Where did u get this info?
Berlusconi and Galliani want the deal to be closed today, I'm expecting an official announcement in the evening.
When reading the reports I believe the price will be between 20 and 25 milion Euros. We have apparently raised our offer to satisfy Laporta.
Source? U sure?
La gazzetta dello sport and tuttomercato :3band:
Thanks looks good fingers crossed!

Ronaldinho is Rosonero - For the announcement, is a matter of hours, perhaps minutes
Make it minutes and it better happen soon... I'm getting anxious here...
Anyways guys, there was a tragedy in Italy today...Gionata Mingozzi, a rising talent in Italy, midfielder, was killed in a car crash on his way to a medical.

Barca did a really good job if they got 25 Million outta us for this guy...cause that's a ton and could explain why Galiani came out of the meeting with that messed "i've been taken for a ride and slapped without a kiss" type look on his face.
The Mercato will be closed if we spent 25 Million on this guy!
Benvenuto Ronaldinho!!!!!!!!
Now with the two best offensive players in the world Borriello can be the next Serie A top scorer
but if it will go wrong i think he is thew last player that will come to Milan from spain

20 million is a respectable fee for both sides... it's not too much for Milan, and not too little for Laporta and Barca... it'll save face with both sides... as being adequate.
It's the final countdown

I totally agree with you
it's seems thou it's 18.5 mlns plus bonuses
L'accordo verrà trovato da Galliani e Laporta su una cifra vicina ai 18,5 milioni più alcuni bonus. Al giocatore un triennale da 6,5 milioni.

Yeah I'm wondering that too.
Either way, it seems like this has been a very satisfactory transfer season... I know previous ones have let us down, but we have something to smile about this year.

well, if Milan can manage to spread this 20M or so in three years, they could still have money to spend on Zapata or Adebayor.

Agreed... I wonder if it is by year payments... if it is in that format, this transfer season is definitely not over. I hear though Milan would give 10 million up front (and pay rest later)... but never heard anything else about that.

but i don't think it will be for this year

maybe plus Sheva

If we could get Sheva on loan, I would not be against that despite my bitterness regarding him. It's important to have additional strikers, so we don't end up with a crisis like we had for part of the previous season.
But you know guys, We had a very productive mercato this year... compare us (where we only qualified for UEFA Cup) to Juve that declared its squad is complete though they qualified for the CL (plus the extra money that comes with that)... we did better than they did, even with less money.

Too true... there is nothing there for him. Man City couldn't even break into the top 4 in the EPL if they tried. They got beaten 8-1 in a game I think against Portsmouth. LOL.

I was always confident that Man City had no chance at all. I never did sweat when they mentioned anything. I hope we do face them in the UEFA Cup though, and teach them a lesson.
If they were serious about it, they would have sent agents... not an email to Barcelona.

What they do is a fair competition. It's extremely fair. So, I dont care what City did. It's their right to do that.
If Milan then have to pay more to buy R10 due to City's bid then the 'winner' is Barca.

Yeah
and he can leave too but only if he let Belen at Milanello
Pato - Ronaldinho - Kaka`? That's the dream team, but then Milan can also take the opportunity to rotate between players and not exhaust Kaka`.

Thanks for the money you gave us!
It's almost as we're stealing from you. Thank you for taking an overrated, fat, useless player that's definitely past it, off our hands. You've literally just wasted 20 million euros on a player like him when you could have used them funds for a player who might actually give a damn about the team and fans. I guarantee you, he'll only go out and party and get more over weight with time. He'll promise to change; he always does. But the guy will never change. I know from experience with watching him and such. This is a gamble that will not pay off.

A fat, useless player? Are you that blind sided? For one, he's a playmaker and he has a thin build. He can lose weight just like that and in Milan we have a very strong work ethic. We didn't waste 20 million euros on him. We got a steal. Your team is probably going to collapse now. You can't even get half decent replacements.
Tell me barca fan, if your team is so wonderful, why did you get Dani Alves for that atrocious amount you paid? 29 million for him? What the?
Barca neglected Ronaldinho and paid the price. And what disrespect... this guy had a key part in giving your team that CL title... and this is the kind of respect you give him?
Rather you don't deserve him. You deserve crap like Dani Alves... you won't get a replacement for Ronaldinho by the way.

