no choice because many players that used to be our champions are going to be leaving etcetc. i think this year until 2011-2012 season end we are going to be doing some good rebuilding.. id stil pick neymar over any player in the world. if we were to buy him now, by the time hes 23-24 and starting to get some experience too we can build the team around him and put a pure striker like inzaghi type upfront like we used to do with sheva and pippo. i say this because ibra will be pushing 33-34 by that time robinho will be ronnies age.ronaldinho will definitely be out in 4-5 years time or playing small small games if it does so happen he retires at milan.. and ya so neymar would be a good long term replacement . neymar+ganso would be soooo gooddd

Difference is that Michael Owen put on too muscle for his frame, ergo getting the injuries whilst Pato could still put another few pounds on without negative effects.

It's just an age thing and that he's still growing. Also the fact that hes our most mobile player and has to run more with our slow-ass mid.

I don't buy the age and growth thing. Everyone in the game goes through this age and period and they arent chronically injured as Pato. Some poeple bodies just can't take the pounding (R9) is prime example.

Lets not forget also the american sports where they are much more phsyical and players those age don't seem to have problems like Pato is having. And were just talking about running and fitness with slight physicality in soccer compared to football or basketball.

These injuries are worrisome.

Bad news in Europe:

Germany:

Stuttgart and Leverkusen beat their opponents 3-0 and 4-0 respectively.

Italy:

Juve and Napoli draw at home with some unknown team 3-3 and Utretcht 0-0. Palermo lose away to Sparta Praha 3-2 (after a magical Pastore performance, u all should see him), and Sampdoria conceded a goal in the 89th minute to draw against PSV.

The thing is, UEFA takes the average coeffecient of all the Italians in Europe. With Inter drawing against Bremen, Roma losing to Bayern, and only Milan winning in Europe, Italians will 99% lose the 4th Champs League spot next year.

The Italian teams in Europe are a fking disgrace and are PATHETIC. They should all die. I hope the Italian FA speaks to them about the importance of these competitions and that we do well.

Managing to pass a round gives more points, so if Inter and Milan pass their first round, and if Juventus and Sampdoria also pass their first round, it's already good, no matter if they won, drawed or lost. It's not now it counts the most. What counts the most is to win the games in the table and qualify, qualify and qualify !!

If the German teams qualify for the first knock out game in each competition but all lose this round, then the Italian clubs will have a chance for example !!

Isn't it amazing how a guy from Jucilei's stature can convert a goal like that ? He is such a crack. And also down to earth, I have heard he dedicated his goal to his grandmother.
Yep, his gangling style is very deceptive. Jucilei is sooooo skilled and more important(for a mid), rarely miss a pass. And look, he doesn't always try the easy ones... He loves to do a "virada de jogo"(don't know in English), something like a long pass from the right to the left(or contrary) of the field and is always spot on. Amazing passing ability.

You're right, it was dedicated to his Grandma. Jucilei had a hard life growing up. Never met his father(the guy runaway before he was born), and his mother died when he was 13. After that, was raised by his Grandmother and it was beautiful to see Jucilei gratitude for her.

Btw, it's incredible how 4 years ago he was working as Bricklayer assistant, earning 3 euros a day to help his Grandma and now is in Brazil NT. Very down to earth guy and barring a injure, will be a star in Europe.

Mano calls him monster ? :1d31:
Lol... yep, Mano put this nickname. Funny thing is, Jucilei is a real Teddy bear... The guy plays tough and physical, but rarely get a yellow card or do a hard foul.

Now Corinthians fans call him Monster, too... But they also call him for several funny nicks as Blackenbauer, Jucilampard, JuciRei(Rei is King in portuguese) Jucilei Desailly, The Schweinsteiger of Fiel(Corinthians Ultras) and the list goes on...
Monster may be the word of the week, Neymar was nicknamed Monster due to his rebel week and his bad attitude in the last days. :grinser:

Terrible week for Neymar... But this monster label isn't fair, yet. The kid will be punished by Santos(deservedly), but he's far for a bandit or delinquent as I saw in another Milan forum a Brazilian calling him. There's trend in Brazil from all rivals to really hate on Neymar. It is like the way C. Ronaldo was hated in EPL by another team fans. The kid is just dazzled by success and imo was really ashamed today when he apologize for his coach, teammates and fans...

That said, what he did was horrible and I hope Mano Menezes don't call him for next Brazil game. It will help on his education. But he's far from a new Edmundo like some Brazilians fans are saying...

You're right, Geo...
With Berlusca "back"(I hope it's for real and not a fluke), we can compete with the prices of Ganso's and Neymar's type of players, too.

Lol... yep, Mano put this nickname.

Thanks Brasileiro for the information. Milan has had a strong connection with Brazilians the way Merda has had a connection with Argentines...

Can you just give a sentence describing each player..and who they most resemble in Europe.... I think right now Jucilei is the guy Milan needs most..more than Ganso or Neymar...

Ganso:
Neymar:

Are there any promising RB's? new Dani Alves'? Maicon's?

Good news ? Bad news ? I don't know ...
But after reading what said Allegri about her, I think she doesn't come for football !! :D

The best would be that Marina Berlusconi was interested, as she's among the most powerful women in the world, she knows how to manage a firm. The same can be said for Piersilvio Berlusconi. Barbara Berlusconi is just a young woman for moment and I don't think she has any key role in any firm.

But after that and when we know that Piersilvio is an absolute fan of the club, who knows if we won't be owned by the Berlusconi family for 30 more years ?!

R9 was steroid up like mad in PSV resulting in all the knee injuries later in career due to his ligaments/tendons not being able to cope.

Let's forget American sports. They don't have to perform as many movements that a football player does - agility and flexibility + all the rest periods they have during games.

If Pato was getting continues hamstring issues then your point would be correct, but he keeps getting small muscles tears which could be a poor training regime or diet.

mrki

Pato is developing phisically, he needs time.

Anyway, in the winter, for the sake of football - buy ONE good fullback so we can play for real. Its sad to see how Bonera plays on the right with Pato and Ibra, how Antonini cannot cross even if you create 15 clear chances for the cross ( oh, crossed once vs Auxerre!).

If Boateng and Flamini find their form and place in first 11 most of the games, and if Milan does get just one new fb who will be on the level which we need, in the second part of the season we can play seriousely in the CL.

If we stick with Seedorf, Pirlo, Ambro mid., with bonera as a RB in front of Zambrotta, we cannot go for the London final, Im 100% sure.

For serie a we just need balance and some more fitness. Without injuries we can win it. We have too much attacking power now with Ibra and Robinho + Boateng.

I need to see mroe matches to see how this team works, this is it for now. There will be more games as vs Cesena, where it wil be horrible to see what our defence can ( cant ) do. So its important to have moving midfield. More of Boateng and Flamini is the key!

I read some rumours saying that it could happened because with Milan he was following a certain training pattern and when he joined the brazil national team he trained on a different pattern for 1 week. In fact both him and Tiago Silva suffered musscle problems when they returned.

Not only because he's injury prone, but we aquired Robinho, I won't mind selling Pato in the next summer and purchase Dzeko. We'll loose some of the tricks and speed, but get strength and ball moving efficiency.

Robinho+Dzeko+Ibra>Dinho+Pato+Ibra

Your joking right? That's just an ignorant statement because your are totally biased. Have you watched american football? The absolutely beatings those men take? Have you watched basketball? The same basketball that requires you to play an uptempo game nonstop all game. The side to side, stop and go, up and down movements that put a pounding on ligaments and muscles?

What was wrong with Pato last year in CL? His hamstring. And what small muscle tears are holding him back? Tears means serious stuff. He can have muscle strains which means his muscles tire and get damaged. If thats the case, at 20 years old, he will be like that his whole life. There's a reason why youth years in all sports are your must prized, its because thats when your at your healthiest.

In my opinion starting at a younger age at a demanding club and schedule is tough, some can make it some can't. I doubt any of us can tell for sure which category Pato falls in. He is now 21, in my opinion if nagging injuries don't stop by 22 (or 23 latest) it is almost a certainty that he will be in more and continuous trouble beyond that age.

By the way my take on American sports...in all of them you have start and stops (time outs, switching lines, switching offense to defense) . In terms of stamina that makes them easier but in terms of athleticism, movement and stuff like it there is no difference.

Thanks Brasileiro for the information. Milan has had a strong connection with Brazilians the way Merda has had a connection with Argentines...Yep. Milan is very active in Brazilian market(on and off the field). Just last season, Milan reach the first place as the international team with more fans in Brazil. A huge achievement, because Barça and Real hype in South America is BIG.

