Ok, first suggestion: Berbatov can boyout his contract by famous article 17 for 1.3 mln pounds! Or euro, nevermind..... wow.
tuttomercatoweb.com
How long has Barbatov played for Tottenham? As far as I know, the player who wants to use that article must have played 3 years for the respective club and is alraedy 28 years old. And when is his contract expired? If he wants to buy his contract at the end of this season for 1,3 millions pounds, I assume his contract ends in June 2009 with his salary around 25k pounds weekly.

Thank you for the info.
I prefer Drogba :D (as long as not overvalued)
Droba plus Pato seems good combination.
coaches switch?

as much as I like Carlo, I like Lippi more :)
as for the squad, we need a new GK, the possible moves are Buffon and Frey, as both have been heavily linked for a move to San Siro...
we need to reinforce our defence, by buying Zambrotta :D
and also someone to replace Nesta/Kaladze more often... but we're brining Darmian and we already have Bonera, so a CB Purchase seems impossible :grinser:
as for our attacking line we really need to find someone instead of Ronaldo and all will be good ;D
the midfield is good but buying De Rossi wont hurt lol :P

i would love Hamsik to replace Brocchi and Emerson. Benzema to replace ronaldo/ inzaghi and see how well Borriello does by the end of the season. Pasqual, zambrotta and De silvestre for the wings and frey in goal. Rosina as a super sub for seedorf and kaka. And barzagli in defence.
Lippi and Milan... wow. It would be incredible. But I want Carlo to stay.

Corvino says on calciomercato.com that:" If Frey requested to leave the club he would not mind exchange him for Gila."
Personally I would not take this exchange, Gila is younger and its a lot easier to buy a goalkeep then a striker.
Speaking about playing games, in Fifa 08 in PS2 after 4 years, 3 in Osasuna, one in Tottenham (3 Spanish Primera, 1 Copa del Ray, 1 CL - 1 Premier League, 1 F.A Cup, 1 League Cup, 1 UEFA cup) in semi pro and the goalkeeper in easy i took in charge of Milan, the squad didn't have Kaka (29 in PSV), Kalac 38, Dida 37, Oddo 35, Cafu 41!!, Maldini 43 retiring, Bonera 30, Kaladze 33, Favalli 39!!, Gattusso 33, Emerson, 35, Ambro 34, Pirlo 32, Gorky 25, Seedorf 34, Janku 34, Gilan 29, Pato 12 with 91 ability and 1200 euro per week salary, the game seem to have been motivated by our "old aged" strategy...... :D :D :D :D
Just read on channel4 that Ferrari's contract expires this summer at Roma. He may not be the greatest CB (even though i rate him highly as he can be excelent on his day) but he can be of great use for us and provide excelent cover in our backline.
we have Bonera, Kaladze, and Nesta...

I cannot wait to see what kind of mess the management is going to make this transfer season.
As for possible transfer targets, a new goalkeeper, two wing backs, one central defender, a midfielder who can sub for Kaka, one or two new strikers (depends on whether Ronaldo and Gilardino will be leaving).
why dont we go for quaresma? it is a mystery to me. he can be a ideal player to subsitute kaka/seedorf.

Lippi?
I would prefer Mourinho!!!
I do believe that Gila will leave Milan in the summer with Viola his most likely destination, though it won't be a direct swap with Frey.
Benzema is the striker that i would like to see at Milan. Start working on him now to get first option on the player before it becomes a auction frenzy.
Benzema arrival will depend alot on whether we go for R10.
As much as i would have like and dreamed about having R10 at Milan I think his chance was last season and its now time to move onto bigger things like Benzema.
We also need to address the problems at the back. I would love to have Ramos but Madrid will be hell bent before they let him go. Milan should consider a serious approach for Mexes. He is real class. I do believe that Zambrotta will arrive but that will not be enough. Many players will leave Milan and many will retire. Cafu, Maldini, Favalli, serginho, Simic, etc.
They need to be replace with some type of class.
We shouldn't be looking for cover for positions, we should be looking for players to start.
I personally think Zapata is the best option for CB from inside Italy, for me he's better than Barzagli & Ferrari and possibly even Mexes. Plus he'd be easier to get than the Frenchman. Vargas for LB and although i'd love to see Alves or Eboue at RB, Zambrotta seems the more realistic choice.
I hope everyone had fun reading and writing in Winter Mercato thread, despite nonexistent market :-)
Now lets focus on summer, and some young lads with suntanned skin :-)

yes, i meant "in our game versus Udinese"..
Zapata is damn fast. With experience he will become a top defender.
I really think he is the ideal choice for us though i do not know how much he might cost. £7 - £10 million maybe?
He is fast becomming my top cb transfer choice for us in the summer.
IMHO Zap already has loads of experience. :smileani:

I fail to understand why you always put these discussions on feelings towards the players. "Seedorf haters" or " "Seedorf lovers"; "Dida haters" or "Dida lovers".
I think the focus of every discussion should be technical. I criticise Dida because i think he's a technical weak link. I don't hate him as a person.
Seedorf has done much for us, but yesterday his behaviour wasn't professional and respectful for the group. I agree with Jim on this one. Even though i defended Seedorf a couple of weeks ago (from a technical point of view).
Let's stop with this nonsense about haters and lovers. It's not Romeo and Juliet. :sun:

Yea whats up with Seedorf walking off the field on the other side, showing no respect for the teammate that was by the line to come in. Bad Seedorf...
I like the way Jim and Gio think, Zapata and Vargas for CB and LB, niceeeeeeeee !!!
Seedorf is a type of player that can only be satisfied when he holds the ball much, makes killer passes, assists and scores. Last game he was an invisible man, I think he was more disappointed about himself than selfish. Do not hate him, please.
Yes, I like Zapata and Vargas, too. But if we have Barzagli and Zambrotta, our dressing room will be better as they're both italian World Cup winner.
And Amauri. We really need one strong and prolific stricker.

The striker we have targeted and are in talks with is Drogba, according to market expert Luca Cattani.
He said the only concern is Drogba post surgery with his knee. He probably needs to undergo knee surgery again in summer.
Their nationality doesn't matter much when it comes to the dressnig room. The only real factor is their personality and I have neither heard good nor bad things as for these players.
Didn't want to start a new thread for this, so I'll just put it here. These are the players that are going into their last 6 months of their contracts and will be available for free this summer if no new contract is signed.
Alberto (Siena); Adani (Empoli); Balleri (Livorno); Balli (Empoli); Ballotta (Lazio); Bega (Cagliari); Bertotto (Siena); Birindelli (Juventus); Cafu (Milan); Cardone (Parma); Castellazzi (Samp); Cesar (Inter); Coly (Parma); Cordoba (Inter); Corini (Torino); Couto (Parma); De Rosa (Genoa); Favalli (Milan); Ferrari (Roma); Figo (Inter); Fontana (Palermo); Fontana (Torino);

Cordoba could be an interesting proposition.

Ujfalusi,Fortin, and Cordoba...and of course Il Capitano Maldini!!:))
I would love 2 see Barzagli and Zaccardo as the latter could also play as a centre back, they're both young and experienced. But i wouldnt mind having Vargas and zapata on our team.and i would also like 2 bring back Borriello if Ronaldo leaves.

Jim, I don't know which Cesar that is. Even though the only thing I found on Julio Cesar(GK) was that he signed a 3 year deal in 2005, I'm sure he has signed an extencion since then so it only makes sense however to be the midfielder.

Drogba: Milan v Barca
Wednesday 6 February, 2008
Reports in the Italian Press suggest that the race to sign Ivorian striking star Didier Drogba is now between Milan and Barcelona.
Drogba has been unsettled at Chelsea since the departure of Coach Jose Mourinho at the end of September.
The 29-year-old marksman has stressed that he will quit the Blues in the summer, prompting a clamour for his signature.
Initial reports in France Football suggested that Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter and Milan all had a chance of luring Drogba, but it seems the field has now been reduced to two.
“Next summer I will leave London and my future is Barcelona or Milan,” Drogba allegedly told teammates at the Ivory Coast’s African Nations Cup camp.
It is suspected that the crucial factor may be the future of former boss Mourinho, given the close relationship between the two men.
The Portuguese tactician has been strongly linked with the Barcelona bench this summer as Frank Rijkaard struggles to deliver, but there are also whispers that Mourinho could replace Carlo Ancelotti at San Siro.
One advantage that Barcelona have is Samuel Eto’o. Drogba is known to be an admirer of the prolific Cameroon star and has reportedly stated his desire to play alongside him at some stage in his career.
Reported on Channel4 and Goal.

Drogba would be a great addition to the side considering Ronaldo injury issues. I would still like to see Benzema but i feel that a partnership of Pato and Benzema is very risky considering their age and experience. Drogba would be an instant hit at Milan and could be that target man that Milan have been looking for. I would be interested to see how much Chelsea want to Drogba.

We could go for a guy like Eto'o, Aguero or Ibrahimovic, but I don't think their perspective teams would want to sell the player, especially at the price we'd be willing to offer. Believe me, if Drogba does end up signing with us (that'd be a miracle), he would not cost 30 million.
I think Gilberto Silva's unrest at Arsenal could be taken advantage of. He's far superior to both Emerson & Brocchi and he has the added bonus of being able to play as an emergency cb. I know it won't happen, as we have this fascination of keeping sub-par players, but i'd get rid of both Emerson & Brocchi and bring in the Brazilian captain.
In terms of keepers, i think Shay Given could be another good move. He's one of the most consistent keepers you'll ever see and he's easily as good as Frey, should be cheaper too.
Jim, great thoughts. I have something similar that has been floating around in my head as I hear Gilberto being unsettled, he'd probably come here and feel like he is reborn. What's his age?
Also, Given continually impresses me. When I watch Newcastle, I can only think of how much worse it could be without Given. Much like Casillas when Madrid has been spotty, he has probably saved them tens of points over the last few years as their defense has crumbled. Will he make a move to Italy? Doubt it, but I think he is someone who could be one of those sneaky buys. Never heard him voice anything about leaving, yet I don't follow Newcastle so I wouldn't know.
Also, has the talk of wanting Huntelaar to come here died down? I watched him on the weekend against Feyenoord, he scored but he looks really slow. He was outpaced a few times, but he is also a strong, big guy, so he can probably offset the pace issues with his control and holding skills.

