I would like it if Milan had another rival, that might force the management to open their eyes. They think this team can last forever ffs.

City offers Robinho to Milan for 20m pounds

holy sheeeeeeeeet...I'm sure you all already know how I feel about this rumor.. I think we can also get a lower price as they are desperate to get rid of his lucrative salary.

It will surely be difficult (not to say impossible) to find an "assist maker" like Ronaldinho was last season, but depending on the chosen formation by Allegri, the replacement could be as good.

About Huntelaar, a replacement can't be worse, I mean, Huntelaar didn't have a great season here, he was often on the bench, he didn't show a lot of things, so even a decent replacement could do as well (staying on the bench) ... :D

Although I am not a huge Hunter fan, I still think he is talented and is capable of scoring 20 goals in Serie A if play properly, not RW but a Striker. Also, he did scored game winning goals for MIlan the past season, and those were not tap in, it was great shots.

if there is any truth in this we have to go for this by all means...and if Berlu needs to step he should, 20 mil(maybe less) is a steel for a player of Robinho quality. And then we can scratch the Target man and have Pato CF & Robinho SS with Dinho behind them...with both Pato and Robinho on the field the lack of movement of Dinho won`t affect us a lot cuz both Robinho and Pato tend to move a lot. Dinho need only to give away passes nothing more :D.

About the Target Man, we have Borriello who has proved to be a great squad player who can fill in when needed.

Robinho is not needed in Milan unless Dinho is gone.

With all the talks about attackers and defensers, I really can't see why none of you are stressing the need for midfielders. I think Flamini only barely pass for a modern day midfielder in Milan, as he is someone who runs and can make a pass or two. The rest just don't cut it. When you look at the WC, you notice that the final 4 teams all have all-around midfielders. I am not saying they all have to be like Xavi or Cesc, but even Van Bommel can make a forward pass or dribble without losing the ball under pressure. Can we say the same about Gattuso or Ambro. Then Pirlo is talented but his lack of movement is hurting MIlan.

Papa (22) is a good defender (as good as Bonera), but he will never be a starter here in Milan. He will have a role similar to Kaladze's. Maybe for one season one of the defenders gets a serious injury, then he will step in. That being said, Milan are rumored to wanting to loan him and buy him for 7m. That price is very expensive for a squad player, especially considering our low budget. 7m can be used to buy a player like Jucilei who would in all likeliness walk into the starting lineup.

He is not clumsy like Kaladze and not slow and wreckless like Bonera.

He is fast, athletic, strong and confident on the ball. In this defence he will make himself a starter in quick time.

CB for Milan:

T. Silva, Nesta, Yepes, Bonera, Gouch, Kala and Papa.

Honestly, even if Bonera is set as a RB reserve(which is a stretch as there are Abate, Zambro and Oddo there already). There are still 5 including Kala and 6 including Papa. Is Milan Lab predicting Nesta, T. Silva and Gouch to be out for a whole season, b/c it just does not make sense to have so many CBs.

For F**K SAKE , im only saying what they say they say limited budget and 10 million in the red SO BY THE WAY THEY WORK THE 10 MILLION WILL BE PAID BEFORE ANY PLAYER IS SIGNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they said we had 50 million to spend I would report that , would you then disagree for the sake of it with that aswell???????????????????

Last night there was a replay of the 6-0 derby on Milan Channel...man kaladze used to be a great LB...seriously. i think the whole Brother kidnapping saga and making him CB affect really badly on him.

I think carlo did a bin mistake in making him a Cb and taking janku instead...

I don't disagree (I even agree that Huntelaar could still be useful), I was just referring to the "find a better replacement" part ... regarding the season he had in Milan, a lot of players could do better. Then of course, it can only be said when you look at statistics and when you don't take the context into consideration (played in the wrong position, etc).

Where is the article with the 10M in the red ??
I didn't read it yet (didn't find it on TMW).

GOOD CB for Milan (in my opinion):

T.Silva, Nesta, Yepes and Papa. That is not too much, especially when two of them are above 30 and both Nesta and Thiago have regular injuries throughout the season.

Gouch didnt actually get picked by Leo before he got injured, Bonera frustates me and Kala - we cant give him away.

He was a pretty good left back and the fact that Sheva used to head in all his crosses helped.

You are right, he hasn't been the same since the incident with his brother. He has gotten worse every year, and Carlo dropped him because he was a calamity. Janku was by far the better player when Carlo started using him.

I'm not quite sure why poeple think Papa cannot become a starter for defence. He is versatile, and with only cameo appearances from nesta (with his injury), and our full-backs still in their current state, Papa can easily find a place... Only 22, so if he has a solid season with us, 7 million may be worth investing.

But agree whole heartedly that midfield is the main problem..... Not going to happen though. All we can hope for is that RIno leaves and Lazarri comes in...

holy crap...bad news....Sky reports that the deal for Papa is done, but here is what Milan pay: 4.5m euro, and the co-ownership of Albertazzi, Oduamadi, and Strasser...three of our best youth players. This means in about a couple of years when they both impress, we will be paying about 5m EACH for those 3 players to buy them back.

If this is true....damn, I hate Galliani.

looks like the deal is almost official, sokratis spoke to a journalist saying that its a dream come true,he is travelling these hours to sign a 5 years contract and not 4 like it is written..

as i wrote be4,i've seen him playing live a couple of times for AEK and he totaly outclassed the oppsite fws, although he was 19-20 years old!
papastathopoulos is a really mature, for his age,player..he is strong, focused all 90 mins, decent headers but his gr8 advantage is his man to man marking, execellent.he was not starter for the national teaam on the wc,but when he did start, against argentina,he was clearly MOM imo,as he made messi look akwardly out of game..i am sure that alongside nesta he can do gr8 things..for me gasperini was wrong using him as rb or lb at times as he is clearly not that type of player..

i dont like the idea of giving 3 youngsters +4,5 mil,it would be better if we gave oddo+1 youngster..anyway time will tell..

They (Genoa) are not stupid to take Oddo or Kala, Janku maybe because this guy is good at attacking and can play along the left, plus DM.

They bought Papa for 4M, then sell for 4.5M. Not a bad one. 3 youngsters maybe a bit much but they can't play now, why not let them take the chance at another club.

A fair one, IMO.

If Papa is signed, it means 7 CBs, unless the MGT expects Nesta to miss half the season, there is no way any sound teams with an actual plan would sign 7 CBs under contract with which none of them are promoted from youth. That shows the MGT lacks directions, planning, scouting and most of all a brain.

Like I said earlier, don't the MGT ever learn from their mistakes, like buying crap from Real, giving out long and big contracts to over the hill players, having a low release clause on potential star players and giving out 50/50 ownership with another club.

Hitmannq8: It is hard to judge now. The co-ownershiped players rarely become gold. Only Adriano (Inter & Parma) and Eto (Real & Mallorca) are examples.

IMO, we didn't really need to buy Borri if Gila wasn't that bad and Genoa couldn't afford him. However, 10-12M for him is not expensive. He contributed almost nothing to Milan before so that could be count as good buy (we even got the money when sold 50% him to Genoa).

About Matri, I don't think we need him.

Paloschi & Astori still need to be observed more.

With our current financial status, co-ownership will bring us a little money, when things are better, buy them back (if needed) is not hard. Blind envelope is a fair method, IMO. Moreover, if we use Albertazzi, Oduamandi & Strasser, there are risk to take. They are too young and have no real playing experience.

If our aim is better club, better finance step by step, co-ownership is still a good choice.

We need young players, but not too young, too inexperience.

Just my point of view :D

i honestly do not mind co ownerships. give the yound chaps some expierence that we couldnot offer then, and if they do become something, we already own half, and chances are we will get them back, as players would prefer to play for milan than a smaller club.

i love the deal, as we got what seems to be a legit cb/fb for only 4.5 mil. i havent seen him play, but since our interest i have onl heard god things. and inter was interested as well. and though i hate inter, they seem to get good players.

The report i read said that Genoa loaned him to us for the season with the option to buy next summer. Nothing was mentioned about 4.5 million or co-ownership of any players.

According to some reports, Lassana Diarra could be leaving Madrid. He could be someone worth looking into as he's a very combative player, though naturally it depends on the price and how desperate Madrid are to sell him. They also have Mahamadou Diarra, another one who could leave on the cheap, although injuries and loss of form make him more of risk.

As for Robinho, i wouldn't be surprised if we managed to get him on loan.