Btw, Inter is slowly turning their eyes to Brazil, as in the near past they bought J. Cesar, Maicon, Motta, Lucio and now Coutinho. But we are still the #1 here...
Can you just give a sentence describing each player..and who they most resemble in Europe.... I think right now Jucilei is the guy Milan needs most..more than Ganso or Neymar...
I really don't like to label players after Europeans football stars, never likee these type of comparisons. But I will give a try...
Jucilei: Hard to find one... Today, if pressed, I would say a bigger Essien. With the arrive of Corinthians new coach(Adilson Batista), Jucilei was given a almost box-to-box role in Corinthians MID, and he's shining at it. I always thought Jucilei would be a much better player once he arrive in Europe, because there, they would use him as a box-to-box player. And after watch the last 7 games of his new role at Corinthians, I have no doubt about that. What is scary is he's showing that is even better technically than I thought... Imo, priority #1 in January.

Ganso: Ganso reminds me a left footed Zidane. Same pace, class... Ganso likes to play more deep than Zizou, and has a better work rate, but one more time, it's unfair to compare him with a legend like Zidane. I hope one day he gets there... Would be great to have him(or Giuliano) as our #10 next season.

Neymar: Reminds me a lot a 18yo Robinho, but being a much better prospect. Robinho was a very poor finisher at 18, but Neymar on the other hand is a amazing finisher. Really has CF skills. Plus, appears to be more faster, too. Not even Ganso at 18 played at his level... Imo, with Pato and Robinho at Milanelo, Neymar would be a luxury(a AMAZING one), but we have more glaring needs to fill...

Are there any promising RB's? new Dani Alves'? Maicon's? People here are raving about Mariano(from Fluminense), but I still saw little of him. To be honest, the games there I saw he was unimpressive. But he's getting a lot of praise here and to be fair, I only saw him playing 3 times this year.

I guy that I like a lot, and if coached(like Maicon and Daniel) maybe could turn into a complete fullback in Europe is Pará, from Santos. Amazing going forward, great effort at the back, but still raw at defending. Positional awareness on defense still need work, but with his willingness and work rate there(defense) I can see a improvement with the right coaching...

To be straight, every fullback prospect here nowadays is a high risk. At least the ones playing professional... Imo, a purchase of a guy like Mario Fernandes would be a much better(and smart) solution. He's a CB, but with skills(defensive&offensive) to play as fullback if needed. Amazing young player and one of the only 2 players that I saw stopping Neymar, Ganso and Robinho at his side playing RB, without rely on several fouls. The other one was Jucilei when played as RB against Santos...

Thanks, Reza!!! It's all speculation right now, guys...

The schedule in a big club in Brazil is even bigger than in Europe and teams here doesn't do the turnover. It was one season, but here Pato didn't have this injure.

Milan doctors need to investigate it deep. Still remember when Bebeto always had the same muscular injure several years ago, and after several months of research, Doctors found a dental problem that was starting the problem. Strange, but after that his muscular problems disappear...

David Luiz also had the same ankle problem for 2 seasons. I was worried at that time since he was becoming injure prone, but Benfica sent him to a specialist in USA, and he was healed. Messi too, spent 2 or 3 season with the same muscular injure some years ago, and now appears to be healed. Calm down, folks...

MilanLab need to step up

Enough with this sentimentality. We took their former players out of necessity. If they do the same just to get even with us (because they already have a fit Sneijder and a potential Coutinho at that position), then so be it.

Lets be smart and sell Gattuso in the inwter for osme money while we can. And add one young midfielder that has future and has freshness in his legs.

Then one fullback, left or right, as Antonini is actually a right footed player.

Inter WILL go on the market, there is no doubt. Morratti cannot just watch Milan buying players...

Brasiliero. From what I've seen, I would choose Ganso over Neymar this moment. As buying NEymar simply is not rational thing to do since we have 3 wide players. Even if Dinho leaves, I'd rather play with Ganso behind 2 CF's then 4-3-3. I gennerally dislike 4-3-3 so maybe coz of that... :)

Thats my point, my friend. Neymar potential is really unbelievable. Look at Ganso... at the age of Neymar(18) he wasn't playing at the same level(not even close), and now he's a amazing young player. It's just scary what Neymar could be if he keep his feet on the ground... But we are covered up front with Ibra, Pato and Robinho. As Brazilian it would be amazing to see Neymar in red&black, but as a Milan fan, it would be a dangerous luxury...

A Ganso or Giuliano type of #10 is a much more need right now. Ronaldinho is a joy to watch(at least for 20 minutes a game), but as I said SEVERAL times here, his presence unbalance all sectors of the team. It's time to play Pato at his real position and let him mature... He's our future, not Ronaldinho! Like you, I can't wait to get rid of this 4-3-3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At that time "The Blackenbauer"(I love this nick!!) was a virtually unknown even in Brazil... and just a few days after my first post hyping him here in MM, the news about Milan interest started to surface. Strange:confused:

Heck, a big part of the media bashed Mano Menezes when he called Jucilei last month to Brazil NT. You could see it was pure ignorance... and it's funny now, to see the same pundits praising him and already hyping him for the hunt to the Golden Ball in Brazil. I wish you guys understood portuguese to see how great is Jucilei as person, too. With his life history and behaviour, it's the type of person you want to see succeeding...

I agree.. End this 4-3-3 nonsense.. 4-3-1-2...

Coentrao, Bale, or someone else for Left Back.. then put Antonini as RB...

Bale maybe too expensive, but this is such an important position in the modern game, and with the way we have looked today against Catania...
Bonera and Antonini DON"T cut the mustard...

Jucilei,,, buy him and put Pirlo's lazy a$$ on the bench..can you imagine the energy of Flamini, KPB, and Jucilei... I would love it...

Robinho can play behind the 2 forwards, or he can be rotated with the two strikers, Pato, and Ibra...

Then go out and buy Honda OR Ganso for the trequartista role...

R80 has dissapointed me.. I mean against Lecce he looked like the R10 of Barcelona.. but the 3 games after, he's looked very poor.. As I've said before.. with Ronaldinho,, you can ONLY play a 4-3-3.. there are no other options

R80 has dissapointed me.. I mean against Lecce he looked like the R10 of Barcelona.. but the 3 games after, he's looked very poor.. As I've said before.. with Ronaldinho,, you can ONLY play a 4-3-3.. there are no other options

Only two Italians? Personally I would go for De Ceglie as left back and Poli as a center midfielder. Maybe not as good of quality but we are an Italian club and we should have Italian players. I would hate to see the club turn into Inter. Go like this.
----Antonini-------Nesta------Silva------De Ceglie-----
--------------Boetang---Poli-----Flamini-------
-----------------------Pirlo------------------
---------------Ibrahimovic--Pato-------------------
Robinho would come in when a midfielder is hurt and Pirlo moves to midfield

Italians are on the bench.. but Personally I'd sell Pirlo, and Gattuso, buy Poli or Palombo, but I'm not going to PLAY Italians just because they're Italian. Nazionale has been Crap since 2006... Balotelli, and Cassano are only players of value right now besides Ranocchia and Bonucci and they're ALL taken...

I'd keep Ambro as he's still ok once per week at most..

By the way your lineup is not good... Poli is now a STARTER for Milan? and Pirlo is suddenly a Trequartista?? haha what are you saying?

I'm glad to read it, Elmago... even more because I know you have Italian blood.

Our mgt always showed they want to keep a Italian core on Milan, and they are doing it. There's no need to be worried, guys. But like you said, to put a Italian on the team just because of his nationality is counter-productive.

We really need to come back to form our Italian talent, because the price of any above-average Italian player is ridiculous nowadays...

I think the problem is the same in Italy and England.

There is less and less place for the young Italian players because big clubs want players who are ready to shine now, not in 2-3 years. So they don't give any chance to the youth, and as a consequence, it looks like there is less and less potentially good Italian players (it's actually worse in England than in Italy as it started before in the UK).

Is there less talent in Italy nowadays than 10 years ago ? No, for sure. Each season, there are some new talents in the small clubs and more especially in the clubs coming from Serie B.

When you look at Cesena (of course, only 2 games so far), or Bari and Parma last season, you see there are still talented players in Italy and they could potentially be bought, and cheaply.

The problem is that we don't look at these clubs, if we buy an Italian player tomorrow, we will for sure look at the players of Sampdoria, Genoa, Palermo or Napoli, maybe Juventus, Fiorentina or Roma, but we won't have a look at the other clubs. And it's in these other clubs that there are the most potentially interesting Italian players. They are just a bit more anonymous because they are in a small club, and it's probably the main reason why we don't get them whereas they could probably make the jump into a big club and shine there.

The best example is Poli. The guy isn't really what can be called a future WC player, not nowadays (it can quickly change of course). Where does he play ? In Sampdoria ... And, it's weird, we're interested to get him, if we believe the rumours. If this guy was in Brescia, we wouldn't even know his name.