Milan don't need another old expensive striker. I am certain the next striker we will go for will be a mature second-striker in the age of 25-27. I wouldn't mind going for Benzema if their aim was to spend the cash, but I certainly wouldn't take Borriello or Oliveira back. I'd rather we take Cassano in all honesty. Giuseppe Rossi can also be nice, he plays so much like Pato too.

There would be a tactical reason to go with Drogba. His power can tear apart teams in Serie A games. We need someone with his characteristics.
Weah was signed at 29 y o and still was able to produce a few seasons of pure magic. Are we discussing over a player like Drogba ?
Agreed. A player like Drogba would be needed for the big games, whereas someone like Benezma would require more time to affect such matches imo.

The defender or the attacker?
If its the attacker, I really wonder why Inter wants to sign him. They have an army of forwards and it will increase with Balotelli and Adriano next year. Seems like the dumbest move ever.
Does Suazo actually even play for our neighbours?(I'm sorry but I don't watch their matches :mute: )
I don't think shay given will ever move from newcatle, he spent almost his entire career there. What happened to Hugo Lloris or Ochoa? Aren't they being scouted too?
As for the striker, combination of Kaka - Drogba - Pato will be veeery interesting... if we just can we swap drogba and gila...
And for defense, why don't we get Micah Richards, they say he's a wonderkid in EPL...
Btw, is zambrotta already 100% will move to us?

i don't think so.Milan is the team which is always put the loyalty above everything.with Drogba's standard i don't think he will suits to us.everytimes he doesn't like one thing in his club he starts bitching.Chelsea was the last who suffered it :) but as a player he is really great.good skills, great dribbling, and all u need as a forward :D besides.. i think he won't be sell by Chelski with cheap prize.. but i won't mind if he joins us as long as Berlu don't have to spend all the budget for only him in summer ;)

Remeber thats the english media bigging him up and hyping him up, and how over hype do they make things!
Richards is tall, strong and quick, but his positional sense is poor. I'd like to get Zapata & Kompany signed during summer for defence with Zambro. Both can play in defence, but Kompany can also excel as a def mid too.
Well Richards has just signed a five and a half years contract with City...and it appears the he loves the club...I like him...but just can't see him at Milan and then would go for Zapata :)

The major signings will be Zambrotta and a first striker, possibly Drogba. Don't expect many other major signings. Drogba alone would require an investiment of 80-100 millions (considering wage and tag price). Maybe Borriello or Pozzi will be called back t complete the attack. Maybe we'll sign a keeper on the very cheap side, surely not Frey, who costs 20 m (which is absolutely foolish compared to his skills ). Maybe a CB, surely not over the 10 m.

If we sign those major players like Zambrotta and Drogba/Benzema, plus two young but valuable players like Cigarini and Barzagli/Zapata that would be an excellent mercato.
Aldough I think Milan will have a new GK next year and it will be Frey, Gila will go to Firenza.
So, with those 5 we have super team. Dont forget that at least 5 players will for sure leave Milan.
-----------------------------------------
Noiw a tachnical question: Dont you guys think we lack another fast midfielder now when we know Kaka' has problems? Yoan cant take that role of a fast AM.
dont forget what Boban said: If Maldini gets a role in the club, young players will arrive, that is the plan of Paolo and Piersilvio Bewrlusconi for the future.
I think Drogba might be available for around the £20 million mark, i don't think he'd be alot more than that.
I've always said we need more players with genuine pace in the team, so when i read about Inter wanting Quaresma it seems odd that we don't go for him. He would be ideal to play along side Kaka in a 4-3-2-1 formation, i think he could play further forward alongside a striker and he could also be a terrific super sub. Given all our Brazilians, the links with Rui Costa and a reported price tag of around £11 million (I know it can't be right, but what if it was?), it's too much of a bargain to miss out on.
definately someone the club should think about.

If GILA doesnt leave that will mean that he has convinced Carlo that his trustworthy. in this case its true we dont need an expensive Forward.
But if Gila fails yet again, than I think we will go for a great/expensive striker, taking in consideration Pippo`s and Ronaldo`s fitness.
Benzema is the right choice IMO, however the team can go for an experienced one, cuz already we have Pato, Pozzi, Paloschi and maybe even Boriello.

How about lavezzi from napoli.this guy is fast and strong, can play second striker and wing mid both, definitely will expand our attack arsenal.and give kaka or seedorf some rotation.
Most important,he won't cost us over 10Mil.I think he is quaresma quality already, remind me a bit combination of tevez and quaresma.

All we need him to do is to play. As long as he can do that, he can be whatever he wants to be. Players don't have to love each other to be effective on the field.

Lavezzi has been consistently productive last couple of seasons at argentine league, that's why napoli picked him for around 6Mil last summer. If he continue this kind of performance next year, He will worth over 20Mil next next summer.
On the other hand, I'd prefer benzema if we have only one buying at summermarket because of budget concern.
Drogba? Great, powerful player, but what an irony. If 2 years ago someone asked you to swap Drogba with Shevchenko, we Milan fans would be laughing, or at the very least suggest Drogba plus 50M or something...and now who knows? It might actually happen. But if he does come, he'd take over the first striker role quite comfortably with Gila and Pippo rotating, the we'd have Pato and R99 for the second striker role. BUt I guess that would be goodbye to Ronaldinho, and it would be interesting what tantrums Seedorf will throw if he needs to play out of position or sit on the bench.

Well mate, the case is different. 2 years ago Sheva was still 28-29 years old and still on his top performance and Drogba was not yet a player like he is today. I wouldn't swap Sheva for Drogba 2 years ago. You compare the situations after seeing how Sheva plays (sheva's condition) and Drogba plays today. The situations in the past (2 years ago) and today are completely different.
Since Bierhof AC Milan didn't have centerforward who scores headers.
Drogba is exxellent in this area, plus he is strong and posses foobal quality
it would be nice to have him in the squad especially now when AC Milan have two young forwards
As for Ronaldo, he never showed his greatness playing for AC. Probably he won't stay next year.
In the midfield AC Milan should go for Flamini
And we must find couple defenders (this is the most sensitive area at the moment with lots of old defenders)
I think what we need the most is wingback. I go for Zambrotta because of his ability to play on both flanks and his Serie A experience.
In the mid, an OK CM with creativity and good passing skill is required if Gourcuff leave us.
If we need players at other positions, they must be stars since the men we have are from OK to world class ones.
So, Zambrotta, one CD like Barzaglli, Zapata and Gourcuff stay is OK.
I think, before you tell your your wishes for new players, we should list those, that will leave us definitely (due to retirement and so on) and probably in summer. We have a lot of players to substitute!

How are you going to score headers when the team play with the ball on the ground? Gila can actually head pretty well and he has scored a few headers. Milan doesn't put in enough crosses to justify having someone like bierhoff who frankly is useless with ball at his feets.

I say we get Diego from Werder or Van der Vaart... we don't need any strikers... we need other goal scoring options from mid field... as much as i hate the site of Gila on the field i would keep him than buy a next forward... we need another mobile skillful midfielder who can run flat out for 90 mins and take on defenses alonside Kaka...

Serie A is very different with Argentina's league. He's been doing good this year, btu the second year is much more harder since the pressure is mounting and the defenders have learnt about your style.
Btw, I agree with your opinion about Benzema
I don't want to start any rumors about this, as I am yet to see Aquilani linked with Milan........but reading from Spalleti that he wouldn't block a transfer and at the same time Aquilani seems to be open to different challenges........I really woudn't mind buying the great young Italian talent. He would be of great use for us.
I would definately like the manegment to mix their firngers in this one as he seems to be seeking a new deal and Roma won't offer him much while at the same time it looks like with a decent offer we can take him.
How are you going to score headers when the team play with the ball on the ground? Gila can actually head pretty well and he has scored a few headers. Milan doesn't put in enough crosses to justify having someone like bierhoff who frankly is useless with ball at his feets. AC Milan have problem in the opening of defences. Smaller teams usually play strong defence against us and we are witness that our style of play have difficulties with this.
That's why we need quality fullbacks, like Zambrotta, which will provide croses.
And if we don't have players with effective head :-) we are stuck with nil-nil most of the time.
On the other hand I dont' have problems with playing on the ground. Maybe we are the best team in the world in play on the ground but this kind of play is suited for games with opponents that want to play football, that want to score goals.
We must introduce changes in the games, changes in the pace, to adapt to any opponent. And the croses and headers is one way of doing this.

