Oh so you're comparing an 18 year old who just started this season (scoring 9 goals in half of a season) to a 24 year old who's been with Arsenal for how many years? And what about the other teams Pato did score against? Wow. You're going to go as low to bash Pato.

That's just wrong. And if you're trying to tell me that Adebayor's finishing is better than Patos... not a chance.

I am not bashing pato i dont bash anyone in milan..you are bashing other players for no reason sounds like you havent watched a single match of arsenal and re read you post again "what about the other teams pato scored against" ok than what about the other teams Adebayor scored against? and how can you say pato's finishing is better when hes only played so little all iam saying is stop putting down other players he would be an amazing partnet to pato..

eto'o would be a good addition he is an amazing player but i think we already have speed kaka and pato upfront it would be good if we have that "target man" we will see no worries its only the start of the sumemrl ong ways to go

Adebayor would be a good fit, from the stand point he is big target and has very good mobility for someone that is 6'4.But i also believe Eto would be more lethal with Milan, with his speed he can cause more problems for teams and you just feel that's what Galliani and Ancelloti are thinking.
Can you guys imagine Pato,Eto and Kaka in attack.I don't believe there would be single attacking group in the world faster.

For me, both are very welcome, Ade or Eto'o. As long as not Boriello to be our main striker. :pom:

After watching Italy's 2 games and horrible defense (esp. the first one), aren't we glad we have Nesta / Kaladze which sounds much better than Bargazli / Materazzi? :D

Definitely Jeff! From how you wrote the names, I assume you compare Nesta to Barzagli and Kala to Materazzi. :D

Kala is now better than Materazzi. Materazzi is not the one who played very well in 2006. He is now preparing to be a good sub in NT and Inter IMO. What Kala lacks of is consistency as he has the ability to be decent CB.

Nesta compare to Barzagli? :rr30:

Eto'o just sounds more appealing because he's a powerful striker... yes he's fast, but he's also very strong. I'm not bashing Adebayor. All I know is he has been known for some horrific misses, including some in the CL. I have watched Arsenal play before... in fact they play more EPL here than they do Serie A. In fact more than often the Serie A is shown not live... whlie the EPL is. Already I see Pato being better than Adebayor. Adebayor is fed the ball many times... even Arsenal fans say this a lot, and he misses many.

Why is he so great?

Glad to see we can agree on something.

I'm happy we don't have Materazzi or Barzagli on our team. Well good luck to Wolfsburg with Barzagli. There is a reason I don't think any Italian teams want him. He's so bad and overated. You notice that Donadoni left those two on the bench lol.

And to think about it, I would be alright with Adebayor... but I would be more happy with Eto'o (and we should get Kameni as well).

Maybe you guys are right. Maybe I'm not giving Adebayor a chance... he's young, strong and a very tall striker. I just like the fact that Eto'o is a bit more proven...

Yeah but Adebayor is no bargain either... Arsenal want like 30 million pounds for him I think...

Or maybe... we should look at that player Jo from CSKA...

@Tony29

How much Barca paid for only Zambrotta (not including Thuram)?
They were sold in a package. Barcelona payed €20 million for both of them.
Newspapers speculated with a number of €14 million for Zambrotta and €6 million for Thuram, but there is another version that says all the €20 million were for Zambrotta while Thuram was only the condition for Bracelona to get Zambrotta.
Juve were trying desperately to get rid of Thuram and his wages. Milan wanted Zambrotta but they didn't want Thuram. At the end Barcelona accepted to take both of them for the price of one and they payed Juve €20 million.

Emmanuel Adebayor’s Rossoneri move is back on after his agent confessed, “it’s difficult to turn down Milan.”

General manager Adriano Galliani has publicly named the Arsenal striker as the primary transfer target.

Although he said he was happy at the Emirates, agent Stephane Courbis painted a different picture.

“It is difficult to say if Emmanuel will play for Milan,” he told Italian station Radio Radio TV.

“I know the club has been in contact with Arsenal and now it all depends on the intentions of the English side.

“Milan are a great club, among the best in the world, and when a team like that wants to buy you, you have to think about it very carefully.

“There has to be an agreement between the two clubs. Adebayor is happy at Arsenal, but when a player is tracked by Milan, it is difficult to turn them down.”

The comments are pennies from Heaven for Galliani, who is finding it very difficult to tempt a world class striker to San Siro after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Arsene Wenger still has no intention of parting with the Togo international for less than £30m, but Adebayor’s manager is putting a cat among the ***eons.

After all, Milan have already tempted Mathieu Flamini across to Serie A in an out-of-contract swoop.

Positive development in our search for new world class striker. I'd go for Adebayor over Eto'o and Drogba because he is much younger. Also, of the three shortlisted strikers, Adebayor seems to create the least amount of trouble for his team.

We will end up spending 30 million pounds which would be a massive hit to the clubs finances. Still, the juice is very much worth the squeeze.

I sure hope the Adebayor move materializes. The guy is just 24 and scored 30 goals last year. He was a handful for Nesta, Kala, Maldini when we played them in CL. I think he would be the perfect striker for us: big, powerful, tall, and also very agile and fast.

About his finishing abilities---hey he's not the finished article yet, he will improve and at 27-28 will reach the peak of his career. I wouldnt mind if we shelled out big money for him this summer----I would prefer him over Etoo.

I prefer Adebayor over Etoo primarly because of his age. Etoo is more proven but older too he is like 28 or something.

I also like to see Huntelar play for us, guy scores 30 + goals every season, he should not cost more then 20 mil.

Adebayor is a lot more developed than Pato. He is capable of being our first striker. He was the main striker for Arsenal. He is just starting to come into his prime. He would be perfect for us.

In case of Kaka, people seem to notice his creativity, speed, accuracy and everything a top Brazilian footballer should be known for. However, the reason why he so successful in Italy is because he is physically so strong. Adebayor is also very strong. His display against us in CL showed everybody that he is capable of shoving powerful players like Nesta and Kaladze aside easily. So, I just don't see any reason why we shouldn't long for him.

Surely, he would cost us 10 million pounds more than Drogba or Eto'o but at the same time is still young and can give us 8 - 10 years of service.

Huntelaar won't do any better than Gilardino because his ball control isn't that good.

Eto'o is 27... the reason I prefer him is because he's like the middle between Adebayor and Drogba... Drogba is too old now... and Adebayor isn't developed enough for immediate results.

But then again neither will come cheap, but we should look to spend big bucks...

WOW what a mistake by Zambro. I HOPE this is not a sign of things to come from him

That mistake had more to do with miscommunications than Zambro being beated one on one. IF Nesta or Canna was playing in the middle, they will scream at Zambro about passing it back to them instead of Buffon.

After watching last nite, I must say that whatever Seedorf said about leaving the Dutch team is questionable as I can't imagine Seedorf having a chance to play not to mention start for this Dutch team.

You are absolutly right. Ade is a ready player but he is still improving. I said in my previous post that he is in the making, which doenst mean that he is not a ready player like Pato.

What I doubt is his price that would be 10 mil pounds higher than Drogba or Eto'o. Even to level Drogba's price, I still doubt it. Eto'o is much higher than Adebayor. First because Eto'o is a recognized WC striker and second because he is Barca player, which his club always make hard negotiation with us.

My prediciton price : Ade wont be higher than 25 mil pounds, should be around 15 till around 20 mil pounds, Drogba around 20 mil pounds, Eto'o at least around 25 mil pounds. I am talking about price would be agreed, not price that is asked by the players' clubs

I see everyone has been trying to find the perfect solution at striker and to my surprise nobody has called up Luis Fabiano's name,

If everyone remembers Fabiano did play with Kaka at Sao Paulo right and they were pretty good together,Fabiano scored 118goals in 160games in 4years.Ricki and Luis played about 60games together and they were very good.