The reason for this problem ? Probably our scouts and management ... They don't want to take any risk. Brasiliero, I remember once you were asking for our management and scouts to take more risks in Brazil and not necessarely choose the most hyped players (for instance, you wanted us to take Jucilei when he wasn't really a player known by everybody: the result is we didn't take him "because his price was too high", I'm sure we didn't want to spend more than 5M for an unknown talent). Well, I think the same thing happens with the scouts and management even into their own country. Taking no risk leads us to have no surprises in our team as we know what can do most of our players.

As soon as we sell Dinho, Gattuso, let go of Seedorf, Oddo, MArek etc. we'll start to look like a TEAM.

Pirlo and Ambronini are players for future's Milan bench. Ambro fights and plays like a lion, while the way Pirlo plays is simply for Monthy Pyithon's (sp? show! Sad, sad football by Pirlo and Seedorf...

My fingers are crossed that Dinho goes in january and Milan invests into one good CM like Jucilei or someone, and then we can use Flamini, Jucilei, Boateng, Ambronini as first 3-4 players. Pirlo can play his own "football" now and then.

People keep sayinh how Seedorf has something.. has what? Shot? PAss? He has nothing right now.

4-3-3 is maybe possible with Pato on the elft, Robinho on the right, playing the defence, plus 3 super hard woprking players + one class FB at least...

Long, long way to go untill we'll see real Milan again... :)

We have Pato+Ibra up front - lets use it as it should be used, in 4-3-1-2!

Italians on the bench aren't helping Nazionale. We need to find Italians and play them regularly. As a big Italian club we must feed the national team. As a team we need to find Italians and develop them too. Let Simone Verdi play ahead of Inzaghi, let De Vito play and move Antonini to the right. Simple steps that we can do against small teams that will help our club and my national team in the future

Top Post is Excellent and I agree. I love Pirlo as he is a Milan and Nazionale Legend..he helped greatly win the World Cup, Club World Cup, Champions League, and I love him. However, he's finished. He should be a player off the bench..

We should try out Seedorf in that role right now, but Jucilei (and I've only seen him twice, but trust the analysis of Brasileiro) should be there in January.

4-3-1-2 should be the system, END OF STORY..

We need another left back, and I'm not sure if De Vito is ready. If not, go buy one. Antonini should then play on the right as he currently offers little on the left.

Ronaldinho should go, not because he's bad, but because AS WE"VE SAID SO MANY TIMES he can only be used in a static 4-3-3, he doesn't track back, and our midfield is too weak...

This is what I'd like to see:

------------------Amelia------------
---Antonini---Nesta--T. Silva---Coentrao---
----------KPB----Jucilei----Flamini--------
-----------------Robinho-------------------
-------------Pato--Ibrahimovic-----------

And for you those that are SOOO worried about not enough Italians.. There are 3 starting Italians in that lineup... And a lot on the bench...

IN: Coentrao (or someone of the like), Poli, Jucilei, 1 or 2 other RB/LB's to replace ageing Defence
Out: Jankulovski, Oddo, Bonera, Seedorf, Ronaldinho

Don't have an official list, but found some info at a forum claiming that in the summer of 2011:
Seedorf, Ambrosini, Pippo, Ronaldinho, Nesta, Jankulovski, Abbiati, Roma

And in the summer of 2012: (might be significant to us because whoever doesn't sign an extension until the summer might be sold so we don't risk losing them on free)
Pirlo, Gattuso, Flamini, Zambrotta, Oddo, Onyewu, Yepes

The future of our team should be Jucilei, Boateng ( still raw, but with 23 years of age has a good experience all round and will be better playing for Milan. Even now his phisical presence and power are great), Flamini, Fossati, player like Poli, Pato, Robinho, Ibra for next 2 years then Mario for sure:), and Thiago. The rest needs to be cleared summer by summer, starting with Seedorf, GATTUSO, Dinho this summer + finding one fb that can play.

Brasiliero, I've heard there is a defender called Rodrigo Ely, a brasilian, who's manager is Raiola ( and Raiola is one of the best scouts in the world ). Somesay he is a great potential. He is now at Milan primavera but has some problems getting the italian passoprt or something. Do you know anything about him? When at such age and coming from Brasil, Raiola is your agent, then you're worth something.

Also, have you seen Hernanes in LAzio? I've seen him vs Viola! The man plays such beautifull, beautifull football its simply joy to watch! He played behind 2 CF's, and did very well. He has room for improvement for sure, as soon as he makes the team his own. Hut the passing, DRIBBLING, phisical power, its all there. And he moves very well and smart, unilke Pirlo, Seedorf etc.

...................Amelia...............

Antonini....Nesta...Silva...Coentrao

Boateng......Poli.........Flamini.....

..Pato.....................Binho

...............Ibra................

And everyone else on the bench , If we signed them next summer I'd be happy with maybe getting rid of Dinho Seedorf Zambro Pippo Janku Oddo , and just having Strasser Verdi DeVito Merkel in the first team always.and maye playing Binho behind a front of Pato + Zlatan for a 4-3-1-2

Crisp: If we could invest into one good fullback this winter, at least, I think our best solution would be to play Robinho in the middle:
----------Abbiatti.--------
--Antonini-Nesta-Thiago-LB--
-----------Ambro-----
-----Flamini----Boateng--
----------Robinho------
--------Ibra---Pato---

ONE class fullback and we have 4-5 players able to attack well. Compact midfield, that is NOT without passing coz Robinho can play deep, Ibra also, Pato also, Prince all round and Flamini CAN pass enough.

This 4-3-3 suicide needs to stop now.

So what are you going to do when they retire? Retire Milan too?

You must prepare for their retirement NOW..because they are for sure on the down hill and building speed... They are not the same players as 3-5 years ago.. you need to realize that. It's time to rotate them in CM, not playing both at the same time.. also, preparing for a Milan WITHOUT them... maybe a Jucilei or Ganso....Poli....

I'm not talking about future, I'm talking about present. I agree Allegri shouldn't play the both of them at the same time, but one of them is ESSENTIAL. Anyway, how do you guys expect us to play with midfield of players who can't play a simple one-two?! Ambrosini, Flamini, even Boateng, they need at least one technically strong, smart player beside them.

Talking about future, I don't know why all of you are so in love with Brazilians, I don't know what we'll do when 6+5 rule is applied? Change the whole team? Forget Ganso, forget Jucilei, we should go for Italians, first get Poli as a Pirlo's replacement, and then we'll see. Why we're suddenly looking for some SB from Brazil and only from Brazil (looking for the new Cafu or Maicon or whatever) when there are very talented side backs in Italy, starting with De Ceglie, Criscito, etc.

I don't know, mrki... Never heard of this boy. Imo it's strange a Brazilian club let a pearl get out for nothing. The majority of the young guys leave Brazil so young(without a proper payment), don't turn into great players. I hope this Rodrigo Ely becomes a great player for us, but the odds aren't good...

Also, have you seen Hernanes in LAzio? I've seen him vs Viola! The man plays such beautifull, beautifull football its simply joy to watch! He played behind 2 CF's, and did very well. Like I wrote here years ago, very small chance Hernanes turn into a flop in Europe(talent, personality, used to pressure, hard-worker...) or not adapt to Serie A. Btw, this Serie A thing is really overrated if you do your homework, and not only look for the talent of the player... and keep in mind he's playing out of position at Lazio(behind the CF).

Plus, how many times Leo asked for him to Berlusconi? :moan: I'm sure Lazio right now don't think 13/15 millions is too much for a player coming from Brazilian league.

Neymar, Pato, Ganso, Robinho, Hernanes, Jucilei, Ramires, Coutinho, Lucas... Brasil is getting ready for the WC? :)
The base is being shaped:
GK is undecided right now
RB: D. Alves, Maicon, Rafael...
LB:Marcelo, A. Santos, Fabio, Dodô...
Cb's: Alex, T. Silva, David Luiz, Mario Fernandes, R. Toloi, Sidnei...
DM/MD: Jucilei, Ramires, Sandro, Hernanes, Arouca, Lucas, Elias...
AMD: Ganso, Giuliano, Coutinho and there's a promising 17yo starting to shine in São Paulo first team at Brasileirão, called Lucas.
FW: Pato, Robinho, Neymar, Nilmar, Andre, Marquinhos(Inter). We lacked a big CF here, but I hope the Leandro Damião guy at Inter develop into this player.

I hope Mano don't pull a Dunga. He needs to keep the list opened, because I have no doubt some amazing talents will show up until 2014.

There's one thing that bothers me about a part(small) of our fan base, is the way some people want to appear more Italian than the real Italians.

Any one with a open mind knows we always keep a core of Italian players. When I became a fan of Milan, it was Italian/Dutch mix and I had no problem with that.

