I think we are too harsh to our club on this. We brought up Calabria and Dollar from our youth. Why we couldn't cash in on Dollar, is another matter, but saying we have no patience for youth makes no sense. All we did last years is having patience with young players. We had to wait for Kessie, Chaka, now, Saele. We will probably work with Diaz next season also. The older guys are maybe more professional on trainings. We have no idea what happens during practice. Also, we will see what happens this season. I am pretty sure Tonali will have good amount of time on the pitch. As for Hauge, my feeling is, there are some deeper issues, but that's just a feeling.

The bold part is something I have a difficult time agreeing with. Krunic and Samu doing well in training is hard to believe, of course these are just two examples but overall I see a pattern that bothers me.
But I want to say I don't necessarily mean a young team overall, after all we were one of the youngest teams in the top 5 leagues last season. I mean how they are treated, developed, sold. It is more than just lack of minutes. Also how they are bought, Hauge is a very good example, we bought based on what exactly? but soon after coach saw something? That is not how mercato should work.

It is sad and dumb, but I guess that's just the Italian culture I guess.
100 percent accurate post .
My method would help all parties. Players like hauge and tonali should have started all coppa games , and should have always been subs when we had a safe lead and play about 15- 20 minutes .

Calabria and Donna actually are very good examples of the issues we have with youngsters themselves. Think about what happened to them over the years. Donna had to come in and be a starting caliber GK at 16! And then continued to develop into a world class keeper by age 21. How many goalkeepers in soccer history could do that? His experience was very much unique even in terms of the history of soccer nevertheless AC Milan. Calabria, he was great last season, but even this time last year, we were linked with Serge Aurier every week to take his spot. I was very happy both guys ended up become big time players for us, but it seems like you either have to be a freak of nature like Donna or just lucky the club ran out of funding to buy a veteran to replace you like Calabria, to be successful here as a youngster.
Hakan, Donnarumma and....

Not sure I agree 100%. As we can see with Italy's national team, they are rich in talent and in fact in this entire euro I'd argue they have one of the youngest & brightest squads.
It's a Milan thing, not an Italy thing.

Anyway....if Inter and these so called 2 PL teams are interested...fine. they can pay and buy him. If he doesn't sign and doesn't leave...he can rot in the stands for a year.
This!
(06-30-2021, 08:31 PM)nefremo Wrote: [ -> ]Goes in line with what Reza and slifersd said just above. Not that Ilicic can't be useful...but why give up a young highly regarded player like Pobega?
We need Ilicic. And if Pobega doesn't seem good enough then so be it. send him off on a deal similar to Pessina's. where we've got 50% or similar to Olzer where we have a buyback. But a straight swap is a huge mistake. While we need Ilicic, it would be a huge mistake to give them a talented youngster for an old player that has few years left.

But yes...I really don't know what has happened with Hauge and Pioli. Even immediately after games where he was decisive, he was left on the bench for weeks afterwards...and worst of all, the likes of Krunic (even out of position) were favored ahead of him.
I don't want us to sell Hauge. I believe he will come good for us. But we can't and should not play Krunic ahead of him. It makes zero sense.
Maybe not Dire but there is a clear issue IMO.
We've got Hauge and Tonali on the list for example. But I would add Kalulu to the list as he always looked good but Dalot got called up instead of him. I'd add Diaz as he was always second choice to Hakan no matter how bad Hakan was performing. and I'd add Leao to the list(likely unpopular opinion). I know he hasn't helped his situation but how do we get a talented youngster to come in and show glimpses of being a real talent and have him performing worse and worse as time goes by? All you need to do is look at the contenders for goal of the season and assist of the seasons and he's all over there. and looked very good early on, liking up with Zlatan really well, then somewhere along the lines he regressed massively and hasn't shown much of that since.

Now that would be an amazing pickup
Can you guys imagine what kind of wage Mbappe will demand if he joins a team for free? 40m per year? 50m? 80m sign on bonus? 100m? Florentino Perez, free advice for you, go for Haaland instead. lol

Let me guess. His agent is Riaola?
Looks like agents are taking control over football world