For God's sakes, this guy just doesn't know when to quit! He plays like 5 good games a season as it is, one more year of aging isn't going to make it any better! How bad does he have to play for him to call it quit? God, I hope management open their eyes and let him go after the season, but knowing them, they will extend him and eliminate one more transfer target with a smile on their face. And then we will hear the same crap about how we are perfect and don't need new players.
Vargas' price has risen dramatically to a minimum of £7 million, even if we were linked with 1 of the hottest defensive prospects in the league, i don't see us paying that much for him. Which is a shame as he'd be a better left-back than any of our current choices.
I'll still hold on to my dream of a Vargas-Zapata-Nesta-Zambrotta back line for next season though :hopefull:

I know you don't want to hear this Jim, but the pound is going down and £7 is now equal to only 9 million euros :D
That's not too much. Actually it's less than what you payed for Oddo (7.75m eur+Foggia). If you include a player in the deal it will be ok price at the end.
But i also don't see you buying him unless Ancelotti leaves Milan. If Milan buy's Zambrotta which is more or less certainity, i doubt Ancelotti will decide to replace both full-backs.
Tony I don't really watch Juventus that often, could you tell me whats the deal with Palladino?
Good player? I know we tried signing him a few times but he turned us down.
Tony I don't really watch Juventus that often, could you tell me whats the deal with Palladino?
Good player? I know we tried signing him a few times but he turned us down.
He's played out of position all the time. He's a striker that is being played as a left winger or right winger.
Ranieri had too many problems with the injuries of Camoranesi and Marchionni and since the attackers were scoring goals like crazy Palladino's only chance to play was to cover the wings.
He had some great matches (that's why Donadoni keeps calling him for the NT) but some very disappointing ones. Donadoni rates him much higher than Ranieri does. Against Portugal last Wednesday Palladino was even in the starting line-up for the Italian national team.
The only thing that's clear is that he's among the 3 most technical players in serie A. Great dribbler and huge potential.
As for the rest i can't tell you much because he didn't play a single match in his original position (support striker).
Last year he's been playing amazing in serie B, but with Ranieri's arival he's doing much worse.
This story may be similar to Henry's story. Henry was another one who was playing as a winger in Juve and became huge in Arsenal.

Oh my god, it would be the best for him and for us to retire as fast as he can.
thanks Tony there is a lot of talk about him over here and with Gilberto leaving at the end of the season I think he'll most likely go to juventus. I've read in a lot of articles that Wenger is a keen admirer of Palladino and tried singing him many times but was unsuccessful, hopefully this time he can accept the offer.
I think there is a chance that you might end up getting Flamini too.
You're right Tony, we won't replace both full-backs, even though there's enough of an argument to say that we should.
Now we're being linked to Ferarri, someone who's not good enough to get into Roma's team, so why we should want him is beyond me. He was good once, but that time has gone and we don't need yet another player who needs to rediscover his form.

Come to think of it, Maldini, serginho, cafu are going to be gone. Simic is always talking about leaving. I am sure we can do with more options in defence. I expect to see at least 3-4 defenders/full backs. We should get 2 full-back, 2 CB to be safe. I don't mind seeing Ferrari replace Simic if he can keep his mouth shut. :grinser:

If Drogba comes, Gilardino or Ronaldo would go.
If Drogba comes, Gilardino or Ronaldo would go.
I know that Ronaldo used to be the best player in the world, but at the moment he is more of a liability for the team. He cannot be counted on, his form is unpredictable. The chance of him helping out in the big games is slim.
Drogba for Ronaldo? Sure! Why not?

After Sissoko's arival i'm ready to bet my right hand that Gilberto Silva will not join Juventus. Zanetti is Juve's most consistent player this year and most highly rated, Sissoko and Nocerino are very young but solid enough. No place for another DM in the team, especially not someone who'll be getting high wages.
Palladino will indeed be a good choice for Arsenal but his transfer will depend on many things and his potential participation at the EURO and his performances there will be a big factor in Juve's decission to sell or not to sell. His performances in serie A till the end of the season will also play a big role in Juve's decission.
And finally, it will depend on wether Ranieri will stay at Juve's bench or someone else will replace him.
Oh, and lets not forget the offer Arsenal will make. The kid won't be cheap at all :)

Project 2010: the new AC Milan
12.02.2008, 08:30
AC Milan are thinking about the future and preparing a project for 2010. Here is the possible list of players for that year: Lloris (Diego Alves); Bonera (Marzoratti), Nesta (Darmian), Kaladze (Albertazzi), Zambrotta (Antonelli), Gattuso (Ambrosini), Pirlo (Sammarco), Seedorf (Gourcuff); Kakà (Di Gennaro); Pato (Borriello), Paloschi (wells).
For next season, the decision on Ronaldo's renewal will affect other choices.
In addition to Drogba and Benzema, the “Rossoneri” are thinking of Borriello and Pozzi.
Gilardino, if he wants, could leave next season.

Gattuso (Ambrosini)

What part of that team is new? It's virtually the same starting lineup they have right now with a couple of players from their youth squad as backups. If that is the actual plan (which I have to say it suits the management's style), we will be lucky if we get in UEFA cup every year by 2010. And can somebody tell me who Wells is? Never heard of him before.
The idea calling back Borriello is a good one. I've just seached some video of him at Youtube, and I cant believe that's him: can shoot with both feet, left foot particular strong, powerful header, cool penalty taker (the penalties were gained by him), caused trouble for even Zapata and Barzagli.
I think he is ready to come back. His form and the Azzura call could give him the confidence. He came from Milanello and his love for AC Milan is questionless.
"Wells" is Pozzi. It's just how it translates. That team wouldn't be good enough. Bonera doesn't attack well, and I don't think Paloschi & Pato would be a 1st choice attack. We'd need to add some more WC players. Most of the subs would be ok though IMO.

I am not very intrested in calling back Boriello, he is miles behined Gila IMO, I think if we are going to sign a new striker then Drogba, Benzema and Amauri will be our possible targets with a slight advantage for Amauri over both Drogba and Benzema for financial reasons as both Drogba and Benzema will cost 30+ M.
Our back line also needs reinforcements, and if it was up to me I would sign: Zambrotta for the LB position as he is Italian so won't take time to adapt to Seria A and his abilities which make hi the best fullback in the world in my opinion.
Alves for the RB, the guy is young, fast, Brazilian, can play as a RM if needed, good free kick taker and proven in higher levels he has to work on his defensive skills though.
Any one of Zapata/Kompany or Barzgli to be our only new CB plus giving more play time to (#5) in the youth team, I am not sure if he is Darmian or somebody else.
A new GK however I must say that I don't know whom should we go for.
A new young Midfielder probably Montilivo and we are done.
But, to make it clear our management would never do this :wallbang: , they will only sign one or two new players maximum so I am not going to dream that they will suddenly decide to spend like crazy so I hope they really now what they are doing.
AC Milan is among the leaders in the world in spending on sponsoring young players and trainers. So the talks about 2010 plan or 2011 or something else is normal staff. Not ultimate strategy.
If you analyze transfer policy you will see that we are buying experienced players. With few fantastic exceptions :-)
On the other hand, to gain experience we loan youngsters.
Signing Ferrari follow the politics of implementing experienced players. He is 28 but with lot of experience. Probably management think that with different training he can enter our team. And I am on the same line.
Returning of Boriello is expected, his form is going up, he scored so far 8 goals (same as Mutu and Amauri, more than Ibrahimovic - in the liga, not counting penalties).
But there is but :-)
Maximum number of forwards is four in our team. Pato is one of them, for sure. Nobody talks about Inzaghi, so he is in, too. If Paloschi continues his run of form, he is in.
To find place Ronaldo and Gila should go. Ronaldo will retire or go back to Brasil. Gila will ask for transfer on his own because it's the right thing for him in the moment. The empty place will be filled with experienced player - by default, and probably it would be Drogba. So another year for Boriello on loan. Until Inzaghi retires :-)
Lets call a spade a spade here, Ferrari has been awful for a few seasons now. He was average at best the season before he went to Everton, disappointing at Everton and now can't get in the Roma side. Maybe someone can tell me why we should get him?
Regarding Boriello, has he really improved? Anyone can look good on YouTube, even me!
It must be an exciting time to be a Juve supporter Tony, especially if you sign Hamsik, Aguero, Vargas & Amauri (according to the less than reliable Tuttosport)! I know it's papertalk, but i wouldn't be surprised to see you sign all 4 of them. It's sickening to see your team with so much ambition! :D

Regarding Boriello, has he really improved?
I don't follow all Seria A games, but from what I have seen the answer is no he did not at all, and like what you said any one can impres on you tupe as it just pick the right moves and kick the wrong ones, he is average and will always be so, theone that really impresses at the moment is Cassano he was immense in the last few games.
AC Milan's Gourcuff eyeing France return
tribalfootball.com - February 13, 2008
Yoann Gourcuff is unsettled at AC Milan.
It's emerged that Gourcuff has discussed leaving Milan with club officials in recent days.
Milan haven't responded to the speculation, which has PSG and AS Monaco angling for talks over taking Gourcuff back to France in the summer.
It's sickening to see your team with so much ambition! :D
And it's even more sickening watching the amateurs in Juve's board talking about the potential transfers of Diego, van der Vaart, Hamsik and buy Stendardo and Sissoko at the end.
They always buy the plan C or plan D player. They never manage to get the first option player, not even option B.
Returning of Boriello is expected, his form is going up, he scored so far 8 goals (same as Mutu and Amauri, more than Ibrahimovic - in the liga, not counting penalties).
He will not return to our team to play but will be sold. The more goals he score mean the more money we can get for him. That's all.
Lets call a spade a spade here, Ferrari has been awful for a few seasons now. He was average at best the season before he went to Everton, disappointing at Everton and now can't get in the Roma side. Maybe someone can tell me why we should get him?