Funny the Italians I talk here in Brazil, have the same way to see the things like you, Reza. They want to keep a core of Italians, but not at expense of a strong team. Thats why imo, our management spent tons of money in our youth squads this season. Like in England, the price of a Italian players is ridiculous. And the great ones aren't on the market.

But don't need to send me a PM, I will keep answering about Brazilians here(if asked), or talking about players we are linked even if it bothers the wannabe :)

Agree with this although I look at other attributes beyond the technical.

Physical and mental attributes are just as important as technical attributes in today's game and it's a balance you need to get right. Perfect example is Pirlo in that we have a gifted technical player and needs other players around him to strike up a balance to make up for his lack of presence and pace (Gattuso pre 2008).

Tuttomercato says Bale's price is around 20mln euro... That is, in my oppinion, more then a good deal considering that man is one of the best wide players in the world, and is 20.

Money from Marek's wages, Onyewu, Oddo, Seedorf wages, Gattuso ( all useless players ) needs to be invested in one class player. By all standards Milan needs a fullback like him.

But rumors say Mourinho wants him in there so...

Also, its interesting to see now hoe Leonadro wanted Hernanes for past 2 years, said that Ganso is the player he likes in that U20 WC where we all looked at Giliano, and wanted Bale in Milan when the price was around 4-5mln 2 years ago! Nice, Galliani...

I hope we won't go for a player like Bale ... that would mean we plan to use this 4-3-3 formation again and again !!

All I hope is that once Ronaldinho will be gone (or even before), we'll use again some more balanced formation (4-3-3 is balanced with some conditions, 4-3-1-2 is more balanced even with a static midfield) ...

I don't care about the names of the players we buy, I care more about their favourite position/role in a team.

I agree. Ronaldinho was a great talent, but look what he's done to us. He forces us to ONLY play this 4-3-3 with our static midfield, it's not working. Not to mention how STATIC he is without the ball, he can't beat defenders anymore, he doesn't move, and Ibra does not like this system.

I have many critiques of what we should do but this formation and this choice of midfield is NUMERO UNO.

4-3-1-2 is only thing that makes sense to me at this time. Only other option which is not good but better is a 4-2-3-1 with Flamini and Prince staying PUT in the back with R80/R70/Ibra/Pato all up top... but I don't like that idea but anything is better than this 4-3-3 with gattuso pirlo...etc

I would buy Poli, Jucilei, and a LB (Coentrao) or another promising defender...any ideas?

Temporary Solution:

--------------------Amelia/Abbiati--------------------
----Zambrotta-----Nesta--T. Silva------Antonini-----
-----------Boateng----Pirlo----Flamini----------------
---------------------Robinho---------------------------
-----------------Pato---Ibrahimovic-------------------

Solution in January:

---------------------Amelia/Abbiati--------------------
Antonini/Zambro----Nesta--T. Silva----Coentrao/Bale--
------------Boateng----Jucilei----Flamini--------------
------------------------Robinho--------------------------------
-------------------Pato---Ibrahimovic-------------------------

Key Points:

* 3 Box to Box Midfielders
* Ibra as SUPPORT striker who's able to switch roles with Pato
* Pato plays as last man ..using his speed to his effectiveness playing off of Ibra
* Robinho with FREEDOM
* No Ronaldinho
* A strong LB with Antonini/Zambro rotated at RB

SUBS:

Btw, confirmed by one of the best side-line Reporter in Brazil(Fernando Fernandes) at the Santos X Corinthians game last night. A group of Juve people(scouts, directors) were at the game yesterday to watch "The Monster" live. NO word of Milan people...

Good news: With the absence of Paulinho and Ralf, Jucilei played more deep, in a holder role and rarely goes forward.
Bad news: The first time he goes forward, set up Corinthains first goal with a amazing play.

Lets hope we don't miss on the Blackenbauer like we did with Hernanes. He was cheap in August(6 millions for Napoli, Dinamo Kiev, PSG and 8/10 M for us), but we never bid. Jucilei turned down some offers because he wants a big club. With Leo gone(as scout), I'm afraid we aren't even look at him...

Roma's new signing Marco Borriello believes the penalties his side were denied in Brescia last night would have been given if it were Milan instead.

The Giallorossi lost 2-1 at the Rigamonti and felt the referee did them no favours, especially in light of Philippe Mexes' harsh sending off.

Interviewed on Sky Italia, Borriello said: “There were two, perhaps three penalties for us.

“These things never happened to us at Milan. [Last night] I understood the difference between playing for Roma and Milan.

“Anyway we are a great team and we will react. We know how to start again.

“To think that when Russo refereed a Milan match he even asked for my shirt. Now he won't even exchange a few words with me.”

Spurs wouldn't sell Bale for 20 million euros, they turned down higher offers for him in the summer.

Don't forget that Spurs are playing Bale as a left-winger while they play Assou-Ekotto at left-back. Bale's defensive skills were a little questionable to begin with, but then he was moved further forward so now he doesn't have to worry too much about it, just on tracking back which he can do all day.

It's a nice idea and the kind of player we'd need (hard working), don't see it happening though.

Shame we didn't get Hernanes. A midfield of Flamini-Hernanes-Boateng would have been pretty decent.

Yep, I'm happy for Giuliano. Let's hope he shows at senior Brazil NT the talent he displayed at under-20 and in Internacional.

Regarding Marcelo, I don't know if it has something to do with the fact he asked for a dismiss(because of injure) in the last call, and two day later was training with Real Madrid. I hope not, because it would be bad for Brazil and the player.

Hernanes maybe is to make room for Elias and Wesley call up.

Jucilei case is strange, because now he's playing even better(and is more hyped by the press) than when he was called up for the first time. But there are 2 facts maybe explain his absence. First, Mano is trying out a lot of players and called Elias and Wesley. Second, and related to Elias, Brasileirão don't stop for those friendlies(unlike Serie A, La Liga, EPL...), and since Mano wants to test Elias, I'm almost sure he didn't want to hurt even more Corinthians(leader of Brasileirão) calling Jucilei, too. It's probably the real reason...

Right now Mano is just in a experimental phase and it's hard to know what is his favorite group. A thing we will only know for sure next season. But one thing is becoming obvious, the players that I bold are clearly front runners. Also, keep in mind some of these players are for Olympic team...

P.S.The only big NO for me are in the Jeferson(GK) and in Rever(CB) choices.

I dont agree Geo. Bale plays LM in 4-4-2, he also played LB for Tottenham. Now Ekotto is the LB, but Bale can do it. For a young player of such class there is no problem in developing some of his defending in a club like Milan. Its not like he is a defender without a head like Abate, he is just used in midfield right now becouse he contributes more to the team.

And also, it doesnt mean we'll play 4-3-3, why would it mean that? Bale can play in 4-3-1-2 without any problems. If Sergio could play LB for us, Bale for sure can. Not only that, he'll be the best attacking fullback in the world, Im 100% sure.

Maicon in Monaco... take a look at his defending 5,6 years ago etc.

Well, Bale never was really impressive as a LB, and losing his place for Assou Ekoto means he wasn't good because Assou Ekoto is an average LB.

Bale seems to be amazing as a LM/LW, and I think with all these games he has played in midfield, he will now play his whole career in midfield. Furthermore, in England, a player like Bale can have a place in the midfield of all big clubs (Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United use this kind of player), so it's unlikely he will come to Milan to play as a LB I think.

If we take Bale to use him as a LB, it will mean we don't know what to do IMO, because instead of looking for a proper LB, we will take a LM/LW and force him to play behind ?!

Both for Milan and Bale, such a transfer should never happen, unless we want to have Bale to "replace" Ronaldinho on the left flank (with Bale instead of Ronaldinho, there would be less killer passes, but the team would be more balanced and Bale runs a lot more, so there would be one more solution when going forward). And in this case, that means we will still play a kind of 4-3-3, it's what I meant. I'm not for taking a player and use him in another position he's not used to (Bale is used to play as a LB but isn't good enough there), so when you say we could take Bale, I immediately think that if we take him, he'll be a LM/LW.

Not sure he can play in a 4-3-1-2.

About Maicon, it's a miracle, in Monaco, he was ridiculous, both in defence and going forward. He wasn't even really good physically. It's what I said once, I don't know who decided in Inter to take him, I don't know how they did to make him improve this way, but they have to get credit for that (just for that, 'cause Inter is full of "use any insult you like"). This kind of progression is unlikely to happen to any player.

And Pastore has to come in Milan to make the jump into the highest level of football (and also because he would allow us to be back at the highest level, both the club and the player win at the end :D).

Don't agree at all. He hardly ever plays LB for Tottenham, and when he has, most of the time he has been a weak point defensivly. Don't understand what you see in him that points to him being better at defending than actual LB's who are excellent going forward like Marcelo for one, or one of the million good wingers out there.

