Is David Luiz that good? I mean, he didn't even make it to the World Cup and was beaten by likes of Luisao and Juan, or even our Thiago Silva.

Well, Brazil has some of the best CD in the world, they have a coach who makes "weird" choices (not bad, just weird, for example, taking Grafite instead of Pato ?!), link these two statements, then just remember that David Luiz is still young, plays for Benfica and not a top club of Europe in CL, and that gives you a reason why the guy isn't called for the WC ...

If this guy was Italian, English, French, Spanish, or I don't know what other nationality, he would be a starter in the NT ...

So yes, he is good enough and is probably as good, if not better overall, as our Thiago Silva. Buying such a player would probably fix our CD line for years and would allow us to rest Nesta whenever we want.

I don't think it is that heavily. ;)
That's why I italicized the word heavily. Ah, media today...

Do we still have any realistic chance with Maggio?
When were we targeting him in the first place? I'd go for Santon instead or Cassani maybe if you want an Italian.

hmmm "a world class signing"... reminds me of Mister X who turned out to be Oliveira.. I hope they dont forget investing in smaller players like Jucilei, Marchetti etc

Oh I see. :) I misunderstood you. I thought you were emphasizing on it.

I believe that we were linked to him in summer 2008. Some fans were even dreaming of having him wear our #5 jersey to mock Inter Merda's famous "May 5". Then he went to Napoli for a much lower fee. Good job, Galliani. :yuck:

They still spend 20Mil euro's on Oliveira. For 20 Mil. we can probably get Fabiano or Robinho or someone like that, wouldn't mind that at all :)

Anyways, why do you want Marchetti??? Hasn't he had an absolutly terrible year? Haven't watched that much Cagliari, but that's what I've heard at least. Really doubt he'd be an upgrade to Abbiati or Storari.

Maybe Allegri will bring Marchetti and Astori. And one of Lazzari, Nene, Jeda, and Matri.

Wow, I just imagined... so this guy is better than one of Chiellini/Cannavaro, and one of JT/Ferdinand, and one of Puyol/Pique, and one of Gallas/Squillacci... wow, that's very great. I hope we get him.

We've had a couple of new rumours today, all of which I read on milannews.

Apparently we're discussing with Real Madrid about Drenthe (which apparently has already been denied) and Van Der Vaart.

We've also been linked to Gregory van der Wiel of Ajax. Starting out as CB, under Van Basten he moved to RB and is now one of the key players of the Ajax team. He's also a part of the Dutch squad for the world cup.

Add Luis Fabiano in the rumours of the day too.

And also some rumours about Kaka' already leaving Real Madrid (which won't happen): I don't see him leaving this club to go somewhere else than Milan, so as long as there will be rumours about him leaving Madrid, IMO, we'll be linked to these rumours.

Bonnucci apparently could be Juve's first signing under Marrotta. Great5 young player, versatile, proven in serie a. No, we dont need him. We'll talk about players untill the summer is over and Kaladze prolongs.

Galliani confirms "campioni"? My god...

Kaka' will play like hell again under Mourinho and we can expect few defensive signings that will give then needed balance. Ricky will stay in Madrid.

Im hoping for the Huntelaar - D. Luiz deal, aldough maybe we can wait after the WC as Hunter will probably play in there, maybe he does something good so his price will rise up.

Now that Leo has gone it's good to hear that we have a good connection with Rui Costa, especially since Benfica often buy some promising yet less hyped youngsters from Brasil. I know in the end it won't mean a thing if B&G don't make an offer worth considering but then again it's still a good thing to have one than none at all, eh?

IF that's true, then sad.
And you believe in them? :wallbang: and honestly, if Inter's treble combined with 5-in-a-row couldn't get Berlusconi fired up, Milan has no hope but hoping that Berlusconi passing the baton, one way or another.

It says on Football-Italia that Galli will be negotiating for Gago Guti Drehnte V.Der.Vaart Fabiano while he is in Madrid it doesnt say for some or all but i'd take them even Guti is he 34 or am I way off base.
Gago V.Der.Vaart and Drehnte would be good buy's and not what we have talked about but better than what we have also Fabiano awesome striker awesome.

In this list, I'd take only Fabiano and VdV ...

That shows anyway how weird is our management if these rumours are true: we'd take players without having our coach ?!

Depending on our formation, Drenthe could be useful as vice-Ronaldinho. For Gago, I'd say no because the guy isn't what we need nowadays. Idem for Guti, I don't want this player, I never liked him and I hope we won't get him now that he is "old" ...

Neymar just subbed out after he had not much possibilites because of Jucilei. Haha. Jucilei started as a right full back today, and he gave the asist with his cross for Bruno Cesar scoring the 2-1 for Corinthians.

Bruno Cesar is a very good player. Best player in the second 45 minutes.

I would like to ask anyone who has seen Paulo Henrique Ganso extensively what they actually think of him and whether they think he could be as great as hyped. I know we've been linked to him a couple of times of late and although I haven't seen a great deal of him, from what I have seen he does seem like a potentially very special player, most of all because of his vision.

Few footballers have the great vision, and many of them end up being key figures in football due to this ability. Zidane, Pirlo, Rui Costa and also Ronaldinho are all technically outstanding footballers, but what makes/made each one of them great through their careers was their ability to dictate play through their vision and passing. Paulo Henrique may not have the excitement of others like Neymar, but he's caught my interest more than others because he seems to have this massively important ability to see and play important passes.
The bold part of your post summarizes Ganso's game. Think about a left-footed Zidane(Look, I'm not labeling him the new Zizou)... The same type of control, passing skills, style and vision. Even that "lack of pace" in the way they move on the field.
What I want to know though, what is his game beyond this ability. Tactically is he clever (he seems it from the little I have seen)? Is he a team player and willing work for the team rather than rely on his individual ability?

If anyone who has seen a lot of him could answer my questions, I would appreciate it.
Since last season, Ganso changed a lot... and for good!

Mostly, he improved(and so much) his work rate, that I completely changed my opinion of him. Milano asked it for me some months ago here in MM, and I said Ganso wasn't ready for a Serie A. The majority of coaches would turn him into a second-forward, because they don't play with a pure #10(even with middle work rate) and 2 forwards even if their life depended on this.

Said that, Santos new coach and scheme did wonders to Ganso style. To play in a 3 man midfield where two are #10 and the holder is a former box-to-box, obligated Ganso to work hard, VERY HARD for the team to make it work... and kudos for the lad, because he really did it.

Now, I consider his work rate great, and his willingness to help the team(and teammates) deserve all the prise. Not only him, but André, Robinho and Neymar too...
Is David Luiz that good? I mean, he didn't even make it to the World Cup and was beaten by likes of Luisao and Juan, or even our Thiago Silva.Don't worry, ZB... He is THAT GOOD!!!

Don't let Dunga's choice confuses you. But to be fair, Luisão while not a W. Class CB, is a very good one, an Juan despite the fact that is injure prone, is a amazing defender.

Brazil is stacked of quality at CB position nowadays, but Dunga committed a mistake imo. The best four in Brazil right now are Alex, Lucio, David Luiz and T. Silva. I like Juan a lot too, but his injures are a risk for a World Cup.

I don't believe we can afford David Luiz price, but if Rui is really willing to help us, and wanting Huntelaar as part of payment, there's no time to lose. Sign the paper...

Dev, I have only watched one game of Ganso's, when Santo beat Gremio (?) 3-1 in Copa of Brazil. He had a quiet first half and explosive second one. I am really impressed, however, I am no expert so I can't really answer your question on his vision based on just one match, but I do like what I see - that's all I can tell you. :kiss2:

Sorry didn't see your response, thanks. You're in a similar situation to me it seems. Seen the odd match, but not enough for firm judgements.

Thanks Brasileiro, that pretty much answers my questions about him. I know he's been compared to Zidane by quite a few people, and it's understandable given his style of play.

It's ironic you mentioned him being converted to a second forward, as when I saw him, he reminded me a lot of Rivaldo too, who was a traditional playmaker, but was used just as much as a forward (playing off of the striker). However, from what I have seen, Ganso should be used as a number 10 in order to get the best out of him, but it's good to hear his workrate is high, as for me this is extremely important to get the best out of him for the team.

What I really see in Ganso is a player who could take over from Pirlo in the long run at Milan. I don't expect him to play as a deep lying playmaker as Pirlo has done for us, but he's a player who can dictate our game. I also feel he'll need to take over from Pirlo as I can't imagine how the midfield would work with both playing together.

I actually thought it was a friendly with Real errr...which was odd to say the least since we are in USA atm.

Milan win 1-0 vs Chicago Fire

Goal early in the 2nd half by Seedorf from mistake on the Fire backline.