Ferrari is free, he is good for 4th DC, he and Bonera formed a good DC pair for Parma (only lost to Maldini&Nesta and Thuram&Canna). They can unite again.
Borriello has the ability but he failed to expose. If Ronaldo retire, Pippo has the habit of being injured and ineffective in Serie A, he could be a good choice. We need player can sit on the bench and eagerly waiting for his chance to come. I value his will to play for Milan.
Both Ferrari and Boriello can not satisfy our transfer strategy :D However, we are not Real or Chelsea. Maybe Borriello or no striker at all, Ferrari or waiting for Digao and Darmian (take a risk), and save the money for a really good one (GK, other fullback than Zambrotta, a good CM).
Actually :firedev:
I like Zapata or Barzagli for DC.
Zambrotta and another fullback. Alves is too expensive. Zarcardo or Vargas can do the job.
For Striker, though Benzema is young and has a great talent, I do not like his character. He want to leave his club so early (A CL and French champion club), is he an ambitious one or just greedy and almost no loyalty at all?
Amauri has the abilities we need, so does Drogba. But I like the Ivory Coast origin more, because of his desire to play for Milan (or Barca, is OK). Amauri look like a mercenary.
We have 5 best midfielders (except wingers) in the world: Kaka, Seedorf, Pirlo, Gattuso, Ambrosini. What we need is only a good sub. Hamsik, maybe.
Frey seem to be our bets choice for GK, but I think we shouldn't make him a definitely move.
So, next season, at least:
Zambrotta (a must), Ferrari, Gourcuff stay, Ronaldo get fit and stay or Borriello.
Better: pouring money on Frey or other fullback.
Best:
Zambrotta and Vagas/Zarcardo, Barzagli/Zapata, Hamsik, Drogba, Frey. :firedev:
(trying to be humble :dcool: )
I don't think drogba has anything to do with that list
instead of spending a tone of money for him and watch him running like a mad cow for 90 min better promote Paloschi
I don't think drogba has anything to do with that list
instead of spending a tone of money for him and watch him running like a mad cow for 90 min better promote Paloschi
I know, but Drogba is not just a mad cow :D And I donn't think our Gallani will spend much money for him (maybe only for about 10M). However, we'll really need him if Ronie&Pippo continue like this. Paloschi needs time.
For the moment we have Pato, Gila, Paloschi, Pippo(always ready when we need him) and Ronaldo(this is probably his last season with Milan)
and another 3 or 4 strikers loaned to other teams
We need a striker(a good one - Ronaldinho/Eto/Benzema) but not Drogba (i red that chelsea wants 30 mil for him)
But Ronaldinho/Eto/Benzema cost even more than Drogba. I chose Drogba because he is the easiest to get. Ronal cost a lot and I wonder his contribute for Milan (If he come). Eto is too hard to get and he seem to be injury-prone. Benzema is young and it is abit early to judge, we have two young prodigy now: Pa&Pa, so a player with experience is preferable. Drogba is now at his best, he can be our new Weah.
But lets wait for the end of this season to see. Maybe we'll find a better solution :D
I would definitely go for Ronaldinho, I don't like him all that much and he would come expensive, however I am confident that he would be very helpful.
I would consider Drogba, but not the other ones.
If we could a get Sergio Ramos though, I would call it a successful summer transfer season :)

well with ronaldo now done...i would hope milan make a seriuos offer for benzema before Man U or Real do..i have a feeling gila will leave no matter how much the bald guy says about having faith in him...benzema will be an amazing and useful purchase..he traditionly plays a CF with Ben Harfa on the left wing and juninho on the right wing...that could easily work in our with seedorf and kaka behind him or him and pato up front with kaka behind them...some facts about him..16 goals in 24 matches..3rd on the list for assists behind juninho and ben harfa..and 3rd for most minutes played (not an injury prone) ..drobga would also be a good choice he plays similarly like benzema in the middle with the support of maluda on the left and cole on the right but we should be looking ahead for the future and use this summer as a rebuilding proccess

After waking up this morning, the first thing I read is Galliani saying "Ronaldo will be back". A tendon tear needs AT LEAST 9 months to recover which would go past Ronaldo's current contract. Please tell me that I read this wrong in the Gazzetta and they aren't thinking about renewing?!?!?! BTW, I saw Gila in the starting lineup when watching the game, but didn't see him during the whole 90 minutes, was it a misprint?? He's just plain horrible.
Our defense is just painful to watch. The Livorno goal last night was admittedly an amazing shot by Pulzetti, but it should have never happened in the first place. He was given a clear 8 or 9 meters cushion for the shot. The team is very hard to watch and the fans that I feel sorry for are the ones that bought all those season tickets. We read over and over again on the official site on how we had record season ticket purchases. Meanwhile, our management couldn't invest in a team like our competitors did... We bought Emerson and Ba for the whole season and Pato for a half. I just don't know what else to say...

Please no Ramos or Dinho,as Ramos is not a truly side back,as long as he lacks enough pace and tecnique to play at there,he cant play at Milan on side backs,Milan should look at Pasqual and Zambrotta, not it seems Zambrotta is a deal done and in addition Pasqual is a player that his contract ends in 2009,if we pay the wages that he earn a year to Fiorentina he is ours,Oddo/Zambrotta for Right side back and Pasqual and Marek for left side back would be perfect for me,Zambrotta alone is not enough to solve problems that we had on side backs considering the injuries that he had in the last 2 years.
Regarding Goucuff replacement,i think it should be Kim Kallstroem not someone like Flamini as we have too much DM in the squad.
Regarding striker,it seems Milan will sign a striker especially after Ronaldo's carrer ended at Milan,Amauri,Drogba or Benzema,we already have Paloschi and Pato and Pato is a first 11 player who plays with regularity, for one spot,we have Pippo,Gila and Paloschi,Spending over 40 m euros on Benzema would be right thing?it ends Paloschi's first 11 chances?if we sell Gila, sure Benzema is needed,Paloschi is a player who is already better player than Gilardino in my opinion,i hope CARLO continue to play him.
whoever comes,Drogba,Amauri,Benzema,Paloschi should have his chances for first 11,please no to Borriello or Pozzi.both are not Milan class, most probably Zamparini kid will ask for fortunes for Amauri as he declared he costs as much as Torres costs,40 me euros around, signing Amauri at this condition would not be crap? There is Luis Fabiano,a bierhoff typee player also a player who can accept bench role.
in the end,Lloris,Zambrotta,Ferrari,Pasqual,Kalstroem,Benzema/L.Fabiano/Drogba/Amauri for Ronnie replacement.
Ramos doesn't lack pace or technique. Considering our past transfer campaigns he won't sign anyway. Get Vargas De Silvestri & Zambro for WB. Lloris & Frey in goal. Zapata & Kompany in CD. Cignarini & a proper def mid. Another creative attacker & wide player. A WC forward, and international class forward, and either Borreillo/Pozzi.
If the likes of Cafu/Favalli, Serginho, Dida, R99, Gilardino are still at club next season we'll be fighting relegation. It's that simple.

in real's formation 4-1-2-1-2 formation,he has a player infornt of him who plays on the right wing but in Milan's 4-3-1-2 formation he will be the only player who will use the right wing,he will work like a dead man on that 90-105 metres,i wanted to say he is not someone not that calibre,is he someone who can dribble past 2-3 players and send a great cross to players in the box?and he should repeat this 3-4 times or more in a 90 minute,he might have a bit pace and tecnique,to do this work he needs more than that in my opinion.also he costs more than Daniel Alves,i would rather to have a daniel alves than 100 Ramos.
Look at the players we have on right mid. You say no to Ramos, but are happy with them?? We don't need him to dribble like mad as Oddo isn't capable of that, and Ramos is a decent dribbler. He plays with heart and no little technique. Would be immense signing IMO. Suppose we are stuck with Ferrari for defence as reported. gayliani strikes again. We are loosing our legend and replacing him with hacks, and expect success????
Hearing a lot of talk about Torres to Milan.
Won't happen, and not necessary. We need a beast of a forward, as we have perfect 2nd striker in Pato & box forwards in Paloschi/Gila, possibly Pozzi/Borreillo.

We need a forward like Toni or Drogba, one that will command respect of defenders and open space for others.
Simply we need few world class palyers like Benzema, Diego, Zabbrotta, Fery and Mexes... for example. Milan is a club that CAn afford and HAS to afford 5 class players after 2 or 3 bad mercato's. 100 mln in the summer is a sum Milan can spend, for sure! For example, those palyers I listed are possible to get, and imagine Milan does what Real or United did this summer, and with the players we have now ( Pato, Pippo, Kaka', Pirlo, Ambro, Seedorf - who would then play less minutes ut this is a time he needs to play less in order to play well, Rino, NMesta, Kaladze, Jankulovski )!!! We would be unstopabble!
If we dont do that , and nly sign lets say: Zambrotta and Drogba, that would be ok, but not good enough, we would still have a lot of problems with speed etc...

It's newspaper talk again. There may be some validity to it but here's how papers in Europe work. They basically do their best in putting two and two together. Team in need of defense = Milan. Defender not reaching contract agreement with current club = Ferrari. This causes the headlines of "Ferrari is en route to Milan"

All true, except for Giovinco. After Malesani took over some 2-3 months ago Giovinco is playing regularly. He missed only 1 or 2 matches due to injury.
Juve fans don't complain about not buying youngsters because we have loads of them. We complain at the way the board is doing the transfers and at the way the youngsters are being loaned year after year.
Juve have Palladino & Giovinco, why should they be jealous of Pato or Balotelli?
It's a shame Albertini could not see beyond Torres' form for Atletico. The fact he was their heart & soul and carried the team for many years being so young should have made him realise that without that pressure, he's a fantastic player. He would have been a great asset to our team.