Not gonna say he can't be a good LB, cause he's very young, but so far he hasn't shown anything that suggests he's anything special as a LB, at least not worth buying from Tottenham for what they want for him.

Borriello has always had a big head (figuratively and literally speaking). He thinks he is the best there is in the business even though he is only a capable player. What was the point of playing Amelia in Preseason and buying him if he wasn't going to play anyways. he played well in Preseason and now hes on the bench.

As for the Winter Mercato.. we still don't know what will happen. It depends on how we do from now until then.

Let's see if Allegri is a MORON like I think or he uses his brain. If he uses his brain, Ronaldinho will be benched and we will adapt a better formation for our midfield, Ibra, and Pato (4-4-2, 4-3-1-2)

If that's the case then R80 will be sold in January, and we will possibly buy a playmaker or another forward.

We will still have Ambro, Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso to replace in the NEAR future. When do you guys think we will ACTUALLY replace these guys?

I think a creative midfielder is priority number 1. Also, if you have Ganso or Jucilei, or even Honda or VdV, you no longer need Pirlo IMO.

to be honest the only good thing boriello had was his will to keep playing and not give up. ibra only runs 2-3 times in a game and has scored us 3 goals overall in 5-6 matches. boriello lacks ball control, skill , somewhat accuracy with his shots although they are powerful .. but he does not have the characteristics to play for a top club - and with that attitude tbh he wont be going too far. i think huntelaar is a good striker, not amazing not like boriello but inbetween.. i wouldnt have minded keeping him since inzaghi wil be retiring soon...
anyhow- biggest concern of mine is allegris hard ons for gattuso and bonera.. they should NOT be regular starters.. i thought flamini wasnt available against lazio, when i saw him coming in as a sub and gattuso was in the entire game i was completely suprised.. and bonera? id pick zambro over him any day.. for that matter any full back on our team. and we need to put amelia in net!!

ALSO BIG CONCERN nobodys really making a big deal out of it but think about it. PIRLO for the last years has been one of the biggest reason we win games - he starts or finishes almost every goalscoring play even for italy, hes the main man . we need a player at his quality or better because he isnt preforming to par so far this season im not impressed @ all

I was thinking along the same lines. I think he should bench Dinho and not rely on him anymore. Play wither 4-4-2 or 3-1-2, with the entire team focussing first on defense, defense should be the first priority. Sit back, absorb, frustrate and counter, sit back, absorb, frustrate and counter fast and efficiently when given the opportunity...or like someone else mentioned, we should pressure the ball high up in the field, the strikers should pressure the opposition defenses and deep lying players. Secondly, I would like to see more quick counterattacks using our speedy players to bring the ball forward.

Off-topic:

Last night I had a dream that we played against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. I was watching the game and within the first 10 minutes it was 2-0 for them. We were getting completely owned. I closed the TV and came back to see the last 5 minutes it was 10-0. They were putting highlights of what happened in the game, they also said Merkel was Milan's best player at Left Back (???) and they don't understand why Allegri sub'd him, despite Pirlo and Seedorf both running to Allegri telling him to keep him on the field. TEN-zero against Real..life cannot continue if that was true. All a dream though...

back to topic:

What ever happened to that highly promising youngster we saw in pre-season...and all those promises by Allegri to not only use one formation, but adjust formation depending on the score and team.....

where is Merkel anyway? I really believe, not just saying that because I want to see a change, that we should try Flam - Merkel - KPB in the middle, ideally with Robinho as a trequartista tracking back, with the two strikers up front. Merkel is young and unexperienced, clumsy and weak...however the more chances he gets with the team the faster he'll learn.

Ideally - in January - we would aim to get a carbon copy player of Hernanes. Jucilei is more defensive and does not make the team and his pitch his own like Hernanes, but looks very good this season. Fabregas is a dream (that will leave Arsenal next year) but there are other options such as Pastore (dream #2), Fernando of Porto. Dreams do happen - just look at our strikers compared to last year.

We should really look into investing into the market this January. I mean, we have to, we can't waste that precious Non-EU spot can we?

First of all, Hysterical dream.....

More like a NIGHTMARE..

As far as the mercato goes, I think many of us believe we should buy an attacking mid or a CM like Jucilei if Robinho can succeed at the Trequartista role....
Think of the quick counter attacks with this formation:

---Boateng---Jucilei---Flamini---
-------------Robinho------------
--------Pato------Ibrahimovic---

Or something like this:

----Boateng---(Pirlo/Merkel/Poli)---Flamini---
--------(Ganso/Honda/Pastore/Hernanes)-----
------------------Pato---Ibrahimovic----------

First SUB: Robinho

Think about the possibilities when you sell R80.... :p017:

Hitmann - last year I dreamed Milan won the scudetto in the last round vs Juve at our home game... It was while we had a chance. So, do not be afraid :) ALDOUGH, my friend juventino had a dream that Zambro plays for Milan while he was still at Juve. :)

I agree Jucilei is more defensive, but he not a defensive player like Ambrosini/Gattuso. Yes, we all saw now who is Hernanes... we'll... Leo asked for him, and last summer Braida asked for Pastore!

There are 2 positions that are primar now in january: fullback and a player like Jucilei. I mention him oftenly coz he is the best possible investment for such money. We can talk about Fabregas, Pastore ( Zampanini to sell to Galliani? Yes, for 50mln! ) etc., but that is not gonna happen.

Jucilei and one good fb, and in the summer the solution of 3rd CB, and CAM. That is not too much, and we'd gain a LOT.

I dont agree that Flamini + Jucilei + Prince would work... none of them have that Pastore/Pirlo/Fabregas/Essien type of creativity... they are all solid box to box players than can all attack and defend... I don't know if that is enough though... it would be still nice to have a midfielder who can launch long balls to the full backs and have some vision for through passes to the striker....

That midfield would be rock solid and great defensively.. I would be worried though that it might be difficult to create chances.

you guys will probably think im the biggest idiot but does anyone ever think of putting silva midfield? he makes some nice runs and i like his shot.. he also has pretty accurate passing.. but then again hes really good at cb so i guess just keep him there.. we need the defense anyways. ANYWAYS WE NEED A GOOD MIDFIELDER FFS thats why we dont create chances the last few years all we been doing is buying forward after forward we shouldve never got rid of gourcuff..

If we can get Jucilei, allow Strasser and Merkel to grow we could have a mobile midfield for next season, but the main thing is to offload the old boys who area always there 0 rino, seedorf, pirlo & ambro.

Well, if Brasiliero isn't wrong, Jucilei has the ability to create chances, he's not just a defensive midfielder. Anyway, just imagine a midfield with Flamini, Jucilei and Boateng, and instead of the attacking trio we have nowadays, add a classical AM (or Pastore ? :D), behind Ibra and Pato (or Robinho) ...

We would be solid, very solid.

why the hype on a player who can't def and has to yet to play good against any quality teams. His age is no indication of him getting better. Just sign an unknown from Brazil or give De Vito a chance.

It turns out both Krasic and Hernanes are players of high class and are worthy of Milan's first 11. Price was 15mln for both of them. Its not a small investment, but it would have been an excellent move for players in their prime with 4 year contracts etc.

With Boateng who so far turned out well, and one of them ( for example Krasic on the right and Boateng on the left in place of Seedorf ) our midfield would look MUCH stronger and with more power.

Im just talking about our mid., as midfield needs an investment in january, aldough I dont think it will happen untill SEedorf, Rino, Pirlo loose their contracts etc.

Fingers crossed for Bale in the summer, that would be a class deal that would add a level more to our team!

As far as Im concerned there is a place for 5 brasil playersin Milan: Thiago, Jucilei, Ganso, Pato and Robinho. That is not too much, Inter has Cesar, Coutinho, Lucio, Maicon, Mancini... Who cares anyway!

From italian players there are prospects like Bonucci who went to Juve and Rannocchia who was hailed by Allegri and other coaches but is 50% Inter player. I havent seen Rannochia enough to say more. There is Poli who I have also missed seeing more then 2 times so...

As far as Im concerned I would say yes to one investment in january and one class like Bale in the summer. With the addition of some young players.

Its important to add CLASS young players, but not too young players. Players of 22-24/5 years are just the right material.

Alsom has anyone seen Schielloto from Cesena more? Moggi talked well about him saying he is a "campione" and is advising Juve to buy him.

Ok few things:

1- Bale: Very strong, very fast, good crossing and shooting ability. I've seen him once or twice and reminds me a tad of Kolarov. I'm sure being in Italy and in particular, they will work on his defensive abilities, and as a LB you can make up for defensive abilities with tactical abilities. Plus you can always improve your defense while you cannot improve speed, technical ability after age of 20. However, a Brit in Italy may not settle in well. What are other choices?