I bid farewell to you. You're most welcome :w155:
You see Milan isn't a club where players are viewed as stock items and bargaining chips. We pay dearly for it at times (either via high salaries or otherwise) but we ARE the definition of class....it's how we became the most internationally successful club in the world.
Barca on the other hand have gotten humiliated (we're not talking about the 4-0 here :D ) time after time with their stars from Di Stefano, Figo, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Romario and now Ronaldinho...ALL of who you sold in their prime.
HALF of your European Champions' League success (in your ENTIRE HISTORY) is OWED almost completely to Ronaldinho and Ronaldo gave you the Super Cup. They wanted to expand their medal cabinet so they're with us now. Thanks for letting us have in total 6 (SIX) world players of the year titles come under the red and black banner:5schal:....and we eagerly await Daniel Alves, Lionel Messi and Bojan Kirkic in the years to come. Nice doing buisness anytime and we'll be happy to sell you more defensive mids who are past their best as we did with Albertini. You can choose from the wide array of Emerson, Brocchi or Gattuso.
Best wishes on Messi- your latest sweetheart- lasting more than half a season, replicating Ronaldinho's exploits, and not being dethroned by Aguero :respect:

We should offer Favalli, Emerson, Brocchi... for 30 million to barfa. And Barcelona would buy that because they love spending huge amounts of money on useless players (Alves).
We should have done a swap deal... Favalli, Emerson and Brocchi for Ronaldinho... lol. They would be all set! :D

Not upset. I'm glad he's gone. He's useless. Has been for some time. Sour grapes? Clearly. I did say thank you for the 20 million euros. Ronaldinho can lose weight - just like any human being - but he won't. He promises and promises and promises he'll lose weight but never does.
We have enough time to get better players than Ronaldinho; that's the thing about football, you get better footballers all the time, for near enough the same money and will be younger.
Please, Ronaldinho was not the reason we won the Champions League. Need I remind you, the guy went missing in the Champions League semi-final and final. The person that won us it was Larsson, so don't go on like Ronaldinho is some kind of God or something!
We're on a collapse? What the heck are Milan on? They didn't even qualify for the Champions League. We had a poor season and still finished 3rd and made it to semi-final of a Champions League and lost to the winners.
We took that 20 million euros because we're desperate to get rid of him. You know why that is? He's not the same player he once was, and never will be again. I guarantee you!
Your memory is lacking with Messi. Messi has scored quite a few goals against Madrid last season, so you're way off the mark. And your response was to try to fuel a reaction out of me. I obviously think Kaka is a great player, so I won't simply call him overrated just because someone's stating the truth about Ronaldinho when you're trying to get a reaction out of me. So don't go around making stupid remarks like Messi's an overrated when it simply isn't true.
I would like to say, I hope you cream us in the Champions League, but you're not even there.

This is the type of disrespect that Barca fans have for their players. But hey I've seen the type... many fans in Barca's stadium were booing at Giovani Dos Santos. And made racist howling noises at Eto'o. You seem to have no respect towards any player. Yes, he will lose weight because we have a disciplined atmosphere.
I've been to both Barcelona and Milan. While Milan has its clubs and such, it's more rigid than Barcelona, and is a very business oriented conservative leaning city. Barcelona is party, party and party... I've been there. It's no wonder why he lost form... Barcelona is way too lax.
We have enough time to get better players than Ronaldinho; that's the thing about football, you get better footballers all the time, for near enough the same money and will be younger.
Like who? Your team has spent nearly 65 million Euros on players, with neary 30 million of that blown on a useless Dani Alves. Trust me, you won't get any replacement for Ronaldinho. No one.
Please, Ronaldinho was not the reason we won the Champions League. Need I remind you, the guy went missing in the Champions League semi-final and final. The person that won us it was Larsson, so don't go on like Ronaldinho is some kind of God or something!
This is incorrect. He was a key player in that and not to mention he was man of the match of the 2006 CL Final. Don't bad talk someone that gave you a CL trophy.
We're on a collapse? What the heck are Milan on? They didn't even qualify for the Champions League. We had a poor season and still finished 3rd and made it to semi-final of a Champions League and lost to the winners.
You had a poor season and still ended up in 3rd because you have a poorly competitive league. The Serie A is extremely competitive and one slip-up can cost you dearly. It doesn't matter if we didn't qualify for the CL... we will be back with will like Bayern.
We took that 20 million euros because we're desperate to get rid of him. You know why that is? He's not the same player he once was, and never will be again. I guarantee you!
This is false. Totally false. He will regain his form because he will have a renewed view on his career...
So don't go around making stupid remarks like Messi's an overrated when it simply isn't true.
Clearly he is overrated.

Because some of your opinions are not substantiated (at least ini some people's eyes).
Also, it's a natural thing here IN THIS FORUM that we respect other fans coming, even if they made some comments which are not pleasing to Milan fans.
Because that is class.