Comparing Pato with someone like Balotelli is very funny, even Paloschi is better than Balotelli kid.
Above all,Balotelli and Pato are very different players, there is no logic in comparing them.
Juve might have Giovinco but Milan has Di Gennaro, inter has Balotelli Milan has Paloschi.
Youngsters needs a bit luck, for instance Paloschi found it and however doesnt missed this chance,Di Gennaro has never got this chance,Balotelli is much hypped player as newspapers give 1 page to his Primavera games even if he scores on penalties, load of praise for him,in the world there is only one player who at Pato's calibre,is Messi of Barcelona.italian press comparing Pato with Balotelli kid just because of their ages :5ok:

Why would it be his fault anyway? He has been followed by many big clubs since he was 17, and his price is really expensive. Perhaps, the management is not willing to take a risk, especially when considering the last player they bought from Atletico (i.e. Jose Mari) was a toal failure. Though I believe someone with sane mind will instantly realize the discrepancy in quality between these 2 players.
The switch Frey - Gila is very likey to happen. Milan doesnt need just one forwardm we will need two. If I were to choose, I would choose Benzema and Cassano, creating forward line with PAto, Cassano, Benzema and Pippo which can variate a lot. This is just one of the possibilities.
Buyiong just Droigba would be as dangerous as he played this year with Rooni. Pippo will be 35, Gila is not up to Milan task, Pato is 18 and Drogba had 2 severe injuries in last 2 seasons and is 30. This is too risky.
Cassano is an italian player that will not be expensive. This year he looks matured and there are no doubts of his quality, in my oppinion. Also, he is a player that can be used in rotation sistem at Milan, playing as a pure striker and as a second forward, same as Pato. About Benzema there is no need to talk, he is 19 and palys like he is 29. If we have ANY chance to sign him, we simply must. Also, I expect Ronaldo to stay with Milan and Berlusconi to offer him a new deal.
Diego is another player that will be a super player, he is only 22 and to me he looks like Rui Costa with Fiorentina. Seedorf cannot play 50 matches a year naymore, it can be seen this season. And next year things will get worse, its obvious.
Cigarini - kind of player milan needs to go for. Parma and Milan are close clubs, the deal can be done as always.
Zambrotta - no words here.
CB - to C. Maldini to choose...
---------------------------------------------
I know this sounds excessive, but next year we will have even more problems with inuries then this year. Emerson, Cafu, Brocchi, Gourcuff ( simply failed )Serginho, Favalli, Maldini, Dida, Gilardino, Pippo, Seedorf are not players Milan can count of on the long runs anymore. And this is not one or two players as you can see. Milan needs this, and if we dont do it, we will be in trouble again, catching 3rd or 4th place. for sure.
This is the list of players worthiy of Milan: frey, kalac, oddo, bonera, zambrotta, jankulovski, nesta, kaladze, CB, darmiani, ambrosini, gattuso, cigarini, pirlo, seedorf, diego, kaka', pato, benzema, cassano, inzaghi.

No mate, look at what Balotelli did at Viareggio youth tournament (which is one of the best in the world). He won the tournament alone, hitting countless crossbars and posts, scoring for fun and making one goal on bycicle kick and another one which was barely saved by the keeper. The guy is really a stunning promise. We have to be honest about him.
I still think Pato is and will be superior, but Balotelli will be a champion.

On another note, nobody talks about Alberto Aquilani, who is eager to earn more. It seems he's having contractual discussions in Rome, and the chance he may leave is far from unrealistic.

Look at last youth cup,Pierre Aubameyang was on the flashes but now where is Pierre?
by the way,i see Paloschi already better player than Gilardino :noevil2:
Balotelli might be very talented but comparing with him to Pato is really funny,i can accept the comprament between Paloschi and Balotelli,Pato is the only player who is at Messi's calibre.

oh Aquilani, great kid,who can play 2 part of the game, continuity, workrate, tecnique, dribbling, shooting,he has it all ,
Berlu said we won't go for Aquilani as he's a Roma symbol, and we'll only attempt if they put him up for sale. No wonder we suck in Serie A. We are run by a chicken.
Berlu said we won't go for Aquilani as he's a Roma symbol, and we'll only attempt if they put him up for sale
If Berlusconi really did say that, then by that time it'll be too late to buy him as someone else (i.e. Inter) will have already signed him.
I also read that they maybe close to signing Diarra from Madrid for just £9 million??!! That's ridiculous! If that is true then why on earth aren't we buying him? He was a monster against us in the CL and he's easily better than Brocchi & Emerson and probably Ambrosini too when he's in top form. Seems strange to not show any interest in a player of his calibre.
I mentioned him in this thread a few days ago when I first read that Spalleti won't stand in his way if he chose to go. I would love for Milan to sign him, as I think he will be one of the best midfielders in Italy in the future and surely a regular on the Italy squad.
By the way, Tony, when did you read that Berlu said that, was it recently?
Even if he said that, I wouldn't be pessimistic about it Jim. Remember, nobody can talk to Aquilani untill an offer is accepted, which means he needs to become available for that. If Berlu's words mean that, if he chooses to go from Roma we will be in line then I'm happy. Let the others flirt with him, it doesn't bother me at all, as what's important is what you bring to the negotiating table.
If we somehow can sign both Cigarini and Aquilani this summer I will be more then happy as we will rejuvinate our midfield with two of the biggerst rising stars in Italy.
By the way, how much longer do you guys think that Rosina will stay in Torino. It really is only a matter of time untill a big club goes knocking for him. We can really use his pace.

I also read that on channel4. That is why we are Milan and proud to be. We dont try create tensions/problems with other clubs by grabbing their star players (bar Nesta, and he explained why). Berlusconi is anything but a chicken. Maybe the last couple of years he was advised not to spend on the market but characters like Berlusconi are rare in this lifetime.
He was the PM of Italy. That should tell you enough about his courage. We are all pissed off at the managements moves in the market in the last couple of years but really we shouldn't be complaining - we are currently the CL/World champions and are still defending our title. It is one thing to blame the management and it is another thing to be calling Berlusconi a chicken.

Jeff I dont think there is a right or wrong.. but what is DEFINITELY wrong is what most people here wish for: Benzema, Drogba, Van der Vaart, Kompany, Zapata, Buffon etc etc... This will not happen even they are all for free and want to join Milan.. its just impossible.. However the management isn't also right in doing this to this team, its like they are expecting the same starting 11 to put 150% performances every game.. they have to start improving the squad depth..
Good point.

The way I explain the "weird" part,- what pisses off the fans is saturated inconsistency. We win the club world club but often struggle to score against a weak Serie A side...
People are calmer when the team gets a consistent good result, than than the fluctuations of fabulous / crappy results.
I agree with you about squad depth, but there are two things to overcome:
1) quality players are willing to accept that they are not going to be in the starting eleven line-up, and at some other teams they can simply play consistently and repeatedly.
2) The culture of embeddedness and being together as a family. If bringing in quality player but only create dispuate among players.... I don't think that's what the management board will ever allow it to happen.

I agree with hitmann.
It's pretty obvious why many posters get disappointed, as they live out of reality.
How is it possible to sign Drogba, Zambrotta, Benzema, Kompany, Zapata, Cigarini and Aquilani all together ?
Only Drogba would cost 80 millions euro:
- 30 (tag price)
- 6 millions (per year) which are 12 millions with taxes= TOT. 48 m x 4 years
Make a couple of counts and you'll find out we'll sign a player like Drogba and Zambrotta plus a few minor signings (maybe another defender ). Forget Frey for 18 millions. Amelia is much better and he would cost 6-7 millions.
I would sign:
- Drogba
- Zambrotta
- Amelia
+ one cheap defender
- 6 millions (per year) which are 12 millions with taxes= TOT. 48 m x 4 years
I think taxes in Italy are 50% , so it will be 9 x 4 = 36 m year.
You point is still spot on. Only Drogba will cost between 65-70m euro

Parma v Milan: Ghirardi 'Cigarini is the new Pirlo, I dream of Inzaghi'
15.02.2008, 17:05
Parma’s president, Tommaso Ghirardi, said to the Italian daily paper “Il Giorno”: "I contacted Trapattoni, but Di Carlo has my trust. I would like to see Inzaghi closing his career here at Parma, I could give Cigarini to Milan; he is the only possible heir to Pirlo. We are not negotiating with Juve for him, but are interested in the two young players Marchisio and De Ceglie. I didn’t acquire Giuseppe Rossi because he was too expensive. We asked several clubs for help, including Inter, but none of them believed in the guy. Inter did not offer Adriano to us, but if he had come here, he would have done a great championship. "
Berlusconi is a chicken? I have never, EVER, heard such a nonsence!!! Berlusconi...if there is anything that he isnt - its a chicken!
I do understand that talking about more then 3 good palyers sounds harsh and unreal, but Milan does need it. Dont think about the money, players like Zambrotta, Cassano, Cigarini and even Frey will not have Kaka'-like wages. For Milan its ok. If we can pay Simic 2.5 mln a year...
I agree about Cigarini being like Pirlo, but Aquilani is even better player, a player that can easily take former Seedorf position as a central midfielder in 4-3-1-2.

Assuming Drogba wouldn't earn less than 6 millions without taxes, and given that taxes are 50 % and counted on the total sum, you have to write 12 millions in the balance.
12 millions- 50% taxes= 6 millions without taxes.
Total: 48 millions euro x 4 seasons

Why don't we count the taxes for the 6 millions directly ? Because that way it's 6million + 50% and it gives 9m because 50% of 6million is 3 million.
Because if you pay 12m it means that you pay 6 million for his wages and another 6 million (which is +100%) for the taxes.

3) hosni abd rabbo : 23 years old CMF past exp. at strasbourg rc + BEST PLAYER IN CAN 2008+ tough defensively and attacking ( 6-8 mil. euros will sum things up)
4) ahmed fathi : 23 years old CMF+ CB + RB + RM + CDM + CAM past exp. at sheffeild utd. ( lazio officially offered 4 mil. for him )
5) Amr zaki : best attacker in the CAN 2008 23 years old very very very strong and goal scoarer past exp. at lococmotiv moskow ( 6-8 mil. will be fine)

With a fiscal pressure of 50%, the net sum represents the other 50%.
50% + 50% = 100%
Substitute the previous numbers with this:
50% (taxes) + 6 millions (the net sum the player is asking you) = ?
How much is 50% ? If the other 50% is 6 millions, therefore the other 50% should be 6 millions either. The total is 12 millions.
-----------------------------
When a player signs a contract he asks for a net wage . Let's put Drogba would want 6 millions tax free. That means you have to write 12 millions on the balance. In few words, the double of the tax free wage (only if the taxes are 50%).
Your mistake is counting the 50% out of the 6 millions (which is not the total, but the net sum), which gives 9 millions. Your amount of moneys is just the 75% of the total you have to put into the balance. The taxes must be counted on the total, not on the net amount. You start from the net sum, but in a society what matters to finance activities is the total sum necessary, not the net one.
When you have to relate what you spent for Drogba's wage you can't start with the 6 millions (net) but you have to show the sum necessary to have 6 millions net, and given that the fiscal pressure is 50% you have to show 12 millions on the balance.
The only one who cares about the net sum is Drogba. The owners of the society care about the total, on which they have to pay taxes.
GIO, i still don't get it :D you are counting taxes on taxes?

