View Full Version : Summer Mercato 2010
Youth captain Romagnoli has been officially loaned out to Zemanlandia (Foggia).
I saw Milan's squad list on the official site and noticed a few surprises:
- Onyewu not in the squad list at all
- Albertazzi, after refusing to be co-owned by Genoa, is not in the list
- Oduamadi, Strasser, Adiyiah in the squad list
- We have 10 DEFENDERS (excluding Onyewu and Abate who has been moved to midfield to complete the numbers (just like how Seedorf was an attacker when we didn't have enough))
- No Verdi on the list
Only the first one is surprising in my opinion.
As for the the rest, our youth set up is a bigger mess than it was 10 years ago, who is going to make the team who is not, etc.
Gooch is on the list.

They must have corrected that, I think their webmaster is as confused as the rest of us :D
maybe the webmaster want gooch out of the team

About Abate being in the midfielders list, would it be because Allegri will use him in midfield ? It could maybe give the reason why they gave one more year to Oddo ... :D

I realize that I am the usual optimistic person here, and while I want to underline that I am not satisfied with the Milan's transfer dealings, I think the signings that have to Milan actually are going to significantly help us this season.
While our midfield is the area given the least amount of attention (by transfer rumors and most pundits) it seems that as a result of the defensive signings, it (the midfield) could improve significantly without signings (even though it still needs one or two).
How is this? I think that a healthy Bonera, Yepes, and Papa are critical towards reshaping how we manage our back four. With Bonera and Yepes able to provide cover at CB, allowing Nesta and Thiago more rest, Papa's versatility (at RB or CB) allows Zambro to be used less (big games) and also provide a fresher alternative for LB should Antonini be unavailable, rather than Janku.
This gives us:
--Papa/Bonera--Nesta/Yepes--Thiago/Bonera--Antonini/Zambro
Papa provides us versatility, and with the establishment of Antonini on the left, genuine competition for Zambro, who still has something left to give, if his WC performances are anything to go by. This is obviously not certain, but, I think to write off Zambro would not be fair.
This releases Abate from the RB spot. Coupled with the reported centrality that Flamini will play in Allegri's plans and the 4-3-1-2 that we might be using, I can see an important improvement to Milan's energy levels.
If Ronaldinho is actually apart of Allegri's plans and if Pirlo isn't going anywhere, I can see Milan's 3-1 as:
--Abate--Pirlo--Flamini
---------Dinho
Abate has potential, and I think because of his tenacity, willingness to fight, speed, and endurance he has the makings of very good midfielder. I think we saw some of that potential when he played as a RB, but, I think as a midfield work horse he could provide an injection of pace that our midfield has been missing.
I think a Pirlo replacement is our number one priority for our transfer market. I'm not sure it has to be a like-for-like player, but rather someone who can actually slot into the midfield and open the game, which is different to what Seedorf does. Seedorf will give you that attacking edge in the final third, but Pirlo will open the space so that there can be options in the attacking third.
If we line up in 2010-2011 as:
--------Marco/Abbi
Papa/Z--Nesta--Thiago--Anto
----Abate---Pirlo---Flamini
------------Dinho
-----Pato--------Borri
Bench: Abbi/Mar; Yepes; Bonera; Huntelaar; Seedorf; Ambro;
I think I see a team good enough for Serie A, but not for something else. We have the fire power, goals from Pato, Borri, Dinho etc but we do not have an alternative to Pirlo in midfield. That is what Milan is missing, the competition for places that makes good teams great. I never thought goal keeping was a major issue last year, and defensively we simply did not have the depth at CB to deal with losing Nesta for so long (which was stupid).
I think a smart loan/purchase of Cigarini, Montolivo, etc is what Milan needs. Because I think its obvious, that even with this set of players, if a team wants to play toe-to-toe with us, we can out possess them, we can defend ruggedly, but it is all predicated on players being healthy, because we have no plan B in critical areas.
The gap for Milan from contending in Europe is the ability to provide enough threat from other players to counteract the "mark Pirlo/Dinho" strategy that worked so well last year. I think the pursuit of another striker (real or not) is a response to the finishing that prevented Milan from putting Man Utd (and other teams) to the sword.
I think the loan of Marco and the signing of Papa are things that we haven't seen Milan do in a long time. They might not be the signings we dream of as fans, but they are certainly different to what the management has done before. I would not turn down a few more signings like those, and I am particularly interested to see how Fossatti factors into Milan's future.
Maybe things are changing? Too little too late? I'm not sure, but, I think Milan will be stronger in Serie A than in the CL this year, but it is increasingly obvious that our youth are going to be playing a bigger role for us in the future. Maybe not next year, but looking at Milan's official squad list (on acmilan.com) its interesting seeing the date of birth of the youth players compared to our older players. Why? Because there is very little inbetween.
Verdi is 18, Adiyiah is 20, De Vito is 18.. etc These players are not going to be ready yet, and the reason why Pato started the day he was able to was not simply because he was a super talent and everyone at Milan's youth is garbage, its because he was bought for 20 something million. We need to give the youth time, and also remember, that this is the Serie A, where young players rarely get chances at big clubs. Do we forget this?
Only time will tell whether we got the right prospects or not, but, all I do know is that asking 18 year olds to start or be labeled as useless is the exact reason why Italians protect youth players in the first place.
Thoughts?

True I (we) have seen many mistakes. I would do that job better and cheaper :w262:

Let's be even more optimistic: if Gattuso leaves, they will surely buy a younger midfielder for the same amount I think. Could be interesting depending on who they plan to buy ...
If Ronaldinho leaves, I don't know why, but I feel Pirlo will be given a more advanced role and that they will try to get another midfielder, if possible, a versatile one.
Yes, I'm starting to think that we won't get any new forward (Dzeko) ... but it would be the icing on the cake !! :D
True I (we) have seen many mistakes. I would do that job better and cheaper :w262:
Why cheaper ? Just imagine you could have had this job 3-4 years ago, you could have asked for 1M/year to work 15 hours a week !! :D
Nowadays, they would offer a free job or an internship to students with 50 hours a week of work, without forgetting to also sell tickets at the wicket and close the doors of San Siro after games.
Does anyone know exactly what`s our transfer budget this summer?I know its suppose to be somewhere between the 15 and 20 millions mark.
Berlusconi said that he wont invest any extra money, and Alegri is going to play with two strikers. So if we have some 20 millions and were going to sell Hunt for about 15 maybe we can finally get Dzeko?
Although i would rather have Pato-Borrielo up front with Pippo &Adyah as backups.I know there not solid backups by any means but i think we should reinvest does potential 30-35 millions in a midfielder. If that money is real ,we should get Ozil or maybe even try and allure Gourcuff back to Milan.
Cause who else are we going to buy on such a tight budget?

I don't think that right now we have 15 - 20 million and then another 15 million.Im hoping that a player or player's will arrive but its touch and go with that.If we had 35 million with the sale of Huntelaar we have already spent 5 on Papa and the other 30 could be spent on Hernanes Jucilei and Say Fabiano but I don't think we'll end up with that type of mercato.
I honestly think another 2 players will come in but I also think that one will be a player that costs 6 - 8 million and the other will be on loan or free.I have no idea what positions but I think 1 will be a mid to replace Gattusso as he has the sense to move from where he is not needed .But I just do not see us having 20 million and 15 for Hunter to spend....Actually I see it but I don't think that much will be spent.

The only logical thing I can think of with respect to reported 20 mil budget (+ sales) and no spending so far is Allegri wants to work out with team and gauge some players before making purchases.....
Otherwise it's just more incompetence from Galliani
There is also aspect of world cup

Abate is pure disaster... I can't imagine first line up with him,it would be hilarious!
He was playing out of his position last season, but that don't change the fact that he is nothing more than mediocre player.Someone said something abot willingnes to fight,tenacity... That is features of defensive midfielder, not winger.. We need creative, fast, skilled player on that position and abate is only fast. He is good for Atalanta,Bari... or something like that, but first 11 of Milan???? You guys must be kidding! :ilol:

he had one **** up v. inter. Otherwise i thought he showed alot of potential @ FB

Agree totally, he started the season like a house on fire and at one stage seem the only player in our squad who could cross. Towards the end of the season, he lost his way, but he was a relatively young player playing out of position, in his first shot at a big club. Its understandable.
He deserves a second season at the very least. Although, I think he has more chance of being a world class rightback than a world class winger. He has the pace to recover from mistakes, similar to Serghinio.

I actually liked how Abate played last season, first season at Milan, out of position, still young, I thing we will turn into a great player. His defensive side sucks, but he has much better crosses than Oddo, and he has speed. Speed is the key the rest he can learn he still young. You cant teach speed.

For starter, I think Abate did a solid job at RB last season. Esp., when you considered the amount of help he got from midfield and the CBs(when Nesta and Silva were injured). His def. positioning in transition and cross from the other side as well as his one on one defending needs improvement, but beside that he showed great potentials to be the next GREAT RB for IT. Remember that it took times for Zambro to adjust playing at RB too.

Juve bought Bonucci
Inter co-own Ranocchia with Genoa.
I'm happy with Papa, but Milan missed out on 2 very talented, young, Italian defenders.
I don't expect Thiago Silva to stay for too long. These guys are likely to be more loyal.

Actually, I rate Sokratis more highly in terms of skill and prospect than Ranocchia and Bonucci if they weren't Italian. Ranocchia and Bonucci had just appeared last year while Sokratis was singed as one of the most promising defender in Europe long before he moved to Italy.

I was watching our second training yesterday on Milan Channel. some conclusions:
1. What I loved about this training is most of it it was team play with Ball. A lot of first touches and a lot of movements.
2. A lot of the youngsters were involved(but that maybe because some of the players are still on holiday)
3. Ronaldinho was not training with the group, meaning that he trains alone on his fitness. And thats absolutely terrible, I will never understand how a sports person can loose fitness in 5 weeks, that much. To come to the condition that Dinho is after every summer break you have to live very unhealthy. How come flamini and the other were fit enough to start immediately the normal training.
I absolutely believe that he sat all day on his ass for 5 weeks. you know what other football players do during their summer break. They go 10 days on holiday somewhere, the eleventh day they are already training lightly(some of them even join local teams that start earlier to train with the to HOLD DOWN TO THEIR FITNESS, a term that Dinho is not familiar with.) In this whole mess we are in, the only positive thing that we had was that all our Important players missed the World Cup, and I believed that we could have a great start of the campaign cuz we would be fresher than the competition. But NO, now we have to wait for our Most important player to get back to fitness. For me that is irresponsible we can not relay only on his magic, Allegri was very clear on this matter. We should FIRE HIM(read sell him). period.

