The Italy vs Germany battle continues, Italy needs to score 5 more points better than Germany this year on average to keep the 4th spot.
Sampdoria vs Bremen is the CL playoff. I really hate Mimi Carlo and Samp as I never thought they were good enough, I hope they can win this one and get one over Germany this early in the season.
Pato's injuries are worrying me, he is already inconsistent enough.... He's even worse than Inzaghi in terms of injuries.

Realistic Lineup
Abbiati
Lichstenier---------------T.Silva--------------------- Nesta--------------------Antonini
Flamini---------------Pirlo----------------Poli
Ronaldinho/Seedorf
Pato----------------------------------Huntelaar
If we can get Otamendi or Lichsteiner they're both probably about the same price but I would go with Lichsteiner because of our relationship with Lazio and he has Serie A experience. Than we could swap some of our champions and some money for Poli in the midfield. A bonus would be to selll Ronaldinho than sign Van Der Vaart or Robinhho on loan to play behind the two strikers.

If Sampdoria beat Wolfsburg we will have all 4 of our teams in the CL, they will only have 2. The only team that would make it out of the group is probably Bayern Munich, so I'm pretty sure next season we will still have 4 places. But I also think it will be A Juve-Liverpool Europa league final......unless theyre on the same side of the bracket for the draw.

Unless Pazzini and Cassano are in the form of their life, I don't see Sampdoria having the qualities to beat Werder ...
So it's more likely there will be 3 teams for both countries, with Bayern and Werder able to make it to the 1/8 finals (I don't know which other team is qualified), and for Italy, Inter and Milan (I hope) able to make it too to the 1/8 finals. Roma is for me a big question, they won't be in the first seed, they could have a very difficult group.

Lazio lost De Silvestri last year and Kolarov this year, they will not sell their top full back cheaply.

I think it's just a slightly twisted ankle. It's probably not that serious and if he doesn't play I think it'll be mainly precaution.

Yes, you are right it's not that serious but, i really hope i am wrong, for a boy his age he had a lot of these minor injuries. I am not questioning him of course, he is top-class, but he seems a bit fragile.

Must say I worry about his "fragility" too. Let's hope he doesn't turn into another Robben or Kaka of recent years.
He still has a bit more time to grow so hs injuries aren't a problem imo. They'll be few and far between in about a year.

Has anyone considered the reason that we are playing against Panathinaikos is to talk to the club about Sotiris Ninis?
Dev, i've been thinking about Fabregas and Xavi against Holland and I was wondering if it that interchangeability between roles (regista and trequartista) can work with our Pirlo and Seedorf. They can both perform both the roles, so what if they sort of cycle irregularly during a game to pull the opponents DMs out of position and create space for each other? Ambro and Flamini would anchor the midfield and give them room to dance. Thoughts?

Thats a good idea but do the two of them half the skill and pace to do this for the whole game? What exactly is a regista? Do we play with one under Allegri's system?

Regista in Italian means a director, like a director of a movie.
In football a regista plays further behind than a trequartista. Pirlo is a regista, for example.
Bori and Antonini have been called up to Italy's first game under Prandelli, and so have Amauri and Balotelli. Surprisingly, no Gilardino!

I think Italy are going to do very well under Prandelli. He is completely umbiassed. I would have loved to see Santon, Thiago Motta, and Andrea Candreva though

If this 2002-2005, I say yes, but they still lacks pace. But in 2010, there is no way these two should even be on the pitch together let alone expect them to play like Xavi and Cesc. The only two players in Milan that is capable of that are Pato and T. silva. Come to think of that, that might work.

KP played for Germany U-15, U-17, U-19, U-21, nearly all levels of German youth national team. But those rumors are likely to be rubbish; why buy Bocchetti when we had about six CBs and had just bought two of them.

Bocchetti can play LB, and Antonini is better at RB.

or defence would be great, with good versatile back ups like zambro, bonera, and papa, and then two power cb oneywu and yepes. i couldnt complain. plus we would be set for years to come as bocceti, antonini papa and silva are all still very young.
if we keep ronaldinho we should definately sign dos santos. he was learning from ronnie while they were @ barca, and i think his progress was slowed, but he can become great. i think for 7 mil it is a good and almost safe investment.
however i still want merkel to play alot, as i think this is a good generation of german players.

About Antonini, he is 28 (I'll check, don't remember if he's 27 or 28), so we'll need a replacement for him in few years, I mean, 3-4 years.
Bocchetti is supposed to be one of the good Italian defenders for the future.
So I agree, with all these players, we would be set for some years and could concentrate on our midfield and only our midfield for the next mercatos.
yep, he's 28. and i agree with you on the midfield part; My suggestion would be to bench Pirlo, move Seedorf to regista, swap Flamini for Giovanni and gradually ease in some of the primavera players. A very inexpensive idea!

I don't like what you want to do with our midfield !! :D
If I understand, you bench Pirlo (who still has something to give) and replaces him by Seedorf (the guy who is bashed here even when he doesn't play ?), you bench Flamini, buy and start Gos Santos, and include young players ?
I'd say, let Flamini in, with Pirlo too, use Seedorf as vice-Pirlo, let's buy a good midfielder, a proven one if possible, or either a young box to box player (meaning we bench Ambro) or an attacking midfielder (meaning we bench Ronaldinho if he fails), and include some young players for rotation, allowing us to compete for a whole Serie A season.

Off topic a little bit, I know few days ago Milannews.it was questioning if Dzeko is a Milan fan, well here again he confirms it, also that Sheva is his idol.

Brasiliero: You said many times that Ilsinho wasn't good enough for Milan, if I'm correct, you said the same thing with Rafinha and some other players. My question is, for you, are these players not worth to play in a big club like Milan, or are these players not good enough to be a starter in our team (by knowing that our best RBs are Sokratis, Abate, Zambrotta and then Oddo) ? What I'd like to know is if these guys you rate "not good enough for Milan" are better or just at the same level (or even worse) than our current RBs ? Because if they are better, so even if they shouldn't start in a big club like Milan, they would be more useful that what we have ... I don't know if you understand what I mean, what I ask.
To make it simple, Ilsinho isn't good enough for Milan in your opinion, but if he comes, will he be a starter in our current Milan ?
Geo, just to avoid a bigger misunderstood, I rate Rafinha higher than Ilsinho. Ilsinho is very skilled, fast, tall, but a horrible RB... Plus, with low IQ(game wise). Imo he's a taller version of Cicinho... and I will be disappointed if he turns into our starter.
I always thought Brazilian press over hyped him at São Paulo(the guy even got called for Brazil NT), and his play in Brazil NT gave me reason. Back to your question, Ilsinho is more skilled than any of the four names you wrote, but as a RB I would chose Abate over him any day(Sokratis is early to tell). The others 2 are "former players in activity" so, any chair would do a better job on the right side of the field.
Look... as Brazilian, I love skilled(offensive) fullbacks, and I'm even in favor of to put a DM to cover(and help) the FB, but the player needs to at least do a minimum(def. wise)... and be a REAL FORCE in offense!! And Imo Ilsinho doesn't cut in both categories....
Btw, when I was against Rafinha purchase, my only reason was the fact we would spend a non-EU with him. With our squad problems, imo it would be a big mistake to burn it in a fullback not named Alves/Maicon(type of player). And at that time, we were linked with better(in potential also) players(MD's, CB's...).

Correct me, but Inter played against Panathinaikos in Detroit too, right?
After following Hernanes for years, now we're officially able to see him playing. . . for Lazio. They agreed to pay (allegedly) €10 millions. Apparently, we're more interested in squandering those little 7 millions we had for three you-know-who youngsters from Merda.

I think Pirlo and Seedorf 5 years ago probably would have been able to do it quite well, but I have to agree with Gabriel that they aren't best used together in today's lineup, as they both lack pace now and physically are weakening (With Pirlo it's less noticeable as he's smart in how he runs).
It also depends on the opponents. For the majority that we play they won't man mark in central midfield, so the system probably wouldn't have the desired effect.
Thats a good idea but do the two of them half the skill and pace to do this for the whole game? What exactly is a regista? Do we play with one under Allegri's system?
A regista is a director of a game from deep midfield. A bit like a trequartista (playmaker) in a deep area, a regista will start moves for teams as well as control the direction of play for the team.
The regista so far in Allegri's system has been Seedorf.

Bocchetti actually makes a lot of sense. He's been used frequently as a LB and is a very solid defender and can push forward at fullback (moreso than Sokratis). Also, after watching yesterday's match I fear Nesta may be headed the way of Cannavaro of the last 4 years, as he was frequently burned for pace by Cisse and rarely seemed comfortable, so having options with both Sokratis and Bocchetti is useful.
Kevin Prince Boateng would be the best add since ages. He does not cost much, but brings in so much quality. :devs:

As much as I like Hernanes, I just don't think he's just what we need at the moment. He distributes play for Sao Paolo, just like Pirlo does, or how Seedorf can do, I don't think that's what we need.
The one I really think we missed out on is Ramires. There's a player who's exactly what we need, full of energy and intelligent at the same time.

Three players I would be satisfied with are Boateng, Dos Santos and Bocchetti. They would give us much needed alternatives at fullback and midfield positions.
And offloading Jankulovski and Kaladze in the process would be just wonderful.
May I ask, what is going on with Onyewu? I didn't see him featuring in friendlies so far...

Some interesting news today that has got me excited....
- KPB + Bocchetti to Milan for Jankulovski (Not even Moratti of the old days would accept this deal, I dont know how Milan have done it (maybe we are the ones paying for Genoa's transfers, I'll explain later what I think)
- Kaladze finally thinks of leaving
Berlusconi seems to be willing to invest however he does not want to invest for Milan at a time like this because the Italians will question what is he doing.... so I think Milan have found a club like Genoa for them to buy their transfers (including Rafinha, Veloso probably) and then we could get them in the future. You could see that as there does not seem to be any cash involved for the Sokratis deal, only gave them 3 players on co-ownership. It does seem like there is some sort of alliance and things going under the table, especially if we get KPB and Bocchetti.
Both teams win, Milan get the signings they wanted (even they they have to wait for it) without having to spend anything officially for the world to see, and Genoa gets a great squad temporarily.