Giovanni
16-02-2008, 14:24
GIO, i still don't get it :D you are counting taxes on taxes?
:D
ok, i will try a last time.
1. The total represents 100% of the sum.
2. 50% of the total go with taxes.
3. You have another 50% which is the net amount of moneys given to the player.
4. Assuming you have to give the player 6 millions free of taxes, you have this:
TOTAL= 50% (net moneys) + 50% (taxes)
5. You know that the net sum you have to give the player is 6 millions. So, you have this:
TOTAL= 6 millions [as the net amount (50%)] + 50% (taxes)
Therefore, if 6 millions net represent the 50%, it's obvious the other 50% is the same amount of moneys.
So,
TOTAL= 6 millions + 6 millions.
6. The TOTAL is 12 millions.
Yeah, i get it but this came as a huge surprise to me.
I never thought that 50% of the total ammount goes for taxes, i thought 50% of the net sum goes for taxes.
This makes the ammounts certain teams pay for wages completely crazy. If Milan pay 120m euro net for wages it means that they pay 240m eur per year only for players wages

It's simple. If Kaka earns 6 million euros net, then he "earns" 12 million euros gross.
So over four years, Milan would shell out 48 million just for Kaka, 24 of which would go to Kaka, and the other 24 to taxes.

This squad is old, and has no future bar Kaka. Our 3 keepers are muck, our defence is ancientm, and bar 3-4 players is crap, our midfield bar Kaka is old, and lacks depth, and our forwards bar Pato are old, or crap like Gilardino. If Belru doesn't spend money like other big clubs do to keep up, then next season will be a relegation battle. We've spent 100 million on players since Carlo is in charge, Barca have spent 300 million with Rijkaard, inert more than us with Mancini. Stop making excuises about Bendiera players, and not wanting to upset other clubs. They hate u anyway, so go out and start pissing off clubs. It's a competitive game, except it seems in our transfer market.
I remember the failings of the late 90's too well. An old squad, not replaced till too late, and we failed big time. We need to get quality & youth in now, or we'll suffer the same again.

tax in England is 17.5% so does that meen they have the advantage over Spain?
If so, yes...
Now I can understand what Giovanni think and this is very logic.
Taxes should go to the amount of money that a club give to a player. If Milan 'give' 9 mil for Drogba, then 50 percent of this 9 mil (= 4,5 mil) will go for taxes, which means : Drogba will earn only 4,5 mil (the other 50%). So, 50% taxes is taken from the amount of money that club spend, not from Drogba's wish. To satisfy Drogba (to make him earn 6 mil), Milan then need 12 million to spend and 50 percent (of 12 mil/from Milan's spend) goes to taxes (= 6 mil).
Sorry, I am just not so fast at math, I have to use more logic at math :D
Kaka1899
17-02-2008, 07:27
So basically we pay over the odds for players to satisfy them, as our taxes give other countrys the advantage over us?

17-02-2008, 07:32
so if we think we are kinda lucky to have Pato i know he didnt ask for mega bucks but he could have quite easily gone to spain and made more money than he is here at Milan.
I do think this year is the year we need to make a bit more of an impact on the transfer market. I support all the decisions the club have made as they have bought us so much success. Everyone makes mistakes occassionally and we have too with certain players. However I think in general we have been good. Only problem now is that we need to start getting some younger players in and get some of the hunger back in the team.
In the summer I would like to see us bring in a new younger keeper.
In defence I would like to bring Marzoratti back, get Zambrotta or De Silvestri and possibly a deal for Dessena, leave him on loan.
In midfield I would like to see us get Cigriani and if Aquilani us up for sale him as well. I know not many of them will play, so it would be good again to keep one of them on loan. Would also be good if we could give Gourcouff more playing time. If he proves he deserves.
Up front I think we need two more strikers. Not sure who at the moment. It would be good if we could get someone like Rossi or Cassano and another.
These transfers certainly wouldn't break the bank, and we must have enough due to the shrewd business of recent years.
I think the signings of Bonera, gourcouff and Pato have pointed us in the right direction.
With Maldini, Serginho, Cafu (possibly), Simic, Brocchi leaving or showing signs of discontent, it gives us a chance to bring in some fresh blood, and hopefully continue the legacy which is AC Milan

If everything is so crappy, how did Juve and Inter manage to have such an active transfer season?
Did they bring players that also being wanted by big spaniard clubs for example?
Yeah, both Inter and Juve didn't bring a star and they were chanceless against the Spaniards and the English.
I mean, who did Juve buy ? Almiron, Tiago, Iaquinta, Nocerino, Molinaro, Criscito, Andrade. Are these attractive players wanted by the other giants in Europe ?
Inter bought players from Italy. Suazo and Chivu and they bought some guys called Rivas and Pele.
If you think about it, Milan were the ones who had better mercato than both Juve and Inter because you bought the most expensive and most talented player, Pato. Only Milan spent +20m euro for a player last summer.
Since i'm active in various forums i noticed that Milan fans complain about poor mercato and use Inter and Juve as examples for good mercato. Juve fans complain about their mercato and say how Milan made a great buy and had great mercato with Pato.
Inter fans probably do smthg similar themselves.
Go figure :)
I refuse to believe that Italian tax system is the source of our problem. Before Calciopolo when Serie A was the most prestigious in the world, Juve and Milan were able to get all the players they wanted and I mean the best players.
I furthermore doubt that Berlusconi lost a penny on this club. With the huge fan base of AC Milan and astronomical revenues buying even two worldclass players each transfer season shouldn't be a problem.
It's an excuse for their failed, or rather not trying attempts to get great players for Milan. They are lying about going for Henry etc. Just a smokescreen so they can penny pinch again, and get some donkey nobody else wants. In spite of their dealings we are competitive in Europe, because of their dealings we are miles from the pace in Italy.
Fiorentina is taking a lead by a goal against Catania right now. :(

INCOME TAX
If you work in the UK, you will have to pay income tax. This tax is collected by the government department known as HM Revenue & Customs (previously known as the Inland Revenue). Tax is paid based on your income during the tax year, which starts on April 6th and ends on April 5th in the following year.
In the 2007/8 tax year (for income earned between April 6th 2007 and April 5th 2008), the income tax bands were as follows:
0% on the first £5,225 (your personal allowance, equivalent to about £100 per week, or £435 per month)
(you will not be entitled to the full allowance if you have not been resident in the UK during the whole tax year)
10% (the lower rate) on the next £2,230 (equivalent to about £42 per week, or £185 per month)
22% (the basic rate) on the next £32,370 (equivalent to about £622 per week, or £2,700 per month)
40% (the higher rate) on any income above this

Let's assume taxes in Spain are 25% and in Italy 50%. In few words, the fiscal pressure is the double.
If Drogna wants to earn 6 millions net either in a club in Spain or in Italy, this means the italian side has to spend 12 millions gross and the spanish side 9 millions. The spanish side saves 3 millions to give Drogba the same net wage.
This is a big problem. I think UE should take care of this problem, imposing a common fiscal pressure for clubs who take part to international sportive competitions.

40% (the higher rate) on any income above this
ah right now i get it
and btw i live in the uk so i knew that about Inland revenue ect :)
Assuming the taxes is 25% in Spain, I think spanish clubs need only to pay 8 mil.
If Drogba wants 6 mil and the tax is 25%, this means 75% from the total wages (gross wages) will go to Drogba. 75% (= 3/4) x total wages = 6 mil, so total wages = 6 x 4/3 = 8 mil. As we've talked before, the amount of money that italian clubs must pay to Drogba = 12 mil.
The difference between the amount of money that the italian clubs and spanish ones have to pay to Drogba = 12 - 8 = 4 mil. CMIIW
4 mil difference is huge advantage for spanish clubs.
EDIT :
no wonder Barca and Madrid could spend so much money to bring players. Last year Barca brought Abidal, Milito, Henry and we dont need to look at Madrid, they are 'crazy'.
I just think about this : a player costs 30 mil euro (market cost) with wages 6 mil nett to this player (just like Drogba for example). NOrmally a club give contract to a player for 4-5 years. Assume a club give only 4 years. Which means, (from our discussion before), a spanish club must spend 32 mil euro (4 x 8) for this player's contract (75% of this money goes to the player = 24 mil), meanwhile an italian club must spend 48 mil euros (4 x 12) with 50% of this 48 mil goes to the player (= 24 mil). The diffrence for the contracts will be 48-32 = 16 mil euros.
So, I think, it's pretty easy for spanish clubs to give, let say, 5 mil euros more than italian clubs can pay for the transfer fee as spanish clubs need to pay less than the italian ones for the contract. If the italian club want to pay 30 mil to buy this player , spanish club can pay pretty easily 35 mil (transfer fee) for the same player.
Just my thought.