15th of July 2010:
- Yepes (CD/LB), Amelia (GK) and Papast... Sokratis :D (CD/RB) come
- Dida (GK) and Favalli (CD/LB) left

Not bad for a start, and for once, they looked at what there is in Italy, in Serie A, resulting in more or less cheap deals !!

If we follow the "rule" given by Galliani for this mercato (one player leaves, one player comes), that means that one of our RBs will leave (Oddo ?).

Jim, both Diarra are not worth playing in Milan: Mahamadou Diarra doesn't have the form (like you said) nor the qualities to play here, and Lassana Diarra is a player who lost his place around December/January and is just another replica of Flamini (who is a replica of Gattuso) ...

Strongly disagree with GeoTav. Both Diarra's are absolute class, but Lass is much better and younger. I would buy him for 15m. Much better than Flamini as he offers alot in the offensive buildup as well as defensive phase. It would be nice to have both Diarra and Flam in the starting lineup as they both move around alot. Will be an enormous upgrade on Ambro + Gattuso days.

I still disagree.

In an economic sense if they are good they will more expensive than taking the chance now. And they better be at least something if we are even considering co-ownership at all.
In pure footballing sense you either own a player (and loan him if necessary) or you don't, forget about half this half that.

Well, from the first bold sentence, we will strongly disagree on these two players I think. For me, L.Diarra is a good player, nothing more. I can't deny that he is a monster in defensive phases, but at going forward and passing, he's really not better than Gattuso.

L.Diarra would be an interesting purchase if we sell both Gattuso and Ambro, no need to have 10 DMs in the team. And as Ambro deserves one more year in Milan (not necessarely as a 100% starter of course) ... won't happen !! :w143:

But I don't think we will manage to agree about these players actually ... :hmm2:

You completely missed my point, which had nothing to do with the MGT and whether they know what they are doing. Everybody knows they don't.

My point was and is:
Nesta and Thiago are the only reliable centrebacks we have (I do not rate Kaladze and Bonera, while we know little about Yepes) so two reliable centre back is NOT enough.

You also mentioned injuries - Nesta missed half of last season, and the whole of the season before that. It would be irresponsible to not bolster this position. Thiago tends to have lots of small injuries too. Last season we had 6 centrebacks and still had to play Ambrosini at the back because Thiago was the only one not injured.

In summary - 7 centrebacks is not too much when only 3 (possibly 4 if Yepes proves to be useful) of them are any good, and only two of them are on the right side of their peak.

To summarize this summer so far,

I want to say that it's been very un-interesting for many of us to talk about papastathopoulos, astori, oduamendi, otamendi, matri, jucilei, eder, and guys of the like.. these minor improvements will not change anything. We will not go from 3rd place to 1st place. we will not make Quarterfinals, Semis, or Finals of Champions League... nothing will change.

Bottom Line is Berlusconi must SELLLLLL this club.

If guys like (Ibra, Honda, Dzeko, Luis Fabiano, Van der Wiel, Coentrao, Sergio Ramos, Lassana, Santon, Balotelli, Acquafresca, Giovinco) Don't come this year or next, this team is going no where.

Either we invest in a strong youth squad (italian based players) to produce a world dominating team in 2-5 years, a dynasty, or we buy 3-5 players i listed above.

Anything less will be a continual 3rd-6th Serie A finish.....

This is what the bottom line is. Formation is less important. Allegri should decide his formation, and then go get players and start building accordly.

For Berlusconi and Galliani to continue lying saying they've spent too much money when they've spent NOTHING and gained HUNDRED OF MILLIONS OF EUROS from KAKA, and SHEVA.....there should be an article in every day in Gazzetta dello Sport about the lies of this idiot.....

End of story...

Totally disagree ...
Some of the players listed could be very good squad players, something Milan has lacked for at least 5-6 years. Even in our recent best years, we had only one first team, and nobody on the bench to make the difference if needed. It's still what happens nowadays, but we also have another problem, which is the decreasing level of our first team.

But it's two problems that have to be solved: one to win CL (the first team), and the other to be able to compete seriously in Serie A (squad players).

PS: Jucilei could and should be a starter in our team if he was to come in Milan ... He would be a big upgrade in midfield.

EDIT: If we can solve only one of these problems this summer, it would already be great. And seriously, who cares about bringing big stars in Milan ? We don't need divas, we need good players, stars or unkown, nobody (should) cares. Damn, while we all saw Milan win CL not so long ago, who remembers the taste of a Serie A title ? Personnally, I don't and I'd love to see our team win this championship again. It would be a first step to gain some credibility again towards the fans in Italy and everywhere else.

And seriously, who cares about bringing big stars in Milan ? We don't need divas, we need good players, stars or unkown, nobody (should) cares.

I wholeheartedly agree. Some of our best players of the past 10 years were relatively unknown when they were brought in. Pirlo was an Inter flop, there were serious doubts about whether Kaká was good enough to make it in the Serie A, Gattuso had spent most of his career at small clubs, etc. I won't reject any signing Milan makes until I have seen the player in action - such is my faith in our scouts.

Honestly, I think things could be looking a lot worse for us right now. We have two good goalkeepers, a SOLID central defense and some very good players up front. Huntelaar will probably leave, but even if he stays I won't be too disappointed. He is capable of far more than he was able to show last season.

Our main problem is our midfield. Seedorf and Gattuso are getting too old, and should not be part of our starting XI (the latter is probably leaving though, so... problem solved). Ambro was one of our best players last season, and Flamini has mainly suffered from his coaches at Milan not having faith in him. Reportedly Allegri wants to make him a central part of the team. Pirlo is inconsistent, but still capable of producing magic, and if Dinho performs like he did last season, we're not as dependent on his creativity as we were before anyway.

Now, the thing about Papastathopolous, who's almost certain to join us, is that he can play as a defensive midfielder too (so I understand). That means that in him we have a back-up for Ambro and Flamini, in addition to a good central defender. If Gattuso actually leaves, that will probably free up funds to sign an attacking midfielder like Honda. And IF that happens, we're not looking too bad for next season. Keep in mind that in early March this year we were only one point behind Inter, and so far it seems like we'll have a better squad next season.

I'm actually fairly optimistic about what Allegri's Milan can accomplish. We failed at competing for the title last season due to not having sufficient squad depth. Galliani is adressing that problem now, so why's everyone so upset? We don't need big names, we need a squad that's capable of winning the Serie A.

They are not very big names, but big enough to have some kind of high value ... Dzeko nowadays is a big name, Honda has progressively become a big name (exploding during the WC), Van der Wiel is already followed by many big clubs, ... you see, even if they're not the biggest names, they are already difficult to bring in Milan.

And if I said we don't need big names, it's because of what you said about the first players you listed. For example, because Jucilei is a less big name than Honda, Dzeko and co, it's not interesting to talk about him nor to have him in Milan ?

Those three names Elmago99 is talking about are players who can't be described as big names YET.

Dzeko and VDW have all the characteristics Milan need right now, and dont come across as divas.

And yes some of the best players we have had over the past 10 years have been good scouting i.e. Pirlo, Pato, Kaka, Thiago Silva, Gattuso, Dida just to name a few of the recent ones.

BUT some of the best players we have had we also BIG names who delivered i.e. Nesta, Inzaghi, Rui Costa, Shevchenko, Cafu.

Elmago99 is right, its all good and well taking on promising players who have escaped the hype, but they are more likely to succeed if they play alongside players who are being hyped like Dzeko. They are being hyped for a reason - because they are good and are applying themselves, something that Ronnie hasn't really done. Nobody here calls him a diva, when he is probably one of the biggest.

We need one signing like Dzeko anad a few shrewd signings. Amelia is one, Papa is two (I hope). A midefielder or two would be nice. Anything more is unrealistic.

Thats the key. Yes Milan should sign players like Jucilei, but no Milan shouldn;t focus only on players like Jucilei.

He may well come along and deliver, but he may well not. He is more likely to deliver, however, playing alongside players like Dzeko and Van der Weil.

So we need a balance, and if a lack of resources means less 'big names' than promising players then that is fine. But we need at least one player of the calibre of Dzeko. Don't forget we needed that last season, and got Hunterlaar. Two seasons without serious reinforcement will damage us badly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
a few years ago Di Gennaro was our so called 'greatest talent in years' , heturned out to be sh*t. I'm not too optimistic about our primavera players. we're no barcelona :)

That's like saying you are the tallest midget ever lived. Its nothing worth mentioning. Berlusconi is simply living in a fantasy land right now in which anything he wants comes true, but sooner or later the reality will strike him down hard. If he thinks the potential buyers aren't pouring out money to buy the club now, just wait for another couple of years.