Giancarlo I love you man....Barca fans are amazingly ungrateful :eekani:
Messi? What did Messi give them when R10 was out? What did Messi accomplish with the National Team? Where was Messi in the Copa America with a severely weakened Brazil? Where was Messi in the return Leg vs Getafe with his supposed wonder goal scored in the first leg? Where was Messi during Barca's second CL title? Where was Messi the last time Brazil had Kaka and he stole the ball from him then ran the length of the pitch beating everyone then scoring :D ? Where was Messi vs ManU?
And if you could say that Barca owed the CL to Larsson then there's no point talking to you further.

couldnt agree more. but hey messi is white and from barca youth system. he's a 'converted catalan' Xavi, iniesta, puyol do no wrong in barca. Dinho, ronaldo, romario, rivaldo, maradonna..... crap. run outta town
edit: messi is an exrordinary talent. but he's only 21. He is not NEAR dinho's level yet 1 day possibly

They are substantiated, but I'm not going to get into that. I do not like Barca fans because I've seen how they are in person. Eto'o doesn't even take his family to stadium to watch games anymore because of the racist chants.
I'll show class, but I'm going to celebrate... and no one, NOT a soul, will derail my happiness!
Official word on the transfer is expected by this evening, so Ronaldinho can be presented to the media for the start of Milan's pre-season training on Wednesday
1) He promises to lose weight but Barcelona never helps him to lose weight.
2) Better players than Ronaldinho.. umm... ok... but this is classic from Barcelona: We are getting better players all the time. And yet?
3) I wish you were right that Ronaldinho is the person not responsible for the win, but I still remember how he passed superbly to score against Milan in San Siro... Then Milan would have won yet another champion league ;).
4) No disrespect to Spain, but I don't even think that the Spanish league is close to that of Serie A. Premier League will top the list.
5) Milan is not participating in CL next year, that's the truth. Milan has won 6CLs in the past, while Barcelona? That's also the truth.
6) Milan has a history of keeping the players as long as they want (with a few exceptions), while Barcelona has a history of selling their best players. At the end of the day who performs better in Europe and more prestigious?
7) IT's funny how people make fun of Milan when Milan is not in CL. Milan players and fans, however, have the DNA in their blood probably not to even retort such baby crying, knowing too well who are the more successful team in Europe.
Cheers - J
yea, actually Milan has a pretty bad history with "finished" players(especially Brazillian players) :wallbang:

Like who? Your team has spent nearly 65 million Euros on players, with neary 30 million of that blown on a useless Dani Alves. Trust me, you won't get any replacement for Ronaldinho. No one.
This is incorrect. He was a key player in that and not to mention he was man of the match of the 2006 CL Final. Don't bad talk someone that gave you a CL trophy.
You had a poor season and still ended up in 3rd because you have a poorly competitive league. The Serie A is extremely competitive and one slip-up can cost you dearly. It doesn't matter if we didn't qualify for the CL... we will be back with will like Bayern.
This is false. Totally false. He will regain his form because he will have a renewed view on his career...
Clearly he is overrated.
We will be back in the CL. Take my word on that one.
Clearly Ronaldinho can win you the Champions League on his own, because he's that damn good. You don't even need a goalkeeper, defence or midfield because of him being that damn good. Heck, take the goalkeeper out, too. He can play everywhere because he's damn good.
Yeah, we also like to smash our fans with bottles and bricks as well. Oh.... wait!
That's the thing, Barcelona like to waste money on ****ty players, one being Ronaldinho. We waste our stupid money. And we seem to let them go to your team when they're past it. Damn us!
You're right. Serie A is the only competitive league out there. It sure has its scandals, I can tell you that. Where were all the all the Italian teams in the Champions League semi-final and final again?
You're right about Ronaldinho having a new way of looking at his career; he will get to explore more bars and restaurants in Milan. You're definitely need to get the whip out for this guy at training.
Of course you'll be back in the Champions League. Your league reminds me of the Scottish league; there's only like 2 decent in there, so it's pretty easy to. I was looking forward to Ronaldinho scoring that hattrick passed us as well. Damn!

I didn't say he was that. I clearly have been a long time advocate for many other players to join Milan, including Cristian Zapata, Fabio Quagliarella, Pavyluchenko... etc. We have reinforced our midfield and defense. There could be a few more tweaks made, but this have been an EXTREMELY satisfactory transfer season for us.
Abbiati is fine, but I agree with people on here we need a new keeper (that will come later probably in the next transfer window).
You're right. Serie A is the only competitive league out there. It sure has its scandals, I can tell you that. Where were all the all the Italian teams in the Champions League semi-final and final again?
And the La Liga doesn't? Where were all the Spanish teams? Where was Barcelona? You got lucky to get as far as you did. By the way if I remember Real Madrid, the La Liga champions, were beaten by Roma in a trashing 4-2... even beaten in their own turf 2-1 by Roma.
You're right about Ronaldinho having a new way of looking at his career; he will get to explore more bars and restaurants in Milan. You're definitely need to get the whip out for this guy at training.

spain on otherhand only have barca and real madrid.... .sure atletic, villareal, valencia and some others r good... but they r cyclically good. just like fiorentina or napoli or sampdoria or lazio etc. they arent year in year out top 4. In italy, those 4 r always at top 4.... anytime 1 of the 'midtable teams' puts together a good team, its insane.
Barca freefell at end of season and didnt even effect them falling past 3rd