Hardly a disaster. Many have defended him and rightly so, as I honestly think he was one of the most positive aspects of our campaign last season, at least in development of players. As a RB he made one high profile mistake against Inter, which he was quick to admit to and learn from. Beyond that, he did make minor mistakes at RB, but he often covered them up with his speed (and given his relatively young age and naivity to the position, he could still develop his positional sense).
Granted he's not the most talented player we have, but as a wingback in attack he needs pace, stamina and a good understanding of timing runs. The first two he has plenty of, whilst he improved through the season with the timing of his runs.
The guy at the very least deserves another chance in the squad to develop further. If we use him our first choice RB for another season, then I won't
be complaining as I still believe he has a lot to offer but needs patience and at 23 is still young.
Their webmaster is an amateur ... There are regularly mistakes on the website.
About Abate being in the midfielders list, would it be because Allegri will use him in midfield ? It could maybe give the reason why they gave one more year to Oddo ... :D
I wouldn't take Oddo's renewal to mean much about how we intend to use our squad. Oddo himself admitted that his contract has been spread over 2 years. Basically, this means the purpose of the renewal was to ease the burden of cost on him for the coming year. In the long term it doesn't make much difference, but for the coming year, we save a little.

Abate did ALRIGHT last season but will serve us better in a midfield where only Pirlo is a confirmed starter!!!!!!

Babel is not a player that will give us a lift in the quality, Im not for him in AC Milan.

calcio:
Abate - he simply cannot play as a fullback, not untill he gains much, much more experience as a defender at least. But even then I wouldnt play him in there. That player has no brains to play in a great team with highest quality. he has no vision of the field, players run behind his bacl vertically all the time, he just moves up-down withour any feeling for the rithm of the rest of the players etc. For me he is not a player Milan can use, except as a one of the 8-10 players that will be on the bench now and then and will be rotated as a RW, RM sometimes. Or at least untill he learns how to think well. As a FB he is a disaster.
Dinho is Dinho, was drinking and dancing all summer, he always did that and probably always will. He will be back with the group soon tuttomercato says.

It proves Berlu is full of sh!t , he has said time and time again that in the last 6 years he has 467 million when its actually only around 140 million which is alot of money but spread over 6 years is only around 23 million a year.I just added up in my head may be a bit off but there is no way he has spent 467 in 6 years unless he is factoring in wages which every team would of spent hundreds of millions.
About Abate he is full of energy and effort and his mistake against Inter stands out but against Man Utd he was also out of position for at least 3 of the goals. He will do better in midfield but IMO on Milan teams of the past he would only be a squad player and now I cannot see him being a great winger now.He is only 23 but technically he isnt great , now comparing him with Robben Di Maria etc... isnt fair but he isnt at the level of Valencia Ashley Young either , he really does try his best but isn't the kind of player you will find starting for a top level club.
He could veru well get better with time but we don't have another 2 seasons to see how better he will get if at all.
P.S....Im not saying he is awful and should be cast aside and sold but if we really want to compete in the CL and Serie A (quarter finals and 2nd hell maybe win it the scuddetto) he is not the guy to be playing RB or RW but we dont have much of a choice.

as far as babel, i see the potential. i am willing to take him if it is him and cash, and not a straight player swap. We will need a back up striker if huntelaar leaves, and i dont mean pippo. and who knows he could be good.
another player i would really love for us to snatch up is eden Hazard or Alexis Sanchez.

Dzeko, Misimovic and Grafite are asking to break the contract with Wolszburg (Pandev case anyone). Maybe Wolfz will be smarter than Lazio and will decreases their demands for Dzeko around 30 mil which is fair. Maybe than we can take him, cuz it clear that he will chose Milan over anyone if we agree with the club.

I agree, I think so far our transfer campaign has been better than recent years. However, if we're not talking about other new players by the end of August, then this mercato will still be a disappointment.
Babel is an option, a decent player whose career has stalled at Liverpool. I wouldn't mind him if we got him, but I don't see him as someone we need.
Hazard is probably out of our price range tbh, he's very highly rated and a player many big clubs are looking at, so whoever gets him must be prepared to spend.
Sanchez is really talented too, but as with Babel I don't see him as a necessity for Milan tbh.
You're right.
With a little help I counted the money spent the last 7-8 years and it was somewhere around 267 mil.
just a couple of days ago Berlu said he had spent 461 mil the last 7 years, and that milan was the only team in italy to do that (spend so much).
bs since merda (450 mil) and jube (309 mil) have spent more than us the last 7-8 years.

The scum I mean Liverpool bought Babel for 12 million 3 years ago , his Value is now at 8 maybe 9 Hunter is Valued at 13 - 15 so Babel + 5 million i'd take nothing less but the Pool/Scum will only offer a straight swap. Also push for Caceres and Hleb on loan .WE NEED DEPTH
what i find weird. We're heavily linked with both podolski and babel.... both LEFT forwards

Where did you hear about Dzeko asking to break his contract? You sure it's not just a transfer request?
First: fLame - <our knowledge ( at least what you show in here ) is on a very limited and below standard level. Jokes are on the level of 12 year old kids in school. Things you say simply have no connection with football or with anything at all, and it keeps going on and on. Never mind it, but for once I'd love if you come in here and write your oppinion about some player/formation/coach and then explained it in details ( how come, why, etc. ).
It was all "bla bla bla" until the bold part. My replies to other members are usually football related, it's just that when I reply to you sometimes I can't take your posts seriously.:dconf:
Anyway, if you are genuinely interested - I have no clue what to expect from this season.
1. We have signed an unproven coach (most likely not because he is a promising great tactician but because he won't demand much and we can make a scape goat out of him if all goes wrong)
2. 99% of all transfer rumours are jokes - these days we don't sign stars anymore, and if we do want to sign someone, we do it quickly. So, there's not point discussing that.
As far as I am concerned, so far we are anywhere between a mid table team to a top 3 team - depending on what squad Allegri has at the start of the season. (also depending on the injuries, etc)
I will have more to say, once our transfer season is over (though it might already be over). :haha:

i think you mis interpreted it. He said he spent 467 mil out of pocket. Meaning on some level the operating budget is higher than actual revenues earned... at a tune of 70 mil a year.
There can be MANY factors, transfer fees, uncollected transfer fees (as far as i know we never got paid for oliviera and are taking zaragoza to sporting court).
Excessive wages, not getting paid by your vendors but you must make pay roll weekly.
It's a lot more complicated than just transfer fees and wage bill. And i don't doubt there was lots of frivelous spending. All Braida's trips to brazil with NO RESULT. Constant eating out, and excessive celebrations, who pays for that????
Milan are poorly run and imo it falls much more on galliani as CEO than anyone. It's speculation sure but from my understanding of how milan works and my understanding how corporations work, it makes sense. Simply put the business model of AC Milan does not work. They need to re-do EVERYTHING. They can't extent everyone, and need to make tough financial decisions... they need to be proactive in scouting and market. Things that haven't been done by milan EVER
edit: And i'm sure milan lab and insurance sucked a fair amount. God knows how many injuries milan has had by keeping overpaid pensioners for years...

I don't think we are having a successful transfer season at all. Of course if you think no major players departure means successful then I guess u had been listening to B&G too much.
Getting Amelia for loan is stupid as he won't end up in Milan for free is he Milan wants to sign him The following season also Stoari is a better keeper at this time, on top of that Boruc went to Viola for 1.5mil, who is a much better keeper than Amelia.
Getting someone like Yepes is a joke even if he manages to put in solid performance since Juve got Bonucci for like 7mil while Inter got Racchania for about the same amount. They won't be the Nesta or Canna but they are sure to be the heart of IT defense along with Chellini.
Papa is a solid player and it is a good signing but I would rather have the young duo I mentioned and Santacroce instead.

Im not liking the extension of Zambro extension or Oddo or Pippo this summer. Its the fact we thought that there would be some forced changes and now slowly 1 by 1 they are being extended Oddo's seems to make sense but it still doesn't hide the fact that he will be here for 2 more year's so MGT won't entertain the thought of having to replace him until 2012 when he will be 36.Also Zambro honestly has been rubbish since he came he has lost a bit of pace obviously as he's not 25 anymore , but he will also be here until he is almost 36 and until 2012 is that our new year for change ????? the Abbiatti extension is fine he's a keeper and a good one at that. But I do expect Ambro to be extended again and Seedorf and Janku and Kaladze in the next few months.
It annoy's me when people and pundits make fun of the age of Milan players and call it a retirement home. But I honestly have no argument the youth gets let go on loan or co-ownership and that always bits un in the ass.I really thought after last summer losing Kaka Gorky Carlo Maldini with none of them being replaced not even attempted to be replaced and Silva wasn't and isn't a replacement for Maldini they tried to get Paolo to stay.
But after a fairly mediocure season where any team regardless of quality that had a bit not even alot of pace troubled us and when we were BATTERED by Inter and Man Utd lost to Inter again lost to Palermo at home Roma it was a season full of disappointment and we only finished 3rd due to a pretty good run in November and again in Feb/March.
We know the way they work and there is nothing about Zambro's being spread like Oddo's.It just really disappoints me that the average of the team was a running joke 2 years ago and we have practically the same squad 90% the same starting team but even older.WHAT IN THE NAME OF GOD ARE MGT DOING HOW DO WE HAVE LESS MONEY AND LESS OF A PLAN THAN PALERMO SAMPDORIA NAPOLI GENOA FIORENTINA ITS RE-FU-CKING-DICULOUS.

I was baffled at why Dzeko signed that extension last year. The only thing that made sense was the reported 20 million euro buyout clause, which obviously was a false report (even though Dzeko had it posted on his own website). He could have waited and come to Milan -- where he was claiming to be so desperate to play -- on a free transfer this summer and not had to do anything like this. It was a stupid move if playing for Milan is really such a dream.
Right now he's being linked heavily to Juventus. I hope and pray that doesn't happen.

I'm pretty sure Zambro got the same deal as Oddo, and it's being spread over the years. Same with Pippo I think. This means that the extensions aren't really affecting the budget overall, but make it look less per year, and we get an extra player for a year. I think it makes sense, in a twisted sort of way.
What I don't get is why the players agree to this? They can just play the last year, make the full amount, be out of contract at the end and find another club and a new contract. How is what they're doing now better? Make less but play for Milan?

I think it's some kind of showing gratitude to Wolfsburg for making him a player he is now. By extending the contract the club will get much more money if they decide to sell Dzeko, instead of none if he just see out his remaining contract. Now that it's done there's nothing much he can do about it and Wolfsburg can put any ridiculous price tag they like on him because they have the right to do so. Whether it's some kind of naivety on Dzeko's part or/and some kind of wickedness on Wolfsburg, you decide.
Whatever it is, it's totally different with Pandev-Lotito's saga. Pandev was on his last year and his desired salary for the next contract was rejected. Lotito then freezed him out. He even stubbornly, if stupidly, refused some quite lucrative offer from other clubs (Donetsk?). That way he just ensured his club would receive zero money, six months sooner than he must've expected. Dzeko, on the other hand, did sign a contract extension. At most he can ask to be put on the transfer list, but NOT to nullify the contract.

I wouldn't think Dzeko is able or would be willing to push for his contract to be rescinded Dzeko didn't just resign his contract with Wolfsburg to get a pay rise he must by now love the fans of the club and the club itself, as for voiding his contract well it depends on what terms are stipulated in the contract but i can't really see wolfsburg agreeing to a clause that allowed him to walk for free without some exceptional circumstances like the aforementioned pandev who was screwed over by managerial politics.
What Dzeko can do is weaken Wolfsburg bargaining position by some carefully released statements and rejecting the clubs attempt to make him stay the affect being a decrease in his transfer value but at best it would be a couple million euros.

I honestly hope that's true. He signed his contract. Wolfsburg was asking way, way too much for him (certainly more than Milan would be willing to pay at this time and more than they or anyone else should pay, in my opinion, although that was probably the point). If he seriously loves Milan and it's his dream to play there, let him move on a free transfer in 2013 -- he'll still be only 27 -- or at a more reasonable price in 2012. If he wants to go someplace else, that's fine too (as long as it isn't Juve or Inter).
Too bad for Dzeko, man is in love with Milan as much as we are. Maybe some day he'll wear our shirt and finish off Derby di Milano!:p017:
Untill then, new 1000 comical efforts by Borri and 6 world class volleys...
I actually love that Dzeko is staying at Wolfsburg, I think we'll finally move for him next year when we get rid of players whose contract expires and their salaries...

I really don't understand some people's logic when it comes to the Dzeko case.... I'm confused. The dude is not staying there, he's leaving for sure. Leaving to where? I don't know, but we all know his preference.
Mediaset keeps reporting that Hunter will be sold and Milan have lowered their demands to 12.5million (knowing Galliani, that would be sac-religious to him). As soon as he's sold, Milan will 'shock the market' with a signing.
Silly season Warro calls it. Silly season.
****ing management
How do you know Dzeko is leaving for sure? He says he only wants to go to Milan. Milan can't afford him. Wolfsburg says they won't accept any offer. Doesn't sound like a sure thing to me.
By the way, RossoneriBlog is reporting that the Galaxy are offering Landon Donovan for Ronaldinho. I'm wondering where they dug that one up.

On today's market, spending right money means actually spending money and gambling on players.
I am not just talking about transfer fees, but also the overall spending of the club.
What puzzles me the most is how Milan is always a Top Ten Clubs in terms of revenue but manage to sell its star to balance the book. Thats to me is a poorly run club. Clubs like Chelsea and Real are in debt b/c they over spent in transfer fee, can't fault on MGT as they knew they would be in debt. While Man U and Pool are in debt b/c they need to pay interest for Bank Loan(due to owner), can't fault the MGT again as they can't control how the owner finance the club. While I really don't see how Milan can be in debt if it was not for the mismanagement of giving out huge contracts to players who can't perform during the contractual terms. Oddo old contract was 4M after tax, which means about 7.8M before tax. If Oddo actually performs or at least a regular squad player, then thats justify but he is not and in reality far from it. Kala is another one and the list goes on and on. Now I am not sure if Berlu was the one who gave the go ahead on these contracts or was Galliani at fault, but whatever the case, they were just stupid.
At the current state of the game, I think players(esp attackers) as well as positions that required constant movement(FB, Mid and Wingers) will hit their peak at 29-30 and will began their downfall a year after that. Ofcourse there will always be exception, like Drogba, Nedved, Totti and Giggs.
To sums up, I think Milan should just stop getting players over 30, even if they are free like Yepes and just start getting quality youngsters even if he costs 25mil, as long as he is talented, can actually run(unlike Pirlo and Seedorf), and fits the Milan formation(unlike how Diego and Melo with Juve). That way the risk for those players to fail is less.
So we have offer's for 2 of our player's and a third is imminent...Even worse than and more ridiculous than any of our supposed links , offer 1 Landon Donovan swap for Ronaldinho yes the 2 time world player of the year is only worth as much as the guy with the worlds biggest forehead.

How often do these swap deals that are always reported in the press actually materialize? I always take them not with a grain of salt, but with a bag full.
Landon Donovan is better than you think. He's better than Beckham. Ask either Arsenal or Manchester United if his pace and creativity didn't give them fits when he was playing for Everton. And he's just as good playing as a trequartista as he is on the wing. So I hardly think it's fair to dismiss him as "the guy with the world's biggest forehead." He actually wouldn't be a bad acquisition for Milan as he could fit very well into either a 4-3-1-2 or a 4-3-3. But I think he'd rather go back to England than to play in Italy.
Funny, but last summer most of you would have traded "Fat Ronnie" for a used pair of Adidas. Most of you were desperate to get rid of him and considered him nothing more than excess baggage. Suddenly his being a two-time World Player of the Year is relevant again. :D
Huntelaar could go out on loan. It's unlikely, but I wouldn't discount the possibility completely. But it would only happen if Milan got another player on loan to replace him. For instance, if Robinho came on loan from Manchester City, I could see Huntelaar being loaned in the hopes that regular playing time might increase his market value.

I didnt say it would happen and he will not score 14 goals and create 15 no way no way.He is a good player not great and no replacement for Ronaldinho he was only okay with Everton usual performance from him he isnt a game changer. And his forehead is ridiculously huge.
Abbiati, Oddo and Zambrotta's contract extensions do not surprise me. They're Italian and in Oddo's case, more importantly, he's home grown. It might be cynical to think this is the main reason, but it's definitely a factor.
I'd still make a move for Krasic, he's there to be snapped up!

----------------Abbiati------------------
Sokra-------Nesta----T.Silva----Antonini
------- --Flamini---------Pirlo-----------
----------------Hernanes--------------
-----krasic-------------------Dinho-----
-----------------Pato------------------
I truly believe that this team can compete for Scudetto and CL without any problem. But don`t know the NON EU rule is still unclear, but I believe that it doesn`t allow both hernanes and Krasic.Maybe Lazzari can fill this place nicely.. there has to be a reason why Allegri is so fond of him.

Damn, I don't understand anything anymore: a price of 10M is apparently given to Dinho, but then we want to keep him and he also wants to stay (all these rumours were only BS ?). Huntelaar should go at the same price he came, but finally, he could leave for 12.5M instead of 15M. Gattuso could also leave, but we would only ask for 2M.
Well, let's give our players for free, that will be the same, because even with this money, we won't get proper replacements for these players (yes, by selling Gattuso 2M, a useless Gattuso nowadays, well, we won't get a better player, even the contrary ...).

As far as I know, if the player wants to leave, the club must let him, I know there are some regulations at UEFA regarding that, but I don't know the exact rule.
@ kastriot
I like your team, but that will not happen. It seems we've totally gave up on Hernanes since Leo left. I don't remember when he was linked with us lately.
Also, I think Allegri wants to use Lazzari in his team.
The greatest question mark for me stays above Ronaldinho and his position in the team. Ronaldinho is staying and that's obvious right now.
But, it will take a REAL tactical magic from Allegri to play Ronaldinho in AM position (if he's going to play 4-3-1-2 and he will).
On the other hand, reading Berlusconi's comments about "Ronaldinho playing closer to goal" and taking his proven inability to play AM into account, especially in a system in which AM must chase and track back, I think Allegri thinks of an option to play Ronaldinho as SS, with Pato as CF, like attacking duo, and real AM behind them. That player, Hleb perhaps or whoever, will be our only significant signing beside Lazzari I think. I must say I would be excited to see how it would work, because Ronaldinho would be at the perfect position for himself, and Pato's lack of strength is not an issue here because Allegri plays fast and all-moving football.

Excellent I'll take it ,but yeah Krasic and Hernanes maybe a no go...But even with Lazzari its alot better than last year.
isn`t it very frustrating when you know that 25 mil can make a highly competitive team, and mgm refuses to spend that much!!!!!!!!!
Don`t forget guys we are still to spend a single euro. Plus we have huge cut at our wage budget. Dida and Favalli are around 6 mil a year also we have spread the contract of Abbiati, Oddo and Zambro. Plus Dinho`s wage surely will be cut 2 mil(his brother confirmed that he will sign new deal).
So what we wont from mgm is around 15 mil extra spending plus the new wage structure should allow us around 10 mil. which is enough to make us competitive.
I don`t think Milan fans can be more humble than this.or can we!??

I read somewhere that there was an agreement between Dzeko and his former coach/former management team of Wolfsburg when he signed his contract (to let him leave this year). But all these people are not in the club anymore and as a consequence, for them, there is no agreement, just a contract signed by a player.
And whatever could have been agreed, signing a new contract by knowing he would ask to leave one year later is a mistake by the player, nothing else, he just gave more power to the club to decide his future. He has to assume that now (maybe he will manage to leave at the end, but if they keep him, I'll just say "well done Wolfsburg", seriously, because as he is a professional player, he can't be bad just to be allowed to leave, he will be put in the reserve if he does that, and he could break his career, so Wolfsburg has all the cards in hand ...).

Or he can repeat a "Pandev". The exact thing happened to him and he managed to win the case against Lazio in the sports court.

Pandev made a transfer request. Offers around 15 mil were coming in, refused by Lotito who was asking for 20 + mil. Nobody paid that money, as a consequence Pandev threatened that he will not be happy and won`t be able to play at the same level. He was benched and later sent to train with the second team. He took his case to court and won.
To me it is exactly the same case. unless I misunderstood the whole case.

Pandev only had a year left on his contract asked for a transfer and Lotito refused didn't accept any offers unless they were higher than his value and left in january when he won his case ,he only 5 months left on his contract Dzeko has 3 years...correct me if im wrong.

Well, actually, Pandev didn't want to sign any new contract. He wanted to leave, Lazio wanted to keep him, and his contract was going to end the year after. Then he was put in the reserve and the problems started for Lazio (because it was stated that he was put in the reserve as a punishment for not signing a new contract, which can't be done).
In the case of Dzeko, he signed that new contract ... IMO, that's a huge difference. You can't want to leave and sign a better contract at the same time, you can't win on all tables. If he hadn't signed this contract, and if as a consequence, Wolfsburg had put him in the reserve, then he could have left for free by breaking his contract, but like he signed that new contract, a court can't state that the player really wants to leave, he will even lose if that goes in courts as they will probably state that he had an unprofessional behaviour and he could be punished.

EXCLUSIVE: Milan 'Very Close' To Signing Japan Star Keisuke Honda From CSKA Moscow
Italians confident of deal between €13-15m for in-demand forward
AC Milan are close to securing the signing of Japan's World Cup sensation, Keisuke Honda, from CSKA Moscow, Goal.com can reveal.
The Italian giants made an offer of £10.9m (€13m) on Thursday, to which the Russian club responded requesting an increased bid of £12.5m (€15m), and now sources from within the Rossoneri are confident of securing the Japanese star's signature imminently.
"We are very close to signing Honda, the clubs are very close to finding an agreement," said the source. "[Milan coach Massimiliano] Allegri likes him a lot and wants to see him playing alongside [Alexandre] Pato and Ronaldinho."
Honda, 24, has been the subject of widespread attention and admiration for his impressive performances for CSKA Moscow in the 2009-10 Champions League, followed by a superb World Cup campaign for Japan, in which he scored two eye-catching goals.
The forward - who can play as a striker or in a slightly deeper position, and is best known for his lethal left foot - has been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool, Birmingham City, Everton, Atletico Madrid, Deportiva La Coruna and Valencia, among others.

No way CSKA will want to lose both Krasic and Honda, they'll keep one of them which means if we do get Honda then Krasic stays (not going to Juve). And if this source is reliable, then with just 2M difference the agreement seems not too far.

Why would CSKA wants to sell Honda for 15mil since they paid 9mil for him 6 months ago and plenty of clubs would pay 20mil for him.
Anyway, at least it is a good rumor, have not have that for a long time.
As for Dezko being another Pandev. I really doubt that would happen, as I thought the court only allowed Pandev to buy out his own contract mainly due to he was in his last year of the contract. While Dzeko still has 3 years left. Beside, despite reading Dzeko only wants Milan.....other teams could have just jump In and sign someone like Dzeko for free.

Honda, Krasic, Dzeko, Hernanes, Jucilei
Personally -- I prefer Dzeko or Jucilei. I do like Honda too. Krasic not so much. I also think the Honda think is a rumour and we will not be going for him solely because he is Non-EU. I think we will go for Dzeko in August. Let's see what will happen.

Honda this year, and agreeing with Wolfsburg during this summer to get Dzeko at the start of the next summer mercato.
Honda, Hernanes or Jucilei are more important for us right now than Dzeko (if we keep Huntelaar).
Next year, Inzaghi will surely stop, so we will only have Pato, Borriello and Huntelaar, so I'd say that the worse one should be sold to welcome Dzeko and call back Paloschi.
Many of you here puts Papastathopoulos in the first 11 of Milan squad.

Sokratis just said it in the press conference: he will play wherever the coach says him to play, but he is better as a CD.
Abbiati
Abate - Nesta - T.Silva - Antonini
Flamini
Ambrosini - Pirlo
Ronaldinho
Pato - Borriello
Abbiati
Abate - Nesta - T.Silva - Antonini
Flamini
Ambrosini - ??
Pirlo
Pato - Borriello
It's some possible formations, but we'll need to wait the first friendly games to know what are the plans of Allegri.
If one of our CD gets an injury or is in bad form, Sokratis should be their direct replacement, followed by Yepes (what I like is that these players said that they would fight to get their chances, so there will surely be some competition between our players and that will force everyone to play at his best, because last season, even if a bit injured or in bad form, Nesta and T.Silva were sent on the pitch not to play with Kaladze for example).
EDIT (again): http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/milan/?action=read&idnet=bWlsYW5uZXdzLml0LTMwNDY0
Marchetti saying that for him, it's Abbiati who should be the #1 GK for the NT during the injury of Buffon. I don't know if it's a lack of ambition, a lack of confidence, or just some realistic point of view about himself and some fair-play (I don't know a lot of players saying "this one should play instead of me in NT").
Honda for me, we deeply need an ACM. He is a real upgrade for Seedorf when Borri could do a fine job along side Pato.
I don't know much about Jucilei and Hernanes, so the Japan is my choice for now :D

You are right, the lack of signings has caused everybody to hail our new Greek signing as a savior. Unfortunately, he isn't and he is only going to be a squad player. Abate (who is the dumbest football player alive) is just a terrible player in my books and he only has speed. I think Allegri will push Abate forward and use him somewhere there. We also will have Sokratis, Zambro and Oddo playing for RB. None of them is good enough for Milan to be a good enough RB for a formation like Allegris. Neither of those can offer offense and defense at the same time.
Plus I dont understand the need for Bonera anymore. He was good, but now we have Silva/Nesta starting. If they get injured, we have Yepes and Sokratis ready to step in, let alone Onyewu and Kaladze. I think we could sell Bonera to Napoli, Genoa or Fiorentina for about 3-4 million. He's definitely not a bad player.

Imo, I'd like to spend the non-EU spot on either Dzeko or Jucilei this summer. If we get Dzeko, then I'd still want us to try for Asamoah of Udinese. It would be amazing if we could secure Ganso for next summer (I don't think he'll leave Brazil this summer).

If we want to fill the holes in fullback, CM, sub (or competitor) for Dinho, and striker (we need 2 strikers in Allegri's scheme) the seemingly available opportunities are:
- FB: Kolarov or somebody else from Serie A or some Real Madrid reject or I can't think else
- CM: Honda, Jucilei
- AM: Honda, Lazzari, VDV, Oezil (unlikely, but since he's 15M...)
- ST: Ibra, Dzeko, Fabiano
We don't need Krasic in this formation, Hernanes is no longer an alternative, Jucilei is too young. So I will pick Honda or Dzeko, but we have Huntelaar-Pato-Borriello and Inzaghi (for one year at least) already, while Pirlo-Flamini-Seedorf/Ambro isn't really convincing for a season long... so Honda got my vote.
Things will be different if we can do (Hunter+money)/Dzeko swap.

I really hope Dzeko is not such a cry-baby that he will play bad if he has to honour a contract he agreed upon and signed last year. If someone did that to Milan I would hate him for it. Hopefully it's just paper-talk.
I would be surprised if there is a regulation saying a club must let a player leave if he wants to. What's a contract worth then? Who should decide the transfer fee?

I think they should make a new rule: forcing clubs and players to agree on a transfer fee when they sign a contract (I think it's like that in Spain, I mean, there is an option, if they do that everywhere ...). This way, no more problems !!

I've heard about that kind of buy out clauses in Spain, and they are usually very high so in many cases it's practically the same as if no fee has been agreed because no clubs can afford it anyway. Real Madrid bought Sergio Canales and he has such a clause in his contract and it's worth 150 million Euros...
And also, agreeing on a sensible fee before you know if a player has succeeded or not would be very difficult. The agreed fee would at least never be lower than what the club bought the player for...

All players don't accept these useless clauses, some contracts have 5M...30M clauses that are more realistic. It's the work of the agents to check that. Like all clauses of a contract, it can be discussed. Of course, a guy like Messi doesn't care about remaining in Barcelona for 10 more years and as a consequence, he can put this kind of clause in his contract. We could have done the same thing with Maldini for example.
We could go further: they could make this rule of forcing clubs and players to put a buy-out clause, and also put a limit (for example, 40M). This way, no more inflated prices in football and all prices will probably even decrease in long term.

there are ways to get another Non EU player, im sure in the past i have heard about smaller teams buying non eu players, and sell them to the bigger clubs.

A note: Lazzari is AM, but his position in Cagliari last season was LCM. Allegri uses him deeper because he can play long balls. But he's very versatile, so in one moment in the game he can be DM, CM, or AM. He was very important for Allegri last year, so I'm sure Allegri will take him.
Regarding Santon, I would love him here, but it's unlikely. It could be possible if Benitez doesn't have him in his plans.

i think we are doing very well if we pull off honda and Lazzari in terms of transfers. that would only leave a striker to get.
as i see we got a gk first Ameilia
then defenders with Papa, and Yepes(technically we got him first)
midfielders netxt then a striker.

If I remember correctly, yes, Lazzari's natural position is everywhere at left flank: wingback, midfielder, winger. He's very versatile, yes. Non-EU, Italian, Serie-A established player, cheap, Allegri's favourite, all yes. Even with B&G at helm I know no reason why Lazzari won't join us.

Argh $h!t. He is the only Inter player I like.
And yet our fullback problem, the most annoying of all our problems, is far from solved. Sokratis, as some people said here, is NOT a fullback YET. He will make better of his potentials by deputising Thiago Silva. Abate, Antonini, Oddo, Zambrotta... well, what can I say? I'd like us to go after Kolarov, something which, in ideal world, we would have done 1 or 2 years ago because of our good friendship with Lazio.

Report: Genoa sign Veloso
Friday 23 July, 2010
Genoa have pulled off another coup with the signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 24-year-old joins fellow Portugal international team-mate Eduardo and Luca Toni among Genoa's new arrivals this summer.
Milan and Fiorentina were also interested in Veloso, but Genoa persevered even when it looked like the player himself wasn't convinced by the project at Marassi.
La Gazzetta understands Veloso will sign for €6.5m plus Alberto Zapater in exchange. He will pen a four-year contract with the Grifone.
Genoa are also understood to have beaten Napoli to the signing of Hoffenheim midfielder Franco Zuculini.
He looks set to arrive on loan until the end of next season when they'll have the right to buy him for €6.5m.
lucky for us we are close to genoa, so if he plays well, we can maybe sign him
unfortunate for us so Inter is also close to genoa.

inzaghi,huntelaar,gattuso,r10,pirlo out
it would work out.. we should REALLY cash in on pirlo and r10 though while there still worth something..

Let's say Milan are unable to sign any more players this summer....I don't think this is true...still got more than a month to go but let's assume that happens. Here is one suggestion for a formation. Thoughts?
-------------AMELIA-------------
----PAPA-----NESTA-----SILVA----
-------------FLAMINI--------------
ABATE--------PIRLO------ANTONINI
-----------RONALDINHO------------
-----PATO----------HUNTELAAR-----
Barca-style formation!

Arjun: I have been wanting Milan to play that since 2005... It can work great but without Abate and Antonini both there, both are inexperienced and not good enough for responsible roles such as those in that formation.
I also don't think Huntelaar deserves a starting spot let alone a place in the squad.
I would put Zambro (Abate) and Antonini (Jankulovski) on the flanks. I would also have Borriello or Inzaghi partner Pato upfront. I also would play Abbiati instead of Amelia. But I do like the Flamini/Pirlo combo in that position.
He isnt 28 no more he's 34.
I'm not talking about 2004. I'm talking about 2007. Oddo was supposed to be -- according to many Milan fans -- the replacement for Cafu. A year later he was dog meat and the same ones who had been begging for him were yelling to get rid of him. :hah2:

Sokratis just said it in the press conference: he will play wherever the coach says him to play, but he is better as a CD.
That guy from the day he signed with Milan is making his dream true, joining a legendary team.Like Sotiris Kirgiakos, also a Greek DC who last year joined Liverpool.
Im 100% sure whoever of his football-level was in his case, the same answear would have given.

Can our members from Ukraine and eastern europe give us an idea of what kind of player Ilsinho is?
Ilsinho is a 25 year old Brazilian that was very highly rated 5 years ago when we were linked with him. He was likened alot to Cafu and was very close to joining us.
Good news is, he fullfills everything we are looking for:
- 25 years old
- Brazilian..... and Italian passport
- Speedy right back
- FREE
Can someone let us know why did Shakhtar release him on a free, and let us know how good is he really? I know that he was important for them when they won the Europa League in 2009.

Guys, at that time, Oddo was the best RB of Serie A. He was great in Lazio (their captain too, their FK and corner taker). He suddenly became good in Milan instead of great, at least during his first 6 months, which was enough to help us in CL. Then, it's been a completely different story ... The guy's lost it, unable to cross (and 6 months earlier, he was taking FK and corners !!), worse and worse in defence, he's now what we know he is.
But back in 2007, it was a good move, a good short-term move.

Krasic: "I have decided that I will stay in CSKA Moscow..."
if Italy had allowed 2 non-eu players he would be in either Milan or Juve by now...but it just turns out to be that he is not just not good enough to take the precious 1 non-eu spot.... alot of people here were crazy about him but I never really saw anything special about him...consistently that is.

Ok let's get this straight, do we have 1 NON -EU Spot or 2? in Italy, I thought it was 2. And who are the 2 that Milan has?
I'm assuming Pato and Thiago Silva are the 2.
I'm assuming Ronaldinho has Spanish citizenship...
That's a BS rule.. but anyhow, is there any possibility of getting Honda AND DZEKO.. obviously Milan Management wouldnt if they had 200 trillion in the banks...but I'm saying hypothetically is it possible to get both?? or do we have our 2 Non EU spots closed?
Look at this Team
-------------------------Abbiati---------------------------
----Sokratis----T. Silva-----Nesta-------Antonini-----
-------------------------Flamini-----------------------
---------------Pirlo-----------------Ambrosini----------
------------------------Honda--------------------------
--------------------Pato-----Dzeko---------------------
Sell Kaladze, Jankulovski, Bonera, Ronaldinho, Huntelaar
Subs: Adiyah, Pippo, Borriello, Abate, Seedorf, Verdi, Lazzari, Zambrotta, yepes, Onyewu, Amelia, Roma
Elmago99, firstly the new rule is one (not two) non EU signing per season, effective this season.
Secondly, it's subject to the NEW player (not the one we already have). And lastly players transferred from clubs within Italy don't count.
CMIIW guys..
Nalx, I think you are right.
I know its boring and 'gets old' to repeat but...we wouldn't spend the money if it wasn't 1 or 2 any way.

Precisely. And that's my point. Sometimes fans become completely infatuated with guys who don't work out. Oddo is one of many examples. Other times, fans are certain that a player sucks or has lost it or whatever and they surprise (I could count on one hand those of us who expected Ronaldinho to have a good season at this time last summer). The grass isn't always greener. But sometimes it is. Only time tells.
I found some amusement a couple of days ago in the reports that Huntelaar might go to Liverpool with Babel headed to Milan in return (and not just my usual amusement at papers twisting things or just simply making crap up). Upon the news, posters here were saying "No! No! Not Babel! He sucks!" So I visited a couple of Liverpool forums and found that a lot of Liverpool fans were saying "No! No! Not Huntelaar! He sucks!" It seems that while Liverpool fans generally aren't in love with Babel, they still think he has great potential and that he was simply misused by Rafa Benitez. They may have a point. If he remains at Liverpool, he might flourish under Hodgson. Huntelaar, if he stays, might flourish under Allegri. Or maybe a change of scenery would suit one or both of them. Fans become too quick to dismiss players who have fallen out of favor or maybe not settled at a club or in a league. And they're too quick to assume that players who have done very well elsewhere would be saviors if acquired. So it's probably best to give anyone the team thinks can help it win a chance, while not expecting too much from other players just because of their name.

Agree with you RIck, but for most players, they can only perform in certain formations while some can perform in many different formations. HUnter needs to play in a formation that consists of wingers to perform well, like ManU. Babel, I know the talents is there but due to RB constantly switching his position, I have no idea what is his best position.
A swap between them might just be what it needed for both players, then again maybe staying put for them will work too.
(I could count on one hand those of us who expected Ronaldinho to have a good season at this time last summer).

what this basically says is that we have so far "made" 9.2Mio since the mercato started by decreasing our payroll from 154.6Mio to 145.4Mio by releasing Dida & Favalli, and renewing for Oddo & Zambrotta at lower salaries. They also included Onyewu 1 yr free extension (but according to my knowledge, that will be his last yr, so this yr we will have to pay him the same salary).
Anyway, that makes 12.2Mio in savings
Yepes, Papa, & Amelia's salaries are acombined 3Mio
so that gives us a saving of 9.2Mio (yes, we got to hire 3 players & have 1Mio extra, by getting rid of Dida.... crazy!!!!)
As for the transfer market, they argue that the Storari-Papa affairs offset each other (although i though Papa cost a couple million more...), as well Mancini being returned to Inter & us getting 3 of their youngsters (which i am still not sure how that happened, as the guy was on loan in the 1st place...it must have been some clause we got to blackmail out of them to take Mancini of their payroll for the last 6 months last season) (and how great would it be if one of these 3 young guys turn out to be a Pirlo-type coup :) )
they continue to say that if we sell Hunter (15+3.5(salary)) & Gattuso (2+3.5(salary)), that's 24Mio in addition to the 9.2, that's a 33Mio with which they say we can get Dzeko.
They also argue that if we could (which i'm still hoping for) get rid of Kala & Janku, we can get another 6.4Mio (which i guess should be enough to pay Dzeko's salary)
They conclude by saying that the plan for Milan is to eventually cut down that yearly payroll to 100Mio out of which 84.6Mio will be for the core of the 1st team made of 18 players, but that will not happen by next year....and i'm not sure if it could happen at all, but it is nice to think that there could actually be some logic behind all these decisions and that there is a real plan we are following....
i know most people here will not agree with me, but i beleive that there is a financial plan for the future (but not saying that there wasn't any mistakes in the past) but i think a lot of clubs will be following along this path.

a round up in our negotiations lately: i can read that the next re-enforcement will be in midfield due to the final words from berlu that ronny will definately stay and that he is mainly an attacker so we now need a midfielder, more precisely a CMF. the names which speculate are
LUCAS BILIGA 23 years Argentinian Anderlecht skillful and productive (7/10 my rating :D)
RIO MAVUBA 26 years French Lille .. a rock like gattusso (6/10)
Keitsuke Honda 24 years japanese CSKA moskow .. just great (8/10)
the first two will cost about 8-10 mil and honda will be 2mil more but any signing of them will be great
If true, i can't believe Genoa are about to get Veloso on loan for a season and then have the option to buy him for 6.5 million, that's some bargain! Why on earth we didn't push for that i'll never know, he'd be a great addition to our squad.
Regarding non-eu spots, yes it's one new non-eu player each season. But surely if you release a player who currently holds a non-eu spot that position becomes available allowing you to fill it with someone else no?

Mavuba is one of the most underrated DM in France, probably among the best ones (like I often say, there are 150 good DM in France, it's the tradition since 1996-98), but he is a DM ... very defensive minded, do we need another player like that ? Unless we use Flamini as a CM and not a DM (I'd like to see Flamini only with defensive tasks just to see if he does as many fouls as when he tries to be everywhere), I think we should go for a more polyvalent player for the midfield.
About Flamini, Aston Villa would be interested and would offer ... 4M. What are all these low prices/offers ?! Veloso for 6.5M, Gattuso for 2M, Flamini for 4M, these players, two years ago or even last year, would have had a twice bigger value, at least.
I;d tell Villa to fck off considering they want 30 million for average player like Milner.

Well, I don't mind keeping Huntelaar at least for this year because by being used in a 2 men attack, I think he can turn to be great for us (we still didn't see the promising Huntelaar-Pato line recalling the Inzaghi-Shevchenko one of some years ago). If he's a flop again, then let's sell him.
Rossoneri Blog is saying that if Gattuso leaves Milan will buy van der Vaart.

Didn't Babel play in a more forward role when he was at Ajax? It seems this was the case, but I don't see much of the Dutch league, so I may be wrong.

Certainly if moving Huntelaar would allow Milan to bring in Dzeko or even a faster and more athletic forward such as Robinho, I'd be all for it. But considering the financial limitations and Huntelaar's past goalscoring records, I'm all for keeping him and giving him an opportunity. I'm glad you mentioned Pippo because my vision for Huntelaar when he was acquired was as a successor to Pippo in the goal-poaching role.
Right now I think the midfield needs more attention and I'd also rank bringing in another fullback as a higher priority. The forwards are more than good enough.
I;d tell Villa to fck off considering they want 30 million for average player like Milner.
I've been astonished at the figures being thrown around for Milner. I realize he wasn't at peak fitness, but Carlos Bocanegra ate him for lunch in the World Cup. He's a good player, but not a special player. But the English always overhype and overpay their own players because good English players have become increasingly rare in the Premiership.
Berlu is about to spend about 6million on a new plane as well more money on another yacht. He can spend money on these things and moan about the costs of wages etc. Hurry up and sell you crooked bastard.
VdV seems available for about 8-10M, and would ask for a 2.5-3M wage ...

Prior to Beckham and the GalCticos, Serie A had always been the no.1 league in Japan. So there might be some truth in these rumors about sponsors wanting him to play in Milan. Having said that if ManU or Real are also interested in Honda, then it is anybody guess.

Simply because it's the point of view of Honda's sponsor ... They don't care about Milan, only about the player and of course, more importantly, themselves (the firm).
We, as fans, know that Honda could be a good addition to our team and he plays in a position we need, so who cares that the sponsor of Honda doesn't really care about our needs ? :D
All I know is that it can only be an advantage to have his sponsor pushing him in Milan. And as Honda already said he likes Milan (didn't he say he was a fan ?) some months ago, except for money, I don't see why this deal couldn't be done.
Honda can play in so many positions, so he would add something for sure, and he would give us some options to replace some of our players on the pitch and would also allow us to play various formations.

Giovinco deadweight??????
seriously??? and for 3.5 for 50%??? i only assumed that the only reason that we did not pay that and get him is that Juve will not sell him to us...or at least not for that price....he would have been a huge addition to the squad....anyway, i hope he explodes at Parma...Italy certainly needs some new stars.
as for veloso, the only reason his clause is at 6.5Mio is because they included Zapater in their offer.
VDV seems to be a very good option too :)
by the way, no matter what anybody says, so far our mercato has been miles better than last year:
by now, last season, we had lost our Captain, our star player as well as his replacement (Gourcuff) and got Oddo back from Bayern.
this year we did not sell or lose any 1st team player, we got 2 very decent back-ups for the defence, as well as a free decent gk without paying anything...
it's easy to look good with last year's mercato as benchmark....but i'll take t anyway :D

And Milan managed to balance it's book
We said many times here that by doing smart moves, we could do a good mercato (compared to the previous ones) with a very limited budget ... isn't it what they're trying to do this time ? Seems they listened to us, not really with the players we all spoke about, but still, they got players ... :D

The agent of Honda denies the 13M offer reported on Internet ... he didn't deny the interest of Milan for his player, nor the interest of his player for Milan, nor the interest for the sponsors to see such a deal happen, he just denied this offer.
And it is reported that Verdi and Albertazzi (like each year) will still play with the Primavera this season.
News say Milan wants VdV from Madrid and the price is 8-10mln.. fair price, even a small one for a player that has quality and is versatile. He can play on both wings in 4-3-3, as a player in front on 2 dm's, as a seconda punta...
On tottomercato there are always good articles about our mercato by italian journalist who follow it all better then us. Its calculated that Milan would earn 30-33 mln from selling Hunter, Rino, Marek and Kaladze ( wage money included). That is a lot of money that can be invested wisely. The man who wrote it also says Galliani has 9mln to go with right now... great...
Thanx Silvio! :( :v408:
Just sell those few players we can and that is it, Rino is no longer able to give what he used to, and he sees it and is being extremely fair and great person right now! Hunter cannt do well unless its 4-4-2.
Im still waiting for Ibra or Dzeko though...

It's the problem: selling Jankulovski and Kaladze ... I think it won't be possible as they refuse everything. We should maybe give them a new contract with a 1M salary instead of the 3M they earn ? Who knows, both said that if they don't move, it's not because of money, so we could play their game and publicly offer them a new decreased contract, just to see if they're honest ...
About our formation, Allegri plays with 2 strikers a priori, so Huntelaar could be useful.
Allegri can say hatever he wants, but we dont have central AM. Please, and I know you will not :), do not say that maybe Dinho can play it, becouse since PSG he hasnt played it and will not now. Or at least he cannot do it well anymore.
The thing Id hate is that once again like last year, we start the season and 7-8 rounds we are searching for the formation.
The new super-attacking, unbalanced formation could be:
----------Pirlo--Flamini----
---Vdv-----Kawasaki----Dinho-----
------------Pato------------
:)
a midfield with flamini, seedorf, abate, vdv, honda, r80, pirlo and ambro would be pretty good. we would have alot of options and a good amount of creativity. if allegri can find a right balance between playing times with four midfield spots. also r80, vdv and honda can all play the second striker aswell which will be advantageous in substitution situations.
It seems we're going the right way :D
for two tops formation, our current forwards are enough, we just need an ACM, Van der Vaart or Honda is fine.
Waiting... Hoping... :D
The new super-attacking, unbalanced formation could be:
----------Pirlo--Flamini----
---Vdv-----Kawasaki----Dinho-----
------------Pato------------
:)
Btw who is Kawasaki?
I would try:
-----Toyota---------Mitsubishi----
--Honda----Kawasaki----Yamaha
-------------Suzuki-----------
:D :D :D

News say Milan wants VdV from Madrid and the price is 8-10mln.. fair price, even a small one for a player that has quality and is versatile. He can play on both wings in 4-3-3, as a player in front on 2 dm's, as a seconda punta...
Hopes he'd be the next Sneijder or Robben in terms of Dutch-Madrid-reject-who-explodes-in-his-new-club.
The new super-attacking, unbalanced formation could be:
----------Pirlo--Flamini----
---Vdv-----Kawasaki----Dinho-----
------------Pato------------
:)
:ilol: yeah, I know Honda and Kawasaki are both motorcycle.
I'd tend to play with a more classy team:
MV Agusta - Piaggio - Aprilia
Ducati
Gilera - Benelli
B&G in attack ... :D
With Bimota on the bench.
Can't lose with that.
technically honda is also a car, so if we were to give car names to player already here, what would r80, pato, TS, seeorf, pirlo etc be called.
Bus-----Metro---Walking
--------Boat-------
---Taxi---------Train---
The midfield is BMW ;)
Honda would be a dream for me, quality and young player, who can be great improvement for our first 11 quality, increase it much more...
in my opinion, we need a player except him, who can play 2 part of the game, a fighter, our midfield would be set with this 2 players...
Then focusing on defence and attack, Lazzari can add dept for the attack, would be nice addition, almost sure, Huntelaar will leave, i wonder who'll replace him. you know Galliani, he is a master on bringing crap, useless and very old players. maybe we can sign a player whos worse than Huntelaar to replace him...Everything is possible...
i always said that we need much better wing backs than current ones. CB's problem seems solved, with Yepes and Papa. at least it seems...
i'd say no to VDV, VDV can add dept yet Honda is different player. definetely he will add much more than VDV.

A Brazilian can... :)
As I said in the past, when we're linked to him... OVERRATED!!! He and Cafu in the same sentence is a crime, my friend. Man, I hate the press/agents and "the new..."
I will give Ilsinho skills... He's VERY skilled, tall, fast but the guy is soft. To get it straight, Ilsinho is a bigger version of Cicinho. Don't wanted him int the past, and I hope we don't get him now...
Look, long time without post here and too lazy to read 10(or more pages) I missed. So, if anyone asked something to me, sorry. Can you repeat now?
Also, can you guys educate me about this Honda guy?? Yep, I saw him at the World Cup, but I really don't get caught by World Cup performances. After every WC is the same. Several players are turned into superstars even playing average at their clubs... Back to the point, is Honda "the man" of his team? Or even a top 3? What the type of pressure he's used to face? Thanks in advance...
On a side note: Santos bought Arouca(he was loaned to Santos) today. They paid to São Paulo incredibles 3.5millions euros for 90% of his rights(the players own 10%). Incredible talent, 24yo, hard worker, HIGH character player and(I hope) future starter of Brazil NT. What a purchase by Santos...
honestly if we get honda, i wouldnt want van der vaart, though he would still be a great signing, i would prefer drenthe as he adds a different dimension, and is a little flashy. i dont mind having a flashy player, since we dont really have one. flashy adds some entertainment to the game.
I've seen Ilsinho 100 times and he is not a player for Milan or he will arrive in Milan or whatever. End.
Honda is right now overhiped becouse he had a very good WC. He played a free role behind the Cf and did very well. I do not know how he would fit in Milan, where, what are our plans with Dinho's position etc. For sure, without making SERIOUS plan and knowing the player 1005 I wouldnt spend 13-15mln on anyone except absoulte class young players. Playing in CSKA and a main role in Japan WC team is not the same as playing a strict role for a club like ac Milan. Id rather invest 15mln plus some more for D.Luis and secure our backline for the next 2 years... 8 hoping Nesta can do well... )

I haven't watched him in the league, but he's only ever played 11 games in Russia, so it's hard to say. All in all I think he's had a very fast rise to stardom, but I think he'd probably be worth it for us.

Thanks for the info, my friend... I really don't know much about Honda besides the WC. But I know a lot about "the world cup warriors" and the hype after their performances. Still remember of Kleberson...
Regarding D. Luiz, we are out of this league. It's more natural to see(from Serie A) Fiorentina or Napoli buying him than us nowadays. A shame... But what worries me(a lot) is the name of some players we are linked. Normal players without any potential, but with the so hyped Serie A experience.
To be clear, I'm not a star love... Heck, I'm against Zlatan or VDV purchase, but or "unknown players" need to have a least WC potential. What I see is a bunch of normal guys(where's the potential?!?!?!)that did nothing to elevate middle or small teams... Let's see how they perform at a pressure environment like Milan.
Plus, the pressure(and patience) by our supporters will be even harder this season...
Not gonna pretend that I'm an expert on Honda, but here's what I know.

Don't worry, my friend... It helped a lot. I just edited for space reasons.
The bold part isn't finished story, but let me concerned. The way a player perform against BIG competition is a good tool to rate him. But like you said, all team played bad... What also raised my worries about other CSKA players we were linked and hyped here...
Well, lets just hope(if he came) Honda shines red&black...

Who are these players you mention in the first paragraph I quoted ?
Our new players ? Amelia, Sokratis and Yepes ?
If yes, see it this way: Yepes >> Favalli, Sokratis >>...>> Kaladze, and Amelia isn't better than a "Dida in a good day", but he hasn't these "Dida bad day", so he will be a good GK backup.
About Honda, he's a pure talent, and during the WC, he didn't play in his position actually because if I'm not wrong, he was more a CM in CSKA than any other position. But it's what also gives a good value to the player: he can play in several roles. It's the kind of player we don't have in our midfield nowadays (maybe Pirlo who could be able to play as an AM but will he ever do it in Milan ?). Then, of course, he could fail in Italy, we don't know, we can't know, but even if he was to badly adapt to Serie A, he would still be more important for this season than Seedorf will for example, IMO.
Anyway, before hoping he can perform well here, let's hope he can come here ... :D
PS: Wow, is the Brazilian federation as bad as the French one ? They choose a NT coach and they're unable to break his contract ? They couldn't negotiate before making that public ? Very surprised because it's a weird way to start the long road leading them to the WC glory at home !!
:u56:
Where can I find recent and daily updated videos of the team in training?
http://www.youtube.com/user/Maestr021Channel#p/u/0/TdEwoqm1LD8
This has about 10min of each day since practice has started this summer. Not great, but better then nothing and better then anything else I've been able to find.
If someone has something better please post it. I enjoy watching practice sessions. Not just from Milan.
Please don't laugh at me when I said Honda has something to remind me of Kaka :D
As both are ACM with physical strength, speed, very good mid-range passing (not longrange like Pirlo, Schnejder), longshot, header. As a bonus, Honda is a very good freekick taker.
However, Honda played for teams in Japan, VVV Venlo, CSKA, which are not big clubs or have many talent teammates. When Kaka was born in Brazil where there are more gifted footballer than anywhere in the world, then he moved to Milan - best of Europe, of course, the competitive was difficult, but he also had the chance to learn and to be supported.
IMO, it is not easy to have a performance against the top teams if your team is weaker and does not have the better tactic. Yes, Maradona can do with Napoli, but since then, there were no other example.
Messi, Xavi, Ibra,... and Drogba, Terry,... were not themself against Inter, so we can't judge Honda base on that. Just information.

No, Geo... I'm talking about the names we're linked since our new coach was named. Middle teams type of players...
Regarding Sokratis, saw very little of him and for this reason never commented on his purchase. Bur heard he has some potential...Yepes I know since his days playing for Boca, and never was impressed. But to be fair, I saw great games by him last season, and as a(free) 4th option is a good deal. Amelia, I always think was overrated, but I also can't see any GK(avaliable) to take a non-EU spot. So, a Serie A(EU) keeper was the best option.
About Honda, he's a pure talent, and during the WC, he didn't play in his position actually because if I'm not wrong, he was more a CM in CSKA than any other position. I know very little about Honda as I said before, but at least you gave me a good news... Versatility. Also, like I said before, the country the guy born/play isn't a huge factor for me, since he perform against big competition. Christian post about shine against Sevilla and not against Inter let me a little concerned... But like you said, lets he come first before we talk about perform:smileani:

Geo, Brazilian Federation is in the hands of a bandit. Plus a guy knows nothing about football. Ricardo Teixeira is so arrogant, that after the talk with Muricy Ramalho, he was bragging about the new coach before talk to Fluminense. Fluminense(mad, because was the last one to know about the invite)deny the liberation. CBF could have paid the clause of liberation, but Muricy said he gave his word for the club about one more year(until 2012) of contract, and that his word has more value. As he said: "what msg I will send to my kids if I can't keep my word?!?!"... Muricy is a interesting old school character, and reminds a lot of his master Telê Santana... But a WAY more defensive:)

I am new to this forum, but I wanted to share some thoughts and to hear your opinions on them.
- Ronaldinho: We have not seen the Ronaldinho from his Barca years, but last year he came close. My fear is that selling him will have a bad impact on Pato as well. In regards to Honda coming in and essentially being counted on to replace Dinho, I am not totally against the move. I just question if it is the best move.
- Pato: I believe in my heart that if Pato stays healthy next year, he will score at least 25 goals. Besides health, I think he's got to have two other things: 1) a guy to feed him the ball (like Dinho) and 2) a full time job as a striker. Pato on the wing, in my opinion, is a waste.
- Abbiati/Amelia: Really? This is the future of Milan in goal? I am worried.
- Boriello: Marco has shown himself to be a capable striker over the past two years, but not many seem to be convinced that he will be an important part of our future. However, provided that Pato will be the star we have waited for him to be, would you object 15 goals from Marco?
Also, I have a question about Strasser. Will we see more of him? What are your thoughts on his future? Another young guy I'd like to know more about is Adiyiah.
Welcome to MM. My thoughts:
Ronaldinho's stay will be first and foremost about what Berlusconi and he himself wants. Either way we will have to live with it if he is here and plays poorly.
Pato, like everybody else really, will thrive with better service. We will have to see how Allegri wants him to play. Ronaldinho alone or Honda alone is not going to be enough. Especially since I don't believe Pirlo has much left and fullbacks providing crosses/service is still a huge question mark.
I am not worried in goal, for now. Future, all positions are questionable.
Personally I don't rate Bori that highly but he will get his share of goals I am pretty sure.
Regarding youth, another thing we have to wait and see. How serious is the management with the youth movement and how the coach sees the ones we have.

Glad to have you on board Sheva.
A few thoughts on your comments:
Ronaldinho -- I'm okay with Ronaldinho staying or going, providing that if he stays he continues to have a commitment to being fit and playing with joy. But his contract runs out next year anyway and I'm not sure it would be wise to extend him much beyond that, so if Milan can get a decent fee I think moving him would be fine too. I don't see Honda necessarily as a direct replacement for Ronaldinho, although he certainly could be. But Honda is very versatile and could fill a number of positions. Also, he's very young and dynamic, which is the sort of player Milan could use in the midfield, and he can play box-to-box.
Pato: I agree with you. I think he's poised to have a great year in Allegri's preferred 4-3-1-2 formation.
Abiatti/Amelia: The future? No. But solid and good enough for the time being.
Borriello: I'd love to see 15 goals from him, but I also think he does a lot of other things during the game that helps the team. I've always liked him.
Hard to say about Strasser or any of the young guys. Time will tell. :uhm:

Honda is probably the biggest talent coming out of Asian due to his size, skill and his work rate. To me signing him is a great move as he is as close to a modern footballer as it gets. Like Geo said he is very versatile and can still perform out of his natural position-AM. If you want ref of who he could be barring any injuries, I think the worse he could ever become is a more skillful Park Ji Sung, which is not too bad.
About this year transfer, At this point I still think it sucks. Yepes is not needed if they knew they were going to sign Papa. Unless they are planning to sell Bonera. As it stands now, they have 6 CBs not including Kala and any youths. Amelia at this point is not better than Stoairi. But if you are thankful for MGT not selling of it's top stars, then those BS from B and G are really working. That itself is the saddest part.

as much as i love r10 as a player we all know hes past it and he should go since were tight on money we should get rid of him while we could actually get anything.. i would say buy honda + sell r10&gattuso&janku and buy robinho&lazzari too
lazzari robinho honda..
------------------Robinho---Pato------------------------
------------------------Honda---------------------------
----Flamini------------Pirlo-------------Lazzari-----------
----Antonini-----Nesta------Silva------Papa------------- ???
if we sign 2 midfielders, in that area where Honda plays, CM or AMC, it doesnt matter, we are not effective there, with Honda's signing, we can be effective there. Figther typee midfielder who can play 2 part of the game would be nice and solve our midfield problems,
im fed up to see slow, walking and predictable midfield, since years, we had same midfield.Ambro can be a good sub, or Gattuso passed it and will leave. Flamini and Pirlo are good.Seedorf can be useful in rotation. with new player and with Honda, we would have great options.
Such as a player like Jucielei plus with Honda signing, we would have a nice midfield. Jucilei, Honda, Flamini and Pirlo, as reserves, there are Ambro and Seedorf.
H As it stands now, they have 6 CBs not including Kala and any youths.
Perhaps now is a good time for the new coach to experiment with Thiago silva as a holding midfielder? what do you guys think about that?

Perhaps now is a good time for the new coach to experiment with Thiago silva as a holding midfielder? what do you guys think about that?
I was excited with that option back then, when we were linked with Mexes, but now if you put T. Silva as holding midfielder, who will play CB beside Nesta?
Anyway, it's clear Flamini is staying, he's a part of Allegri plans, so we don't have the money for classy CB and with T. Silva as holder Flamini would have to move to the bench again.
i think bijon means papa as a cb and ts as a dmc..i think that the only way we could play that is with an excellent and more than just-creative dinho..because pilro playing as a 10 means faster offensive games, due to his balls..dinho should be the one to bring the balance deeded..fla and ts cannot help a lot on possesion game, for me we need a more versatile player than TS on the medfield and a more experienced than socratis on the back, leave alone the fact that i dont trust dinho's motivation at all this time..
I'm against T.Silva as a DM/CM/... !! We managed to find a solid, promising and young (U30 :D) central defender, what we have all wanted for years, and now we have him, you want to make him play in another position ?!
Let's use T.Silva as our next big thing in defence, let's use him to build the next defence when Nesta will stop, to conclude, let's use T.Silva in his natural position.
In France, they report (one or two days after) the rumour about Milan being interested by Mavuba. They just added that the asking price would be around 6M, less than what I thought.
For this price, it could be interesting ...
If our midfield looks like that:
Flamini
Pirlo - Ambro
R80/Seedorf/New player
If Abate is finally used in midfield, and with a guy like Mavuba, we have direct replacements for both Ambro and Flamini. We still have nobody to replace Pirlo (same problem since he arrived). VdV could be this guy but if he comes, I would expect him to play as an AM. So the problem would still be there: no replacement for Pirlo. If Honda comes instead of VdV for example, it's still the same thing.
That leads me to think that Pirlo will be, again, one of the main reasons of our success or failure this season ...
PS: I watched a little of the Juventus-Lyon game, and I have to say that Diego looked like the one of Werder in this first friendly game for Juventus, he didn't look at all like the Diego we saw last season ... If Diego plays well, Juventus will play well, and as a consequence, we will have one more rival, which means we should quickly solve our problems on this mercato to be ready for the start of the season !!
Anyone have any picks from Man City's offload sheet?
It seems like they have 37 First-Teamers and 20 or so days to trim that to 25.
Seems like some good deals could be picked out from there, assuming we do buy.

As for Honda, I think he's got bags of talent, good technical skills and physical presence (rare for an Asian footballer), with a strong mentality equal to if not superior to Hidetoshi Nakata. He played well enough in the Eredivise for a CL -bound club to consider him in their starting lineup, says a lot if you ask me.
And as for not playing well against Merda, I can pretty much say the same thing for EVERY SINGLE MILAN PLAYER who played against them last season as well, home and away, no exceptions. Don't assume that because he didn't do well against a champion team when he was with an average side, that it means he won't do well against the same team when playing with 10 other world-class players.
The problem should be, do we have the world-class players to play him with. :P

But who are the players they want to get rid of ?
Because despite their unlimited (or almost compared to other teams) budget, I still think they don't have such a good team, anyway I don't see a lot of players in their team that I would like to see in a Milan shirt nowadays.
Anyone have any picks from Man City's offload sheet?
It seems like they have 37 First-Teamers and 20 or so days to trim that to 25.
Seems like some good deals could be picked out from there, assuming we do buy.

Just saw an interview with Galliani were he said our mercato is closed.... Not a good sign.
Just saw an interview with Galliani were he said our mercato is closed.... Not a good sign.
Put the whole quote ... :D
The mercato is closed: if someone leaves, someones arrives. If a "big" leaves, a "big" arrives. If a "small" leaves, a "small" arrives."
We know that Gattuso should leave: will Gattuso be considered like a "big" or like a "small" ? :D
Same case for Huntelaar if he leaves ...
And we still wait the "big signing" Berlusconi promised ... :w209:

Good thing about it is that Galliani consideres almost all our players Champions, so if anyone leaves a big player will come!
- Ronaldinho in my opinion had a more than decent season. He is one of the finest talents the world of football ever produced but even he knows that his best years have passed. On the other hand, he is still considered to be a top-class player, so i wouldn't mind selling him now at the best possible price. I believe that year by year passing, the Brazilian will cost less.
Of course, selling him without replacing him properly will be a mistake.
- Pato: The only thing that scares me about this guy is that he is so prone to continuous minor injuries. It's a bit discouraging at this young age.
Anyway, i think that he is a huge advantage for a big team like Milan, a young player who knows how to score, has enormous talent and proved that he can easily stand out in the top-class level of the game.
- Abbiati/Amelia: I think we've been through a lot worse than that my friend...
- Borrielo I rate him highly than most Milan fans, i think he's a very good striker, good enough for Milan but i am not sure about a starting spot. While he got left behind by various injuries himself, i believe that he's not getting much credit for his working rate and, mostly, for his amazing scoring technique. A couple of his last season goals brought an essence (even a light one, OK...) of Marko Van Basten to the team.
- I haven't seen Strasser myself. It remains a big Milan mystery this side of Rio Grande...

Mancini is under pressure to sell of a number of players in order to reduce his 37-man squad , This could mean the sale of striker Craig Bellamy and midfielders Nigel De Jong and Stephen Ireland, i think de jong would be good for Milan

News from Brazil(Jucilei):
Corinthians announced yesterday they changed their mind and will not sell Jucilei in this window. They only have 50% of his rights, and are planing to buy another part of the rights that is in the hands of a finance group.
They realize Jucilei probably will be in Mano Menezes Brazil NT, and will hold onto the player to sell for more money next season. Man, when we started to ask Corinthians it was only 8 millions:irritate: Max...
Now, with possibles caps to Brazil NT, EPL Clubs will have the chance to enter the race for this rare type of player, meaning we will have no chance.
On a side note, like I said several times here, you guys could see(now) Santos would have never sold Ganso for 15m to us, as the press in Europe were saying. They reject a offer(official) from Chelsea of 20 millions for Neymar. Like I said Santos, São Paulo and Internacional are hard to negotiate...
...but believe me Stephen Ireland is a piece of sh1t.
i know u r Irish and probably have watched more of him than i did, but for me, Stephen Ireland is a really good player. His passing is excellent and his technique is very good. I think he would be the perfect vice-Pirlo....i still don't know why he is not rated highly in England or by you...i wish you could explain a bit because whenever i get to watch him, he looks to be 3x the player Barry is and yet that guy is always hailed as such a talent...i don't understand that, especially that Ireland is still 23

Down to attitude and purely being insane seriously , he is from where I am from and not the same city , but same part same school , good player technically but mentally is and idiot.Ive mentioned him once before as a possible but no he isn't.And not because he refuses to play for the national team thats his decision. But he has a very even too high opinion of himself and he is a moaner almost like a child. But these are all things I know football wise he is good but he needs sorting out mentally.

i thought it was going to have sg to do with his behavior because he certainly seems to be one of the most talented Irish players i've seen
and like i said about Prince Boateng, i think if u put young players like these around some well-grounded humble stars (Pirlo, Nesta...) they can help them mature

Thats a good point maybe he'll mature and apply himself he would cost around 8 million i'd say surely within our spending , but I cannot see it happening with our mgt...not the not spending but actually buying a talented young player in a position we need that has room to improve. That isnt on the lips of everyone.
de jong, wright-phillips and robinho are who i would be interested in.

OMG, is Bruno Cesar turning to be the true leader of a 10 Brazil has not in Kaka ? The boy is impressing me even more. He will get called for the match by Mano that is for sure and hugily deserved.
Bruno Cesar is probably the best attacking Brazilian player right now. :star:
Totally new player for Corinthians, attacking midfielder in 8 games 6 goals, and each of the 6 goals was either the 1-0 lead or the winning goal.

Allegri said he's going to change the formation depending on when Pirlo is there or not ...
With Pirlo, he'll use 4-3-1-2 like yesterday. Seedorf could be a replacement for Pirlo. He said that the club knows what kind of reinforcements he needs.
Without Pirlo, he could use 4-2-3-1, and coincidence or not, the last rumours are about Ben Arfa coming on loan almost for sure.
It seems the guy has clear ideas.
PS: But I'm not for Ben Arfa in Milan ... We already have Abate who runs like a dog behind a sausage, do we need his twin in attack ?

His idea is good. Alternative tactic and formation was one of Leo weakness last season.
I wonder that 4-2-3-1 formation if the 3 will be set for forwards or midfielders and who will be the centre player in that 3.

They are getting old for football, they lack in motivation and they know that the moment they leave Milan, they are out of top-class level football. I really can't see teams like Barca or Man Utd or Liverpool or Valencia, just to name a few, lining up to sign them. Their future is uncertain, they know that once they are out, their hopes for regular football will lie in teams that are way out of Milan's standards or maybe some Greek team who are willing to spend money to impress the fans, having signed a CL winning Milan player.
Take Oddo for instance. Back in the day, he was a star in Lazio. He was even taking free kicks and corners. While playing for Milan he won the Champions League and he also won the World Cup. Not bad. But the fact is that Massimo Oddo is a 34 year old right-back (...) with his best years well behind him. There is still some room for 34 year old guys in modern football but let's not forget that Oddo's working-rate was never something to celebrate about.
People can say a lot of things about Janku but in my mind he has helped Milan a lot these last five years he plays for us. He also won the CL wearing the red-blacks and as a fan i can give him nothing but credit for refusing to play for Inter in exchange for Mancini. He said that betraying Milan is not a option, words that sound sweeter to every Milanista especially now, that Inter is so strong. He could be a real threat on the left wing, when he was in his good days but, same as a lot of our players, his best moments are behind him. He too is getting older but I don't mind having Marek on the bench, really. Also, his Super Cup goal vs Sevilla is still a beauty to watch.
I never really admired the likes of Kaladze. He was a hard working defender but i was never convinced that he was Milan material. If he ever was, now, 32 years old and being ridiculed by the Varese players under the hot July sun, we can all agree that he surely isn't. I am sure he is a good guy, he just has to find another team to play. Plus, i will always thank him for that winning goal vs Inter. I was in San Siro that night. :rock3:
These players may be so experienced it hurts but i think they just didn't adapt properly to the way modern football is changing. They are getting old and someone must pat them on the back, thank them for everything they offered wearing the Milan shirt and reveal the truth to them: "Kakha, i got the feeling we 're not in Kansas anymore..."

Lols true.. It's going to be a loan deal if it eventuates, which is good... Too risky to buy! I feel the Amelia deal was risky as well, but how risky can a GK get when he is replacing Dida?
Anyways, honda would be great and someone I WOULD invest 15 million in.

Are we sure Honda is Milan material? After a year in Venlo, a couple of good performances with CSKA and a more than decent World Cup? I am not saying he is not a good player, i just think it's a risky transfer and for some good money too. Still i wouldn't mind seeing him in red and black...
Yeah, if a club offers 10M, why not sell Dinho. 10M + 8M wage outs to get a 15M + 3M wage Honda is welcomed :D

Even Rivaldo was not Milan material. I don't think Honda could be the world class player at Milan (though there is possibility), but he has what Milan lack, movement, determination, strength, speed, longshoot, freekick, youth, and the position(s) he play is/are where we needed.
So he could be at least a very useful player, same as Ambrosini, Antonini, IMO.
goal.crap says we have signed ben arfa, but i dont see this anywhere else, so i figure it is garbage, but has anyone heard info on this?

A replacement for Ronaldinho? Who said that? And what makes you think Ronaldinho is going anywhere?
Also, considering the lack of esteem most fans seem to have for Milan's veteran players, I wouldn't think it would take much to be "Milan material" these days. :D

Barcelona Would Sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic At The Right Price - Report
Swede linked with Italy and England...
Sources from Barcelona have stated that they would be willing to sell Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic if the price was right, surging interest from Manchester City and Milan.
Ibrahimovic himself, according to elmundodeportivo, has ruled out a move to Manchester City but "would not say no to joining the Rossoneri".
Il Corriere dello Sport has mentioned that Manchester City coach Roberto Mancini has moved back in for the Swede in a bid to lure another Barcelona player to Eastlands after capturing Yaya Toure from the Catalan giants. However, with the likely arrival of Mario Balotelli from Inter, it could be unlikely that the Citizens would follow up their interest.
If City do decide to continue their pursuit, they will not be shy in shelling out the millions needed to land Ibrahimovic, while Milan however may be forced to use Brazilian defender Thiago Silva as bait for Barcelona to part company with their striker; new coach Massimiliano Allegri believes Ronaldinho would really thrive working with a big 'No. 9' striker like Ibra.
This would surely alert rivals Real Madrid, as Jose Mourinho is running out of candidates to bolster his backline.

Drenthe is bout to sign for Liverpool http://www.goal.com/en/news/12/spain/2010/07/26/2042490/real-madrid-defender-royston-drenthe-announces-imminent .Did anybody actually want him here , I like his effort and energy and would use him on the wing maybe , but Ive seen nothing with him and us.
I would have wanted him here. Actually, i've said this before too, i think he is exactly the type of player that our midfield lacks (yes i would want him here as a midfielder and not as a defender). A player that is aggressive both offensively and defensively. Not afraid to take on people and play vertical, cross...etc. We simply don't have midfielders like this right now. Our midfield is static, slow and without aggression offensively.
I don't know why we didn't try for this guy. He can be a back up as a LB as well on top of helping out in the midfield like I mentioned previously.(although i think that he isn't as convincing as a LB) We have a good relationship with Real and he wouldn't cost a lot. (probably about 7-8 mil) There is even talks that he can go on a loan with the option to buy.
I really don't know what's going on at our club. The midfield is definitely the biggest problem IMO. It has been for a couple of years now. It's way too static. Way too horizontal in the play. No penetration players. Simply slow in almost every aspect. Having a player like Drenthe can change that. And I'm not saying that it has to be him and him only, but simply a player LIKE him. Yet the problem is that we are not even looking to change things in the midfield.

i agree with you on everything you said cept for kaladze - honestly guys you have give him some credit, he had a really good season that year his brother died, cant remember the year just remember hearing it but back then he was a pretty solid defender, just a good back up though none the less.. i think what we need is a player like maicon.. if you pay attention to inters game play its all around maicon coming in with crosses etc sneijder in the middle controlling the hole play and milito upfront to score.. see inter has a bunch of good players but ther tactics are what makes them so good aswell, milito was never really anything special but a pure goalscoarer inzaghi type forward, with players like that if you have good service from the wings/mid then its not too hard to score, ex when we had kaka him and inzaghi even at inzaghis old age were a pretty good combination

Maicon is one player on a million ...
Milito has always been underrated (he was underrated, I thought it was over, but actually, despite his first excellent season during his first season in a big club, the guy seems to still be underrated) ...
Our problem isn't tactical, our problem is about the quality of our players: we're unable to keep possession, what was our force for so many years ... and like our defense has been worse and worse every year (because back in the recent past, even without possession, we were able to be dominated without conceding all the time, nowadays, when a team dominates against us, we concede, as simple as that, we're unable to defend as a team), that gives our Milan, able to be good when the main players are in a good form, but not better than a mid-table team when these players are injured or unconfident.
We need a new step in quality:
- in attack, if Pato can explode to the highest level (now that he physically matured, I read that when he arrived, he was 1.71m, now he is 1.80m), we don't need anyone, even if we couldn't refuse Dzeko if he had to come as he would add some quality to an already good part of our team.
- in midfield, we clearly need new players, no new DM, we need running players able to dribble and pass, CM or AM, we don't care, both would be needed.
- in defense, I think we did some good moves, a new starting RB, around the age of 25-26, would be fantastic because our defense would be set for some years.
So actually, without thinking about our tactics, because I have full confidence in the qualities of Allegri regarding tactics, we're just 1 player away from having again a good/very good first team, and we're 2-3 players away from having a good overall squad (first team + bench) ... It will probably be too much for this single summer mercato, it's why I think we'll be there in Serie A this season, without thinking or dreaming about a possible win (even if I actually always hope we will win this Scudetto again), but we could well be back in the top of Italy and probably Europe in 2011-2012 ...
Just think about something ... Even if I'm against T.Silva leaving, what about a swap of T.Silva with VdV and Kaka' ? Then, the possible (and probable if such a thing happened) sale of Ronaldinho could finance the purchase of a new CD ?
Just an idea after reading the article posted by Rossonero Fuego ...
PS: It would be like if we had sent Kaka' on loan to Real Madrid for 65M ... :D

how good would it be if we bought Balotelli instead of Dzeko and Ibra :D
I hope we don't sign Ben Arfa. Terribly over rated player. Oduamadi's 50% that we will eventually need to buy back has already boosted up...so we lose on this one. I would like us to try him out more this summer in friendlies to see if he can be used in the left flank. He looks better than Verdi after yesterdays game.
Glad to know we have a player like Yepes finally. Selling Bonera, Kaladze, Janku, and Oddo and gaining ~6 million and promoting youngsters to take their place in their team can't be that much worse than what we already have, right?
Geo: I think we sold Kaka knowing about his injury. We won't be getting him back. Not a bad thought, but I think we finally found a player like T.Silva, we shouldn't sell him for 2-3 years. He comes 2nd after Pato.