Some things about the game...

Ronaldinho- still walking around
Pato- still thinks he can take every defender on 1 on 1 and loses it 4 out of 5 times.
Mancini- actually looked fit, came on for R80 and was running hard.
Di Gennaro- needs to be moved from Milan asap. Chicken with no head would link up better with our players then him.
Brocchi- Actually played very well as the DM, broke up tons of plays.
Blasi- looked very uncomfortable
Favalli- ready for retirement
Antonini- best matchup all game vs the forward Nsarnko or something.

Funniest thing of the match is when ODDO comes on...the announcers LOVE him. Calling him world cup hero and plays the game with such poise n such...I had a good laugh. As well as Janku, saying he can change the game when pushing forward. I think they were thinking of our guys 3-4 years ago lol.

I know its summer tour but when your on the field, your instincts take over and its time to play hard, so I don't like that excuse thats its vacation and they don't care.

Nope, actually, it's just some commercial tour before sending everyone in holidays ... but it's obvious, from the way some of the players play (Pato, Ronaldinho, and others) that they are already in holidays right now.

The only guys trying to do something are the ones who need a new contract, who hope they will stay, or coming from other clubs and wanting to show to our management that they could be worth a purchase this summer.

Can somone please, PLEASE, tell me what is Blasi doing in Milan? Which Blasi? Emanuele Blasi????

Why the tour? Money.

If the budget is 20, plus sales of Hunter, Oddo, Marek, Kala, Storari, half of Paloschi, Astori etc. It can be an ok number if Silvio helps just a bit and with some smat managing ( which will be a problem with Galliani the Milan hero!).

Maybe his super best friend Perez can give him VdV or Marcelo on one year loan with option to buy or something so Milan can patch up and invest into new players like Luiz, Ganso, Jucilei.

Silvio says if there is a chance for a great player he'll pay. Gerrard, Torres one of them will leave, go pay.

Also, noone mentions it, but we need to pray Cappello doesnt accept Inter job. If he does, we dont even need to start a season with Cappello in Inter and a huge budget for the players he needs.

TMW reports that Higuain is going to be one of the next "rejects" of Real Madrid as he will be put on the mercato ...

We should go for him without any doubt if that's true.

The guy is normally a CAM, but he played this whole year as a striker: that means he is able to adapt to new roles.

He is young, and he has an EU passport (he's Argentinian and French).

When he arrived in Europe, and when there was all this story about him going with the Argentinian NT or the French NT, he was introduced as an attacking midfielder here ... in his first year in Real, he didn't play as a striker but more in midfield (very attacking anyway).

You know, Mourinho already said that Benzema was in his plans, he wants to use him and launch his career in Real ... The possible fact that Higuain is on the mercato is probably just a consequence of that.

Last few rumours:
- Del Neri wouldn't want to keep Diego and we would be interested by him ... well, the Diego of Juventus isn't a very interesting player, but if he can turn to be again the Diego of Werder, it would be the coup of the summer.
- With Allegri probably coming (for TMW, it's already done), Lazzari would be his first former player to come here ... they say it would cost 2M to pay to Atalanta, 2M to pay to Cagliari, and our 50% of Astori to give them. If someone did see this player a lot, just give your thought about him.

IF we stop using 433 we should sell dinho and more dead weights gattuso ambro won't go because galliani berlusconi favors them so stop, i hope zambrotta is gone too i rather have antonini playing in the back anyways he has a higher workrate which is 10x more important,

I think the most important thing that we need to address now is the coach. We need to know how he would like our team to play and whether he thinks he needs some reinforcements to do that. Selling/buying players without clarifying this matter first is IMO like repeating Madrid's mistake earlier this season: Pellegrini said that he was against the selling of Robben and Sneijder and never asked for players like Kaka and Cristiano.

The deadline for Dzeko's 40 million release clause passed without anyone offering that much for him or any other offer last night at midnight.Does this mean Wolfs will be looking for more ??? I still cannot see him coming to Milan for that much Fabiano looks more realistic for us with maybe as much as 13 million getting his services this season but if Brasil do well in the world cup and he scores 6 or 7 goals that will again go up to the 18 - 20 million mark.

Higuain is a pipe dream for us (and apparently he signed an extension) I got a bit excited the other day when Gallliani said a few signings will arrive and a great one , then we names like V.D.Vaart Gago Drenthe Robinho Ibra but 3 day's later and Gallianin back from Spain and nothing it is early door's yet.But Its looking like last summer repeating itself and Favalli is still playing hopefully only for the tour.

I was fully expecting Favalli Dida Pippo Oddo Janku Kala and maybe Rino to be gone and Hunter used a make weight but they are still all hear on fat contracts - Dida and we have a huge 28 man squad , I really hope the Merda treble is eating away at Berlu's pride that was something that Milan never managed to do.

And as Nalx said first we need a coach because whoever it is needs to sit and talk about a few players he would like to bring in (if he is allowed) and about a formation a plan not the same as last year.

Normally this news would make me sick..but knowing our management, and how they operate this is no surprise to me. I actually don`t mind having him around,

He can be the substitute of Nesta, from time to time. honestly I`d prefer Canna over any other defender we have beside Nesta and T.S.

Don`t forget that Canna at 36 is younger than MAldini at 40 and Favalli at 39 (who actually was our third CD just last year.)
But this can be only a rumor, news-reporters maybe just assume that we are after him, knowing our mgm.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, this on the other hand can be a dream signing.

I would rather have any youngster instead of Cannavaro. Canna is not that good anymore at least at the club level. Even if that youngster gets roasted week in and week out, I would not mind as long as he shows promise. Youngsters do not ask for huge wages as well.

About Dzeko, I think that just means that no club is going to spend crazy amounts of money this summer ... and that's good for us.
If we have really been interested by Dzeko, we had to wait for the end of this 40M release clause to try to get him (as Wolfsburg just decided that there would be no negotiation: 40M or nothing). I feel Galliani/Berlu will come with Huntelaar and 25-30M in the next few days/weeks for Dzeko. If they refuse, we'll keep Huntelaar and will "save" money (in both cases, B&G win: they welcome the so called great player, or they keep money).
So, the fact that no club spent the 40M and that the release clause (let's be honest, we had no choice but waiting the end of this release clause as we can't pay that much) is now in the past is what will maybe allow us to have the player at the end.

About Higuain, I read that it's still in negotiations for his new contract, nothing is signed ... so I don't know. Anyway, like I said when I reported this rumour that the guy could be put on the mercato, we're absolutely not linked with him.

And about Cannavaro, I'm all against it ... nowadays, Yepes > Cannavaro in Serie A. He stated he wants Napoli but Napoli doesn't want him, he has no contract, let him go in some mid-table club, we don't need him and we're not a "second choice club". Regarding his performances this season (and last season), I even think he should retire after the WC ...

And to reply Mrki, don't worry, we can start next season as Capello won't go to Inter. He already said it few days ago and yesterday it was confirmed that he would stay at the head of the English NT, no matter the result at the WC. They would be interested by Mihajlovic or Benitez right now, but Benitez was finally confirmed in Liverpool and Mihajlovic is in talks with Fiorentina. I love how Inter seems to be unable to find a replacement for Mourinho despite their treble this season !! :D

Milan make Bale a priority

Milan are looking to sign a full-back this summer and have set their sights on Tottenham's Gareth Bale, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Rossoneri have already scouted a number of potential candidates, like Ajax's Gregory Van der Wiel, but at €15m the Dutch international costs too much.

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has since turned his attention to Bale who had a fantastic season at White Hart Lane, performing best as a winger.

La Gazzetta understands that Milan are prepared to offer Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in exchange for the Wales international who is being valued at €14m.

Milan are already making way for a new arrival at full-back by planning the sale of Massimo Oddo, possibly back to Lazio.

If their efforts to sign Bale are in vain, Galliani will inquire about Real Madrid's Brazilian Marcelo who could be surplus to requirements under Jose Mourinho despite making progress last season.
------------------------------------------------------------------

I can't believe how stupid our managemant is. Last summer when Tottenham was having a crisis, we were linked to Bale and then we could have bought him for 15M, and this year NO WAY we can get gim for that amount.

It seems like the past is repeating, since we're interested in Van der Wiel who is being valued at 15M. If we don't get him this year, next season (when he transfers to bigger club) he'll worth double...

What an idiot is running this club....

Such talented and young player will learn to defend as Serginho did in Milan, that should not be a problem.

On "milanesi sa balkana" one person is saying how italian forums are talking about Galliani helping Perez to buy D. Luiz coz Milan cannot pay for him, and Milan will get some player from Madrid. I think that's ok actually, if Diarra is a replacement for Flamini, though I'm also happy to keep Flamini who I think has the potential to be better. Oddo to Juve is like music to my ears.