In between all this Dinho talk, Storari has been sent to Fiorentina for on loan. See acmilan.com or http://www.acffiorentina.it/it/Articolo.aspx?Ctn=290824
LOL, someone can't accept losing Ronaldinho, i can see :)
Milan got a brilliant player from the past, with good chances to be brilliant again in the future. One bad season in football is nothing (some say Dinho had 2 bad seasons, but i think he's been solid in 2006/07).
The other big teams from Europe (Manchester Utd, Chelsea, Inter, Real, Bayern, Liverpool, Arsenal, Juventus etc) didn't want to take a risk with Ronaldinho and they may easily be sorry at the end. Milan took the risk, even though the history shows that Milan were really unlucky with south Americans coming from La Liga (Redondo, Rivaldo, Ricardo Oliveira, Ronaldo, Emerson). Once it has to work, though.
Will it work with Dinho, only time will tell, but if he gets back to his old self then he will be unstoppable. If he won't, then no-one should blame Galliani or Berlusconi for buying him, because only a fool won't try to sign Ronaldinho.
I thought someone said he was sent to a spanish club?
Well i was the one that probably riped Dinho the most, but i have to say in the end i hope it does work out for Dinho and Milan.
When he is on top of he's game there are none better,i just hope he finds it.
It will be 39million euros at the end of the day for the purchase and salary for the next 3years.At 28 he has 4 years on Seedorf and with that said it will create more depth in the Midfield, which Milan needed. He is a signing that does create more rest for players like Kaka and Seedorf, not saying he will not start just saying he will help more than what Gorky or who every Milan had the last couple of years.
The best thing about signing Dinho is there is hope that he does have greatness left in him and if that is so other clubs will be in trouble ever time they play Milan.

Well we had good luck at times too... just took too many risks. Ronaldinho is younger, has never had major injuries and has a slim build. This is what is different between him and Ronaldo for example...
We had good luck with Kaka and Pato... I would even say Cafu and Serginho gave us many years of good service... but yeah we had our bad signings. It happens to every team. :)
Ronaldinho is beyond Oliveira, Redondo, Ronaldo and Emerson... he'll fit in well.

i would agree with you on a solid 06/07. the only knock is because he was such a genius in 05/06. kind of a victim of his own success.
i wouldnt call ronaldo unsuccessful. for a midseason transfer he secured us staying in top 4. So even though more didnt come out of him, for a small midseason transfer, he sufficed.
tony, whts your thoughts on juve? Whats going on there.... i like poulsen alot, but he isnt the payer thet need. Perhaps they want to have a defensive mid battle royale w/ milan? Do you think they will sign anyone else, arent they a little thin outwide w/ nedved camorenesi and only giovinco? Just curious....
I'm absolutely thrilled we'll finally get Ronaldinho. Even if he'll never be the Ronaldinho of 2005, he's still top drawer and a great signing.
The Barca fan who's gotten himself lost in here is indeed a very typical Barca supporter, sadly. These people have no respect for the players who've brought them such joy and succes through the years. The examples thereof are in abundance. Saying that Dinho is useless, though, is the worst I've heard yet. You people (Barca fans) never learn. Good luck finding a replacement for Ronaldinho - who will it be? The utterly average Hleb, or maybe that two-game wonder Arshavin (I'll forgive some of my fellow milanisti for briefly wanting him instead of Ronaldinho :p231:)?
I'll have to disagree with those of you saying that Messi is overrated - he's not (and Agüero will never be better than him). The reason why he didn't play a big role in the 2006 CL was that he was only 18 at the time, surely he'd be forgiven for not owning the big stage at that age. But the problem there IS with Messi, is that, much unlike R10, he doesn't make the team better - he still plays mostly for himself. Remember the 2006 CL semi final Barca vs. Milan at the San Siro (I know you do :pp18:), how Ronaldinho set up Giuly for the only goal? Messi doesn't do that - and I doubt he ever will. And you'll miss that, Barca, and you'll regret being so disrespectful and selling Dinho - "Oh how the mighty have fallen!" they'll say, and yet you'll never learn...This time it's Dinho, next time Messi, then...Bojan.

Hola culè.
I trust little Frankie when he says Barca won when R10 played.
According to me, you're terribly wrong saying R10 was not the reason Barca won (their second Champions' League. . . said enough?) .
You forget when Barca played at San Siro, semifinal first leg: who's made that perfect no-loook assist to Giuly? Me? Cruyiff? Aragones? Rossell? Let me say, being beginners in that kind of trophies, at this level it would be better to admit Barca wasn't able to manage - as usual! - one of the best player all over the world.
Now we got 2 fantastic players, probably the best.
Greetings to Don TheDoor, sorry, LaPorta.