How much is the 25% of 12 millions (12/4)? It is 3 millions. Assuming the net wage is 6 millions, the total sum (if the taxes are 25%) is 9 millions.
Once again, taxes should be counted on the total, not starting from the net sum.
If the total 9 mil, the taxes (25%) will be 25% x 9 mil = 2, 25 mil. This means, Drogba will earn 6,75 mil euros nett (9mil - 2,25 mil).
The way of I am thinking is from the nett wage/money. Drogba wants 6 mil (nett wage) and the taxes is 25%. It means, Drogba's nett wage = total money - 25% of total money (= 75% of total money). Assume Drogba's nett wage is A and the total money is B then A = 75% B or 6 mil = 3/4 B. Then B = 4/3 times 6 mil = 8 mil. So the total money will be 8 mil euros.
If total 8 mil, 25 percent of 8 mil = 2 mil (taxes), 75 percent of 8 mil = 6 mil euro (net wages/what Drogba earns).
Ah yeah, I just thought again about club's wages. Assuming Milan have 25 players with average wage is 3 mil euros per year then the wages of all players are 75 million euros. Assuming Barca have the same situation (the average wage and the number of the players). Here I still talk about nett wages (the wages that the players earn).
So, every year Milan need to spend 150 mil euros for all players. 50% of this number goes to taxes (= 75 mil euros), the other 50% goes to players (= 75 mil euros). In the other hand, Barca only need to pay 100 mil euros a year for all their players. 25% of this amount goes to taxes (= 25 mil euro), the rest (75%) goes to players ( = 75 mil euros).
So, Barca spend 50 mil euros less than Milan every year. It means Barca can use 50% for the transfer. 50 mil euros means a world class player. :depress:

IMO it's unfair competition and UE should correct it. Football clubs are not only sportive associations, but also firms which operate in business. The economic rules shoudl apply to football clubs as well.
Firms can't compete unfairly. The same can be said for football clubs.
Go figure :)
haha, Im sure all milan fans are happy about Pato's transfer, but unhappy that Pato was ONLY normal transfer in the...since Sheva left us! :(
We havent bought any players, except for Oddo who is an ok player, but is not a world class palyer like Milan needs and used to have in Cafu. Emerson, Oliveira, Gourcuff (failed) , Amoroso, Favalli, Ronaldo, Vieri...you see the point.
Milan simply needs some players, somewhere around number 5 :) its not that we dont have any money, dont worry about money people, we have plenty trust me.
Berlusconi had a plan and he went into a ciclus with this squad being only filled in by some players now and then. The ciclus begin with Milan bringing Carlo, Nesta, Seedorf, Pirlo, Rui, Inzaghi, Rivaldo...then Cafu, Stam and Crespo...
now we are in the end of these players possibilities on the field, its obvious. Players like Sergio, Favalli, Maldini, Cafu, Brocchi, Dida, Gila ( for some reason ), are not the ones who should be playing for Milan any more. In every game, except for CL nights when we field our strongesl lineup, we have one, two or three players not up to task. Whether its Favalli on the left, Cafu on the right, Brocchi, Gila, injured Pippo, imobile Rooni, unfit Seedorf or horrible Dida. That is too much for a long serie a season.
Squad consists of 22-25 players, from which at least 15-18 need to be top quality. This team needs few great players and we will be back. But if we dont start the new ciclus we wil only go down.
Our midfield has some of the best players on earth in Pirlo, Ambro, Rino, Kaka' and Clarence. But they get exausted, specially Kaka' and Clarence. Its becouse other parts of the team cant take the game on them ( fullbacks, forwards ). We need a great and powerfull player like Toni, Drogba to solve games, we need great fullback, at least one. New GK, and a fast midfielder to rotate and so to use Seedorf in smaller amount of games.
this was supposed to be short but... :)
dreams, you know how it is :grinser:

-alves--nesta-kaladze-zambrotta--
----------pirlo------
----gattuso--ambro---
---------kaka'----
----pato---drogba----
now we can use both Rino and Ambro at the same time, too bad in my dreams Carlo isnt a coach to use them as he likes to :)

The equation is simple.
If Drogba earns 6 million and the tax rate in Spain is 25%, then:
1-.25x = 6 --> x = 8 million euros.
That's how much Real/Barca/Racing Santander would have to pay every year to afford Drogba.
Milan would have to pay
1-.5x =6 --> 12 million euros.
I think this is correct.
Giovanni

No
The equation is
100: 25= 12: x
x= (25*12) : 100=
300: 100 = 3 millions
The 25% (taxes in spain ) is 3 millions.
Therefore the total is 9 millions (6 net + 3 of taxes)
-----------------------------------------
Apart from maths, you can get it with a reasonament. What counts for the financial authorities who eventually control a balance and if the taxes have been paid are the fiscal books and the balance .
In these documents the amount of moneys which is given to a player is the TOTAL. Nobody would care about the net, except the player. Obviously the taxes must be paid on the total, figuring inside the fiscal books. You keep counting taxes on the net, which is nonsense

Absolutely. Let's reason through it.
The question is simply HOW MUCH WOULD A CLUB IN SPAIN HAVE TO PAY THE GOVERNMENT (GROSS)?
The way I am doing it is as follows: for Drogba to earn 6 million in Spain, Real (or whoever) would have to pay 8 million euros. Why? Because 25% of 8 is 2 million (8-2 = 6).
This isn't a question of taking the net. The question is simply "For Drogba to earn 6 million in Spain, how much would a club have to pay (gross)?"
The answer is 8 million.
Where does 12 come from in your equation? I am intrigued. I may be wrong, Gio, but I cannot follow your reasoning. Why are you taking the 12 as the gross figure? That part is what we're trying to figure out. You keep taking 25% of 12 (the Italian gross??). There are two different income tax rates for two different countries. We are trying to figure out the gross in each country.
Ma perche, amico mio?

I think what you meant was a different type of tax (consumption tax). Gio and others are talking about income Tax.

Yep. That's what I thought.
Hmm...I read that footballers pay 40-43% tax in England.
It may have been an incorrect article, but many in the Prem were complaining about Spain's advantage.
But why would the total be 12 million in Spain ?
12 million is the total in Italy because 6m net is 50% of the total.
But in Spain 6m is not 50% of the total, it's 75% of the total.
And if 6m is 75% of the 100% then the other 25% = 2m, so the total is 8m euro.

Looool, i rushed to prove Gio wrong so i didn't even see your reply :D
Anyway, the real difference can be seen on the total ammount.
According to Gazzetta Milan pay 120m euro net wages per year (only players)
If 120m euro is 50% of the total then it means that Milan pay 240 million euro only for player's wages.
Now lets say that Real Madrid also pay 120m eur net wages.
But here 120m eur is 75% of the total and the taxes, the other 25% is "only" 40m euro and Real will pay 160m eur per year for player's wages.
The difference is 80 million euro. And this is only for 1 single year.
I guess some of the ones who criticize the board, here and in Juve forums, can see why we're getting beaten by the Spaniards on the mercato. :tong:
We don't know his projected salary yet guys,
we aren't even sure if Galliani tries to buy him or not, so lets save the math for now :D

We can't leave the maths.
Maths is the only way to tell you why is it hard to buy Drogba.
Now please pay attention to this, PLEASE :
Lets just say that Drogba wants 6m per year ( it doesn't matter, it can be 4,5 or7)
If Milan wants to take Drogba they will have to pay 12m euro per year, because of the taxes and for 4 year contract Milan will have to pay 48m euro.
This way Drogba gets his 6 millions.
Real on the other hand, if they offer him 6m euro will have to pay 32m euro for 4 years, because the taxes in Spain are lower.
This way Drogba again gets 6m euro but Real pay 16m less than Milan.
That's why Real can offer him 9m eur per year contract. If Real offer him 9m per year and the taxes are 25% it means that Real will pay 12m euro per year and 48m euro for 4 years.
So, both Milan and Real will pay 48m euro in 4 years but Drogba will be getting 6m euro per year in Milan and 9m euro per year in Real.
Which offer do you think Drogba will accept ?
Why do you think Henry chose Barca over Milan ?
Do you understand ? :guw:
lets just say, for Milan (aka Italian Club), getting star Players (which are mostly expensive) is important, but the price for it is way more hurting than to the English or Spanish clubs.
That's why, Milan, may be, don't like to gamble much on that. Why do I call buying star player gambling ? Just look at the Shva to Chelsea case.
but to remain in status quo, or to buy mediocre player is ridiculous for a club with AC MILAN calibre... Look at Real Madrid, Man Utd, Liverpool, Barcelona, and even Bayern have signed more players than us.
Guys, we ARE the most illustrious club, won the most international trophies than any other club in the world. Signing 2 or 3 super star per season, if necessary, should be done without any problem. And yet, with most of our players are above 30, some even above 35, no world class player actually came. Pato, gourcoff are still in the making.
So with the management have been "saving" money for seasons now and several players are going to retire, I think it's about time to finally start shopping...
FORZA MILAN!!!
of course, there isn't anyone here saying we don't need new players. but the Milan management maybe just being too careful. The 'Math Session' is only to show people here, that Milan (despite of being the World Champion), is still not in a better position to buy, financially. may we fans have better patience and better spirit :)

Totally AGREE !
Next summer will be an exact time to invest our saving with new players.
Some old players gonna be retired, leave us or in injury prone list, so it's not brilliant decision by management to sign some new players for next season

That's right Tony. That's what I tried to tell but I only assumed 75 mill as Milan's spend for wages and you have, as always, real data about Milan's spend for wages.
So, 80 mil is huge advantage if it happens every year.
I know this shouldn't stop Milan buying players but this could be the biggest obstacle for Milan if Milan want to buy a player who is a target of Barca/Madrid.
It might hold true for several players, but to have it stopping us signing even one genuine player we need is a joke. Funny how tax wasn't mentioned when we had a load of money put aside for Ronaldinho.

I think the point of this discussion is to prove that all the moneys for CL and Sheva went out to pay wages. That shouldn't justify the board to sign players to be competitive. But being competitive is every day more difficult, and considering that many clubs who have a better financial situation and double income have won the half of the half of Milan, we can't complain like crybabies every time we don't get the toy we wanted.

I agree. Our expectations are too high sometimes. I think people were also miffed that our marquee striker (Ronaldo) was injury prone, and management didn't adequately address that during the summer. In my opinion, Di Natale would have been very good for us, and he would not have cost a king's ransom.

Tony75......(I think) Tax wasn't an obstacle when we were linked to Ronaldinho because there is a law in Spain that raises the tax% after you have been there for a certain amount of years....I think 3 or 4, not sure. This means that after that number of years a player has been in Spain, they have to pay 50%(or more, I don't know the exact ammount) of their salary because of taxes which meant that Milan had an advantage over Barca because of that.
This is what I read in the papers last summer, can someone comfirm if this is realy the case in Spain?