Well, you can read here and there that we paid 4.5M for Sokratis (so the money we received from Juventus for Storari) + the co-ownerships.
My point of view is that Genoa made some kind of effort to build a good squad this year thanks to the sales of their young players (Ranocchia, Bonucci, Sokratis). They almost look like a big team when their president says Boateng will be a Genoa player and that he will send him on loan to some big club.
It seems they don't want to co-own him, they just want to send him on loan (they already have many midfielders, so buying Boateng is not really needed for them), probably to have a better image, why ? They send a player on loan to Milan, the great Milan, they will buy a player that Milan wanted to buy, and they give him for one year, which of the clubs is the smallest in this move ?
The deal about Bocchetti ? They must accept, in Genoa, as there is some kind of new friendship between both clubs, so if Milan asks them a player on loan (with an option to buy), as long as we give them another player (we want to give Jankulovski, they want Abate), they must accept. That looks like a good deal for Milan on this one, but at the end, we will buy Bocchetti, they will send back the player and they will be able to buy another good player.
Genoa is the winner of all these moves, as they got young players from both Inter and Milan in 2 years, with some of them who should explode and as a consequence, they will be able to sell them for big money (Destro, why not Zigoni).
I really don't think Berlusconi is behind all these moves in Genoa (Veloso, Rafinha, etc).

Geo, no we are not sure of the 4.5m + co-ownership yet... it's all rumors.. on Milans OFFICIAL website and Genoa's it mentions that we have got Sokratis and given them 3 co-ownership deals...mentions nothing about the money... so we don't know for sure yet.

After the match with Panathinakos, I think we can make quite a prediction about the line-up for next season.
Except ACM, it seems Allegri's has solution for other positions.
GK: There is a real competition between 2 good GKs: Abbiati & Amelia, which is a good thing. Roma for 3rd choice is OK.
CBs: It is strange, but I do not worry about this position. Nesta & Silva now have better subtitutes in Sokratis. Yepes has good positioning and heading, Allegri's only played Bonera in CB, means the former Parma player could be setted here, not for RB, Onyewu is back. So, Yepes, Bonera & Onyewu will fight for 4th in the picking order. Albertazzi is still 19, he should play for Primavera another year. Regardless of how much Allegri wants to test the youngster, CB is a demanding position, and we have many options already, if there will be no injury crisis.
RB: We have many players capable for this position, but still need a true starter. Zambrotta is the best option after last match, he is more comfortable on the right than left, but his stamina is in doubt. Oddo is quite confident and Allegri wants to give him some chances. Abate hasn't been test much but against small teams, he could be useful somehow, but I think Allegri will have him play RCM. Though none is reallly make us feel relieved, if Flamini or Gattuso (to some extent) plays RCM, they can cover.
LB: Only one name - Antonini. No real subtitute, but the starter is reliable.
RCM: Flamini, Gattuso, Abate
LCM: Ambrosini, Merkel
CM: Pirlo, Seedorf, Strasser
We can't say Merkel is a box-to-box player yet, but he sure has the stamia and the ability to press and tackle, in addtion to good overall skill. This guy is discipline & confident, enough to be in first team, but ACM is still too hard for him, IMO, but he can provide more in a simple passing & dynamic CM.
ACM: real headache when no one is the true starter, only candidates, both inside and outside Milan. Possible: Dinho, Merkel
SC: Pato is a worldclass allrounder forward, Borriello is a worldclass postplay forward and Huntelaar is a worldclass poacher. Pippo was another worldclass poacher, so the speed & dribbling skill of Verdi & Odu will help.

For all the members besides ACMILAN1983 who have been following Kevin Prince Boateng, can anyone give us more details about him now that we are strongly being linked with him?
I was really hoping for someone like Jucilei but I guess the lowering of 2 non-eu spots to one has made us look elsewhere. I tend to think KVB is quite overrated and not that good, but I haven't seen enough to judge.
Which reminds me, our non-eu spot is still vacant. We aren't linked with ANY names that are Non-EU anymore. Robinho, Ibra, KVB, Eder etc none of them would take the spot. I cannot believe that we will just "not use it", so does this mean we already know who it will be and have it settled? Could the long-awaited union of Dzeko and Milan finally be somewhat realistic?

They officially voted this new rule ?? :wow:
Couldn't they have voted that this summer to set it for the next mercatos ? Let's imagine a club would have bought 2 non-EU players before the rule was voted, would the other clubs have been allowed to take 2 non-EU players too despite the rule during this summer ?
About Dzeko, there are some reports that there was a meeting yesterday between Wolfsburg and ... Juventus. :cpuke:

I still vividly remember the crunching and meaningless tackle by KPB on Ballack in the cup final that ruled him out of the world cup. I loved that.

And the catch is?
Genoa overtake Milan and qualifies for CL and then we're Genoa's feeder club. :delol:

Boateng isnt a creater a scorer or a holding player , he is athletic and fast no great technique im not judging him on the WC im judging him on the games i saw for portsmouth dortmund and spurs he will add nothing.A sh1t personality aswell huge ego for and average player.

Saw a lot of Portsmouth games and never became impressed. Jay resumes it right: not a creator, scorer or holder. Impressive athletically, saw him play hard against the big ones of EPL, but all that "hard-work" was useless, because there was no "substance". It's incredible(sad) how low is becoming our standards...
I can accept a average player in our situation, but the guy better be Italian and cheap. Don't know much about him as a person, but if Jay is right, a average player with a ego is the last thing Milan needs...

Agent confirms Bocchetti-Milan talks
Saturday 7 August, 2010
Salvatore Bocchetti’s agent has confirmed “the prospect of an exchange between Milan and Genoa is true.”
Rumours had emerged that the Italian international, who was part of the 2010 World Cup squad and never played, is at the centre of an intriguing deal.
Genoa would hand him over to Milan in exchange for cash plus Marek Jankulovski, but the Czech appears to be holding up the move.
“The prospect of an exchange between Milan and Genoa is true,” agent Flavio Marrucco told Sky Sport Italia.
“The two clubs are working to find the right alternative and Bocchetti can certainly be interesting for Milan.
“I think it all depends on Jankulovski’s decision. We can only sit and wait for the clubs to make a decision.
“Salvatore is calm and experiencing this moment. I think that we’re unlikely to see a massive development over the weekend, but you can never say never.”
The 23-year-old has been at Genoa since 2008 after spells at Ascoli, Lanciano and Frosinone.
If Milan do sign the centre-back, it may well suggest that Real Madrid could have a chance at prising away Thiago Silva.

Firstly, i'd rather to have Honda for there, yet Kevin Prince Boateng is one of the options, i'd rather to get him instead of nothing. As long as he is fast, strong and skilled player, he will add something to us in attack,as he is a fighter typee of player, especially in low tempo Serie A, he will add something to us.
Secondly, i always wanted Bocchetti to Milan, a defender that i rate high, i hope we sign him and stay here for more years. We need this kind of players, young, quality and solid. if he comes, we will not need Onyewu +Kaladze + Bonera or Yepes.
5 CB, Silva, Nesta , Papa, Bocchetti, Bonera/Yepes is more than enough for one season, also considering we also have Albertazzi.
Then, lets talk about Hernanes, what a miss. just for 10 m euros, Lazio got a WC Midfielder. i think MGT will regret their decision not to move for Hernanes too much in the coming future.
About Merkel, his pressing and tackling is important, especially he does it in further area,
front press is important in modern football, he adds dynamism as well. yet whenever he got the ball, he should show that he is like future world class player. he is doing well yet he has to do more in attack.
Verdi's dribbling skills and pace is important in attack, he is moveable and his work rate is improving. i hope Allegri uses him as a vice Pato instead of playing Borriello-inzaghi/Huntelaar tandem, when Pato is missing.

Honestly Boatengs passing is awful his shooting is bad , he's the kind of guy that throws his jersey at the coach when he is taken off even when he has a bad game. Now he may change his attitude but not in 13 weeks rather Boateng than nothing I'll honestly take a big plate of nothing with a side order of nothing. We need a player to play the Pirlo role of a few years ago , we need a right or a left back and maybe a 20 goal a season player thats imediate needs but boateng fills no category and will be money down the toilet in salary honestly.
Janku is holding up the move for Bochetti and also if Bochetti does arrive another CB , does it mean the end of T.Silva.

Why Bochetti? Isn't he a centerback? Don't we have like 20 already? Because I've seen him play as LB before he is not good. I hope this doesn't mean we want to sell Silva.
Genoa are getting Insua(20 yr old fullback) for 5 mil, and we are paying them Janku + 5 mil to get Bochetti... how lovely.

it could mean the end of Bonera too.
We need a player like Seedorf in scudetto year for instance more if you ask me.
Bochetti is another Bonera who could play LB and 5cm shorter (If Bonera didn't get so much injuries, he could be one of the best italian CBs)
In this deal, we could get rid of Janku, so why not, it is OK if they ask Abate.
Antonini is an attack-minded LB, this guy is better defensive wise, or he could let Anto play RB, like many other fans want.

As moronic as our management is, we won't sell Silva.
I think Bocchetti is coming because we have designs to get rid of Janku and Kaladze. Also, Nesta is perennially crocked and now well into the twilight of his career, so we need a capable deputy for him.
I think this would be a fantastic transfer. It's quite clear: once Milan declare someone is not for sale, they don't sell him that transfer window. Notice, with the Kaka' saga: we didn't sell him until Galliani started evading the question. After the Fiorentina game, when asked about Kaka' he said "please leave me in peace; I don't want to get stressed out." A few days later, he was professing his love for Perez, and Ricky was out.
Silva, Pato, and Ronaldinho are all staying--for now.
Aficio: I don't agree with your esteem for Bonera. He is a decent player, but he was never top class. His temperament and positioning are hugely suspect.
Galliani is very good at talking with players, especially when he want one to stay, while he is clueless in showing the door to a player.
Uncle Fenster is too soft.
In 2006, we must give Vogel some money to exchange with Ricardo Oliveira. Maybe the same happens with Janku this time.