2- Jucilei is NOT a normal DM. I watched one game and have seen many youtube clips. I'd love to have him instead of Pirlo. Pirlo, while I love him and have mountains of respect, feel it's time for him to move over, he's lost it.

Btw, Brasileiro, are you a Corinthians fan? Who do you support in Brazil? And GeoTav, how did you become a Milanista from France? Who do you support if anyone in France?

Regarding Brazilians, we need to make two moves, now. Jucilei in and Ronaldinho out. Today first-half really summarizes the actual Ronnie. 2 great plays, lots of mistakes and ZERO effort. Anyone saw Gattuso screaming at him after won a head ball and Ronaldinho giving no effort to save the ball from the throw in??

It's not the ideal, but better than him playing as RW. Can't believe Allegri is playing him there... Our best player is Pato and we put him one more year out of position?!?! I'm all for Robinho there supporting Pato and Ibra.

Not a fan of Corinthians, Elmago. My team in Brazil is EC Bahia, 2 times Brazilian Champion(the last in 88/89) and now in Serie B. :sigh:

Maybe for this, I consider myself unbiased regarding Brazilians players to Milan. The only player we form and was Milan material is now out of our reach(Daniel Alves). The only thing we have is WC is our fans. Even in Serie C(yep, we fell that far) we put 70.000 fans at Stadium in our games.

I think Pato & Robinho play out of position because of Dinho, if we sell him or don't consider him as starter, things will surely get better.

I haven't watch Robinho playing much, but as I saw in this match, this guy is great at counter attacking and more comfortable on the left (LF). He (maybe) doesn't have the creativity but his decision is quick and effective. we really need player like that.

Robinho is a second striker IMO. I'm not so sure he can be an attacking midfielder, but like Brasileiro said...he'd do much better there then out wide. And you can tell that he prefers to be more central too, as he roams around the field a lot. He doesn't like to hug the line and keeps on looking for space.

If we do take out Ronaldinho out of the line up.....I'd like to try playing Robinho and Pato as second strikers/supporting strikers to Ibra. Why not have two second strikers. We will pretty much look like a xmass tree but with Robinho and Pato both running through an alternating being more like forwards rather then midfielders. So they'd be further up the field compared to what Seedorf and Kaka were for example when we set up similarly. But the biggest difference is the movement that they will do......knowing that naturally they are forwards.

So we might end up looking different in different situations:

--------Ibra-------
---Binho---Pato---

----Ibra--Pato---
-------Binho-----

---Binho---Pato--
-------Ibra------

---------Pato--
---Binho-Ibra--

etc..etc.....but you get the point. Pato and Binho running off of Ibra. And vice versa. All of them alternating in running through in the box. It's a very difficult thing to handle defensively because you are never really sure who picks up the runs. Midfielders or defense, etc. Roma played in a something of a similar way under Spalleti a few years ago. But he had all his midfielders running through and alternating. Deep midfielders as well. At times you could see 3,4 of their midfielders in the box just running through. It's a very hectic thing to handle if you are defending.

I am not suggesting that we do the same exact thing, but only saying that we can do that with Binho and Pato. You can see how effective Boateng's runs from midfield are. He does that very well, and when it happens usually defenses are confused because they are not really fast enough on figuring out who picks up the run. We scored our first Auxerre goal in a similar way.

Anyhow.....just an idea.

A rate him very high, P.M!

You right, he isn't like Jucilei, but on the other hand, they are different players. Sandro is a enforcer, a real #5 and Jucilei is a box-to-box. Sandro is a bigger version of Makelele, Mascherano...

I almost create a account in BBC 666 when I saw a Spurs fan moaning he isn't like Sócrates. I was astonished with the comparison and did a little research on Google. For my surprise, I found two quotes from Redknnap(sp?) saying "he never saw the kid playing"(how you buy a player you never saw?!?!) but trust the opinion of Spurs scout saw him(ok, it's fair), and second, and more incredible, comparing him to Sócrates?!?!? Sócrates?!?! Seriously!?!:wallbang:

How do you(a professional coach) compare a enforcer, a true #5 with Sócrates?! A former CF turned into a offensive midfielder. I feel bad for Sandro, because the expectations will be unfair. Plus, it's soooo easy to watch a Brasileirão game nowadays with the internet. How can a Spurs fan, in London, don't take 2 hours to watch a future purchase of his own team playing to take real conclusions? And EPL fans don't like when people bash them ignorants regarding world football...

Sandro is the typical #5, that play in front of the 2 CB's, but far form a one dimensional DM like Gilberto Silva or Rinno. A real captain, skilled, a player you can count in every situation, and you can "go to war". But he will never be a Hernanes or Jucilei...

I have no doubt about that. At his age, Ronaldinho will not accept a bench role, and to sell him will be good for both, Milan and player.

He (maybe) doesn't have the creativity but his decision is quick and effective. we really need player like that. Robinho, since his start at Santos at 18yo always showed he's more comfortable starting from the left. Not as a winger, but as a second striker. I don't understand the fixation of coaches in Europe to turn him into a wide player. It's already proved he can't do it. On the other hand, give him a free role, and the guy will bring so much movement to the team, will create so much space... I said it for year here, like Neymar, Robinho is at his best playing one touch football and a roaming the field. They aren't good holding onto the ball like Messi or Robben. Thats not their game.

Give Robinho a free role behind Pato and Ibra. Let Pato play more up front as a CF and Ibra moving out of the box to chase and hold the ball and our attack will be 2x better. I just hope Allegri has the courage to bench Ronaldinho and Berlusconi don't complain from the stands...

If we score 5 goals... then Berlusconi can't say anything..

I too like the idea of Robinho in a "free role".. he does like to play 1 touch and roam but I also have found that he can take on defenders with step-overs and quick moves...Ronaldinho cannot anymore. He NEVER takes on a defender...

I also like the idea of Ibra having freedom and not playing as a penalty box striker. He can do that, but not the majority of the time. Pato on the other hands, has proven he can shoot with his head, and he's the fastest on the team (w Abate)... He can play off the shoulder of the last defender and beat almost anyone.

The Main Question is... If these 3 click this season, yes Ronaldinho will be gone, but is it then necessary to replace him with a pure ACM or would that be too many attackers. Perhaps Jucilei type would be better...

------------------Pato----------------------
---------------------Ibrahimovic (free)-----------
---------------Robinho (free)---------------------
----------Flamini--Jucilei--Boateng----------------

Strasser, Merkel, Verdi, will be future as well...

Here you have a midfield who is solid, (3 box to box) and Jucilei can be creative with Boateng being another guy to enter the final third...

The other option is to simply buy an ACM like Ganso/Honda/VdV/Hamsik/Pastore... and then rotate Pato/Ibra/Robinho.....

In this case you will not need to buy a new striker. However, if we take my recommended lineup above, after selling Ronaldinho and Inzaghi has 1 maybe 2 more years at MOST.. you will need to get back Paloschi, or Adiyiah, or buy another semi quality striker of Huntelaar/Borriello level....

Then looking at the Defense.. that's a whole other conversation...

If Jucilei is the defensive type, then it would be good for us. Did you watch the match last night? Prince was bursting forward in the first half so constantly it was scary, same for Flamini in the second half when he came on (he just needs his scoring boots now:D). With a midfield trio of them, I think we'd have a really dynamic middle that will go forward and back when necessary, sort of like how Barca plays.

For years I was saying EPL fans do not know much about football, as strange as it may sound. Their commentators on TV do not know much ( or do not think ), their papers also... Its a strange football world in the island, where everyone thinks football is only about running and what Lineker(sp?) says.

Hitmann - I do not see a problem with a team of Flamini/Ambrosini-Jucilei-Boateng-Robinho-Pato-Ibra. Boateng is NOT a defensive player, actually he is an offensive player as far as I know him... better on the LEFT then on the right as he now plays.
.................Flamini----------
-----Jucilei------Boateng----
------------Robinho----
-------Ibra-----Pato-----

That is just one investement from a VERY strong mid-attck, that has phisical power and can pass. Robinho plays fast football, so does Pato, and Ibra is a player that creates spece behind him with his holding's and passes etc. We havent had so strong CF since Sheva, we need to use it with players around him that MOVE.

Now, there is the question of 12., 13., 14., player in the squad etc... but we are now talking about first 11 and Jucilei. Maybe Merkel, Stasser, Fossatti can show more this year...Verdi... who knows... El Sharaawi :) Pastore :)

I didn't mean to say you don't like Jucilei, hitmannq8. If that was the impression of my post, sorry about that. My disagreement is in the fact you put him as the same type as Prince, Flamini or others DM. Thats where I disagree...