But it's a sentence you can write for all kinds of players: from the worst ones to the best ones !! :D

The fact that there is some hype or not has nothing to do with the talent of a player and there are many examples ... By just taking the Italian NT, I can already give you the names of Pepe, Quagliarella and Iaquinta for example who were/have been/are hyped whereas they aren't the most talented players. There are the talented players who are hyped, and there are the players who have a good agent working for them.

Anyway, Dzeko would probably be very useful here, when you see the destructive duo he made with Grafite (who is just a decent player), the Pato-Dzeko duo could be something a lot more powerful. Anyway if Dzeko doesn't come to Milan, I think that our 4 strikers (so guessing that Pato and Huntelaar will be used in their real position) are already good enough ...

So like it was said in a previous post (devoted_dm), our midfield is the part of the team needing reinforcements, because if Sokratis comes, with T.Silva, Nesta, Sokratis and Yepes, we should be ok (I think we need one more player, maybe one of our Primavera defenders) in the centre of our defence.

Last night there was a replay of the 6-0 derby on Milan Channel...man kaladze used to be a great LB...seriously. i think the whole Brother kidnapping saga and making him CB affect really badly on him.

I think carlo did a bin mistake in making him a Cb and taking janku instead...

If I remember correctly, he was midfielder in that game. 6:0 under Cesare Maldini? Then, he was definitely in center of midfield with Giunti, with Gattuso and Serginho on the sides. Maldini was LB in that match, if I remember correctly. Btw Serginho put one of the best performances I've ever seen in Milan's shirt.

But I agree with you Kaladze, though bought as a DM/CB, was a hell of LB, the first CL won under Ancelotti he was definitely the best left back in CL that season. I still remember how impressive he was against Real at San Siro (1:0), he ate Figo alive and still had the time to always be at hand in attack.

Regarding Papasthatopulous, didn't he played RCB/RB in 3-4-3 in Genoa? I've heard that he's very good on the side, so Allegri might use him on RB as he loves to play one side back who's really good defensively.

Robinho won't come here as he's too similar to Ronaldinho and it would be STUPID to sell a player of Ronaldinho's class to buy a player similar to him (similar position).

For Dzeko, he says that he's "bombed" with offers but Wolfsburg don't want to cut the price. Anyway, there no truth in 7 days ultimatum for Milan to make an offer, nobody wants to make an offer because the price is high, and Dzeko knows that.

Guess we finally have the Papas-pipi-the-lolos. Havent watched him as much. Was watching some of his videos when he played for Geneoa. He s impressive. Does any one know if he can be used in as a FB or he s only a good CB??? The other good thing he s only 22, so he s one for the future and plus we didnt have to waste our non EU spot on a defender except maybe we ve had to compromise on the ownwership of some of our young lads. In a way its good for both the players and Milan, so we can find out if these guys really deserve to play with Milan. So now our defensive issues seem to be balanced. Now i hope we can sign one good midfielder and offload some of our old guards and i think our summer mercato wud be a decent one.

a few years ago Di Gennaro was our so called 'greatest talent in years' , heturned out to be sh*t. I'm not too optimistic about our primavera players. we're no barcelona :)

The impression I get with Di Gennaro in what's stopping him becoming a really good player isn't talent imo, but rather motivation. In recent years, young players are becoming less interested as footballers and more interested in leading a flash celebrity lifestyle. My personal feelings are Di Gennaro, whilst a big talent, lacks the motivation to really break through and reach his potential. I also believe that's one reason (not the only reason though) Borriello hasn't ever been as good as he could have been (you just need to look at his touches during matches to see he has talent).

I'm not saying we need DIVA's.. I'm not saying we need IBRAHIMOVIC..

DZEKO, HONDA, Van der Wiel are not BIG NAMES,, but 3 guys who could seriously bring Milan back to their best....

Now add Rannochia, Papastathopoulos, and maybe another midfielder to replace Gattuso.... then we really have a squad...an impressive squad....

The names you mentioned there aren't massive names on par with Ronaldo and Kaka, but these guys are a massive demand. Dzeko's one of the most sought after players in the world and the asking price is as much as what Barca apparently want for Ibra.

Honda and Van Der Wiel are also wanted by many clubs and their prices have risen a lot during the world cup. Both are good players and could play an important part in Milan, but let's face it, we're not in a state to compete financially against many clubs.

However, we shouldn't be disheartened with names like Jucilei and Papastathopoulos (I think I might just refer to him as Sokratis lol). These guys are at a good age to come into our squad and mature into important players, and whilst not well known right now, are quite evidently talented. Very much like Pirlo, Gattuso, Kaladze and Kaka (to name just a few), these guys could grow into the stars we desire.

Every squad needs star players that can elevate the team in hard times, but in the current football environment, every squad must be complete.

Sokratis is also capable of pushing forward down the right as he has decent ball control and likes to drive forward (a bit like Thiago Silva).

Robinho as a replacement for Dinho makes a lot of sense. One is past his peak and ageing, and while he can play an important role as an individual, his lack of mobility and defensive effort is a problem for the team.

Robinho has shown he follows instructions to help out defensively and has impressed a lot this year in Santos and for Brazil, with both his movement, ability to run at opponents and goals. At 26, he could play for Milan for another few seasons at the very top, by which time hopefully Verdi will be ready to take a step into the first team.

Presumably there's some truth to it as it's everywhere this morning. Basically as part of the deal Genoa want the three youngsters on co-ownership. Oduamadi is happy to leave on co-ownership, while Strasser is considering his options. Albertazzi, meanwhile, has apparently rejected the move, wanting to prove himself at Milan.

What this means is if this is the case, then we have to renegotiate others into the deal, with Oddo, Janku and Kaladze all being considered, though the latter two are very unlikely to go.

imo, the best we can get from this situation is Oduamadi going on co-ownership along with Oddo and maybe another youth on co-ownership like Schenetti, Scampini or Novinic. I do want us to keep Albertazzi and Strasser as I think they could be useful in the future.

Seems like Sokratis Papa is going to be here for the 4.5m euro (Storari's money) and the co-ownership of Strasser, Albertazzi and Oduamendi. Nothing is mentioned of us getting the three Genoa youngsters on co-ownership too. Just when I thought the management did a good move getting a player in the right age, they go and do something stupid like giving those players on co-ownership, who will eventually be bought by us for alot more in the future (Boriello, Abate).

It also is official that Milan have bought 3 youngsters from Inter (I think for 7m euro). Fossatti (born in 1992) is one of them.

Yeah, I know that too buddy. It's just that I no longer take this kind of news as a favorable sign that Dzeko is getting closer to us or something. Money talks man, and much as he :5att: Milan, if Papi refuses to dig into his pocket there's no way we're gonna get him.

Anyway, what's the latest news about Hernanes. The last time I read that Villareal offered 11 millions and that's the best offer Sao Pauolo received as yet. What I'm asking is 1) how come his price drop significantly compared to last season? did he get injured much or his performance drop or something? then 2) how come no big clubs are reported to after him nowadays when last year clubs like milan and barcelona were constantly linked with him?

We bought two more youngsters today, Rocca and Ferrera from a club called Cimiano Calcio I think.

We have also loaned Donarumma out to Piacenza.

Strasser will sign tomorrow with Genoa according to his agent.

The TV rights deal Geo is talking about is still a big question mark, we don't know if our management had already included it in their plans, or if it comes as an added bonus. If indeed it is an added bonus, Milan would have absolutely no excuse now to go wild on the market buying players like Ibra and Fabregas, but I'm pretty sure that's not happening.

You know, after Juve had built their stadium last year (the only team in Italy to own their stadium), they have received a crazy amount of income apparently, and Galliani has been complaining for a decade about how Italian clubs need to own their stadiums to run self-sufficiently. Maybe, just maybe, they are collecting all this money to eventually build a stadium? In Italy, it was always Juventus to lead the way and Milan comes after them, so maybe this might be the reason we have been saving for the past half decade.

About the first part: this money was in the plans IMO, they maybe didn't expect to receive it this early, but that was for sure a part of the budget for 2010-2011. We receive this money each year (if I'm not wrong, we used to have more, the TV rights decreased), so it's planned in the books.

It's why while I wonder if the fact that receiving this money so early compared to other years could "force" us to use a part of it for the mercato, I think that won't change anything to our mercato: spending this money now means selling our biggest players at the end of the season to balance the books ...