I used "one of the best italian CB"
In Parma, Bonera & Ferrari were the top CBs pair in 2002-2004, only inferior to Nesta & Maldini (Cannavaro & Thuram were formed in 2004). At that time, he was already one of the best italian CBs. But after that, Ferrari went to Inter and Parma didn't play well, Bonera suffered from some injuries, lost form and was sold very quick to Milan.
He was OK at RB and very solid at CB until the late of 2008-2009 season, when he suffered a serious injuriy, and joined Nesta & Kaladze in hospital, Maldini & Favalli were our CBs pair (and very reliable). But in early 2008-2009, Bonera was our best CB.
If a player spent almost 2 years on treatment table, you couldn't expect much from him, give him time to regain fitness and another chance.

Good point but even Gilardino was stellar at Parma and flopped at Milan. My point is Bonera never really lived up to his promise and his relatively few appearances for the national team proves that. True, it is tough going when you have Cannavaro, Nesta, and Chiellini to contend with, but at times he has not even been in the Azzurri reckoning.
The times he has played for Milan he has often been volatile and edgy--undesirable qualities for a defender.

Hasan, sometimes a player doesn't get called up to the national team not because they aren't good enough. Ronnie and Pato with Dunga? I rest my case. Lippi and Donadoni never rated Bonera, and had their own favorites.
Like Aficio mentioned, he was second only to Nesta and Maldini back in 2002-2004, no call ups then meant that there were always better players, but that doesn't mean he wasn't good. I'd take Maldini, Nesta, Canna and Zambro in their prime over any other italian defender anyday (Baresi excluded :P)
I too, recall him having a decent few seasons with us. He starts each season well enough. The only problem is that he tends to get injured quite often, and doesn't seem to recover well enough for the rest of the season.
That said, I really hope to watch more of Onyewu in action. I've probably seen him play just one official game. I really would like to see what he can do.
As for Midfield, I personally think we need at least two more signings. the ACM position needs a decent/more-than-decent backup, and we need a DCM that can play the Pirlo game, in case anything happens over the season.
I still believe we will use our Non-EU spot. its just a matter of time.

I think he is more incosistent than lacking required technique or mental, but it is hard to remain consistent with consistent injuries :D
When he was at Parma in 2004-2006, the mother company - Parmalat was on the brink of bankrupt, they sold many top player: Adriano, Gilardino, Buffon, Ferrari,... then from one of Serie A G7 to relegated team. His form was heavily affected then. At the same time, Barzagli was the brightest prospect, Materazzi & Panucci was at his best, enough to outed him.
He was not a starter in Milan, because there were Maldini, Nesta, Kaladze, so it was hard for him to be chosen.
In Euro 2004, he was young, so he played in U21 Championship instead, when his partner - Ferrari went to Portugal.
In World Cup 2006, he was on the list, but because Zambrotta's injury was OK, he headed home.
He is an unlucky guy. He is a good CB, but no outstanding point, like height, strength, speed or character, so easy to be overlooked is understandable.
News: Official: Milan have signed Pitton on loan
AC MILAN have signed Mattia Pitton.
Still no further additions in the first team, but the Primavera team have signed another player, Pitton, on loan from Liventina Gorghense.
The 17-year-old midfielder has good shot and excellent technique and he will play next season with the AC Milan Primavera.
The player could take the place of Rodney Strasser, as the 20-year-old has been promoted to the first team. He might be also an alternative for Alexander Merkel who will probably play in the first team occasionally.
The youth system of Milan is working well and Milan have already added few new players to the Primavera, including Pitton, and former Inter midfielder Marco Ezio Fossati.

Bonera was never a world class defender and never will be a world class defender, he is good defender nothing more, nothing less. i hope he goes to Genoa...
At that time, Nesta-Maldini/Stam was the best CB pair, then Samuel-Chivu-Panucci/Zebina comes, then Juve signed Cannavaro, Cannavaro-Thuram pair was great too. İnter had Cordoba and Materazzi, good pair. Then Parma defence, i mostly remember a defender who was quite solid, who played with Ferrari many times, whom i didnt remember his name, Castelazzi or something. Bonera at WB's and sometimes at CB, never impressed me at that time, except his marking game. i rated that defender higher than Bonera. especially, Bonera's positioning is a mess.

Bonera some years ago was a very good young defender to be a potentially worldclass defender but, mostly becouse of injury, he never became what was expected of him.

Bonera some years ago was a very good young defender to be a potentially worldclass defender but, mostly becouse of injury, he never became what was expected of him.
You're right, and his level even probably decreased during these years of injuries ... at least, Bonera has an excuse, him !! :D
----
About Bocchetti, I don't see why that would mean that we sell Thiago Silva ...
That maybe means that Allegri just doesn't trust Onyewu, Kaladze and Jankulovski and that they really want to have a young defense ? Isn't it a possibility ? Without seeing evil everywhere ? For once, they reinforce with young and promising players the defense, and suddenly, everyone is afraid we could sell the best defender ? What can the club do ? Because if they don't do anything, people are upset ...
With Bocchetti, we would have:
LB - Antonini, Bocchetti, Zambrotta
RB - Sokratis, Zambrotta, Oddo (:1avs:)
CB - Nesta, T.Silva, Sokratis, Bocchetti, Yepes, Bonera
The players who shouldn't be counted as 1 but 1/2 because of their possible and probable injuries.
The other players would probably be useless.
IMO, it would be a very solid defense, able to play in all competitions for a whole season. Potentially, it would be a very defensive minded defense (because of the FB, except Antonini), but if that means we don't concede, I'm in this bandwagon because I'm tired to see Milan concede goals because of semi chances from our opponents, mistakes, ... and a great team always has a great/solid defense.

I dont like the fact that our FBs are defensive-minded..I think the FB roles in recent years have become as important as an attacking midfielder.
Geo is right that Bochetti could simply mean Allegri doesnt trust Onyewu/Bonera/KK to be 5th choice. I would much rather we go for Insua (if he has a EU passport) than Bochetti.
Allegri: "Bochetti? We are very well covered in the defense department. KVP? We will know more in a week".
Rumors that Genoa will buy him and loan to us with option to buy HALF his contract next year are increasing. I would really love to know whats the reason of all this, when I suggested my opinion, they said I love making conspiracies...but isn't it a bit obvious now?
Amelia -> Milan free loan
Sokratis -> 50% of Oduamadi, Strasser, Zigoni
And now they want to buy a player (who has an EU passport) to loan him to us? I don't think Milan has become that low. I think Berlusconi doesn't want to be seen spending money in such dire economic times.

Genoa take Boateng for Milan? Sunday 8 August, 2010
www.football-italia.net
It’s reported that Genoa will complete the signing of Kevin Prince Boateng in order to loan him to Milan, cutting Lazio out of the equation.
“Boateng? We won’t name names, but we’ll see how things progress over the week,” commented Coach Massimiliano Allegri this morning.
The Portsmouth man is at the centre of a transfer triangle in Serie A, as he is wanted by three top sides.
According to the latest suggestions from the Italian media, Genoa have the upper hand when it comes to sealing a deal and could make it official by tomorrow.
However, the club has already signed so many players this summer that Boateng would be used as part-exchange in a different transfer.
Boateng would go to Milan on loan with the right to buy half his contract at the end of the season.
Salvatore Bocchetti’s agent has also confirmed that the defender is in negotiations for an exchange with the Rossoneri.
If Marek Jankulovski turns down the chance to join Genoa, then Milan are set to offer youngster Ignazio Abate instead.
“Bocchetti is a great player, but we are already covered in defence,” insisted Allegri.
DO NOT EXCHANGE ABATE HE'S ONE OF OUR FEW MIDFIELDERS WHO ACTUALLY RUNS AND CROSSES !

You're surely right (well, it depends on the system used by the team), but I think there never were as few great FB as nowadays. I mean, on RB, there are Maicon, Sergio Ramos (does a lot of fouls), D.Alves (sometimes forgets how to cross), and that's it, on LB, I still hardly find great players, there are a lot of good ones, but no great LB.
I think the next trend in football will be to use more midfielders, and less FB (in Italy, you could see several teams who used a 3 man defense last season). With the 4-3-3 (or 4-5-1) hype nowadays, we could well see more and more teams playing 3-4-3/3-6-1 sooner or later.
About Insua, I don't know him enough to give my opinion so I'll trust you ... ;)

Honda's been forced to play DM because there is Alan Dzagoev playing ACM, so he couldn't get chances to attack and is not so happy.
But this guy Alan Dzagoev is really something. Very young, only 20 years old (1990 born), and is playing his third season for CSKA, his stat looks great:
Russian League: 59 matches, 21 goals, 19 assists
Champion & Europa League: 18 matches, 6 goals, 4 assits
He is hard working type who never pleases with himself and often encouragee his teammate to perform.
Real were interested in him in 2008 but he played it down, said he wants to stay CSKA, and if he goes, he wants Chelsea.
Honda's versatility make me want him more while Alan Dzagoev is a promising player worth observing.
This is his goal against MU:

Though it is hard to get Honda if Dinho stays, but there is chance if Milan really want to.

Sorry, brasileiro. But Kevin-Prince was not only Pourtsmouth best player last seasson, but he also had one of the most impressive WC perfomances. I don't know if you missed the WC due to Brazils bad ending, but he was a beast on the field for Ghana.
He attacked, he DID created chances, he defended - to make it short: Boateng was all over the place and was only stopped due to a bad penalty shoot.
The best thing Our MGT could do is selling Huntelaar and signing Honda with that money.
-----Flamini----Pirlo/Seedorf-----Merkel----
------------------Honda-------------------
Alan Dzagoev is a creative player who is fast and good dribbler as well. He has a good shoot, long shoots are very good too.
On the other hand, i hope we sign Honda, he is what we need in midfield now.
Our midfield with Merkel and Honda, will be ideal, balanced. Honda and Merkel can defend well.
Merkel is improving game after game, thats a good thing for our midfield, he earned Hamsik comp. as well. he adds dynamism, front press to us, which is important in modern game, his vision, touches, he thinks quick, plays quick, decides quick. i hope he improves and makes his contribution to this Milan side. Playing Merkel as box to box player is key for 4-3-1-2. Flamini, Honda and Merkel, with them, we can make tempo and nice passes.