Yep, he isn't Fabregas/Pirlo/Hernanes(very few are at the world) type, but on the other hand, he can(too) keep possession, create and score. Plus, he brings more power and pace. Thats lead to another point. Jucilei is a strange player to create a comparison, or define a role. Just like Gerrard or Essien, he can be your DM, but if needed, your box-to-box player, too. Jucilei is in the middle of the road between to be a Pirlo/Hernanes or a Flamini/Prince type. One more time, I'm not talking about the style, but in what he brings to the table.

There's one thing we may want to consider... Milan had a great chance to find/bring a new Pirlo in Hernanes. For some reason(unlike with Kaká, Pato, T. Silva) our board didn't trusted Leo(some says our board thought he was too slow for Serie A :wallbang: ). So, maybe now is the time to play without a "Pirlo" in the mid. Not every winning team possesses this type of player and I can't see one in the market right now. Not every winning 4-3-1-2 or 4-4-2(diamond) have a Pirlo type.

In January, a mid with
-----------Flamini------------
---Jucilei-----------Boateng--

...could do wonders for our team. And this come from a guy(me) is not a fan of Prince(I think people are over hyping him), but that can't deny his efforts. Next season we bring a real(and young) AMD and we will be on the right track.

One thing I have no doubt, we need a strong and organized team fast not only to win, but to make our BIG spend on youth team worth, too. The odds are just a few of those kids will make it to the first team(and contribute), but we will need a different team to at least improve them(odds). If not, tons of money will be lost...

Yep, the same type of movements.

Regarding one touch, at the time Seedorf came to Ronnie place, we started to get a glimpse of it. For to have it(one touch football), we need movements and players changing positions. With Ronaldinho holding the ball at the left, we became hostage of his glimpses of talent, but also as a team, slow and easily to be defended. Btw, after his last game at Santos, Robinho only real game was with Brazil vs USA. So, he's far behind regarding form and it will come with time...

Talking about form, have you guys see why I was so against Adriano at Milan, even for free?? The guy still is out of shape and yesterday show one more time how selfish he is. Sure, Rannieri is a prick, but look at the reactions of Robinho(with Allegri putting him at 88) and Adriano yesterday. Two dumb moves by the coaches but 2 different reactions.

Like I said it thousand times, Robinho don't deserve to be put in the same sentence as Adriano and others trouble makers...

The other difference between Adriano and Robinho is that Robinho seems to enjoy playing football actually: dribbling, giving solutions, trying to score, passing, the guy is able to do anything, and he seems to be happy to do it. Adriano ? It looks like playing football is a problem for him, it looks like he is bored and only thinks about what he'll do after the game (anyway, an Adriano in form is a killer and is also impressive to watch, the question is to know if he'll ever be in form again, which I doubt about).

I agree, I never understood why Robinho got such a reputation here in Europe.

About his performance, I really think he adds alot to the team. He helps the midfield out loads with his movement, and I think his kinda movement compliments Pato very well, since while Pato likes to makes run in behind the defense, Robinho comes deep and offers to help out the midfield. It also seems that his stay in England has done wonders for his work rate, cause he was running around all game even though he wasn't 100%. Only thing is that I think he needs to be more clinical, he had good oportunity's yesterday, but ultimatly he didn't score and didn't create much, which is what he needs to do.

He & Ibra are still not at their best, but if they keep playing like this, the season is theirs.

P.S.

I just saw I wrote the same thing as Elmago.. sorry :)

We think alike

I completely agree with this midfield and then the integration of Merkel, Strasser, Fossatti...

For this year, that midfield can be rotated with Gattuso/Ambro/Seedorf/Pirlo. There are plenty of games...

Then, we can play with a 3 man attack using Robinho-Boateng-Jucilei as the link between defense and attack or we can go out and get a proper ACM like Ganso or Honda or DIEGO :gonova:

He never really got a proper chance in Italy and I don't think Juventus' problems were his fault. They had bad Strikers and a terrible defense...

End of season his contract is up.

If we could sell him in Jan and get Jucilei as we need lungs in mid more than creativity at moment. It could also give space to Merkel.

You're right... And to be fair with Adriano, he clearly is suffering from some type of problems. He's not at his normal...

I agree, I never understood why Robinho got such a reputation here in Europe. The same notices about parties at the wrong days you see in European papers about Ronaldinho, Ronaldo and Adriano, you can read here, too. But you never see the same notices about Robinho at his time at Santos, Brazil NT or even in vacations.

It all started in Spain, with a clear "work" of Marca and As to destroy his reputation and make it easy for Calderon to sell him. I still remember of Casillas at the press standing at Robinho side. Real class act, unlike that Raul... On the other hand, Robinho always did wrong when he chose to leave a club so, he also contributed to his bad reputation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a side not, 16:00hs, another HUGE game here in Brazil, Internacional vs Corinthians. Title implications and great chance to see Jucilei and Giuliano playing. I hope I'm not jinxing both here and they show their real game...

Great, Tony!

I know games at the middle of week in Brazil are hard to catch because of the hour. But today will be in a good time. Let's hope with Paulinho and possible Ralf coming back, Jucilei get more freedom.

Giuliano will have a hard time because Corinthians mid is good and strong to defend...

Jucelei playing simple effective play, except passing to Carlos means 9/10 times the ball will be lost on a random long pass that fails.

Corinthians lost.

Jucilei gave the asist for 1-1 draw. Def. one of the better Corinthians player, love his presence and attitude. And he is always everywhere on the pitch, midfielder, defender,-.....I can't say how often he helped out the left fullback side with Roberto Carlos.

Guilano had a pretty quit game I thought.

Bruno Cesar, 21, is my fav. player from Corinthians. Today Good work after the ball, freekick shot at the bar, missing a sitter at the bar, scoring a penalty (showed his courage after there was so much controvery about his complaints, that he does not like his new position)
Came in May 2010 as a new player, and has like 10 goals, 7 asists in 19 games (as a midfielder!)

2 Italian players I would love to have for the new Milan are:

- Lorenzo Di Silvestri (21 yrs old), he is such a solid player defensively and much better than Abate going forward. We could have had him for free 2 years ago, shame Fiorentina beat us to him. Bright future ahead of him.

- Andrea Lazzari (26 yrs old), complete dynamic midfielder than can play in any of the 4 midfield positions we have (including trequartista). He can be an addition to the squad. He is young, inexpensive, incredibly talented, works like crazy. He scores freekicks too. Take a look at Cagliari's second goal vs Juventus today and look at his vision for the pass to Matri.

on Serie A:

Cavani is doing very well for Napoli...I never expected him to be this good and thought he was over rated. I'm happy for Napoli they finally found the ideal player for them upfront. All they need is one more player like Gargano, they could have gotten Jucilei but he wanted a big club.

Krasic with a hat-trick...great for him... but still glad we passed our chance on him. He's Non-EU and he's 15million, simply not worth it. Juventus still have alot of problems coming this season because of their incompetent coach and management.

Other players in Serie A to keep an eye on this season and could be useful to us:
- Ljajic (fiorentina)
- Marilungo (Sampdoria)
- Destro (Genoa)
- Zarate (Lazio)
- Andrea Masiello (Bari)
- Barretto (Bari)
- Eder (Brescia)
- Asamoah (Udinese)
- Santacroce (Napoli)
- Giovinco, Dzemaili (Parma)

Good analysis. I too was surprised how good Cavani is doing.

Lazzari could replace Gattuso/Ambro type..

Giovinco: is he good enough to be a future ACM for Milan?

Krasic good but not what we needed...

If we sell R80, we'll need to buy another forward as Inzaghi is getting old and 3 forward with one that's always hurt won't cut it...

We'll also need a RB/LB and a CM

Possible Positions we'll need to fill next Mercato or Summer Mercato:

RB/LB (1 or 2)
CM (1) or ACM (1)
Forward (1)

3-4 players...within the next year

My Choices:

Not sure about Wing Back
Jucilei
Poli OR Lazzari

We made a mistake spending so much on Robinho. With everybody fit he'll probably be a sub and the money could have been spent on VdV and a good attacking fullback. However that hasn't happened so we'll have to see what kind of money is available in January. I'd imagine there won't be a lot of money and Allegri will need to up challenging at the top or he'll be the scapegoat. Ideally we still need at least one midfielder and and good full back to be anywhere near the top. Having said that a lot of Europe's top teams may struggle this year. Madrid are Madrid, Barca have an amazing team but a very small squad this year, Man U are far from convincing, Arsenal don't have a defence. Only Chelsea are looking like they've improved from last year.

Agreed. We're talking about how Milan need a CM a LB and possibly another Striker IF Ronaldinho is sold, but we're not all that bad at the moment. I agree we do need those replacements within the next 2 Mercato's, and then I can confidently say we will be one of the best squads on paper in the World.