About the second part: I don't know if it's in the plans of the club to build a new stadium (actually, given the situation on the mercato the last few years, I hope that won't happen soon because we would spend a big amount of money for this stadium and as a consequence, we would probably totally disappear from the mercato during some years, unless we sell players, but we should expect terrible summers for some years, and as a consequence, terrible seasons), but I read that there was some problems with San Siro and that both Milan and Inter should pay more than what they do to keep the stadium in the standards of UEFA.

Globoesporte report and quote Flamengo president: "I was going to Disney Land for vacation but now I prefer to go to Italy and talk to Galliani who confirmed that there is a possibility of selling Ronaldinho. I have rescheduled and I will soon travel to Italy for negotiations".

Another Italian transfer market Franco Zavaglia seems to believe that Milan will do "something" on the transfer market. He is one of many including Luciano Moggi.

Gattuso + agent are talking to Wolfsburg today after they were in Greece yesterday talking to Olympiakos. Maybe if Rino goes to Wolfsburg, we can try to bring up Dzeko in the negotiations. However one thing you can bet on, if Wolfsburg have been asking "only" a 40m price for Dzeko from Milan, then you can bet Galliani will return the favor giving them a similar stupid price when trying to sell Gattuso. The only difference is Wolfsburg don't need to sell Dzeko and Milan need to sell Gattuso.

Milan are still waiting on Kaladze, Oddo and Jankulovski to get the f out. I mean, as useless as Gattuso is, at least he understands that he is not needed here and wants to leave, respect to him. Hope he sets an example for the others to follow.

I read the contrary on TMW: "I was going to Disney Land for vacation but I would prefer to go to Italy. I'm aware of the quotes of Galliani saying that there is no possibility that Ronaldinho leaves Milan. If needed, I'll change my schedule to meet him."

Seems the Ronaldinho thing won't go away. If he really wants to go then let him, no point keeping players who don't want to stay.

It would be a pity to see Gattuso go and while he's not useless, his effectiveness has diminished. Gattuso + Huntelaar + money for Dzeko? Could be a slight possibility i guess.

What do people think of Bryan Ruiz of FC Twente?

But it's a sentence you can write for all kinds of players: from the worst ones to the best ones !! :D

The fact that there is some hype or not has nothing to do with the talent of a player and there are many examples ... By just taking the Italian NT, I can already give you the names of Pepe, Quagliarella and Iaquinta for example who were/have been/are hyped whereas they aren't the most talented players. There are the talented players who are hyped, and there are the players who have a good agent working for them.

Okay maybe I should be clearer about what I mean hype. We are all pretty clued up football fans here, and there isn't much chance of us all getting excited about the three players you mentioned. Hype in the media needs to be backed up by the hype of posters like yourself on here for me to pay any attention. Dzeko can be included in this bracket.

guys i'll say it one more time, sokratis cannot play as a fb at any case, maybe he can play at a 3-4-3 as the right/left defender center..but he has no technique with the ball down, not enough at least,he cannot run with the ball neither cross..and he can hardly play as a dmc as he is too defensive type, the guy is a pure stopper..

Sokratis himself has said he can play at rightback. He has pace, strength athletisim and is much better on the ball than you give him credit for. Besides anythign else, he is 22 and will only get better than the impression you have built up for him. If Serghinio, Kaladze and Janku can be converted into fullbacks then there is no reason why Papa can't. Also, he has been used as fullback by Genoa.

Fantastic player but very expensive I'm afraid. I've seen at least 25+ games from him the last 2 seasons (at AA Gent and FC Twente). He made twente the champions in holland on his own, he had a really impressive season, and I wouldnt mind him here. but like I said, Expensive.

I follow Sokratis Papastathopoulos since he was 17, he caught his chanse when he took the tranfer to AEK Athens. In Greece he was not playing RB, he was a very good CD, but he improoves fastly, but as a CB is very good, i don't agree with the money we spend for him... I wouldn't think berlusconi would have a problem with Socratis as he did with with Cissokho the entire point was that Milan was spending a sizeable amount of cash on a entirely unknown player with socratis according to reports he will come to milan on a loan deal he will be established quantity i am sure even berlusconi knows who is and has seen him play before.

I understand what you're saying and I agree to some extent. However, We need a game changer, and whether its Drogba, Robinho,Dzeko or Honda, I don't care... I know we supposedly don't have money, although I'd love for someone to explain "HOW" we're broke after selling Sheva and Kaka...and buying virtually no one... wining the Club World Club just 4 years ago...

We don't have a "Barcelona" type youth system so if we want to get back to our best, we need some better players than we have. I think we could all agree to that...

As Robinho goes, I dont think we should swap ROnaldinho for Robinho...both like to party and have had problems with teams in the past. They are the same player.,,and they do not adapt to many systems besides the 4-3-3...

I'd much rather prefer a 4-3-1-2

Ibra-Dzeko and Pato could do that also :)

Seriousely, we really need to sell players we dont need, but noone wants to buy players with absurde wages who are in decline. which is normal of course, except when Galliani is buying...

Sokratis is just a normal serie a player that will not add anything big to this team. But maybe Berlusconi likes Socrat, so he sees Sokratis as a "star" signing... old people are strange... :)

If Milan were saving all this money to buy their own Stadium then I'd understand and I'd be happy. Actually ecstatic. San Siro is obviously beautiful but a new modern stadium, with new revenues would be great for the future.

As far as the Mercato goes, I think we need 2 more signings besides Sokratis for fans to be even remotely satisfied. If not, 2011 better be a rebuilding year. 2-3 signings (40 million) plus some young kids in Primavera to slowly transition the team younger would be good...but at least we need to see something....

btw Ibra/Dzeko would never ever ever happen... if you get even 1 of those guys i think we'd all be ridiculously surprised... if we get Fucile, and Honda, along with Sokratis, Yepes, and Amelia, I think that's a successful mercato for our standards as of late...

problem is... do we keep ronaldinho or not..our whole system depends on whether Allegri wants him or not.. he's not a forward, yet he doesnt want to play defense.. so he only fits in 4-3-3...Allegri doesnt like that system from what i've been told..so we'll see...

interesting....

Lazzari for rino is a good signing. an upgrade certainlybut i would prefer a more competant player who is atleast used to the champions league pressure. as Jay said though. i expect a mid and an attacker to come and one of them will be a big name. so if lazzari is the mid. EXPECT A BIG NAME FORWARD :D. the key to start buying however is -as merki said- to start SELLING.ODDO/KALADZE/JANKO are the three to start with. if no clubs want to buy old effortless expensive high-waged shi**y players :D that's whi fifa made the RELEASE law. i know we have to pay them 50% of next years wages because the release came during summer. an agrrement could be reached between our crazy mafiosos :D and their agents to settle for about 10-15%

I'm pretty sure that Galliani will accept 7 or 8 for Ronaldinho.

If that happens, we'll move for Dzeko, i'm sure. (After we sell Huntelaar and Gattuso too, of course)

This means that our attack for next season could be Pato, Dzeko, Borri, Pippo. Not bad at all.

We arent improving if we only get Dzeko, we wouldnt have any creativity in our team, and that was already a problem even with ronaldinho. he was our number 1 assist-man and he was at the beginning of most attacks.

Actually, yeah I was being serious. The problem with Dinho is that, yes he assists, but a lot of time he's a liability. He just stands there when we don't have the ball, and without Pato creating havoc on the other side, he's too easily closed down.

Dzeko can be a bulldozer AND a finisher, something Borri lacks.

We already have enough creativity in Pirlo. We're not going to be playing Carlo style, one touch passes and possession football anymore. It's going to be direct attacks through Dzeko/Borri. The midfield isn't about creativity anymore, or technique, it's about brute force and solidity, and having the full backs push forward to cross.

We are lucky if we turn into a Benfica or Porto. At this particular point in time, we are simply conceding our position as one of the top teams in the world. We no longer wants the financial burden of being a top team, so we quit, simple as that. We want to become the new Arsenal, which is a team full of youngsters that are waiting to get sold for big money. Only trouble is, we stink at nurturing our young players. Pozzi was supposed to be the new Inzaghi, we messed him up; Albertazzi was the new Maldini and we didn't go anywhere with him either. He's still only 18/19, a consistent call-up for Italy U-19 and was shown not faith in, by Leo last season. I think Allegri will show a bit more faith in him and others, yet you've already written him off.