Oh by they way Fabiano scored 34goals in 44games this year in Spain and he is peaking at the age of 27.And yes no ridiculous price tag.

Some of you guys kill me with all this age talk, players are all different some decline and improve. That's why it becomes a judgement call.

Serie a leading scorer this year:Del piero 21goals will be 34 this year,Trezeguet 20goals will 31 this year and let's not forget Toni in Germany,
all i hear is Gomez this Gomez that.I would take Luca over Gomez anytime, because he proved he score Serie A and in Germany.

That's age for you guys.

it seems adebayor is closer to us now than ever ... guys in my view point adebayor is a good player certainly class over etoo and 7 years younger than drogba .. but believe me he isn't the player we are looking for i remember ancelotti saying we need a strong player like toni who can lay down the ball to pato believe me that ain't adebayor ... adebayor takes the ball perform tricks get fouls exactly like pato so it would be wiser to get the more powerful more experienced more cheap DROGBA .. ot even gomez believe me!!!!

I hear alot of Adebayor bashing on these forums but how many Arsenal games have you even seen? I'm not comparing Drogba to Ade because to me Drogba is an excellent striker but you must understand Didier is on his way down, he has only what 1/2 more years left in him? Whose next? Eto? How much trouble has he caused in Barcelona? Also not only that I personally think Ade adds something to the game which no other player can, look over the 2 games against Milan - I think Nesta & Co. struggled a bit with his height and strength.

World class CB in the form of Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Jamie Carragher have said that Adebayor is one of the most diffcult striker to mark because he has too much strenght but you still doubt him? Even after the CL games Maldini & Nesta came out giving Adebayor respect but you still doubt him?

To me he has been just as influential to Arsenal as Ronaldo has been to United and Torres to Liverpool. A team like Arsenal does create a lot of chances but Van Persie only played for 2/3 months in the whole season, Eduardo was out since Feb and Adebayor more or less carried the whole team. The through balls Cesc feeds him I can see at Milan but this time its Kaka and he would be really strong in the air, causing many problems for the Italian defense.

For one, he is force fed many chances. In Italy the chances are fewer because of the defensive nature of the way teams play. We can't rely on bad finishing.

You judge this on what? You're talking like Adebayor is 28/29 and he has no more room for improvement. He's only 24, a very young striker and he's exactly what Milan need, fresh young blood.

Fair enough majority of Adebayors goals came from headers, but those are he's strengths he's tall and strong and he uses this to his advantage. Not only this but have you seen some of the other goals he scored? With pure individual briiliance - check youtube his goals vs the tottenham scum superb volley, his goal against newcastle etc

LOL. No. Teams in Italy play with a very defensive style, and pattern. Sometimes you only see 1-0 wins... I just am not keen with Adebayor. Either way, Milan plays a very different style than Arsenal, and I do not recommend that Milan adopts Arsenal' style.

And tell me which teams did a majority of Adebayor's goal come against? Teams like Derby County.. lol. In fact 4 of those goals came in a 6-2 win against Derby county.

No one is asking you to adapt the Arsenal way, I personally think he would be a big hit in Milan but thats if only Arsenal decide to sell. However to me he would be a much better alternative to Eto or Drogba. So by your logic Ronaldo is not that much of a great player because he scored majority of his goals against lower teams? What cost Milan the 4th place this season? It was no striker stepping up against the smaller weak teams - exactly what Adebayor is.

Not only 4 goals against Derby County, but goals against Milan, United, Liverpool etc.

For one, I already told you this and you seem to have ignored it. The emphasis on television here is the EPL on the sports channels. If there are live games, they show EPL games... over the Serie A. Sometimes there are live Serie A games, but usually they are shown later as a replay. Eto'o might be a hot head, but he is one that scores consistently and he has proven that. In addition to that we could go for Espanyol keeper Kameni.. which could convince Eto'o to come...

I'm not the only one not convinced by Adebayor.

I'm not disrespecting him. But I've heard numerous Arsenal fans doubt him as a striker and many of these in England who has seen the guy play. Like it or not, he's one of the most wasteful strikers many of them have seen...

His finishing is bad. I'm not going to go with the risk of saying "lets sign him and see if he improves"...

You judge this on what? You're talking like Adebayor is 28/29 and he has no more room for improvement. He's only 24, a very young striker and he's exactly what Milan need, fresh young blood.

Here we go again. This is based on what I see from Arsenal games I've seen on television. I'm not doubting that he's a very talented striker... but so was Gilardino. Fresh young blood? No. I'd rather go with experience... like with Eto'o. A proven consistent scorer who is also strong. He's causing problems in Barcelona because of the way Barcelona is as a team. There is no respect there... the players want to all do their own thing.

In Italy, forwards and attacking midfielders (like Kaka) are more heavily marked than in England... don't you see this as a problem? He'll have to do a lot in little room given to him by tough Italian defenders.

Maybe Milan will really pay 30-40 mln for Adebayor. It wouldnt be strange actually.

As Ghost said, how many Arsenal matches did you guys see? I've seen like 80% of all Arsenal matches this season and Adebayor played real world class football. He missed some chances, but it doesnt matter. He scored more then torres and phisically wise was absolutly untouchible! We all know that Nesta is a player that phisically cannot be beaten and had huge problems with 1 0j 1's with Adebayor. He is a huge player that can play Toni role and also has technique. The fact he ikes to dribble now and then is not a problem, those thigs depend of coaches wishes on the field. Adebayor is 24 years old ( just turned I thinkj ) and is a real investment for the future.

toni is 31, Drogba also ( and was injured last season and missed half of it ). Right now I claim that Drogba is a better palyer, but that is just RIGHT NOW. In 2 years Drogba will be 33 and Adebayor 26 and still have 5 years in MIlan.

I've seen Adebayor literary tourchuring defnders and not losing a single air duel during the match. He is a class palyer, a little rough on the endges as people say, but certanly a great player. Wenger knows that and is asking fair money.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

More, I've herad before that Milan will play 4-2-3-1 and that could be it, like Holland or Portugal now. Milan needs to change sistem badly.

Necessarities in this team are one more GK and one more CB. Extras are one more fast midfielder who will replace Gourcuff ( wouldnt mind Rosina at all, anmd there is VdV to be sold, Silva from Valencia and those tipe of players...Brasiliero mentioned that Hernanes, who is 23, already played as a AM, RB and DM.....wow).

-----------------------Boruc-----------------
--Zambrotta----Nesta---Zapata--Kaladze-------
-------------Flamini----Gattuso-----------
-------PAto---------Kaka'-------Pirlo----------
-------------------Adebayor-----

That is a rough scetch how would new sistem look like. I've put Kaladze as a LB as those are also caracteristics he can play well. In those formations with 4 attacking players there is almost always one fullback who is defensive ( Ferreira in Portugal playing LB, Boulharuz in Holand as RB, Simunic plays somethimes LB for Cro and so on...Essien in Chelsea). So basically you play with 3 in line at the back when you attack and you defend with 6 players that can defend brilliantly. Favalli, Antonini and Marek are ok, but Kaladze canm also play LB greatly and has defensive stability, and forus its safer he plays there then at the CB. Therefore we need one more good CB ( Mexes, Zapata...)

Sorry for the long post, I just tryed to talk about variations a bit.

I hope Milan considers Arshavin, Eto'o, Kameni, and Zapata... Arshavin is a great attacking midfielder that could come cheap and he's experienced too... Eto'o is pricey, but worth it. Kameni is a superb keeper with great reflexes and is a national teammate of Eto'o...

I think we need to buckle down and get to it... we've got 5 players coming in... if Kameni is bought he can be first choice, then Abbiati as 2nd, and Kalac as third choice. And Kameni is that young goalkeeper (24) many are demanding... Espanyol are strapped for cash... now is our chance.

I really don't want to be a party pooper, but pls don't bring your hopes up about Adebayor or any other big name signings until really really reliable source began to state it, as if they don't sign with me, you will end up getting piss and mad at our MGT, which infact our MGT might not even enquire about that player.

As for Adebayor, u see people say that u can't base your judgement on a player for one year and yet, the same people say that someone is going to break out after a great season. So it really how u look at it.
To me, Adebayor if the price is around the same as Drogba/ Eto and others, would probably be a good buy since he has more mileage left in his tank. Having said all that, I just wish Milan to sign at least one 20+ goals striker for the coming season, if he is a no name, fine with me, as long as he gets 20+ goals for Milan.

Adebayor is a fantastic striker to get if we get him (admittedly I had lost all hope over the past few months). Physically, he's exactly what we need, a tall, strong and physical player that is very good at winning headers. Technically he's a very good player that's very capable on the ball, and also has fair pace.

Another strength is his movement, as he's very good at moving defenders out of position to give space to those behind him. If Van Persie wasn't injured so much this season Arsenal would have been even better as he likes to shoot.

Maybe Milan will really pay 30-40 mln for Adebayor. It wouldnt be strange actually.

Good post. Only disagreements I have with your lineup is right now I'd play Bonera (I bet Donadoni wishes he took him to the Euros) at RB and Zambro at LB, and I'd switch Pirlo and Kaka around.

I would love Boruc, but realistically I can't see it right now.

mrki ... about the right now business i don't know but maybe in two years gomez would be excellent in spain and we are looking for a replacement for ade ( lickely ) but if you get drogba RIGHT NOW you will have great 2 seasons and greater opportunity to sign a really good player then ... i don't know maybe it's just speculations but i fancy gomez as a new beirhoff and as a supporter and assister to pato ... another thing is the 4-2-3-1 formation it's unapplicable in our current squad you can never play pirlo a winger and pato will lose much to play there also thses large strategic changes happens when you had a good season satisfied with your sqaud and then you get 4 born-wingers then you change your formation but for now we have 4 places empty (most probabely) and we need a new striker a new GK and an new GK as starters so there is only one so called strategic place for a new young player ... so i see currently we stick to our 4-3-1-2 formation :
------------boruc--------------
--zambro--nesta--zapata--janku
----flamini--pirlo--ambo---------
-----------kaka----------------
--drogba/gomez---pato---------
it's again my point of view :devs:

I've put Kaladze as a LB as those are also caracteristics he can play well.

I agree that he is good in that position. In the CL final vs. L'pool he was a solid sub to jankulovski - who was not too good.
However, i think that before this season started Kaladze announced/said that he wanted to play in a specific position and not change role every match - and preferred CB. So i dont expect that to happen. We could play Zambro on either side, and then have Oddo on the right (although not in great shape) or whoever we have. zambro is very useful esp. for this reason - he can play both left and right.

from what i read
i imagine that adebayor is like ibra.
sort of. Far less technically gifted, however stronger and much better in the air. He is more like Toni/Drogba/etc... a powerful postplayer. he does however possess some technique- so isnt directly useless in that sense.

Giancarlo lets agree to disagree because this debate can go on forever, to me Adebayor would be the better alternative to Drogba and Eto but I'm sure you prefer Eto. I know Arsenal fans get frustrated with Ade with the chances he misses (I have been one of them) but ask the same fans without Adebayor where would Arsenal be this season?

Gomez has never impressed me one bit to be honest, Mrki that line up looks perfect but you missed out R10. Also if the Ade transfer goes through I doubt it will be anywhere around the sum you're suggesting, it will be between 14-18 Million.

Although Veloso is undoubtedly an excellent player (potential wise at the very least) I am not sure why we would be after him....and not say....Moutinho, who has actually played for Portugal in the Euros, and who fits the type of player I thought we would be looking for....more of an attacking midfielder...to sub Kaka and Seedorf.

Now, since we already have Flamini...IMO, a defensive midfielder should be the last thing on our minds....unless the plan is to transform him into a CB, which was his original position.

Now if that is the motive behind us targetting him...then I am ok with that.

R10, Adebayor (still prefer Gomez, but prefer the African to Drogba and Etoo) and Veloso/Zapata and I am ok with our mercato....BORUC would b icing on the cake...but who wants a cake with no icing?

last week, we never wanted to sign any portuguese, bow it is we will sign veloso. anyways, i would love to have veloso here, if that wasnt already known, he is a great talent.

and to warro,
he isnt stuck in playing DM, i think Milan may use him more of a CB or maybe even an LB. He is also a good freekick taker, so he can add diversity instead of having pirlo take everything.

on his price, it has been reported that he has asked for his price to be lowered.

my take on adebayor, is that, i dont know why, i jst dont really like him.
1.) he is young
2.) he has a great scoring record
3.) had it in a great league

and the list goes on, so he has a great resume, but i still dont like him, maybe if he moves to milan, then i may change my perception on him.

on the moutinho issues, though i also really want him in milan, i doubt it would happen, as if we play 4-3-2-1, i see pato as the next attacker along side kaka, with seedorf as sub.

abd if its 4-3-1-2. then its Kaka alone, with seedorf as sub, so realistically i dont see it happening, unless we plan to play a new formation.

Good points payne....again contingent on the formation Carlo opts for.

There can be little certainty on the formation/lineup at this point, though, since Kaka can "conveniently" be considered a striker, when necessary.

In my view, 4-3-2-1......gives us the point man/striker = Pato or Adebayor/Drogba/Etoo/Boriello....with Seedorf and Kaka in support.

Who is the other support player in ur 2 players behind the striker, if Seedorf is a sub? Moutinho/R10?

4-3-1-2......gives us Pato and the point man/striker = Adebayor/Drogba/Etoo/Boriello...with Kaka/Seedorf in support.

I think one thing is a given...Berlu will want Carlo to field Pato more often next term....so I think he will start more often than not.

I see him partnering any striker/pointman we buy.

This in essence reduces the necessity for a R10, which maybe the rationale for or purported loss of interest....as we will not have space for both Seedorf and Kaka if we play with a traditional trequartista....unless Seedorf agrees to play as a traditional midfielder again, which I don't see happening.

mrki
14-06-2008, 09:13
Seed orf cannot play as a central midfielder anymore not becouse he doesnt want to but becouse he cant run alymore as much as fast football is asking him to. Also, he cant play more then half of his games at good enough level. To think that Seedorf can play all season long as AM is a suicide. I hope Galliani will do something about it now when we actually got rid of Gourcuff who was supposed to be the replacement but failed.

If Veloso can really play WELL as a CD and LB then its a smart move to buy him. We dont need another DM player, we have SIX.

Pato is a brilliant player and not to play him all season would be stupid, only if he feels tired or not fit enough he needs to be benched. To waste his talent is a crime. There are no better young players in the world then him.

Villa - why not? If he's to be sold from Valencia eventually. I personally dont think that strong Cf is needed, the forward just needs to be world class. But becouse of his age, Adebayor is our target aguess. Eto'o is a different player but the sistem would be more flexibile with him, on the other hand Ade or Drogba would add more to a long passing of Pirlo.

Siregar
14-06-2008, 09:15
Sorry for OOT, but I think we'll use 2-striker formation next season (especially when 1 world class comes).

We have now Zambrotta who is/was good regarding defensive skills and he can play on the left side and Bonera/Oddo on the right side plus we aslo have Flamini to play in Pirlo's or old-Seedorf position to support 4-3-1-2 formation. Any new decent CB would make old 4-3-1-2 wake up from his sleep. :D

Just compare this :

Dida
Cafu-Nesta-Maldini/Stam-Serginho/Pancaro
Gattuso-Pirlo-Seedorf
Kaka
Sheva-Inzaghi

with this :

Kalac/new Gk
Bonera/Oddo-Nesta-new CB-Zambrotta
Gattuso/Ambro-Pirlo/Flamini-Flamini/Pirlo
Kaka
Pato-new SC

So, new GK, new CB and new SC will make our line-up look like our legendary 2-sriker fromation (but the old one probably had better subs). :D

The English League is way overpriced and Milan are bargain hunters,i doubt Milan will spend more than 15million pounds on a striker.

I think Milan is going to spend a lot on a striker, and I think that striker is Eto'o. I know full well about Anelka, and how his form crashed.

Of course we are not going to outspend every team but these silly rumours are getting too repetitious

ARe you the quick to believe goal.com?

We spent a lot of money on one player already (Zambrotta)... what makes you think we won't spend a lot on others?

How about we buy Roman Pavluchenko and Alexander Anyukov? These two players have been putting up strong performances... the Russian market may be cheaper... and what great talents they are...

That is soooo truee!!!! you know whats even more annoying, that same template is replying over over again from our management for every player we`ve been linked with.

Episode nr.1 :

We are interested to _________ player!!!
We approach the ________ player!!
Than we meet with ________ club officials!!
They give green light!!
The_______ player wants milan!!!
We have an agreement with the________player!!!
Another round of meetings with ________ club officials!!!
The________club asks this __$___ price!!
Berluor& Galiani go public a and say his_______ overpriced and expensive for us!!

almost every player that we have been linked for can be inserted in the blanks

So sad!!

Unfortunately yes. We won't pay top dollar (euro) for the top talent because we are miserly and we penny pinch. Not qualifying for the CL does not help either. Don't hold your breath because we won't be getting anyone big for the striker department. In fact, we may not get a striker at all and use Paloschi as a contingency plan.

Hopefully, I am wrong, but I think come August 31st we will have signed no one of note for the striker department.

Giovanni

Last year deficit was around -60 m.
This year we must add -30 for not qualifying in CL.

Sadly yes, we have few moneys and if we'll invest some big moneys, it'll be for just 1 player.

I would rather have 6 underated players instead of a overated youngster. I can see the management turning arround and saying august 31st oh sorry we couldnt sign anyone.

Its there fault in a way that we have wasted so much money on Emerson, Oliviera.. I really thought this summer we would clean up the squad, oh wage structure is a joke. Dida has to be the most expensive bench goalee ever..

** i was kinda hoping we would sort out some of the issues from last season.

I think the biggest thing we need which not many people have said here is a like for like backup for Pirlo! Without pirlo our game fell apart, same thing without kaka. For a successful tranfers season we need at least the following

Pirlo sub- Cigarini?
Centerback- Zapata/ Canini?
Attacking Midfielder ?
Another decent left back? Grosso/ Pasquale/ Vargas?
New goalee, even if its a youth guy to come in second place. Also as we lose Dida.

In other and completely unrelated news Barcelona signed Alves for nearly 16 Million more than our guy. Of course Alves is overrated and has done nothing of commanding such an inflated transfer fee. Maybe whan he can say that he has provided crucial assists to Paul Scholes, Adrian Mutu and Kuyt- then he might be worth half the tag...and by then we'll have him for the same price we got Zambrotta for.

Our approach to the transfermarket is kinda like an archaeological videogame collector- we're boasting about the Atari and Pong we got in good condition while laughing at our idiot neighbours who bought the unproven junk like the PS3 and the Wii and is inviting all the kids on the block over to play

Here is the answer Milan is not cheap,i just think Milan do not want to be burned on players like Adebayor 30million dollars for a player that has had one good year?

Yes he is 24 and improve, maybe different league, different style of play and to honest with you guys.He holds onto the ball to long, just like Ronaldinho. You guys have to remember the teams attack will always run through Pirlo and Kaka.

I'm tired of listening to newspapers and Milan fans wishing for Ronaldinho,it makes no sense. He would kill Pirlo and Kaka's games, with hold on the ball.GET IT OUT OF YOUR MINDS HE IS NOT COMING,BE LOGICAL.

Just like said earlier before the latest news on Adebayor, don't expect these players coming.Milan already know who they are targeting and it's nobody that the newspapers have talking about.

The only player that i think Milan are really interested is out of these names is Berbatov, plays well with out the ball and also creates for others. He will not get in the way of players like Kaka,Pato,Pippo and Seedorf.

Don't be surprised if Milan do sign a player that i named earlier like Jeremy Menez,if there is no solution with a big name striker.

Did Milan win the CL with a big target man?NO,with Kaka always going to be in the mix.Milan will play on the ground and not in the air.Put some thoughts in your opinions and remember Milan use be the big spenders in Europe until players like,Lentini,Papin,Dugarry,Ziege,Contra,Moreno,Redondo,Gila,Oliviera,Ronaldo, and of course Jose Mari flopped.Milan will always make mistakes, but i believe they are trying to limit them.

If nothing happens, the fans warned Galliani that they'll protest, and this time not with some flyers. This time they'll block the season tickets sales and even make some scenes outside San Siro and at the gathering at Milanello."

Few years back Moggi and Galliani were signing players noone ever suspected they'll sign.
No news or rumors at all and suddenly they sign Nesta, Buffon, Kaka and Nedved.

Now we know months previously about the players Juve and Milan will sign, we know how are the negotiations going on, we know when did Galliani or Secco took the plane to England/Brasil/Spain and we know why did they go there.
We know the price the other team is asking, we know the exact amount Galliani and Secco are offering.

Of course, the other teams know that too and they steal the players under Milan's/Juve's noses.

What the hell happened ?

:rollani:The entity that has made you post in vain is not the real dru. The real dru is the guy that goes "forza Milan" all the time and pokes fun at Inter. THAT dru hasn't returned. I fear he won't return until we get what he was promised by Galliani THREE SEASONS AGO.

MM is haunted by the ghost of drucurl -with his condemnation our newfound obsession of fossilized players. The interesting thing about finding a fossil is that you only speak highly of it's high points. People talk about "the serious mistake aside.....Zambrotta played well :wallbang: " It's like finding some kind of relic related to Caesar or Alexander the Great....no one will talk of the serious mistakes they made...everyone will talk about how great they are :5ok:

NEW things on the other hand are subject to far more scrutiny than fossils because they are FORCED to prove themselves.....i.e. the STANDARDS are high for new stuff. So if Alves/Adebayor/Quaresma per chance happens to have a bad game people will come down HARD on them....it's like saying "My Atari NEVER froze this much :wth: " after getting bumped off an online game. BUT the thing about getting something new is the feeling of HOPE- Hope that it would be an improvement over what you had last....you know like "I HOPE that this new Wii will at least show the ball rounder than my Intellivision". Our management isn't giving us much to be hopeful about atm. Blast me all you want for being all emotional about it but football is largely about emotion

Ok I'm really off now -to do the ONE thing trinis do best :djn:

What's your problem? you're putting a something I said clearly out of context into your signature? What is your damn problem? Nothing more than an insulting jerk you are.

It's not my fault you're misinformed and haven't a clue on how the transfer process works. And it isn't my fault you don't understand that Italian players simply have longer careers than others. It's just the name of the game. It's just the way things work.

You better damn well explain yourself on why you think my quote is amusing or funny.

Zambrotta isn't old nor is he a fossil. Ignorance! There are many fine players in their 30s... Zambrotta is one of them. Yes, he's a bit rusty... but any player has difficult parts in their careers. For a while, Nesta himself was having issues in consistency and made mistakes. They are only human beings. Zambrotta made a mistake in the game, but it had nothing to do with the way he was playing, rather an error of communication. Italy thank goodness responded immediately. Give the man a god damn chance...

He's only a human being like the rest of us.

I also ask one thing... please remove my taken out of context quote from your signature. And not only that the facts speak for themselves. We have signed three young players this season (24-26 years old).

Our defense situation is calamitous!!!!!!!!! Nesta is great, but is injure prone...Maldini give us amazing performances last season, but we don´t know how many games he can give us this year, or if he will shows the same level...Kaladze is a good backup, but was horrible last season...Bonera improved, but I´m not confortable with him in the central defence as I´m at RB...Unless Digão shows a level that I never saw, he needs to be loaned...

I hope like in the past, our board are just making smoke screens, and we will have a few surprise signings at the end of the trasnfer window.

Btw, there´s no way Adebayor is worth 30Mill, and I realy hope we will be "cheap", and don´t pay this amount for him. With this money I would buy L. Fabiano(if his spanish passport will be ready) and Alex and the team will be better. Don´t get me wrong Adebayor fans...I think the lad is a good player, but at this price, no thanks!!!

What we really needs is to spend big in a starter CB(and a good backup), and in another young DM or CM(like Hernanes)...or scoring 2 or 3 goals will not be sufficient to win a game next season...

See? And you are blaming the moderators for not doing that when we have been trying to do that all along only to be threatened by comments like "ban me if you want?"

***

On one hand there are those who say whatever they want in this forum saying that 'it's my opinion' and "if you don't agree, it's your choice". Then of course there are some who are forever cynical and still think that they are the smartest fan in the world.

And of course, when the moderators reminded them to be just a bit in their post and they begin to say 'ban me if you like'.

***

On the other hand, we have those who got completely fed up with some specific members. And at the end of the day we lose some really top quality posters.

Can't some of you just learn how to post a more constructive post instead of those bashing and talking trash about the management.

For god's sake, we have been hearing that for three years.

***

When you make an argument, back up with points, not cynicism. Irony is welcome, but pointless, baseless, and redundent and seemingly joking argument is going to be strictly prohibited.

We're totally reinforcing the defense. I'm just worry about the forwards... we need one soon... Borriello is a good supplemental forward... he might play well along another (like the Di Natale-Quagliarella partnership)...

Our defense is getting reinforced. Nesta's problem during the season is he suffered suspensions a bit more than others... I thought Kaladze was pretty good... but needs to stop making minor mistakes that can turn into major problems..

We are getting reinforced though... Zambrotta and Antonini (left back)... though I'd still recommend another defender... Digao never really played. He played one game I think and he was good from what I heard...

I don't mind Adebayor... I'd want Milan to pay maximum 20 million euros for him... he's not worth 30 million.

Either of Akinfeev or Isaksson in goal, or signing both would be good, but as previously mentioned Adebayor at 40 mill euro is too expensive for a player who hasn't done that much. I think an offer of that much would get Benezma. I like the Russian forward Pavlyuchenko, a taller version of es imo, and if we got Boruc or Isaksson in goal I 'd be happy with him as forward. As mentioned our squad is still too thin, with too many average injured players, and the club still haven't bought the promised star after 3 years. Splash the cash or just shut up the moaning about taxes and lies about we tried.

Their offers are like me making a 20 euro offer to buy a car. It's always unrealistic.

If we manage to sign all 3, then it might just happen - but still wouldnt be too sure about it.
We most likely wont manage, or even try, to sign all three any way. Veloso is linked to us, and Braida said (according to several links @ fcitalia.com) that we are interested in him. He said it wont happen now.... but anything can happen.
dont know what position he plays in. i think holland plays better without seedorf, and so would Milan, personally i would be definitely willing to sell him, i think his time is up, and there are lot of other player younger, better, faster, and cheaper at his postion.

eg.) Daniel Carvalho of cska moscow.

a line of

-------------Striker-------------
Carvalho------KAKA--------PATO
--------Pirlo--------Flamini------

IMO, seedorf is still needed, not for the 1st squad, just like Rui Costa a couple years ago after Kaka's arrival. But then again, will he or will he not accept that kinda role, is another matter.

Van Der Vaart looks really good, fast, moders and capable of playing at that position. And Seedorf is a player that can play world class football still, but in smaler number of matches per season. Having Pirlo, Ambrosini, Gattuso, flamini, Seedorf, KAka' and one more fast midfielder would be wonderfull. But one more is needed for sure. And rotation is needed, not like in past years.

The "problem" is that our players: Marek, Pirlo, AMbro, Rino have all shown in EURO that they are not fast enough, they are all overplayed.

http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=736642 are we that cheap??-meaning if we want a WC striker why are we being cheap and publicly blasting the price. The all-wise, all knowing Giancarlo proceeds to reply: ARe you the quick to believe goal.com?

We spent a lot of money on one player already (Zambrotta)... what makes you think we won't spend a lot on others?

How about we buy Roman Pavluchenko and Alexander Anyukov? These two players have been putting up strong performances... the Russian market may be cheaper... and what great talents they are... Since we only spent 7 Million on Zambrotta I found this hillarious....I mean to think that a club supposedly as big as Milan would fret over spending 7Mill on a player in a position that had been extremely poor is ........well I'm speechless

Of course embarrassed by the utter stupidity of your post which I might have highlighted somehwat ;) you proceed to say: What's your problem? you're putting a something I said clearly out of context into your signature?

Naturally I wouldn't expect the same people who scrutinise my every word to have similar standards for everyone else. Dru disagrees with the big boys therefore dru should be insulted and humiliated at will :respect: Of course, having just been insulted publicly (by someone I never insulted personally)...here comes the ever so just and balanced Jeff, to correct the evil dru (while cleverly (?) not naming him) and lay down the law :proud: :

I realize that I am immature and stupid, but when I grow up I want to be just like you

P.S. When I say "ban me if you want" is not a threat. I merely say it because it seems that you develop an allergic reaction to a differnce of opinion..especially if it's a strong one. I realize that the lot of you can't stand me because of my criticism of certain developments in Milanello. If I am so obnoxious to you you have the power to get rid of me and I suggest you use it. That way everyone will be happy, and I'll get it through my thick skull that a forum is not a place to discuss ideas and opinions.

It's really just a matter of presentation, not a matter of different opinion. And I hope you will understand.

The Italic part is where it shows the fallacy of your logic. On one hand you say that we can't stand different opinion, especially the strong one. And you say we have the power to ban you for that.

Didn't you see that we have never intended to ban a member because of difference in opinion?

Hasn't this been obvious already for the past N years while you are around?

The last bolded part: Your posts don't seem to be discussing opinions and rumors anymore but becomes a routine bashing of some of our existing players and incoming players, and incoming new members too.

At the end of the day, I hope that you, as an experienced poster now in MM and probably in other forums, will set a good example for the rest of the new, incoming members.

Thanks, it's not about being 'negative'; it's about being understanding about the situation. Bashing for once or twice (like we all did about Dida or Oddo's dismal crossing) is understandable. But doing it consistently won't do good whatsoever. It's like I get a 0 marks for my exam and my friends pick me up for that mistake for the rest of my life.

Re: new members: They are new, and we know that some of his reasonsings are false as well. The key is how you teach/show him why the reasoning is problematic. Ridiculing another person's point of view usually don't help, though I can understand how frustrating sometimes these posts are.

Perhaps it'll be better if we show them concretely why their reasoning is false instead of using irony. Maybe we will all be better off...

It's ok to bash Carlo; we all know his limitations; we all know that sub. Brocchi for Ambro at 80mins when Milan is losing 2-0 doesn't make sense.

Then I started to ask myself why he did that. And why not? Who can he put in? another striker and hopefully something good will happen? There is no more game plan, because you don't have the players to execute. Buying Flamini is a good one because it gives us option in midfield.

It's understandable why people are frustrated about the coach, for instance, but it's not understandable why people keep getting frustrated about the coach when obviously other factors are well in motion that we have often overlooked.

We are all being critical; we all know there is a problem. Not saying that "we have a probem" every day doesn't mean that we forget about the problem, because by saying the problems repeatedly, we develop a kind of mentality that REALLY there is a BIG problem that CANNOT be solved.

Now that's the kind of mentality we all don't want to develop. That we can leave it to th Interista.

Bottom line: We all know the problems; we all understand the problems. But saying that there is a problem without really thinking deeper about how to solve the problem won't help to solve. That's a key take-home for all of us who are reading the post to take.

(Just to give you another example: we all know that Italy is in deep trouble; yes the offside, the disallowed goals; all these added up, but Italy is still in trouble. I think we all agree on that, and we don't have to exaggerate it by repeatedly saying it because, at the end of the day, it's not over because if Italy beats France and Romania draws / loses, Italy is still through.

WHy lose hope and keep focusing on the negative when the game is not even over?)

Anyway the goal.com article about Adebayor is poorly translated. Berlu actually said that Adebayor is "very" expensive and not "too" expensive

EDIT: our frustrations come not from knowing we have problems...they come from seeing the SOLUTIONS to these problems float by without us even batting an eye.

If Carlo wanted Ribery he shouldn't mind Quaresma who are essentially the same player with Quaresma being more talented imho but Ribery being more functional

I simply think that his price is a fair one. Not too ex not too cheap. And yes he has been playing much better relatively with the Italians (except the Euro 2008 for his horrid against Romania but otherwise a decent match for him).

The key here is whether Milan can bring the best out of him like Milan did with Pirlo and Seedorf and Kaka. You can actually count R99 too only until that guy go and screw himself up.

Another issue is injury. We have seen Janku and Oddo being hampered by injury around Zambro's age and I'm worried that the same may happen.

In either case, this is a fair purchase. I'll give a 6 or 7 out of 10 for the purchase.

Probably this sums up what everyone is saying (I hope?) - J

Worried that he really said something nasty to Inter. We all seem to agree with the fact that Milan never buy playrs who have personality issue (except R99 but R99 is a tricky one. He was not supposed to be like that until he got injured. Oh well...)

For a club like Milan it's cheap.
But it is expensive for a player like Zambrotta. N/O to the guy, but we overpayed. That's nine milion euros + 1.6mil £ if we finish 4th next year, am I right? Thats about 11-12 milion for another washed up player. Now I'm not saying he'll be no good but we should have offered 6 milion max.
Barca bought him for 14mil if I'm correct, so they'll only lose 2million.
At least one club made a good deal...

It so frustrating, we always search for a bargain but in the end we always overpay. (Ronaldo (+wages) , Emerson (+wages) , Oliveira, Gilardino (+++wages) )
With what we lost on Ronaldo alone we could have bought a new player.
Damn inefficient management. :5milan:

There are 2 mistakes : it should be tgcom.it and the Corierre.

Source credibility:

Perfect: acmilan; MM

OK: tg.com; La Gazzetta; Corriello; Tuttosport

Bad: Channel4; Eurosport; soccernet; goal.com; calciomercato; tuttomercatoweb; tribalfootball

I hope you won't mind giving my opinion on this and disagreeing with certain parts of your signature, Jeff.

1. Acmilan.com is the best source for official news. Sometimes there you can find articles where Galliani and other members of the team talk about the future transfers and this is the most reliable source. They don't take words out of context and they don't make some spectacular titles in order to sell newspapers.
There was this episode with Suazo, but that was only an exception.

2. Milanmania
-yeah, well, if you have "OFFICIAL" in topics tittle then i guess it's reliable and taken from the official site.

3.Tuttosport
- Absolutely awful source. Tuttosport is a Turin based newspaper and they are disgustingly pro-Juve (even for the Juve fans they are pure joke). All they do is linking Juventus to every single player, from Ronaldinho to some 10 years old junior from New Zeland.
Just like another newspaper i'll talk about later, Tuttosport writes (invents) only stories that their readers (99% of them Juve fans) would like to hear.

4. tgcom
- this is actually part of mediaset, owned by Berlusconi. They are pro-Milan and you can find a lot of news about Milan, but many times these stories are again what Milan fans want to hear and most of the times they have nothing to do with reality.

5. Gazzetta Dello Sport
- My favorite and yet my most despised newspaper.
They are my favorites because they always offer a great read, but i dislike them because they do things Tuttosport is doing, with the difference being that they are pro-Milan and kinda anti-Juve.
Whenever Juve are after some player Gazzetta immediately starts writing how Juve won't get that player and how Milan/Inter/foreign team will steal that player from Juve. They are always the first ones to claim how Buffon, Trezeguet, Camoranesi are just about to leave Juve (they've been doing that for many years now).
On the other hand, they are also the first ones who know how Buffon, Ronaldinho, Drogba etc are just about to sign for Milan.
If we trust Gazzetta Ronaldinho signed for Milan 10 times already, Buffon signed 5 times and Shevchenko never left Milan.
Of all the stories that came from Gazzetta , not more than 1% became a reality.

5. Corriello
- I guess you mean Corriere ? Corriere dello sport ?
Awful source, simply awful.
They never quote club officials and they simply invent their stories.
Actually, to be honest, they don't invent stories but they are a newspaper of the "theories".
They don't write "Ronaldinho will sign for Milan". Instead they work on a story and they try to find a logical reason why would Ronaldinho go to Milan.
Kinda like "Ronaldinho didn't extend his contract with Barcelona, he's not playing there and there is a big possibility that he's going to leave. Milan are interested, they have many Brasilians so maybe Milan will be his next club".
They do that with every single player :)

6. Channel4 and Calciomercato
- This aren't bad sources. They simply sumarize the news of the day. If Gazzetta, Tuttosport, Corriere, the Sun, Marca, AS write something about transfers, Channel4 and Calciomercato put these stories on their sites , always mentioning where did they take the article from.
I like both these sites because you can read where does the article come from and you can see if it's a serious source they took it from or it's not a serious source.

7. Goal.com
- They do pretty much the same thing as Channel4 and Calciomercato but they take most of their stories from some unreliable sites and that's why goal.com is a joke.

8. Tribalfootball-The worst of the bunch. They just invent stories.

I don't know about the other sites because i don't visit them at all.

Again, we spent nine million, not seven million. That's by no means cheap (it's not horrendously expensive like Alves but you see my point). And his wages are higher than average. My post is not wrong and I stand by everything I say. I know very well how transfers work. Nice try.

I'm not going to sit here and argue with you all day.

Anyways, I'd much rather not talk to you in the future. So after all this you adopt the arrogant stance after I extend the olive branch?

Cost of top rated defenders (unless you think we shouldn't go after the top)
Zambrotta was signed for 7Million POUNDS Click here (http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jun13i.html)
Ferdinand 33m
Alves 23m
Thuram 22m
Nesta 19m
Staam 17m
Samuel 17m
Cannavaro 13.7m

^ The above list tells me that great defenders co$t

Campbell was free (my bad :D )

Thuram is one of the worst defenders I've seen as of late. To call him great... did you see how absent minded he was in the game against Holland? Sure he was ONCE great. But he's 36 years old if I'm right...

Either way, I see nothing arrogant about not wanting to talk to you anymore.

And like it or not, Zambrotta isn't washed up, thrust.

When did you start watching football ?
I'm asking seriously.

Thuram was a hell of a defender, among the best 3 in the world in the period from 1998-2006.
When Juve bought him he was a great defender, he wasn't a useless and slow old man like he's today and those ~20m euro were a great piece of bussines done by Moggi because Thuram deserved every single penny payed for him.
So why not calling Thuram a GREAT ?

But he's far from that now. His defending in this Euro Cup has been nothing less than horrendous.

AC Milan is so terribly esitating because there are no money
Silvio said AC Milan has to run with the own legs
no kidding
that's a good choice
... but if you have Galliani, who sign Dida until 2012 for 5 mil. € per year...

and now he signed Lambretta, clearly on the sunset boulevard..

come on!

ps.: please, I want to ask to the moderators to pray the user "Giancarlo" to modify his firm, because this is not a political forum, so please he should erase "Forza Italia", because it's a political referring, it's the name of an italian (rubbish) party . I never really understood your affection with Quaresma.
I always saw a player with incredibille technique but without much use of his technique.
For years i've been waiting for him to explode but i'm being disappointed over and over again.

I'm not doubting his quality, the guy is extremely talented and only being in Portuguese 23 men squad is a proof that he's been doing something right. But whenever i watched him for Portugal or in an important match for Porto, he was always the worst player on the pitch.
Such a shame because he had the potential to be better than CR7.

Regarding attackers..is it possible we are being linked with all of them and then SURPRISE !! we buy someone whom we were never linked with.

As far as i can remember, we are not linked to the following:

Toni
Villa
Torres
Klose
Podolski

All the rest, I guess, I have read some news in a way or another that we are being linked to... any other strikers we are not been rumored about

Brasiliero, here some info for you about Jeremy Menez.

He is 21,stand at about 6ft.
He is linked to ManU,Liverpool, inter and Milan.I hear alot of interest from ManU and Milan in the French newspapers.Mancini of Inter and Fergie have praised him in the press.

Played with Benzema and Nasri on the French U21.He has amazing control and seems to see 2-3plays ahead of when it happens.

Very good balance on the ball, very quick out of his dribbles and very fast.
He can play 3-4diffiirent attacking positions. That would make him a pefect sub for Kaka,Pato and Seedorf. He can also be play like C.Ronaldo type wing.
8-10million pounds to get him today.

Dru, I'm with you on this one as well. This forum is meant to be a place where people can freely exchange views and not to start personal insults whenever someone's views dont match theirs.

I've read Giancarlo's posts and almost all are direct, personal insults to other members who with all due respect have been here much longer than him. Senior members should be treated with more respect and not be allowed to be called names by a 22 year old newbie whose views cannot be challenged without resorting to personal insults and threats.

Dru, I'm with you on this one as well. This forum is meant to be a place where people can freely exchange views .

if I may further elaborate.. freely exchange views only with the full acknowledgment that one takes sole responsibility for what they post.

Remember that freedom of speech doesn't mean "this is my opinion and I can say whatever I want". It's not about saying whatever you want. It's about saying what you want without insulting others, where others also include the players.

Yes Jeff, but you can't go around calling other members "jerks" or "ignorant" and accuse them of not knowing what they're talking about. If you're going to reprimand people from insulting our players, then the very least you can do is reprimand someone who has just joined this forum and start off by telling everyone who disagrees with him how little they know about transfers and then resort to direct name-calling. I think the arrogance and attitude is appalling and I'm not going to sit back and let other members/friends be insulted like this.

well jeff, isn't calling someone a jerk (as giancarlo did with dru) a personal insult?? yet you did not react to it.

on the other hand, if dru, mrki, me, or other posters say something negative about the management, you and warro are the first to react. you keep saying that negative talk won't bring any good to the team. Do you think saying positive things like "great job in getting Emerson", "What a good subtitution for Sheva we had in RO" or similar, will bring something good? both are opinions, and if someone has one, he has the right to express it.

Ok, you and Warro are moderators, and I appreciate your postings, and the work you do to keep things cool in here, but how is your "positive" opinion more right than our "negative"?

IMHO, everyone should be allowed to express their opinions, as long as they do not insult other posters, or players, or management on personal level. Saying what a poor market by Galliani, or what a poor performance by Dida is not an insult. It's someone's opinion and should be respected just as your opinion that management knows what it's doing, or that player X will get better.

I'm not insulting anyone. I suggest that you take that back. And if being longer here is an open invitation for one to hurl abuse, then so be it. I'll be out of here in no time.

I am treating people with respect, but when I am disrespected, respect will not be returned.

And saying that someone is being a jerk is putting it lightly. I could have used more stern, harsh language towards someone... but I implied that they were being a jerk about something.. in particular their attitude. The word is directed at the attitude of the individual, not themselves. Sometimes, especially on political matters, I can be a real jerk about things myself.

gian - i believe you have no intention to insult anyone. but i think your problem is you're too conservative to not to take other's idea and treat them respectfully. if someone has any ideas that don't match with yours, you require them to prove. why would ppl have to do this, when this forum is supposed to be a place for fun, not a university exam for someone to brainstorm and use their logic to prove what they say.

another problem is that you take it personal when people disagree with your ideas. the fact is that, as i said before you never want to listen, and never want to accept or be convinced. you keep telling ppl they don't know about transfer and the management. that, to them - some senior members, is like disrespect, not as hard as an insult. its true that not everyone has chances to watch the players in action but it doesn't mean their opinions are wrong because of that.

the thing is you need to open your heart and accept things others think about and respect them. i'm pretty sure when you say "sorry i was wrong" or "you were right about..." ppl in here will not bash at you.

overall i personally think you did a good job in contributing in this forum in general and make this thread lively in particular :)

just my 2 cents.

I'm sorry, but in my book, calling someone a "jerk" is an insult, no matter how you try to phrase it. And the fact that you insist that you could have used even stronger language shows how highly you think of yourself and your opinions and how lowly you value others', particularly those who dont think like you. No matter whether you direct your language at someone's attitude or personality or whatever, in a friendly forum like this, you have no right to treat other people with such disrespect.

And no one is hurling any abuse at you. I am simply voicing my opinion just like you are. If you want to leave the forum, then go ahead, I could care less.

BTW forum, what are your views on Mertesacker. I have been impressed by his performance since the 2006 WC. If he wants to join us, he would cost around 12 million euros. Is he worth the investment?

I think Mertesacker just a mediocre center back. Against Croatia you could see how good he is. That's it !

What's happening to this forum?

It's like a soap drama with a mixture of Oprah...

I guess 4 years of crappy mercato is finally getting to us all... We starting to sound like inter fans... frustrated and arguing against each other...

If Eto'o will not go to Milan we should go for Huntelaar. This is the best option.

I don't think so ... he seems not to have the right mentality.
About football, I wouldn't mind him to come in Milan, but would he be a great addition to the team ?
Everywhere he went/goes, we can read that there are problems with him (for moment, nothing in Sampdoria except his sketches when he took some yellow cards or red cards). But he has been only one year in Sampdoria lol ... and I thought he had signed for them just some days before Euro ??

According to this article by Corriere dello Sport: (http://www.corrieredellosport.it/Notizie/Calcio/33448/Il+Milan+fa+i+conti+per+Adebayor)

Milan have spent €19,5 M - (Zambro 9M, Borriello 7M, Antonini 3.5M)
Milan have earned €29,5 M - (Gila 15M, RO 10M, Grimi 3.5M, Storari 1M)
[if the Simic deal if finalized, € 4M will be added to the tally]
Through youth loans/selling half the price tag and selling permanently, Milan have so far earned €11,7 M - (Matri 2M, Marzoratti 1.2M, Astori 1M, Sammarco 2.5M, Pozzi 3M & Aba*te 2M [no destination yet, but that is the price] ) - Galliani intends to try to extend this further to €24-25 M.
---------
pretty good business so far, I'd say. I'm not sure what the deal is for all those youngsters, aka which have been permanently sold and which have been 1/2-sold. I don't think any of those will turn out to be REAL Milan material, but players for the bench or for starting spots at Fiorentina, Udinese, Lazio and Napoli (teams which will be in 5-8th place, unless Milan repeat themselves). I havent seen them play much at all, so i cannot really judge - but they arent no Pato's, Balotelli's or even Paloschi's....
Hope we keep Abate though. He's been awesome this season, and has real potential to improve... considering we have three LB's (Janku, Favalli, Antonini) and "less than 3 " RB's (Zambro, Oddo, Bonera[?]) - he could be a nice sub. - or maybe one more year to gain experience could be good - havent made up my mind :rollani:

Aba*te 2M [no destination yet, but that is the price] ):

His destination is now official on acmilan.com: he's a Milan player and Pozzi is an Empoli player ...

I read somewhere on the net few days ago that Berlusconi had given money to have again a positive balance and so cancel our debt. He maybe plans to give an extra to buy our next striker ? lol

He is great player..very,very fast I heard somewhere that he run's somthing about eleven second on 100m.He is right winger whit great pass skills and dribling solutions!
I watch him 3,4 times and he was prove himself on youth festival in Tulon whit one gola and assit i think.I is good in taktical option when wee need presure on flank to beat small teams!

I rate him, he and Antonini killed us on the left hand side when we played against Empoli.

Does anyone here know the full line up of the italian side from the Toulon Tournament? Were being linked with the Left back, Bocchetti this morning.

Like many others I really want that CB to make us stronger, but I know that our market will mostly be rated and judged by whom the striker we buy will be.
Eto'o = awesome
Sheva = epic fail

Can abate be that player many people in this thread have been talking about, aka someone who can replace seedorf and give both offensive and defensive support? Seeing as he is a side-midfielder, that is somewhat where we played seedorf in the 4-3-1-2 formation...
This article (gazzetta) (http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Calciomercato/Primo_Piano/2008/06_Giugno/13/MERCATOINTER.shtml) talks about Inter's mercato, esp. their search for a winger. What i found most shocking was, however, the price that Roma would be willing to sell Mancini - € 13M + a player.... this is really low for a player like him. it is of course due to his contract expiring in the summer 2009. But imagine we switch the "player" to € 5-10M (or Brocchi, who they'd refuse) - that would be a nice signing. In case Abate isnt made for that role, esp. as his main role, Mancini would fill those requisites …

I'm pretty sure you're wrong about Cassano :) He just completed his move to Sampdoria a couple of weeks ago (he was on loan from Real Madrid).

Hey guys thanks for the support :proud: The way we behaved today is how the forum should always be (i.e. sticking up for eachother) Thanks rt9, stitch Gio-mania, remote2book and anyone else who I forgot :respect:

So far all my mercato hopefuls have either been underwhelming (Lahm) or downright rubbish (Gomez, Quaresma) But I don't feel too bad....all the Benzema groupies are going :wth: atm :D Veloso, Moutinho haven't impressed....Cech has made high profile errors...actually only Podolski, Miguel have looked the bill as possible transfers...unless Berlu is engineering the greatest transfer coup in history to get us Villa or CR7 :googly: I really don't mind having Podolsko though as he is extremely versatile and most importantly FAST :1old:

Mrki keeps pleading and no one listens but he IS right WE NEED SPEED. Enough with the "all tactical" players already. My suggestion is a guy from Portugal....I can't remember his name atm but I'm pretty sure it starts with a "Q" :guw:

While others here may prefer Quaresma, I am not at all upset with Abate's capture.

I am always happy when Milan aquire Italian talent, as long as the gap between the aquisition and other options on the market isn't that significant (cue several responses from "lake of pitch" country to the defense of Super Quaresma)

While it might be silly to compare these players, my defense is that we are, after all, in silly season. :D

Instead of Miguel Veloso I would be interested in seeing us acquire Inler from Udinese.

If you want speed, you have now Abate !! :rone:

It's true we need one or two players who can run very "fastly" (this word sounds weird to me lol) ... but if they walk like Seedorf, their speed will be useless !! lol

The best would be a guy who runs very very fastly in our defense (so the most probable would have been a side-Back but we won't get any new, I don't know any CB running really fast** ??), one in our midfield (now Abate + Kaka' when he has the ball) and one in our attack.

** and who is a good CB too lol

As much as I like him it's far time that he steps up....less talented players like Ribery are making waves because of their sheer determination. Abate IS great and from what I heard IS very fast (finally) and is good on the wing. He mightn't be making waves in the media but if you want good football his acquisition will probably suit us better than the metro guy. Dennilson was one of the most talented footballers ever but never applied himself. I hope Quaresma and Cassano will wake up one day and set the world on fire but until then Milan must progress :5ok:

So for moment, our team is:

GK - Kalac, Dida, Storari, Abbiati
Defense - Oddo, Zambrotta, Bonera, Nesta, Kaladze, Maldini, Jankulovski, Antonini, Favalli
Midfield - Gattuso, Pirlo, Ambrosini, Flamini, Emerson, Brocchi, Abate, Kaka', Seedorf
Attack - Pato, Inzaghi, Borriello, Paloschi

Sold/Loaned/Retired - Cafu, Serginho, Gilardino, Gourcuff

Would be good if people update that list sometimes lol !!

By looking at that list and by knowing that our management said that we will have a team composed of approximately 24/25 players, and to finish by knowing that they seemingly try to get a CB, maybe a GK, even if no news since Abbiati came back and the end of Lloris story, and someone in front (offensive midfielder and/or striker), we can already try to know who will be the next to leave:
- At least 1 GK of course, probably 2 GKs if we buy one
- 1 midfielder (my 2 cents on Brocchi lol)
- 1 striker unless Paloschi stays as a "joker" for "money time" of important matches or to allow Pato/Inzaghi or others to have some rest

Yep, no, I don't know actually ... I don't know when we can say that a defender (defenser ?) is fast, so I'll let all of you judge yourself about that lol.
I never thought Nesta was/is really fast, he's "just" smart, he knows where to be, like Maldini and other great(est) CB. So even if the guy in front of him runs a lot faster than him, he is rarely beaten because he's always right-placed on the pitch to stop him.

There's a little guy in Brazil (I think he's playing in France atm) named Rathino.......like Quaresma he has it all but hasn't come good on his talent as yet...I wonder if Leonardo is scouting on him??:1spie:

Eduardo Ratinho is a 20yo RB from Brazil (Corinthians). He has been loaned to Toulouse in January 2008. His loan contract lasts 18 months and Toulouse has an option to buy him ...

So it would be difficult for us to buy him now I think, because that would mean that his loan contract would have to be broken and then he would have to be sold ... no way this can happen. The only solution to take someone in this situation is to give money to Toulouse to buy him and make them loaning him to us, and then let us buying him.