Pretty much true although Huntelaar is not finished, if not here he will be scoring 20 goals + somewhere, yes may be in a 'weaker' league but still.

:D You are maybe tired of hearing this, but now is our transition year. Last year was not a transitional point, last year was a mess that was rescued by Leo.
Proofs are quite simple: We focus on youngsters, are more stern with the "stars", and working in harmony.
- We spent about 5M on signing young players, let Galli be the coach in stead of Baresi. They won the young cup, were competitive in young league and give us six promising players: Zigoni, Berreta, Oduamadi, Verdi, Strasser & Merkel. There of them are co-owned now but they are the less promising one when the rest: Merkel has box-to-box potential, Verdi is very skillful (is called Verdinho for his brazilian style) and Berreta could be a new Vieri, all are just about 18. Adiyah is maybe a mistake, no info about Hottor's form, but nothing is perfect. More important: we're continuing to do it.
- Not only focus on developing youngster in Primavera, our coach let them play and give his best for the first team.
- The new signing: Sokratis could be a very good CB when Yepes is enough for the 4th, Amelia has showed safe hand, maked the competitive with Abbiati very interesting, which is benefit Milan. We can rest assured with GK and CBs now. ACM and RB are still to be worry, but there is time to work for the strategy and regain player's form, fitness & confidence.
- The reduction of wage: Seedorf has about 30-40% less, Oddo & Zam earns less, same to Rino since last season. We have a clear 4M/year limit and continue with it. Dinho is a case to be solve. However, let see.
- The management cooperation very well. From Berlusconi to Allegri, there is an understanding. Tassotti & Galli remain though none is head coach. The players have respect for Allegri and train hard. Harmony is the key to victory.
- We have better coach in term of experience. Allegri knows how to balance the team and assess players' abilities, and his way of playing with a lot of movement really suits morden football and what Milan need.
- Saving is not a thing to be ashamed. Genoa is a team to learn, why not be friend with them. Pride is one of the seven deadly sins, it can hurt you :D We're saving the right way, no one can exactly predict the future, but there are more hope now.
Be optimist, guys :5schal:
Dinho & Hunter are not finished, there are still many teams want them.
We are not really competitive, but the asmosphere is very good, with a nice talking of Galliani & Allegri, Dinho might stay and play good ACM.
Allegri likes 2 forwards formation with one target man/ poacher and one fast, skillful second striker. Hunter could benefit a lot alongside Pato or Verdi.
For ACM, I think loaning Helb from Barcelona is a very good idea, they want loan him out, we need player and he is our new star - Merkel's idol. This player can also play at right wing, so our strategy could be more diverse.

Boateng scored twice last season had 3 assists and p1ssed and moaned and fouled his way through the season. He is not a quality player and will add nothing to Milan.
Also there is a whole lot of players you were good in the WC and never ever ever ever did anything after it ever. And Boateng was not that great at the WC really he wasn't like one of the top players around today , he cannot pass is actually very confused and weak in possesion , makes bad choices and panicks alot when marked tightly .I saw alot of Portsmouth in the EPL last season and a few Dortmund games he is not and will never be a great player.
Hey man, i am an optimist by nature in all things Milan but you are going over the top :diablo:
I also think it's a good thing we give chances to our new players. It's a risk worth taken. It actually might save Italian football in general if all Serie A teams are willing to learn something from the Spanish. On the other hand, Milan is the kind of team that is obliged to be contenders for Scudetto (btw i somehow love this word) and it's European history dictates that they should always aim for the higher position in CL.
It's just that i am not convinced that these certain young players we have in our team can drive Milan on top position in Italy for the next years. If Allegri will succeed on that, i will accept he is a coaching genius.

Fair enough, it's your opinion and I respect...
But there's no need to write this type of jab(joke?) or whatever you mean with this "Brazil bad ending make me missing" thing to me just because I have a different opinion. Here isn't the red&black forum.
I was in vacation and I watched 90% of WC games, because I love football. Brazil's NT fate has nothing to do with my opinion of a player. Btw, Kleberson was amazing(and instrumental) for Brazil title(not just a few games) in 2002, and thats doesn't make him Milan level or a great player.
I watched all(but one) games of Ghana, but more important, I'm watching A LOT of EPL since 3 years ago so, I'm not talking about a player that I saw 4 times. Plus, the best player(questionable) of Pourtsmouth means nothing to me. That team would be relegated to Serie B in Brasileirão.
Imo, to be all over the place means nothing if there's no "substance". Look at the careers of Essien and Diarra after leaving OL. One is a beast and the other and is a beast/football player. I prefer the Beast/football player.
So, if you think Boateng is a great player, fine, it's your opinion. But don't expect that I share the same opinion;)
Boateng scored twice last season had 3 assists and p1ssed and moaned and fouled his way through the season. He is not a quality player and will add nothing to Milan.

I am not convinced, too. Believe some 18 years olds could bring Milan to the top is hilairous, but the fact is we have the top/WC players already. The problem is only them is not enough.
So loan players like Boateng & Helb, youngsters, and the good or very good ones like: 2 GKs, Antonini, Sokratis, Yepes, Zambrotta, Flamini, Ambrosini, Gattuso, Borriello, Huntelaar,... could help us even with the rising teams: Genoa, Palermo, Napoli,... and our top players: Pato, Dinho, Nesta, Silva, Pirlo, Seedorf (sometimes) will give us advantage against them and competitiveness against Inter, Juve & Roma.
The young ones and loan players will add depth, give top players the freshness they need to shine, IMO.
I don't care if some people call Milan a feeder team.
We are going on the right way. Scudetto or CL are too much, but 4th or above, 16 teams or further are do-able.

It's not just a vision its a reality , athletic strong player nothing more.I'd actually go as far to say that if the game was played without a ball he'd be perfect , but he is awkward on the ball will not split a defence will not change a game in an instant and make you go wow.And while thats not a what you always need he is not a player that will add much , some people bash Abate but K.P Boateng is the same a headless chicken some people call it.Ive seen only a few games of Jucilei but thats the kind of player we need in mid.
Anyone is watching Jucilei ? What an amazing effort so far. He is all over the pitch. Helped to score the first goal. :gonova:

I'm one of the pessimistic ones as I am growing increasingly more pissed at Berlusconi and Galliani....
I was the original person to state that Berlusconi was not buying mainly because we are entering 1932 of the Great Depression... Things are not good...
Europe is collapsing and America is next. Things will unfold over the course of the next year or two that will show that our economic and financial system is build on a rotten core due to Globalization, Central Banks fiat money system, and more..
Anyways despite all of this.... I really feel like Milan could still be a good team with less money... Merkel can prove to be an up and coming star...
Honda can be an ACM that brings great balance..Flamini can hold everything together and Pirlo can orchestrate from the back... I do feel that we need another striker in the future and that Dinho probably needs to go..
not because Dinho is not good but because he only fits in 4-3-3 systems...
anyways hopefully we can solve our Fullback situation, midfield situation, and gain a reliable top Striker haha
Hitmannq8, sorry, I saw several reports about Insua being really close to Genoa ... there would be some problem because of the salary, but it looks like the guy will come to Genoa in the next few days.
And it is also reported that Genoa would try to make a last effort on the mercato by taking Podolski.
Actually, I like what does Genoa this year: they bring some known/hyped names in Italy, and Serie A needs that (no matter which club does it), especially after the biggest stars of the championship left each season for some years (Sheva, Kaka', Ibra, well, they are the most known players who come to my mind, there are probably some others).
Fiorentina will probably have to make some purchases this summer: Jovetic is out for 8 months ...
We can maybe sell them Ronaldinho for 10M ? :D

Real's move for Maicon collapse. I think that seriously Inter should have taken the money for Maicon when they could, kind of like Barca did for Zambrotta. Maicon's defensive game isn't that great, he has got speed and can cover ground. It is eerily similar to Zambrotta. He was fast, he had a good shot and could deliver a lot of crosses.
When Zambrotta was Maicon's age he was just as good. When you have a fast fullback at about 27-29, within a few years he is bound to get slow, and if his defensive game isn't that good he will fall apart. The same happened to Zambrotta. He was fast and could move forward. A few years later, he's not fast he cannot make a tackle and doesn't provide the threat going forward that he used to.
If I was an Inter fan(Trust me I'm not) I would want Maicon to go to collect funds because in 2 years he will be slow and a horrible player than Real will have a contract with him thats long and a lot of money and they will have him warming the bench. I can picture it coming into a Jankulovski, Oddo situation. But Inter will keep him, pay 120,000 a week for him and have no where for him to go. I think that move was actually pretty stupid by the Inter management and kind of stupid by Mourinho as well to invest so much time and possibly so much money.
Personally I don't think Maicon has much of a defensive game, what do you guys think?

I think Maicon is the best RB in the world nowadays, and you managed to put his name in a sentence with Jankulovski and Oddo in !! :D
Seriously, Maicon is the best RB when going forward, it's simple, if you look at the results of Inter in the last 2 years, there are 2 teams: the winning (but we know they cheat ...) team with Maicon, and the "normal" team without Maicon.
Defensively, I disagree with you: the guy is also among the best RB in the world, I think he's quite solid.
It's the main difference between him and the other RBs: he can both defend and attack.
And so far, paying useless players has never disturbed Morrati, he has always done that actually, so Inter should keep this player as long as he has something to give. It's what I would want Milan to do if such a player was in our defense.
Anyway, I just wanted to reply you, but I can't make a complete post about a player from Inter, so I need to write something about Milan now !! :)
Does Madrid giving up Maicon mean that they will buy another RB ? Or will they annoy us for Thiago Silva during the whole summer because of that ?! Maicon going to Madrid would have allowed us to relax regarding Thiago Silva.

Boetang is another Sissoko-the one playing for Juve, nothing more.
As for Maicon, dude, he is the best RB since Cafu. Someone who is great in attack and defense.

I like that saying, it suits the best in conciously control one's life, you and your life, me and mine, but a fan and his/her favourite club is another story.
Milan sold Sheva & Kaka at the right time, IMO.
I also think we should have another president since Berlusconi can't concentrate 100%, but I can't name names. No real fan wants to invest in Milan, except for some pure investors like the Glazers.
It is hard to manage a team, but I think it is even harder to be a fan, emotion is never easy to deal with. Frankly, I'm now hoping for a Man City budget while talking to myself limited one is OK :D

I would not say selling Sheva and Kaka were right decisions at that time or even now.
Since Sheva was sold, B & G tried to replace him with RO, R99 and finally Pato. If Sheva were to stay, Milan would not have wasted money on RO and R99, that's roughly 30Mil including wages excluding Pato.
I still think Kaka is a great player, just look at the Confed. Cup and World Cup. I think his struggles at Real is down to the team play.
Thats just my IMO, I think if they both stayed, Milan would have been a much better team and waste less money.

I agreee because CURRENTLY he has pace and can defend because he can run up and down the side of the field for 90 minutes but in 2 years he won't be able to do that. I do believe I didn't give him enough credit on his game but what I was trying to get at is later in his career I believe he will half to choose to stay forward or stay in the defensive end. I think later in his career we may see Maicon playing as either a central defenseman or a winger He is such a versatile player but he will have to pick offense or defense he won't have the ability to do both.
Does anyone know anything about the young Turk that we are preparing a bid for? :3band:

You are right. However, at other viewpoint:
- Sheva wanted to go, he said many times that he wanted to learn English (what a reason). In fact, the management & fan tried their best to hold him back, but no result except his tear. So we had no choice but sell him and we sell at the best possible price.
- Kaka didn't say he wanted Real but we all know he liked this team, and his father used the rumour to force Milan to give him better contract. Of course he deserved, but something like 3 new contracts a year is still ridiculous. He is the reason for wage inflation in Milan. Money wise: Milan got much money and could begin to reduce the wage of old players. Achievement wise: I don't think we'd have better season with Kaka, he's been injured a lot after 2007 and last season with hernia & knee problems, how we would play with him? Couldn't be sure but high chance: not much special.
I'm still sad about their departures, but the decisions were not totally wrong.

But we also wouldn't have bought Pato ...
So nowadays, with an old Sheva and an injured Kaka', the situation would be maybe worse with fans asking to replace some of the "oldies" and wanting a vice-Kaka'.

And what if Maicon keeps his pace like Cafu ?
I don't think Maicon is unprofessional, it's even the contrary, so it's not a sure fact that he will lose all his pace, he could turn into a kind of new Cafu, being among the best RB until 35-36 (even by losing some pace, he can in the worst cases try to do like Zanetti) ...

The Boateng and Bocchetti sagas continue on, but there look to be doubts now. Boateng seems as though it will probably still end with Genoa buying and loaning to us. However, as already mentioned Allegri hasn't really said anything much about the deal.
The Bocchetti deal seems to be slipping away. Janku has apparently already rejected a move and now we must consider one of Abate and Bonera in the deal. I would rather lose Bonera in this respect than Abate as he's less needed at Milan now (and Bochetti would be a welcome upgrade over him now). The problem is Juve are now interested in Bocchetti and Genoa are reconsidering selling him, as they want a player who can play in a three man defence.
There's also a lot of debate over signing these two players. Bocchetti I'm happy to have as a fullback personally, as he's very solid and comfortable there and can push up (not to say he's attacking like Antonini). If we bring in a central midfielder who is expected to push up like Flamini, then we may not need extremely attacking fullbacks. I say this because a feature of Allegri's system I've noticed is the two midfield shuttlers on either side of the regista would push out wide onto the wings.
As for Boateng, I still believe he can offer something interesting, but only if he's disciplined and focused on his football.

We have no choice but keeping Abate ... because of the list of players for CL.
Some news about Dzeko/Wolfsburg: some officials of the club are in Italy right now. Reports suggest it could be for Dzeko, but also for Barzagli who interests several clubs of Serie A. Some days ago, there were reports about an offer of Juventus for Dzeko, let's hope it's not for that. My optimism lets me think that they're in Italy because Milan has decided to be serious and make a big offer for the player ... but my realism recalls me that it's unlikely to happen.

What exactly is the CL rule right now on homegrown players?
My understanding is at the very least a club must have 3 homegrown players and 3 association trained players (what are association trained players?) or 4 homegrown players.
Basically, without Abate, we have Oddo, Antonini and Borriello as homegrown players. Along with Odu, Verdi, Strasser and Merkel, of which at least one will probably be included in the list (as without them our squad could be too small) we should be able to cover UEFA's quota.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my understanding.
As for Dzeko, I hold little hope now tbh.

Homegrown are the players that at one time in their career have trained with one of our youth system.
association trained players are players who have went through the youth system of one or more clubs in Italy.
Inter and Real will have real problems in this regard.

Krasic has confirmed that has agreed terms with Juventus. This is bad news with just a bit of hope of getting a good one.
Krasic is a great prospect and can be the "Nedved" that Juve has missed this past season.
Now that Cska has sold Krasic its highly unlikely that they will decide to sell Honda.
The good news is that If Juve bought Krasic they have given up on Dzeko, so we still have a chance if Wolfsburg officials are in Italy as it has been reported.
I just watched the official rules of CL on the UEFA website to look at the table, and it is like on the table I did (picture - it's for the A list only).
About the rules for the A list:
A player trained in club is a player who was registered in the club for at least 3 seasons between 15 and 21.
A player trained in association is a player who was registered in a club in Italy for at least 3 seaons between 15 and 21.
A player can be trained in club, training in association, or nothing (other players), but contrarly to what is done in Football Manager for example, a player trained in club isn't counted at the same time as a player trained in association.
The list can contain 25 players or less. The list must contain 17 or more players.
About the rules for the B list:
The players who are less than 21 and have been registered for at least 2 years can be on this list.
About our team, is Oddo counted as a player trained in association or trained in club ? Do we really want to rely on Oddo to make our list ? Have the young players you mentionned already been registered in Milan for 3 years ?
If I'm not wrong, this year, we'll be able to put Pato on the B list.
To conclude, to be allowed to register 25 players in the A list, we need:
- 8 players trained in club
- 7 club + 1 association
- 6 club + 2 association
- 5 club + 3 association
- 4 club + 4 association

Reports suggest that Boateng in Genoa, it's done: 5.7M + Vanden Borre.
Milan, Lazio and Napoli would like to have him on loan, and we're the favourites in this race.

But we also wouldn't have bought Pato ...
So nowadays, with an old Sheva and an injured Kaka', the situation would be maybe worse with fans asking to replace some of the "oldies" and wanting a vice-Kaka'.
The thing is that, maybe Milan would not have bought Pato but actually invested in Ganso. Guess we never know. If Sheva stayed, they might never sign Dinho. Or Sheva can mantain his form or Kaka wont get injured as much....a lot of if, no point discussing.

Thanks for the clarification. In terms of association trained players, we have no issues I guess.

Whilst I like Krasic and think he's a good player, I really don't like the comparisons to Nedved. Nedved at his peak was considered the best player in the world by many people and was able to play a number of roles at a very high level. Krasic is much more limited and relies on his pace much more than Nedved.

Thanks for clarifying. I'm sure Oddo will be considered trained in the club as he spent about 4 seasons registered in Milan between around 1995-1999 (not considering time before that).
I think Strasser should be eligable to count as he was signed by Milan back in 2008, whilst I'm not sure about the others.
Either way, this isn't really for us to worry about and it does seem we can just about cover ourselves if need be lol.

Don't ask me, like you, I don't understand ... Especially if he has a German passport (it could have been because they already bought Rafinha, but this explanation isn't valid).
Let's wait for his loan in one of the clubs, they will probably give an explanation then ...

Try as hard as you can you will not find a reasonable explanation for Genoa buying a player that will be loaned to us unless we nee to redefine our positioning in the World Club Elite.

The only reason I could think of is Genoa use Milan's name to lure the player.
Genoa is a small team, in a different league & no Europe competition, so it is hard to interest player with ambition like KVB (he had a good WC, at least).
1 year in Milan could give him CL experience and be more famous. If he performs well, a better club (than Genoa & Portsmouth, maybe Milan :D) will buy him, Genoa of course can't reject a sure profit if no Europe again or will receive a very good player to competitive in Europe.
And if he finds it hard at Milan's level, he can go back to a smaller club but with good organization, which suits him better.
So if this complicate deal completes, it will bring happiness to 4 sides.
Milan has the reputation, Genoa has the money, why not :v103:
Ambrosini would also qualify for home-grown position as he was signed at 18.

Barca have agreed a 15 million fee with Bremen for Ozil , listening to or rather reading the Barca fans comments about this is great and for such a small fee , damnit i'd be amazed if Milan had 15 million.
Schalke really intereted i Hunter my head says sell but my heart say's it will just be money in the bank again nothing spent. Its been such a crappy summer for us but it is what I expected , a problem we'd have now is even if we did offer 15 mil for Ozil chances are he wouldn't want to come to Milan. That will be a problem for us now actually signing players , no big player will want to come and if this season we slip outside the top 4 (it is possible) then we will find it hard to get back in there .
Our older players all 15 of them are a year or 2 away from calling it a day (by our standards any other top club they'd be gone 3 years ago) we wont have a squad so will have to spend , but my concern is they will buy players for 2 million and less or just keep signing guys 32-34.This would be a transitional year as some have said if the contracts of the grandpas's were not extended. So it isnt a transitional year as we will have the same team next year.
ATM 4 signing with maybe 40 - 50 million spent would set us up some bit but it will be left too far im afraid. And will get to the stage that to be competitive we will need 10 + players and about 150 million to do it.I really don't understand this mgt and if they cannot see the future they are stupid, and if they do and still do nothing it proves they just don't give a f**k.

It has been reported that Barca have agreed terms with Werder around 13-15 mil for Mesut Ozil(last year of contract)
Ozil would be the perfect signing for us. Honda and Hernanes would cost the same. but ozil is younger and IMO he is more talented and more suited to the trequartista role that Allegri prefers.

I just read Boateng may well reject the year long loan and stay at Genoa lol. Also read that we may well need to pay 2.5m for a year long loan with no rights to buy. If that's the case then I must question the deal, as we'd pay 1.5m for salary and 1m to Genoa for the loan. If he performs well though, then we'd have to pay a lot to get him permanantly, which doesn't seem too appealing to me.
Pretty much no news today beyond this story. The Bocchetti rumours seem to have died and we're not linked to anyone else.
About Boateng, it seems he will come on loan once he will have signed for Genoa. We'll pay a 1M fee and his wages (1.5M). They will give us an option to buy him.
I read that next year, with some of the contracts expiring and other stuff, we could "earn"/save 80M, with a part of this money being used to build a new squad (10M ? :D). So maybe some of you are right, Berlusconi just asked to Genoa to buy a player for us because we have no money right now, and we will buy the player next year with a higher fee ? It's the only way I see both teams being happy.
About the Primavera, the official list of players is:

PIROVANO Valerio
BERETTA Giacomo

GAETA Marco
GANZ Simone Andrea
MANCUSO Leonardo
PALIBRK Uros
In bold: Albertazzi, again in Primavera despite what Galliani said last year. I think it could be time to send him on loan in a Serie B team to allow him to gain some experience. Merkel, despite all reports and rumours about the fact he would be included in first team, he is still registered in Primavera.
Of course, they can play in first team, but the fact they are registered there probably means they will play a minor role in first team.
It has to be noticed that Strasser, Odu and Verdi are not registered in Primavera. Strasser and Odu already have a profile on our official website in the first team page. Verdi should be included soon too.
Anyway, I think one of them will be sent on loan somewhere, especially Odu (it's my opinion, no rumour, no report, nothing official nor unofficial, just my opinion).

Real Madrid now turn their attention's to T.Silva after they failed in Maicon bid.Milan said he is not for sale but Madrid plan on offering 25 million and Milan would look at cashing in and using the money to rejuvinate their ageing squad.
Where have we heard this before..lol , I honestly don't think he will leave this year but if he did there would be no rejuvinating just a continuation of bad mgt and money for books.
Rumours:
- the one Jay wrote just before that post (T.Silva-Madrid, 25M)
- Schalke interested by Huntelaar, they want a striker to play alongside Raul and able to score in CL
- Milan still doesn't know what to do for Ronaldinho, there are rumours that there are offers
If we want to build a good squad again, T.Silva must stay, Ronaldinho should be replaced sooner or later, and for Huntelaar, I have a mixed feeling (letting him go would give us money, but I think he could be very useful in our new system).
But if we are more interested by money, well, let's sell these 3 players: if we say that Thiago Silva is on the market, I'm pretty sure that Chelsea, Manchester City or Barcelona will try to beat Madrid to get him and the offers could be around 30-35M. Huntelaar could allow us to receive 15M (what we paid). And Ronaldinho could be sold for 10M.
That's between 55 and 60M + the wages.
With that, we'll be able to buy a new Inzaghi (Simone Inzaghi :D), a new Thiago Silva (Canavarro :)) and a new Ronaldinho (Mascara, same teeth :dontkn:), a team of champions ?!
Rumours:
- Milan still doesn't know what to do for Ronaldinho, there are rumours that there are offers
.... Ronaldinho should be replaced sooner or late!
I have this wild baseless thought that Robinho might be our big star signing this Summer. Didn't Man City want Ronaldinho?
How about a swap + 5-10 million?
That would be a dream deal. Robinho is very industrious and mobile. He would solve many of our problems up front.

For anyone who was interested by discussion me and Aficio had about universality and specialist footballers, I have found an article which covers in quite nice detail about the influence Sacchi had on me in this debate. It's written by Jonathan Wilson who also wrote the book I was suggesting a while back (Inverting the Pyramid to anyone interested) where I originally read about Sacchi's thoughts in this aspect of the modern game.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2009/apr/22/where-have-box-to-box-midfielders-gone
Personally, I think the sections about Sacchi in the article are a must read for a Milan fan, as it explains a fair amount of what made Sacchi's Milan so incredible.
I don't agree with the last reason about the liberalisation of the offside law (mainly referring to the active or inactive status of offside players) in respect to playing a high line. Whilst it's extremely difficult in modern times to apply a high defensive line that plays offside effectively, I do think it's still possible with correct preparation and discipline. The problem more than anything is the lack discipline amongst modern players, where many star players play for themselves rather than the team and therefore training methods like the ones Sacchi used in the late 80's are no longer "accepted". The other problem is while this ideology is incredible, it is extremely strenuous on players and coaches both physically and mentally. This explains why Sacchi's Milan, whilst the greatest club side ever suffered decline within a span of a few years before Capello replaced him and changed things.
Sorry to go off topic.

Boateng to Milan: There is a problem
Posted by Meytar Zeevi on Aug 10, 2010 | 2 Comments
THE MOVE faces a small delay.
Kevin-Prince Boateng seemed on his way to Milan (via a loan from Genoa) but according to Sky Sport 24, there is a problem, as Genoa’s Anthony Vanden Borre, who was included in the transfer to bring Boateng to Genoa has refused a move to Championship side Portsmouth F.C.
However, this problem is solvable. It is believed now that Genoa will sign the World Cup star and then loan him to Milan with no option of redemption at the end of the season.
The operation will cost Milan €2.5 million: €1 million will be paid on the loan and €1.5m on his wages.
il Corriere dello Sport claimed earlier that Boateng could be an official Milan played by tomorrow.
What a strange deal is this :5horse:

Brazil looked impressive. Fast, skillful, fun to watch. The young guns deserve praise for the way they enjoy themselves on the field and make football fun to watch. However, we can't take away from the fact that the USA was terrible. They gave Brazil way too much space to play.
Everyone had a great game for Brazil, and even Lucas (who has looked like a shadow of a player in England) was a beast in the middle. The player that impressed me the most though was Ganso. I know people are screaming for Neymar after that show of speed and skill by him, but for me Ganso is the brain of this team. What an intelligent player. Aware of his surroundings at all times. Never complicates things yet openes up the game with 1-2 touches on the ball. Great vision, great technique. Able to do the craziest things on the ball yet only does them whenver there is need for them. Reminds me of Zidane with the way he moves around the field, and with the way he plays.
David Luiz very very impressive . . . and very, very, expensive as well. Besides, as Allegri already pointed out, we're pretty much covered in defense.
Anyway we're linked to yet another youngster. An 18 y.o. Benfica midfielder named Danilo Pereira.

lol, I've made a few posts about how Ganso is probably the Brazilian I want to see most in Milan (even moreso than Jucilei or Mario Fernandes). His intelligence and vision really impresses me and quite honestly given our new system plays a midfielder ahead of the midfield trio (almost as a traditional playmaker), it's almost criminal we're not more seriously after him. I like Neymar too, but I see a lot more potential in Ganso tbh.
I'm a little surprised about Lucas. I know he's highly rated by many Brazilians but it's been difficult to understand why if I'm honest, especially with guys like Hernanes and Jucilei coming through (there's also another central midfielder who Brasileiro mentioned a long time ago who looked very impressive, but I can't remember his name).
Considering Milan's financial situation, I would be very happy if we add Dos Santos (6-8M) and Boateng (1M Loan) to our current roster.
We would get good alternatives to Ambrosini/Gattuso in midfield and Ronaldinho on AMC.
If we get those two players, we will be solid in every department (little less solid with our fullbacks IMO), but it would be competitive team.
Then if we even sell Hunter, we could glet Zlatan on loan with that money, or even better, someone younger for 15M.
I know is' fantasy football knowing the ambitions of our management, but it could be done if they want it. I think we'll spend much next year when many players should leave the club or renew their contract at smaller salary.
Of course it's not about us but

Diego said few days ago he doesn't want to leave. It seems Juventus tried to get Dzeko by including Diego in the deal, which refused Wolfsburg. But Wolfsburg must have become hungry thanks to this deal and probably wants Diego. What I don't understand is:
- why Juventus would sell the player ?
- why Juventus would accept to sell the player for such a "small" fee to Wolfsburg, a club refusing all offers for Dzeko ?
If I sum it up, Juventus are going to sell Diego to give more space to their young Del Piero ? And then we manage to be unhappy with our mercato ?! :D

And we are laughing at our own lack of creativity. I doubt it will be the case but if he is sold and they don't replace him with a big signing they are in bigger trouble than us.

lol, I've made a few posts about how Ganso is probably the Brazilian I want to see most in Milan (even moreso than Jucilei or Mario Fernandes). His intelligence and vision really impresses me and quite honestly given our new system plays a midfielder ahead of the midfield trio (almost as a traditional playmaker), it's almost criminal we're not more seriously after him. I like Neymar too, but I see a lot more potential in Ganso tbh.
Ganso really has improved his overall game. I remember Milano84 also was high on him, but at that time Ganso wasn't cut to European game. In just 6 months the guy added a level of work rate even a coach like Capello would love. Plus, he's starting to learn how to play with a player "on his neck"... six months ago he would be frustrated easily.
The talent was there, but like Alex(Fenerbach), Ganso would have need luck to find a coach in Europe to uses him properly.
Fair point about Lucas, but now you understand why we Brazilians rate him high. I watch Lucas since he was the captain of our youth NT, and the guy has talent. To be honest I still rate Jucilei high, and he would be my starter, but Lucas isn't bad as EPL people like to say.
First, his game(short-fast-pass) isn't suited to Liverpool style. Plus, pace is a factor for him. To be fair, he adapted to EPL pace better than I though, but thats not his game. Spain or Italy style suits him better.
But the more important thing is the arrogance of the coaches. It was clear Rafa Benitez liked Lucas, but I don't understand how a he buy a player to uses him in a wrong position. Like Fergusson buying the best AMD in a under-20 WC and turning him into a normal DM. Not every player can adapt to multiple roles, and I'm really concerned where this generation( Ganso, Neymar, etc...) will play in Europe :d33:
To make it straight, Rafa Benitez is already killing another Brazilian talent(Coutinho) playing him at the left. C'mon, the kid didn't have the body to play there. Just because he's talented?! Coutinho is a skinny #10, and to put him in just a sector of the pitch, will only make it easy for the defenders. He needs to be roaming the field using his pace...
Btw, rant aside(sorry), the player you asked is Arouca(also from Santos), the best #5 playing in Brazil nowadays. To make it clear for the ones that never saw him, think about a speedy Seedorf turned into a real holder. Thats Arouca... Amazing talent!
He will have his chance in the near future.
from having the problem of fitting Del Piero, Diego, & Giovinco all in 1 team, Juve is getting rid of the 2 young ones and keeping the oldie?
the only explanation i guess is that they want to play with 2 attacking wingers and after getting pepe, i guess Krasic (or Elia) will be arriving shortly to try to benefit from Amauri's strong aerial play...
otherwise, they're just plain stupid :hah2:

The difference between these players who've been used in another role and the new generation (Ganso, Neymar, etc) is that the new generation already has their chance in NT. So everyone can see what their position is, especially as the new NT coach of Brazil seems to use players in their best role (well, it's just one game, so let's wait some time), and doen't try to just add many stars in the team by using them in wrong positions ...
So European scouts have 2 chances to see these players and understand what is their real role/position in a team: with their club and with the NT. If they buy one of them and don't use him in his favourite position/role, then, it's no more arrogance, it's just stupidity ... :googly:
About Brazil, it's just crazy how after each competition, they manage to have a new team with new stars/potential stars. Do you imagine that guys like Ronaldinho, Kaka' (injured, but regarding his recent form, does he have his place in that team ?) or Diego are out of the team and they're not 30+ years old ?! They would be the leading stars for most of the NT in the world. :p1510:
All countries should take a look at the way Brazil organizes the formation of players, how they produce new talents, especially nowadays, because they manage to produce new talents for all positions. That just sounds impossible, but they do it.

Do you mean that Juventus will rely on a striker who doesn't score ? :D
With their players + the guys they bought during the mercato, they could have set 2 teams (4-3-1-2 and 4-2-3-1), but if the rumours are to be believed (Diego out after sending Giovinco in Parma), they will just be unable to change their formation. It's like having an advantage at the beggining and trying to have a handicap at the end of the mercato ...
Well done Bianconeri !!
PS: And they will have no more great player (except their new defence, they could be strong there) to make the difference.

Del Neri is one of few coaches who stick to the old 4-4-2.
So, he'll definitely use 4-4-2, with two side midfielders, one second striker and one "real" striker.
This is their most probable formation:
Buffon - Motta, Bonucci, Chiellini, De Ceglie - Marchisio, Sissoko (Melo) - Pepe, Candreva - Amauri, X.
For "X", I'm sure Del Neri will not stick with Del Piero for too long, I mean there's no logic in sticking with old players when they've bought all young players. Krasic has been linked with Juventus for a long time so if Diego rumors are true, Del Neri wants to let Diego go and to get Krasic for that position. That makes sense if we're talking about Diego from last season, but Diego from Werder days is just perfect for that position.
I totally want to see Ganso in our midfield.
Nuff said.

Juve cant compete with this first 11 for the scudetto, its impossible if you aske me.
Firstly, their wing backs are not world class wing backs, its not obvious their contribution, Bonucci didnt prove his worth at highest level, Chiellini's injury problems.
Then in midfield, There will be a problem in team defence, then central midfield, Juve needed a player who is effective offensivelty in further area, like Hernanes for instance. would be a steal move for them.
Then offensive game, Pepe is not a scoring winger, then other is not as well.
Amauri is not a striker who can score more than 20 goals each season.in this case, everything depents on that Mister X. an SS who can score +20 goals.

I agree. Del Neri is a 4-4-2 expert, Chievo with magnificient wingattack made him wellknow to world football. And the last successful Juve with Capello used this, too.
Diego's presence makes it looks like 4-2-3-1, but that means the player doesn't suit the formation well. Sell him and buy Dzeko is best option, but can they? Ibra & Trez were the pair to be jealous for 5 years ago. Amauri has neither the scoring ability of Trez nor passing & creativity of Ibra, I don't know how he'll play. I think they will use Martinez as second striker and Del Piero as super sub, but the Trez position still a remaining problem, not even Trez himself can solve now.
Juve have the clear idea, but they lack the right players.

Well, by looking at this team I agree they're not a Scudetto-winning material, but Sampdoria wasn't CL material either and Del Neri brought them there.
Mister X, will have to do as many assist as he can, because mainly that's his job. Something like Cassano at Sampdoria last season. Del Neri is focused on defense so 20 goals from Amauri (or else) would be enough for him.
Anyway, Juventus is building a team for the future. Looking at their defense, in 5 years I can see Italian NT defense in them. I would like Milan to do that, but we somehow want to stay competitive at all costs...

But I'm really worried with the future of Ganso and(mostly) Neymar. Anderson was the best under-20 at that time, starter at Porto as AMD, but Ferguson thought after the purchase he knows better in what position Anderson need to play...
So European scouts have 2 chances to see these players and understand what is their real role/position in a team: with their club and with the NT. But still there's a little arrogance when the subject is a SA player. Plus, can't understand how a coach can give the green light for a purchase without to see a players several times.

For some reason, and reading opinions around the world, Brazilian players aren't so valued like in the near past. Now the trend is on the Argies, Spanish and Germans... Btw, don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing any of them.
After 2002 WC we won, our players were over valued. We won because of a great coach, and 3 amazing players. But at that time, clubs payed tons of money for normal Brazilians players. Our talent at that time wasn't that good. But this generation is special, the last two under-17 and under- 20 generations produced serious talent, and now they will meet in Brazil senior NT for 2014. Let's hope Mano stay in this course...
All countries should take a look at the way Brazil organizes the formation of players, how they produce new talents, especially nowadays, because they manage to produce new talents for all positions. That just sounds impossible, but they do it.
Some years ago I had a long discussion with 3 guys(2 European and 1 Asian) in a football board about it. They for some reason, believed Brazilian players pop from the beach or streets:ilol: They think it wasn't possible for Brazilians clubs to have amazing academies, like in Holland just for a example.
Here, formation of players is a serious thing. The structure for kids in São Paulo, Internacional, Cruzeiro, Santos, Atletico Parananese and others clubs is AMAZING.
But just taking Italy as example, I think the problems also relies in the coaches hands... but this post is already too long and itś another discussion:)

Closest I can think of is probably Milan 94 which had 7 potential starters: Costacurta, Baresi, Maldini, Tassotti, Albertini, Donadoni and Masarro. We also had international outcasts Rossi, Simone and the missed potential of Lentini gracing our squad at that time. Parma had 5 players in that squad also.
Il Grande Torino from 1949 probably comes closes with 10 players, all who died in the Superga air disaster.

2007 CL final, we had:
Oddo, Nesta, Maldini, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Pirlo, & Inzaghi
Favalli & Gilardino came in as substitutes....
We can now have:

Along with Pitton who we signed on loan for the youth set up, we've recently signed Serginho, a young Brazilian attacker who is about 17/18 for the youth set up. Also, Danilo, previously of Benfica youth setup, but whose contract recently expired has been linked to us by his agent. I know some of these stories have been mentioned already, so sorry to repeat the news.
Brasileiro, yeah Arouca is definitely the one you mentioned before. I don't know much about him, but remember you mentioning him before.
I still find it surprising there's so little mention of Ganso in the press. We were linked to him a while back (it's why I got interested to find out about him), but since then the rumour has all but died. Lately there were rumours Man City were interested in swapping Robinho for him, but the story never took hold. What I don't understand is why so few teams seem too interested. When Internacional had Pato, Milan, Chelsea, Real and others were all desperately trying to sign him, and more recently with Neymar, I often see Spanish sides and Chelsea associated with him, yet little is ever mentioned of Ganso.
The other thing bugging me of late is comparisons of Kaka and Ganso. A lot of the press compare the two, saying they have similar playing styles, but key aspects of their play make them very different. Kaka relies on his pace and ability to drive his team forward when playing, whilst Ganso is much more about passing and opening up spaces.
I really do think we need to seriously consider Ganso. I say this because under Allegri, we look like we're going to play with a modern playmaker ahead of the midfield and Ganso fits the mould perfectly. I'm aware we have Verdi and Merkel also trying to break through, but I don't see Ganso as an obstacle for them, as Verdi would aim to play further up as part of the attack along with Pato. Merkel I'm certain is capable of playing deeper in midfield too due to his high work rate. His ability to move into wide areas also means he'll compliment Flamini. The way I see it, right now with Ganso we could look to have a lineup looking something like...
--------------Abbiati----------------
Zambro?---Nesta--Thiago----Antonini
-----Flamini----Pirlo-----Ambro------
--------------Ganso-----------------
---------Pato--------Borriello--------
With a view to moving towards something like this in the next few years...
------------------GK?--------------------
RB?------Papa?-------Thiago-----Antonini
------Merkel----Strasser?----Flamini------
-----------------Ganso-------------------
-----------Verdi----------Pato-----------
Initially, this might look a little lightweight, but let's not forget Pato, Verdi, Merkel, Ganso and Strasser are very young. In the next few years we will see them grow and much of that will be developing bigger and stronger muscles. Pato is already around 6ft and could be a very powerful striker in the future (like Sheva in the past). Merkel and Strasser too look like they could become very powerful players.

We are out of this possible race to sign him I think: now he is in NT and will probably be a regular starter of the Brazil NT, we have no chance to get him, his price is going to be too high for us, unfortunately. The problem is I don't see any European big club nowadays who could be a good place for this player to shine, I don't see any other place more perfect than us ...
Chelsea ? They don't use an AM, so he will be put as a second striker, on a side or in central midfield (Anderson, AM -> CM in Manchester).
Barcelona ? Same thing, well, he could manage to play there as a CM because Iniesta for example, an AM, can play as a CM thanks to the freedom given by the coach. The problem is that would Guardiola replace one of his stars (Iniesta-Xavi) by Ganso ? I don't think so.
Arsenal, Manchester United, City ? Same as Chelsea, and anyway, I don't see this player in Premier League, that would be a waste.
Lyon ? Puel would destroy him by trying to play him in midfield (same problem as the English teams). And by the way, Lyon isn't a big team !! :D
Real Madrid ? The player said his dream was to play in Madrid, but given the way Madrid will play (with Ronaldo, they will probably use wingers), I don't see how Ganso could shine there nowadays.
Bayern ? They use wingers ...
Milan ? Needs desperately a new AM, a classical one, to replace Ronaldinho sooner or later ...
And if Genoa was to offer the player to us ? :)
Dzeko confirmed that last year, he had an agreement with Wolsburg to leave if Milan was to make an offer for him this summer. He confirmed that Milan tried to get him this summer, and that Juventus was very interested too. He said the reason why everything was refused was given by Hoeness: the agreement was with Armin Veh and Frank Aehlig who aren't in Wolfsburg anymore, so the agreement, for Hoeness, isn't valid anymore.
When I learnt that Uli Hoeness was the technical director of Wolfsburg I knew that it wouldn't be easy for any team to try to buy Dzeko. This man is one of the most outspoken and controversial men in football ever since his Munchen days.

It's true that we probably can't afford him, but if Berlu is serious about a gift then I don't think he can do better than Ganso. Also if we're that serious about Ibra, I'd rather we concentrate on Ganso and getting him.

I think this time around you can blindly pick a player from the Brazil NT,and he will be huge success.
Bad time for being broke like us.
I miss the time when a player from Brazil was good, we were the ones to get the first option to buy him.

In a perfect world we wouldve bought us Jucilei and Ganso :)
Think about it if it was reality, it would be soooo sweet :D
Buying Ganso would mean selling Ronaldinho. I want to give him a chance this year, he earned that from us at least.

I think we need to think ahead and work towards building a competitive team for the future, which Dinho simply won't be a part of. Dinho's workrate, in a system which demands it will be a huge problem, as it could throw the balance of the whole team.
Also, whilst Dinho was hugely important last season for his quality, he did hamper the team a great deal with his choice not to track back, which was best exploited by United.
If we were to sell Huntelaar as heavily rumoured, I'd without a doubt try to use the money to finance a deal for Ganso. Neymar looks to have gone to Chelsea for around 25m euros, and I can't imagine Ganso commanding as much (as I said before, he's not hyped as much), so we should be able to get him for a fee of at most around 20m euros.

Any swap deal involving favalli and kaladze counts as a movement.
Don't be so harsh... the three new players you mentioned are improvement over three other players you mentioned (storari, favalli, kaladze).

I hope you all know buying Ronaldinho was to ease us from the fact Kaka had planned to be sold... they never had an intention of keeping both....
Can someone who extremely knowledgeable on Milan Management explain to me how is it that we're broke? After the sale of Shevchenko, Kaka, how in the world are we broke?
I was the one who started the idea that Berlusconi, being the pres of Italia, cannot look to be spending a lot in these harsh economic times, with possible worse things to come later this year, and therefore he is unwilling to spend, but how has it come to the fact that Schalke, Wolfesburg, Genoa, Inter, Juventus, even Roma.. ... that they can spend more money than us...and by a lot..?
Please someone explain the basic reason how we're broke, unwilling to spend, and are on the way down as a club, probably to out of contention of Champions League after this year due to this weak old squad...

Our wage bill is ridiculously high for a squad of 28 players , the rent on the san siro milan lab travel you add that up it probably comes to be more than the 240 million or so that we make per annum on average.
Madrid look set to beat Milan to Ganso....being real honest here if they bid 1000 euro they will beat us we have no money to spare nothing to buy with , we need to sell to buy but unless we sell Silva or Pato we won't get more than 12 million , and if they were sold we'd end up fairly light and empty handed by mgt.
I hope you all know buying Ronaldinho was to ease us from the fact Kaka had planned to be sold... they never had an intention of keeping both....

well very few clubs in the world are covering all of their costs, so one way or another their debts are increasing before the owner takes the money out of his pocket to balance the books.
berlusconi isn't willing to do that anymore, so we aren't spending any money either in order not to incur costs we can't cover. that's my understanding.:bri:

Turned out to be a pretty good swap though. Ronaldinho was better last year than Kaka had been the past couple of seasons and had a better year than Kaka had at Madrid. If only Milan would have invested the difference in their transfer fees in new players it would have been a stroke of genius. :w200:

When he left until now he had problems in our attack........and when Kaka leaved we started having problems in makin attack.............
what ever happen to hazard, he was hot at the beginning of the summer, and now no team is really talking about him anymore. maybe if milan is smart they can steal him away now while no one i negotiating for him.
I get the feeling that once we get KPB that Ambro will no longer be an automatic starter like last year. That's a good thing as competition brings out the best in him.
------------------Abbiati
-----------Nesta--------Thiago Silva
Zambro----------------------------Antonini
------------------Pirlo
-----Flamini--------------Boateng

It's a pretty strong starting 11 if you ask me, and the rest of the squad is as complete as it has been for a couple of years. 2 good players for every position. I'm very optimistic for the season. Yes, my ambition has been lowered significantly, but that's just the new reality we have to live with. I still think we will challenge for the title and we have a great chance of winning it.
Nothing will happen in the market unless we sell either Huntelaar or Ronaldinho. I'm surprised we got KPB without selling anyone, actually (Gattuso).

I disagree. I think our problem last year was lack of depth in CB and we overcompensated is summer. We still lack a Pirlo alternative but otherwise our midfield is solid. I think we have the best attack in Italy. No, I'm not exaggerating. Ronaldinho, Pato, Borri and Huntelaar are great attackers if used well. I honestly feel very optimistic.

I think Seedorf is seen as the Pirlo alternative, which actually suits him very well.
Anyways, I have a feeling Allegri will be a bit more 'Sacchian' (In reference to the article (http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2009/apr/22/where-have-box-to-box-midfielders-gone) ACMilan1983 posted) in the sense that he would try to avoid relying on specialists in the midfield. In the friendlies he did use Seedorf as a distributer, but for periods of the game both Strasser and Flamini was distributing the ball, which made me think that maybe he didn't want a particular player always having to be the one that distributes the ball.
Ofcourse our team is full of specialists. Ronaldinho, and Inzaghi are the best examples, but still it'll be interesting to see how Allegri decides to play Pirlo once he's ready to play. Perhaps we'll see him in a less dominant role.

I don't think the problem was lack of depth. I think the main problem last year was the lack of will to win and dominate from the players. To me that had been going on since 2007 CL win. They always struggle against teams who are fast and strong, but that was not the case before 07, simply b/c the players actually wanted to win.
You guys kept pointing to Nesta and T.Silva as the main reason why Milan lost points....but to me it was mainly down to the opposing teams strikers. Whenever Milan played against a team with an inform strikers or attk players, Milan will most certainly lose even with Nest and T. Silva as CBs. What pisses me off was that the talents are there, but they lack the will to compete. Lack of movement in midfield is a direct result of players giving up, as I refuse to believe that players are tired and can't play twice in a week. Thats a beautiful excuse for being LAZY. They are all professional athletes with the best training facilities and trainers in the world, I am sure if they want to get in shape, they have all the access to. Just like how Shaq still is crap at free throws, considering he has been playing the game at the highest level for 20 yrs. IF he works on it harder than anyone else, i am sure he would had improved over the years.
Ofcourse there were players who just can't play anymore like Kala, Oddo, to some extend Zambro and Janku, but how often did those four played last season.
Point is that, changes are needed, as I am sick of watching these Walking Dead playing for my beloved club-Milan. Can't wait for Kala, Oddo, Zambro, Janku, Seedorf, Pirlo, Dinho, and even Ambro to retire from football and Milan have fresh faces and new players.
As for Dzeko, maybe he did agreed on a contract with Wolfs last year that they would release him if Milan made an offer, but if that offer is 10Mil for someone like Dzeko, you really can't blame Wolfs for saying NO.

In this modern football era, specialist is a dying breed. When you look at all the great under 25 players or even under 20 players, they are all pretty much the complete package for their positions. Also we no longer see players who are slow but very skillful. I would not say the game is becoming kick and run but if you lacks pace and unwilling to provide off the ball movement, you must be extremely great at some thing in order to make it big.

Read the link. Even a former homeless player is value at 7.4M Pounds, I guess Milan will never have the money to sign any professional players anymore. Or instead of scouting in major tournaments, Milan will start sending scouts to homeless World Cup.
Jokes aside, that's a pretty interesting story. Although i have never heard about him nor seen him play at all, I can't help but cheer for him in the coming seasons.

I hope Belusconi think of him as another Pato.
In the last interview of Allegri, here what he said to the question "about the mercato, is Boateng useful ?":
"He is used for completing the roster of midfielders: with some players of 34yo, we can't think we'll do the whole season with only 3 players. Also, I'll do a good turnover and when I send 4 fresh players, they must be as good as the others. Boateng is a good midfielder (mezz'ala), he was born in 88, I like him."
I know I already said it once, but for all the people who said that Allegri would just be a puppet for Berlusconi and Galliani, well, I never read such a thing, such a realistic thing from Ancelotti and Leonardo ...
It's like with Ronaldinho, when Leonardo was pleased by his performances, Allegri, in the same interview said that 15 goals and 16 assists for him isn't enough, he wants to see more from this player.
He also talked about his weight: the last "update" is 83,7 kilograms, last year, he played the whole season at 87 kilograms, when he came back from Brazil this summer, he was at 86 kilograms, and when he won the Ballon d'Or (Golden Ball), he was at 81-82 kilograms. I think Allegri tried to say that Ronaldinho is working hard by saying that ? :D
I'll write the whole interview in the TIM Trophy topic as it was an interview for this competition, initially.
PS: His answer to the question "choose the best 3 young Italian players", he replied "Ranocchia in defence, Poli in midfield, Paloschi in attack". We were linked with Poli, and we own 50% of Paloschi, does that mean that we already know who will be our 2 targets next summer ?