Pozzi was never the new Inzaghi. He could've been the new Tomasson, once again if he was given a proper chance.

Milan rejected Madrid 20 mil offer for Silva. His agent acknowledged Mourinho's interest in his client. Silva himself said he would love to play for him someday but he's happy with Milan for now.

Yeah, but with men like Berlu you can never tell. After all what a friend for, right Galliani?

It seems we are on course for another confusing transfer window.

Initially we signed Mario Yepes who is no-doubt a solid CB but his age is on the wrong side.

Then it was Marco Amelia on loan with an option to buy when Fiorentina bought Boruc for 1.7 Million. I am not sure if Amelia is better then Boruc especially when Boruc costs as low as 1.7 million. :w163:

Then it was Sokratis who is on the verge of signing and from what I have read in this forum he is an average player who can play both as a RB and a CB. If he was suppose to arrive then why did we renewed Oddo's contract? :w163:

Now thanks to Thiago Silva for rejecting Real Madrid and I hope Ronaldinho stays and we give more playing time to Huntelaar instead of selling both of them for Ibrahimovic who is a great player with lack of desire. I mean is Ibrahimovic worth both Huntelaar and Ronaldinho. :depress:

If Silva goes to Real. It will end up being a players swap deal. Like Drenthe and VDV for T. Silva.

On the surface it makes sense but Milan is really getting left over from Real in exchange for a must starter

Alot of you are saying Milan are starting to get good youths, with Verdi, Albertazzi, Darmain, Strausser, De Vito and others....but the truth is that I don't think they are ready or worse, they are just not good enough.
I mean, ALbertazzi can't even get a game with Oddo, and Favallie being a CB pair. Verdi, although 17, is the only natural RW/RM but he did not get a minute with both Beck and Pato injured.
Point is that ManU is also tight with their budget but at least they got tons of youth coming up years after years. Mancheda, the Twins, Nani, Gibson, Anderson, Evans brothers and their two new signing-Smalling and Hernendez are all ready to be a regular starter or squad rotation while they are all under 24. BTW, their leader Rooney is only 24 or 25.
It sadden to look at the current MIlan squad and compare to those great squads of the past. Even in the mid 90s to early 00s where MIlan finished out of CL, they were still great players in Weah, Baggio, Bierhoff, Boban, then Sheva. At least there were efforts from the MGT where as now, it seems like they are not doing anything but complains about taxes, or other teams bullying them around with money......

€1000 bet that this will be our team for next year....
Abate/Oddo...............Nesta..........Silva...............Antonini/JanKu
....................Flamini..............Ambro.............................
..................................Pirlo........................................
Pato...........................................................Ronaldinho
............................Pippo/Borielo.............................

I'll take that bet. Ronaldinho is leaving, 99%. We're not going to be replacing him with a winger, but a Trequartista, or a FW, depending on how much faith we have in Borri and if we sell Huntelaar. So either Honda or Dzeko.

Gabriel, about Verdi, how old is he ? I mean, how old was he during this season ? 16-17 ...

Do you know a lot of players who can, at this very young age, play in first team of a big team ?

I don't ...

PS: The injuries of Beckham and Pato at the same time were during the worst part of our championship, so like with Albertazzi at the end of the season in defence, it would have been totally against logics to launch them there ... If they are to play in first team, I think putting them during the whole season (no Primavera game) like it should be done this year from what can be read is the solution, they need to live the whole season with everybody to become a real part of the team and not just a backup here and there when everyone is injured.

Disagree with you there.

Pato broke in at 18, when Gila was not scoring, and R99 getting injured. You didn't see Seedorf or Ambro switching to striker to partner Pippo, but rather Pato became a starter the moment he became an official Milan player. Pato signed a professional contract in Nov and only trained with the club for a month or so before his debut.

Rooney broke in with Everton at 17 and I think his second was against Arsenal(league leader at that time when the game was tied 1-1) and scored the game winner.

Mancheda, two seasons ago scored two goals for ManU, that pretty much won them the EPL, as ManU at that time was in a really really bad state where they were losing pts in the league.

The Twins, esp., Rafael debuted for ManU in a CL knockout game.

Santon also broke into the Inter squad at 18 or 19.
Mario debuted at 17 or 18.

Cesc became a starter at Arsenal at 17 or 18 while playing mainly as a sub or in the reserve games.

Point is that, if the player is talented enough, they will be playing in the first team even if they are being called up during injury crisis.

Now I am not saying Verdi, Albertazzi and others won't make it, they could very well be the next Figo, Nesta and Cesc, but until they get a chance-even minutes with the other first team players, they will never make it. Put it this way, would you rather play Albertazzi and Verdi, 5-10 minutes here and there in the first team with normal first team players along with playing Reserve games for a season or just let them jump into the first team with other players with very minimum or no first grade exp.

Ozil had one good season and a good WC. Although I think he is the real deal but he just might be another Podolski and Klose, average for Clubs but great for Nationals.

Jim_UK
19-07-2010, 07:03
Ozil will be a free transfer next summer so Werder have to sell now to make any money from him. Not that it would make much of a difference to us, but this factor could lower the price considerably.

Eduardo seems like he could leave Arsenal for just £6 million, for that price i think we should make a bid!

Another player i'd like to see us at least show interest in is Anthony Annan of Ghana. He was really good in the world cup and you can easily see why he's likened to Essien. He plays for Rosenborg at the moment, but i'd have thought a bid of around £6-8 million would be enough. His athleticism would add some much needed bite to our midfield.

They won't sell him. I think they'll move Ramos to CB if they get Maicon.

If for whatever reason they did sell Ramos, i would imagine Berlusconi would have to find 35 million minimum.

Look at the names of these players: they're all growing stars and they will probably be the biggest stars of football of the coming decade ...
All players can't make it at 16 or 17, all won't become great, but if these players can at least be good squad players, it will already be interesting.

Also, some players need more time to mature, that doesn't mean they will not be good or better ... like you said in the last paragraph.

Now its 5:00pm in Italia and ZIP.....

Ive been reading all our links and story's this afternoon , and the main one's lately is that Dzeko is out of our price range no problem for me there i would love him but we cannot afford him.
Other players were Pedro Leon Fabiano Robinho Ibra Podolski again all too expensive I understand that too disappointing but whatever. Then the same thing is written after each that we don't have that much money to sign these guy's so Milan mgt Galliani Braida etc.. are looking elsewhere I really hope there is an elsewhere and that they have some sort of plan .I do think a striker mid and defender will arrive, But there is this burning feeling that no1 will a fear if you will.

If Dinho goes and no1 is brought in or only a player for a low fee or for free or on loan then we could and probably will be in serious trouble .He scored quite a few last season and created over 20 and if he goes thats almost 35 goals gone as no1 else not even Pirlo in an advanced role will create that.

Just a fear with our mgt you know what I mean , Id be well well happy now with Dinho going Hunter going and getting Dzeko and V.D.Vaart (i know i know) but if Dinho goes and no1 of a similar ability comes in I wouldn't want to be Galli.....I do have faith for awhile at least.

Guys, do you realise what you're writing ?! You're already criticizing Allegri before he even started his first training session (it's earlier and earlier, wow) !!

If I understand it rightly, before the first official day of Allegri as our coach, things will be like with Ancelotti and like with Leonardo here: the pro-Allegri and the people who want another coach. Funny days to come ...

PS: Just for the record, Leo, in his first days as our coach, said the same kind of things, and all coaches with a decent brain will say such a thing by starting. I never saw, even in the worst club in the world (who said Inter ?! :D), a coach starting by saying he needs to replace 6 players because they don't have the required level.

Well, actually, for the Scudetto, I think it could be possible ... Winning it or ending near the first place is quite possible IMO as we will have some backup in defence (one more fullback would be ideal to complete the roster of our defence).
Regarding the way things go, Gattuso, who was clearly useless last year, will leave and could be replaced by a midfielder who will offer more (not difficult to offer more than an injured/out of form player, I know :D).

We'll have an improved team compared to the one of last year I think.

About CL, it's another story ... If we want to be realistic, unless a miracle happens (no game against any favourite team before semi-finals or even until the final, injured players/suspended players for other teams, etc, well, like for Bayern this season), qualifying for the second round will already be good, and then, it will be bonus. Of course, Galliani and Berlusconi will probably come in some days saying that winning CL again should be one of our objectives of the season.