Ok guys (and gals) barcafan has apologised, so lets not batter him overmuch for what he has already apologised for....
Moving on....
Does Clarence give up his #10?
tony, whts your thoughts on juve? Whats going on there.... i like poulsen alot, but he isnt the payer thet need. Perhaps they want to have a defensive mid battle royale w/ milan? Do you think they will sign anyone else, arent they a little thin outwide w/ nedved camorenesi and only giovinco? Just curious....
Like i said few weeks ago and today Ranieri only repeated what i was saying all along...Juve had a great attack last year. The best attack in serie A. Chances were created with ease, while Zanetti (incredibly underrated player) was among the top three assisters. Camoranesi was doing a monster job also.
There were no problems at all in creating chances and scoring. With Giovinco as a playmaker and with another great attacker (don't listen Giancarlo when he talks about Amauri :D ) , there should be no problems in creating and scoring.
The problem was always the defense. That's why i was saying that a strong destroyer in midfield and a great CB are needed.
Juve did try to do exactly that at the beginning. They went for a DMC. Milan were better and they "stole" Flamini in front of Juve. Logically, i expected Juve to go for another DMC and that's why i was surprised when talks about Xabi Alonso started. Xabi is a fantastic playmaker, but he doesn't defend at all, and defending was what Juve needed.
Luckily the board realised that it's a defensive midfielder that was needed and they bought one of the best destroyers in Europe, Poulsen.
But they failed with strenghtning the defense. Chiellini and Buffon offer security, but Molinaro and Legrottaglie are a potential heart-attack for the Juve fans.
If Juve bought a good CB and LB ( lets say Carvalho and Grosso) then that team would have been very hard to beat, just like in Lippi and Capello days. Great defense, with two strong DMC's that run non-stop for 90 minutes, and with players who easily create and score up front.
Since they didn't buy a CB and LB, all that was left to do was to at least buy a physically strong DMC like Poulsen.
Overall i'm satisfied, but i'd have felt much better if they bought someone really good to replace Molinaro and Legrottaglie.
P.S: As for the width, it's almost the same as last year. Nedved, Camoranesi, Marchionni, Salihamidzic and now Giovinco instead of Palladino.
I say yes to that. Clarence earned that shirt with years of hard work and dedication, with two CLs to show for it.
I say give Ronny the # 20. He played well enough in that in his time with the National Team when he was younger, why not go back to his roots?
Heres another thought.... Ka-Pa-Ro Mark.II?

really? Care to justify that?
How is Man City making the task difficult to conclude? Ronaldinho doesn't want to go there. That's been established.
As you can see GianCarlo the only reason this deal isn't done is because Laporta wants Milan to come as close as possible to Man City's offer.
This would have been done ages ago if Man City wasn't in the picture.
Hence they are making this transfer difficult for Milan conclude.

I will think positively, and believe that this will be wrapped up today, or tomorrow the latest.

MILAN - On his exit from the Lega Calcio Milan lawyer Leandro Cantamessa, who's in constant contact with Adriano Galliani, made the following declarations: 'There is a good chance that Ronaldinho's move to Milan will materialise. There are still some economic problems, but our law office has already prepared the necessary papers. I've spoken to Galliani, he was calm even though no one has put pen to paper yet, I want to emphasize that. We are all waiting."

This ladies and germs, is what happens when rules are ignored. The silly season rules are still in effect.
Kindly remember this.
Seems in my euphoria, I forgot them myself, then didnt want to sound like the "bearer of bad realisations", when I thought that celebrations were indeed a tad bit premature, since nothing was official on either Barca or our official web site.
I still think that its only a matter of time (minutes not days or months :D) that he signs for Milan..
The info about Barca rejecting Milan's offer comes from the Spanish news agency EFE. They aren't quoting anyone, they only say that the source is someone close to Barcelona.
It doesn't sound too reliable.
Barcelona on the other hand put an official statement on their site saying only that the negotiations are going to continue with both Milan and Manchester City. (they put the statement some 40 minutes ago)

I can already see Inter and Juve running scared with this news. This is without a doubt the most terrorizing news for the 2 clubs.
Tony29 - Do you feel a icy chill down your spine?
So now all he has to do is pass the physical :nervous:
All I can say is with this addition, when it comes to our formation...it's going to get crowded at the top! good luck, Carlo!
Our lineup with the Great Ka-Pa-Ro (i.e. Carlo's most offensive lineup ever) against napoli was:
Dida
Bonera-Maldini-Nesta-Kaladze
Ambrosini
Pirlo--kaka'---seedorf
R9---Pato
So is it:
Dida
Zambro--Nesta---Kaladze---Janku
Flamini
Pirlo---Kaka'---Dinho
Borriello---Pato
What's our best formation/lineup with the players we have?