If I'm not mistaken, the percent of the taxes was around 44-45%, so a Spanish club (who wants Ronaldinho) still would have an advantage over us, but not that big as before those years... :rollani:
So, without all the huge maths, what are you people trying to say: that Milan cant sign big players becouse they are too expencive for Silvio Berlusconi? Come on...
That Berlusconi doesnt want to spend mpney is one thing, becouse he thinks he has a squad that can go for CL again, but to say Milan cant afford Drogba...simply wrong. And its not all about the money. Sheva felt it, not Henry at Barca. If some player doesnt want to play for Milan first 11, but would rather go to Chelsea for money or Barca to rotate, then he is an idiot.

That it's getting close to impossible to buy a certain player if Barcelona, Real or Chelsea are interested in him.
They cant buy all the great players... Berlusconi can pay if he wants, aldough I have to agree, of course, that italian tax sistem is horrible.

We DIDNT want to sign nay players, Galliani lies about Henry as he does all the time. Milan can pay for every single player in the world if Berlusconi wants.
To it turns out like this: We want a striker...we ask Henry to join Milan but he is too expencive...
But the player we can afford we break the deal with... yeah right...
I thought there is a clause about Toni not to join another Italian team (though I maybe wrong?)
So whats the reason we ddnt sign Toni then?
Fiorentina set two different price tag's for Toni. Foreign clubs had to pay 10 million while Italian teams had to pay 20 (or 25) million eur to buy Toni.
I guess Berlusconi thought it's smarter to pay the 20m for the brightest starlet of world's football than on Luca Toni, who even though world class, was 30 years old.
You may ask why not buy both of them ?
I don't know this. Your directors probably thought and hoped that Ronaldo will be ready and you have enough fire power up front with Pato, Ronaldo, Pippo and Gilardino.
Don't get me wrong. I was also amazed to see that Milan didn't buy younger quality midfielders or world class full backs/ centre backs. But there is explaination why certain players, like Henry and Toni for example, weren't bought.

I would have to disagree with this point. If you ask me, the signing of Pato was out of desperation instead of strategy. Remember, our first option for signing a new striker last summer wasn't Henry, Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Drogba, Shevchenko or Pato, it was David Suazo! Had we signed Suazo, Pato's signing would've been abandoned because we only planned on signing one striker. Pato might end up playing for Real Madrid by now and shining while Berlusconi keeps telling us that Suazo is just as good and Pato isn't a good fit for our team. It was only when we missed out on the cheapest available player in Suazo, Berlusconi had to sign somebody to our team or else the fans would turn on him, that's when he decided to finally open up the wallet and signed Pato. Berlusconi had a plan, but it failed because of Inter and we ended up getting Pato. Smartness had nothing to do with it, it was pure luck.
Some of the Italian papers are saying Zampa has told Juve that Amauri will cost them £15 million. If that's the case then i would suggest we go for him instead of Drogba. He'd be cheaper, have less expensive wages and more years in him.
I would also sound out a move for Cassano. Real would want to sell before his price tag plummets to zero and while i'm sure they wouldn't give him away, he'd be cheapish.
In terms of Ronaldo, i don't mind us offering him a new contract but i don't think we should pay him any wages until he's fully fit.
I'm skeptical about Cassano not his ability but his ability to regulate his emotions..
I don't watch Amauri's plays but I have read some news about him. Is he really good? I mean, is he really worth for £15 million?
I just checked his goals with the clubs he's ever played in Italy, his best achievement is only 11 goals per season when he played for Chievo in 2005/06.

why don't then "we" sign "me" :D , I'd be even cheaper, have even less expensive wages and even more years of playing than Amauri? :ilol: if those were the criterias :D

I read somewhere that it's more because Toni doesn't like to find himself playing against Fiorentina that he chose to move abroad. Personally, I'd welcome a quality player like him any day, though considering about long term objectives, I think we should try to get Benzema
I think we should try to get Benzema
Agree.
But I always question: Don't we have any other targets? Is benzema enough? I mean, benzema will be a great addition for us,but he won't be a solution for our defense. (You know, our defenders are so........ (cough)..)
Well,IMO we need defender
There's plenty of players in Germany, Italy & France at the right level who jump at the chance to play for Milan, yet we keep filling our squad with rejects who don't add anything but numbers to our squad. We've got a declining great team, but an overloaded below average squad.
Rafinha seemed to have another good game in Europe last night, he would surely be a cheaper alternative to Alves.
I know people will say we don't need so many full-backs, but i really feel that we should be looking at 2 or 3 of these types of players for 2 reasons. The first is that the full-backs we have just aren't consistently good enough and the second is that these types of attacking full-backs can be utilised further up the field in other positions. You know how we love our versatility :D
I would love to see us sign Vargas, Zambrotta and Rafinha. That may seem harsh on Oddo & Jankulovski (particularly as the latter is responsible for gettings us about 6-9 points this season), however these are arguably our most important positions in the side and we need an improvement over what we currently have.
For about £25 million i think we could get those 3 & Zapata and really evolve our defence. You know it makes sense :D

You know, we know, but Berlu & Gayliani don't.
Maybe last season Oddo & Janku were responsible for a few points, but this season??
I quote my dreaming mercato ... lol
From my point of view, the club needs to sell/fire (lol depends of the clubs interested to buy them) or give a staff job to:
Cafu, Serginho, Favalli, Emerson, and unfortunately, Inzaghi (he will be in trouble i think next year) and Ronaldo (i think it is finished, if he comes back, he will be injured again 2-3 matchs later)
Maldini will stop
So they would have to be replaced by a mix of young players and experienced players:
Zaccardo (15M € ?),
Zambrotta (8M € ?) or Pasqual (10M € ?),
Barzagli (20M € ?) or Zapata (same),
Dessena (15M € ?),
Rosina (20M € ?) or Montolivo (same) => we need by the way a player able to replace sometimes Kaka' and able to play well when he replaces Kaka',
Toni (10M €) or letting time to Paloschi to become a good goalscorer, at least until January and then, if he doesn"t improve, buying a good goalscorer in Italia,
A foreign "fuoriclasse" such as Eto'o, Drogba, Villa, Tevez, Rooney, Torres, etc ...
An expensive mercato (90M € + the last player who would be the most expensive) but it would be needed because the team needs some changes and needs to be able to play well even when the best players are not there (for moment, if you put off the team Pirlo and Kaka', there is no team playing anymore).
PS: Milan can do such an expensive mercato like that, we didn't spend money for the 3 last mercatos ...
For Rafinha, it could be ok, but not Vargas, he is too offensive and is bad in defense (a bit like Janku or Serginho or Cafu nowadays).
I don't think that AC Milan will spend crazy amount of money this summer.
As any summer in couple of years :-)
Probably Zambrotta will replace Maldini, and Boriello will come back.
Maybe, if management decide to spend some more money they will trade Boriello with Amauri, as Palermo president suggest he will accept. But in that case young Paloschi wont be promoted as first team player and loaned somewhere as long as Gilardino stays.
My oppinion is that we must find replacement for Pirlo, because he can't play all the games in the season. I would love to see Flamini in the team, for example.
I would love to see some young blood from youth deparments promoted to first team. Maybe there is new MAldini around there :-)
Does anyone knows AC Milan's players loaned accross Italy and their success?
I would appreciate this info. Thanks :-)
Actually, we don't need as many changes as in my "dreaming mercato" lol ...
One in defense (able to replace both Nesta or Kaladze, or best, someone able to play with Nesta, Kaladze being put on the left), one in midfield (to replace Pirlo), one in offensive midfield (to replace Kaka') and one in attack.
In defense, we can take Marzoratti, back to home
In attack, it's true that we can just take one of Boriello (i don't like him), Oliveira (he scores goals in Spain) or Pozzi (not enough mature anyway).
It is 100% free because they are Milan players (are Marzoratti and Pozzi still Milan players ?) ... We just would have to look for the replacements of Kaka' (I'd like to see Diego at Seedorf's place and playing with Kaka') and Pirlo (Montolivo could be a good choice for future).
I would love to see Flamini in the team, for example.
He's a good player in Arsenal, but would he have the required level to play in Milan ?
I'm French but I don't like the French players in Milan for the last few years (Dhorasso was an error, a joke lol, and Gourcuff is good but he seems like there is something missing in his playing style ...).
Tony75, in the first few games of this season didn't Jankulovski score a couple of match winning goals? I'm sure he did, before he got injured anyway.
GeoTav, i don't think Vargas is bad defensively, i think he's solid and very powerful. I'd also question why you'd want to put Kaladze at left-back, he'd be awful there.
Janku this season is:
8 Serie A matches - 0 goal
2 CL matches - 0 goal
He's been injured very early in the season so perhaps he will score some very important goals in the end of the season ...
For Kaladze, I think it's better having him at left-back rather than Janku or Serginho or Favalli because he has good defensive skills. Nevertheless, he's unable to support the offensive players in an offensive phase ... I just think the team would be more balanced.
Hehe, just for fun. Lets imagine a Summer Mercarto without spending any money:
GK: Call back Abbiatti.
CD: Sign Ferrari for free, push Darmian and Digao.
Fullbacks: Call back Grimi and Abate (the "replacement" of Rivaldo as Gallani said, new Donadoni).
MC: Sign Flamini form Arsenal for free.
SC: Call back ... Ricardo Oliveira to form new Ka-Pa-RO
:D Just for fun. Thats the worst case.

Delete this post before Gayliani sees it. Hios wet dream of a summer transfers market.
As for Kaladze in LB, it works well IMO if we dont' play with 2 dm, as he's decent, not great going forward. has good cross though.

Don't forget the 'star transfer' for the following season where Ronaldo moves on a free transfer from a bed in a Paris Hospital where Zidane is unknown to one in the Milan Lab :zany:
