Morinho to Inter is really bad news. I get the sense that Milan has bad timing and is one year off. Last year Buffon was rumored to be available but instead we chose to stick with Dida. Imagine if Buffon was available now! Now a coach of Jose's caliber is available but we are sticking with Ancelotti. If Milan have a bad season next year (ie never in contention for il scudetto), it's very likely that Ancelotti will be fired and we'll all curse the bad timing knowing that Jose was available. The availablity of superstars are not coinciding with the needs that management sees for our team. I hope we don't regret letting Jose go to Inter...

Recently we have been linked to Etoo and Evra. Could we not have tried to sign them from Majorca or Monaco.

How many years now have Inter had the "perfect" attack?

I dunno....but Drogba to Inter is sounding more and more like music to my ears....they seem to suit each other perfectly....look good on paper, but always fail...born losers if u ask me.

I agree, Inter can have him. Drogba's ego and petulance would suit Inter perfectly. It would be like playing Materazzi as a striker!

I know some people rate Drogba highly but imho he isn't such a great striker.
He had one really good season in the EPL and thats all.

This season he made 19 (2 as sub) appearances and only scored 8 goals in the league.
He also collected 6x yellow cards and 1x red card in those 19 leagues games.

In the same team, under-performing, "lost all his talent" Sheva made 17 appearances ( 9 as a sub) and scored 5 goals. He also received 0 cards.

If Drogba arrives at Milan, perhaps he will prove me wrong? Then I would eat humble pie

Drogba and Toni are probably the best two strikers in the world(target man wise).
Klose, Gomez, Amauri, RVN, Eto and others are only second to them.
To have Drogba playing for Milan is like having Weah all over again. And I am sure the thing that Pippo and Kaka has will be even better with Drogba around.

Warro Bantan
26-05-2008, 10:45
Gabriel489...I disagree..Drogba cannot walk in Weah´s shoes...he doesnt have the touch, nor the ability to make a good pass...he may be as strong, but thats about it.

Comparing Drogba to Weah, is like comparing a Big Mac with a Ruth Cris steak.

Gabriel489
26-05-2008, 10:50
What I meant having Weah all over again, I was not comparing Drogba to Weah, while as I was stating we will be having a clear No.1(BEST) striker in the world.
As good as Sheva was, he was never a clearcut No.1 (BEST) striker in the world.

Be carefull waht you wish for: Drogba - Ibra ?? that cant fail under Mourinho.

mourinha is up to be signed and we are sticking with a man that cant chance formation once in 6 years. Im really sad about the fact that coaches are choosen by Milan only to be puppets for Berlusconi. Aldough we have success in Europe, that factor makes me sad and gives me an un-sporting feeling.

A comment from calciomercato by italioan fan about Milan and regarding Evra: translate it if you want...

Vergogna!!!!!

Are you sure it's not you who wrote this ?
It sounds so Mrkish.
:D

And as Warro mentioned above, the reports are about Milan trying to get Evra on free transfer, but not this year. The talks are about next summer when his contract with ManU will expire.
Nothing will come out of it, imo. Manchester will offer him new rich contract if they want to keep him, and i believe they'll want to keep him, just like i believe that he'll want to stay.
If they don't want him they'll sell him this summer in order to get some money from him, but i didn't hear anything about ManU wanting to get rid of Evra (and why would they ? )

And again and again and again ... mrki comments on Ancelotti, even when there's no match ... tell me, actually, wouldn't you be his biggest fan ?! lol

The comment you took from Calciomercato is nothing, just another one from a fan, like all of us here (except the guy put it on calciomercato, so let it on calciomercato ? Because if we do that, in 10 minutes, i put here 15 messages with same kind of thinking than me from other websites, which has no sense at all ...), and of course, you put it here because it's similar to what you say ... and this message is even more nothing after reading "with the squad he has had, he has won nothing for 7 years", did this guy support Milan for the last 7 years ??

First of all, I don't think JM is the best coach in the world. Just look at his record, beside the Porto fluke in CL that year, what had he won. A couple of EPL but with a team like Chelsea, it is had not to win. What JM is good at is protecting his players and always defend them.
Is Carlo a better coach, I would say yes, but he is not the best.
I still believe the best coach is either Capello or RB.

I can't aggree about people who keep saying that Carlo is Berlusconi's dog or Carlo is a puppet. Come on man, it's a relationship between employee and employer just like you normally work. Give little respect to Carlo. If not, you also say that all employee are puppets and dogs of his employer as they can't do whatever they want to do.

Milan are not that evil to Carlo. I agree Milan were so bad in players transfer in these 2 years but they also didnt expect high from Carlo : it's balanced and fair relationship! Plus Milan did some transfers even few of them were good.

Please respect how Carlo is. He is not Maurinho who keeps moaning. Many coaches are similar to Carlo especially in Italy as they play role only as coach not as manager. Just look at Prandelli. He accepts what Fio board do with the markets. He didnt moan to Fio board or threaten them to quit from his Job if there would be no substitute for Toni when Toni left Fio. He just accepted that he had to use Pazzini who is unexprienced and far away from Toni's calibre.

I think that Toni is a better striker than Drogba...its just that Drogba could be in a better position to be aquired than Toni is at present....so he isnt IMO, the clear #1 striker in the world....he is in the top 5, but certainly not #1.

Other strikers I rate as highly, or higher:

Etoo
Gomez
RVN
Ibra
Adebayor (maybe in a year or so)
Adriano (before his problems)
Torres

And this list without even trying too hard. I dont dispute that he is a good player, just not convinced that we should target him, to the exclusion of others.

Who was the best according to you?Ronaldo was better (marginally) but you're right Sheva was the most flawless striker in the world he had it all speed, strenght, two feet, passing, shooting power/placement, dribbling etc. Ronaldo was less complete in the air and was far less consistent but was far more dangerous and had the "X" factor that sheva NEVER had. Maradonna was aslo another incomplete forward in terms of his attack arsenal (he was small and basically one footed) but he was still better than MVB.

Drogba is better than:
Adebayor (in every imagineable department except PERHAPS pace)
Gomez (not too sure how Gomez will perform on the big stage)
Ibra (better finisher, faster, stronger better free kicks, better the only thing Ibra has is the he's more creative)
Adriano (be serious :wallbang: )
RVN (admittedly RVN is the best finisher in the game, Drog beats him in overall play)

Out of the list only Torres and Eto'o I'd rate higher. Plus if you add the fact that Eto'o can be out muscled easier than Didier...only Torres is left who is at present unavailable.

Personally I'd take Gomez though. He looks to be the real deal.

Have you seen Drogba make a decent pass recently? If he came to Milan, I am sure Carlo would tell him that he can only touch the ball in the opponents box...I have lost count at the amount of bad passes Drogba makes in the attacking third...

In the final, there were at least 5 plays that his poor passing messed up, and those plays would have led to some concrete chances, as Man U were a bit exposed....

RVN is a better contributor to build up play...maybe thats how I should have put it.

Pippo is a better passer than Drogba IMO, which isnt saying much for either of them :D

MILAN - Real Zaragoza officially communicates they have decided to buy the other half of former Rossonero Ricardo Oliveira's contract.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does it mean that Zaragoza bought (gave money for) Oliveira's half contract when they took him from Milan last summer and then add 10 mil euros in this summer to buy the other half?

If the answer is yes, then the price should be more than 10 mil euros which is not so bad.

We have RonaldoII
Adebayor needs to improve his finishing, positioning, his passing...those are basic attributes that a striker his age should have to a decent level. Bendter was in such great positions in that match...if Adebayor had sneaked at least one to him or Fabregas the scoreline may have been more lopsided.

Boriello is reiterating (channel4.com) how he won't come to Milan to be a sub....

Seems he is still taking whatever his girlfriend treated him with, and its starting to affect him mentally....

I cannot stand players with that level of arrogance, with only one season of impressive results behind him.

He isn't that much better than Gila, and I much preferred Gila's humility....he can stay at Genoa for all I care, and watch european football from the comfort of his couch, which might be more comfy than the Milan bench.

I hope we buy him, and loan him to some 3rd division club.

If we sign another striker next to him he can be third ;), after X, Pato. Inzaghi can be our jack in the box

It seems we do not have financial power anymore....or just do not want to invest big money.

Facts:
We bought Flamini for free!
We will buy Zambrotta and Sheva if the price will go down ?!??? (but it's up to Barcelona and Chelsea)
Our target is Borriello and Sheva instead of Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Drogba and Benzema because they are cheap and of course old!!
It's understandable that our management is trying to push down the prices, but we have to understand that young, big players cost big money!!

This mercato also shows us all the mistakes we have made in the past three mercato.
We are going to sell Gilardino, Oliveira, Emerson, Brocchi, maybe Oddo, loan Gourcuff and lost Ronaldo.... (all of them came in the last 3 years)
Only Bonera and Pato was good signing which is very sad!
Good job Galliani! In the past he used to make great deals, what happened with him????

I am getting worried, I know we have time left, but unfortunately till now the signs doesn't show me that we are going to make great deals... I really hope the management will step up and makes me wrong!

Plus Aulos, or whatever the Lyon president's name is, is really crazy..so let's see that confirmed in the next 24hrs b4 we start to go crazy....

And at the end of the day, its Lloris's decision where he wants to go and play, not ours..and if he feels that Lyon are a bigger and better club than Milan, then no prob.

When they parachute into the UEFA Cup, after failing to pass the group stage in the UCL, then Pato will scroe a hattrick against him, and that will be that.

Abbiati isn't a bad keeper either if it comes down to that (which I doubt).

The fact of the matter is he wasn't a household name in this forum before we were rumored to be signing him so nobody should be all up in arms about him signing for Lyon (if that happens). Couldn't have said it better.

One report said he was seen in Milan and Galliani mentioned him once or twice. But there is absolutely no reason this should be seen as a loss or someone outbidding us. (If one takes a look at North American sports its even possible to have a medical without even being interested in a player, just for evaluation of the options in free agency or drafts)

Guys take it easy. We are st.ill in may the transfer window is still closed, we have alot of time. If you guys have read Cezare maldini's interview you would know that we are in process of building a team who is able to win and achieve. They asked him about targets he said i will leave that to surprise the fans, alot is going on and trust me if the media knows nothing about the real deals. They keep on throwing names and names. Galliani and braida are working hard and hard, they cant lie to themselves, all the jazz they say about how milan is the most titled club through the whole universe is just an ego. We are getting our targets but we make rules since the players only want us, barca wants one package deal because they are sure at the end article 17 will be invoked, they said that galliani is using primitive ways. But they dont know that in the end they are going to bow and obey. The dumbest way is to pay the asked price. If we pay barca 25 mil for ronnies' contract we would be crazy, only chelsea do that. We've made alot of captures in the past and we know how to negotiate. Dont worry guys its just mercato fever where we check the news every 5 mins 24/7. Forza milan

I will bet that if no superstars arrive, Galli and Berlu will blame that on not playing in CL. But did we won the CL last year and still no superstars arrive???????
Interesting concept.

For crying out loud, it is not even June yet and almost everyone is crying about not signing who and who. Look at the big picture, have Barcelona, RM, Juve, Violo(Gila not offical yet), Roma, Inter, Chelsea(One RB signing), Pool(One RB signing), ManU, Arsenal, Bayern sign any players yet. Even if they did sign someone, is the name of those players, R10, C7, Drogba...........

There are a few reasons why teams will not make any signing in the near future b/c, Euro2008, as a lot of players price will be increase up to 50% due to that competition. Therefore, if the owner of the team is smart enough, they would not sell their players till after Euro2008. Thats also include players who are not playing in Euro.

Don't expect a lot of signing till after the Olympics.

Beside, we really should not read into too much of what the media is saying, b/c most if not all of the reporters are as clueless as us.

I have as much faith in the MGT as ever, b/c I think missing CL and INTER winning 3 Series A in a row will really bother Berlu's ego. Actually, I was hoping Inter beat us in the derby, b/c that might actually really piss Berlu's off and he will spend crazy.

Over and all, the time that we are discussing this and that, Galli and Brida might be already talking with Vargas, Zapata, Drogba, Dossena, Zambro, R10, Gomez and Cigrani all together.

I am not saying I won't be upset if Milan signs players like Borreillo and says that we got our WC striker......but like I said, this is only May, relaz and save your anger come early Sept.

I read this morning on goal.com that the Dossena deal might be in trouble as Italian clubs (namely Juve and Fio) have shown great interest and he'd prefer to stay in Italy. I'm guessing he's on Milan's list of potential players, along with Vargas.

i am surprised that Inter not chasing him too :rollani:
having him and Vargas is like a sweet dream. but if that is too much to be asking i will pick Vargas over Dossena.

it's always been a tradition for those who sell the newspaper that the team who won CL will always reported related to departure of their players. now is United's turn on Evra. i dont think Evra will even close to our door in Milano. good news about Quagliarella and Zapata. nice choice for talented players. Ancelotti admires them. on Sheva case... better for Milan not to take him back. i want new faces here. and Sheva just not qualified for that :D

Milan are on the verge of signing brazilian & Sao Paulo centar defender. Reports claim that a transfer agreement with 23 year old is almost concluded.

Good move Galliani :1five: :1ole:

this has nothing to do with the timing, it has all to do with attitude, galliani and brida again stating they are not intersted in certain players because they are expensive, and this is not a tactical procedure to get there prices lower, it is the way it is, since that what happend during the last 3 years or so, i don't know if you were watching the mercato in the past years, but we all waited, and ended up empty handed, or with cheap old lad, i do beleive we will get zambrotta who is 32, and coppet who is 35, and sheva who is 31 - 32, because they are ALL cheap, we are not running behind big targets if they exceeded 20 M tag price, we become something like hyenas, who eats from the lions left overs, we will wait the big spending clubs to take the good buys, and if any one is left AND fitting our bill(which is not a fancy one) then and only then we will take it.

my advice to my fellow milanistas, don't expect much.

Not a website I use, so I dont know how reliable this is.

Found this on wikipedia about him

João Miranda de Souza Filho, or simply Miranda (born September 7, 1984 in Paranavaí), is a Brazilian central defender. He currently plays for São Paulo on loan from french club Sochaux.

Was recently called up by Brazil coach Dunga for the friendly against Algeria [[1]] but was an unused substitute.

Mark my words.Im very happy that we are interested more for Eto than ronaldinho.Eto for me is better than Drogba.
For me Eto and Villa are the best strikers on the world.
He will solve our problems, and he will change our boring style in attack. He is the ideal striker, 25 goals each season.

I think it's because there is a worry that clubs are buying players sooner nowadays to get the talented players before other clubs act and not have to panic buy towards then end, especially when there can be less high quality players available at a decent price.

Clubs don't want to sell towards the end of the mercato because it means it gives them less time to bring in a replacement if they need it and it can also disrupt their preparations if the player in question was going to be used in the season.

Milan on the other hand, we go last minute discount shopping like students on a Monday night at Tesco. Buying early gives clubs the most time to get the player prepared and use to their teammates, even if it costs a little more to do this. Whilst no targets have gone 100% yet, it is disappointing to see them linked with Milan and then sign for other clubs.

I think the most frustrating thing over the past few years is that Galliani and co say we are after x, y and z who we will never buy as it's a typical smokescreen tactic and then get emmm nobody useful.

Galliani and co should keep their mouths shut and just sign players we need or do like he did in the past ie getting Nesta after being linked with Cannavaro for so long.

Comparing Drogba to any of the "greatest strikers" in the world is a crime!

Someone mentioned "current best", if that is based on the season that just finished and lets include all club goals (league, domestic cups and europe) then the "current best strikers" would be:

Torres 33 goals (beating records held by fowler, owen and many others)
Toni 39 goals
Del Piero 24 goals
Adebayor 30 goals
Benzema 30 goals

Droga only managed 15 in all comps this past season. Top world-class strikers should be scoring double that.

Some of you will point out that he was injured for most of the season. Lets cover strikers entire known club careers?

In his club career Drogba has only ever scored more than 20 goals in a single season in all club competitions twice. Lets see how many times the other strikers who apparently aren't as good as Drogba, managed to score more than 20+ goals:

Trezeguet 6 times
Henry 7 times
Torres 3 times (and he hasn't even reached his peak)
Del Piero 6 times
Toni 4 times
Eto 4 times
RVN 8 times
Sheva 7 times
Gilardino 2 times

World class strikers aren't born over night. They achieve that by performing and scoring like machines over many seasons. They hit 20+ a season consistently, not once in a blue moon. They are also match winners and can score from almost nothing.

Take Lampard out of Chelsea and leave Drogba behind and Chelsea would not perform. Lampard makes Drogba look good imo.

The stats speak for themselves, don't see how Drogba can be called a world class striker?

In the last 3 seasons at Chelsea, he has scored 40 leagues goals in the EPL.
The really scary thing is that Gilardino has scored 36 league goals in the last 3 seasons.

PS..the stats are from Wiki so might be missing a goal here or there.

Drogba is a kind of Toni: exploded when he was older ...
There are pros and cons to take Drogba:
+ he's powerful and enough technical
+ he creates spaces
+ unlike some said, he knows passing
+ he scores in important matches
- he scores in important matches (we need a guy able to score everytime lol)
-- he's 30 or 31
-- his price will be high (regarding his age)

About his mentality, nothing to say, he's not the devil some of people here want to make believing to others ... he was an example when he was in France, he has been/is a good guy in Chelsea, everybody writes about what happened with Ballack, but why do you put all responsability on Drogba ? They were 2 to argue, and Ballack just came back from a long injury, and before this injury, he wasn't a starter, he comes back and then wants to kick FK that are always kicked by Drogba ? If tomorrow Gourcuff who never plays comes to kick a FK that Pirlo was going to kick, don't you think they would argue too ?

As for the Gilardino-Fiorentina rumour, I would be sad to see him go. However the move might bring out the best in him again, which would be beneficial to the whole of serie-a and the national side.

Assuming Sheva returns and gets back to his best, keeping Gila might be a good idea.
They played very well together in the 05-06 season, scoring 36 league goals between them (19/17). That season Inzaghi and Kaka both hit 14 or 15 league goals.

The entire side was shouldering the scoring burden and Sheva was leading the line.
Then Sheva leaves and everybody expects Gila to turn into Sheva, which was too soon and asked too much of him.

Perhaps if Sheva had stayed, Gila would have had less pressure and could have become the "parma" Gila at Milan.

Perhaps a reunion would be the right medicine for both of them?

When the 08/09 season starts then we will officially know who our strikers are. Until then the debates continue.

He maybe wouldn't have scored 25 goals again but 20 per year was enough lol ... I think what you say is clear, he wasn't ready to be our main striker (and look at what could happen in Fiorentina, the main striker, I mean THE star of this team will be Mutu, so less pressure, a step back for Gila, but a good step back I think for him). Anyway, nothing official, he's ours and hope they'll keep him.

FIFA has agreed the law of "6+5 players" in teams (6 domestic + 5 foreigners, or contrary lol), which means that Inter, Liverpool, MU, Arsenal, Barcelona, etc (clubs that play with many foreigners) will have to change their teams entirely !! lol

So we can still wait a little to buy ...

Ten Clubs Want Vargas – Agent
Catania midfielder Jorge Manuel Vargas is one of the most sought after players in Europe as his agent Carlos Delgado confirmed in an interview with the ‘Daily Post’.

Delgado spoke about his client’s future which will be decided in the coming days or weeks due to the Peruvian player having many suitors, who all have to discuss the transfer with the Sicilian club first.

"To know his future, we will still need some more days, because many teams are interested in Vargas," explained the player's agent to the British newspaper.

Delgado also revealed the names of these clubs interested in his client and the price at which Catania would be willing to sell him.

"The clubs interested in him are Milan, Inter, Roma, Fiorentina, Palermo, Napoli, Sevilla, Tottenham, Liverpool and Real Madrid.

"His value? Catania are asking for 11 million pounds," concluded Delgado.

Agreed, he is a late bloomer. The 06/07 season he was amazing in the EPL but since then he is too in-consistent to be called "world class" or the "best" was what I was getting at.

Compared to some of the names listed, he does have better attributes however most of the "lesser" players score more consistently.

I don't mean to take anything away from him, but form is temporary and class is permanent.

Ok, so Milan haven't reinforced to some peoples liking over the past two seasons....does this mean that we will do the same this term?

This is the first time I have heard Galliani state the number of players expected to arrive...and still we are worried. :rollani:

Posters want us to buy buy buy, now now now....gimmie a break. We will buy when we are good and ready, and when negotiations are favourable to us.

If u cant/wont wait, then as some have decided, make up ur minds that only grandfathers will come, and then be pleasantly surprised when it doesn't happen...or, alternately, watch bowling, fencing, athletcs, whatever, to take ur minds off Galliani's bargain basement shopping, since u r so convinced that its our "modus operandi".

Again, I counsel the naysayers, harbingers of doom, end of the world prophets, and phans, to relax....as has been pointed out...few, if any, major deals have yet to be concluded by any big club for any players...but several posters here have their underwear all in a bunch, soothers (or thumbs) in mouth, and crying that they are not getting the toy they want, when they want it.

Its your club, but its not your money...we seem not to care how the club spends...as if Berlu is at the "Abramovitch" stage of his career....he isn't...he is looking longterm, while all some of us want is for him to spend £150M in transfers every season, or at the very least, this for this mercato.

When clubs behave like that, they become Chelski and Inter like...might get some domestic success, but tend to fail at major knockout competitions to "teams" ofen worth half as much...

The "doubters" also like to throw the last 2 or 3 mercatos at people like myself, who are willing to "wait and see" before calling our interim president names (gaylani) which personally is childish in the extreme...yet fail to realise that Milan was the first club to break the world transfer record, that we have a history more of making astute purchases, as opposed to Million £ flops (a la Inter and Madrid).

I have come to the conclusion that there are many dissatisfied fans out there, and quite rightly so....we haven't won any silverware in 3 seasons...oh wait, I forgot, this is Milan, not Arsenal...the same Milan who in December became the World Club Champs and the winningest club ever at international level?

And I hear the naysayers already: because we have these titles, we are going to be complacent, and buy some 30+ veterans...:rollani:

People: we will reinforce, we will have a stronger team next year, and we will win some silverware next season....if u don't think so, then why support the club any at all? (Shakes head in amazement). We are Milan...pity some of us don't realise this.

Gonna take a break from this thread for a couple of weeks, so that the naysayers and prophets of doom can wallow in their misery...can't afford to have u drag me into ur despair.

I remain confident that our beloved team will get the reinforcements we need, to be contenders next term.

Palermo opt for Abbiati
Tuesday 27 May, 2008

Palermo have deemed Marco Amelia too expensive and turned to Christian Abbiati to take charge between the posts.

Veteran shot-stopper Alberto Fontana started 30 of the Rosanero’s 38 games this term, but at the age of 41 his playing days could be numbered.

The Sicilians had been lining up Livorno ace Amelia, who will leave the Amaranto after their relegation to Serie B, but the Tuscans’ demands seem to be too great.

Palermo have now turned to Milan outcast Abbiati, who spent the season at Atletico Madrid.

The 30-year-old will cost a mere £2.8m – under half the sum Livorno want for Amelia – and Abbiati has agreed to take a pay cut for his three-year deal.

It looks set to be a summer of changes for Palermo after last season’s miserable mid-table finish.

Star striker Amauri will complete his transfer to Juventus today, while Cristian Zaccardo has joined Wolfsburg and Andrea Barzagli looks set to join Fiorentina.

Meanwhile, midfielder Fabio Liverani may be on his way to the Stadio Renzo Barbera along with Tulio De Melo.

-----------------------------

Corvino: Gila yes, Barzagli no
Tuesday 27 May, 2008

Fiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino is confident that the Viola will add Alberto Gilardino to the ranks, but is “pessimistic” over Andrea Barzagli.

The Tuscans are looking to strengthen this summer after stealing fourth place from Milan and securing a place in next season’s Champions League.

Having already moved for Slovenian striking starlet Stevan Jovetic and Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo, Corvino is now moving on to other targets.

“We have almost a desperate battle against Inter, Roma and Juventus to sign players because they have so much money whereas we have to rely on sacrifices from the Della Valle family and the nous of myself and Cesare Prandelli,” the transfer guru explained.

“Gilardino? He will be the most expensive player that I have ever signed – even more than Luca Toni.

“In my career I have become used to cooking with water, but this time I have used oil and I hope I can offer more tasty dishes.”

Azzurri defender Barzagli had looked likely to join Fiorentina, but now it seems that negotiations have hit a brick wall.

“I am pessimistic about Barzagli,” Corvino admitted.

“However, for the last three years our defence has been amongst the tightest in the League. We can win without him.”

Lyon defender Anthony Réveillère is also believed to be on the defensive shopping list.

“Réveillère could be useful to cover for the departure of Tomas Ujfalusi, but he isn’t the only option,” Corvino stressed.

“Angelo Palombo? We won’t be moving for him. We already have six midfielders and if we need one more we will research better. One could be developing in Florence or in Patagonia – we’ll find him.”

Modric in Tottenham for 20M €, what a price !! Do you want Milan to pay these sums like only English clubs and some other stupid clubs (Inter, Real) do ? And if he goes to Tottenham ... there's probably a reason (he's very strong and Tottenham has a big project, or he's not as strong as he seems and goes in a mid-table club).

For Pique, we don't know if he could be a good Milan player.

Like Modric, same case for Kranjar that I don't know lol ... going to Portsmouth ... if he chooses that club, he's not a guy deserving Milan, it's a bit like Lloris, if he don't choose Milan, then that would mean he doesn't deserve Milan (anyway I hope he'll choose us) simply because the guy doesn't think to be able to play for us.

Amauri is definately your personal choice, thoughts are shared between people thinking he's not enough good for Milan (I do) and others who think he's the next big thing ... umh.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson plans to go transfer crazy in the next two weeks, spending over £50 million on new signings.

The Mirror says Ferguson has told the Manchester United board he wants to conclude his £50million summer transfer spending within the next fortnight.

Top of Fergie's wanted list are Sevilla's Brazilian duo, striker Luis Fabiano and defender Daniel Alves, who are likely to cost United a combined 30million.

Alves is seen as Gary Neville's permanent replacement at right-back, but Fergie remains keen on Manchester City and England defender Micah Richards, despite his likely £20m price tag.

I think EPL sides need to realize that Brazilians do not like the EPL, no big name Brazilians i can remember has ever played there, except Elano.

If this is true, the Joao Moutinho, though may still be on their list, he isnt priority, and i really believe we can get him, with a part exchange for Grimi, Mountiho will be cheap, as i doubt lisbon will ask for more than 15mil. and Grimi will take of 4mil.

Come on Milan if R10 fails, look to JM28

Even though it seems more likely he will go to the EPL

You responded to my facts with speculation and opinions. If you don't know about the players I'm talking about then Irespectfully request that you not comment on them :wth:

You and Warro might be in your Kumbya mode but the rest of us are anxious as hell because we've been through this situation before. Milan only needs about $80 million Euros to CONFORTABLY purchase the THREE players we need Quaresma, Alves and Gomez. I'm all for patient, rational and competitive negotiation but in a world where clubs are trying to strike swift and hard our overly cautions approach is causing us to miss out on huuuge talents and potential superstars.

mrki, jim and I are STILL smarting over losing Torres and Babel. and it was against the backdrop of similarly fact-starved arguments like "oh he isn't good enough for Milan anyway" :5dito: FYI Modric is a HUGE talent waiting to explode....which the odds are all for happening at Tottenham....after which they will demand a king's ransom for if we want him (read "Berbatov" )

Even Fergie- who SOLD Pique lamented that he is one of the best in the world. If you have seen him play you wouldn't be making these arrogant/ignorant statements. Fergie's problem is that Pique is not yet quite as good as Ferdinand or Vidic but is good enough to demand a starting spot anywhere else in the world.

AS FOR the "Player X is not good enough for Milan" PLEASE WAKE UP AND LOOK AT our squad. Ambro, Kaka, Pato and Nesta aside they all have flaws and sometimes these flaws are huge. The above statement could be used in the Sheva/Crespo days NOT now.

Like Modric, same case for Kranjar that I don't know lol ...
Amauri is definately your personal choice,
I don't know Garay enough.
And Dru should come to reason, in his list, there's no W-C player like Warro asked for ^^

You responded to my facts with speculation and opinions. If you don't know about the players I'm talking about then Irespectfully request that you not comment on them

I didn't comment on the guys I don't know, tell me what I said about Garay for example ? About Kranjar, it was a joke, I started by saying I don't know him ...
Then, if you cut messages (like politicians :wth: ), we can all play like that to cut parts of other messages ...
And to finish, where is speculation from me ?? The only speculation I read was "Nasri in Arsenal" ...

You talked about facts ? You put Amauri in W-C strikers, is it a fact ? No, it's YOUR opinion, so I gave MY opinion about that player to tell you that YOUR opinion wasn't shared by all people ...

What is Kumbya mode ?
Anyway, do you think I follow my first mercato in Milan ?
I'm like all of you, I've been fan of Milan for years now and will be for decades (more decades possible lol), and of course, by being a Milan fan, I follow what happens each summer, and all I can tell you is that if you want "superstars" right now, play Football Manager 08 with Milan in May and buy those players, because in reality, whereas you give an enormous amount of money now, they won't be sold (I'm writing about Quaresma and Gomez).

Seems like you know very well Piqué ... but there is something you don't mention at all: Piqué comes from Barcelona youth department !!
He said many times his dream was to coming back to Barcelona, so even if we had offered him a big contract, the guy would have gone back to Barcelona.

Ok, so let's buy every superstar available (or not available, we don't care so, let's put all our money on table, let's have the biggest debt possible) and let's lose everything for the next 5 years !! But you won't be sad, we will have superstars and we will lose only by being in Top 3 in every competition ... I'm extrapoling of course (I add this small comment before you are again angry and agressive).

Seems like we can thank Abramovitch, by putting madness on the transfer market since he came to Chelsea, now every single fan wants the same thing in his favourite club ...

I am a bit unsure how a year mostly sitting on the bench made him so highly rated. It's the few performances that he made when he got the chance that made him that highly rated....If you think about it ALL young players make their name that way unless they have completely mind blowing exceptional talent like Pato or Balotelli. Other players Messi, GDS, Bojan have all earned their ratings off the bench based on a few performances where they were given the nod. Similarly Gourcuff isn't highly (at least not anymore or not as high as it once was) rated despite his talent because he hasn't been particularly impressive with the little glimpses of daylight Carlo has given him

I realize that this thread will take the same pattern of the Winter Mercato thread where the mods will generally try to pacify the frustrated users or make them look foolish for venting their opinions. I remember how some of the mods, Zlatanov in particular laughed at certain members' pleas for Torres, Sneijder and Quaresma. The end result is that each of the three is doing EXTREMELY well elsewhere. Zlatanov's only rebuttal is that the league they play is is far inferior to SerieA and that they would have still been flops in Milan. I will not continue to subject myself to people who try to insult my intelligence (or lack thereof :D ) all for the sake of defending management. I think I need a rest from this forum, because in truth no amount of ranting can bring anyone here. But the frustration results from others denying the dire situation that presently faces us and their subsequent attempts to make us look PARANOID. Zlat hugely disrespected many members last time, particularly mrki- who is just a passionate milanista- and tried to make us look foolish for our ideas. However the SAME players we wanted are doing soooo well that the joke's really on him. I notice this trend creeping up once more so as the bible says "before the quarrel bursts forth take your leave". I'd rather log out than quarrel and fight with my milan brothers. This is dru signingout till whenever :respect:

Peace and love to you all. :sweeteye:

dru, no one denies that the team needs lots of new blood, not even the management. The thing right now is everybody is thinking the world will run of out of superstars to sign before the end of May or June, believe me that will not be the case.
The 7-8 new players will come and some of them will super stars and some will be less known.
We will get the improvements but it won't be 7-8 galactico signings and thats a good thing.

I don't expect any new player coming to Milan before mid-July, except for the ones coming from Barcelona (and I'm not sure).

The fact is that our management, as poor is it, won a battle against a lot of other big clubs to take Flamini, but none of the people blaming this same management talk about that.

So let's be critical: all is not perfect (it's far to be perfect), but all is not so bad too like some want to say here ...

make them look foolish for venting their opinions. I remember how some of the mods, Zlatanov in particular laughed at certain members

I don't think it's what happens here ... for moment, it's just opinions vs opinions, unlike my English doesn't allow me to understand all lol ...

On the topic of taking a break or leaving the forum based on some opinions...Some make more sense to you or me and some don't. If one opinion is overwhelmed by others it doesn't make it wrong or right and there will always be someone who disagrees or agrees with it. If there are any personal issues, even involving mods, someone like an admin must be told and everybody will do their best to deal with it privately, but if its just opinions we are expressing its not a quarrel or a fight.

He said many times his dream was to coming back to Barcelona, so even if we had offered him a big contract, the guy would have gone back to Barcelona. That kind of nonsense means NOTHING to most players...what matters are $$$'s and playing time. When they get more of one or more they move....unless the player has special ties with a club. Pique many times expressed his desire to improve at ManU.

Ok, so let's buy every superstar available (or not available, we don't care so, let's put all our money on table, let's have the biggest debt possible) and let's lose everything for the next 5 years !! I'm extrapoling of course (I add this small comment before you are again angry and agressive)It's NOT about buying every star available....it's about buying what we NEED in this case it's stars. We are in a bit of a hole atm (ro haven't you noticed) and STARS are how you get out of the hole (see "Bayern Munich" ) Last year we could have just bought a couple reinforcements and have maintained our strength. This year the situation is more dire.

Seems like we can thank Abramovitch, by putting madness on the transfer market since he came to Chelsea, now every single fan wants the same thing in his favourite club ... Only losers go through life blaming others for their lack of success, like the Interistas. The thing is everything is crazy because of Abramovic's money no doubt but Berlu is no church mouse. Also the directors of the big clubs aren't stupid. They MAKE US fans and shareholders pay by raising the price of EVERYTHING witht their team's name on it. AM I to continue buying new Milan jerseys every year while the names on the back change from Cafu, Stam, Sheva to Ceasar, Boriello and Zebinna. No thanks!!
Listen GeoTav go continue to smoke a huge one with warro :whie: and in your euphoria reflect on how 'good' things are ok :wallbang: I never said that any of the transfers were world class I just listed the transfers that have taken place thus far. Most however have the potential to be world class. Oh and you can include Lloris to the list.

It appears that the only "transfer coup" you'll ever see in Milan these days is a shiny new ferarri the Berlu just bought

Selective memory, did you smoke with Warro and myself ? :neww:

For Piqué, you call that nonsense ?! So nowadays, a player is not able anymore to want to come back to his first club, his youth club, all is for money ... but like I like to say, if the guy LOVES Barcelona, and if he has choice between Barcelona (let's imagine ... 2M € per year) and Milan (4M € per year), I'm not sure the guy who loves Barcelona would choose Milan. If everything was like that, Gattuso would ask to go to Munich ... Kaka' and Pirlo to Real, etc.

Forza milan

What I can't think right now is why the management still haven't signed any single player who is NOT super star. I know we have still long long time to buy all players we need but if we can solve the problems that can be solved immediately, it's much better.

We ALSO need some of NOT-superstar players and I think this is the right moment to buy these players and give us more time to deal with WC player's club. We have to buy 7-8 players and also to sell some of our players. We should't keep thinking that we have time and time as time will be gone soon.

About Flamini, Galliani co. deserved credits to make him Milan player but not the 'short time' needed to bring him to Milan as many clubs chased him and it's absolutelny normal and very logic that Milan had to deal it in a short time.

Simple, Siregar. Because if you look at the way Milan manages his players and the club in general, you'll understand why.

Buying the super-star won't solve the situation; Chelsea and Real Madrid has already shown us that.

Nor is the management doing a great job in buying the RIGHT player, but at least we have some successful purchase in the past few years (and many failed).

We all are short-sighted: We forgot about Pirlo, Seedorf, (once for a while Simic), Nesta, Kaka` etc...

and we tend to lament: Ba (what?! you think we really going to play him? He is now a scout for Milan isn't he?), Emerson, R99 (oh wait, one person didn't lament about him :D), Brocchi (who btw did so well at Florence last year and people asked to have him back), etc.

It's like the stock market. When the price of the stock goes up, everyone is so happy; then when the price goes down (but still higher than what it initially was), everyone was crying that the sky is falling.

Some of us are expecting the management to be the superman.

The fact is: you make mistake, I make mistake, they make mistake. We all make mistake. But it seems that Milan has made mistakes in such a way that has earned us two Champion League in the final.

That, is something a lot of us don't see.

Re: Torres et al., I think Zlat has a valid point about playing in a different league; I'm not sure Serie A is the most superior, but I"m definitely positive that being successful in one league is not a guarantee a success in another league.

You want an example? See which superstar we sold to Chelsea and what he turned out now.

And you telling me league doesn't matter?

Question: What if we sign Torres or someone you highly rate and he is a complete flop? Or his style simply doesn't suit Milan?

You want an example again? How about ... well he is in Brazil now recovering. He is very good and suited us very well actually; but didn't the Milan management has trusted in him and now what? getting into some stupid news about sex scandal and, with so much trust put into him, only got injured again for 9 months, and got bad into shape as well?

Or you want another example? The all-so-hated Gilardino: We made him a complete flop. Now that he is going to Fiorentina, I hope he is going to be as floppy as now, because otherwise it's shown (again?) that Milan management has bought the wrong player. I honestly pray that Gilardino is really a flop.

***

What I"m trying to conclude here is:

1) Some see one side of the coin, some see another side of the coin.
2) Don't disrespect other posters who see the other side of the coin.
3) Don't be arrogant about your list: Show us how he has really earned a starting place in Milan. Com'on, even Gilardino earned it by scoring like 24goals per season twice. Or R99 for his past achievement. Naming someone unknown and says that, 'he scores 90 goals in Hong Kong league' virtually means nothing.

***

@dru: Honest question: If pique is so good off the bench, why isn't he played more frequently when Man U is playing on all front? surely Ferguson won't be as oldminded as our mister Ancelotti :)?

@Warro:

You ask for a list (not from me, but I realize I never put up one):

1) GK: Buffon, but now impossible. Very difficult to see who can replace Dida/Kalac. I would rather go for Boruc from Celtic; he has experiences in CL and he is GOOD, really. Otherwise the young dude will also work, but I'll be a bit skeptical.

2) DF: Zambrotta is perfect. I really have no idea about DF.

3) MF: Flamini is a good signing, though I would rather see him another season in action. Afterall, he only did great this year. Again, I have no opinion about MF.

4) AMC: Bring on Ronaldinho. Seedorf-Ronaldinho-Kaka rotation (i.e., not all three of them play) will be fantastic and what is needed to fight for both Scudetto and CL in the future.

If not Ronaldinho? Ballack will be my pick. He is strong in the air, something that Milan lacks. He can shoot from afar, and is creative. I think Milan should have signed him really.

5) FC: Eto'o or Drogba. No one else qualifies. Drogba can shoot from nowhere and scored all of a sudden; of course his passing is poor but hey, let's not criticize other when we have an Inzaghi. Eto'o can also add speed and that will be important too.

I think Drogba - Pato - Kaka will be a fantastic trio.

The mercato is really as simple as that. Some says Drogba is old: For God sake he can really shoot even in small spaces, and is great in the air, something MILAN IS JUST LACKING especially in the Scudetto race when we have NO ONE to head the ball in except Ambrosini!

More than welcome to see your responses to my list...

First of all, no one can score 90 goals in one season, but a scroing record as emphatic as that should impress anyone, no matter what league, and i take this as you are pointing out Huntelaar, well i dont care about anyone else opinion, but i would love to have him in milan, if we were to buy him, that doesnt mean, he will be the only striker, but he is a great goal scorer, and if you think he can only score in the dutch league, well look at his international figures, he is quite impressive, and i would definitely prefer him to boriello and amauri.

i understand your opinion on ballack, as i have alot of respect for him, but he is on the older side of the spectrum, and would be very expensive due to his more recent performances in Chelsea, however their are more AM, that could work, instead of ballack, and #1 on my list is Moutinho, then Nasri, Van Der Vaart, Diego, etc, however apart from JM28, i dont see any of them being able to play with Kaka IMO. why Moutinho, great passer, young, leadership capapbilities, creates for others, and can score if necessary, AKA "RUI COSTA the 2nd" I would still consider him if we got R10, and with the use of grimi, he can be reletively cheap.

Either you are a great talent or you don't yet cut it. We are talking about one of the biggest clubs in the world and coming to them after having sat on the bench most of last season. Gourcuff for example was a starter before he came to us. It is far from certain in most cases. I can think of loads of young defenders that I personally think is better.

I realize that this thread will take the same pattern of the Winter Mercato thread where the mods will generally try to pacify the frustrated users or make them look foolish for venting their opinions.

People differ in opinion. It is that simple, state opinion or argue the point.

1) Not really referring to Huntelaar; he was never in my sight. I was just using an analog. Your argument is fair enough; What I"m saying is that you need to have shown some consistencies in a high-level league in order to earn a place in Milan.

And that's why I said I'm not sure about Flamini later on...

2) Perhaps; I'm no big master. I would prefer VDV among your choice. Perhaps Moutinho, but i have no knowledge of him so I can't counteract your point.

3) Yes I miss Benzema. Not sure about Adebayor; he is not as clinical as I once thought (after seeing him in playing against Arsenal).

Also, remember that we want someone who can score in big time, NOT someone that we call complain alot: Gilardino. Can Adebayor do it in crunch time? Those are the types of players we REALLY need in the long run; we don't need those who play well in domestic league and only to be a flop in Europe (i.e., Gilardino).

That is, of course, very difficult to judge. Even Pato hasn't proven himself in CL with this respect...

Mourinho coming to Inter would be the most scariest news of this transfer season for us and other top teams. We will have some really tough time playing against his Inter. Right now, the only thing Inter lack (from my POV) is discipline and Mourinho is a champion in making a team disciplined. We must sign great players before we lose them. We can certainly forget about signing Drogba since he has fatherly love towards Mou (I mean who would cry if a coach like Mou left your team). Also, we must sign Sheva so that he will have the incentive to prove himself against Mourinho

This may be a good news for the league because he would sign great players and his charisma (or p!gheadedness) would certainly bring the league in spotlight.

Wanna talk Milan Material? Let's examine OUR present SQUAD. There are only THREE (3) players that ARE Milan MATERIAL :Kaka, Pirlo, Nesta

In response to Warro's list I will now NAME THREE PLAYERS IN EACH POSITION THAT ARE MUCH SUPERIOR to the the players we have at present (no disrespect to any of them):

DIDA
Buffon, Cassilas, Cech

KALA
Alex, Ferdinand, Vidic

JANKU
Evra, Cole, Marcello

ODDO
Alves, Ramos, Maicon

Gattuso
Essien, Vieria, Cambiasso

Pirlo
Fabregas, Gerrard, Anderson

Seedorf (in a wide position)
Ribery, Quaresma, Figo

Seedorf (CAM)
Totti, Diego, Ronaldinho

Inzaghi
Drogba, Eto'o, Torres

Of course it's far too easy to continue the list for the likes of Gila, R99 ( it's true :( ), Simic, Ambro (all due respect), Flamini Digao etc etc

So again I ask you "What IS Milan Material"? To me the phrase has now become vacuous since the departure of Crespo, Sheva, Cafu, Stam, Maldini, Rivaldo, JDT, Rui

I think you mistunderstood me Jeff. What I meant that why we haven't signed any player who is not WC player or super star?

I do think, that we also need some unknown players (not-yet WC players/superstars) for our backups as ourbackups are not so good. But in this case, Milan haven't signed anyone except Flamini (of couse he is already very well known) whom Milan had to sign him very soon otherwise other club would sign him.

I understand, it needs time to accomplish the signing of big names. And we still have much time to buy all players we want but IMO at least we should buy those players I mention above in this stage so we don't have to rush in July or August to complete all our transfers.

Modric not world class? maybe before 3 years... i watched him regularly since 2004,2005... he has it all... consistency, stamina, pace, dribbling, creativity, technique, MAGNIFICENT passing, even free kicks, performs in every big match... he only lacks strong shot. world class midfielder..

he is way better than Seedorf or Deco. trust me in that... and yes, as drucurl says, we've became too arrogant.

Agree on most of what u`ve said...but this is plain wrong....Cesc and Anderson haven`t done anything yet to be compared to Pirlo..Gerrard is there, but its anyones guess....

Pirlo is twice CL winner, and a World CUp winner(arguably the best player of the tournament) and a player with unique talent. We have struggled to replace him since the day Carlo put him in that position against Juve.

Dru:

In response to my list, you present a new list. Instead of defending your original argument, you start another? :dontkn:

The point is bro, we were debating world class transfers already completed this season to date. Few, if any of those you mentioned, I would consider worthy of Milan.

That you find so many players better than the ones that we have is neither here nor there...we all knowthat there are many players in Milan who arent generally considered world class...but for eg...Rino, he isnt world class?

Which by the way, is my definition of being "worthy" of a Milan shirt....or, if not, having that potential, which is subjective, and nebulous in and of itself.

So, the same way you consider a world cup winner not to be world/Milan class, is the same way I consider him to be world/Milan class...its all subjective bro...my criteria can and does include being a World Cup winner, and still not past your sell-by date...eg Rino.

Only time will tell if the three players you consider world class on our team will be supplemented by others...only time will tell who we buy this mercato.

So why panic now? Why despair yet? Why not save the stress for something really important? Like thinking about what Ronaldo did b4 he discovered the "females" were really "shemales" after all... :str:

Until R10, Adebayor, Drogba, Etoo, Deco, Marquez, Zapata, Zambrotta, Vargas, et al are all sold, [and not to Milan] and I see the press conference with them holding up their new club´s shirt, I will remain calm cool and collected.

And dont hate, :d33: just because what I can get in JA tops what you can get in T&T...appreciate!

only we that follow Croatian league and Croation national team can talk about Modric, however his yet to prove himself on the big stage....and I`m quit sure Warro will know what Modric is capable of after EURO :1five:

to those who said relax and don't panic, the clock hasn't even started yet... that's true.. but when we wake up and rush, all the needed players are settled down with either our rivals or some clubs in germany. the point is to act fast, kill fast ppl. you guys really think flamini would have signed with us knowing that we won't play in CL next season? he signed after we won inter. and yeah.. we can relax until after euro and then buy players with double price (if we still act and lucky), or end up with old and left food from other club.

to those who do examine the rumoured players saying they are not worth or world class to play for us. sorry but i have to say we are way too aggorant and yet havent done any real investment in wc players recent years, except for nesta and kaka. its kind a dilemma, ppl want wc players, but they are expensive and we wont buy, and the rest are yet-to-be wc, but a little (still) expensive and our scout are too innocent to see that and we won't buy either. and in the end we end up with players like emerson, brocchi, or, in another familiar script "we are world champions and we don't need to buy anyone b/c they are not".

I wouldn't put Anderson there as yet but I'd DEFINITELY put Cesc there. Cesc does all what Pirlo does for us (ball distribution and breaking up counter attacks at times) PLUS he adds direct assists AND goal scoring. What's not to prefer about that ? The only thing I'm not sure about is whether Cesc takes free kicks or not.

P.S. Yes I saw Pirlo at the world cup but for some reason or other he cannot replicate that sort of form with Milan.

There is talk about Milan going for Evra which IMO is an excellent move, I heard he's asking for a lot of money from United and there maybe trouble brewing.

Also with the talk about Modric you must understand Tottenham is on the same level as Chelsea when it comes to buying players, they have a sugar daddy in the form of Levy. Paying over 16 million on raw talent is a very very big gamble, a gamble which I hope pays off for Modrics sake - however I'm not sure he can excel in an environment like that of Tottenhams. I'm still recovering from the amount of money they paid for Bent rofl.

All valid points, which raise 3 interesting questions:

1) Are we good at training the not-yet WC players/superstars? Gourcuff, Gilardino... Milan doesn't seem to be the best place for that. There are Ajax, Arsenal etc. who do a much much better job.

2) Do these players fit well with our system? We do have a 4-3-2-1 system, sometimes 4-3-1-2, with two wingers who can't cross, if you will :). Gila is supposed to do well, but he flops completely partially because of our system (or simply he is a flop).

3) Are these players willing to come to Milan only knowing that they are going to spend most of the time on the bench? We have Gourcuff as an example. And think about it: IF Gourcuff can't make it and impress the coach during training, and he is supposed to be one of the top talents, then why will Milan be able to train up these non superstars?

In the future if we want to challenge for the Scudetto and the CL, we need, like Kaka` says, 20 champions. Not just the starting eleven.

That's how Man U succeeded this year, right? :)It will take us a lot of time to succeed on both fronts, and the club has decided mostly to concentrate on the CL. Man U did it this year but hey, they haven't won the CL until like 10 years later. So, in my opinion it's a trade off.

Can Man U do it again next year? I don't know; it'll probably depend on luck as well, but the point is clear: you need great players on and off the bench (not like Brocchi) who can do great when they come on the field. Not easy, but that's how you want to win trophIES in one season.

DIDA
Buffon, Cassilas, Cech None available for transfer this season, LLoris, Boruc and Gomes could be...not against any one of those coming, and they still can!

KALA
Alex, Ferdinand, VidicAgain, only Alex maybe available, and he would be very expensive...easily 20M pounds....worth the risk? Hmmmmmm :dontkn: And Zapata is a target, and not yet sold..so again, why worry?

JANKU
Evra, Cole, MarcelloNone available for transfer this summer....but arent we targetting Zambrotta/Vargas?

ODDO
Alves, Ramos, Maicon Only Alves is available, but we all know he would cost as much as R10 and Zambrotta combined...prefer that option personally.

Gattuso
Essien, Vieria, CambiassoAgreed...but again, only Essien would probably be available, and again, would cost huge sums..easily 20M pounds, and we already have Flamini...and Viera, is done. Rino has one or two years left in him...more if he comes on as Flamini´s sub after the 2 years.

Pirlo
Fabregas, Gerrard, Anderson You got to b kidding me. None of these is as good as Pirlo, and none are available. NONE.

Seedorf (in a wide position)
Ribery, Quaresma, FigoFigo? When, 3 years ago? Certainly not now, and certainly not when Seedorf is fit. Quaresma has to prove that outside of Portugal, and Ribery, well, he is class, and would be one of the few I would supplant Seedorf with, the other, R10, or Messi...and lets not forget, Carlo wanted him, but was denied, because we had Gourcuff...which admittedly didnt work out that well.

Seedorf (CAM)
Totti, Diego, RonaldinhoR10 is on his way..or havent you heard? :D Diego isnt sold yet, and so is potentially available, and Totti is way too old, and wasbetter than Clarence before this season, but not now. No way, he is too injury prone.

Inzaghi
Drogba, Eto'o, Torres And yet one of these 3 might find themselves in a Milan shirt this season..so what are we fussing about, in the last week of May...like its Sept 1 or something?

In response to my list, you present a new list. Instead of defending your original argument, you start another?
The POINT is that just like you can find better players than I listed, I too can find better players to what exists in our present squad

The point is bro, we were debating world class transfers already completed this season to date. Few, if any of those you mentioned, I would consider worthy of Milan I wasn't debating about world class I was merely talking about good players that would have fit in well. Quaresma and Alves ARE world class imo but Gomez is as yet only a good but largely unproven player
That you find so many players better than the ones that we have is neither here nor there...we all knowthat there are many players in Milan who arent generally considered world class...but for eg...Rino, he isnt world class? No he isn't...certainly not of the Bekenbauer, Roy Keane, Rijkaard or even Vieria or Cambiasso ilk. Gattuso is passionate and a motivator for sure but in terms of his FOOTBALLING accomplishments he offers precious little. Many of his tackles result in fouls/free kicks. Thankfully he's reasonably efficient (so on a good day he can contain most attacks) and fair (so that he doesn't get carded all day)

Which by the way, is my definition of being "worthy" of a Milan shirt....or, if not, having that potential, which is subjective, and nebulous in and of itself. Then how about not using it say till we're back on top of the world/CL again :respect:

So, the same way you consider a world cup winner not to be world/Milan class, is the same way I consider him to be world/Milan class...its all subjective bro...my criteria can and does include being a World Cup winner, and still not past your sell-by date...eg Rino.Reasonable definition I must say but of course this would necessarily exclude the likes of Nedved, Figo, Torres, the whole Argentina team.....while INCLUDING the likes of Emerson, Edmilson and Roque Junior when these were at their peaks. Wanna revise that statement ;)

Only time will tell if the three players you consider world class on our team will be supplemented by others...only time will tell who we buy this mercato.agreed

So why panic now? Why despair yet? Why not save the stress for something really important? Like thinking about what Ronaldo did b4 he discovered the "females" were really "shemales" after all.. :nervous: Ahem moving right along.....

Until R10, Adebayor, Drogba, Etoo, Deco, Marquez, Zapata, Zambrotta, Vargas, et al are all sold, [and not to Milan] and I see the press conference with them holding up their new club´s shirt, I will remain calm cool and collected.

And you say this because you know Galliani and Braida are as we read this, in Tahiti (or Jamaica) on a beach sipping a Piña Colada and watching girls in bikinis?

You dont know what they are doing, so how can you make these statements with such confidence. Every day almost, I read about Galliani flying here and there to negotiate...we are working...if you chose to think we are twiddling our thumbs, and not going to buy, that we are going to field a team of 30+ year olds, and win nothing, again I am forced to ask...why do you support this club if you feel the management (and owner) dont care? Wouldnt it be better for you to quit? I dunno..just asking, not trying to spark a fight.

(Nor am I saying you are not a good fan, or that I am a better fan than you...just want to understand how someone could think so negatively, and yet consider himself a "supporter" of a club. Kinda undermines the whole meaning of the word "support" doesnt it? U kno, like thru thick and thin, for richer or poorer, till death do us part? If you think your wife is cheating on you, or that you cant take her morning face anymore, wouldnt you leave/divorce her? If you think this owner/management are stupid, cheapskates, and thieves, why support the club? Arent there other better run clubs out there?)

If its a dilemma, it means its not usually going to be easy to fix..or else it wouldnt be a dilemma!!

There is no way to determine if a player will be an absoloute success...or failure. But I chose to think optimistically about this...if you chose the negative/pragmative view, you are so entitled. Have fun with it! Milan are arrogant, yes, I agree....and we deserve to be. We want players who will sacrifice, work hard, sit on the bench if told to, and perform when asked to.

Its called being a "gentleman, and a professional". Those are really hard to find nowadays.

Have you scouted before? Are you as scout? Are you aware of who our scouts are? Do you know if the same scouts that chose Kaka, are the same ones we have now? Do you have a crystal ball? Can you predict the future? If so, who will we/wont we buy? Please dont keep us in suspense! This whole thread could be closed! Think of the time we would save!!

Wanna talk Milan Material? Let's examine OUR present SQUAD. There are only THREE (3) players that ARE Milan MATERIAL :Kaka, Pirlo, Nesta

So again I ask you "What IS Milan Material"? To me the phrase has now become vacuous since the departure of Crespo, Sheva, Cafu, Stam, Maldini, Rivaldo, JDT, Rui

You do have a good point but with milan material I think we all mean players that are among the best in the world.
What you post means that the request for beter players is justified.
We can't have 22 of the world's best players I think we all agree on that but we used to have a lot of them, in recent years the best left en were replaced by youngsters that failed and with has beens. I think it's management job to have a balanced milan with
a) in every line real star players aka Milan material. Players that every other team envy us for.
our goalies are all over 35 (Kalac, Dida, Fiori)? what means they aren't on top anymore you can give names of players keepers that were much older and were fine but they were exceptions and had a diffrent way of playing than dida.
Our defenders? we have no proven backs, I hope Oddo and Janku can prove me wrong next year but let's face it no other top team would want them if they had the chance...
We have no wingers (not necessary if we don't want to use them in our formation)
We don't have a classy striker that is so good he's the first our coach puts on the gamesheet a player that defenders fear. Yeah we have pato but he is still to young it would be a crime to make him our lead striker right now, inzaghi has still his moment but is to old (With all due respect of course) if he can play the way he did like last couple of games then I'dd shut up but he was more injured than fit last seasons. (We all had our hopes up for Gila and allthough I still believe in him I'm affraid he will get sold).
Our midfield is still world class IMHO, but we do lack depth. Although with the arrival of Flamini this could be partly resolved.

b) potential future stars that have space to grow
for now I only see Pato and maybe Paloschi but the fact that they both are strikers isn't that good. young Goalies? none
young defenders? Digao is here becoz of his brother and that's smart form milan with him here kaka has a connection with milan, Bonera isn't that young anymore now is he allthough I do like him, he can't be compared with what we had in the past, yet...
Young midfielders? Gourcuff he didn't got to shine but I'dd give him some more credit again the arrival of Flamini brings the age back down a bit.

c) players that are a back up, that should be used when we have a gap to fill in. I'm not going to give all the names coz there are to many of them

As for your list I don't agree with all of them for instance I do reckon Gatusso to be the worlds best for his position and Vieira isn't that good anymore, I saw some games of inter and I didn't understand why he didn't got substituted.

final conclusion. We need a goalie , a back and a striker that can deliver immediatly that is milan material aka players that are among the best in the world in short term, players were other clubs envy us for. like Gatusso, kaka pirlo and nesta they are our backbone our foundation. But recent years our solid backbone crumbled to these four players so now instead of creating a natural growing proces it's time for major transplantations. (Something I'm not to fond of but I don't see another option. The longer we wait the harder its going to be.
Next to that we could use a younger very good central defender to link up with Nesta and we could use a younger central midfielder to finally have a decent back up for Pirlo)
if for example milan decides to buy an old proven keeper such as Coupet I won't be to happy, if they decide to go for Lloris (who is not a starplayer yet) and put him between the sticks, I'll be more happy coz I trust the management in their good judgement and hope he is what we need but if he turns out a failure it would be their mistake and if he does he proved himself not to be milan quality. Is ronaldo good enough? he spent more ours playing soccer on his playstation than actual soccer, Emerson? Brocchi? Simic? They all have a good hart and are good back ups but they should start any games for milan coz they simply aren't good enough.
It's not that our players have turned old over night this was a problem that is talked about for years and what happend? Every year we signed old players. So management messed up time to put things straight.

Isn't it my right as a fan who wears a different Milan jersey at least twice per week and stuck a milan key chain on my dad's car keys and asked for a Milan jersey as a present from my gf....to at least express my disapproval at what seems to be the systematic dismantling of the GREAT Milan through utter negligence/apathy?

EVEN the Ultras acknowledge that we have been betrayed by management. Who are we (as fans in the Caribbean) to further defend them in light of what is now an orgy of evidence?

If you think this owner/management are stupid, cheapskates, and thieves, why support the club? Arent there other better run clubs out there?)I support Milan because of their philosophy and ideals not only because of their successes or efficiency. That would be a gloryhunter.

If its a dilemma, it means its not usually going to be easy to fix..or else it wouldnt be a dilemma!! It's NOT a dilemma. It's QUITE SIMPLE. 1)Milan needs certain type of players 2)We need to buy these players whatever the cost else the problem won't go away 3)Problem solved

Can Man U do it again next year? I don't know; it'll probably depend on luck as well, but the point is clear: you need great players on and off the bench (not like Brocchi) who can do great when they come on the field. Not easy, but that's how you want to win trophIES in one season.

J

But we can't have all World Class calibre in our squad IMO just like other clubs like ManU, Barca etc. Thats why I think we still need not-WC players. They could be young but pretty mature player (around 23 yo), mature players (over 25) who are starting line up or stars in the middle clubs, etc. These players are of course not only to sit in our bench but they have also possibilities to take part or even take othe players spot. We had kind of these players seasons ago like Serginho (at the beginning of Carlo era he was not starting line-up), Ambrosini years ago (he was substitute for Gattuso), Vogel, Pancaro (who even took left fullback spot), JDT, etc.

I like Kaka's opinion about 20 champions (like more Berlusconi's idee to have 18 champion players who are similar level with our champions) buit I think we need more than 7-8 wolrd class players to make that opinion real.

From our squad the champions (according to me) are : Maldini (? next year), Nesta, Kaladze, Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini, Seedorf, Kaka, Pato, Inzaghi (10 players). So, I think we need ten champions including 1 high calibre GK to add to our squad to fullfil Kaka's desire.

Back to my question : Why still we haven't signed players who are not-WC calibre? We shouldn't rush near the end of mercato to buy kind of these players.

AMAZING: Barzagli joins Zaccardo in Wolsburg ... and his contract is "only" 2M € per year ... (drucurl, don't you think he could have earned more elsewhere ?).

Is Wolfsburg a top-club in German League and/or a strong club in Europe ??
Can't understand these weird choices.

I have a gut feeling that both of them will report to Bayern Munich within 3 years.

im watching the france ecaduar match

Flamini is playing, Ben Arfa had some good runs, nasri is playing well also, however i havent seen benzema or Gourcuff or Menez

Gourcuff ?! Menez ?! :hah2:
I think the goal of Domenech is to try to win Euro ... lol

I didn't see the match but saw that Gomis scored twice for his first selection ... this guy is amazing, he's a complete copy of Adebayor, but younger and already doing good.

Benzema probably didn't play because this match was used to eliminate 6 players from the list, so th eonly ones who played tonight were the ones in balance and the ones needing to play ...

I think too, but they could have been bought already by Bayern ? lol
If Lucio (replaced by Barzagli) and Sagnol (replaced by Zaccardo) leave, who else than 2 partners to replace them ?

It's why I'm really surprised ... whereas it was a big joke and they don't go anywhere ? lol

Sid Lowe, theGuardian´s resident writer in Spain, nominates the following, from the article in the link below

http://blogs.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/05/27/its_the_sids_2008.html:

Team of the season

GK: Iker Casillas, Madrid.
RB: Dani Alves, Sevilla.
CB: Gonzalo Rodríguez, Villarreal.
CB: Fabricio Coloccini, Deportivo.
LB: Joan Capdevila, Villarreal.
RM: Wesley Sneijder, Madrid.
CM: Marcos Senna, Villarreal.
CM: Seydou Keita, Sevilla.
LM: Santi Cazorla, Villarreal.
S: Sergio Aguero, Atlético.
S: Dani Guiza, Mallorca.

Now, of these, a few are good enough to play for Milan...Guiza is a broken player on a resurgence, who had a good season, and may never again have such...kinda like Gila, except he has a nightlife issue aka R10....Coloccini failed...spectacularly...so..

GK: Iker Casillas, Madrid...agreed..maybe the best in the world..also unavailable.
RB: Dani Alves, Sevilla.....agreed..maybe the best in the world..unafordable
CB: Gonzalo Rodríguez, Villarreal...first good season? Could be a risk..dont know him...anyone?

LB: Joan Capdevila, Villarreal...:dontkn: anyone?
RM: Wesley Sneijder, Madrid....definately would like him over Seedorf..just try getting this guy from Madrid...not happening.
CM: Marcos Senna, Villarreal.....we have Flamini, Rino, and Ambro..who are almost, if not as good, or better, depending on what we are comparing...if he is supposed to have a creative element, he isnt in Pirlo´s class.
CM: Seydou Keita, Sevilla.....again, Rino, Ambro, Flamini...and gone already. :moan:
LM: Santi Cazorla, Villarreal...never heard of him...could be available, but do we want this type of player? :dontkn: I kno nothing about him...maybe we should target this guy? Let me call Galliani right now..the useless bum must be sleeping.
S: Sergio Aguero, Atlético.....100M buy out clause? He aint going nowhere except Chelski...and I am sure RM fancies Messi more.

So there you have it...about 8 or so players not mentioned on this thread overmuch, that were regarded by a journalist (but a good one) as the best players in La Liga last term...and not many would get a starting role automatically, or be deemed worthy of a place on the bench..well, maybe for Oddo and Marek...we have to do something with those guys at Milanello....sheeesh.

I asked him for the names of 5 players or thereabouts, who are Milan quality, who have already been transfered since the seasons ended in Europe.

I think it is time to wake up and smell the roses here. Our management have given up on signing players Milan quality for quite sometime now. It used to be that being signed by Milan is an honor and previllage by itself. At one point, only the best of the best were worthy of even putting on a Milan jersey. This team once had Baggio, a top candidate for world player of the year sitting on its bench; European player of the year Papin couldn't even gather a starter spot in Milan. And nowadays, we sign guys like Emerson, Oliveira, Gourcuff and Favalli to use as our big name transfers for the summer. If those guys are "Milan quality", then everyone on Dru's list are very very much Milan worthy.

This is not true. Flamini is a good start, rest I will judge when this transfer season is over. also, you can't compare with the 90s, Berlusconi was the ONLY one spending big then, today players go for sums higher than the world record transfer he did back then. It is another market.

im sure they taught about silva and villa, but problably didnt follow up after hearing the prices, aguero and pato are similiar, and milan arent known for getting argentines. i doubt villa style will fit the italian game, and were so caught up with R10, there is problably no chance of getting Silva.

These are fair points, but imagine if Milan went through a dismal season with the likes of Vogel, Tomasson et al., trust me they would have been bombarded by people here just like we are blasting Gourcuff, Emerson etc. now...

If we need 7 - 10 players to make it real, let's make it. But what makes you think that we are not capable of achieving that? The only reason I can think of is finance because of the tax system in Italy...

Pato is far from being a champion. He is a guy with great potential; with one year or two he will one (if he keeps producing like what he has done for the past 5 months).

Already answered your last question in some of my and other people's post, so I'm not going to spend the time replying ;). The major reason is that there is honestly no need to rush; also players may not want to come if they are in fear of losing first-team spot (see what Lloryis is doing to us now; comparing us with Lyon? Jeees....);

It's difficult; it's more than just playing FM and you can sign everyone. In real life, transfer is a lot more complicated. You can of course splash $$$ like Chelsea and Real but hey what do they have really? (except Real but honestly, is there still competition in Spain? :D)

Still I dont understand why we just wait and wait. I am not saying that I want Ronaldinho, Zambrotta etc must be signed right away but at least 1-2 not-WC players in this time before Euro and it's not rushing IMO. It's just a matter how to solve problem as soon as you can if you are able to do it and not wait and wait till you only have little time to solve the problems. And I am sure management are able to do it.

About players who may not want to come to us, we shouldn't buy that kind of players. It shows that they are not prepared to play in Milan. They want only to be so safe and 100% guarantee to play every games. They should play in their mediocre club till end of their career so they can be starting line-up every season or even move to smaller clubs to make their status in the squad much safer.

About the 7-10 players, aside the tax, I also consider the tranfer fee as the barrier. If we just take 1 player costs 15 mil euros, then we must spend at least 150 mil euros this season. I doubt we have that much money only for 1 season.

Well, it's unlogic to compare with FM. We are in real life and what we discuss is not FM stuff and could be done in reality. Just look at Barca who has signed Keita and Pique (which actually higher than I am expecting from Milan). And we know Milan's condition (need of players) is worse than Barca.

About Pato, he is not yet champion but he is starting line-up material. We can count him as 'champion' because I think what Kaka means that we should have 20 players who are similar qualites among them not like Milan now in which the substitues are so far below the main players with respect to the players' qualities.

Will a player to be a flop in a club? It's the risk that every club have deal with. Actually, not only flop players gets bashings or something like that, standard players also gets bashing. Every lost produce players who will be bombarded by unhappy fans.

Merda's wet dream a.k.a CL title still haunted Moratti. so the special one who already brought that cup to team namely Porto would be replace Mancini. but TBH i think Mancio is better than Moaningho (but still my blind hatred for Merda is number one). but if it's true then i'm very glad that Moaningho will be coaching Merda because that would be one good addition for reason why i support Merda :tong:

Yeah...summer mercato finally , its time for rebuilding our squad.Several people here in this forum went crazy about our transfer policy others just remain calm and patience.

I think we still need 2-3 world class player or internationally proven in order to meet our objectives next season scudetto and perhaps UEFA Cup.The name likes Drogba,Frey,Gomez,Benzema,Eto'o,Ronaldinho should be enough for our squad.

But I believe also Milan need a new fresh member hunger for title, full spirit of glory and not to mention young. Lloris,Zapata,Vargas,Cigarini for example. We need to sign 3-5 players like these to rejuvenate our squad.

Perhaps our and other clubs problem. We can't sign 7-8 players at the same time,i will satisfy if 4-5 players with proven ability comes.

We will see in the following weeks

So many questions, so little time.

Wow.. long and inspiring post... It would be my honor that this thread is closed because of me sharing my opinions in here. So let me take your points now.

You thought I knew what Galliani and Braida are doing right now. In fact I don't know for sure. To answer your question about my confidence when making the statements, I made them based on what I have seen in past few years. And those are facts. Certainly things that happened in the past are not meant to happen (again) in the future, but we can based on those to predict what will happen, based on their similar signs. Now back to the topic, it looks like the management are backing up with some of the players we want when it comes to the money. This happened in the past which resulted in us not getting the players we should have had.

Now, as we all agree the management are actually working hard (I've never doubted this fact), it comes to the next point, the result. Working hard doesn't guarantee you can get a result always. Working hard, and in the right direction, on the other hand, do. OK Galliani has been flying back and forth to Barcelona to negotiate about Zambro and Dinho, but as we all analyzed here, they are not players that we should sign. Dinho does not fit on the pitch in one season but instead in bed (for both sex and injury) and dance floor. And we still want to buy him because we looked into his past, and when he comes, he will be 29. It does not make sense to me to pay more than 15 mil to pay for such a player because the risk is too high. About Zambro, all we need is Vargas or whoever that is, who can be more energetic, young and hungry for success. Not another 31+ player again. This smells like Emerson from last season to me. While we are considering ourselves one of the biggest club in the world, and while other biggest (and less successful) clubs are chasing targets such as Alves, we just don't care about him as we think he's too expensive. Plus, Zambro indicted he wants to go back to Juv where he left, but as Juv transfer people know he's not a good investment, they didn't link with him. And I heard we are talking to Erva to get him free next season (when he will be 29). What a dream and it's just so ridiculous. People think Sir Alex and the whole MU management are that innocent to let that happen.

You asked me why I support this club when the management and owner don't care. Let me ask you, why not? Why can't I support a club because the management? And I didn't say they don't care;) My point is they work, they care, but are not willing to spend, and not work in the right direction. And don't remind about the WCC, the Supercup, we are investing for next season, not the previous one. I support this club because of the specialty that it has, such as the history, the fans and the players. Why do I have to not support it anymore when some upper people just don't do the right things? To me, players like Kaka has every right to leave this club and not to be called traitor. Look at how hard and devoted he fought for this club last season when his left knee needed a full treatment. It could have costed his career if something bad happened. And why did he have to fight until his knee was tearing apart and had to be in the operation for 3 months? That is the cover the butts of those who ask 15 players to play in every match for the whole season, in 5 different cups. If Gattuso leaves, he must not called a traitor because first he is a professional player and has the right to choose where he plays for, and second, it was the lack of ambition of the responsible people to invest in success and future. These kind of attitudes make Milan so different from other clubs, and I see no reason for me not to support it. And no, I won't spark a fight with you as you thought, as I see it's ridiculous for 2 adults to fight in a thread, but not to debate our points. What I am really surprised is, as a Moderator, you should have a better cool head than other posters here, including me.

I never think you meant I'm not a good fan. Your reaction toward me only proves that you are a dedicated fan of Milan. If our opinions are different, it doesn't mean we can't support Milan together. And I don't see what's wrong when someone thinks negatively about things that are being done to help the club, can't be called a supported, either. Looks like you are married so you know all the "till death do us apart" stuff, and I'm not married. You make assumption (again) that when someone who doesn't like the board will walk away from the club in your "wife's morning face" example. Again, for all the reasons I discussed above, I don't see why it is wrong when I don't like the board and still can support the club. Again, you used your assumption too much without clarifications and thoughtfulness.

Change to the 2nd part. You said we deserve to be arrogant to require players who will "sacrifice, work hard, sit on the bench if told to, and perform when asked to." Yes, those gentle-men are full in Milan. Look who we have. Emerson, Brocchi, Janku..? Yes they are sacrifice (their place for others to play because they don't have the talent), work hard (in training, and they are not 1st team anyway and when they are in line, looks like their working hard is nothing), sit on the bench if told to, and performe when asked to (perform but not performed well). Having all these gentle-men does not bring the CL spot does it? (Again, don't mention about the WCC and SC, because they were at the beginning of the season when the 1st players are still in fit). So now, gentlemen and success, which one do we choose? I guess you would say both, yes? And do we have that kind of players in our squad right now (except for those who fought until his knees told him to stop ;) ) and are we looking into bringing those kind of players into our team for next season? Moreover, if we think we deserve to be arrogant, then go buy Torres, CR7, Messi... It's just ridiculous if one thinks he deserves to be arrogant yet not being able to even window shopping those players.

About the scout part, I think we have some problems of understanding each other. I spoke of the people who can make decision in buying players.
- No, I have never scouted and I'm not before. But this does not mean I can't comment about our scouting system. We discovered Kaka, plus all the failures, so should we praise them or take them down? Thing is success comes so little, but failures come more. Look at other arrogant-deserved club like MU, Arsenal, to see where our scout level is.
- I can't predict the future, and I don't know who we should/should not buy, because I'm not a scout and am not paid for doing it. And those responsibilities you are talking about are exactly of what a scout should be doing. They are professional and trained to do that. Of course they can't always guarantee the success every time, but statistics should tell, and to me, the chance that Milan can build a good squad seems to be low, because we buy the wrong guys. That said, our scouts are not effective as they should be, and that does not mean, our scout are rubbish either (just in case you use your assumption again).

I think in the end you seemed to be getting angry because of my post and if that was the case, then I'm sorry. Certainly I don't want to hurt anyone here, I just raised my opinions as a normal poster like everyone else. And thru this, I can see how much you love Milan and that is actually a very good thing for a Moderator like yourself. If you have more questions to come, I would be glad to share with you my opinions. But you need to keep in mind that if my opinions are negative or different than yours, doesn't mean they are wrong and not to be said.

So, peace out :)

While we are considering ourselves one of the biggest club in the world, and while other biggest (and less successful) clubs are chasing targets such as Alves, we just don't care about him as we think he's too expensive.

And I heard we are talking to Erva to get him free next season (when he will be 29). What a dream and it's just so ridiculous. People think Sir Alex and the whole MU management are that innocent to let that happen.

To respond:

1) We all know that. Working hard in the right direction is important, and the Milan management has failed in the past in terms of bringing in talents and foster them. BUT: which team has really successfully done it AND win trophies?

- Arsenal: Well, starts off well, energetic, fast, beat milan... trophyless. (in a year or two they will be a champion... haven't we said that for the past 5 years and yet what happened? Flamini left, FOR MILAN (lol), Hleb on the verge of leaving but who knows... etc.)

- Chelsea: Shevchenko as prime example of failure, though he was the perfect person to bring in at that time I suppose. Robben etc.... you don't need me to repeat.

- Real Madrid: Dont think I have to say more than that...

Thus, your argument that bringing in these new players with new blood will bring us trophy is, at least based on prior results, without sufficient evidence.

2) Seedorf, Pirlo etc. all are the 'unwanted' by Inter Milan, and we turn them into a gem. We also have R99, who we actually turn him into a good player before he... (oh well). And how about Inzaghi who, at that time, everyone accuses him of diving and not knowing how to score and now become a real champion with Milan?

You point to players like Gourcuff, Brocchi, Emerson etc, but you have unfairly attack the management because you have neglected those who have been successful.

And of course, let alone Kaka` and Pato. Let's not talk about Pato, I'm not as inclined as others to make judgement; but for Kaka` there were people who said that he wouldn't fit so quickly. Then? Is it Kaka`'s ability really or is it the management's ability to bring him in quickly? I know there are counterarguments like Chelsea wanted to bring him in etc. but you need to understand that it's Milan who brought and bought him at the end. Chelsea had the ability to fight with Milan, but they did not. Milan won and brought another CL.

And R10 at the age of 29 is old? Are players supposed to retire now at the age of, 26?

ON another note; It certainly makes sense to pay $24M for a player who scored 24goals for two seasons, AND YOUNG like 24yrs old, right?

Then?

Even the most promising investment can turn into a joke. There is no guarantee success. One can save and load game in FM; you can't do it in real life.

p.s.: It's laughable how some people applauded the buying at the time and then acted like they were expert knowing that Gilardino wouldn't succeed.

3) I'm sure no one will say that Zambrotta's performance during last world cup is horrible. He was 30.

Try leave out of a country for a few months; you'll understand how it can significantly impair your performance.

4) Emerson was injured before he came to Milan; Zambro is not. Emerson was not a world champion before he came to Milan. Zambro is. Emerson was in bad shape when he came to milan due to poor training scheme at Real Madrid. Zambro is still playing.

What makes you smell of Zambro as Emerson?

***Note: Emerson actually played well during his few matches when he was fit. If you remember me the few home games I talked about... ***

5) Not sure about the situation with Alves. So no comment. My counterargument is: How do you know that MIlan did NOT go for Alves? Did you know that Milan go for Drogba a few seasons ago secretly and presented Chelsea a price, only to be rejected because Morinho didn't want him to leave?

It's in his autobiography. I think that's more trustworthy than any other online source.

6) If you think that Alex Ferguson is not so lame about letting Evra go NEXT YEAR, then why do you think that Galliani and Briada are crazy enough to think that Alex Ferguson will let him go?

Are the management SO DUMB about that? Do you really trust the source of the news.

Bottom line: Evaluate the source of the news. It can be that the writer ran out of story and needed to write something, ANYTHING, about Milan.

They have to. They have to guess. It's their job. Maybe they have hit something. Maybe you can too write a paragraph tomorrow saying that Milan is going to buy Adebayor. Coz I simply run out of story...

Cheers

GALLIANI: "Col. Barça is a chess game"

The vice-president of Milan, Adriano Galliani said the entry into the League Soccer: "For now our portieri are Abbiati, Dida and Kalac in strict alphabetical order. If part Abbiati (it's already Palermo, editor's note) comes another goalkeeper. Confirm that we are following Lloris. Gilardino? Today meeting the managing director of Fiorentina, we see what happens. Eto'o and Ronaldinho? Barcelona is a workshop dear, is a chess game. "

What this mean?!?!?!

Sorry, I just skipped past the last few pages without reading most of them. The posts are really long. One thing for sure is, there has not been this much discussion adn passion for a long time. Lets enjoy it, I say.

One point I would like to make. Remember when we signed Nesta. We did it literally at the last hour of the transfer window and got one hell of a deal for a TRUELY WORLD CLASS player. Manchester United on the other hand payed 30m for Rio Ferdinand :uhm:

While we need to show urgency in the market, we cant just throw money around that can be used on other players. Lets at least wait til the end of the Euro Champs and see where we stand there. In the mean time lets dream about Benzema :zany:

--------------------
rinogattuso, dont read too much into any thing Galliani says. Hes not exactly known as the most "honest" person in the world. But he usually cant keep a scret, so the fact that he is after Bucktooth Ronnie means we will probably get him.

To be honest, this year is the first year that Galli is openly talking to Barcelona for their players. B4, there were only smokescreen.

I still hope for Zapata, Vargas, Dossena, Dessena, Cigrani and Drogba

For some reason, I really hope guys like Gomez, Benzema, Aqualini and Cesc will struggle, that way Milan can buy them cheaper.

whats wrong with menez

He has potential, he's not that good nowadays ... he never was a top-player yet. He's far from Nasri for example (and when I say that, don't forget I don't like Nasri).

There is just something not to forget: negociations are between our management, agent/player (if you're allowed) and then club ... so you have to negociate with 2 parts.
Why did it go so quickly with Flamini (I say quickly but we don't know when negociations started) ? Simply because for his case, there was no club part to deal, only negociations with the player/agent.

It's what I like in Milan, they don't offer a maximum just to get a guy, they are smart enough to try to negociate prices, if someday Milan was becoming like Chelsea or Real, I think I would stop watching football ...

I would even add "let's wait until end of July", if in July we have no reinfocement, we will have to worry, but not before that time ... oh, but don't dream too much about Benzema !! lol

A slap in goal.com's face:

Abbiati Denies Palermo Switch

Abbiati is on the lookout for a new deal after ending his loan spell at Atlético Madrid, and Palermo seemed to have signed him after AC Milan accepted a €3.5m bid for his services.

However, despite reports in the Italian press stating that the move had already taken place, Abbiati's official website reports differently.

A statement on his homepage read: "Christian Abbiati denies the news published by various media sources in the last few hours about the completion of his transfer to Palermo.

"He will carefully evaluate all proposals received before taking a decision shortly."

Atlético are said to be interested in renewing their deal with the 30-year-old Italian international, although this would necessitate more negotiation with AC Milan.

Catennacio: I am glad u didn't take offense, as none was intended.

My point remains though, that I (me personally) wouldn't want to be associated with anything I felt so negative about.

At my stage of life (again on a personal note) I have no time for negativity, and find it difficult to relate to people who seek the negative, instead of believing the situation can change.

Your post, if u reread it, is so chock full of negativity, that it provoked a reaction.

Don't for a minute think that because I am a moderator that u can't argue with me....a thread without any difference of opinion would be boring beyond compare.

So, I can only encourage u to be a bit more positive, and release the chains of pragmatism that seem to bind you.

I was one of the most negative, pragmatic, "glass half empty" people around, and now that I have changed my viewpoint, I am a much happier person.

On another note: Amauri still hasn't signed officially for Juve? And look how long have they been after him!

Yet many continue to think that transfers are things that can b resolved in mere seconds. :rollani:

Please, let's stop with these lists that mean nothing !!
Gila seems to be sold for 14M € ... you think you can sell Favalli for example for 3M € ?! I don't know any club enough mad to pay that amount of money for a 36yo guy !! Same for Dida, Gourcuff, etc ... Ronaldo's contract is ended now, he's no more a Milan player.

And for prices of players you want us to buy, you simply can't know what price is asked: look at Lloris, apparely, Lyon would offer 10M € to Nice to get Lloris. Vargas price has been put at 13M € by Catania. Montolivo at 5M €, what a joke ? etc ...

I don't think your numbers are right at all.
Lloris might be right sheva perhpas on loan but all those incoming transfers are rated way to low most cases I think our offer would have to be twice what you posted. While the outgoing transfers are rated way to high if they leave it more likely be for free, ore we will have to pay them out to get rid of them. I don't think any club would want to buy such old goalie for that amount (Dida and Kalac). Ronaldo's contract expires aswell so again he can leave for nothing etc

Don't agree. Pirlo and Seedorf were in their Mid twenties when they came and their abilities were beyond dispute. They weren't rated highly. Zambrotta, Emerson and Co were/are OVER thirty and are atm living off their old rating/reputation
ON another note; It certainly makes sense to pay $24M for a player who scored 24goals for two seasons, AND YOUNG like 24yrs old, right

3) I'm sure no one will say that Zambrotta's performance during last world cup is horrible. He was 30.

Try leave out of a country for a few months; you'll understand how it can significantly impair your performance That's a poor excuse and usually employed by the OLDER players who's experience doesn't count for much because they are in a totally different environment. Flaws that would have been hissen due to their experience are now in the Open. Henry, Zambrotta and Cannavaro have suffered this way and can complain all they want about their new surroundings.....but you'd hardly hear that from young hungry players like Torres, Tevez, Diego, Anderson etc.

I think that's more trustworthy than any other online source.I think I and by extention most of the fans would feel happier if we were to KNOW about these transfers. The fact that the Drogba approach was so hush-hush is a clear indicator that the probability of him arriving here was very small. Of course clubs sign players out of the blue all the time.....but it's usually the case that the club MOST linked to a player in the press/news media ends up getting him. Our LINKS atm are not very encouraging. While you might counter that the links don't account for much and the management is under no obligation to expose their-behind-the-scenes-deals, experience has taught us that when we aren't linked with anyone good we end up getting crap. Experience has also taught us that when we are linked with a highly improbable/difficult transfer the odds of getting that transfer are very small.

To people who keep talking about Nesta. Yes Nesta will rank as one of our best transfers ever....but that was nearly Seven Years ago. Is that how long we have to wait to get another one? If so we aren't behaving like a top club at all.

negotiating player prices of course is a must for economic benefit. but wasting times too long for negotiating can make things worse.
remember in season 2006/2007 when sheva gone and no one seemed coming to replace him ?
how much milan spended for a RO at the edge of summer transfer window because we lacked of strikers while no one closely to deal with in days to come. 15 million for a player who had just recovered from injuries, right ?

no need to hurry in market i agree. but dont be so slow for chasing our needs like we did within the last 2 seasons :)

spot on! Silly season is yet to begin so there is no rush needed yet I think milan mangement has lot's of work 2-3 transfer are not enough and with the EC and OG coming up it wouldn't be easy to deal with some players for a certain period. I still believe that management will do their job right!

At start, this topic was "who can we take ?" ... it was cool, we were able to discover some players.

Now, this topic turned into a "optimistic opinions vs pessimistic opinions" ... that has no sense to still argue, optimistic people like me who think that our management will do what has to be done won't turn into a pessimistic point of view because some people say everytime that our management works poorly etc ...

And from what I can read, people with a pessimistic point of view won't change their minds too and will still want, even if we get the best players in world (I'm pretty sure of that, even if we get Ronaldinho, Torres, Montolivo, Zapata, Mexes, Vargas and Alves for example, some will say "poor management" etc), our management to be sacked, and I have only one thing to say to these people right now: if you really want that, become shareholders, then you'll have power if other shareholders listen to you ...

Like this topic has become a bit "stupid" (the topic turning to an argue ... read before lol), I won't post anymore here, no interest.

No Keoke, they won't.

The past several years have shown us that Milan are a club that are not serious in the transfer market!

We have only bought players over 30, and will continue to do so.

Maldini and Nesta will play until they are 45, and then, when we r in Serie B, we will then try to rebuild.

Galliani and co are not doing anything in the market....waiting and waiting it seems....and forwhat? An old washed up party animal like R99? Has beens like Zambrotta?

They are just laundering the clubs money for their own pockets!!

We can't even sign a goalie for goodness sakes! We have to sell Dida or Kalac first! Who will buy them? No-one! We will keep them, and Inter with Mourinho will humiliate us in the derby!

He will bring Drogba, Lampard and Quaresma to Inter...and they will win both UCL and scudetto!

Flamini? Who is this? He is going to fail! He isn't a star! He has barely made the French national team!

We need Benzema, Vargas, Zapata, Mexes, Alves, Drogba and Nasri, or we can be assured of a relegation fight next season!

Haven't u seen how the other big teams are snapping up talent? Inter, Juve and Roma have all brought in superstars...while we sit and do NOTHING!!

In Europe, Real and Arsenal are buying all the available talent! Not to mention Barca, Man U and Chelsea.

The mercato will end and we will be scrambling for the same type of old refuse from other clubs that we always do.

Right now I am kinda confused on who to get Ronaldinho or Eto'o. A few seasons ago I argued that Ronaldinho woulnd't fit in and Eto'o is the ideal candidate to take Sheva's spot. Now I'm have doubts after I seen how bad Eto'o has performed late this year.

Here are the arguments-

- Eto'o is younger than Ronaldinho by 3 years
- Ronaldinho would be bought for 20m euro (for sure it wont be higher because of the Article 17 rule), Eto'o would be bought for 25-30.
- Ronaldinho seems to be friendly and knows our players well, his attitude is also very good as he is no primadonna like Eto'o.
- Ronaldinho would bring more money selling T-shirts, and season tickets, and will bring more fans than Eto'o would. The idea of a new Ka-Pa-Ro is giving me butterflies after how the last one worked so well.
- We really do NEED a player like Eto'o, but I think Ronaldinho can do that role pretty well. As long as we play with Seedorf-Pirlo-Rino we will be ok, we cannot play with 2 DMs again.

I am edging more towards Ronaldinho and I really think that he is going to come. We got Oliveira because I personally believe we just wanted to improve relations with the agent, Berlusconi always wanted Ronaldinho. Milan and Dinho have been flirting for a few seasons now, it's bound to happen. After all the recent quotes from De Assis (his agent) I really believe that we will sign Dinho...I just hope we dont sign both Eto'o and Dinho. I'd much rather Sheva.

Wow am I glad that Gila is gone, its like I've been cured from AIDS.. :1ole: Good luck Gila, hope he does well for the sake of Italian football.

I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about. Our first 11 this year, when fully fit, was without a doubt one of the best teams in Europe. It has been for the past 5 or 6 years. We had the same first 11 this year as we had last year. The problem is that the squad lacks depth. Our run in the Champions League last year was a perfect storm; Our key players hit form at exactly the right time (Kaka/Seedorf/Dida/Gattuso/Pirlo specifically) around the Bayern game, and sustained it towards the end of the season, culminating in the 3-0 win over Man U. Had we suffered from the same bad luck last season as we did in this one, we would have crashed out against Celtic or Bayern, and struggled to make 4th. Our good luck with form and injuries last year hid the lack of depth outside the first 11, and our bad luck this year exaggerated it.

We do have a problem with depth, but our first 11 was fine. Of course, now that Dida and Ronaldo are out, we need a new goalkeeper and striker to replace them. Cafu and Serginho will be replaced by Zambrotta and another full back. That would mean that our first 11 next year is:

4321: ???, Zambrotta, Kaladze, Nesta, Jankulovski, Ambrosini, Pirlo, Gattuso, Kaka, Seedorf, Pato

4312: ???, Zambrotta, Kaladze, Nesta, Jankulovski, Ambrosini, Pirlo, Gattuso, Kaka, ???, Pato

No one can argue that this first 11 on its day is not a first tier team. The ??? will be replaced with quality young(ish) players, I have no doubt about that. Lloris would be a wonderful signing, Etoo would be a perfect fit for our game. The triangle of Kaka, Pato and Etoo would be a bolt of lightning thundering above an impregnable Milanese defence.

Now we have two problems. 1) A lack of depth, and 2) a viable alternative to our Pirlo-centric formations (the 4321 and 4312).

Ancelotti has proven that this tactic is brilliantly balanced against top sides that alternate tempo and attempt to play football, but as we all know, its useless against small teams that lock up. The reason is that the advantages Pirlo gives you with distribution and vision aren't really what's required against those teams, since they defend so deep and he's so far away that his long balls won't work without the space to run after them.

The only way to break down these teams is with physical force, and wing play that spreads their defence wide and opens up space. For that to work, you need quality wingers and a strong target man. Milan has none of these. Not even one quality attacking winger (Serginho is gone). Its pathetic. We don't need the best wingers in the business. We don't need Messi. We don't need to build our team around world class wingers. All we need are two wingers willing to sit on the bench for the big games, but players who can provide Ancelotti with the versatility and options he so sorely lacks. Having Bonera push forward to try to cross the ball to Ambrosini is just sad.

The lack of depth problem is easier to solve, and they're on their way to doing so with the Flamini signing, which I believe is a brilliant signing. A couple more like that and the depth problem is solved. The squad needs to rotate, and Flamini can take over from Pirlo, Ambrosini or Gattuso. 4 more versatile players are all we need. Again, not world class players, just good ones.

Sorry I went so long, but i'm just trying to point out that all this talk about buying world class players is not what this team needs. The balance in the first team is there, the talent is there and the harmony is unparalleled. What we need is depth and versatility. Not a revolution. I trust that Ancelotti and Galliani know what the team needs better than all of us. Being great means you respond well to failure, not that you never fail. Give them the benefit of the doubt and be patient.

That's more like it :o
Notice I deleted the part about Ronaldo :D

Where are those fans who wanted him to leave so badly? Where is the celebrations? The confetti? The parades?

I was pretty surprised at the team he chose, however he has always preferred Diara over Flamini. I remember earlier on in the season when Diarra basically played no games for Arsenal what so ever Domenech put him straight in to the team. What made me laugh was no Sagna or Clichy, who have been voted in the PL team of the season at full backs.

Abidal to me this season has been the biggest waste of space.

Still no Trez? and Anelka in the team?

Galliani is not stupid. Berlusconi's ego did not die. They will buy a world class striker. When they wanted Pato, they got him (even with all the other teams circling). They wanted Kaka, and they got him. Now there is an urgent need to fill the gap left by Ronaldo and Gila. I don't believe for one second that the management won't fill this gap with a quality signing. Once that's done, we're set to start the next chapter. Stop the drama and grow up.

Actually, Domenech isn't an ass like said Warro, he's what goes out from asses when people go in WC ... :grinser:

Flamini was called for his first time, so it was sure he wouldn't be taken for Euro.

Trezeguet wasn't even called for the pre-selection of 30 players ... and it's true, I don't like Domenech, but why taking him whereas he never scores with France in Domenech' system ?

Lassan Diarra is Domenech's favourite ... so don't worry if he's always called in French NT while Domenech is the coach.

Gomis has taken "Cisse's place", he will probably won't play like a starter, but anyway Domenech wanted him because he can be called by Nigeria or Ivory Coast (or maybe none of them but another African country).

It's not a secret, Domenech and Mexes hate each other (there would have been a story between Domenech's wife and Mexes in past lol) ... and like he was injuried against Inter, he had an excuse not to take him.

Mexes has the same problem that Trezeguet, Pires and Giuly all have with Domenech ... and it would be, for Pires and Giuly, related to a past story with Domenech's wife ... it's so funny !! :grinser:

Im kinda upset why we can't finalise 1-2 deal involving youth but hot prospect future players like Lloris,Cigarini,Zapata, while we already have 24 million Euros after Gila and Oliveira's sale. Lets say our board is so stingy that they wouldn't spent much. But hey with those sum we can sign Zambrotta and 1-2 talented players above.

Then, we can focus to purchase to sign world class players we need because I believe especially after Euro it will be hell of a battle for sign players.

Or perhaps rebuilding our squad will depends on who is our coach next season >

If I was Zapata, i'd have doubts about coming to Milan this season. I know I won't take the place of Nesta, and I don't think I can replace Kaladze either. So why leave now? Why leave a team that assures me a first team spot, heightens my visibility so that when an availability in a top team arises I can take it. That was the mistake Gourcuff made, and I don't think anyone wants to repeat it. Also, I doubt Milan want to pay Zapata the wages he would expect to get and only use him as a sub. You can argue that this is what happened to Emerson, but maybe the board is learning from that mistake. If they believe Zapata can be a starter, then Kaladze would have to be dealt with. Both are too good for the bench, so you can only have one to partner Nesta.

Edit: CB's and the GK are probably the only positions that don't require heavy rotation. The stability that comes with a week in week out performance, and the partnership that develops is essential. Having 3 great CB's is not a good idea. One of them will miss out and suffer. Competition is great, but so is stability. And you can't pay for too many great players.

Gabriel489

Good point BRK, but if Zapata is sign, Kaladze can move to LB

brk
28-05-2008, 10:55
Kaladze was a pretty good versatile player back in the day. Remember he started off as a left midfielder. Right now, though, he seems to have made CB his only option. Its strange that when Kala and Maldini play together, the older Maldini played in LB; a position that requires far more stamina and pace. That makes you wonder if Kala really has it in him, or if he refuses to play in that role anymore.

Gabriel489
28-05-2008, 10:58
Well, true to that, but what about Flamini, I am sure one of Pirlo, Flamini, Ambro and Gattuso will be bench. Same case with Zapata, if Milan do go hard after Zapata, Carlo will have more options, such as two of Nesta-Zapata, Maldini and Kala. Also, Kala, I believe have the skills to fill in Pirlo's spot a game here and there.

brk
28-05-2008, 11:01
Here's something to discuss: We don't need a Pirlo clone. That was the problem with the Dhorasoo and Vogel purchases. At one point the board considered Corini. Pirlo is irreplaceable. His talents are pretty unique in world football. The closest you can come to a comparison is Fabregas and maybe even Scholes these days. What the team needs is an alternative formation that does not depend on Pirlo.

Wings. Target man. Spread the small teams so thin their walls will begin to crumble.

The main formation is great. In fact, in my opinion, its the best formation in the world since its the only one that allows Kaka the freedom and space to dance his little dance.

Trying to plug Brocchi in there against Napoli is what destroyed our season. You can't replace Pirlo, so don't even try.

Galiani said for Zamrotta's transfer:“The difference today, just as yesterday, is £1.5m,” Galliani explained. The player wants to play for Milan and the Barcelona directors know that and I hope that a deal can be done.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a joke. These statements are making us a joking team and not a world class team. The difference is so litle and Milan wants the player.Barca wants to sell the player,we want to buy him, barcelona is not asking the big moneys and Galiani said the difference is 1,5m pounds and he can't find an agreement.Who are we Parma,Atalanta,Modena or Bologna and we cant solve that 1,5m pounds situation? For me the biggest problem of our club firstly is Galiani. And i don't know if behind Galiani is Berlu who tells him to make transfers but as cheaply as you can, and if you can't sign world class players less than 10m pounds then don't make any signs.I dont know what is happening with our team, and what they are trying to do for the future of that team. But those statemets from Galiani are awfull for our club.
As for his others statements about Eto: “As soon as you set your sights on a player they ask for £20m, £30m or £40m – the kind of sums that aren’t compatible with anyone’s budget.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Galiani is an idiot even Man. Sity who wanted Ronaldinho were offering as Barcelona wanted to sell the player, eccept us who wanted him in the half or more litle from the Man Sity offer. And in the case of Eto, i would say that if Eto is a world class player,if he is a proven player,if he is still in good age then he really deserves 20, 30 or even 40m because he is in the top 3-5 of the world for his role! And you know what,Eto really deserves that price!

My god i really wish that we can loose Ronaldinho,Eto,Zambrotta and Drogba because our manamgment are awfull. We are loosing many good players each year but our managment is making the wrong desisions on the transfers. When Bayern was buying Toni we were buying Ronaldo or Oliveira. When Barcelona wanted a LB they bought Abidal and we Favalli. We cant buy anyone and in recent years noone will want to come to us instead if we offer him big big big moneys not because he will love to play for our team!

From know i will never talk for anything unless officilal news, and i will talk only in 1 September 2008.Untill then i will say many times what these team needs but until 1 September i will never talk for any transfer rumours or any Galiani's statement.
The team wants the fans back to the San Siro to support our team, but with those reactions and statements they make us to go more away from San Siro.

Also, Kala, I believe have the skills to fill in Pirlo's spot a game here and there.

Of course, one of them will be benched, most likely Gennaro. The second half of last season, he barely finished a whole game. What's up with that? Did he burn himself running his heart out all these years? Anyway, Flamini was too good to turn down. I'm sure if his price tag was 10-15 million euros, Galliani would have thought twice. I doubt he will start every game, unless Ambro or Gennaro suffer a serious dip in form.

Also, Flamini is a great way to start solving the Pirlo problem. Not by replacing him, but by allowing the team to play a 442, or a 433, with Ambro - Flamini behind Kaka, who was two wingers and a target man in front of him. Pato can work as one of those wingers, actually. He tends to like going wide to cut in behind defenders. Gennaro really sucks in this role that Flamini would be in, since his distribution is terrible. He always seems nervous with the ball, and tends to look to Pirlo to save his ass, or just pass it along to Oddo. Whenever he tries to do something positive, he ruins it. He needs Pirlo to survive offensively. Flamini doesn't, and in my opinion, neither does Ambro.

If the difference is so little, then Zambro is ours. If there was another team willing to jump in and pay that 1.5, then he would have already joined that team. Galliani knows Barca will sell, as they have no option. Eventually the teams will agree on a price. You need to cool down, bro. There's no shame in getting a good deal. I'd rather have a competent director controlling my team than a vain or insecure fool. Galliani is not an idiot. Sure, sometimes his declarations can be annoyingly optimistic, but when it comes down to it, he's a realist. We'll get Zambro. We'll get a striker. We'll get a GK. We are Milan, and you need to remember that.

Sure he would. I'd also like Messi in case Kaka has the flu, and Ferdinand to give Nesta a rest once in a while.

Its great to throw around all these names, but once a player reaches a certain point, he expects to be playing every week. We already have 8 or 9 players like that. Hell, even Borriello is demanding a starting spot!

Sorry for the sarcasm, i'm all out of positive wit.

Edit: All i'm trying to say to you people is that you can't buy a world class player unless your team has a vacancy in that department. You can't wish for Zapata (whom I consider to be better than Kala) unless your team has the space to accommodate him. We currently don't. We have space for a GK, LB/RB (Zambro), a world class striker, and a bench striker (Borriello)

Great Post!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best post I've read here in months and a great change of pace from all the annoying and CHILDISH arguing going back and forth the last couple of days...

Isn't he at least better than Kaladze, Bonera, Simic, Digao :wallbang: Tell me oh GREAT BRK "WHO IS GOOD ENOUGH TO START FOR MILAN" :scream:

In that list, only Kaladze and Bonera are first team players. Kaladze's form has been on and off. He had suffered from some injuries too. Bonera hasn't got enough chances to play as a CB but whenever he did, he played very well and "up to the standards" of a top class Serie A team. Both of these players are on par with Barzagli. On top of that we have Nesta. This trio of first team CBs would work for us for at least 3 more years.

Simic is a back up and Digao is in Milan because of Kaka. In short, they are second team players. So you can't compare Barzagli to these 2 guys.

Considering the overhaul required in the Striker and Wing-back positions, our needs for the CB position can be put on hold for a year at least.

Hence, I beleive that we shouldn't dig deep to sign a CB, in fact, not dig at all!

Sure he would. I'd also like Messi in case Kaka has the flu, and Ferdinand to give Nesta a rest once in a while.

brk, I have to disagree. Ferdinand isn't that great to be honest. He makes too many silly mistakes and loses concentration to often.
Vidic makes him look good, take Vidic out of the defence and ManU wouldn't have won the league and ucl final.

Now Vidic would be a far better addition. Come to think of it, the best defenders in the EPL are all foreign.

I am pleased to see we didn't sign Barzagli, like I said in another thread. I don't see how two defenders from one of the worst defenses in Serie A could improve us in any way.

You mean the best PLAYERS in the EPL are all foreign. (Defenders, Midfielders, Forwards, it doesn't matter the position).

Last year and before Milan sign Oddo, i was saying everywhere on that forum that i don't want that guy Oddo because he is old fore his role and in 1-2 years he will be a bad transfer for Milan and that we will again will need a new RB. My words comed true,my prediction comed true so you can't say my judgment is wrong .
As for Janku after his first year with Milan i didn't ever believe that he can play good football for us.

Good for you roso 11...now, anymore of our players you know will be failures?

Let me know, so I can inform Carlo and Galliani immediately!

(By the way, when our targets have been officially confirmed, then you can let us know if they will be failures before we buy them...would save us a lot of money!)

Thanks.

Galliani needs to sign some players to sadisfy me, right now we are just selling and players are leaving I hope Galliani can find replacments on time. So wait now...u r not satisfied that we have made space to accommodate new arrivals? :d33:

I dont know how you thinks these things work...but it :bri: seems to me that either you dont, or are just being difficult...

But who am I to say...I am now an Inter fan...seeing as how this management doesnt have a clue as to what they are doing...Moratti..now he knows his stuff!! :grinser: :ende:

He is overrated, Dru.
Ok, i admit that i don't like him at all so i may not be objective, but whenever i watched him he was bad, awful actually. Owned in one-on-one's, bad positioning, only good in air.

Now, i'm aware he's not crap, but he's overrated and it's like that exactly because he made it to the NT. But how did he make it there ? How many quality CB's there were in Italy in 2006, apart from Nesta, Cannavaro and Materazzi ? Name me one.
How many quality Cb's are there now, considering that even Nesta is not there ? Completely out of form Cannavaro and Materazzi (both of them +35 yo) are in front of him in the picking order.
He's 27, he's having his best years, why isn't he a starter if he's good ?

Why did he play in Palermo until he was 27 and moved to bloody Wolfsburg ? Why Inter, Juve, Milan, Barcelona, Real. Manchester, Bayern, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Lyon didn't even try to buy him ?

I'm also against the terms "Juve material", "Milan material" but i'm sure that Barzagli wouldn't have been an improvement over anyone in Milan's, Juve's or Inter's defense and i believe that's why none of them wanted him.

Whats with the wife and players??
Thats sounds interesting

Domenech's wife is a known TV woman ... she owns a TV Show on football, one on news and one on poker. When you watch her, you don't know why she is with Domenech ... lol, just my personal opinion, she's younger and beautiful.

Anyway, these boring stories are something like a private message sent by Giuly after the first TV Show from Domenech's wife (Domenech wasn't French NT coach), Giuly apologized and said he didn't know she was married ... for Pirés, it seems like Domenech's wife is an ex-girlfriend from him lol, for Mexes, I don't know but rumours were saying there had been something between both and for Trézéguet, nothing related to his wife, just football and probably persons not liking each other ...

It's just "people" news, nothing interesting for football ...

:wth: If I hear that phrase ONE more time I'll scream  Ignoring the fact that you have been rude to everyone differing from your opinion, how do you know that Barzagli won't be good enough? Do you know that he has been on many posters' "dream signings" list :stupid: Isn't he at least better than Kaladze, Bonera, Simic, Digao :wallbang: Tell me oh GREAT BRK "WHO IS GOOD ENOUGH TO START FOR MILAN" :scream:

Barzagli is too good to be on the bench. Not good enough to replace Kaladze. That's my point.

Edit: If we sold Kaladze, then yes, I'd consider Barzagli. I'd rather have Zapata in that circumstance, though. But since the Georgian is still our starting CB, along with Nesta, I don't see why we should tear our hair out for losing Barzagli.

brk, I have to disagree. Ferdinand isn't that great to be honest. He makes too many silly mistakes and loses concentration to often.

I was being sarcastic. We can't sign Messi and Ferdinand. We don't NEED to sign Ferdinand or Messi. There's no vacancy. As we all know, we have 8 or 9 players that are promised a starting spot. They are GK, Nesta, Kaladze, Ambro, Gennaro, Pirlo, Kaka, Seedorf and Pato. We can't buy a player that is as good, or even better than those players and expect them to be happy. They're paid to play and they expect to play. You can't buy Ronaldinho and expect Seedorf to be happy. He knows that his place will be at risk. Its not worth ruining the harmony of the team just for the sake of pleasing some heartbroken and angry fans. Unless we sell one of those players, you can't buy a world class player in their position. By world class player, I include young players with the potential to be great. Nasri, Zapata, etc. If there's no room, they won't play, and they won't grow. Learn from the Gourcuff experience. We have room in LB/RB, FW and GK. That's it. No need to worry about CB or any midfield role anymore, at least not in the first 11.

Oh, and yes, I'm a little annoying. But at least i'm realistic. We can't all be whiny little kids.

Mr.Bald dude is waining about money. If players are expensive the sperstar players then he should focus on the young talents. Montolivo, Pazzini, Rossi,
Nasri, non of these players are more then 15-20 mil.

Galliani brace your self because the special one is in charge of Inter, Moratti will buy whatever Mourinho wants, I really cant see us wining the scudetto.

http://www.transfermarketweb.com/?action=read&idsel=17166

This is the kinda crap that Galiani always says. :5dito: "Players are too expensive." It is what it is, put up or shut up Galiani.

Didn't he learn anything from last years transfer window. It doesn't pay in the long run to be cheap and horde your money. I realize management doesn't want to be taken advantage of in the market, but really I haven't heard any other team's management name drop as much as ours, and then turn around and complain that their targets are too expensive. :w163:

That is a stupid statement for a team that has only made one significant signing in the past couple of years and who have just been selling. Everyone one can see our managements pattern in the market and are starting to block it, I'd do the same if I were them, because eventually it will affect the product and then the bottom line...it's business. :dazed:

We are fast becoming a laughing stock in the transfer market :hah2: and it's showing on the pitch.

So Galiani, dig in those pockets pull out the money get the RIGHT players and lets keep it moving.

@ Jeff Re your comment in the Lloris thread - If management doesn't know the RIGHT target from just A target they are in worse condition then we think and need serious :u31: .

Therefore, I do believe that they know who the RIGHT target is, but are not willing to purchase him if they feel the price is too high, filling him with a less expensive alternative, or just not purchasing anyone at all.

Regarding the notion of being 'Good enough for Milan':

The whole argument is false. It doesn't make sense because we're not starting from a blank slate. Imagine Milan starting next season with no players at all. If that is the case, then having this argument makes sense. Since we can start from scratch and build the team around all the available players regardless of any history and cohesion the team has already achieved. But we're not starting from scratch. We already have a team, and we have a commitment to the players. A financial commitment and an investment in time, love and harmony. We have built an identity through the years of a team forged around a robust midfield, and attacking full backs; A style of play that should continue as a result of the transfers we consider.

We can't simply identify the best players in the world, the best young promising talent, and then force them into our system. That's what Chelsea does. It doesn't work that way. Unless you want to overhaul the team, you can't replace the integral elements, and seeing as how Ancelotti seems certain to stay for the near future, I don't see that happening.

You need to identify the flaws in our current squad and also the opportunities that would arise should certain elements or players are added. Our system works. The fundamentals are the best in the world. We don't need to yearn for a big name signing just for the sake of reassuring ourselves of our dominance and greatness. That vanity and insecurity is deadly. It will only lead to chaos and a loss of identity.

Every player can be 'good enough for Milan' if he has the qualities required in a position that those qualities are asked for. Etoo is needed. Zambro is needed. Essien is not. Messi is not. The investment in those players will raise our game, for sure, but it will come at price. Both financial and personal. We can raise our game for less (better investment) if we get someone we truly need. Someone good enough for Milan.

Take it easy Warro, let him indulge himself. the amount of players that failed and succed is enormous, everyone got someone right and wrong. that is also ignoring that these successes and failures may have depended on the ove itself.

I could easily blow my own trumpet by naming a list of players that I predicted correctly about. I'll pass today. ;)

Typical mindless Galliani scapegoating.

Pato, Kaka, Pirlo, Seedorf, and now Flamini. These are all excellent signings made by Galliani and his team.

We don't need to waste our money buying players we don't need. We need a GK, a world class FW, and few more squad players. We will get all of them.

If you want to bathe in the glow of the false pride that comes with big name big money signings, you're following the wrong team, bro. The last big money signings were Pippo, Nesta and Rui. Since then the team has successfully built a working cohesive unit. The club is a business, and its a family. Its not a reality show. If you start expecting a big prize every season, you'll always want more, and you'll always be disappointed. I'm proud of Galliani and Berlusconi. They don't give in to pressure or impulses like they used to (Rivaldo...) Ronaldo was a risk worth taking. So was Oliveira. Baptista in my opinion was the one that got away last season. We could have used him. The team is not broken. It just needs to freshen up a bit.

Edit: I also thought Oddo was a mistake. They must have had their reasons, and maybe the better options were too expensive. In those circumstances we do have a right to bemoan the management. At the time, though, Oddo could have gone either way. I'm sad that he never really got going the way we all hoped. Same with Janku.

About trasfers i agree with anonymous, to build a big team you need players...