This way, Seedorf Ambro Antonini and one between pato or Borriello are on the bench
The only way to modify the system is to reduce the number of defenders.

and i think when pato comes in we'll see kaka or dinho out. we will rarely see seedorf in trequarista (which i hope we dont) unless we go into 4-3-1-2. seedorf doesnt run enough t play uptop i prefer him sit in midfield tackle, make smart passes, push up when needed like he used to and against napoli

Ronaldinho to Milan - Negotiation marathon on Ronaldinho of 15.VII.2008
Four hours before the player had landed at the "El Prat" airport of Barcelona. While Roberto held the first talks of the day with Milan vice president Adriano Galliani and Milan transfer adviser Ernesto Bronzetti at the Juan Carlos I hotel, Ronaldinho spend some time in his Porsche Cayenne.
After the meeting with Barcelona, the two Brazilians returned to the Juan Carlos I hotel. Ronaldinho leaves after half an hour. Roberto and the Milan representatives keep talking for some more hours.
With a meeting between Milan and Barcelona cancelled, the Italians conclude their day with a dinner at the Casa Jacinto restaurant. They are there joined by Daniel Fonseca, the agent of Barcelona player Martn Cceres.
Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that at that moment the situation is this: Manchester City offering "27+5", Milan offering "15+5", Ronaldinho preferring Milan, Barcelona willing to accept the Milan offer if they raise it to "20+5". Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona is asking "25+5". Italian sports paper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Milan offers "15+0", having raised that from the initial "10+0".
This morning the mini-meetings continue. Roberto tries to convince Milan to raise their bid. Txiki talks with Galliani. Manchester City put a better offer on the table. Sport claims that City raises its bid to "30+2".
At 1:30 pm there's a high level meeting scheduled at the Via Veneto restaurant. Galliani and Bronzetti meet with Roberto and with Barcelona president Joan Laporta, who is assisted by Txiki, Sanlleh and Barcelona board member Rafael Yuste, for a two-hour dinner.
Galliani and Bronzetti leave the table and return to the Juan Carlos I hotel to talk with Milan strong man and Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi. Sport claims that they get the authorization to raise their bid to 20 million euro. The two go back to the restaurant.
After the final conclusion of the dinner, Galliani and Bronzetti meet with Roberto and financial advisers of the player in their hotel. Roberto goes to the Camp Nou for further talks with Yuste, Txiki, Sanlleh and two club lawyers. After one hour he returns to the Juan Carlos I hotal.
In Italy they then think it's a deal. La Gazzetta dello Sport says that the transfer price is "18,5+1,5". Galliani will go to the Camp Nou to finalize the last details with Laporta, Ronaldinho will fly tonight to Milan and will be presented tomorrow

I was not sure because I read that initial bid of Milan is 10+0. As far as I know, initial bid of Milan was around 11-12 mil pounds. So, its around 15 mil euros.
If its true Milan get Dinho for 18,5 + 1,5 or 15+5 (better), than it's not so far from the first bid.

So how soon before Galliani admits that our mercato is closed? We might as well close this thread for awhile. Dinho, Zambro, Flamini - that's good enough for me this season!!! Next year we'll concentrate on signing defensive stars along with Boruc.
Well Zambro and Flamini are defensive players... but I think there may some room for another signing... I would hope... ;)
Either way, this has been a great transfer season for us, even though we lost a lot of funding being in fifth... our transfer season clearly outclassed our rivals, including Juve.
Pirlo is not that bad honestly... we just don't have anyone to head the ball in :).
He's talking about direct free kicks and I agree with him...Pirlo more often than not leaves his free kick boots home.
The only thing I want to know now is what number he will wear. I hope Clarence gives up the number 10 and returns to his old 20, if not then maybe 11 for Dinho? Wasnt that the number he wore in the 2002 World Cup?
Ha ha, I was thinking in my head about Ronaldo's signing when I opened the Milan website this morning--you know the word "Ronaldo" in gold, and I was just thinking that they wouldnt do it again...well they sure did. Now we have "Ronaldinho" emblazoned in gold on our webpage---just cracks me up.

I think he should do fewer and he would take those fewer ones better than he does now... the arrival Ronaldinho certainly reduces stress on him and Kaka... this is like a 2 for 1 deal... heheh...

That's their choice to do that. It doesn't suggest anything.
Anyways, I think Ronaldinho should get 11 or something.

Question... was paid all out at once, or is it going to be paid by year in annual installments?
It seems there may be room for one more transfer if it was paid by year...

Yeah... Yeah... YEAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FINALLY....
Who's next? Who's next???
I think this could be it, as far as our signings go. Now, let's hope and pray that bad luck does not befall us again (i.e. Redondo, Rivaldo, Ronaldo) and Ronnie comes back from the Olympics uninjured, fit, and raring to go. I think a line up with Kaka, Dinho, Pato/Boriello/Inzaghi would be unbelievable, but Seedorf would have to drop back into midfield. Question is: will he be happy to do so without sulking and is he fit enough to play in midfield? Honestly, I would prefer a midfield of Pirlo, Gattuso/Ambro, Flamini anyday.

As far as Seedorf, he can be great if he's not overstretched in what he has to do. He can play in some of the bigger matches and put more effort. I hope he accepts quality over quantity.
But I'm really quite happy... this really does make our transfer season all the much better!

i hope not! i would love a CF, pirlo replacement, cb and lb..... but if we onl make 1 more signing.... please make it a GK. unless dida does something ridiculous, kalac is not capable of winning serie A.