However, Chelsea are probably the strongest with Essien and Drogba being the two scariest players in their squad. However I don't think Terry is that good and the only reason they don't give up goals is because they're holding onto the ball 80 minutes a match.

Real Madrid need 2 years to gel although never underestimate the Mourinho factor. Barcelona are great but like it was said are a small squad. I think Rafa Benitez has and WILL screw up Inter as this guy is an idiot. Same for Juventus. Manchester United are going to be going through a transformation in coming few years as guys like Giggs, Scholes, Neville, Van der Sar, We Brown, Michael Owen are getting old.

Arsenal are not good enough in the back and Liverpool are a mid table team now.

Best squads on paper in Europe right now:
1. Barcelona
2. Chelsea
3. Milan
4. Bayern
5. Real Madrid
6. Inter merda
7. Arsenal/Manchester United
8. Tottenham/Man City

Few things:

First, Does anyone know what the story was with Storari? We never really discussed it. Storari did an excellent job last year when he played. I believe he was then injured, and never really played again. Then he was sold to Juventus. Why? Is he better than Amelia and Abbiati? I think maybe.. he is older than Amelia though. What was the story there...

Secondly, I want to compare Milan to Manchester United.

here is Man U's currently lineup:

------------Rooney---Berbatov--------------
--Nani----Fletcher--Scholes----Giggs---
---Evra----Vidic---Ferdinand/Evans--O'Shea--
---------------Van der Sar---------------------

Their Scholes is our Pirlo
Their Giggs is our Seedorf
Macheda is Paloschi
Van der sar is Abbiati

* I like our attack better, but they have future problems coming up replacing older players including their goalkeeper, and large part of the midfield. Yes Valencia is going to be their winger but Scholes/Giggs/Carrick/Owen/Neville/Ferdinand will need to be replaced.

It's interesting how they will handle their transformation as we must do the same...How will their youngster's progress as oppose to our youngsters (Adiyiah, Paloschi, Verdi, Fossati, Merkel, Strasser, Oduamadi)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, while this is a Milan site I want to point out the Mercato problems with Juventus. I respect them as a competitor, and an enemy of an enemy is a friend (Inter's the enemy).... I want to know what the HELL their management was thinking with this lineup. They played well yesterday but still conceded 2 goals. Their lineup should have looked something like this:

------------------Dzeko--------------------
-------Giovinco--Diego--Krasic------------
-----------Marchisio--Melo-----------------
Coentrao--Chiellini-Bonucci--Di Silvestri--
--------------Buffon/Storari----------------

*Aquilani first CM to come off Bench
* Pepe wasn't an Awful signing as he works very hard and can even play at RB/LB
* Marco Motta is not that good
* Quagliarella for Diego??? Awful trade-off
* They should have done what it takes to buy Dzeko
* They should have kept Diego as he was NOT the problem last year
* Giovinco could have been very useful

Im glad Galliani wanted to buy Shaarawi, as that showes Milan has intention to buy class young players ( italian ). Maybe we'll try for him again.

Buying Robinho WAS NOT a mistake as he'll eventually play behind PAto and Ibra.

According to Spanish press Bale will end up in Madrid for 20mln euro... that is a steal, aldough people will now say 20mln is so much etc. What would you pay for 21 year old Maicon + left footed?

The thing with ManU is that, they have much better depth in youth and players in their prime than Milan. Valencia should be starting if it not for him being injured. Welback will be a very good third striker if not second striker for any teams. Carrick and Anderson are very talented player that just need a stretch of good games to have confidence. Then there Park. Gibson could very well turns out to be another Fletcher in a few years. They also have that Mexico kid up front. As for their defense, they got the Twins who I rate them pretty high, as well as Evans and Smallling as CBs. But the most important thing is thtat all those young guns that I mentioned for ManU actually played in The EPL or FA cup while those in Milan never even get half a game in Serie A beside Polashi.

Amen to that. The truth of the matter is, in any professional sports, a true superstar cannot be replaced by anything. You can have 30 good players, but they still cannot do what one superstar does. Ferguson's too big headed and Man U is probably too broke to make the big signings, so they are hoping one of the dozens of talented young'ums would turn out to be the new C Ronaldo.

Juventus Keeping Tabs On Corinthians Midfielder Jucilei Da Silva - Report
Corinthians midfielder Jucilei Da Silva has reportedly attracted the interest of Juventus.

According to a report in Corriere dello Sport, Italian powerhouse Juventus are closely monitoring the situation of young midfielder Jucilei da Silva, currently under contract with Brazilian outfit Corinthians.

La Vecchia Signora are in the market for a new midfielder dur to the ongoing uncertainty about the futures of Claudio Marchisio and Mohamed Sissoko, and technical director Giuseppe Marotta supposedly sees Jucilei as the perfect replacement.

The 22-year-old midfielder joined his current club from Malucelli (nowadays known as Corinthians Paranaense) in 2009 and has since developed into a key player at the Coringao. Additionally, Jucilei made his debut for Brazil's senior side earlier this year.

Jucilei's rise to prominence hasn't gone unnoticed in Europe and the highly rated midfielder is continually being linked with a move away from Corinthians. The Brazil star has also been linked with clubs such as Benfica and Valencia.

No need to sell Pirlo ... If a player has to go, it has to be Ambro or Gattuso in our midfield: they are older, and we have younger versions of them.

Pirlo, by not being a starter, could be the kind of perfect joker for the team. The problem is that we have no sub for him nowadays (Seedorf only), so he has played the 90 minutes of all games ...

About Ronaldinho, that's another story, by selling him, we could buy a useful AM and totally change the way we play (Seedorf isn't a real AM, he doesn't dictate the tempo, he doesn't make a lot of assists, even if tonight, it was his assist that lead to the goal).

So in midfield/attacking midfield, we just need two players. One DM/CM, and one AM. Nothing more is needed right now. I would even say that the AM is maybe more needed than the DM/CM ...

About the real rumours: there have been some reports about Grosso possibly joining us this winter (trade with Oddo or Janku). I'm totally against this transfer, it's what we need, a LB, but Grosso isn't the LB we need.

About the real rumours: there have been some reports about Grosso possibly joining us this winter (trade with Oddo or Janku). I'm totally against this transfer, it's what we need, a LB, but Grosso isn't the LB we need.

Yes I don't know how that benefits us OR Juventus... Grosso is NOT what we need and I'm sure if he did come, he'd start.. so yes this is definitely not good...

As for what we need, I tend to disagree with you... I certainly would not mind an Attacking Mid...and priority number 1 for me is to sell Ronaldinho, but I think Pirlo's performances prove he cannot play all the time and he's not the same player as 2002-2006. Now, as you've said GEOTAV, the only other guy in that position we have is Seedorf. He too is slow, past his prime, and cannot play more than twice per week. You will have to find a solution for CM whether it be now or in a year or two. In fact the whole midfield seemed especially slow so far this year with the exception of Boateng.
Why not take a player like Jucilei... ?

Tell me a Midfield of this:
Boateng---Jucilei---Flamini

won't be way more dynamic, energetic, etc than tonight's lineup of:

-------Pirlo---------
Gattuso---Flamini
-------Seedorf------

Yes for tonight that's the best we could have fielded perhaps.. but I would much prefer my lineup above, with EITHER Pirlo OR Seedorf subbing for Jucilei, selling the one you feel is less valuable at this point. Then rotating Gattuso/Ambrosini/Merkel/Strasser with the probable starters of Boateng and Flamini.

Whether we get an Attacking mid or not depends on how we wish to utilize Robinho. My opinion is that this can work; with the 3 forwards having rather free roles..

-----------Ibrahimovic---Pato-----------
------------------Robinho------------------
----Flamini------Jucilei-----Boateng------

The other option is to go get Ganso/Honda/Van der Vaart/Pastore and play them in the Robinho slot and then rotate the 3 forwards....which I'd also be fine with.. assuming we have a solid MIDFIELD...that can run, and play quickly..

Either way I don't think playing Pirlo/Seedorf/Gattuso/Ambrosini consistently is a win-win situation for Milan.....You cannot deny GEO that the play is slower with Pirlo. I wouldn't mind if he's brought in as a sub but to play all the time, I find us to be too predictable..what do you think?

The RB/LB situation is altogether another long topic..

add a quick 2 sents before i go to bed, i heard the commentator say during the game today, milans keeping a close eye on suarez good, bad? dont follow this player much. but no matter how good he is id still much rather prefer jucilei to him. any day

I would say Suarez is a more mature Pato at this point. Milan actually had an eye on him for over the past two years. Some people doubted him but after the WC and this game, I don't think anyone could say he is not big team materials.

Pirlo doesn't slow down our game much at all. He often only takes 2-3 touches at most before distributing. He's not a quick/fast player, but he isn't slow on the ball.