And if he leaves and that's that no replacement well wow that would be a disaster. And it isn't likely but not beyond the realm of possibility.I was listening to the Soccer show on ESPN today and they mentioned Dinho maybe going to Galaxy, I dont understand these teams are asking for RONALDINHO AND WANT HIM FOR FREE ????.

Yeah, first time I see that during a mercato !! Do they live in a dream world where evrything is for free ? :D

Anyway, it seems that it's Flamengo who asked for the player without any fee. Palmeiras would be interested too, they never mentionned wanting the player for free, as well as the MLS (no doubt the league will find 10M, which is the small price being set by the club, if there is any truth in that of course).

But Flamengo wanting a player for free, the 10M offer for T.Silva, it's quite ridiculous !! :dontkn:

PS: Am I the only one to think it's one of the less active mercatos (not for Milan, for all clubs) of the last decade if not the least ? First consequences of the last crisis ?

PS2: If we were to end the next championship at the 3rd place again, I'd hope there would be less difference of points between us and the first two teams (less than 5 points, and as a consequence, let's win it, because if we were to end with less than 5 points of difference, we would all be disgusted by the season because we would have been near the Scudetto :D).

I just have no expectation for the coming season. That way, anything is a bonus.

To be honest, I think Serie A is getting worse and worse by the year. Both Samporia and Palermo sold some of their top players. Roma looks stronger and so does Juve but they still ain't near the level of INter even with RB as manager. While Milan is living in denial. Genoa will be Genoa and the only rising team is Napoli. VIola lost their coach.
I finally realize why Berlu and Galli are against foreign ownership in Serie A. Since if that to happens, teams like Geona, Napoli, Parma or others will be bought by people who is willing to spend money and makes the team great, while Milan is trying to cut their budget. Just imagine Roman actually buying Viola and turning them into a top four team instantly. Then a Sheih buying Lazio and bought players like Adebayor, Tevez, Robinho, D. Silva, DeJong, Kompany and more. Or a Chinese owner getting a midtable side like Genoa and then spending 40mil per year to steadily improves the team.

Imagine that.

I agree. Even an absolutely insensitive jerk like Mourinho wouldn't bark at his owner before his job actually started. It is surely too early to put such judgment on Allegri.

I guess top managers from top clubs would have a plan involving transfers and certain demands to even take the job in the first place. Allegri comes from a relatively small club and is probably overwhelmed just to be in Milan.

I'm not judging Allegri yet, maybe he has the ability to get more out of the same players than Leonardo could. There's still a small portion of potential left in some of our players I guess. And hopefully we can stay clear of too many injuries...

The thing with Allegri is that he probably knows what type of squad he will be managing and people he will be working with.

He probably knows he won't be having players like CR9, Kaka and Messi. And most likely losing Dinho and others. Not sure if he is the one behind the Oddo's extension but I am pretty sure when he took up the job, he did not expects to have Kala, and Janku around.

DId Allegri asked for a few players here and there when he became Coach from B & G? He probably did, and most likely he asked for realistic targets-all players under 5 mil or so. Will he gets them is another story.

When you think about it? The firing of Leo might be more than Leo asking for much. It probably be the first step toward making Milan more Italian or European. As Brazilian and South American players are getting more and more expensive and if Leo is still around, he will be spending more money on guys like Hernanes or Juceili, even if they are 8 mil to 15 mil, Berlu will think they are over price....
Where he can always sign someone with Serie A exp like Yepes(although he is South American) or Amelia for free. Then shows how smart he is with every failed Brazilians and South Americans who did not make it in Europe.

Personally, if I was Allegri, I would take this Milan job, even knowing the squad is crap, the owner is cheap and there will be tons of pressure, but it is a launch pad for him to work for other big clubs as long as Milan finishes reasonably well, like CL spot. But any other top managers around the World would probably laugh at the idea of coaching Milan under the current conditions and that's speak how highly regard Milan is currently.

We can all laugh at Juve all we want but I would rather have Bonnucci instead of Yepes, Pepe instead of Mancini(if he signs with Milan-which I think it will happen at the end of August), and Martinez than trusting guys like Di Gennaro.

Point is that you can see the MGT of Juve doing something to improve the team while guys in Milan continues to think they are a Squad full of Champions, and that they were World Champions in 2008.......

We are almost in the middle of silly season, and I remain ambivalent at the progress (or lack thereof) in the mercato by Milan.

Its obvious that we need reinforcement, and to let some of the old warhorses go, but as to what Berlu will ultimately do, is anyone's guess.

Italy remains one of the European countries most impacted by the ongoing and possibly worsening (forget what you heard) global recession...and while other clubs such as Inter, Juve and (even) Roma are making lots of "waves" relative to Milan in the market, I refuse to worry at this point.

IMO, much depends on the outcome of the R9 "will he / wont he stay" drama, and once that is resolved, then I'm sure we will see a crystallization of our transfer plans.

There is no question that something will happen, the question is how big / small, and ultimately, how effective the moves will be.

The recent defensive and goal-keeping investments are typical of the current Milan mindset, and should come as no surprise....yet remain an indication that Milan Mgmt are aware that something needs to be done.

The entire midfield also needs a revamp....but only time will tell if / when / what will happen...

I too will have very low expectations for the foreseeable future for Milan. Such is life though.... :sigh:

A bit of a one sided bashing but all true.It is too early to say OMG we will do nothing next season as the mercato aint over yet.If Dinho goes I hope it is this week and not August 31st at 11:59 pm for an excuse of we had no time....Thats something Im wondering , it looks like Dinho will leave and are mgt actively looking for a replacement now or are they naive enough (that sounds wrong as Im talking about AC Milan but they have been inept for a long time now) to wait until he is gone.If or when he leaves I'll be interested to see what happens as I know realistically Robinho Dzeko Ibra are too expensive unless we can sign them for 10 million and they accept 3 or 4 million a year....Hey we might just get Mancini as a replacement...lol

Ummmmh ... A new story with Real Madrid is starting and that already bores me !! Real would offer 20M + Diarra (which one ?) for Thiago Silva, and the money could be used to buy Bruno Alves who interests the club. I hope it's not true (how can we have a solid defence if there is new players each season ?!).

Now we need a decent midfielder and get rid of R80 when he s worth atleast something. Coz next year he will be out of contract and we wont get shyt for all the money we ve spent on him. Its useless. He s not going to play the way he did last season primarly coz the WC is over and Leo s gone. So i dont see why he would play at the same level.

I'd say that's a pretty good deal. Like it was mentioned above, those three don't really have a great chance of being important in the squad but Papa is. If they end up being good enough for Genoa, they'll pay us something for that privilege. They wouldn't have the chance to prove that if they just rot in our reserves.

I actually think it's a win-win, as long as they play in Genoa (or if they stay, play a few games for us). Are they staying or going to Genoa, btw? I remember reading that we sold half the contract, but they're actually staying with us this season.

I have a feeling Papa is going to really impress people a lot and add some balance to our team (we only had Bonera recently as a defensive minded full back, and with Antonini on the other side, Bonera added balance to the team, unlike Abate).

I agree about Ronaldinho. Leo is gone and no more WC chances for him so now He'll party and get fat... so I'd sell him and buy Honda/Ozil

But the bigger picture is that this team is no good..... Berlusconi is scared to even spend 2 miliion and always talks out of 2 sides of his mouth...therefore we'll barely make Top 4 this season if we're lucky,, everybody here keeps saying we don't have money we're rebuilding blah blah.. the teams not good enough end of story... No chance to do any damage in Champions League and no chance to win the league ahead of Roma/Inter and possibly Juventus...Sell the team Berlu....

Well we spent 4 or 5 million 2day on Papa...And the team isn't that bad for Serie A i agree that we won't win Serie A or the CL but by Serie A standards this team will be capable of finishing 3rd or even 2nd.Im saying capable not that they will mind you.

And Allegri is a good manager and he would of known what he was taking on he knew he wouldn't have 50 or 60 million to work with , and would of planned for that...he knew Yepes was coming in and probably is the guy who asked for Papa.Remember Papa cost all towed about 7 million , thats what Vidic cost thats around the same as Silva and Evra. Not every great player has to cost 20+ million right off the bat how much was Maicon, Papa is only 22 and with Silva Pato I'll add Flamini Abate Antonini Borri Pirlo rediscovering near his best and with guy's like Ambro Seedorf Nesta Zambro Onyewu even Bonera and a mid + a striker the team isn't awful.

Sure its not Real Madrid Man City Inter or Barca but what have Real or City done with the hundreds of millions spent ????
Sure we would of liked more but it won't happen.