I'd really prefer a CF... still. Even perhaps another young talent from Brazil. At most we might get one more player... I think we need two more (CF and LB) and perhaps a keeper (later on)... we're certainly not signing 4 players (nor do I think we need to)...
Abbiati is fine for now. It looks to be Abbiati-Kalac-Dida... in the list of 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices...

yeah ijust look at how many games keepers lost for us. arsenal. fabregas had a good shot, but definately saveable by any keeper not named kalac. inter, cambiasso's shot and didas save 'attempt' was shameful.
I mean when u look at juve. there defense is bad aside from chiellini..... but buffon singlehandedly won them many points they wouldnt have got w/ another keeper.
with cf we're gambling..... should borriello be good, we'll be fine. i mean as it is we have 5 'attackers' for 3 attacking positions. (dinho, kaka, pato, pippo, borriello) i know 2 arent strikers, but we both know kaka and dinho will have zero defensive responsibilities.
In my opinion if borriello really is a quality CF, i'd rather us sign a 2nd striker type... AM so we can completel convert to 4-3-2-1. Because then at CF we have pippo and borriello and should be needed pato (who i think 1 day will become full CF). However if we have 4-3-2-1 our pass formation, should kaka or dinho sit a game out we have no other scoring AM.

when u look at teams who play a base 4-3-3 or 4-3-2-1 whatever u like they carr 4 wingers/ams and 2 cf..... Its a point of preference... but i would love to see a speed demon winger come in to give us an option..... imagine we wanna rest kaka so we play....
-----------borriello------------
--dinho------------(fast guy, who we'll name quaresma for time being to make dru hard)
edit: my point is our squad should be full set for a tactic..... but its pointless because it wont happen.

I don't agree with that, but I'd much not rather get into the issues with that. Not even a great keeper in my opinion could have saved Fabrega's shot. Kalac did a lot of great saves... though he made some mistakes... all in all his performances were quite good in the second half of the season, despite the CL loss...

Our issue is not really the keeper. We have a strong defense, and an adequate keeper. But the issue this previous season was our attack and not putting games away from reach by the opposing team... Ronaldinho certainly shores up that, but we still need one more CF. Yes, Dinho and Kaka can act as strikers, but it puts more pressure on them...

Will we rejoin Adebayor race, or let Barça 'have' him as a part of gentleman agreement? I was thinking and thinking, and now I can see maybe we could rotate Pato/Pippo and maybe Borriello if needed so we didn't really need a new striker. Adebayor, Pavlyuchenko, Sheva or my personal preference Villawould be greatly welcomed, though.
For keeper, I think we should try agan with Frey, personally I don't believe in Boruc, I prefer to spend one of our non-EU spot for Akinfeev or the Turks Demirel Volkan. Zapata/Mexes/Santacroce are also my choice if we want to strengthen the backline, and I believe we must.

i'd agree our attack was an issue, but i thought it started alot in midfield. didnt create as many opportunities. Pirlo was only creative force. I think next year w/ seedorf pushed back and flamini, we might have a little more coming up, ultimatel benefiting strikeforce. but on last season. our defense was the worst its been since ive watched milan. peticularly at end of season on counter. i can think of 3 games off top o my head at homestretch of season where we went down 2-0, largely on counter attack goals..... atalanta, sampdoria napoli
maldini rarely plays so i dont count him as a starter... although hes generally class. nesta still wc. Kaladze...poor. he had a great champions league in 2006/07, but hes pretty erratic. I'm not even going to go into our fb play but it was awful. Both the juve and roma losses our fb's were skinned on flanks.. i mean cmon salihamovic scored TWICE ON MILAN?!
Zambrotta fixes 1 side. i'm willing to give oddo another year. But our gk is just pisspoor for a top side. juve=buffon, inter= ceasar, roma= doni...... milan=???

where did i read we had an agreement if fioretina dont advance out of CL group stages thell sell frey. or if they dont qualify again..... or am i making this up?
edit yes i love santacroce, zapata, thiago silva..... fast aggressive CB to stop counters which killed our slowboys in back.

Exactly. Seedorf stretched himself thin last season. I think he needs to understand that he can contribute to Milan but should do more in a limited quality oriented basis. A lot of quantity means little when playmaking is poor. Now we have ronaldinho... the opportunities will be created. It's mouthwatering thinking of our midfield now.. .and I can't wait to see some friendly games...
I think the Olympics don't start until Aug 7th - 23rd... so there must be some July friendly games later this month... I would hope that Ronaldinho participates.
Our defense isnt' as bad as you're making it, but I agree it does need to be shored up. Often, we played to 1-1 games... I think Zambrotta will be helpful, but as I said I agree we need one more left back player. And perhaps another CB...
maldini rarely plays so i dont count him as a starter... although hes generally class. nesta still wc. Kaladze...poor.
I think Kaladze is fine... and I usually defend the guy and get criticized for it. To mention I have not really said much about him since joining this forum.
i mean cmon salihamovic scored TWICE ON MILAN?!
That was Bonera's fault. His red card was the turning point in that game. That foul was just ridiculous. Other than that Bonera to speak of is a great player and I hope he is a starter. Some people don't like him, but I do.
But our gk is just pisspoor for a top side. juve=buffon, inter= ceasar, roma= doni...... milan=???
I think Abbiati is just fine...

Bah. Only Buffon I consider top GK out of those three. I agree, though, our GKs are miserable, and no better than those three.

I don't think we can really be greedy at this point and expect more signings. I think mgmt have assembled a team that should definitely compete for the scudetto. Inter has a great team and it will be a tough fight, but I think we clearly put ahead of the rest of serie A and have maybe just enough to edge Inter out.
I really don't see any urgent needs at this point -look at our team:
GKs - Abbiati, Kalac and Dida
FBs - Zambro, Oddo, Janku, Favalli, Antonini
CBs - Nesta, Kaladze, Bonera, Maldini, Digao, Darmian, Simic
MFs - Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambro, Flamini, Emerson, Brocchi
AMs - Kaka, Dinho, Seedorf
FWs - Pato, Borriello, Inzaghi
Really, I don't see any glaring holes in our roster. Sure, I wish we could sign Boruc, Zapata, Adebayor, and go back in time and sign Vargas/Maggio and Cigarini (that last one hurts), but I think we need to appreciate all the moves Milan has done and not expect anymore.
The ONLY player who I can see Milan signing is Sheva via loan. Not because he's vital to our team's success at this point, but because of his relationship with Berlu. But if we don't, I think our forwards are enough to get the job done. And I personally believe that Pato will EXPLODE next season. You heard it here first.

For starter, Brocchi, Favalli and Simic should go.
Brocchi=excess baggage, as Seedorf will also move back and since Emerson is not going anywhere, Brocchi will really have no play time at all. On top of that, I doubt AMbro will be call to the National team anymore, as Lippi would probably want a younger team for WC.
Favalli needs to go in order for Antonini to get exp.
Simic needs to be sold while he still worth 5M, and once he is gone, Darian will have more playtime.
Well, if Polashi is staying, then I am fine with the strikers but if he is on loan then I guess it is better for us to sign a JDT type of strikers.

By the way, has there ever been any link with us and Crespo? Isn't he free now?
^ does simic still with us? and I'm not sure about darmian and diago either.
What happen with marzoratti?
I believe Paloschi will stay, as buying Dinho has negated our ability to sign another forward. I don't mind this, in fact I'm quite happy as it will force Carlo to play youth and trust in it. As Russo-Neri lays it out, we have a quite decent squad. I'd like to see Simic go while we can sell him as Gabriel says, and Favalli as well so Antonini can play. I like what we have here; it is competitive, it allows for rotation, and I think it is competitive for the scudetto. This will be our main focus for the year, I am sure. If we could win it in Ronnie's first year, imagine the momentum to go into CL the following, it'd be amazing.
I am VERY excited for the year, and I believe if we take the right chances, we can do the business in serie A. I want to do well in UEFA cup but that's second fiddle to winning the league, and I think we have the squad to do it.

Agreed.
And not only that we increased the depth of our squad immensely. The management took steps that I believed they would. Some people call me crazy and a strong defender of management... but they pulled through this time for sure. :) We can't fix everything in one transfer window... there are always more to come.
And as it should be... the scudetto should be priority and I believe most Diavolo players agree with that... :)
While I'm really excited about Ronaldinho, I also can't wait to see Pato play more... scoring 9 goals in half of a season and getting his foot solidly in the door as he did... that's the way to do it! I can't wait!
And I'm sure Inter is trembling right now... they couldn't even get Lampard...

Txiki Explains Ronaldinho Exit
Just a few hours after news broke that AC Milan and Barcelona have reached an agreement over Ronaldinho, Barça’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, has given his reasoning behind the superstar’s exit.

After officially coming to an agreement to sell Ronaldinho to Serie A giants AC Milan, Txiki explained in detail the activities that transpired on Tuesday and resulted in the Brazilian ace’s departure from the Camp Nou.
“The player will always decide where he wants to play. As a club, we can have 40 different offers but in the end, what counts is the player’s own desire,” he said.
The technical director also revealed one of the main deal-breakers that clinched the move: “This agreement was reached because Ronnie forfeited his right to 15% of the transfer fee.
“We are very satisfied with this deal because all three parties are happy. We are contented with the transfer and Ronnie will now also leave happy.”
The principle agreement of the transfer will see Barcelona pocket an initial €21 million plus €4 million in performance-related bonuses.

Sometimes I think the only reason V-Dub is still hanging around over there is because he's a Catalan local yokel.