Lazzari was one of the more important players in Allegri's Cagliari and is effectively an attacking midfielder. He's a decent player and I believe around 25. I also think his wikipedia page had a comment that he'd already signed for Milan in a deal for around 10m euros.

The guy talking about Ganso is FIFA agent Sabatino Durante who does deals for Santos. Ganso surely can be bought for less as he's certainly not known well enough outside of Brazil to be worth that amount. The only player in his age group who I think would be valued at a similar price would be Neymar, who's more widely known outside of Brazil.

As for other rumours of late. I simply say No to renewing Favalli, No to renewing Dida and definitely no to Cannavaro.

i cannot believe some guys here are actually considering Bale & Marcelo as LEFT BACKS!!!!
i know they are both very good going forward (i prefer Bale) but they are not good defenders....I don't think either of them can defend better than Abate did this year and although these are all young players, they are just not full back material.
But again, as somebody said, we are too late for Bale....we should have got him in Jan...
Diarra i don't like, we already have a better player in Flamini, just let the guy play
Cannavaro is a definite no...although no defender can ever produce a better 7-game serie like he did in 2006, that was the last i've seen him play well
Nobody offering 40M for Dzeko is a real shocker especially with all the hype that every team out there wanted to sign him...could there be more to that issue?

Anybody can comment on how Cardozo compares to Dzeko?

mrki
01-06-2010, 14:28
Dzeko is a better player then Cardozo in my oppinion. Faster, stronger in headers, better control etc. Cardozo is a good player, but not a player we need.

Bale can play as a LB, if Sergio could and Stam played as a RB ( with a LOT of attacking efficiency!) so can Bale. MAicon never looked to be such a beast when he started as a RM, RB, look what turned out.

Im worried about this Lazzari stuff. We dont need to spend money we dont have on such players, but Galliani does that all the time. It 1000 times better to invest into a player like Jucilei or someone like Bonucci ( plus some exchange of some of our players) etc.

Lazzari will not give us what we need. We need a player that will give us a jump in a quality.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, maybe it would be better Milan invests into 2 great players and fits few young ones into the first team and so prepares the squad to be competitive for 2 years.

We cannot build a top team this summer unless someone gives Galliani 100mln. OK, so lets not spend money on 4,5 players that will be mediocre and make Milan mediocre even next year with more signings ( possibly ).

Why dont just sell what we can, pay, or include in the deal some players, for lets say D. Luiz ( pure class CB, FB ) and a player like Ganso or someone. Make maybe few smaller deals and that is it.

Next year again invest into 2 class players ( CF, CM ) and the team will then have a very strong "backbone" of NEsta, Thiago, Luiz, Ganso, CM, PAto, CF.... By buying mediocre players we can pay for we'll never built a great Milan again. What do you think?

http://www.vfl-wolfsburg.de/50543+M5e41e4a5e4f.html

I was just going to write this...

Some sources here reported today about noon that Wolfsburg didn't receive a 40 M offer for Dzeko, so he's staying. This is bad for Dzeko, his progress will stall, and he knows it. This move is very unfair to him. He wanted to be kind and grateful to the team who gave him a chance, he extended until 2013 just for Wolfsburg to get more money for him, and this is what he got in return. Still, better another year in Wolfsburg than move to Man. City. Perhaps he'll be able to move to Milan next year.

For L. Diarra, this guy is all speed, determination and energy. That's all what he has in common with Gattuso, apart the fact he is equally bad in attacking. He can't make a tackle without making a foul, he tackles like headless chicken, without timing and precision, just wants to take the ball with force, but he can't force the ball of a 70 kilos player (Delgado from Lyon). Hilarious. But unfortunately in nowdays' football it's more important he can cover a lot of ground with his running, than actual tactical or technical skill.

Agree. Dzeko is much better player in my opinion. I believe he would make an immediate impact as Kaka' and Sheva at their time did. He's tall, not slow, has great tehnique, good goalscoring stats....

I really don't know what is that moron thinking when he is going for Adebayor who would earn at least 50% more than Dzeko if he was to come. Yes, Luis Fabiano is great player, but his age means he would be at his top for at most 2-3 years and God know how much would it need him to adopt to Serie A.

Dzeko is younger, one of the best attackers today and he plays in mediocre club (Wolfsburg fans shouldn't be offended). No, you cant guarantee he'll adopt to Serie A, but his style and strenght make him a better candidate than Fabiano for Serie A clubs, including Milan.

Btw., Juve is linked with Krasic. I wouldn't be surprised if they get Krasic (and even Dzeko) in front of us, and Gaylliani then buys Trezeguet and declares that we're fine as we are.

I can't believe that you guys are comparing Diarra to Gattuso... Lass Diarra is one of the best players in the world! Easily in my top 10 list... There's no way Gattuso is anything close to Diarra right now. Diarra is so much better than all of our DMs..are you guys crazy or something I cannot believe u don't rate him...

Personally I would like to see 2 new full backs for Milan, as neither Antonini nor Abate are good enough to be world-class, they are both simply just good, sometimes bad but never great. I wouldn't mind going for Bale or van der Wiel (if the price is right). If they didn't go for Cissokho for 15m they will not go for either of these for that much. For LB I don't feel these two are the best out there -- I think Marcelo can be better or Mario Fernandes (the young Brazilian with an Italian passport). I also like Kolarov but it doesn't look like Milan want him (we are negotiating with Lazio a sale of Oddo so we should test the waters by asking about Kolarov...and Zarate :D )

I also think Fabiano should never be considered. He's 30 years old, and he STILL is not good enough for us. Even the pathetic Huntelaar IMO is better, I am still convinced we did a better deal getting Hunter as now at least we can sell him for a good amount...had Fabiano come last year we would have spent 18m and he most likely would have been shyt.... I cannot believe how desperate he is, after what we did to him last year he still is flirting with Milan...

Why has Milan never gone for Alessandro Rosina?

I can't believe that some people really think that Galliani works for Real (you're not the only one Jay) ...

Some reports say that Rui Costa is not trying to help Milan by "giving" some of his players to us for nothing (he clearly said that Milan was the priority for all his players, and then they will consider other offers if Milan isn't interested): he could be included in our management team sooner or later, probably this summer.

After losing Leonardo (coach, scout), having Rui Costa, who has done an amazing job in Benfica, would be one of the greatest ways to rebound ...

As for Dida and Favalli, they will play their last games tonight !! They didn't get any renewal and their contracts end in June, depending on the players (in Europe).

The mercato officially opened yesterday but players were putting deals in place a month ago.We don't have a coach and seemingly 20 million what that will get us i do not know , because we need at least 60-80 million and what we will get from sales which realistically would be about 10 for dinho and 10 hunter , but the mis-management of AC Milan is horrible if someone actually said we no longer expect to win trophies or challenge for them (obviously you can't say that) then fine but Berlusconi saying what he does i would of won scuddetto comfortably we are great i spend 50 million actually more every year all bullsh!t .

They expect to be competitive with a squad that is going into its fourth season as a past it team. T Silva and Pato maybe Flamini Antonini are the only real players we have , guys like Bonera Borri Abate Huntelaar are players that we will never win anything major with.

Geo nowhere did i say I think Galliani works for Madrid but if you read my post and you did you would see i said if true , no one believes Galliani works for Madrid just that he will clear the way by not trying to sign Luiz which he will we are not going to buy anyone worth more than 5 - 8 million this helping Real Madrid , Rui Costa can offer and avise who he wants but as Cafu said in interview that 5 years ago he recommended Luis Fabiano when he would of cost far less , and today he recommends Ganso Miranda and Neymar means nothing , Savicevic recommended Jovetic our MGT just do not act anymore .

They expect to be competitive with a squad that is going into its fourth season as a past it team. T Silva and Pato maybe Flamini Antonini are the only real players we have , guys like Bonera Borri Abate Huntelaar are players that we will never win anything major with.

1st §: When I say "works for Madrid", I mean "helps Madrid" of course, I know Perez doesn't pay Galliani to help him or anything (well, that could explain some things :D) ...

2nd §: T.Silva renewed his contract, so good news ... Pato is also here for some years if our management wants to have him for some years ... Flamini and Antonini will have a sure starting spot next season I think, no matter the coach (the fact that the new coach could have never put a foot in Milan means he is friend with no player we have and will probably not care about putting some "veterans" on the bench) ... Borriello, like Pato and like Huntelaar, if used properly, is very useful. Abate is a squad player. Bonera should be a squad player but his injuries start to fed me up (it's not possible to be a professional sport player and being injured 10 months a year).

So, actually, the likes of Borriello, Huntelaar (again, if they are used properly), Abate or probably Yepes next season are the kind of players that allow you to have a good run in Serie A. They are needed.

On this forum, each time people try to be realistic (which they aren't, you'll understand why in one or two lines, depends on your screen/resolution :D), they write a list of 10 players they want to sell from Milan, and they show a 4-5 player list (generally excellent players that we would need) they want to buy thanks to our small transfer budget + the sale of the players included in the previous list. By doing that, they do no better than our management: that gives a 17-18 player squad and it's 99% sure that this team will be too tired in January/February, which means winning nothing and worse, maybe not qualifying for anything (thinking about that, despite the fact that fans would be upset, it's maybe what we need ... a real year of rebuilding with less players in the team but a better squad overall, risking to lose everything one year, and the following year, adding some players here and there as rotation players ? You see, while thinking it's unrealistic to do so, I try to figure out why that could be a solution).

20 million for 5 good players? 4M each? How the heck would it work, friend? At the best we could only fill our squad with mediocre players.

You are dumping 4 of our fullbacks and replace them with only max 2 players? How come? Then our squad will be (in my estimation based on your plan):

Abbiati
Average RB (someone like Molinaro) - Nesta (bad if he's injured again) - TS - Antonini
Pirlo - Flamini - Average MF (maybe Lazzari or someone like Simplicio? aren't all of you ENVY Roma for signing him? :sarcasm:)
Dinho
Pato - Average striker (all of our transfer budget could not buy Luis Fabiano or Dzeko, let alone 4M)

Subs:
GK: Storari, Perucchini
DF: Yepes, Bonera, Albertazzi, Average DF (maybe like Cannavaro for CB or Drenthe/Marcelo for FB if Real is in kind mood for us, though they're not REAL FB), Onyewu
MF: Ambro, Seedorf, Average MF 2, Abate, Di Gennaro
FW: Adiyiah, Huntelaar, Borriello

The youngsters that could be promoted, I assume, are Perucchini, Albertazzi, Adiyiah, and Di Gennaro. Sorry I didn't see this as a significant improvement.

okay i was replying to Geo saying we need 60 - 80 million + whatever hunter and dinho fetch , not 20 million for 4 players. so read back a tad bit further brother , and getting rid of Zambro kala janku and oddo is good anyone is better even a young right winger as abate prove , just read back before acting like the almighty.

Also looks like we are going after Fabiano again all summer perhaps only to not buy then its too late look familiar.

But in fact we only have 20 million, friend. So it's absolutely ridiculous to expect more unless Berlusconi sells Milan to some media taipan, Russian PM, or madly rich Sheikh, or we sold Alexandre Pato or San Siro itself. Sorry but Zambro, Kala, janku, Oddo will never give us some money, they are as good as free, their wage demand made them of no value for any other clubs, nobody will take them except for free (and that's not even guaranteed).

20 million what that will get us i do not know , because we need at least 60-80 million and what we will get from sales which realistically would be about 10 for dinho and 10 hunter , but the mis-management of AC Milan is horrible if someone actually said we no longer expect to win trophies or challenge for them (obviously you can't say that) then fine but Berlusconi saying what he does i would of won scuddetto comfortably we are great i spend 50 million actually more every year all bullsh!t .

I really like Robinho and I think a Dinho - Robinho swap can be good for us. I am not convinced in Ronaldinho for next year, not at all...even if he does perform well, every single player in the formation has to adjust so that R80 can play well...not good enough. Robinho can come and we can play all sorts of formations as he can play anywhere in the attacking positions. Robinho > Ibra, Dzeko to me.

yes, thank u someone who finally gives robinho some credit here. everyones been talking about dzeko, ibra.. think of it this way, ibra expensive and aging, dzeko expensiver then robinho, other then that an amazing player dont get me wrong, but with our budget robinho and a young midfielder would be better. it would also make our play more versatile compared to now with r80

I think you have to understand that not everyone wants to see Borriello featured as the CF for this Milan team. I agree, Robinho is a great player that can be effective in Milan, but Dzeko and Ibrahimovic are both better players who could potentially transform our attack. Sure, they are expensive but so are every other world class players there is. If money is the only thing we look at when we sign players, then we have all become Galliani.

I think this guy might be good he won't have any sympathy in Dropping Ambro Rini even Pirlo probably won't care for Pippo now and really wont try and keep Janku Oddo Kala happy , and Seedorf will have to run and make a good effort same for Pirlo.

I thought it was Mancini who refused offer(s) to coach because he intended to "punish" Moratti financially for firing him. That's why Mourinho once insinuated him by saying some coach earns more by not working.

It goes in both ways: Inter didn't break the contract as it was probably too expensive, and Mancini refused some offers which resulted by his contract not being broken ... :D

Look at what happens with Benitez, Liverpool are giving him 4 or 5M to make him leave as it seems he refuses other offers (and once he will leave with his 4-5M, he will sign to Inter).

Also worth noting that Allegri is almost 100% our next coach. Tassotti already said this week that he wants to talk to Milan and Allegri directly before deciding his future. Also, Galliani confirmed it to the press saying they are right about our next manager with Allegri but it's not official as he's still contracted to Cagliari until July.

with all that I say welcome to Yepes and Allegri and welcome back to Storari.

Back to serious mercato business. Juve are in talks with CSKA for Krasic no price mentioned and are offering Diego for Aguero Im presuming this would involve cash aswell. Redknapp said Milan can offer what they like for Bale but it doesnt matter he won't be leaving and they have no offered anything anyway , and Galliani says we will not be signing Fabiano or any other player as we have to sell to buy....looks like that 20 million or 30 million whatever doesnt matter because it would appear to be gone.

Usual rumblings i guess I was thinking that we would chase Fabiano again or at least until he moves somewhere else and then say its too late.
Expectations are low , but from 20 - 30 - sell to buy - none is odd. But if we have to get rid of players to buy players or free up space then why Pippo extension WHY??

Expectations are low , but from 20 - 30 - sell to buy - none is odd. But if we have to get rid of players to buy players or free up space then why Pippo extension WHY??

Bale - Milan: it's just rumours, I didn't read any official from Milan saying we are interested by the player, so Redknapp can wait for a long time one of our offers to refuse it, that will probably not happen.

About Galliani, he didn't say it this way (like you said, it sounds like we won't buy because we need to sell players and won't do it), he said that we will buy a striker if one of our strikers leaves (so it is said in the other way: with all these rumours about Borriello or Huntelaar leaving, it's the kind of sentence meaning that there's maybe something true in some of these rumours, now, to know which one is true or not, I let you have fun !! :D).

About Pippo: the answer is "because if we didn't extend his contract, we wouldn't get money anyway as his contract was expired", so he's definitely not in the "players we can sell" box.

So our mercato, so far, has been the following:
- Dida out, Storari in (good)
- Favalli out, Yepes in (good)

And ... nothing else, well, maybe that means they are trying to do their job seriously this time ?

Jay Crisp

Filipez that may be true and is horrible mis management of the club , they will lose alot more money in the next 3-5 years than ever before if they let the club continuing on the 360 its on and jumping down the toilet.
We talk about it alot but the signings and lack of anyone that can contribute to a successful team is bad atm.Storari and Yepes really mean nothing and I do think that next we'll find it tough finishing in the top 5 honestly.Pirlo Seedorf Ambro Nesta and Zambro will be heavily relied on next Season and thats not good , you can get away with 1 or 2 players that are 32 or over but to have the core of your team at 34 , 33 , 34 , 35 , 32 mixed in with only Silva and Pato who are quality and Flamini coming in and out is not a pretty next season.
Borri Antonini Abate are all average-good players. And although Dinho was great this season I expect as much effort from him as we saw in his first season , he was motivated for the WC and should of made it but next season I think we'll all wished they cashed in.

mrki he was never coming to Milan neither will Jucilei Neymar or Bale Krasic because they are not even looking at these players.I think sometimes we talk about players so much that we forget Milan MGT isnt even looking at 95% of the players we talk about. We have Yepes and Storari Gooch back a few youngsters promoted and that will be it , maybe sell Hunter and even then i'd be scepticle about that money being spent well all of it anyway .
You look at some of the players we talk about and the players we are linked to by press and you have to feel a bit sad knowing none of it is remotely true.We will all end up following the team with the same players again and Berlu knows this.....You only have to look at our last 4 signings to realise MGT has no intention of making us a top top team again, they are probably somehow hoping that the guys can stumble through a CL victory , I really do.

Great choices Galliani:p283::p283::p283:

Its gotten to the stage when all we do take the p!ss , no signings so far the world cup player holidays , and we all know how slow Milan MGT is so that gives them about 3 weeks before the season starts and 5 in total.

Its ok, Jay. How much time do they really need to sign nobody? Let's face it, the most we are going to get is probably one player and we have five weeks to get it done.

Sad to hear about Ganso, but I'll wait to see him holding/wearing Real's shirt before I believe he's theirs.

Today we were linked to Lucas Barrios of Borussia Dortmund (it's briefly mentioned in milannews). A 25 year old Paraguayan who is 6'2" and technically decent. His goalscoring record is pretty good too actually, as he was brilliant in Chile before going to Germany, where he's just ended the season as 3rd top scorer (Dzeko and Kiebling taking 1 and 2).

In the league he scored 19 in 33 appearances (Dzeko scored 22 in 34) and in total he scored 23 in 35 games last season. Where I'm guessing Dzeko is probably quite a lot more useful is in assists, as he makes a lot. On Soccernet Dzeko is listed as making 7 assists to Barrios' 4, though I question their stats as Kicker magazine said Dzeko made 10 assists. Barrios also has 3 goals in 3 appearances for Paraguay.

I honestly don't know a great deal about Barrios, but going off stats alone (and a few clips of him), he may be interesting.

Sorry to double post, but more news which I read on milannews.

Our top prospects for attack are either Luis Fabiano or Aquafresca (who Allegri apparently likes). In defence we're currently looking at Bochetti (again of Allegri's choice, and a decent one imo) or Garay of Real (supposedly this is one of Galliani and Perez's recent discussions).

In other news, Bari are supposedly interested in Darmian (maybe related to Bonucci leaving?).

Bocchetti is OK, he's an Italian NT player. Acquafresca is OK too. The problem is, their positions (CB and FW respectively) already has too many players here. We just signed Yepes, got Onyewu back from injury, and extended Pippo's contract. We have 6 CBs if Kaladze is counted and we have 4 strikers. No way they're coming.

Both are realistic targets imo. I'm not a big fan of Aquafresca personally, and never understood all the hype around him. However, given Huntelaar's questionable status in the squad he's a realistic possibility to replace him.

As for Bocchetti, this guy really has the ability and potential to establish himself as a world class defender. What makes him realistic is he's also capable of playing LB, so with Kaladze looking likely to leave (somehow I can't imagine the management just forgiving him following his outburst earlier this season) as well as fairly strong possibilities of Janku and Oddo leaving, Bocchetti would be an excellent addition.

If he came I could imagine a defence next season looking like this...

Antonini------Nesta---Thiago------Bocchetti

or if Allegri likes the idea of Thiago at RB then...

Thiago-----Nesta----Bocchetti-----Antonini

with backups looking like...

Zambrotta, Abate, Yepes, Bonera, Albertazzi, Onyewu

I won't list Kaladze, Oddo and Janku as they all look likely to leave. Kaladze really has no place in the club anymore as I said above, Oddo's heavily rumoured to leave (maybe back to Lazio) and Janku earlier this season said it was his last at Milan.

Tottenham are interested in Huntelaar well Redknapp wants him.So how much is he worth 12 million his stock has gone down a bit but we could get 15 for him.And what players could be included in the deal Bale and Modric are a no go and while are a nice team no one else they have would improve Milan significantly IDK im still hoping for a mercato and praying that if we had 30 say 25 for the first team and 15 for Hunter , Kala Oddo Janku 5 thats 45 million and could get us 3 good players , I know we lose 2 wing backs but its Oddo and Janku , 45 million may actually get us 3 players for 10 million and one for 15 or mix it up i dont want to give up but our MGT are asholes.

Bale for Hunter swap can do us alotta good, an extra left back means Jankulovski out, Bale holds an EU passport, plus we will get rid of one useless striker leaving the spot open for another to come in. However I would wait until after the World Cup to sell Hunter cause he always plays well with the NT. I just hope the management sells him as having all 3 of Pippo/Borriello/Huntelaar is a waste of space. I would definitely keep Pippo from those 3.

Doesn't look like we're going to invest at all this summer. Shame on the fking management, when will they ever wake up? I was hoping for a Dzeko/Jucilei/Bale/Robinho type of mercato but now we get Storari and Yepes and thats it.... **** you Galliani and Berlusconi

I doubt our MGT are interested in any of these players Jucilei Krasic Dzeko Hernanes Miranda Otamendi Fabiano Bochetti Gargano Leon , however Diarra does fit the demo cheap 29 played good between 2003 and 2007 but hasnt had many oppurtunities lately and injury prone.I could see us signing guy's like Diarra Guti Rafa Marquez Camoranesi but they wont really do much.

Also Oddo and Janku will definately be gone this summer Janku wants to go home or close to home , and Oddo believes he is being treated unfairly and wants a starting position yeah Oddo your great but Milan are holding you down.

I have no expectations now i'll just read everything roll my eyes and be about my business.Anything will be a bonus obviously , im taking bets at what point Allegri will be called inept and blamed because our team cannot win and if Berlu was in charge we'd win the Scuddetto Champions league Coppa Euro super cup World club cup Serie B and La Liga .
The reason Milan have not signed anyone yet is they cannot pay the phone bill so phones and fax machines are down , as soon as they sell Pato and Silva the phone bill will be paid but there will be none of the 70 million left to invest. So we will sign Canna and Del Piero who lets be honest are world champions and fit well into Milan for the 2011/2012 season.

not really, they have to do something because on 20th of july milan will protest at team gathering, and some say they are around 15000 to milanello on team gathering so berlusconi will look really bad. and i dont think he is willing to lose more of his image, what is the use of being the most successful president of milan and destroys milan as well, i think we in july everything will looks clear, knowing that sassulo president said earlier that if his team fail to win promotion to serie A, he will seriously bid for milan, i dont expect them to sell before 3 to 5 years but if they find a buyer, they will introduce him gradually to the society. this is what i think.

so i think milan is looking for a buyer more than for players and thats a good step. all the big companies stop spending before selling, if this is what berlusconi is doing than i am willing to watch ugly milan for one more year, and to hell with titles and champions league as long as we are gonna be the powerhouse of europe again, because honestly if inter keeps on winning it will be very hard to watch football.

First Galliani says Storari will come back, then rumour has it Brazilian Bruno will replace outgoing Dida whilst Marco will stay at Samp.

Even more interesting is rumours that Cagliari wanted Paloaschi as part of the Allegri deal... now they do not want that and instead want someone as crap as Elia Legati in compenstion

D'Agostino signed for the Viola handy signing don't know if he will improve them. Not someone i'd want at Milan but movement nonetheless.

Isn't it what we all want to absolutely avoid (not needed new players) ?

So the situation with the coachs is the following:
Fiorentina: Prandelli -> Mihajlovic (-)
Milan: Leonardo -> Allegri (-=+, let's wait)
Inter: Mourinho -> Benitez (---)
Italy: Lippi -> Prandelli (+)

I think Prandelli is the perfect coach when you are a club with young players ... and it's why I think he will be an improvement compared to Lippi for the NT because the Italian NT is going to lose a complete generation of players after the WC and they will have a lot of young/very young talented players, but almost nobody between 26 and 30yo.

Mihajlovic could be a success story in Fiorentina, but I don't like this guy and hope he will fail in Fiorentina.

For Inter, taking Benitez to replace Mourinho is probably one of the worst moves they could do. Benitez is probably going to splash money on some Spanish players, but not the best ones, some average players like in Liverpool (Reina is good, Torres is WC when not injured, but all the other Spanish players Benitez brought to Liverpool were bad/decent) !!

And for us, I have seriously no idea of how the "Allegri solution" will work as we don't have any idea of what will happen on the mercato this summer. With the current team, I don't expect any great result, he will do as well as Leonardo, maybe a little worse, maybe a little better, but nothing exceptionnal.

Yes yes it is.
But we all know we need change injection whatever , D'Ago not someone i'd like but we need a bit of pace skill goalscoring defending that is better solid consistent keeper.
They cannot believe what they preach , well I know they are not stupid but out of touch. Its a football a business and while trying to not go into debt is great business practice carrying on with the same squad is just as bad as overspending , as with injuries a bad team etc... we will fail to qualify or get far in CL and lose money anyway.

PErez said that Gourcuff is a player they are interested in. That he is considered to be one of the best players in the world in the future and Madrid needs those kind of players etc.

Krasic goes to Juve, Dzeko to JUVE or City. Juve switching to the old 4-4-2, after Pepe now its bonucci and Krasic. Bonucci is a great player!

Ibra to City maybe with Robinho to play LW at Barca.

We have 20mln but we can spend only if we sell... which means we have nothing again. Berlusconi "gives 50mln every year..." but we have 0 to spend.

Comedy continues, Milan as Parma part 3.

They say Milan will only pay for Ganso but he costs too much... 15mln! :rollani::rollani::rollani:

If Milan sells Huntelaar Fabiano will arrive... Again money from Hunt for Fabiano, no money spent, like past 2 years!

Money grabbing scum, sell Milan!
Just sell the club so we can stop with this absurd circus.

P.S.

juve went to serie B and can still spend money since then, every year some 50-70mln! We cannot pay for 3 decent players once in 3 years. Krasic, Dzeko and Bonucci, that is all you need for one mercato. No, we have Onyewu and Yepes... and Seedorf not to forget who will play CF this year so we can litteraly walk for 90min.

He probably knows how he wants to play but when he trains with the team it will be different, it gets a bit crap seing teams bolstering their squads but i dont want signings for thge sake of signings which is what we have ended up with lately.

Isnt 25 million a bit musch really i mean Barca offer 30 mil for fabregas and you'll get Aguero for 30 - 35 so 25 million just seems a bit excesive for me ive seen him a few times and he is great but 15 - 18 would be a fair price IMO.

It's interesting to read comments not just from ex players and coaches, but also the current group. Maldini's comments are just his latest in a long line (never mind others who have spoken).

However, the fact is Dinho said the players want the squad to be strengthened to compete. Leonardo obviously wanted reinforcements last summer. Ambro and Seedorf have both admitted we have a weaker squad than others and are struggling to compete. Pirlo has also spoken of the squad struggling, with him not expecting any noteworthy additions.

Quite frankly, there's a lot of negativity surrounding us.

big clubs are doing mercato like this what we doing nothing,we dont have coach ? :hopefull:

yeah wouldnt believe anything about utd , there was a special on panorama that said and its true Manchester United are in £1.1 billion in debt about 1.3 billion euro , the got 86 million for Ronaldo spent 17 on valencia and 3 on obertan and in january used 70 million of it to secure the bond they got , which means the lost 4 million.
And Fergie has been on tv saying there will be no signings that they will use the squad they and if players are sold none will come in.
If anyone saw that special on panorama you would realise what a dire situation they are in.

Allegri probably has a realistic idea of a few targets but they wont arrive no on e will we know this and it is bad i mean as someone said we have 20 million but must sell a striker to buy one which means we have nothing again.

Juventus has officially signed Pepe, and according to the Chinese source (I am not sure how reliable it is), the salary is only 650,000 euros per season for this Italy NT player. Amazing deal.

Well, Pepe is just a squad player IMO ... He's a bit like Quagliarella, among the players that I think are decent and nothing more but are hyped without any particular reason.

In Italy, they say there is an agreement, but he will sign after the WC ...

E i miei compagni? Allegri come fa giocare le sue squadre, con quanti attaccanti? Il 20 luglio sarò a Milanello, anzi magari non proprio il 20... visto che mi daranno tre settimane di vacanza dopo l'ultima partita del Mondiale spero proprio di non essere al lavoro il giorno del raduno. Però poi arrivo. Non lascio il Milan prima di aver dimostrato il mio valore. Devo partire dalla panchina? Vedremo, per me non c'è problema. Mi metto in gioco anche questa volta".

Huntelaar, presumed to leave at several occasions, wanted to repeat his will to continue his aventure in Rossonero. Here what he said directly from South Africa (reported by Gazzetta blabla): "I feel good, I read a lot of things about Milan and I'd like to know even more. Allegri will really come ? And what will happen with the rest of the staff ? And my team mates ? How does Allegri make his teams playing, with how many strikers ? The 20th of July, I'll be in Milanello, actually I hope I won't be really there the 20th ... because they will give me 3 weeks of holidays after our last game in the WC, so I hope I will not be there for the first day of the raduno (come back for training). And then I'll be back. I won't leave Milan before having showed what I'm worth. I must start on the bench ? We'll see, for me, it's not a problem. [last sentence, I don't know what he speaks about actually]."

About coming from the bench and accepting it, I don't know if that's true. I don't know, it sounds to me like if they asked him if he would accept to be on the bench of his NT during the WC, and they pasted his answer there, in the middle of this paragraph ...

I dont mind having Huntlaar staying put. I am not really worried about our attack. What bothers me most is our defence just like last season. We may have been the second best defence in Serie A or something but we need reinforcements. We need a strong bench to look up to. The whole of last season we were hoping Nesta and T.Silva remained without any injuries coz we didnt have any decent backups. We need some people in our FB position as well.

Actually neither the defense nor the attack is a problem. The problem is the midfield & gk. Huntelaar is great, Borriello & Pato are also good, so we have decent group of finishers. In defense, even without Nesta, the group of TS, Bonera, Onyewu, Antonini & Zambrotta is pretty nice, provided Bonera & Onyewu remain fit.

We actually need a dynamic midfielder, a Frank Lampard type of a midfielder, who runs the show. Last season Inter signed Wesley & that changed things for them. I would say VDV could be the solution for us. And how about Diego? Brazilians play better for ACM than Juve :mex:

For Onyewu, let's wait he plays one single game for Milan ...
For Bonera, he's almost useless with his injuries + red card when fit ...
For Zambrotta, I don't trust him anymore for a 1 month competition, and even less for a whole season.

We need defenders. We can't rely on Nesta again like we did this season.
We have to do like if Onyewu, Bonera and Zambrotta had to be unavailable for a long time ...

And then, of course, we need a guy like VdV.

In attack, we're ok, we maybe need a 4th striker, a young one to be included in our team (because even if I can be a fan of SuperPippo, this season, he never deserved to be called SuperPippo).

Maldini: 'Coach not Milan's problem'
Tuesday 8 June, 2010
Paolo Maldini has torn into his former club after Leonardo’s exit. “The problem at Milan is not the Coach.”

The Rossoneri are set to bring in ex-Cagliari boss Massimiliano Allegri after Leonardo considered himself “incompatible” with President Silvio Berlusconi.

“Allegri did very well at Cagliari and I hope he can do just as well at Milan,” said Maldini.

“However, at this moment the real problem is not the Coach, but closing the gap on other clubs and for that we need new players.

“Juventus are investing heavily, Inter are already strong and still want to pour more money into the squad.

“It is a tricky time in the transfer market and Milan seem eager to limit themselves to relatively cheap exchange deals. The fans have to get used to that.

“In these circumstances, though, it becomes very difficult to close the gap on the other sides.”

Berlusconi and Vice-President Adriano Galliani have declared Milan’s new plan to bring in more players through the youth system.

“Talents cost money,” warned Maldini, who made his debut aged 16. “There is so much talk about the youth team, but these lads are not ready for a dangerous League like Serie A.”

The legend has been linked with a job in the new Italy set-up as a director in Cesare Prandelli’s staff.

“I read that in the newspapers too, but up until now there has been no type of proposal. I only collaborated with the FIGC in helping to promote the Euro 2016 candidacy.

“President Giancarlo Abete is open to any type of collaboration and so am I, so we’ll see. I am doing my own thing at the moment and will evaluate every offer on an individual basis, depending on what I want to do.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Maldini never sucked up to anyone in the club and that is why I adore him and his statemants. People started to talk about our primavera like we spent 50mln for 15 best young players in the world. Primavera won the coppa but isnt even a champion of italia. And even if our primavera is something like Barca's, that is practically worth 15% to your mercato, as you can only insert 1,2 players that will SLOWLy start playing... But Galliani says few fancy things in papers and then Milan fans start talking about JUNIOR players...

So we again have no money. Not 20, not 15mln, nothing. If this mercato finishes as last seasons ( with horrible precision ) we dont even have to watch next season.

Only hope is that sooner or later Milan will be sold and some people with heart will lead Milan, like Maldini, Baresi etc.

Hunter to stay? Of course, when him staying doesnt cost nothing.

Here's the news for today:

Sevilla's Adriano: I want to play in Italy -- for Milan in particular.
http://www.milannews.it/?action=read&idnotizia=26711

Adriano officially signs for Roma

Huntelaar: I want to stay in Milan [even though I prefer to quit football and play ballet]

Milan drops interest in Luiz and focuses on Garay

Milan linked with Giuseppe Rossi

and last but not least, there's alot of rumours that Milan have wrapped up the Otamendi transfer for 10 million euro (some sources say dollar). Even if this was official, I would not believe we splash 10m euro on a single player, especially as he is not one of the positions we need badly (attacking fullback, creative midfielder, attacker). I hear that Otamendi can play in all back four positions but he is quite bad offensively and is pretty good as a CB. I dont have a clue whether he has an EU passport or not, but if he doesn't then that would be another Non-EU not spent wisely.

Interesting fact about Otamendi...

He was also called to play the World Cup qualifying matches against Colombia and Ecuador, and played as a central defender along Martín Demichelis in the second match. He also started in the game against Brazil, were he played along Sebastián Domínguez, his teammate in Vélez. His third start with Argentina during the World Cup qualification was in the final match, against Uruguay, where he played as a right winger.

Braziliero doesn't rate Otamendi really high, but a lot of sources say he has some talent and could be promising ...

So if this guy comes, that means that our defence department would be:
- LB: Antonini, Zambrotta, Yepes
- RB: Abate, Zambrotta, Bonera
- CD: T.Silva, Nesta, Otamendi, Onyewu, Yepes, Bonera

Depending on the level of Otamendi, it's better than what we had this season ...

But I think we should let Bonera or Zambrotta go (my first choice would be to let Bonera leave) to buy a RB and use Abate as second choice there. Then our defence would be fixed, and we would "just" have to work on all the other areas of our team ... :D

I don't count Oddo and Kaladze as I think they won't be here at the start of next season. Favalli is already gone.

I would assume that Otamendi is a pretty good player, considering that he's in Argentina's squad for the World Cup.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XeUX0TC9Srw

He does look like a quality central defender, if you ask me. If Galliani has proper ambitions for the team, he would be a very good signing, as considering the signing of Mario Yepes as well we'd have reliable back-ups for both Nesta (who can't be expected to play twice a week at his age) and Silva.

Remember that even though we had the second tightest defense in the league last year, we were mauled in the big games because particularly Inter and Man Utd had the quality to expose our defensive weaknesses. If Otamendi comes and we get rid of Janku and Oddo and sign two fullbacks and a midfielder or two, we suddenly have a very strong team for next season (which is what Galliani promised us - a team that can challenge for the Scudetto).

This is probably all just wishful thinking though :-/

It's an option but I still prefer Silva as CB since he is a monster there (and could be better). What I want to see (if Otomendi is really a good CB aka better than Bonera), Silva plays in front of the two CBs. Silva+Pirlo and Hernanez could be great or even better wtih Jucilei+Silva+Hernanez with Pirlo in front of them.

Thanks.

According to FIFA's website, he is only 171 cm. Very short for a CB.

From youtube link provided by devoted_dm (thanks), it seems that he likes sliding-tackles much (even I am not sure if it was him). He could be a good defender but lost by Fabiano with advantage on Otomendi (because he still was ahead of Fabiano) is not good. Ok, many defenders could face similar but those defenders are decent defenders.

Haven't seen Otamendi, but as far as I know he's expected to be Argentina's RB at the WC, which suggests he's very versitile. Don't really give much to the fact that Maradona has faith in him, this is the guy that managed to play Martín Palermo @ 35 infront of Aguero, Tevez, Milito etc.

He's apparently highly rated though, and a player that can play FB and CB is exactly what we need.

While Maradonna has some odd choices, to say the least, he's also the reason they got into the World Cup in the first place. I don't understand how Cambiasso or Zanetti aren't in the squad, but as far as Otamendi goes, I think the concern is less about the money or his quality, but about the non-EU spot that he takes up.

Watching Ganso and Jucilei, it is abundantly clear that there is quite a bit of talent in both of those players. However, if reports are to be believed that 25 million is what Ganso's asking price is, that is ridiculous. If Ganso would cost 25 million, I would rather put that money in a whole host of other players.

Frankly, I don't understand how Juve are actually contemplating getting rid of Diego. As if he was their problem. The whole team played poorly. I would take Diego from Juve in a heart-beat. Give him to us on loan, option to buy at 15 million. Of course, there's also Giovinco who is a player worth a try.

Of course, without knowing what Allegri wants, I don't know how we can speculate. The market isn't ending any time soon, and few players will be moving while they are at the world cup.

Here's something interesting to think about: D'Agostino just got sent over to Fiorentina (on co-ownership) and he plays in a similar role to Zanetti and Montolivo. With Pirlo's injury and now Montolivo's "audition" for the position, it would not surprise me to see him come to us now, otherwise, D'Agostino's transfer seems a little odd when Zanetti, Donadel, and Bolatti are all vying for a central midfield place, while Vargas, Marcionni, Ljajic, Santana, and Jovetic taking the attacking midfield/winger places.

Personally, I would be 100% behind Montolivo coming to Milan. I think its the right time for him to transfer, both because Fiorentina are out of the CL and that Montolivo seems to be ready for that next jump. Of course, we'll really find out during the WC how he adjusts to the pressure, but, seeing him this season with Fiorentina, I think that he has shown that he's ready.

Otamendi and Montolivo would be two good additions, though, I'd rather someone else than Otamendi and save the non-EU for Jucilei or better yet, Dzeko.

Disagree, I believe any good coach would take this Argentina safely to World Cup... Maradona did quite well with his choices to unimpress much of the football world... I mean, not bringing Zanetti and especially Cambiaso to Africa is a crime :D

If Maradona didn't bring Cambiaso or Zanetti to Africa, the reason is he chose Mascherano as his captain and anchor man, IMHO.

He said that he builds the team not only for WC, but also other competitions after that like Coppa America.

Yes, he used Palermo over many great & young forwards, but except for Kun Aguero, they did not perform well, especially Messi. Even Palermo had a "hat-trick" for penalty-misses, he is a top class forward, he deserves another chance, and he paid back. So why question? In recent matches, Maradona used other stirkers like Higuain, Tevez, Millito and of course Messi, not him.

Veron is old, but his position requires experience, Riquelme is too slow and they still have Pastore, haven't they?

Maradona is crazy, his choices are weird, but he did, is doing and will do the best for his country. There's no question about that. The images of him wavering his shirt in locker-room after winning the WC1986, his tear in final 1990 or his joy after scoring the goal against Greece in WC1994 are unforgetable for me, but those are also the history.

Yes, I'm a fan of Diego Maradona (and Paolo Maldini). Leave alone his lifestlye, I really admire his spirit.

A good coach can bring Argentina to WC, and only so, but Maradona is something different.

Well, WC is coming, the transfer rumours around Milan are getting crazy. However, there are some hopes.

If we have both Otamendi and Ganso for next season?

- the most interesting one = we're still linked with Ganso, and his price could be something like 15M and not 25M
- the disappointing one coming from France (so surely false) = Hernanes would be close from Lyon (their president seems to make a hard work nowadays, he met himself Briand to make him sign his contract, the guy was free and was promised to Marseille, he also said he had an agreement with one player from the NT, but I don't remember who, and now these rumours about Hernanes) ...

Also, the new firm managing our sponsorship deals seems to do a good work because they brought money to the club (on TMW, they say they found us an amount of money close to 20% of the TV deal).

I just said that would be OK, not good or great. Ballack's wage is high but he knows his condition now. 2 years for each of them is not bad. Ballack at most cost 8M for 2 years, Petrov 4-5M and no transfer fee, this money of course is going to be paid part by part (mean the reserved amount for wage could be invested in other works). When you buy a new & good one, about 10M transfer and 4-6M for 2 years wage must be spent.

I still think Dinho is very good if he play at his position. There is no WC but player like him has his pride. Pirlo's passes are as precise as ever, but he couldn't dash 40m and score. How could he play if there are no movement around him, regardless of how accurate his passes are, they will be cut for sure.

Ballack & Petrov are both subs at their old club. Petrov < Dinho though faster. Ballack is not a true deeplying playmaker so he can be a sub there, be another Beckham or play at Seedorf's position.

I want Ganso, Hernanes, Dzeko,... but with 20M or even less, how could we spend?

It looks like the complete interview isn't on internet as I already saw two different versions (one allowing us to have a doubt, the other one a bit less).

Anyway, after saying several times he will stay in Milan, that the fans shouldn't worry about him, etc ... then he said, I think last week, that it's the club that would decide his future, and now this one.

Seriously, these football players start to make me upset: it looks like they have no respect for the fans, the clubs (let's not forget the club is the employer), ...

Wouldnt worry about Pato leaving this year Milan mgt wouldnt get near the 50 or 60 million they would like for Pato now.He has achieved very little and his stock isnt as high as it would be if he was in the Brasil squad. In 3 or 4 years I can see him moving on which will be dissapointing as he will only be 23/24.

Pato is probably as good as gone either this year or the next. I think he will be gone this year and by next year it will be T. Silva. I guess the current Milan policy is sell a star per season.

Marchetti, Adriano, Jucilei, Ganso = dream transfer

Marchetti, Adriano, Nesta, Thiago Silva, Antonini, Flamini, Jucilei, Ganso, Ronaldinho, Pato, Borriello = younger starting lineup

Sub: Abbiati, Zambrotta, Abate, Bonera, Albertazzi, Yepes, Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Strasser, Seedorf, Verdi, Huntelaar, Inzaghi, Zigoni

... On a more realistic note, using Allegri's influence to bring some of his own players with him would be great. Probably not Marchetti.

And Outamendi would be great. versatile and young, he is the cover we need for our defence. I would invest the money in him or David luiz, but it seems Madrid have got Luiz tied up.

I see a move for Diarra useless as well.

Adriano of Sevilla and Diego Alves are both interested in the idea of joining us (both rumours from tribalfootball).

on milannews it says apparently there's no contact with Luis Fabiano who could now renew. Galliani has confirmed Pato will stay (who himself said it earlier) and says Allegri will be coach as soon as he's available.

Finally, the most interesting rumour off milannews is that Kaladze and Janku are proving to be problems. Both have rejected offers we have had so far and for us to get rid of them (if we can't sell them) is to terminate the contract with a heavy payment for wages. Oddo's in a similar situation but apparently more open to going back to Lazio.

What a disrespect from Kala and Janku, both of them never fulfilled their potential with us,especially Janku, the other one we took for Dinamo Kiev and paid him for years 3-4 mil even though he was a substitute for years now. And now they`re trying to rip us.

Its sad how football has lost its soul over the years...where Are the Maldinis and Baresis of this generation.

I see teams making signings and trying to make signings , and we talk about players always to see them go elsewhere , Krasic will be good for Juve when it goes through ....we dont even have a manager , but Janku and Kala really no pride ye have been told ye are not wanted and stick arounf just for $$$$$ rather than playing for a team that may want them.

Im not even looking for rumours anymore because we'll we have to sell to buy and we have nothing worth selling that we could sell , all we could sell for good money is Pato or Silva and thats not something i want to happen...and I dont see the point in selling one of Hunter, Borri , Flamini as we'd only get 10 - 15 million and not be able to buy anything we need , also Dinho I suppose but he isnt worth more than 10 million now so whatever.

Jay, stop crying: yeah, there's still no new player in Milan, but what about the other clubs ?! You talk about Juv ? They'll have Pepe, wow, genius !! Oh and Gallas too (bad Cannavaro replaced by a worse Gallas) !! Youhou, Juv, you're on the road of victory (Serie B victory) ... Krasic ? So far, he's not from Juventus and rumours are about other clubs giving him huge contract.

As long as Allegri won't be officially our coach, we won't sign anyone I think (maybe Ganso as a gift for Allegri when he arrives ?).

Janku and Kaladze refusing offers is more problematic ... because, I'm very surprised about that, some clubs seem interested by them and could even give us some money for them, but these guys prefer keeping their warm chair in the stadium (not on the bench, in the stadium, yes) and not playing football during one year instead of going somewhere where they are wanted ?!
They have no respect for the club actually, not because of their level (I don't believe one second that a player can accept to leave because he thinks he's not good enough anymore to play in a club) but because players at the end of their contract, who know they won't get any renewal then, generally accept offers the year before to "thank" their club and allow them to earn some money thanks to them, at least, players with some kind of respect for their club do it. Obviously, Kaladze and Jankulovski are not like that.

Guess we are not allowed an opinion hey Geo.Im not crying but being realistic I didnt say Juve will be great but they are trying to do what they can with what they have I dont care what they do.
And you think Ganso will arrive good for you , I dont infact id as far as say no one over 7 million or of any real use will arrive , we will sign a couple of players but not for 15 miliion or more no way it doesnt fit into the plan.....and i come here and post because i support Milan not many infact no one else i know does so i put my thoughts out there and sometimes i vent as do alot of members , so keep your stop crying comments to yourself ok.

Well, I wouldn't be that harsh on them. A contract is a two-way agreement. The club can't just sign long-term contracts and expect the players to agree to terminate it whenever the club wants.

When that is said, they probably understand their playing time in the future would be very limited at Milan. If they have any ambition as footballers, then I'm sure they will come to an agreement sooner or later.

You can have your opinion, you can think it, you can write it, you can do whatever you want to do with it, but why repeating twice a day the same thing ? If I read your last 10 posts, you say at least 9 times that we will buy no player, that we don't do anything while other clubs do ... The "stop crying" comes from that.

The fact is that no club, so far, has made one single good/great transfer (maybe only Real Madrid with Mourinho) !!

But despite that, Milan should have bought Hernanes, Ganso, Dzeko, Krasic, and all other good players that all clubs want/will want of course. And like it's hyped to do so nowadays, everyone criticizes the club for that (I will try to find some other clubs forum to see if they are criticized too by their fans for not having signed anyone yet). Galliani has made a terrible job the last 2-3 years ? Yes ... Does he do a terrible job right now ? I don't know, and noone knows, before already sending our club six feet under because of a bad mercato, let's wait the end of this mercato ?

Last year and the year before, Warro would have joined the discussion to say to everyone to keep cool ... Well, today, I say it: guys, keep cool, wait some days/weeks before doing nightmares (and enjoy the World Cup).

For your second paragraph, I think most of the people here are fans of Milan and have not 50 people around them supporting Milan too, it's a forum, people come to write their thoughts, it's true. But if a "stop crying" can make you upset (let me know if I'm wrong, but by reading your post, it looks like you're not happy because of this "stop crying" ...), then I don't know what to say ?!

Didn't Janku say that this would be his last year for sure and that he would go back to his own country?

Well, I wouldn't be that harsh on them. A contract is a two-way agreement. The club can't just sign long-term contracts and expect the players to agree to terminate it whenever the club wants.

When that is said, they probably understand their playing time in the future would be very limited at Milan. If they have any ambition as footballers, then I'm sure they will come to an agreement sooner or later.

I actually agree with that. It is not entirely their fault. When you have a super incompetent manager who gives you astronomical paychecks for doing nothing but warming bench, you would have all the incentive to stay put. Between "career" and "1 or half million pay", maybe "career"; but between "career" and "3 or 4 million pay guaranteed for 3 or 4 years", I say "screw the career".

I don't think it's that disrespectful tbh. Both apparently rejected moves to clubs they didn't want to go to (e.g. Sampdoria). The player should be allowed to make such a decision as it's a big decision in their life. Janku in particular I bet would leave happily if he was given a choice to go back to his homeland.

Where the problem is the fact that we gave them huge contracts until next year (if I'm correct). Now when we want to try and cut them out of the squad, we fail as they've lost they're value as they've aged and no club will be willing to pay close to what we give them.

Whilst Kaka being sold was a massive loss, it made sense from a business perspective. Juve in the past did similar acts like selling Zidane. Whilst I don't advocate selling players in their prime, we've changed the squad around too late with the current generation.

Just your general smug way of talking kinda p1sses me off at times .I did not say We should have signed Dzeko Krasic Hernanes Ganso and who ever .What Im writing is about MGT basically that we had 20 million but must sell to buy which means we have nothing , the Pippo extension the signing last year of a player like Onyewu the Yepes transfer .The sale of Kaka and Sheva without even attempting to replace Kaka , the mistake of Gourcuff Savicevic recommended Jovetic we probably spent that money on Zambro David Luiz and Ganso were recommended a good while back never acted....

The level of =stupid decisions and bad signings has been awful. In the last 5 years we have 2 1/2 good players Pato Silva Dinho ( you will see a dip in his level of performance next year) thats bad management and think of the wasted money in that time on crap players who did nothing .
The business model of Milan now is alot different to what we want and would like and it resembles one of a club looking to break into a Europa league spot.Sure we have the names of our last great run and Pato Silva are here Hunter Dinho Borri are good. But you see Milan linked with 3 or 4 players a day and there just stories , then you see the actual players Milan MGT speak of and you see the extensions and the signings made that clubs like Palermo Samp and the Viola wouldnt be seen making.

But you seem to fail to see this or ignore it or try to stay positive. No one said we should sign all the players we are linked with , but it doesnt look promising.
And again man your way of talking to people isnt great , and it annoys me not a cry comment but your smuggness....youre always right in your eyes and the last 5 years of bad dealings dont matter because that was in the past , well Geo they do matter and it annoys me that the mgt are awful and the things they say are ridiculous.

Let's all get along :D The only guilty party here is the management who are being out thought and out spent by a wide margin. Contracts respected or otherwise I believe, even if they leave happily, we won't be replacing Kala or Janku by anyone too exciting.

Selling Kaka might have make sense from a business standpoint, if only Milan actually kept Gourcuff or sign players to strengthen the squad. Juve did that with ZZ.