I also read what Berlu said and he is an A$$HOLE PLAIN AND SIMPLE he is lying Milan have not spent and average of 60 million in each of the last 7 seasons , his talk of winning everything is unrealistic but again he's not and shouldn't say we won't win but...To be competitive and do the best they can would of been more proper.
He is not thinking rationally I wish he would stop talking about the past , Italy won the WC in 2006 what did they do in this WC???? The way he talks is as if the fans (US) are being unreasonable and childish but no1 is looking for 100 million to be spent 20 - 30 million on 3 players that will add something and improve the team is reasonable and realistic and I HONESTLY THINK IT IS WELL WITHIN THERE REACH TO DO THAT it wouldnt plunge the club into massive debt would allow a better chance of progressing in the CL challenging for the league aswell. It would bring in money and increased merchandise sales. But the longer they go without spending the further the team will fall and they will lose alot more money than 20- 30 million in the long run.
Managing the club to have no debt is great but not investing and improving the team or at least trying to is mis-managing the club.I gave up on listening to Berlu along time ago the man is out of touch......And has a distant relationship with the truth.

Being unwanted by Real Madrid means nothing. Sneijder and Robben were unwanted by them last year and ended up being key players in their new clubs' runs to the Champions League final. This year's "unwanted" Real Madrid players may include Van Der Vaart, Gago, Drenthe, Lass Diarra and even Benzema. Thiago has great potential, but if Madrid wants to send some combination of those players Milan's way, I wouldn't say it would necessarily be a bad deal for Milan. Remember, after a season at Madrid, Thiago might be one of their unwanted players. Hell, there are rumblings now that they may want to move Kaka.

Rinho's money for Jucilei and some players on loan ( Hleb, maybe some Real players like VdV, Marcelo, Diarra etc., maybe Galliani can pull something off... somehow.). And investment in Ibra who would made our attack play on a level above without any doubt.

Id take any player now, Drenthe, anyone :) Just so I dont have to look at MArek, Oddo and Kaladze again in Milan's shirts! :) Sokratis is also ok :)

----------Ambrosini------
------Jucilei------Pirlo---
----Pato---------Dinho-----

This is a serious team. And no, Dinho CANNOT play CAM, as Silvio wants.

which team have we got so far:
Berlusconi said he wants us to play with 2 strikers, wich is also Allegri's favorite system it seems, so:

Amelia/Abbiati

Abate-Nesta-T.Silva-Antonini

Flamini-Pirlo-Ambrosini

Ronaldinho

Pato-Borriello/Huntelaar

backups (very important!): Abbiati/Amelia-Zambrotta-Sokratis-Bonera-Yepes-Janks-Kaladze-Gattuso-Seedorf-Inzaghi-Huntelaar/Borriello

IMO we should improve our midfield, it lacks speed and creativity! + Dinho cant play in the center. So I hope we'll sell him and get a player like Ganso or Honda. + I hope for another CM, Jucilei or hernanes. Add another fullback and we are OK! not Fantastic but decent enough for what we realistic can expect :)

Everything you want to know: Berlusconi on the new season

SILVIO BERLUSCONI has spoken today ahead of the new season.

The Rossoneri President has intended today the annual meeting of the team after three years. Berlusconi landed in Milanello training in 14:15 Italy time and the fans were booing him.

Berlusconi joined CEO Adriano Galliani and new coach Massimiliano Allegri and signed some autographs, before entering into the AC Milan’s press room, where he held a press conference.

“I’m the President of the most successful club in the world.”

Berlusconi started with the same old motto: “I’m the President of the most successful club in the world. I have been the President of this club for 25 years, one who has won the most. The second behind me is Santiago Bernabeu who had a stadium named after him. I am proud to be the president of a team that is so important at international level. Like every team, playing in international competitions, Milan have also had costs and every year we have invested a large figure.

“We have to congratulate Inter for the victories obtained during the last season. I often heard from president Massimo Moratti. He invested 125 per cent of revenue. We have invested in the last seven years, 461 million euros, 100 million and 1 billion euros in my 25 years, so it is not true that there has been no funding for this team, mine is a love and I have always tried to give the maximum from the point of view.”
“We absolutely have a squad that can compete with anyone.”

Berlusconi turned his intentions towards new coach Massimiliano Allegri and talked about the squad: “Today I am also here to have a coach who has done very well on the bench at Cagliari, who also won awards and for us had the right identikit to coach Milan. His face is that of a movie star but is also a good coach who has had brilliant results. Milan has one mission: win, win in all competitions in which it has committed itself to. And to win you must take the field with the right desire and right determination. We must take control of the game and therefore Milan always needs to attack-minded.

The victories come through the why we play game, in an entertaining way and Milan is the best-known team in the world for that. Players who take the field should set examples opponents as well as team-mates. Milan had the fewest number of bookings and sendings-off last season, which is important.

“We absolutely have a squad that can compete with anyone. I defy anyone to tell me the name of a team that has similar class in midfield to what we have, with Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Seedorf and Pato. As for last year’s team, I salute with affection Dida and Favalli who gave a lot to this group. Today, we are not only here to present the new coach, but the three new signings: a great goalkeeper Marco Amelia as it has always been one of my favourite keepers, a defender Mario Yepes and a young Greek defender who marked Messi out of the World Cup, Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

“We have a good squad and we want to stay on top in Italy, Europe and worldwide. We are also looking to invest a lot in the youth sector and we have seen the fruits of that labour when we won the Youth Cup, the Berretti finishing second in the league and then Allievi Nazionali who won their title. As for the first team, our players cost a lot in terms of contracts and salary. We have a few players out of contract next season and we have to change things looking towards youth. This year expired Dida, Favalli and Beckham’s contract expired. So next year, since there are a lot of contract expiring we will prepare well to bring in domestic and foreign stars.”
“The choice was to reduce the number of sponsors, but we wanted to focus on sponsors of an international level that may increase the already high profile Milan has worldwide.”

On the sponsors of Milan, Berlu told: “We also have news regarding sponsorships. The choice was to reduce the number of sponsors, but we wanted to focus on sponsors of an international level that may increase the already high profile Milan has worldwide. We then assigned this to Infront, the new arrival is Fly Emirates and the contract with D & G has been renewed for three years.

“Without forgetting that the agreement Milan has with adidas, Spains’sponsor at the World Cup, Germany’s who finished third in the World Cup and Diego Forlan, who won the best player overall. There is also a new team bus this year and they it is here today in the Milan colours. It is very comfortable inside. There is a new gym, the most modern and innovative imaginable. Finally, there is a new covered stand which will give sponsors the opportunity to following the team in training.”
“The mission for the new coach Massimiliano Allegri is to win on every pitch and on every occasion.”

He continued about what he wants to see from the team and how he would play with this squad: “Talking with the optimism as always, with the mission for the new coach Massimiliano Allegri, which is to win on every pitch and on every occasion. The behavior of the player on the pitch must be exemplary for everyone, especially for young people.

“Milan wants to maintain team model, making us fall in love with the way it looks and plays. We want to attack and we see two points ahead. To win you have to score goals, we must try to score and to shoot on goal we must be there in the penalty area, so I prefer to play with two strikers.”
“Ronaldinho? I have not spoken with him, but it is definitely a Rossoneri player and he will remain so.”

Ronaldinho has been linked with Flamengo and Galaxy, but the Italy PM has other plans for him, while he admitted the Rossoneri have said no to Real Madrid’s offer for Thiago Silva: “Ronaldinho? I have not spoken with him, but it is definitely a Rossoneri player and he will remain so. He will sign a new contract, is by far the best player I’ve ever seen, we have to find the best position to bring out the best in him. I hope to see Dinho in a more central role and one in which he can often get into shooting positions because he has goals in his blood too. I also see him as a support striker. Thiago Silva will also remain at Milan.”

Former Milan coach Leonardo used Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato as two wide men in 4-3-3, but Berlusconi finds it wrong: “Leo is a great person, but we had several differences on team selection, Pato was too sheltered for me out on the wing. I think we can do well, and I am convinced this team has a good squad, it is hard to find the better players on the market, then I continue to reiterate that we will focus on youth in the near future. No one will leave Milan, then if there are opportunities to bring in players we will.”

Asked why he didn’t appear much in the stadium last season, Berlusconi explains: “After the attack suffered in Milan, due to security reasons I was forced not to go to the stadium often. He added: “I also didn’t want to see Huntelaar so far from the area and I didn’t like that.”
“I have been president for 25 years, but…”

For many the first time, Berlusconi did not rule out a Milan sale: “I have been president for 25 years, but if I met a group or a character who had passion and would be willing to spend what I and my family have spent these years, I would be listen to them. I haven’t found them.”
“I have great admiration for Rino as a man and a player”

Gennaro Gattuso has been linked with Milan exit, but Adriano Galliani, came after Berlusconi’s words, has underlined there is no offer in place for Gattuso. Silvio Berlusconi said he would like Milan to stay: “Gattuso? I have not been fully informed, but I have great admiration for Rino as a man and a player. I would be pleased if he stayed, but what we will not do is keep a player against his will if he wants to leave. At present, however, there is no negotiation so I guess he will remain.

AC Milan were said to collect money for Zlatan Ibrahimovic from FC Barcelona, but Berlusconi has doubts on how he could fit this team’s program: “Ibrahimovic? We have never spent a lot of money on all player, except for Ronaldinho. It’s true that Ibra was virtually ours in 2006, we had an agreement with him and Juventus, Then things changed in Italian football, but I had my doubts on how he would fit in when it came to the Rossoneri dressing room.”

If Real take T. Silva, Oddo, Janku, Kala and Seedorf in exchange for M. Diarra, Drenthe, VDV and 10mil or so.
Then it is a great deal for both clubs.

Real getting a true starter and 4 useless players of Milan, while MIlan getting 3 rejects from Real with 10Mil.

Oddo is a World Champion, while Maicon is not.
Kala won more CL than Vidic and David Luiz combine.
Janku is an upgrade at LB.
While Seedorf is a 4 times CL champion.

How can Real say no.

It is extremely hard to find especially buy a great CB. Silva is developing to a great CB. Me personally won't sell him even 20 mil + VdV or 20 mil + Diarra which is still pretty cheap!
20 mil is too little for Silva and the bonus (VdV or Diarra) is much more cheaper.

No for Silva transfer. He showed what he can do last season and he is a loyal player. I hope Milan management are still able to respect player's loyalty.

What about Ramos + VDVaart + 15m :D

EDIT:
I wished we could just sign VDVaart without losing Silva!

I don't know, I just alreay believe in Silva's ability. So with your offer what I thought for the first time is to compare Ramos and Silva ability to play as CB and I think, there is big difference between them regarding their ability as CB and then I look at the bonus: VdV, not so great and then the other bonus: ah, only 15 mil. So, me personally still choose Silva. 15 mil we can only get average to a bit good striker or attacking midfielder and I don't trust so much VdV ability in these days.

Silva in my opinion is one of our big asset in the team. He will be our next great CB, like Milan have been shown for so long time. Without Silva, who will be our next great CB after Baresi, Maldini and Nesta?

MAYBE Milan will buy at least Dzeko and we can maybe enjoy his football IF he tourns out well... MAYBE Sokratis creates a name for himself... if not, another season with headings and me and flame talking **** in here. :)

OMG honey! :5drunk:
Silvio and you both need a reality check! You are the one persistently bitching here for the last 2-3 years. :p146:

Getting laid for once should fix that. Although, if your attitude is the same in real life too, I understand why you can't get any.:1d31:

Silvio's problem is perhaps the exact opposite. Too many teenage models have appeased him into not giving a crap about anything. :respect: Can you really blame the man (http://media.ebaumsworld.com/picture/ninja_powah/Jailbait-1.png)? :)

Can't you hear him? - "I am the most successful ever! We are the champions! I have seduced the largest number of underage girls, more than Santiago Bernabeo, and they have named a stadium after him" :respect: :haha:

Berlu's comments were mostly drivel, but it did make me think about Papa. Does anyone actually remember if it was Papa that marked Messi during the world cup. I remember someone did man-mark Messi and did a pretty good job. Just not sure it was Papa.

How much does it cost me !!
In 25 years, my family has spent one billion and thousonds of millions for the squad

No stadium

It seems it was Papa ...

Anyway, on TMW, you can read another funny (damn, they're all kidding Berlu nowadays and as a consequence, us) article about the press conference of yesterday. They imagined what could have said Allegri after each sentence of Berlu and about Papa-Messi:

Berlu: Papa is the man who stopped Messi at the WC.
Allegri: Messi was stopped by everyone during the WC.

its true that dinho cannot play as a CAM,it was obvious last year too,but people tend to forget easily when they're optimistic...

last season we started with a a 4-4-2,and it was total tragedy, then leo came with the 4-3-3 which was better although we did not have the players needed(fbs were mediocre and pato is not the best choice for rw)anyway we need 3-4 starters to start thinking of serie a..

and for once more socratis cannot play as a fb,dont count on it..

And to more seriously answer the Papa/Messi question, this from the Greece player ratings at World Cup Blog:

Sokratis Papastathopoulos – 7.5: Started brightly against Nigeria before being made a tactical sacrifice but his moment in the spotlight was undoubtedly his man-marking job on Lionel Messi in the final match, where he confirmed he’s a superstar for the future.

I don't know what is this "buzz" about Papa managing to mark Messi ... Seriously, it's not one game that should lead us to the statement that Papa is a great player (or the contrary). How was he during the whole season ?

Oddo marked Ronaldo against Manchester in 2007: is Oddo a great player ? One of the defenders of Chelsea (Bosingwa) managed to mark Messi in the Barcelona-Chelsea game of 2 years ago, is Bosingwa a great player ?

I'm optimistic about Sokratis after reading many posts and articles about him, but let's not kid ourselves by judging him only on one game, and furthermore a game with his NT during a WC, which is very different (as well as Messi is a very different player with his NT, I even think they should try to play without him).

Some of the words and ideas of Allegri please me (he has a press conference):
- he wants a balanced team (which means no more player walking and watching his partners)
- it seems that if Ronaldinho stays, he won't let him do what he wants (no more tactics relying only on Ronaldinho, he will have to adapt to the team, and not the contrary) and will force him to have a good physical condition
- likes playing with 2 strikers
- seems he will try to use the young players too
- he doesn't put too much pressure on Pato's shoulders as he said the guy is amazing but he's still young and needs to mature (it's a change, for once, Pato isn't introduced as our "savior")
- said he will bring various tactics compared to the ones (well, the "s" of "ones" isn't needed) of last year

Oh, and he sent a small message to Berlusconi :D: "It's obvious that the team, the ideas will be mines. I am the coach."

Didn't he already do it ? Regarding the way he speaks about Sokratis, he could well be a replacement for T.Silva !! :D

I'm French, yes, but the Italian language is similar to the French one (actually, only sometimes :D), I read and read and read a lot on Italian websites, it's a way to learn, and I sometimes use a translator for one word here and there. So I'm able to read more or less Italian, but without real lessons, it's still very difficult to make my own sentences and have a proper discussion in Italian (I know the basics). Translating Italian in English is a good way to work both languages IMO ... :)

Earlier in the summer, 11 contracts were supposed to expire next year and that so-called revolution was being awaited by all of us.

Already, 1 training session only, Oddo and Abbiati have renewed their contracts. Ronaldinho, Nesta, Pirlo will also most likely renew. Meaning that 6 players will have their contracts expired: Janku, Kaladze, Seedorf, Inzaghi, Roma, 1 more. Who knows how many contracts will be renewed come December? Some revolution.....

lol, thanks to you and everyone who answered my question. I was merely interested in Berlu's comment and to know if it indeed was Papa that marked Messi. He did a good job in that game, but like you said a single game isn't enough to judge him. However, from what i have seen of him in Genoa and for Greece, he does seem a decent player and the most promising defensive signing we've made in recent years (with exception to Thiago).

Youth captain Romagnoli has been officially loaned out to Zemanlandia (Foggia).

I saw Milan's squad list on the official site and noticed a few surprises:
- Onyewu not in the squad list at all
- Albertazzi, after refusing to be co-owned by Genoa, is not in the list
- Oduamadi, Strasser, Adiyiah in the squad list
- We have 10 DEFENDERS (excluding Onyewu and Abate who has been moved to midfield to complete the numbers (just like how Seedorf was an attacker when we didn't have enough))
- No Verdi on the list

Allegri is so f****d ! If he can manage a top 4 finish with this then he is really a good manager !!! Supporting Milan is becoming very bad for mental health now !

I still have hopes that there is a larger plan behind all this shi tty ness. Afterall he gave us many great years. unless he;s going insane or maybe his children want more money left to them after he;s gone ! i can;t see why he shouldn;t spend or have a grand plan in works ! well ...
